Nat that's a fantastic price perweek. Some of the gyms in Sydney are $18 just for a casual visit. The pigeon teats fit on all the wide necked bottles. I use mine with Avent and they are just a bit shorter so you have to cover the teat hole with your finger when you shake the bottle instead of the lid blocking it. Darcy has been in 000 for a few weeks too, though she still fits in one outfit thats 00000. The sizes are so erratic.
Vic that stick is called silver nitrate. Poor Adam hope he starts to improve.
Sheree, good luck with the lact cons. Don't stop asking questions until you are satisfied. After all they aren't the ones stuck with the upset bub 24/7.
I got my taxback this week and have just done Dh's. I know what you mean Vic about all the bills together. We have 2 regos due right now.

Vic ~ Yep I put him in a 000 suit the other week and the feet were still flapping LOL. He has been wearing the 000 pants and tops for a bit though even though they are still too big LOL. But last night I thought I'd try again and they are a perfect fit!! The creche is all brand new and seems great - but I haven't checked out the staff fully yet. When I said about dropping him off at the creche while I did a class rather then relying on family/friends etc a friend said to me "You want other people wiping his arse...?" with this look.... Am I being too laid back? It'll only be for an hour (45 min class)... Poor little Adam - I hope he's feeling better! And I would love a treadmill too - my mum does have one.
Kim ~ I'm about to lodge my tax this week so I can't wait to get some back! The casual visits here are $12. Sizes are definately too eratic. I'm so paranoid about him missing out one wearing a new outfit because the sizes were out rofl - I'm such a dag!! I'm so indecisive about the gym... maybe I should wait until Em is in a routine? I can't put him in the creche until he is 3 months anyway...
Em is asleep again. He seems to be settling into a routine *I won'thold my breath though lol*... He has a bottle, is awake for a few hours and then sleeps for a few hours before waking for his next bottle. This has started from when I changed his teats over and he started having more at each feed. LOL speak of the devil.... he's awake!

Hi all, I'm new in here so first I will tell you a little about myself. I've just turned 27 my partner Chris will be 30 next month. Chris and I moved to QLD from Melb about 18mths ago so we could buy a house and finally start a family. Well we bought our house before we moved and we now have our beautiful baby boy Jayden Nicholas born on 26th May 06. Our only real problem we have had has been BF Jayden and I had been seeing a lactation consultant for about 5 or 6 weeks, Jayden had also lost a little bit of weight after we came home from hospital. I'm not always convinced he has had enough from me but he is now putting on weight and having plenty of wet nappies. Well thats the short version haha no doubt in time I will reveal more haha.
Sara: I started using a dummy with Jayden when he was just 4 days old as we were going out for dinner and he wouldn't settle since then I seem to always use it especially to go to sleep. Jayden will spit it out though or screw his face up if he doesn't want it, my plan is to take it off him completely at around 12mths, whether that happens or not is another thing though haha
Sheree: Are you going to The Base in Bundaberg? That where I went and she is fantastic, I would not be BF now if it wasn't for her. I had attachment problems as well as cracked nipples that were bleeding and poor Jayden was throwing up my blood that he was drinking, we are still having a bit of trouble with supply but we are working on it.
Anyway looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you
Tania

Hey Tania!! Glad to see you made it here!!
A bit about myself... I had Emerson on the 18th May and he is lactose intolerant so is on a special formula which meant I couldn't BF for long! I don't live with Em's father (DP) at the moment (we are working towards this) so I'm virtually a single mum! Oh and I'm absolutely in love with my little man lol!!
Sounds as though you perservered really well with the BF - you must be so proud!! Glad to hear that he is gaining weight as well. I love the name Jayden. I was going to use it myself until DP came up with Emerson!
Sara ~ I remember reading about the dummy situation but I can't remember replying LOL... Em has the dummy during his day time sleeps but will settle at night time without it. He uses it alot more now since his shots but mostly just throughout the day. Sometimes in the early hours of the morning he will cry and I'll wack it in and he'll go back to sleep until the morning.
Sheree ~ How did you go hun?
Not much happening here... I'm about to go and do some ironing. I'm finding it really strange having Em asleep during the day LOL. Prior to this he would just cat nap every other 20 mins or so... so this strange... I will get used to it I'm sure - then he will change back ;)
-
Nat you're not too laid back. It's only for an hour. They won't even have to change a nappy or feed him in that time.....
I LOVE the dummy Sara. It's not the end of the world. If she's happy it's no-one elses choice is it?
This isn't funny anymore. I have a third AF in six weeks!!!!! Who else is on the mini pill and what is it called. Maybe that's what's doing it. I have never had anything like it before.
Ooh and to edit a second time, Welcome Tania and Jayden.

Hello ladies,
Sorry I haven’t been posting as often lately – I have had my hands full around here and when I have time DH is hogging the net. Maybe when he goes back to work next week it will be better, but then I’ll have to look after the two terrors on my own so maybe not!
Alison – wow, sounds like Cooper is growing like a champ! What a good boy. How is the constipation going?
Shazz – sounds like you’ve got a good plan with the weight loss. The exercise bike is a good idea too… my mum lent me a second hand one she got for $25 from lifeline and I try to get on it if I haven’t gone for a walk. I go walking everyday for at least an hour (sometimes up to one and a half hours). I’m doing a challenge with a friend of mine to exercise every day so if I don’t one day I exercise twice the next day to make up for it. How much do you have to lose? I reckon after the baby weight I had around 12 and I’ve lost 3 so far. I have 9 more to lose in 10 ½ week to be back at my WW goal weight. Fingers crossed! When is the wedding you have to go to?
Lea – glad you had some time to yourself, but you’re supposed to RELAX, not do housework! I can talk – I’m exactly the same. How’s the feeding going today? And you are SO not being too laid back about the crèche. It’s good for him and you. Does this friend have kids? Maybe she has a full time nanny, or lives with her mum or something, but how dare she say that to you! Just slap her next time, ok? Love the new pic too! What a cutie.
Sheree – I agree with whoever said to keep pestering the lact consultants until you get some results. I hope it all works out for you. How is your recovery going these days?
Sara – I know it sounds weird, but Vic’s idea about the bm does work. Toby got a slight touch of conjunctivitis and it cleared it right up. I don’t use a dummy with Toby (only because I saw my aunty have some real problems weaning one of my cousins from it) but it’s completely up to you. You do whatever you have to do to get through. Briley’s only a tiny thing, so I’m sure you can gradually wean her off it at the right time when she’s a bit older. Maybe, if you’re worried about it, you could give it to her to settle her down and once she’s calm take it out so she’s not actually going to sleep with it? I do a similar thing with bf with Toby – if he’s due for a feed when he’s ready to go down I feed him until he’s either relaxed or almost asleep then pop him in the cot. He usually wakes up and has a bit of a grizzle but then I go in and settle him and he goes off to sleep. I’m sure you’re doing an awesome job.
Vic – go Adam! He is a tank, isn’t he? Sounds like we have some strapping boys in this forum! BTW, you can hire treadmills if you can’t afford to buy one – my Mum and almost SIL have gone halves in hiring one $220 for 3 months because almost SIL is marrying my brother in 10 ½ weeks so they want to look good! Poor little Adam about the sickness – I forbid it to re-enter your house!
Mummy – right, I officially dislike you now. LOL Not really! Sounds like you’ve got one perfect bub there. Wish she could come and show mine a thing or two! Glad to hear she’s over her virus – it’s so scary when they’re sick.
Tania – welcome! And congratulations on the birth of Jayden. It’s always great to have new people in here. I’m glad you got the bf thing sorted out – a good consultant can make all the difference.
Kim – omg about AF. That is weird. Have you seen a gp about it? I just got a script for the minipill and now I’m nervous about it! Is it really heavy?
Still having the windy problems. I’m wondering if it has something to do with the fact that he feeds so often (so he’s swallowing more air). I might start expressing a bit again to bump up my supply to see if that makes a difference. I really don’t want to go to formula if I can help it (only because it takes more time and energy and I’m lazy!), so I’m going to do the best I can. He’s still feeding 2-3 hourly, more 2 than 3 hours though. He did go 4 hours the other night and 3 ½ hours last night, so I know he can do it. He last fed around 3.30 pm so I’m going to do my darndest to make him wait until at least 6, later if possible. Anyway, I think one big boy has woken up and I need to go and make the bases for my yummy pizza that we’re having tonight. Hope you’re all well.

I went to sleep school today with Shaun !!!
Our main problem is that he goes feral from 6pm to midnight - every single night. He doesn't sleep at all.... he cries most of the time.
Unfortunately sleep school runs from 9am to 3pm, so I didn't think I would get much from it. He is usually 'well behaved' during those hours.
But I picked up a few tips, and right at the end he started to play up a bit. The nurse was trying to settle him, but couldn't and he was 'different' than earlier in the day. I explained that was a 'taste' of what he is like in the evenings. Multiply that by 3 or 4 and persistant for 6 hours. Then she realised why I was there! All she could come up with is she thinks it's colic. But he has wind drops, he burps, he farts like a trooper, and he doesn't appear to have any tummy pain. And the GP said he didn't have colic or reflux. So I'm not sure if colic is his problem.
But I went home, and tried out the techniques of settling. And it seemed to work. I was surprised that they didn't believe in swaddling as they think it represses their movement skills (or something like that). Shaun doesn't like being swaddled, but if I don't swaddle him - he flings his arms around all night - hitting himself in the face all the time, and knocking his dummy out. But I settled him tonight without swaddling.
And although he got fairly feral tonight... he settled down around 10pm, so we've had 2 hours of silence which we don't normally get! And he didn't have to co-sleep which we sometimes have to do.
I gave him a bath in our big spa with me tonight. He loved it. It's like a swimming pool to him. But as usual, he got upset when he came out of the water (so much for relaxing him!!!).
I've also increased his formula amount a bit. He's two months now and 5.5kg - so he should be on more than 125ml. Hopefully the bigger feeds will satisfy him a bit more. As a first time mum - I was never told by the hospital to increase his formula. In the first week home he was losiing weight as I was meant to increase it every few days. I really believe first time mums should be allowed to stay in hospital longer if they wish, so they can ask questions and get settled. I was in hospital 4 days and I'm 38yo, and I was petrified when I came home with Shaun! I had no idea what to do.
-
wow so quiet in here where are you all
-
Don't know Jodie, I was in 8 days and left with HUGE feeding issues. Shame they can't set up some sort of drop in centres for new mums with the right resourses and info all in the one spot with no waiting list.
Darcy terrified me too.
Kellee, the minipill's light - that's the point, but I think that's what's doing it. If you aren't used to the pill tho....I've been on it 10years and fell pregnant straight after I stopped so my poor body is used to bigger levels of hormone I think.
Well the monster thought it would be cool to crash the slumber party around 2.30 this morning (it only started at 1.30), and has pretty much been awake since. I'm fighting with her to go to sleep now and am contemplating going to be myself afte I wash up.... The inlaws rang today and upset DH all over again. They are just irritated we aren't doing what they advise and are standing u to them. They refuse to say they are in the wrong and apologise and are acting like 5 years olds not parents. Poor DH he is stuck between what he feels he should do and what he wants to do. He doesn't want to be with them but doesn't want Darcy to miss out. I don't want her around selfish people and have told him they are NEVER going to look after her. I think he's hurt that I'm suuch a cow, but I have no emotional attachment to them so don't care. They even went crook that his sister saw him on the motorway writing a ticket and slowed down and beeped and that he ignored her! There's like a hundred thousand cars on the motorway - he didn't even see her. Grrrrr
Ahhhhhh she won't go to sleep!!!!
Crappy crappy day
-
Kim~ Urgh @ the IL’s!!! I think just due their disabilities (I remember you mentioning this before) alone I would hesitate to leave a newborn with them – add their attitude along with it and I’m with you. I think they need to compromise – you are the mother!! And I can’t believe the sister LOL… he’s a police officer that who would get tooted at various times when he pulls someone over I imagine – why would he pay attention to that!!! I hope Darcy has settled down for now! It sounds like a horror night you poor thing. Just when you think you’ve got them worked out… I have no advice about the mini pill BTW sorry! And I think it is only for an hour (with the gym) and no my friend doesn’t have kids! I’m not sure if I will join yet – it’s a 12 month membership and its a lot of $ to be committed for. I don’t think I’m ready yet to ‘have’ to do something IYKWIM. I like having no commitments and just doing what I want with Em. I won’t like it forever but its nice for now.
Jodie ~ Shaun sounds like he doesn’t like the evenings!! So glad that the sleep centre seemed to help. I have my fingers crossed that it gets better for you. How much is he on each feed now? Em generally has 180mls 5 times a day now that I’ve changed the teats over. He’s been so much more settled since as well.
Kellee ~ I LOVE your huge posts LOL!!! I know I should do things for myself but I actually enjoy housework and having a clean house LOL. If DP hadn’t of bought Em back early I would have had a chance to sit down and read for a bit. I’ve been reading the same book for over 2 months so its really time that I finished it LOL…Thanks on the pic compliment too. I think he looks gorgeous! The blue makes his eyes stand out even more! I took heaps so I will have to update his site as well! I hope Toby improves with his wind and those little pizzas sound delicious!!! I hope you enjoyed them!
Well my cousin came over today and we had lunch and then watched DVD’s. Em is asleep atm and I’m just waiting for DP to come home. He is cooking me too tonight which will be nice! Just trying to catch up on some posting as I haven’t been on all day…
Just had to add – Em is dressed in his Adelaide Crows one piece suit LOL. My mum is a fan and bought it for him when he was born!! Its very cute hehe but DP wasn’t impressed as he’s a soccer man!!!
-
Thanks Nat. I actually just put her in her cot and shoved the dummy in (did I mention my bad day) and she's been quiet. Too scared to check if she's asleep or not, but I'm off to eat, washup and then go to bed.
-
Hi everyone,
Jayden and I went shopping today - it was only meant to be an iced chocolate with SIL and some food shopping but we ended up getting photos taken $600 for the entire package, not sure how many you get but from what I saw of the photos I think I'm going to want them all!! Anyway my quick shopping trip last 10am til nearly 4pm!!
Lea: How do they test lactose intolerance on babies? It crossed my mind when Jayden was born as he was throwing up all the time and losing weight but the vomiting is starting to settle and he's putting on weight so lactose intolerance wasn't the problem.
BF was something I wanted to do but if it didn't happen it didn't worry me, but becuase we have overcome so many problems it would be a waste now to give up now although DP tells me nearly every day to just put him on formula - I just ignore him tho haha.
Emerson is a gorgeous name, not one you hear often. Thats what we wanted was a name that wasn't too common, Jayden was popular but I haven't seen it around too much lately (although after he was born I have noticed it a bit more).
Thanks for the welcome Scrappyfish and Kellee

Hi Girls,
Tannis ~ Welcome to BB, Congratulations on the birth of Jayden. A little bit of info on me, I will be hitting the dirty 30's in a couple of days and my DH hitting the naughty 40's later this year....he says that we are going to be a dirty and naughty pair lol. We have 2children Samuel (almost 3) and Phoebe (almost 3 months) both born by C-Section, We been married for 5 years and together for 9. I am a keen scrapbooker and love being a SAHM. Looking forward to getting to know you better...
Scrappy ~ hope your day is better tomorrow, we all have bad days...it goes with the territory. I hope things start to improve with the IL's.
Lea ~ hope the daytime sleeping continues....I have the odd day that Phoebe doesn't sleep very well (mmmm like today), it can be very frustrating at times....we all need a break and have some me time.
Jodie ~ Phoebe isn't a real fan of the evenings either, from about 4pm-8pm she is quite unsettled, but eventually wears herself out and goes to sleep. Good to here that the settling techniques seem to be working. I swaddle Phoebe still, I find it does help quite a bit with self settling, but not always. If I don't swaddle/wrap her, any movement that she makes with her arms, wakes her.
Kellee ~ LOL @ you officially dislike me, I had my fair share of restless, sleep deprived nights with Samuel so it makes for a pleasant change with Phoebe. Phoebe has days where she feeds 2-3 hourly, usually towards the end of the day. It's as if she is trying to get as much into her as possible so she can sleep all night, which isn't a bad thing, it just makes it hard because it is right around the time (4pm-8pm) when I am trying to organise tea, having tea and putting Samuel to bed. Some days I need to clone myself just to get everything done between those times. Phoebe gets such a big feed in the morning as she has gone so long without a feed and I get chance to fill right up, and she is so happy and content after that feed, but of course I don't get to fill up like that again during the day and sometimes she wants more, but there just isn't any there. I have thought about giving her a formula feed at the end of the day, just to fill her right up, but I am in two minds about going ahead or not. I prefer to exclusively BF her until she is on solids at least.
Phoebe didn't sleep all that well today and I just sat there on the lounge most of the day (well that's what it felt like) just feeding and cuddling her to sleep. My house looked like a bomb had hit it and I reckon I could have just about cried. DH got home from work early and could see that I was a little frustrated and so he did a quick tidy up for me....he is such a gem, just doing that little bit for me, made such a difference and improved my mood dramatically LOL.
Hope everyone is well.....Take Care X
-
Good Morning Everyone,
Thanks Mummy....your going to have a very interesting decade ahead of you as the dirty and naughty pair LOL DP turns 30 soon too (ooo I might get more kids after all LOL).
Wednesday night Jayden went to sleep at 8.30pm of course I wasn't tired and went to bed at around 11pm. Although he's been sleeping through the night I had a feeling he wouldn't that night......3am we woke for a feed. 4am we got back to sleep.....6am we woke again for a feed 7.30am he went back to sleep, I didn't bother going back to sleep. Last night was perfect, he was asleep by 10.20pm and woke at 6.40 this morning. The only problem I have at the moment is Jayden won't go to sleep on his own or with anyone else but me, he had been doing it almost since birth but lately he has been very clingy...I would have thought 9 weeks was a bit early for that??
-
Nope Tania, Darcy screams for everyone else.
Just had to let you all know, while we were still awake three times last night, I was able to wrap her, put her in her cot, pat a few times and she went to sleep by herself - TWICE!!! Heres to an improvement! Feel great this morning. I was so ready for her to scream straight away that I started to scrapbook, but she didn't. She's even asleep now with the ****ie talking in her ear.
-
Hi every body:hello:
Hi Tania and welcome bit of me of info on me I'm Shazz I'm 31( :crying: ) i've been married to Dh for 12 years and have been together 16 years we have a 11 year daughter and a 8 year old son and now ryan i'm just a ring in these days our little man was induced 3 weeks early on the 18th of april but if i didn't come and post here i would miss these wonderful ladies too much and i'd be lonely for sure look forward to getting to know you a bit better
-
Tannis ~ OMG @ the shopping trip!! $600!?!?! Nice work ;) TBH I have a huge family history of lactose intolerance which my GP knew about when he was showing all the signs we just popped him onto the special formula and he was fine instantly. I had thought that they would test but they were happy to diagnose based on family history. From here on in we have to keep testing him with normal formula to see if he has started to grow out of it. I didn’t grow out of it for years and neither did my brother but my mum grew out of it pretty fast. Em bowels were the victims! He was going about 8 times a day and screaming before he went each time the poor thing! And I think Emerson is a gorgeous name as well!!
Kim ~ WTG Darcy – your little girl is growing up!!! Settling herself TWICE during the night – you must be so happy and proud!! You’ve done it your way and its working!!! Yay for you both Kim!!!
Vic ~ You are def right about sites like this. Being a first time mum I get so much help and reassurance from you girls. Its great. My mum keeps wondering why I haven’t called her asking questions yet lol.. That’s so cute with Mel being fascinated with the smilies!! And very cute of her to help with your post!!
Shazz ~ LOL at being a ring in!! Do you ever pop into the babies born in April? How is Ryan going these days??
Mummy ~ Good to hear your DH helps out the sweety! I think we all get those days with out little ones! Em is still working out his routine. He’s been awake since 10 and has just had another bottle but doesn’t seem tired at all. We will get there eventually I’m sure! LOL @ you being the dirty and naughty pair! DP turns 30 in November… any present ideas?
What new things have everyone’s babies been doing?? Last night Em was in DP’s arms and kept leaning towards me because he wanted to be with me LOL. I (of course) thought that was just great! He has also started the fist jamming into his mouth now LOL and realizes when I’m about to feed him so he stops crying! Our tummy time still isn’t always successful. The little so and so loves to roll back onto his back!!! Grrrr!! I did buy the Playskool Tummy Time Together Gym with has been great as it gives him something to look at and he grins and laughs at it. But tummy time still doesn’t last longer then a few minutes – 5 at the most. His neck control is excellent though so I’m not worried!!
Well today the plan was to go for a walk and get a few things done. The rain has killed that idea… I would still go but everything I need to do I need to walk between LOL so I guess Monday should be fine seeing as I have a BB meet up tomorrow and I’m back at work on Sunday. So today I think I will try to either read my book or do some scrap booking… I also have to finish the washing (to be hung inside hehe) and do some finances and filing. I still haven’t lodged my tax yet and its irritating me I just want to get it done! First thing though – I need to eat!!! Will pop back later and see if anyone has been in!
-
Jodie – I think we were all petrified when we came home, even if it wasn’t the first time! It’s par for the course, I’m afraid. I’m glad you got something out of sleep school – I have heard mixed reports about them so I’m happy that it worked for you. Re: swaddling – we did it with Charlie and it was a nightmare to wean him off it, but a MCHN showed us a way to snuggle Toby up without having to swaddle him and he loves it. It involves getting a big towel, rolling it in from each end so there’s a nice little space in the middle for him so it props him up and he doesn’t roll over, then putting him in, making it tight and wrapping a blanket around the whole thing and leaving his arms out. He’s nice and warm and feels all snug without having to be wrapped. Works for him, anyway.
Kim – gosh, I hope you got some sleep after your post yesterday morning! And I can’t believe the outlaws. Darcy is YOUR daughter – they had their chance to parent when they had their kids. I really feel for you guys, it must be hard. Sounds like Darcy is really starting to get the hang of self settling – that’s great!
Lea – sounds like you had nice day yesterday. What did DH cook for dinner? I have to know – I’m a bit of a foodie. Yesterday I made a Jaffa cake (orange cake with chocolate ganache) and today I made brownies and coffee cake. They were superb. I wish you guys lived closer so I could have you all over for morning tea!
Tania – I have never been game to get one of those photo sessions done because I know I would want them all too and we can’t afford it! I bet they’ll be gorgeous – can you post some somewhere for us to see when you get them? Glad you had a nice day out.
Mummy – LOL at dirty 30s and naughty 40s. What do you say for 20s? Yes, I wish I could clone myself too. DH is going back to work next week and he has late starts which means he won’t get home until 8. Don’t know how I’ll put them both to bed on my own! I have the same dilemma with the bf/ff thing… I always worry about my supply and it always turns out to be fine. If she starts waking through the night for no apparent reason then maybe you can think about it then, but sounds like you’re being a legend with everything atm. IKWYM about the house… if mine isn’t tidy I turn into a maniac and I can’t sit still. Although I’m doing a good job of letting it go atm while I write on here!
Vic – glad to see another one who was married young. I was married at 20 and I still only know one other married couple around my age. We’re the first to have kids too so it gets a bit lonely around here sometimes! Hello to mel too – she’s a very good typist!
Well I’m one handed typing atm – it’s hard! I had a rehearsal just now and DH had to look after both of the kids… now he knows what my days will be like everyday from next week! He’s been wonderful around here while he’s been on holidays. I’ll really miss him when he goes back. Oh well, it will be an interesting challenge! Haven’t been able to walk yesterday or today – yesterday I had to cook a gourmet meal for 12 (at mum’s for some friends of hers) and it’s raining today and I’m a bit tired, so I just don’t feel like it! That means that I’ll have to get on the exercise bike tonight or I’ll have three days of exercise to make up. Bugger. Toby went well last night – he’s starting to stretch out a bit between feeds, which is great.
Anyway, it seems that I am wanted! Hope you’re all having a lovely day.

Hi Everyone,
Scrappy: Well done with Darcy, I hope she keeps it up for you. Hopefully soon you won't have to get up at all and she will settle herself.
Neverplan: Thanks for the welcome. In a way I love it that Jayden needs me but its frustrating when I'm trying to cook dinner or in the middle of something.....Especially when DP is sitting on the computer or watching TV and not helping!! haha Your only 3 hrs away, I could send Jayden down to teach Adam to sleep LOL. He's been sleeping through the night for nearly 2 weeks, there has been maybe 2 or 3 nights since that he hasn't slept through, I have been very lucky I think but I have heard of babies that have been sleeping through almost since birth!!
Shazz: Thanks! If you weren't induced Ryan would have been a May baby. You and DP have been together for a long time, DP and I have been together for 9 years and engaged twice......not sure when we are getting around to the wedding, one day we will but its hard as we lived in Melbourne for nearly 8 years together and all his family were in Bundaberg and now we have moved to Bundaberg but all my family and friends are in Melbourne. The first time DP proposed was not even 2mths after we met and he wouldn't let me tell anyone, so a few years later I made him buy me a new engagment ring LOL (he should have just let me tell ppl would have been cheaper for him).
Lea: I haven't bought the photos yet, DP nearly had a heart attack when I told him how much it is haha I did get 2 keyrings @ $7 each and you pay $7 and get one photo (can't remember what size though) I have about 3 weeks to work on DP so I can get them all haha. Poor Em with all that poo!!! Jayden hardly poos at all once or twice every couple of days (farts like a trooper tho hehe).
Kellee: We can't really afford it either but I just couldn't help myself, I know they suck you in to get the lot and they succeeded with me LOL They said if I buy the whole package and pay a deposit of $185 I can't take the photos home with me and they will take installments out of my account, still the same amount but maybe a bit more managable. I'll try to get them scanned so I can show everyone (ooo I can't wait!)
We had a good day today, I got a couple of friends to come over to look after Jayden while I went into town to do a few things. He had a little play under his play gym and has just slept and ate all day. SIL and niece were here and helped me do some housework and went out to get me some lunch.....we haven't done much but it was a very relaxing day.
My poor dogs have to stay outside for a long time though as its been raining heaps and the backyard is flooded, no doubt they have been playing in it all afternoon haha
I'm typing 1 handed now, Jayden is crying for a feed so I better do it before he screams the house down.
Hope u all had a great day

Thanks girls. i definitley needed a cheersquad yesterday. I've been out all day with Mum and my nephew. We went to the Koala Park and then did some shopping for my baby bro who is finally moving out officially (he's been in the Navy about 5 years). Fed Darcy there and came home, wrapped her and she's put herself to sleep in the cot!!! Yayayay I don't suck as much as I thought I did.
I finally thought of some things I can't live with out (yeah I know it was a long time back) - my baby bjorn, my jogging stroller and my Winnie the Pooh cot light. This is my fave. It doesn't give off much light but it's tied to the cot side and you touch his foot. He turns off after 10min and Daarcy has been looking at him to go to sleep.
Oh and Tania I am 28, DH is 31ish (nearly 32) we were married in 2004 and we both work for the govt. They are paying me to stay home until March when I will decide. Like Mummy I am an avid scrapbooker and photographer, we also love to travel so it ties in nicely. This is my first year without an os holiday for nealry 5 years....oh well, I am making DH take me to Fiji for my 30th.
Rambling, see you all later.
Oh and very excited going to meet up with some of the local BB members at the end of August - can't wait as none of my friends have kids.

Kellee: re: Swaddling... ages ago we purchased an anti-roll thing for the baby... for when he co-sleeps with us. Its like a mat with two padded triangles on each side (which happens to be adjustable as he grows).
The sleep centre said it was 'okay' to put the baby on the side to sleep - especially if he has colic - and ideally to roll him onto his back once he fell asleep. And when you think about it - if you are hugging your baby to sleep they are on their side - so they do like the side position. Anyway, we realised Shaun likes to go to sleep on his side... so at first we tried a towel, but then we put him into the rolly thing - in his basinette. And he has dropped off to sleep every time! It keeps him snug (like your towel idea). I have his arms out, and above his head where he loves it.
I guess the main thing I got from the sleep school is to try to put him in his basinette/cot when he is getting sleepy (rather than trying to get him to sleep in our arms). Also to really notice his sleepy signs and understand that he doesn't want to be held then. And when we put him to bed, to rock and pat him and 'sshh, sshh' until he drops off (which isn't too long now). He has been sleeping better during the day, and now is much better in his feral times in the evenings. And for the last two nights, we have had a 5 hour block of sleep (10pm - 3am). Bliss!!!
Pinky McKay came over to my house today for the "Current Affair" filming. She taught me some massage to help with his colic, and gave me a few ideas. She is ssssoooooo lovely!!!! We (baby, hubby, stepmum, sister & I) went to her baby massage class as well. Shaun was so well behaved & I was so proud of him! ACA are coming back on Tuesday to do an interview with me. But I'm not sure when it will go to air as they want more babies. I'll let you know!
neverplan: thanks for the info/help with formula feeding. And I was shocked to hear that your milk pours out' onto a towel. My god... I would express for an hour and lucky if I got 10mls!!!! Thus the reason I have to bottle feed. There's definately no milk flowing from my boobies! At no point in my pregnancy did my boobs increase.
lea13: new things my bub been doing: learnt how to splash his feet in his bath (got daddy all wet!). He's discovered his hands and sucks them all the time. He really notices the toys on his play mat now and hits them with his hands. And today he rolled from his tummy to his back by himself. He's smiling in response to things so much more now.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi and Welcome Tania! My name's Beck and my hubby Scott and i have been married since March 2005, been together since 1st Jan 2000 (we met on NYE). Our gorgeous little girl, Jovi Lee, was born 4 May.
After a few false starts with weight and switching from breast to bottle, Jovi is finally putting on weight. She's been wearing her 000 jumpsuits since June long weekend basically. I think she should be in them for another month or so yet. Shirts and jumpers she still wears 0000 as all the ones we have seem really big. And all the 000 ones seem like they should be 00 at least. Sizings are stupid.
Last night was exciting ... Scott decided that he wanted to go to the hospital for some pain killers or something (he has a bad back ... bulging disc + other stuff going on). We got there about 6:45pm. By 9:20ish I'd had enough and asked how much longer (by this stage, everyone that was there before us had gone in and all of a sudden someone skipped ahead ... not impressed). We were told that there were 3-4 ahead of us (WTF!!) and that it would be a while longer. Low and behold however 5 minutes later they called Scott. Bloody idiots! He ended up getting some pain killers and I tried to get him an appointment with the specialist, but he has to wait until 6 Sept! totally insane ... not to mention the $150 fee he charges!! Better be medicare rebated! Luckily Jovi behaved really well at the hospital all night. Slept half the time, did a dirty nappy which wasn't fun as we didn't have any disposables handy and she had on the cloth ones (which she would normally wear anyway, but we chuck her in disposables if we go down the street etc). Luckily the poo was fairly contained to the liner and didn't actually get on the nappy much ... would've been a stick-fest then ... lol
Well, she may have behaved at the hospital but once we got home around 10 is was time for her LAST bottle before bed. But of course she decided to be difficult and didn't go back to sleep. Ended up it was 1:30am, she wanted another bottle and then I think we got to bed around 2-2:30am. Not fun people! Granted we didn't get up till 10am, but I think that's fair enough! lol ...
She's feeding really well ... yesterday she had a couple of big bottles ... we had only been making up 150ml but twice yesterday she wanted more ... her bottle around 3ish ... she ended up drinking 240ml the little piggy! then she drank a full 150ml before we went to the hospital and another 180ml when we got home. So today I ended up making her 180ml and she's drank all her bottles today, except the first one, but she had half. Although its not surprising considering what she had yesterday! lol
She's even had a taste of food this week! Tried her with a little of Farex ... I think she likes it but it doesn't have much taste and she's not quite sure what she thinks of it. She rolls it around and around her tongue ... so funny ... and yesterday I was eating a honey sandwich, so I stuck my finger in it and stuck it in her mouth ... she loved it! She instantly started laughing and smiling ... I think she's got a bit of a sweet "tooth" lol
She also had her first shower yesterday (I was waiting till she had a bit more meat on her and was easier to hold) ... she looked a little confused but she didn't cry and seemed to enjoy herself. Was actually much easier for me to wash her and her hair. Once her feet hit the water in the bath she's off and wriggling and tries to swim away and kicks like crazy. Bath time is hard on mummy, but she absolutely loves it!
Well ... that's about it and I really should be in bed! She's been a sleep for a few hours and one wonders why I never go to bed when she does! lol Will definitely have to next week WHEN I GO BACK TO WORK! I'm so going to miss not being able to jump back into bed if I want to ...
Talk to you soon ...

Good morning ladies!
Early morning here so I thought I would say hi.
Jack went on his first(and his last he informed me!) camp during the week.He went to Anglesea for 3 days and while he had a lot of fun, he was happier to get home!
Thats all from me atm. See ya
-
Thanks Jess, I guess it works then. And thanks for the compliment!! :)
Baby crazy, I am emergency trained and know what it's like on the other side. We don't like it much either cos we don't make the rules and can't shoo away the idiots that rock up for fun (well they say they are sick). How do you find the cloth nappies? I have some but am too scared. I have blowouts in the disposables, can't imagine what it would be like with no elastic...how often do you change her?
Well, do you think Darcy is unwell? Today for the first time she has decided she wants a sleep during the day! She is currently unwrapped and sleep in her cot!!! Has the sky turned green or something? She slept until 2 this morning, fed and up 1/2hr then straight back to bed until 6. This is a kid who thinks 4.30 is a good time to be awake every day. I SO hope this continues, but it will probably change next week.

Hi girls!!
Well i finally worked out how to put a picture on my ticker! With a little help ofcourse!! So now everyone will be able to see my little blossom. Hope you all think she is as beautiful as we do.
So i was able to get a resonable nights sleep last night. Briley is still struggling a little with the evening colic. I went and bought some gripe water lastnight so we'll see this evening wether it helps or not. She is really starting to eat heaps now. She woke for a bottle at about 1am and had 100mls and was still hungry so i made another bottle and she had another 100mls. She must have been starving!! Her eyes are getting a little better and her belly button has pretty much healed.
I am in Cairns this weekend visiting my cousin Kristal. Brent has gone out onto the reef fishing. So hopefully I will be chowing down on some fresh reef fish on sunday night. Mmm Mmm!!! Today we went to Myers so that Kristal could buy Briley an outfit. We found one that was absolutely gorgeous. We also got her a little bow to put around her head and some white and pink frilly laced socks!! We are going to take some photos of her soon in her new outfit.
I am still bleeding quite heavily after 10 days. My stomach is still tender to touch so i am going to go to the dr's on monday. I am beggining to think its a bit out of the ordinary. I have been experiencing some cramping aswell. Nothing severe but a little painful. Did everyone else heal up ok???
Anyways hope all is going well with everyone. Will be back next week to keep you posted on the bleeding situation. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.:crossfingers: Talk then.
Ciao
Sara

Quiet in here today, hope you are all enjoying the w/e. It is a beautiful sunny day of 19 degrees here in Sydney.
Darcy is finally in a routine!!! Last night we had to keep her up until 8. Normally she goes to bed about 5 and sleeps until midnight, but we had to keep her up as we were out. She went ot bed at 8.30 after a feed and slept until 4. Then she went back down until 6.30 when all she wanted was a cuddle so we snuggled for another hour. I got 7 hours sleep!!! In a row!! I was so refreshed I contemplated staying up after the 4am feed - stupid!
I feel like I'm finally getting it. Have left her unwrapped this arvie so hopefully she is awake at 8 so I get another good sleep. Here's hoping...

Sorry just a quick post, been away and have to unpack! Haven't read the posts, plan to go back and catch up on what has been happening if lachie allows me to tomorrow.
I am having so many problems feeding Lachie, he is refusing the boob alot! I can't get him to attach and the time we do attach we are doing nothing different, so I am stuffed if I know! It is so frustrating, we went away for the weekend and at 2 peoples places we got so frustrated that I had to ask the people we were visiting if I could use their bathroom to go and express - how embarrassing. He cries and just won't attach, but then all through the night feeds he is ok, really bad after his medicine in the morning and night too. He just won't initiate the let down, seen a lactation consultant and she suggested I hand express to get the let down, but that still doesn't work. I can't go on expressing forever, it is sooo not convenient, so if things don't improve I can see us giving up. I really don't want to and this really upsets me but I gather happy bubba, happy mumma!
Also I have to go off all dairy, appears as well as the reflux Lachie is intolerant to the protein in cows milk! His poos are explosive, mucousy and have green chunks. So I have to do this for atleast a mth and see if things improve. You just don't realise how hard this is, dairy is a big component of my diet and I am finding it sooo hard to eat these days!!!
Well we just went away for the weekend, looking at another newsagency, looks like this one is a goer and we will be taking over in Dec/Jan. The town is small but nice, by the name of Tieri.
Hope everyone is well.

Scrappy - Cloth nappies are brilliant! I find that some days she doesn't need to be changed as often, say only just before a bottle. Other times, if she's been awake for ages after a bottle I'll change her anyway just before I put her down so she doesn't have an excuse to wake up lol
Washing ... easy ... buy a bucket (20L is good size), fill with water, put in napisan (or similar), just chuck your nappies in there throughout the day. Rinse out in the washing machine the next day and refill bucket.
Poo-wise - Jovi's pretty good and hasn't had a blow out since she was a few weeks old. Liners are a wonderful invention (I recommend Johnsons ... although they're a bit expensive @ $8 a pack of 100, I cut them in half and they're worth it). Jovi will only get a litte on the actual nappy. Bit of a rinse and in the bucket and they have never stained.
Def. cheaper! Napisan can be a bit costly (though usually homebrand is just as good if you have to buy) but it will last weeks which is good.

Ohhh Vic - I know exactly what you mean, I do not love nor hate BF I am only doing it for the benefit of Lachie but when he fights it soooo much I wonder why do I bother. I think initially for me when he cried soooo much at my boob from the reflux after a feed, there was no satisfaction at all for me. For you, you poor thing, having all those kids and no rest, must be soooo draining I feel for you. I only have one child and I too just want a days break, just to disappear and come back in a day, when my head is clear. Your advice is exactly how I feel, we both need to be happy, so you should also take that on board and do what you think is right. I mean 3mths BF we have really done such a good job, much futher then some people get that is for sure, so I am proud of myself, would like to continue but it is all up to Lachie now. Wow your bubba feeds along time, lachie feeds every 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours generally for about 20mins absolute MAX!!! It is so draining.............
I have worked out about this situation to date that he is good sometimes and bad bad others. I persist and persist and he just cries so much and he is so strong he pushes his legs and hands off me and turns his head. Initially I thought it was the medicine he got jack of, but then he does it spasmatically through the day also, but on average it is just after meds in morning, just after meds in the early evening feed and then the feeds after that before he goes down at 9:30pmish (as I am sure my milk supply is dwindling). I know that he hates the fact that my boobies are all saggy and my nipples are all soft as during the night my boobs fill and they are firm and he can attach properly. I am sure it is not a pain issue and the dairy cutting out is to repair his digestive system only (don't believe it is related to him attaching). I am sure it is a let down issue, but even hand expressing sometimes won't even get him on there. 2nite I had both my boobies out and I was expressing one side, and the other was dripping and wade held him at that boob (with aching arms I might add - while I expressed the other side) and whalaaaa he latched on and stayed there for ages (poor wade). I even tried expressing with my pump to start the let down and put him on directly and that still did not god dam work. I am sure I just have one lazy baby on my hands and he will not initiate this let down, especially as the day dwindles and so does my milk (this does not help). I am sure he latches on at night because he is half asleep and very hungry. It is hard to express when you have no stores and they are so hungry and you have no-one to hold them. Lachie takes so well to the bottle once I express, but I soooo don't want to do this forever. I would like to continue feeding him, but this is just stressing him and I out! I am going to persist for another 2 weeks to get to 3 mths, then I am going to make some choices if things have not improved, like bottle during day and breast at nite. Will wait it out and do this dairy thing and see what happens.
-
Hi Girls,
Sheree ~ I know exactly what you are going through....my DS was very much the same. At around 3 1/2 - 4 mnths old he became a very lazy feeder. He wouldn't initiate the let down and I found that I couldn't do it by expressing a little to get it started. My AF also returned around this time and this impacted on the whole situation as well. This began to effect my supply and he began to lose weight. I persisted and persisted and 3 weeks later he went on formula, which I felt extremely guilty about. I continued to BF him for as long as the milk was there, but that didn't last very long. Looking back, I remember when I was pregnant with him, I wanted to BF for at least 6 mnths....I can honestly say that I was quite naive when it came to BF, I believed that it would come naturally, (I'm a woman, why wouldn't it). Once he was born I suddenly realised that it wasn't easy, it doesn't come naturally and BF isn't for everyone. By day 3, I was so sore I just wanted to give up. I made it a total of approxiately 4-4 1/2 mnths and it wasn't until months after that I began to feel proud of my attempt and that I had done the best I could. His first formula feed was given to him by my DH and I remember the instant results, but also how sad it made me feel. As my DD now approachs the age of 3 mnths, I am concerned about facing those problems again, but hopefully my knowledge and experience will lead me to the right decision. You will know when the time is right, you have BF for 2 mnths, you have given his immune system a great kick start, you should be very proud of yourself...I know that the stress, and an unsettled, unhappy baby is very overwhelming. Good luck with it, I don't think I have been of any help, just wanted you to know that I have been there too and I am here to listern and maybe give you some advice if you need it.
Lea ~ how did you first day back at work go???
Hi to those I have missed, hope everyone had a good weekend....Take Care X
-
Kellee ~ DP was supposed to COOK dinner Thursday night and we ended up having dim sims and a schnitzel pack from the local chip shop LOL! OMG @ Jaffa cake… and brownies!!! I think we’re going to have organize a special meet where we travel interstate lol. With food like that I think it would be worth it… ;) I’m getting into cooking now that I have the time but I can’t do too much of it. Being only me I tend not to eat it all before its time to throw it away!! YAY for Toby stretching out feeds! And poo for DH being back at work this week. It sounds as though you had a lovely time with him. DP may be taking some holidays soon and I think it will be strange… I’m getting into a routine now and I think he would disrupt that LMAO!!
Tannis ~ The keyring ones would be so great. I’m almost wishing I went to Pixi Photos now just to get them and the wallet sized ones! Oh well… Em has settled down with poo’s now but he was sooo bad for awhile there. And LOL @ Jayden playing under his play gym. Em loves his as well especially a new one I bought which flashes lights and plays tunes!!
Kim ~ You could never suck sweety!! That cot light sounds fantastic!! Where did you get it from?? Fiji sounds like a great place to go I’m jealous already! And that’s great that you’re going to a BB meet up. I went to one of our SA ones yesterday and had a blast. The girls are all lovely and I’ve got no reason to doubt that the Sydney girls are any different! Let us know how you go! I checked out your site as well. Works fine and I can’t tell you how adorable she is!! Fingers crossed that Darcy keeps sleeping well for you!
Shazz ~ I know what you mean about it not being the same. I know that Jess pops in to chat with her Due in June girls as well. And I have to admit that I rather like having you in here!! I hope Ryan has a better night tonight!
Sheree ~ You are doing so well hun to have persevered for this long with all the trouble you have been having. We will support you either way and at the end of the day you will know what is right. Surprisingly enough it was my midwife that said to me “Yes breast is best but you don’t want to look back at this time and not have enjoyed or even be able to remember it because you were so tired and stressed.” I thought that was a great piece if advice. BF is a wonderful thing to do and achieve, FF is also a wonderful thing as well. I also know that they have special formulas for reflux as well. And I couldn’t stand to cut dairy from my diet!!! That would suck for me you poor thing!! Wow at taking over a new place come the end of the year – are you more excited about it this time? The timing seems a lot better!
Vic ~ DP looked after Em while I was at work. He managed quite well and even had a roast chicken ready for dinner when I got back!! I didn’t end up joining the gym because I figured I could probably tone up without spending $16.50 @ week. I have to wait until Em is 3 months to put him in the crèche anyway so I will see how dedicated I am in the next few weeks!
Jess ~ How is Patrick doing now? Did you get a good nights sleep? LOL @ Jack informing you of it being his last camp!
Jodie ~ Sounds as though you’ve really benefited from sleep school and having Pinky Mckay visit. Lucky you! I would love to be told how to read signs if you know what I mean, like when they’re tired, hungry etc. I think I have it worked out and then realise that I don’t LOL… I know we’re not supposed to know everything but I feel so bad and stupid when I figure out something that has been bleedin obvious for days!! Sounds as though Shaun is discovering the same things as Em!
Beck ~ LOL at your crazy night – sounds like lots of fun ;) Jovi sounds like Em in the shower though we had another one today and I got a few smiles out of him. Surprisingly enough I find the shower easier to wash him etc in comparison to the bath! Though I must admit to having visions of him slipping out of my arms!! Good luck going back to work this week! Let us know how it goes! You make cloth nappies seem so easy!! Where do you get the liners from? And how much was your outlay on the cloth nappies??
Sara ~ Briley is just adorable!! How was Cairns? If I had a girl she’d be in pink all the time too LOL!!! I healed up fine btw – I think things are even better then they were before surprisingly.
Mummy ~ Work was the same old same old as I’m sure you know ;). People turning p[ for shifts they weren’t rostered for, mouldy cheese, dirty registers and more mouldy cheese etc etc. D you miss it lmao?? It’s a good job and will hopefully bring me extra $ while I study over the next few years. TBH I can’t imagine not working at all – I’ve worked two jobs for so long I think I have issues LOL.
Wow I had a lot to catch up on – this is a huge post LOL. It’s late and I’m tired LOL so forgive me if parts (or all of it) doesn’t make sense. I also have a feeling there’s an awful lot of exclamation marks hehe! I’ve been flat out all weekend – at mums Friday night, BB meet up Saturday, my dads Saturday night and then I worked today. Work wasn’t too bad. Pretty busy which makes the time go fast! I think what makes it easy is that its only 4 hours and the money I earn is just extra money on the side – I don’t actually need it IYKWIM. Its going to keep Em in cute clothes I think LOL!! Tomorrow I’m going for my walk and getting a few chores done. Then I’m going to a friends to watch the final of Big Brother! Sad I know LOL…
OK a strange item that I absolutely LOVE to death… Aquim Hand Disinfectant. It’s an antibacterial gel that you put on and it drys instantly meaning you don’t have to wash your hands or anything. Great for after nappy changes. I love it so much I’ve got a little one for the nappy bag as well! I also love my Baby Bjorn, our new Tummy Time Gym and this really cool wrap someone gave me. Its like a straight jacket and keeps Em all rugged up tight!
Finally just got Em to sleep. I’ve been a bit lazy and the last 2 nights he has slept with me (I love the snuggles!!) but back into his cot tonight!! Will pop in tomorrow girls. Claps to anyone that has it this far!! Night!

morning girls
how is everyone today
i'm delirious (sp) with lack of sleep but what can you do i think i have figured out whats up with our little guy - his getting his itty bitty teeth apparently i had a spaced out night my hubby informed me this morning that he was scared for his safety last night his version of the story goes like this
when he came to bed i was apparently awake and watching tv ( i can't remember this at all) he turned the tv off and i rolled over yelling at him to wash the knives and forks in the bath room and when he kept asking me what i was talking about i got angry and started hitting him ( nope don't remember this either ) he got up and shut all the doors so he would hear me get up apparently he reckons incase i decided to get a knife lol Nice ... the trust where is it ( ithink he was feeling guilty for not helping more ) all he could do the morning was laugh at me i really don't think this is funny as i can't remember a thing i do remember getting up to ryan though oh god i need sleep ......
but on a brighter note
i go back to work next week for 2 days a week i'm really looking forward to a bit of me time ( i have a cushy job )
-
OMG Shazz at being delirious. One of the girls at the BB meet said with her first she got like that. Apparently she had her little boy in bed with her and a pillow fell off the side of the bed and she was on the floor hysterical with tears because she'd dropped her baby. Her DH couldn't really work it out LOL... funny in hindsight but scary that you can get that tired. I hope you get some sleep soon! It'll be good to go back to work for 2 days a week too. Do you have family looking after Ryan or is he going into childcare? I really have to remember to book Emerson in for childcare... Otherwise he won't have a place when I need it!!!
-
I think it might be the same here! I just keep forgetting. There have been a few new ones open up around here. I'm going for a walk today and its on my list of things to look into ;) I'm thinking of booking him in 2 days a week from March next year. Funnily enough I feel sick at the thought of doing it so I hope I'll be alright. I'm hoping to go back to studying rather then full time work next year. Which means I don't have to put Em into full time care which I would prefer. Hmm... just rambling out loud now. Em woke for his bottle then by the time I got back with it he was asleep LOL.
