Just thought i would pop in to say that we are home now. Colby's bloody tests came back and showed that her jaundice levels had dropped so the pead said we could go home!! Its soooo good to be back home too.
Colby is really good. She is beautiful and looks very similar to Briley at birth. Colby is much darker featured than Briley was though. I think she is going to be much more like me than Brent. Where as Briley takes after her dad. The breast feeding is going brilliantly. I am so happy that she latched on straight at birth. Not for long with everything the went on though.
Briley has adjusted good. She is a little rough with Colby which is to be expected but gives her kisses and cuddles. She was a little insecure at first and when she saw Brent holding Colby she started bawling her eyes out. I nearly cried too! She is fine now though.
There is so much i want to tell you about but i am still quite tired. I will just make it short and sweet at the moment and fill you all in later on sometime. I will probably get around to doing my birth story later on in the week. We have a busy day planned already tomorrow!
Here a brief on labour, deliver and thereafter!
7.30am - First real contractions started. Coming 1-2 mins apart lasting 1- 1 1/2 mins long.
10.30am - Arrived at hosptial at 9.30am and was checked at now and found to be only 1-2cm dilated! Contractions one on top of the other
12.30pm - Waters still had'nt broken so i asked midwife to break them. Was checked and found to be fully dilated. Waters were broken. Although this sent me back to being 8-9cm dilated as bag of water were holding cervix open a little
2.30pmish - After an eternal wait...finally got the urge to push. Pushed baby out into the world at 2.44pm. Its a GIRL!
Now the trouble starts. I was given the injection to make the placenta come out but it did'nt want too. I started heamoraging(sp??) straight away. Dr's were called in and many efforts were made to massage my tummy and pull the placenta out but it would'nt come. Then the cord snapped after the Dr tried to pull it again. I was then sent to theatre where the placenta was removed surgically. I had lost 1 litre of blood and recieved a blood transfusion early saturday morning.
A very scary experience for all of us. My mum was very upset and a little traumatised i think. I was to out of it to really know what was going on until they took me away from my baby. I cried when i left.
Although a very trumatising experience, i am happy with how the labour and delivery went prior to the drama's. I fullfilled my dream of a natural drug free brith. My baby was very healthy although negleted by the hospital staff a little due to my situation.
Colby has a few follow up issues though. She has a dimple above her bottom which resembles that of signs of spina bifita. She also looks as though she is a little tongue tied. And then the jaundice. All not serious. An ultrasound was done a couple of days ago on her back and it all looks good. She has to go back in 6-12 months to have it re-checked though.
Ok this has turned into a massive post. I am tired now!! There are a few other bits and peieces but you will read all that in my birth story!
I did manage to have a quick squiz at all the posts. Can't really remember them now though. Sorry!
I am off to empty my MASSIVE boobs. And enjoy my new baby girl. I can't belive i have 2 girls! Amazing.
