Yep Christine it is the HPV but there are 30 or so different strains. The new vaccine only works for 3 main ones I think. I don't have one of those. Sheree it's a national vaccine for all pre-teens now.
Yeah I heard that too, all different strains. That is good they are trying to do something with the vaccine then hey! I am just confused if I am so prone to cancer now why they don't just burn them off or something. They did tell me that they more then likely just go away but gees you always live and wonder if it will turn into cancer now!!!!!
The vaccine is in 3 doses, Jess has her 2nd next week, they are giving it to girls in Yrs9-12 I think.
At least you know about it and can be aware of your higher risk but I guess knowing can be a stress in itself. I have a very strong family history of oestrogen related cancers (think that's it) my mum died of ovarian cancer, her mum had breast cancer and grandma's mum died of cancer of the uterus. I was going to get genetic testing done to see if I had the gene but unfortunately you need to have a blood test from a relative who has survived and unfortunately my grandma died the week of my appt. so I can't get it done I can only be more vigilant.
Hope Lachlan went ok with yoghurt Sheree, Riley used to spew up yoghurt when I first tried him on it at 6-8 months, he has only been OK with it for about a month or two.
Shazz- hope your computer dramas get fixed!
hopefully crossed fingers it is fixed for now
where is everyone ? off having a life... ( something i'm lacking ) enjoying the long weekend i suppose well i can't wait to hear what you have all been up too i had withdrawald BIG time ...
Shazz, I've been sleepin. Hope your puter is fixed.
Sheree the viruse gets into your cells, they're not an entity on their own. That's why they can't be zapped off. It makes your own cells more susceptable (sp?) to the process required to change them into cancerous cells.
Yay Shazz is back, and now I'm going hehe, not cause you smell or anything lol.
I will be MIA for a week, going to Mackay for appts galore. But mainly Lachlan's paed appt, my scan and mammogram and testing of my eyes and I have a reunion to go to. A bunch of people I worked with years ago.
I was given a voucher sometime ago from a group of friends when I was having hard times with Lachlan, to a Dayspa and I am finally going, yahooo, 3 hours of bliss, should be great! Can't wait.
Kim - I can't feel the lumps they must be small, but for some reason it is not something I like to do either, touch my boobs! But the pain is still there but have to admit not as bad lately, maybe it is the evening primrose tablets helping. Thanks for askin honey.
Lachlan just woke up and had a 39 degree temp, he has been way out of sorts today the poor mite, just won't stop crying.
Anyway best go and get the packing finished. Chat to you all in a week or so.
Sheree i once had a painful lump in my bbs and the mammogram lady said pain is a good sign cause usually cancer lumps don't hurt so hopefully yours will just be painful lump/cysts like mine were.
Yeah Christine that is what the nurse told me too, but she wants me to have a scan just for ease of mind. She believes the pain is more hormonal, that is why I am taking epo, and it seems to be working. I still have pain, but not as much.
Anyway cheerio everyone chat to you all in a week.
Sheree will be thinking of you and hope all the tests come back clear.
We made it back from Canberra safely. I think I have thawed out... It was freezing down there. They have cracker night the long weekend and it's weird driving around with fireworks going off left right and centre.
Anyway, my MIL looked pretty tired, but in good spirits. Waiting on some test results this week so fingers crossed.
Well better go ni ni's - work tomorrow. Ugh.
wow!!! so many posts, i am tired and i will never remember what you have all said so please forgive me for being selfish and not doing personals....
Had a great weekend, our home loan money finally came in, turns out they entered the wrong account number which is why our money took so long to get to us (not happy jan!). Anyway bought some clothes, had a huge night out on the town sat night spent waaaay too much money one grog and junk food, bought a new bed which gets delivered Wednesday woo hoo, just need to hunt around for some cheap secong hand wardrobes, dining suite and computer desk. Getting air conditioning too thank goodness.
Archie has just started doing what we have been calling his 'angry voice'. Sounds like an angry bear its awful, i have been paying more attention to the way we adults talk to him and i think we all need to be a bit softer and gentler with our tone of voice sometimes, that should help get rid of the angry voice i reckon.
Hoe you all had good weekends,
leanne - really hoping kaitlyn is feeling better and your weekend improved xx
Well everyone Lachlan woke at 9pm tonight as his temp peaked again at 39.1, gave him panadol immediately he was absolutely boiling. Then he started convulsing. Scariest thing I have ever seen and we had no idea what to do! Only lastest a minute but it was the longest minute of our lives. The ambulance came and took us to Emerald an hour away and when we arrived his temp was still 38.3 degrees. We waited to see a doc and sure enough my boy has tonsilitis. It's funny how you put everything down to teething, he has been grumpy for days now and not eating well again and it was his god dam tonsils grrr.... if only he could tell me. But that convulsion I have never seen anything like it, he went all stiff, as red as you could possibly imagine in the face with this terrible terrible expression and he started frothing at the mouth. A mothers worst nightmare. Wade had one as a baby so I knew a little about them in that you had to try to drop their temp, but not too fast. Wade went blue he stopped breathing, they had to hold his tongue and everything so Iam glad Lachlan was not that bad, but gee a terrifying situation all the same. I remember Wade's mum saying that they put him in a cold bath, but the emergency line said no, just wet washers, but Lachlan wouldn't let us put one near him. The doc also told me 2nite that you can let it go down too dramatically too as that is a disaster too and the shivering can also make it peak again. Anyway we have antibiotics and it is now 1am and I am very very tired. We will probably leave late 2morrow arve now if Lachlan is ok. What a nite, ni ni everyone.
OMG Sheree I know how scary that is. Jess had febrile convulsions at 1 (actually the week after she turned 1) from tonsillitis too, they lasted over 20 minutes and I had no idea what was happening its so frightening. Poor you having to go an hour to the hospital too. Glad he seems a bit better now, hope your break is restful you need it!
Leanne- glad you are thawing out!! I have everything crossed for your MIL.
Kim- hope work was OK
Uh oh just looked at the time!!! better get ready for school, more later BTW Where is Vic??
Sorry i have been MIA a bit lately. Getting into the really tired stage again. We had a pretty busy weekend too. We went down to Brent's aunty and uncles yesterday to make up the fence for our front patio. This is to keep our little adventure girl in!!
Not much planned today. I have a few chores i need to get done. Ironing, washing...the normal stuff! Brent has gone in for a job interview and to see about another job. The second job is fly in fly out again but only 1 week on 1 week off. I told him i did'nt want him to do this cause i will need help with the baby but the money is really good.
Briley is good. Walking like a tropper now. She only crawls when she is'nt sure of the ground she is walking on. I still watch her in awe! Still no new teeth. We have a suspicion that one of the top 2 are about to come thorough. You can see the whites of the teeth but you can't feel them.
Briley is also talking heaps more! Lastnight Brent got home from in town with his dad and they were mucking around with the fence outside. Briley could see them at one point and was looking out the window from the lounge. I asked her "Where's dad?" and she replied, "With Bop!". Bop meaning pop! So funny.
Anyways, better get going with these chores. I do have some personals to add. I will be back later with them!
OMG sheree i have also been down the road of febrile convulsions with my eldest they are freaking scary big hugs to you and little Lachie poor litlle mite
