same here Jodie ~ you look great i'm so glad you and little shaun are getting some sleep now
Jodie, you couldn't hardly see what you had on so it didn't matter in the night ones, but you still looked great for a sleep deprived person!!
Shazz, glad you went OK today. Was thinking about you.
Well Nat I'm glad you finally got into it!! - not sure we believe you though after all these promises LOL!! :P
I'm just waiting for Darcy to wake up.....come on baby mummy wants to go to bed...she's sleeping really well ATM so I can't complain, but she wakes up around 5.30-6am and talks to herself. I can hear her in the monitor. I figure as long as she's not crying she's ok. She even has 2-4 daytime sleeps now - a couple before and a couple after lunch and then goes down from about 5-9 and then 10-2. I think someone switched babies on me....
ACA: I looked like I had no neck/3 chins !!! Oooh... the camera doesn't lie! Looks like I'll be joining the gym quick smart.
I didn't know the other mother... but I think I've seen her somewhere? I went to Pinky's book launch... so maybe she was there? I'm assuming she's a belly belly member too...
The article is on the ACA website... if you didn't get to see it. You go to ninemsn.com.au/aca and hit the baby article.. then hit video.
Pinky was nervous about them distorting the interview. And it happens! But they put her in a good light, which is good. She is so lovely.
Nappies: I've been a nappy junkie in the last 9 weeks. I have tried out Huggies, target, Babylove and Snugglers. In honesty; I have found Snugglers to be the best one for Shaun - which some people are surprised about. I found the babylove were shocking, and he constantly leaked. I ordered some nappies over the net, and the lady said that Snugglers aren't that popular... but they just suit some babies. I must have one of those babies. I ordered 'cheap' huggies - which come from Asia... but I haven't used them yet... so I hope they are okay. They seem to be geniune huggies.. just imported over because they are cheaper.
Hi Girls,
Well I reported in a previous post that AF returned, BUT I'm not so sure now....you see it only last 6 hrs max and dissappeared.(Please Explain, LOL)So I have made a mental note of the date and we will see what happens, strange...anyone else had this happen.
I took Little Miss Phoebe to the doctors today, she has Bronchiolitis. She is doing ok and have to take her back tomorrow, just so the doctor can keep and eye on her. Plenty of fluids and infant panadol for her temp, can get pretty serious so she is getting extra extra special tender loving care atm.
Samuel is back on the mend and that god awful running nose is starting to come to a halt, finally. I have a bit of a virus thing happening at the moment as well. Just a dry cough at night and a rough throat. So many people around are sick or have been sick. I love winter, but not the coughs and colds that come with it.
Sorry girls no personals, way too much to catch up on, But just quickly.....Nat are you really scrapbooking, (on the floor) in shock!!!
Hey Girls,
Just a quick one....need sleep!!
Jodie: I was so upset cause we went out tonight I forgot to set the DVD recorder, but I looked on the website and you were fantastic!! Shaun is gorgeous!! So glad you are getting sleep now.
Jayden's check up went great, he gained 210 grams in a week!! SIL #3's place was good, she made a few coments that weren't too bad, like " he doesn't look like he's grown, he's still very small!" I said "Well there is nothing wrong with him he is happy and healthy and definatley getting enough milk!" I wanted to be a B**** but it wasn't as justified as her last comment. Anyway Jayden is sleeping (hopefully for the night) and DP is on night shift...YAY the bed to myself!! I'll do personals and more about last night tomorrow.
Night oxoxo
Hey Girls!
I missed ACA aswell and I'd been looking forward to watching it since last week - why did they have to change it!!!
I'm so glad that you are all talking nappies as we're going through the 'trial and error' with them all at the moment. We're on Snugglers and they're ok but there have been a few 'blowouts' so I don't know. Huggies are great but soooo expensive. I might try Babylove after hearing how many of you said that they were good. It's hard to know and you have to buy so many! My parents-in-law live in Vic so I might get them to bring over some Aldi nappies - my father-in-law thinks Aldi's is the greatest shop in the world!
Well i paid a visit to my obst today as I had some granulated tissue that had grown where the stitches from my episiotomy were. Had to have a local at the site and then he cut it off and then sealed it with some silver nitrate - very pleasant...NOT!!!! I tell you, just when I thought it was all over! Oh well, it's ok now, I'll be feeling better in a couple of days...i hope!
Mason is doing well - weighing in at 6.58kg - he's a little chubber! It's all breastmilk so it's ok but people do call him chubby...mmmmm????? No, I'm just glad I could breastfeed in the end after all the problems I had in the beginning and nearly giving it up.
Did anyone hear about the mothers magazine in the US that came out with a pic of a baby breastfeeding? They had 5000 letters of complaint - all from women complaining about how disgusting it was and how they had to hide the mag from their husbands as they would get offended - WHAT!!!!!! From what I read in a lot of American Mothers books, they don't breastfeed, it's straight to the bottle. Kinda makes you proud to be an Australian (even if we do have John Howard for a Prime Minister!).
Anyway, I'm gonna try and put the little one down now - soooo tired. Hopefully I'll be back on tomorrow - I'm enjoying this forum
Night everyone :asleep:
Wow Bec - Mason is a great weight! Particularly as he's BF. (and he is sooooo cute!!!) I've seen some huge FF babies and I'm paranoid that my (FF) baby will turn into a beach ball. It's my overweight insecurities coming out. Hopefully he will get his daddy's super skinny genes.
If you want to see the ACA video, you can check it out at the ACA website. See the instructions above to access it.
And that's just sad that the Americans are offended by breast feeding. I feel for the poor mums that want to BF and have to 'hide' to do it in public. It's just wrong. I wonder if they have the baby rooms like we do in shopping centres?
Jodie ~ Downloading the ACA video now, Broadband isn't available where I am so dial-up is extremely slow...looking forward to having a look at it (if it will let me). I sat down on Monday night all excited to watch the show and when it wasn't on I was quite disappointed.
LOL we can talk ladies!!
Shazz ~ LOL @ exploding. I'm so glad that your boss let you start an hour later. I think I would be just as upset to leave Em!! I will have to try Babylove next I think. I won't be posting the page I did today LOL ;) It was the second part of a joint page so I had to run with the theme I was working with last time and it just wasn't happening for me! I also need a bigger desk!! But it was good to get started again! Can't wait to do more!
Sheree ~ Bummer about dropping off. How are you and Lachie going?
Vic ~ I completely agree with you. I am happy to pay for them and they are good but in hindsight it is $ literally being thrown in bin rofl. So the less spent the better. I can see that Snugglers probably wouldn't hold an overnight nappy but they seem to do fine during the day. Babylove will def be the next brand I try hehe! LOL @ Mel cutting 2 teeth - yay for her!!!
Jodie ~ I was out and forgot to set the tape. I need to download some software to watch it so I will get to it over the next few days! I can't wait to see it!
Kim ~ I wasn't tricking I promise hehe! I spent alot of time organizing before I started and I've decided I need another desk in my study!! Especially if I go back to studying. So I want a desk with a bookshelf on top... how any of this proves I scrap booked I have no idea!! Great to see that Darcy is sleeping for you! I'm taking a leaf out of your book and I'm going to try easing Em into a routine.I have a feeling he will respond really well. If he doesn't then we will go back to the way things are now but something you said about Darcy made me think Em would appreciate the routine. LOL I'm too tired to remember what exactly!!
Tania ~ Yay for the bed to yourself. I couldn't imagine sharing my bed full time any more. DP takes up so much room rofl!! And double yay for Jaydens weight gain you must be so relieved and happy!! LOL @ SIL#3... some people!! I think you handled it well!!
Bec ~ Ouch your doctors visit sounds painful!!!And Mason is going great - that's huge rofl!! I love chubby babies - babies are meant to be chubby!!! I will have to get Em weighed again this week to see how he's going! Its been two weeks and last time he was 5.27kgs. That sound terrible about the US magazine. How horrible... def proud to have Australia support and promote BF so much. Couldn't imagine things being different TBH...
Mummy ~ How are you? And hows that scrapbooking? We have to get together for a scrapbooking morning hehe! I need some one to vent to rofl - today I had issues with crinkle cut scissors....I was so frustrated I reminded me of a 2 year old!!!
Well I really have to go to bed rofl!! I am going into the city tomorrow for lunch with some old work friends and to do a bit of shopping. It will be Em's first train ride so I'm excited. Also going to try this routine thing so fingers crossed it works and he behaves etc etc!! Will pop in before I head out of course!! Night night!
Jodie - just checked out that link, I missed ACA too. So other then baby massage what did Pinky teach you, can you fill me in. Glad Shaun is sleeping better for you now.
Tanya - did I miss your post how did your b/f session with Alyson go?
Mummy4life - yeah I bleed on and off all the time, you didn't happen to DTD did you, or miss a pill? Are you on the mini pill too?
We are meeting up with 3 other ladies from antenatal today should be good.
Oh and with the nappies, I thought we had grown out of newborn (huggies), but now we have gone up a size 4-8kg (in the Huggies and Baby Love) they just seem to big, does anyone else have this problem. I try to do them up realy tight but to do that I have to overlap the velcro!!! Is Lachie just too small and I should keep persisiting with the newborn ones????
Jodie, I saw it and you did great! Shaun is such a cutie - he is going to break some hearts when he is older LOL. I am pleased it turned out so well for you.
Sheree ~ A few times I thought that Em had grown out of the Newborns but he could still fit into them. The biggest sign for me was that they started leaking (I wanted him to stay in Newborn for as long as possible hehe. I remember when the new born was too big for him :() Then silly me picked up the wrong nappies and got 6 - 11kg Crawlers... and I was wondering why they were so big!! Doh!! I have swapped them tho I haven't had a chance to use them yet. The Snugglers 4 - 8 kg fit perfectly though I can't imagine them fitting him when he's close on 8kgs...? I hope you have a great meet up today.
Well so far so good... We had a bottle @ 7 and the next one is planned for 11 which will be when we're on the train which is good. He is just nodding off to sleep in my arms now. Seriously considering whether I should do my exercise tape before I have my shower... I haven't done it ONCE yet... I'm not sure if I can do both scrap booking AND exercising in a 48 hour period though rofl...
Hello,
Scrappy im doing ok how are you, thanks for asking babe, getting there slowly. It has been extremely hard with the sleep deprivation and poor Katerina's colic. I have started the chiro to see if that will give her some relief. Hope it does her some good as she actually slept better last night but I did have her in bed with me so I did not have to get up a million times. Im giving anything a go.
Shazz, How does it feel to be back at work? It must be so nice to get some time to yourself hey? How is little Ryan going? Is he a good boy?
How is everyone else and their little ones going?
Ange - So good to hear from you. I hope that Katerina's colic settles down. I find Em will sleep better in my arms and if he settles in my arms before I put him down he stays asleep longer in comparison to him self settling. How often is she up during the night?
Em & I are going very well. Like I mentioned in previous posts I am trying him on a routine today so we will see how that goes. I'm going to introduce a morning walk (nice idea girls - sets a routine and I get exercise!) and a night time bath and 4 hourly feeds and see how we go.
And folks I just did my exercise tape.... OMG
Morning Everyone,
We didn't get a full night sleep, but it wasn't too bad. Jayden went to sleep at about 11pm then woke at 4am then 5.30am, after that one I left him in bed with me as his poor lil hands were sooo cold!! Then DP woke us up when he got home at 7.30am (GRRR).
Bec: 'OUCH' it sounds painful! Or at least very uncoomfortable. I hope you are feeling better soon!! Mason is huge!! But oh so cute!! Your obviously doing a great job with BF now. I read something about that US magazine, I don't think it was that bad all you can see is skin you can't see a nipple. Those 5000 ppl obviously had nothing better to do with there time! I've heard a bit about Aldi nappies maybe I'll give them a go. Jayden had 1 newborn babylove not long ago as a friend had spares from her daughter, they seemed fine but getting too small for him so I didn't take the rest and I still haven't got the snugglers off her but the ones I tried were fine for day but haven't tried them at night.
Nat: When I first moved otu with DP (OMG 9years ago) I used to love just paying the bills cause I was spending money LOL how sad!! Despite having the bed to myself, I always sleep on my side!! I try to sleep in the middle but I always end up on my side again, force of habit I guess LOL. I was rapt about his weight gain, although I have been substituting 1 bottle at night it has given me confidence again that I am feeding him enough.....def the last thing I needed was SIL #3 making a b**chy comment like that. Hope you have fun in the city today, and Em will love his 1st train ride!!
Kim: I have no excuse for not going outside, its beautiful weather here in Bundaberg....I think its just laziness LOL I haven't used sunscreen on Jayden yet so I can't help, but my niece (3yo) has sensitive skin so I'll find out what SIL #4 uses on her.
Shazz: What an understanding boss you have, mine would be the same I think and I live only 5mins away from work. Taking the pump with you sounds like a good idea.
Kim: How cute that Darcy talks to herself and is happy to do that for a while before you having to get up!! LOL @ someone switching babies...How good is it when they finally start sleeping regulary. Jayden still changes his sleep times around a little bit, just to keep me on my toes I think haha but he is generally a good sleeper.
Mummy: Sounds like AF is confused!! Have you been to the Dr's about it? Hope everything is ok. Glad Samuel is getting better and Phoebe's sleeves are dryer haha.
Sheree: Jayden had gained 210grams in a week making him 4.85kgs (I really thought he'd hit the 5kg mark). Alison said he could be fussing because of something I have eaten or him still getting over his needles, so hopefully he is going to settle down soon. And of course as usual he fed perfectly while we were there!! Alison told me to continue with compressions and expressing so I can replace formula with EBM once I have enough but was happy for me to give him 1 FF a day to give me a break for now. She also gave me some info on Domperidone to increase my milk supply which I need a script for and also Fenugreek and Blessed thistle which are natrural. So I'll give it a few days to see how the expressing goes and if that will increase it without me getting anything else. How are you and Lachie going? Have fun today with the antenatal ladies. We have also gone to the 4kg-8kg huggies, thye were too big att first but they fit him good now, the tabs go to just either side of pooh and eeyore haha. If Lachie's not leaking in there keep them as he will probably grow out of the NB ones before you finish the pack. Jayden could maybe fit into NB still but not worth buying them now.
Angelique: I do that with Jayden too(put him in bed with me) but he had his cradle right next to my bed but I still hate getting up when its cold haha. I hope Katerina's colic gets better, good luck at the Chiro.
YAY Nat for doing the excerise video....I know I have one somewhere haha
Oh Alison also said DP's family are around too often and I really need at least 3 days at home with NO visitors....I said that to SIL #1 so we'll see how that goes LOL. So our aim today is a quiet one at home and maybe a walk to the post office later to post photo albums and DVD of Jayden to my friends and family in Melb.
I'll pop in later, have a good day everyone!!
oxoxox
Jodie259 - don't worry about your little one turning into a beach ball! And if he does, he'll burn it all off when he starts walking!!! I was a FF baby and was really chubby - I looked like one of those BIG beach balls! And now I'm ok, still trying to lose the baby tummy, but ok!
Lea13 - Yes, he is very cute. Don't you love their little wrists when they're all chubby! They're like on those china dolls. And the chin (or should I say chins!), it's sooo cute. I am very happy with his weight, though. I was scared at first that he was putting on too much weight but then the paed said you could never overfeed when BF so I guess it's ok! And Americans are so prudish! You couldn't even see the nipple, only the skin and the gorgeous little baby feeding. And well done for doing the exercise tape - that should be me! I'm so lazy, especially when a good TV show comes on (I'm a sucker for the midday movie). I just can't seem to get myself off the couch to put it in the DVD player, then I know as soon as I start it, Mason will start crying....good excuse, huh! I do walk quite a bit (when it's not raining). That sounds great about the walk and bath. Mason used to have night time baths but he used to get soooo excited that he wouldn't go down! He kicks his little legs and almost takes off!!!
Angelique - hi there! Have you tried holding katerina with her tummy on your arm? It's hard to explain - you know when you cradle her, instead turn her over and rest her head in the crook of your elbow and her body will rest on your forearm. your hand will be between her legs. I do that with Mason when he has wind and he loves it - stops crying immediately. Apparentely it's the pressure on their tummy's that does it. Don't know, you've probably tried it but thought I'd just mention it. Good luck at the chiro - it's awful when they have colic, makes me very sad!
Tannis - I'm feeling better today thanks! Don't their little hands get sooo cold!!!! Mason always has cold hands, no matter how hot it is in our room! I bought him some mittens but he likes to suck on his fingers so I had to take them off. And that's a great weight for Jayden. When i had my BF probs I went to see my lactation consultant and Mason did not fuss one bit - MEN!!!!!!! I thought she would think I was just making a big deal out of nothing but I think it was because i felt relaxed as she was helping me. At home, you're sitting on the couch going 'I can't do it - he's gonna get all restless and not feed AAARRRGGHHH!!!' And Mason fussed quite a bit after his immunisations. That and sleeping - he slept almost the entire day and that was great as he got over it a lot quicker. He's due again next month and I don't want him to have them!!! I cried more than he did last time! You just wish you could tell them that it's ok and for their own good...then again, I cry when i have needles and I know they're for my own good!!!
neverplan - 100ml is great!!! Especially off one side - well done!!! I usually get that from both Now you have that, you can give him a bottle at his next feed or at a feed and then express when you give the bottle. So you don't ever miss a feed....
Vic: 100mls is fantastic!! I'm lucky to get 40mls from both sides now!! Once (weeks ago) I got 130ml from one side, that was at 3am and I was so excited I SMS'ed DP at work to tell him haha. If you express a bit more before you go out you can give it to Adam tonight if he's going with you.
Bec: I have mittens for jayden too but his hands are still cold, the only time they are warm is when I have him in my arms or in his pram, so on really cold nights I put him in the pram rather than his cradle. The needles didn't bother me at all LOL Jayden was pretty good too he cried when the needle went in and then slept the rest of the afternoon, but whether its causing the BF'ing problems...who knows hopefully thats all thats wrong now. I think I am the same way at BF clinic, relaxed and I know Alison is there if anything does go wrong but at home there is no one to tell me what else to try. Just as we overcome one problem something else pops up.
Ahhh, the joys of motherhood!!!
Gees, a whole page to catch up on! I actually read it while you all wer still chatting this arvo, but decided on a nap with Darc instead of typing...
Jodie you so did not look awful! I thought you looked great! I even took notice of your freshly shaped brows!!
Mummy I'm officially not speaking to you - 6hrs indeed! In the last 5 weeks I have had AF for 20days!! (4x 5 days). I'm sorry to hear about Phoebe though.
Tania proud of your efforts with your SILs, and glad to hear Jayden's putting on weight. Was there good stuff at the party? Haven't been to one of those in ages. I love night shift too cos I can have the bed - doesn't matter whether it's him or me!
Bec, wow Mason is a good size!! How amazing is it when you notice 'a bit extra of them' each week? You poor love with the stitches issues! I thought I was the only one still having body problems. How stupid are all those responses to that article? The world would be a much more pleasant place if people wrote in to complain about the way some adults eat....
Nat hope you had a lovely day honey. How did that gorgoeus boy go with the routine? You should see my desk! Well at least the mess that covers it.....I want someone to scrapbook with too....oooh I could come for a weekend LOL! Only Joking, be fun to do it with someone else though.
Angelique so glad you're still around. How did you go with the Tresillian??? Please tell me someone's helping you...send me an email if you want to talk. I've been worried.
Sheree, wow still in newborns? I didn't realise how small they'd grown til I put Darc in the bigger ones - definitely less leaks. How's his weight doing? Apparently the pill does cause some girls to bleed and that's yuk. I'm looking at getting the implanon like Nat - can't cope with this anymore. I'm feeling a bit anaemic as I've never bled this much in my life!!Sorry TMI.
Anyone spoken to Kellee?
Vic, I was only joking about the teeth - good to hear they're through though.
Can you all belive my beautiful girl is 3 months old today???
good evening ladies
no where is Kellee ????? Kellee where are you K E L L E E !
well girls i got through 2 whole days of being away from Ryan and i didn't even cry today when i dropped him off and when i got there to pick him up he was on the floor playing under a play gym giggling and flapping his arms and legs like a wild man so i think we can do this daycare thing any way i haven't caught up on the posts yet hope you are all well and we will be back tomorrow inbetween washing the mountain of laundry night every one i'm off to bed i'm knackered :bedtime:
3 months today little Darcy how time flies
Hi Girls,
Well I haven't been to see the doctor about AF, 6 hrs just doesn't seem right. It was a bit strange, as it wasn't your typical colour IYKWIM and it was extremely thick (sorry perhaps to much info)....so I don't know if I can even really say if it was truly AF. Have had quite a bit of cramping on and off for the past 2-3 weeks, like something is happening. See how it goes!!!
Took Phoebe back to the doctors today, even though she still has a slight wheeze and a rotten cough, her temp is down since yesterday and her nose appears to be clearing up. The doctor said that seeing as she has made an improvement, he doesn't need to see her again, not unless she goes down hill. She is still sleeping and feeding really well, so fingers crossed. Don't know if you guys have used those nasal drops FESS for your babies...but it works a treat.
Sorry again, no personals....haven't had chance to go back and have a read to see what you and your bubba's have been up to.
Take Care X
Woo Hoo, have graduated to a Kidlet....sorry just had to point that out!!
Sorry about the lack of posts lately - barely been around.
Kim - I use the Mirena which is an IUD. Has some side effects but they go away. I used it for 5 years before I fell pg with my first daughter. I got it put in last week and getting some spotting now.
Vic - 100mls is great from one boob at night. The evening is generally a time when your milk is at its lowest. Morning milk is generally more plentiful. If I express at night I get about 100mls from each boob. I have just expressed now 445am from one side and got 220 mls (travelling for a couple of hours today and need to bottle feed). Left the other side for DS when he wakes up which he is doing now!
Will pop in soon again.
Shan
Morning Girls,
Kim: Thanks, I'm learning to be more upfront LOL. I go to too many of these parties!! That Friday I had 2 undercover wear parties, this Saturday I have a jewellery party and on the 21st I have a candle party!! Undercover wear has some good stuff, I didn't buy anything though, not untill I'm back to pre-preg weight. Happy 3mth birthday for yesterday Darcy!! How quick does it go!!
Shazz: Well done for getting through 2 day of CC!!
Mummy: I would get that checked out especially if you have been getting cramps as well, it might not be anything but better to be safe than sorry. So happy Phoebe is getting better, I hope she continues to get better. Congrats on graduating to Kidlet haha.
Shan: 220ml!!! WOW I need your supply I'm lucky to get 40ml from both sides, I'm about to express now so well see how much I get, Jayden fed from both sides about an hour ago so I probably won't get that much.
We had a perfectly quiet day yesterday...no visitors, no phone calls, didn't even get out of my PJ's LOL(I did have a shower though hehe). Today will be a little busier, have to pay some off xmas layby at Kmart and Target, buy some more albums and finally post them off today.....Talk about mountains of laundry Shazz.....poor Jayden has barely any clothes left (nice ones anyway) and DP has no more uniforms for work, so best I get into that too. Well the bathroom will be nice and warm now so I better go have a shower and start my day.
Have a great day everyone
oxoxox
Why aren't I getting notifications Nat???
Yesterday was great. We had a lovely lunch and I got some great Bonds gear on special for Emerson. Em was an angel and his feeds and changes just slotted in perfectly. He feed 4 hourly like a charm and at his last bottle had 230mls . We did the bath again last night and I will keep doing it as well. I haven’t started the walking yet mainly because today I woke up and could barely keep my eyes open… I was so tired I just wanted to keep sleeping. Even now after a shower etc I could still go back to sleep. Its very strange – maybe I’m just not used to such a big day lol!!
Tannis ~ I love paying the bills too! I think its not only spending money but the satisfaction of actually having the money to pay it! LOL @ you sleeping on the right side of the bed. TBH so do I but things feel so crowded when DP is in there too!!! Sounds as though you’ve got a busy day planned for today. But whoo hoo for yesterday – that sounds brilliant!! That’s the kind of day I am having today!
Sheree ~ I don’t know hun. I just dropped off the notifications as well. I thought you were all just way too quiet…
Bec ~ LOL @ Mason getting excited when he has a bath. Em does but afterwards he has a bottle and then goes to sleep. Em is starting to get little chubby rolls on his leg which I love!!
Mummy ~ I hope Phoebe is going okay and you are as well. LOL @ graduating!! I never got to be any of the fun stuff! Just Teenrager and now Grown up … how boring!! I’m trying desperately to get to Golden Oldie rofl… which is 5000 post !!
Kim ~ Instead of typing last night I had a bludge night with Em on the couch which was lovely! I hope the bleeding eases. OMG @ Darcy being 3 months old… Em is 12 weeks today and I’m stunned the time has passed so fast!! You can come to my place anytime – a scrap booking weekend sounds great LOL!! If I’m ever in Sydney hehe…
Shazz ~ I am so glad that day care is working out for you. He sounds as though he had fun. You must be run off your feet though!! I hope you had a good sleep. How often are you working?
Shan ~ Hi its good to hear from you!
Kellee ~ Where are you hun??? I hope everything is okay!
Well we are continuing the bludging for the rest of the day. It’ll probably be our ritual Thursday night of hanging in the lounge eating take away and watching Lost hehe!! Emerson has a runny nose and a bit of a cough – no temperature though so hopefully he’s ok.
Big  to everyone!!
Glad your day went well Nat. And Shazz, see he told you he would be ok.
Sheree, how's those boobs going? Are you still doing the hard yards?
We have been out with my mum and my nephew today for a bit of lunch. I had the pixiphotos done when Darcy was 3weeks old and have only just had the huge ones framed so we picked those up too. They are beautiful. Can't wait to put them up on the wall.
I have made a very big decision today and I feel I need a bit of support, though it's totally understadable if you all think I'm being dumb. For the last three years I have had a pet corella. He's a bit smaller than a ****atoo and he talks - a whole lot. He is my bird as they generally align with only one person. Since I've had Darcy he's become uncontrollable. He hates everyone else and he's so so noisy. She doesn't seem to mind, but I think Cam's going to want a divorce soon (or snap the ****ie's neck). I love him to peices. He's got so much personality but is a certifed (really and truly) nutcase and has terrible anxiety disorder for which he has seen an avian behavioural psychologist. So I thikn I've decided he needs to find a new home. He might live until he's over 80 (he's only 6) and as much patience as I have, I don't know how much further it can stretch. I don't want to get rid of him but don't know what else to do.
Other than that, I have a firend whose little girl was born on the same day as Darcy (and Phoebe), and she was asking about websites, so I invited her to join our group - hope you all don't mind....
Hey scrappyfish, you poor thing! When Mason was born, our dog Cooper didn't get a look in !! Luckily he's always been an outside dog so there wasn't an issue of how he would be with mason. With your corella, does he live inside? Would he go outside in an aviary?? If he lives inside, he probably wouldn't like being alone but could you get another bird? Do they like other birds or is he a people bird? I think that you have to put your baby first (which it sounds as though you're doing), although he was there first. It's the hardest thing and we're lucky that we don't have that problem with any of our animals but if we did, I'd do exactly what you're doing. Maybe you could find a friend who would like him or your local vet would know someone????
P.S. - And you are no way being dumb!!!
Bec he's definitely a people bird - he doesn't even really know he's a bird. I couldn't put him outside as he's never lived outside - he shuns our avairy birds and gets stressed by things that fly overhead. He's a real nut. The huge pet place here is going to pay me for him and then look for a home for him.
aaaww kim your not being dumb at all you poor thing what a decicision!!! but i agree you have to put Darcy first and if you can find him a decent home where he'll be loved just as much as you love him all the better and yay on your friend joining more the merrier here ( he he she who is a ring in anyway says  ) any way we had a quiet day today visited nanny & pop thats about it i think the only down fall with Day care is that for the 2 days he ws there the staff rocked Ryan to sleep and all day this is what he expected me to do well i don't think so little man so tonight he is not liking me one little bit but he'll get over it  night i'm off to bed
ohhh a friend of ours finally is holding her baby daughter Olivia tonight after a very long hard time trying to conceive i'm so happy for them and i can't wait to see her it will be wierd holding a newborn again
Sorry just a quick one am currently expressing again so this is very hard 2 type but wanted to say hi to everyone.
Nat I am still not getting notifications am I doing something wrong?
Hi, I'm new to this section. My DD was born in early May. I hope you don't mind me joining in. Anyone got any hot tips on how to get my baby to stop crying and go to sleep. We have only slept through the night four times since birth. And she screams and screams, like someone is trying to pull her toes off. we've tried everything, thicker formula for her reflux, wind drops, gripe water, warm baths before bed, tummy runbs, cuddle and quiet time - you name it. HELP.
Hey Everyone.
What a day!! Left home at 11.30am and didn't get home til 4.30pm. I went to the parents room to feed Jayden and nearly 10mins later he detached himself but instead of crying he just looked at me and started smiling, then I went to get a kebab for lunch and sat down to eat and Jayden was sitting in his pram talking and laughing away....It was def the best he has ever been while we are shopping other than when he's asleep haha. I got home to finally finish off these albums and when I went up to the post office to send them Jayden was under his gym happily kicking and talking....5 mins later when I got home he was crying his poor little head off and DP was just sitting on the couch and said "I don't know how to stop him"!! So I spent the next half hour trying to get him to go to sleep. I started eating dinner DP said he'll take him while I eat.....I swear it was 30 seconds later Jayden starts whinging a little and DP's telling me to take him.....an hour later I got to eat my dinner!! I don't know why he doesn't know how to settle Jayden, everyone is telling me to just leave Jayden with him and he'll have to work it out but I can't do that to Jayden, he gets too worked up and then it makes it harder for me to calm him down again. Expressing this morning wasn't very successful, I only got 40ml from both sides and I expressed a little earlier and got he same (we'll eventually make up enough for a bottle!!haha) Other than the probs with DP my day was busy but good, I think I got everything done haha
Nat: I love bonds, Jayden has Bonds Boy PJ's (he finally fits them YAY). I can't believe Em drank 230ml Great effort!! I hope your feeling better after your relaxing day...I'm going to have one of those (fingers crossed) tomorrow hehe. Tonight is the last night DP has night shift so I will make a concious effort to sleep in the middle of the bed haha
Whats dropping off the notifications?
Kim: Oh Kim!! What a dilema!! Obviously Darcy will come first but its hard to give up a pet too. Maybe you know someone that will take care of him and that way you can still visit. If he is that attached to you how would he go with another person? What ever you decide to do you know we will be there to support you!! I had to give up a dog years ago and it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make but one I had to make. Luckily now my 2 dogs and cat coped well with Jayden coming home, they are always inside but know not to go near him. My younger dog was a bit jealous at first but he's ok now. Can't wait for your friend to join!!!
Shazz: CONGRATS to your friend and welcome little Olivia into our world!!
Vic: Well done Adam you brave boy!! And good luck Dylan for your needles!!
Marlea: Welcome to BB, look forward to getting to know you and your DD. Have you tried wrapping her? Jayden has never been into that but some babies like it. Jayden is going through what I can only hope is a phase but having me holding him tight and walking around with him, it time consuming but it works. Not sure what else to try sounds like you have tried nearly everything!!
Well I have the opposite problem ATM Jayden is asleep and has been for a while so I know as soon as I get into bed guess who's going to be waking for a feed!! Hmm what to do??
Night everyone
oxoxox
Hi Marlea - and welcome!
Sorry to hear you are having such problems with your DD.
Tannis' idea about wrapping (tightly) is a good one. I did that for a while and it worked.
Obviously she's on formula (like mine) - how much (ml) are you giving DD each feed & how old is she? Have you tried to change formulas? Maybe the one she has disagrees with her and upsets her tummy? Talk to your maternal nurse or GP about that before you change though.
How does she sleep & act during the day?
I guess the key is to try and work out why she is so upset... hungry, hot, cold, overtired, reflux or colic... (the list seems endless).
A number of people have suggested Chiropractic for my son (who was a nightmare sleeper). Apparantly that can work wonders. A nice thing you can do for her is give a baby massage twice a day. Any 'natural' oil will do (ie: even cooking oil, jojoba, almond etc... don't use 'J&J baby [mineral] oil'
I was able to get into sleep school - and learnt a few settling tips that have been really handy. He wouldn't go to sleep, and would get so overtired in the evenings. Eventually he would cry himself to sleep as he was so exhausted (around midnight). Now I notice his "tired signs" and put him in his basinette awake. Sometimes I have to pat him or rock him a little while... but he goes to sleep fairly quickly. After a week of this, most of the time he just goes to sleep by himself without rocking/patting.
He had small dummies that would fall out and upset him. So sleep school suggested I get the bigger dummy with the round knob on the end. These have been much better.
I am trying to increase his night time feeds so that he sleeps longer through the night. He has got to a 5 hour sleep which is great - but I don't go to bed till late, so I miss the opportunity to have a 5 hour sleep!
Pinky McKay has a new book on baby sleep - it may be worth picking that up and reading through. She has some nice ideas and is into comfort parenting rather than controlled crying.
Can you book in for a sleep school near you? Ask your maternal nurse or hospital for details. They are a blessing!
Hope that she settles soon.
I understand how you are feeling... and sometimes the only thing that kept my hubby & I sane was knowing that it wouldn't last forever!
Quiet in here this morning???
So far so good for a quiet day here....no phone calls, no visitors, DP came home from work (and woke us GRRR!!!) but went fishing an hour later. I need sleep today, my dog was barking and scratching at the door to go out at 3.30am I got up to let him put only to find he had thrown up already, Jayden woke up with all the noise, so after I cleaned dog spew, I fed Jayden (after disinfecting myself first) then he thought it was play time!! Anyway it was nearly 5am when we got back to sleep......Jayden in bed with me and of course I went to sleep on my side of the bed again!!LOL
I'll pop in later

Good afternoon everyone.
My DD slept well last night. She must have known I was talking about her and wanted to show me up. LOL
I did something different though last night. I put the gripe water in her bottle. I am not sure if you are supposed to do this, but I thought it can't really hurt her. Seemed to work a treat. Fed her at 11 and by 11:30 she was asleep in my arms, so into bed she went. She then woke at 5. I didn't change her or unwrap her as she was crying with her eyes closed. She took her bottle, burped nicely, and was asleep again by 1/4 to six and slept until 10:30. WOW!
Tannis and Jodie - thanks for all your tips. She likes to be wrapped with one hand out so she can suck her hand/thumb. I let her do this in the day, but it's too cold at night. It's freezing of a night at the moment.
Jodie - Kaitlyn's on Karicare HA AR or what ever it is. It's thick and I think it might be giving her an upset stomach, thus causing her sleeping issues. She used to be on NAN and it seemed be okay but she would projectile across the room. :O( She takes 150 mls and has 5 feeds a day, sometimes 6. She's the same age as Scrappyfish's Darcy. (**Hello!!*), born on 9 May.
I might go and get a bigger dummy for her and try and get some info on baby massage. Does anyone know who and where they run courses, or should a book from the library, or info off the WWW be okay?
I have no clue these days.
I can hear my 'princess' now. Better be off.
Welcome Marlea9 - my son has reflux too and when he went on that Karicare Sensicare HA AR, he had terrible pains, but he is also Cows Milk Protein Intolerant, and just so happens that formula has cows milk in it. He was in terrible pain that day, now we are on a prescription one, I give him one bottle a night at this stage.
Tanya - Yeah on not being disturbed for a change, I on the other hand can't wait to go to Mackay to visit friends and relatives so that there are some extra hands to hold my boy I am sooo tired and just want to have a sleep.....
My boy has slept for 2 lots of 7 hours stretches the last two nights running, yeah, hope this continues.
Marlea: Good job, 11.30pm-5am is fantastic and to go back to sleep after that again!! I hope Kaitlyn keeps it up for you. I've heard of putting gripe water in the bottle, I gave Jayden gripe water mixed with water once and it seemed to work, but he doesn't really have a huge problem with wind so we don't use it now.
Sheree: How was your day with the other antenatal mums? How often do you come to Bundaberg? We should meet up for a coffee or lunch, I'll hold lil Lachie for ya haha. When are you going to Mackay?
Bugger SIL #1 is here......finish this off later :(
Kim ~ Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. And the more the merrier re your invite! What a difficult decision to make with your corella. Big  and all the best with it. You’re definitely not being dumb at all.
Bec ~ Hi how you going sweet?
Shazz ~ It would definitely be strange to hold a newborn again that’s for sure. I was rocking Em today and thought ‘Gee you’re getting heavy mate!’ They grow so fast!!
Sheree ~ Are you getting notifications now hun? I hope you get more stretches of 7 hour sleep!!!
Vic ~ Ouchie at the 3 separate needles. Sounds like a one person on each side jabbing is a better way to do it. Glad to hear that he went well though. And OMG at almost being 4. People say time flies when you have kids but until you’re holding those precious bundles in your arms you really don’t get it do you.
Marlea ~ Welcome to our Babies born in May!! I’m sure you’ll love it here. I really have no more advice about the crying. The other girls suggestions were great though. Glad to hear that you had a good night. My mum suggested putting gripe water in Em’s bottle when he had wind also. I definitely back the recommendation of Pinky’s book. Books and the internet are good but hands on stuff is great as well. Maybe try the written info first and if that doesn’t help look for a course. And of course we are always here for you! Also we never do a night change – the midwives said that they are fine overnight unless they’ve done a poo.
Tania ~ I’ve got a friend who’s DH was exactly the same as yours. She come over to my place one night and ½ an hour later he rocked up with their little boy because be couldn’t calm him down. In the end it took my friend going back to work at night for DH to finally learn. I suggest that you express and go out for the day. Turn your phone off and try not to think of it. Sounds drastic LOL but from the sounds of it he will just keep handing Jayden back. And you’re not doing it for you – you’re doing it so Jayden can bond properly with his father. Any way I’ll stop rambling LOL… probably not making much sense any way ;). Bonds is great isn’t it – I wish I had the bonds PJ’s they are so cute!! Notifications are the emails you get saying someone has replied to the thread. LOL @ the attempt to sleep in the middle of the bed. I still sleep on my side of the bed too rofl! LOL @ SIL #1 being there…. Everytime I see SIL # in your posts I have to laugh… I don’t even have one SIL rofl!!! Actually I kind of do but I don’t classify DP’s family as IL’s yet rofl!!
I was so tired and grumpy yesterday and then today Emerson decided that screaming non-stop was his favourite activity for some reason. I think he may be constipated again. I’m not sure what causes it though – his feeds haven’t changed at all. I’m really excited because I am arranging for Em to go to swimming lessons next school term. I am so excited. He will be a month early but he loves the water and its going to be so much fun. And I’m also booking him into Kindergym as well. Its every Wednesday and that will be good as well even though he will be a tad too young. He is very interested in whats around him though and it will be good stimulation that way. And there is song time at the end and he LOVES songs!! Oh well I best get going. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
Nat: I would leave Jayden home with him so he can learn but Jayden gets so worked up for no reason (or an easily resolved reason) I just don't think its fair on him. I agree though DP needs to learn and bond better with him, I often say "Jayden this is daddy....Daddy this is Jayden" Just my subtle way of saying DP doesn't spend enough time with him LOL. Can't you get the Bonds PJ's in SA? I got his from BigW, I have updated the website, there is a pic there of his PJ's they are gorgeous!! You are more than welcome to some of my SIL's I have 6 of them on DP's side and thank god only 1 on my side but she's in WA anyway. 5 of my SIL's live in Bundaberg!! SIL #1 didn't stay too long which was good and I got a phone call while she was here anyway. SIL #6 came over at about 5pm just as I was about to feed Jayden, then we went out for dinner with #1 and #6 LOL gets confusing haha.
OMG I did a STUPID thing tonight!! DP didn't want to go out so I decided Jayden and I would go anyway, SIL #6 was holding him so I thought I would go and put the pram in the car.......stupid me just opens the boot.....I put the keys in the boot while I folded up the pram and put it in and yes you guessed it....LOCKED THE KEYS IN THE BOOT!!! I haven't got RACQ roadside either but SIL #6 does so we called them out hoping they would be nice and just do it under her membership...but he wouldn't and it cost me $88 ahh well it could have been worse I guess. RACQ guy was telling us he went to a call earlier for a 6yo boy locked in the boot with the keys!!! He jumped in there while putting his school bag in because their cat had jumped in there, he was playing with the cat in boot with the keys when another cat came and jumped on the boot and it closed and locked!!! He was in there for 20mins before anyone realised where he was and 2hrs until he could get out!!
I should start adding everyone to my MSN hey....I was going to get my own MSN but I might just share with DP.
Have a good night
