Not selfish hun, and you are not a fruitcake - you are doing what you think is best for your boy. Just stick to your guns though and realise that yes its important for Blake for you guys to be together - that is best case scenario- however if you aren't happy and are not going to get what you need in the relationship eventualy somethings gotta give. I dont want to be a downer - I just have been through some pretty hairy times while I was pg with Iz, and know that I would rather DH and I be happy separated than miserable together IYKWIM. Obviouly we were able to work it all our and I really hope things work out for you both hunny. :hug:

Michelle, glad you enjoyed the movie! Angus is such a good boy!!! 20 is going to be a steep collection I think eekk!! Still waiting for my GK which I ordered on Tues and paid with paypal and chose express post, they got posted yesterday apparently and they didn't make todays post....

Ash, I really hope everything works out for you and DH, it isn't an easy step to try and patch up these things and far from selfish. Work will be a really good thing as well for more reasons than getting out of the one dimensionality as a SAHM. You will have the opportunity to secure a little nest egg for emergencies or a fun holiday!!!

Ash - I agree 100% with Tan. I think its fantastic you and DH are trying to work it out and I wish you all the luck in the world. BUT your mental and emotional state is just as important (maybe more so) than Blake's - if his mummy's not happy, he'll pick up on it, so make sure you're happy. Looking after yourself is not selfishness, its being a good mummy! I really hope you guys can work it out. And if Shell isn't interested in your WC nappy, I might be. From everything I've heard, they're a great night nappy but so blo*dy expensive I think DH would do his nut completely if I went and bought a brand new one after all the others I've just bought!

Michelle - glad the movie was good and what a good little man Angus was for sleeping the whole time! We're going to carols by candlelight tonight (DH's dad is in the choir) so I'll have to tell Izzy she has to be as good as Angus! Good luck with your shopping - I usually love Christmas shopping but this year with Izzy and pregnancy its really been a pain. And that's a gorgeous photo of Angus and your girls - you're a very lucky mummy.

Sarah - that is good that your MIL is so much help. I think I've made it hard for myself over the years by not letting anyone help me do anything (very stupid I know) cos now even my Mum won't offer to do anything (I know she would do anything I asked her to do, I just can't bring myself to ask. Stupid stubborn cow that I am. I now have 22 MCNs (no, I have no idea how that happened!!) although a couple of them really aren't good on Izzy. I think you need more for a newborn and I've probably got a couple too many for Iz (shhh) so we'll see how it goes.

Well, Iz has finally gone down after a very grumpy morning so I'm off to make some white chocolate and macadamia cookies to take tonight with us - that's if DH doesn't eat them all first!!

Lulu it's lime green in colour and I'm selling it for $25 including postage, whoever gets in first it's sold, I really need the extra cash right now.

Blake won't sleep. He's always had issues in this house but he;'s been awake almost 4 hours which is just ridiculous...He isn't really grumpy which is a bonus but I would like to have some sort of break!!!

Ash - I'll definitely have it, provided Michelle doesn't want it. You offered it to her first and I'd hate to get it just cos I had a bit more time on my hands today!! And I don't know what it is about sleeps today - Izzy was up for hours this morning, down for 30 minutes and then up for hours and hours again.

Noah started commando crawling!!!!!!!! He started last night, I am so stoked!!!

Sarah, yay for Noah crawling. Look out now he will be into everything!!! trust me when I say it won't take long to build up your stash. I just brought a few here and there and whammo suddenly I have lots haha!!! I just reg browse through all the nappy sites and look out for specials etc. Also lucky enough to have Sarah from the nappy bucket here in Townsville if I need to pick her brain!! Also you should check out the nappy threads on ere cause the girls often have nappies they swap or sell between themselves and are a great bunch!!! Except the thread moves so quick it can be hard to keep up!!

Tan, have you got your car sorted yet?? Did all the insurance and stuff go through?? WHat a hassle right at xmas hey!!

Had a pretty good day shopping, got lots done, but was so hard with Angus in tow. My gf came with me also with her 8week old, lucky I have the phil & teds so we chucked them in that and could speed around with one pram!! Got some funny looks though, Angus the big fat 6mth old and little girl 2 mth old, think people were trying to work out if they were twins and I must have overfed Angus and his poor sister missed out!!! Am thinking I might be brave and go again today, will see if this coffee gives me some spark!!!

I can take a pic on my phone and MMS it to you, I left my digi cam at mum's so can't get one on the PC and god only knows where my USB cable is for my phone (I'm notorious for losing and forgetting things).

Blake had his best night in a while, down at 7:30, up at 10:30, down till 4 and up for the day at 6:20 (ish, my sis came up and changed his nappy cos he was a stinker while I was still asleep hehe).

4 MORE ADULT SLEEPS GIRLS!!! I wonder how many sleep for the bubbas? LOL In Blake's case, many.

Hmmmm, I'm sorry girls, I know I don't do this often but I need to have a vent as I've just spent the morning having a cry to myself and I need to get it out!

I'm still worried about Mia's development. The only thing she's doing that she's supposed to be doing at her age is sitting. She doesn't roll (well, she's only done it a handful of times, but normally not on purpose) and just lies there. She will twist her body around if she's not facing the tv or something and she's on the floor and wants to look, but never actually rolls over to look at it. She has manjor tanties when I give her tummy time (which is 70-80% of the time she's awake!!) and I often have to put her on her back or put her in her play gym or hold her, to keep her happy. She hates being on her stomach and whilst she can weight bear on her arms, she has no concept of leaning on one arm to reach for a toy. Instead she just does her 'beached whale' impression and then reaches out for a toy. In fact, her tummy time skills now that I think about it really haven't improved at all for the last couple of months besides her rolling a few times. She's still at the same stage she was then.

She likes sitting and will happily do that if we put her there, and she always reaches out for things that are on a table etc in front of us if we have her on our laps.

Most of the time though if we go anywhere or do anything she'll just sit there. She has no desire to learn and explore - she'd much rather play with her own hands than try and grab for something that is just out of reach. If she can't get it, she gives up or has a whinge.

On the one hand, I'm sick of beating myself up about this all of the time and feeling like I've not done something I should have and crying about it all the time. On the other hand, I sit there and tell myself I'm being silly and that I can't help her personality and I should just let her go. I can't tell you how sick I am of hearing "Oh you're so lucky - once they're on the move you have to watch them all the time, you don't know how great it is with her just to lie there" - honestly, I want to scream. My sense of worrying about her being normal in her development does not correlate to the inconvenience of having to watch your child - I do that now!! I'd rather run after her than have to worry all the time because both you and your baby are miserable most of the time!

I just don't know what to do... every day that passes with her not doing improving just makes me more miserable. I've tried everything my MCHN has suggested and she either doesn't like it or doesn't respond. I just want her to be happy and normal!!

Kristen, I honeslty believe you have nothing to worry about. Mason is 4 whole weeks older than Mia and he doesnt roll either! He HATES tummy time, and wont even stay there for 2 seconds these days. He will not get up on all fours or anything alike.

Some babies are just different babe. Plus Mason only started sitting last week!

I am sure Mia will learn to do things in her own time. :hug:

Kristen, I agree, I think Mia is doing fine. Angus is a very proficient roller, but still can't sit on his own. My friend has a bub who is 3 days younger than Angus and he sounds the same as Mia. She has just actually taken him to a paed for a review cause her mchn told her there was something wrong with him. The paed seen him yesterday and actually said he is just lazy and will do thnigs when he wants to! If it was me though, I would prob get a referral and see a paediatrician for a check-up just in case. They are the experts and I would trust what a paed says over anyone. No one knows your baby like you do, and I think for peace of mind I would get her checked! Just my opinion, but to save you worrying and stressing I think it might be worth it! Good Luck :hug:

I agree Kristen, a paed visit definitely wouldn't hurt, but I think she sounds perfectly normal (probably not what you want to hear). Blake is behind in speech etc but physically is advanced/on cue, considering he was 4 weeks early. Babies develop at different rates and I know you're aware of this, so beating yourself up about it is definitely not going to help at all.
Mia sounds like such a wonderful little girl, if she has no desire to roll or crawl that might just be her way of doing things. As Danni said, Mason is older and is just sitting now, I've seen him in action and he's quite content to lay back and play with his toys, squeal with delight etc. Blake has only just started to be vocal, but doesn't make any sounds like dada or anything, which I know Mia does. I was worried, but I figure he's learning other things phsyically to make up for it. Alot of babies that take a bit longer to crawl usually walk first, maybe she's just building up to that instead of crawling?
Sorry to ramble but I feel what you're going through - all our bubs are totally different, not one is on the same level and I think that's the great thing about them - they are all diverse and we're all having milestones at different times. Imagine how boring the thread would be if they all did things on the same day - no one could get excited for anyone else lol

Danni - thanks hon, nice to know Mia's not the only one that hates it!! My MCHN tried to make me thinkit was because I didn't do it enough (WTF? If she's not being fed or having her nappy changed I put her on the floor so I couldn't understand that?!?) but I honestly just think it's her!

Shell/Ash - you're right, maybe a paed visit would just set my mind at ease more? I don't know! Thank you though!!

Awww Kristen, I know how it feels to think that your little one is behind, Noah just started rolling a bit more in the last week and most of the mums group bubs started crawling a month ago and seem way more advanced than Noah in every other way. It is totally natural to feel this way. I had a friend suggest taking Noah to a physiotherapist to get pointers on how to aide his developments as she did it for her daughter because she felt the same way. It took her 2 sessions to notice a major change but also said it may not work the same for me but worth a shot. Your paed will obviously give you the best plan of action although IMO I think you have nothing to worry about. They all develop in their own ways at their own time. Mia could just be watching and taking in everything first then spring a whole skew of developments on you and you won't know what hit you.

Just a quick one here, we have 12 friends over tonight for a Xmas party but wanted to give you this Kristen :hugs: I know it's easy to say don't stress, but I guess that's what makes us all great mums and I guess it is something that will never ease up even when they are at school and probably at uni!!! Don't feel guilty, your little girl is happy, healthy,chatty ;)and will do what she needs to do when she is ready. :hugs: again.

Kristen - I agree 100% with the others, but have to disagree with you chicky that she's not "keeping up" with the others. Mia may not be rolling around like Izzy is, or moving as much as some of the other bubbies, but she is sooooo far ahead in terms of eating solids, talking etc. I really think its just a case of them all doing things in their own good time - Mia has chosen food and speech first (girl after my own heart!!). That's all. I also wish people would keep comments like the "oh lucky you"s to themselves - they're not helpful and just add to our worries. Go and see a paed if you're really worried about her, but I honestly don't think you have any cause for concern.

Sorry but i'm not able to do a heap of personals (at the IL's) but I have had a quick read and Kirsten mother's guilt is the worst. We always feel like we are doing everything wrong and aren't doing everything possible to help our babies development. Sending you the biggest hug and your little girl is amazing and you are doing an amazing job!
Ash - good on you both for giving it a try but always remember that you need to be happy for Blake to be happy. What's best for Blake is a happy mummy. Hope every thing works out great for you.
Tan - I hope you are all recovering from your accident and so glad that no-one was hurt. Fingers crossed you get a new car real soon. Did you get to MG ok?

I know that I have missed a few but sending you all a huge hi!!! We have started our week or so away and it was chaos trying to get orgainsed as we've had torrential (sp?) rain here so getting our clothes dry was a nightmare so I caved and used the dryer but ssshhh don't tell Dave. Well we had an interesting morning (warning TMI). Dave and I DTD and guess what the condom broke GGGGRRRRRR!!! So what did my DH do? Slapped me on the butt, laughed and said I gave you your present early "Merry Christmas babe" and walked off giggling. I could have dropped him. I don't find it funny at all!! Livvy is awake and calling for me so I have to dash.
I'm not sure if or when I'm going to be able to get onto a computer until after christmas so Olivia and I would love to wish everyone the most amazing MERRY CHRISTMAS. Can you believe it? Our babies first christmas!! We hope that Santa spoils you all and our gorgeous little ones have the most amazing day.

Kristen - how are you feeling today? I totally understand where you are coming from, I am still worried about Ethyn's lack of sitting ability. I agree with everyone, each baby is an individual, which is why we love them all soooooo much. I have a friend (so called!!) who's baby is 2 weeks older than Ethyn and she is continually telling me what her DS is doing and is Ethyn doing this and that yet, cos her baby is!! Its so frustrating, I get to the point where I don't want to speak to her at all because of it!! Big :hugs:

Oh..so much has happened!!! Firstly, Merry christmas everyone. I will try my best to remember what i have just read. How does everybody do it? Sometimes i feel like i should have a seperate note pad to jot down notes b4 replying... my short term memory isnt so good. We moved into our new home on the 15th of december so it has been hectic and an interesting experience. Nattie is having some issues with her new room (but doesnt mind the rest of the house) I love her room though...its so girly and pleasant. (maybe thats it?!) Even our bird had issues and is happiest at the front door so he is in your face when u walk in....amongst all the craziness i managed to get the tree up for natties first christmas. :)
Yay Noah!!! Nattie is also commando crawling now..as i discovered when i found her under the coffee table a few days ago. She commando crawls to get to her toys and to us. I was wondering if now is the time to put all the safety devices around the house?

What a few days full of chaos! We are completely exhausted after running between both of our families and trying to get some time with us. Olivia was so incredibly spoilt that I still can't believe how much she was given. It was beyond rediculous (sp?). I have no idea how she is going to play with all these toys. By the end of it she was getting the hang of opening presents. We only had to get her started and she went crazy for the wrapping paper.
Santa did give Livvy her very fist tooth on Christmas eve (at long last!!!) and also the ability to commando crawl. She is now off and keeping us both on our toes. Going to have to do the baby safety proofing now. I really must thank Santa for that!
Sorry the quick self absorbed post cause I'm off to bed to catch up on some desperately needed sleep. Hope everyone had a fantastic day and your babies are filling your days with smilies and giggles.

hey guys, hope everyone had a magical first christmas with their bubbas!

I had a good Christmas - Christmas Day was nearly 41 degrees so camped inside in the aircon for DH's family Christmas - lots of chaos with kids/adults enjoying way too many presents. Two of my nephews got a sing star but the poor little buggers didn't get a look in with the adults completely taking over!! Boxing Day was down at my folks with extended family - outside under big trees in OMG 46 degrees!!! Izzy woke up from her nap so I had her on my lap for lunch completely naked to keep her as cool as possible. Warning for all not to do this - she pooed on me not once, but twice!! It was actually very funny - we decided she was doing it so she could have cold baths to clean up. Smart girl. Then into the pool for the afternoon. Spent the next day down there too with just my folks and us which was nice and quiet to recover - in the pool a lot of the time. Glad to be home now, but the house looks like a disaster area with all Izzy's new toys. She got sooooo spoilt and we are seriously considering starting our own toy store!

Dan - yay for Livvy getting her first too AND crawling. Start moving those valuables!!

Tan - sorry you and Iz weren't well for Christmas. I bet Izzy's cement truck made up for it though!!

Hope everyone had a great first christmas with their bubs!! Ours was great!! Ethyn got spoilt rotten!! my parents house looked like target toy sale!!! What with toys for Ethyn and my nearly 3 year old nephew. My parents got Ethyn the animal train, he commando chased it around the house!! Quite cute to watch. Ethyn has finally said his first word. After months of me saying "dada" he decided that "mama" was his first word!! I may not be around much for a while. I am going back to work on 2 Jan full time, and want to make the most of my last days off with Ethyn. Will try to get on here at night time, but if not I will be thinking of you all and your bubba's.

Hahaha Lee, it sounds just like our house, we need a storage unit to fit all of Noahs toys.

Noah got a V-tech Babys First Laptop, the FP Animal Train, FP Roll a Rounds, FP Sing Stage, FP Stacking Rings, Leap Frog Drum, Leap Frog Tad, a few books and a few other bits and pieces. And to think all he wants to play with is speaker wires even when he is surrounded by all these fantastic toys :lol:

Well I am going to get back to sitting in front of the cooler and watching the cricket, it is 43 degrees here today and I am not at my best after my adventures last night. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!!!

Iz got the FP baby blocks walker, the FP cement truck, a FP little pig thing that shakes, FP rollarounds, the FP swing then a Baby Einstein handle thing that speaks different lanuguages, a book called Alien Al from Al and the first page says "Izzy goes to different planets" haha, Dr Suess books, Guess how much I love you seasons books, Where is the green sheep board book, 4 colour touch and feel books, an awesome pink toy box for the lounge room from Al plus a gorgeous Bebe outfit, about 10 other clothing outfits from size 00-size 2 which is great, an Isabella ;) tree deco, a soft material bunny - dubbed "honey" from me, plus a Mr Silly book (about daddy). I'm sure I've missed a few things- isn't that ridiculous!!
I got a new camera - a Panasonic 10X optical zoom, I LOVE it - just need to work out how to use it! I also got a Seacret hand set from mum and dad, (plus they went halves with Al for my camera), a Brita water filter that Ive wanted for ages, a coffee plunger (Sarah - what coffee do you recommend!??) lots of vouchers so Im going shopping for work clothes!, chocolates and a tee-shirt!
Possibly left some stuff out!

Well anyway it's been hectic around here just lots of catching up with friends while they are all on holidays, plus having a pool means lots of bbq's here too considering the heatwave in Melbourne right now - 41 on New Years Eve! You can guess where we will be! We are going to visit Al's mum and dad later in the week when it cools down a bit and then off to the beach at Cape Paterson to stay with my sister and her friends who have hired a huge house for a week, so that should be nice! Im LOVING having Al home- its just been wonderful, and we are making the most of it seeing as I start work in less than 5 weeks now. :(

Right we have friends over for a bbq tonght (39 here today!!) so Id better go! Hope you are all fab and will catch you all soon!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! It sounds like all of our bubs have been spoilt rotten and us too! We really enjoyed christmas but it came and went so fast! I have no idea what to do with all the toys Julian received. Where are you putting them all? My living room resembles a preschool.

He got a Fp telephone that makes noises, FP telephone that doesn't make noises, Tad the talking frog, FP pots and pans, FP learning tool bench, Fp ring, FP shape sorter, a drum that plays music when tapped and speaks in french and english, 3 DVDs, FP thing that they put the balls in and it swirls around, 2 walkers one FP one another brand, FP cookie thing that makes sounds, safety 1st bouncin baby exercise saucer, FP laptop, FP learning table, bath toy set, FP grand baby piano, vtech baby driver set where they pretend to drive a car, a pooh bear fold out lounge, FP pull along animal thing in the train or is it a car, musical keys, 2 soft books the farm animal one and the peekabo i love you, lots of clothes, fluffy elephant, a pair of shoes, 5 cotton on tshirts with different sayings. I'm sure there's things I've left off as we left pressies at my inlaws as there was no way it could fit in our car.

We had an incident a week ago and i just wanted to tell you so that you are aware. I was sitting at a busy cafe with Julian at 2 o'clock in the afternoon when a man snuck up on us all of a sudden. He asked me a question behind me, something like I'm sure you are glad to get out of the house, I turned around to see who was asking me when he grabbed julians hands made cooing noises then dropped his hands to touch julian over his nappy. The first time I didn't know what he was doing as it looked like he had just let go of his hands but he tried to do it again, I grabbed his arm harshly and threw it away. The man ran off and I sat there dumbfounded. The whole thing happened in less than a minute. I never thought I'd have to deal with this stuff at 8 months. I'm relieved that he hadn't waited to follow us to our car but it has left me very shaken. Take care with anyone who approaches you. I spoke to the police and I realised that this stuff happens all the time though not usually to 8 month old babies, but far worse things can happen like kidnappings and assaults. Sorry to be a downer but I would hate something like this happening to one of you. I realised that these predators target the vulnerable (I was on my own) and they are very clever at what they do.

I also agree that it is great to have our hubbies home. I feel like I am on vacation too. Pat and Julian have such a stronger bond now as he has been at home fulltime since before xmas. He reaches for Pat many times and doesn't want me which I think is great for Pat to feel needed.
