Babies Born May 2007 #16

Thanks dan, I sent DH to the chemist last night and we tried the sachet gastrolyte and I put it in his bottle, he had one sip and wouldnt drink anymore. He was OK though during the night, but he did this yesterday, had brekkie then didn't eat for the rest of the day, then started again at night. I am thinking he might just be nauseus so doesnt want to risk eating:dunno: Might take him to the Dr in case it is an ear infection or something - although he has not been febrile - Ah, I am at a loss. Hope Livvy gets better.

Lee - My Mum got the poos instead of the spews, so did my sisters kids, so must be some fine bugs breeding up hey! hope ethan gets better soon also.

tan - how is Izzy, is she still sick?

I am hoping Angus will be better by his birthday. His birthday falls on Sunday which is great cause we will have his party then also. having a pirate party in the park, cause my hand is still sore, I dont reallt want to have to clean my house from top to bottm to entertain here:p slack hey!!

Dan, lee, tan - How are the sick bubba's going?? Think gastro must be the sickness of the moment - everyone I talk to has had the spews or squirts :p yuck!

I took Angus to the GP today, and he sent me straight to the hosp :( Poor bubba boy. They actually gave me one of those hydralyte iceblocks thbigs Dan and he ate 2!!! First thing he has had in days. ANyway, they were worried cause he was so dehydrated and not passing much urine, and actually started doing my admission to stay with him. BUT then cause he ate the 2 iceblocks and seemed a bit happier, they let him come home and has to go back for a check to the hospy in the morning!!!! yay, was so worried cause they were talking about putting dowm a naso gastric tube to get fluids into him. So, thank goodness he has gotten out of that for now! I got a box of the iceblocks, and he has anotehr one since being home, so fingers crossed he keeps it all down overnight!! Plkease excuse my typing is hard with 1 hand!!!

Anyway, I bettr get organised, have to drop Shay at school then go straight to the hosp so have to have all my stuff ready to go!! Oh, they weighed him and my poor bubba is only 8.7kg. He has lost so much wt, he looks so skinny. He was 8.4 kg at 6mths I think. Nighty night!

What an ordeal Shell, poor Angus and poor you! :hug:
Yay for those ice blocks though and hopefully this is the start of everybody in your family getting better.............take care and get lots of rest hun.

Busy at work today and can't wait until the day is over.......quick question, is everybody who is ff switching to cow's milk? Elena is down to two bottles a day now and she eats really well so I'm thinking of introducing it.

Sorry to hear all the bubbas are sick :( Noah had a reaction to MMR too but only lasted 3 days, fever and minor rash. Okay gotta run!!!

Shell - you poor thing hun, and poor little Angus, I hope he is feeling better soon and the gastro pops do their trick ... I can't believe how much weight he has lost, you must be beside yourself. Hope your hand isn't hurting too much babe. I had a wire/pin (k wire) put in mine but it was the bone on the side of my hand near my pinky to my wrist and it was a twisted fracture so I guess the pin stabilised it while it healed. Nice. It still hurts now at times when I get cold.

Hi everyone! Izzy still has a bit of runny poop and if it keeps up til Friday I have to take her back to the Dr. She was also up from 2:30 til 5 last night :rolleyes: Not too sick, just wide awake - tried to bring her in with me but she just kept playing with my hair and the bedhead and generally driving me nuts and I knew she wasn't sick and awake - just awake so I put her back to bed and spent 2 hours going in and out! Ugh - she finally went back to sleep until 730 and is currently napping so fingers crossed she is on the improve.

Im FINALLY getting some little flutters - cheeky man is as bad as Izzy, I didn't get anything until 21 weeks with her too!
Right Im off to look at some stuff a girl at MG wants to sell on ebay but is giving me first dibs - lots of tiny boys stuff! WHoo hoo! Have a great day ladies!

I'm sorry its been so long between posts, I do try and pop in from every now and again but by the time I read through all the posts, I just don't have time to actually do one myself!! I'm going to try a little bit harder though coz I think about all of you regularly - especially over the last month or so, just thinking about this time last year!!! Its quite amazing. So.....

Happy Birthday to all our bubs that have turned 1 and in case I don't get time to post again soon, Happy Birthday to those that are coming up soon!!!

Lulu - You are such an inspiration!!! Congratulations on the birth of Elena!! It sounds like all is going well so far. I can't imagine!! Keep up the great work!!

Well all is going well with us. Luke had his birthday last week and we had a lovely party on Sunday. He got spoilt rotten and certainly slept well that night!!! I took him for his immunisations today too. He was extremely brave, only cried for a few seconds. I'm praying we don't get a reaction but we'll wait and see.

Sounds like the gastro bug has been going around - Luke's had the runs for the last couple of days, its absolutely disgusting and keeps bursting out of his nappy. I'm so sick of getting poo everywhere!!!! At least he's not vomitting aswell, so I should consider myself lucky. He seems happy though, so who knows whats going on. He's been sleeping soooo well too, although morning seems to be getting earlier and earlier. It ranges between 5am and 6am. He always wakes around 4am and goes back to sleep and if I'm really lucky he'll stay asleep until 6.30am. Its just too early but it could be worse.

Anyway must go. Take care everyone - I miss you all!!

Sangie - we switched Ethyn to full time cows milk as of yesterday, we did the whole weaning of formula, had a big day yesterday, first day of cows milk, and I decided that I wasn't going to steralise his bottles anymore. Ethyn didn't have his lunch bottle today, and hubby said he wasn't interested as he was too busy sleeping today!!!
Shelle - That would have been scary, glad it all worked out in the end, you can never be too careful, they dehydrate so quickly don't they.
Lulu - how's things going hun? How is being a mother of 2 is treating you.

Ethyn is going back to child care tomorrow, I had to go to work today to do pays, so hubby had today off with him. He had 2 solid poos so its all good to go back. I spoke to childcare today, they had to send 2 kids home this morning as they had the runs again, what annoys me most is that these parents send their kids to childcare, probably knowing that their kid is sick, but think that child care can look after them, therefore all the other kids get sick!!
Still trying to sort out the food for Ethyn's birthday, just want to do things like little pies and pasties and the like and just some small desserts.

Quick one here - WB Kelly! Glad you and Luke are doing well!!

We had our MCHN appointment today - Isabelle is such a little lightweight!! She is 8820gms and 75 cms tall! So she is in the 50th percentile for height and 25th for weight! Doesn't help that she has been sick and off her food. After chatting to the nurse too, I've decided to keep her on toddler formula for a few months, instead of cows milk because she is such a small and fussy eater and at least that way I will know she is getting some vitamins that she needs. She has 3 x 200mls bottles right now and she also suggested we cut one bottle out as she might be filling up on milk and that may be why she doesn't eat so much - arrgghhh so hard to know what to do but I think we will cut out her lunch bottle!

Michelle - how's Angus today? Poor little man.

Kelly - good to hear from you and glad everything is going so well with Luke. God I would kill myself with 5am wake ups!! Hopefully with the colder mornings Luke will snuggle under his blankets and sleep a bit longer for you.

Tan - YAY for little boy movements. Its the best isn't it? You forget how magical they are. Hopefully he will give you just enough to keep you happy and reassured but not so many as Elena gave me - she was savage!! I felt like she was kicking her way out a lot of the time. It must be the name - my Izzy is 20th percentile for weight but 70th percentile for height so she's a little stringbean. As my mum says though, she's perfectly healthy and at least weighing less she is soooo much easier to carry around and play with.

Lee - I'm glad Ethan is a bit better. Hope things go well for his birthday party. Very annoying about the other kids at childcare. I guess some parents are a bit stuck if their kids aren't in care, but that's no excuse for sending sick kids off with other kids.

Lis - I'm not changing Izzy over yet. The paed who checked Elena in hospital talked to us about Izzy's food intolerances and switching to cow's milk and his suggestion was to keep her on formula until she was maybe 18 months before even considering trying cow's milk. He has a child himself who is lactose intolerant and says his son just lives on soy products.

Izzy is finally starting to feel better after her vaccinations so that's good. She's adjusting well to Elena and is so interested in her - although a little violent in that interest at times!! I don't want to wish time away, but I can't wait for a few months down the track when I can see my girls playing with each other. Anyway, better go. Elena needs a feed (again!) and Izzy needs to go to bed.

Another quick one!

We have decided to start introducing cows milk slowly into Elena's formula bottles and see how we go! We also went to MCHN today and Ellie is 75cm (same as your Izzy Tan!) and a chunky 10.4kg lol! So yep I think you can all tell that she loves her food! We have successfully dropped her afternoon bottle which is great so now we are on one in morning and one in evening and I replaced the afternoon one with small snack. So hard to know what to do sometimes but its pretty clear that my little princess won't starve in a hurry lol!

Sorry for totally selfish post, gotta rush to pick up my car, hope all the little ones are feeling better!

I am up the duff again.... I have no idea how far along and I won't likely know until August when I am back in Oz. I even tested before I left but it was negative but just a couple of hours ago it showed positive as I was weeing on the stick.

At least it explains the fever and today the nausea. Now just to let things sink in.

I am a bit worried about the spotting I have been having for the last 3 days so I best not get my hopes up too much but it is still exciting I guess.

Anyway, still having a great time, just a little shell shocked now!!!

Hello again. Wow, two posts in two days, I'm impressed with myself!!!

Sarah - CONGRATULATIOS!!!! Thats fantastic news and try to not stress too much about the spotting, it is very normal and I'm sure all will be wonderful!! Wow, so many pregnancies, maybe I should start thinking about another one..... nah, we'll wait a bit longer I think!!!

Lulu - Its so great to hear that everything is going so well for you!! Yeah, the mornings aren't great in our household but its amazing how you adjust to them!!

I had Luke weighed a couple of weeks ago and he was 9.35kg and 77cm long. Like some of the other bubs, he was above the 50th percentile for height but just under it for weight!!!

I'm also starting to introduce cows milk. Just gave Luke his first bottle before his avo sleep but he only drank half of it, so we'll see how it goes. I'll give him formula again tonight coz he's not eating all that well again atm. I'm thinking he might be a bit off after his needles yesterday. He's got a big red lump from one of the needles, it's terrible and he's not really himself. He is sleeping well though - over 2 hours this morning and he's just gone down again!!!

Unfortunately I have some housework to do, so much go. Its so nice to be back!!!

So exciting hun!!! I had spotting with Izzy at around 6 weeks - so stressful, but all was ok in the end. Go see a Dr while you are there honey and take care of yourself!

Lulu - sounds like you are handling your two princesses beautifully - and you can mentor me in a few months time. ;)

Lis - That is great that Elena is doing so well hun! I wish Izzy would eat more and not be so fussy - takes after her mother though!

Kelly - lovely to have you back! I've heard a few girls saying that the needles throw the kids off a bit - Izzy is still getting over her cold and gastro and even the nurse today told me not to worry and come back next month so Im going to make sure she is going into it at 100%. Good luck with the cows milk!

Shell - :hug: to you all and I hope Angus is feeling a bit better and keeping his food down. Hope your hand isn't hurting too much too - how are you coping at work with it broken? Do you have a splint/cast? I just remembered too with mine that I had a half plaster cast that I used with a sling, and then later one of those splint things that I got from the physio dept at the hosptial - kind of a strap on thing.... (that sounds good ;) ) Hope it isn't causing you too much grief.

:hello: everyone else! I'd better go get this house sorted out - is anyone else just simply overwhelmed with toys right now??? I need to clear out all her old "baby" toys and put them aside for her lil' bro, but even so we need more storage. Im thinking one of those Trofast step systems from Ikea with tub drawers but how horrid wll that look in the lounge room :rolleyes: Cute for her room but it is up the other end of the house and we spend our days in the lounge/kitchen/dining area. Any ideas would be lovely!

Woo hoo Congratulations Sarah, that is fantastic news hun!!!!!!!! Like the others have said it is very normal to have some spotting and I remember having some when I was around 5 weeks.

LOL Kelly I'm with you babe. Every time I think of another bub I quickly put it out of my mind, I'm so not ready yet....!

Lulu so glad that Izzy is feeling better. It will be so gorgeous to see your girls playing together one day!

Tan I also have that 'toy' problem. I actually spent some time today packing up all the little baby toys into boxes. We have a toy box in Elena's room and another small one in our lounge room and I just rotate her toys between the two as she also spends most of her time in the lounge. I have accepted the fact that there are always going to be toys everywhere now lol! Anyway the one in the lounge doesn't look like a toy box and is covered in black fabric so it actually blends in with our couches and I just wheel it into the corner if we have visitors. Nobody even knows it is for toys.

Shell hope Angus is ok hun....

Just a quickie from me. Thanks for all the well wishes guys. Not sure what is going on with my boy, have had him on a fluid/electolyte only diet today to try and flush this nasty bug out!!! He is so pale and sickly looking though, even my Mum came over and said how terrible he looks. He is 8.7kg when they weighed him at the hosp, so is skinny too!! Funny though seeing as though he had a good head start being born at 4110gms. Anyway, all the kiddies are in bed so trying to catch up round the house. Thinking of you all, even though my posts are so selfish lately. WIll try and catch up prop soon.

Woo hoo Sarah. Congratulations. Like the others have said, try not to worry about the spotting. I had bleeding on and off for about the first 20 weeks with Izzy.

Lis - good luck with the cow's milk. Hopefully she'll take to it really easily. And that's brilliant Elena's eating so well. Izzy is being so incredibly fussy at the moment (has been for about a month). I think she's actually surviving on fresh air and 3 bottles a day.

Tan - the toys are a nightmare aren't they. We have a HUGE toy box that Rein built for Izzy that lives in one corner of the family room and has about half her toys. The other half are rotated into a basket that she can pick and choose from. Also on the floor I have a play mat, an inflatable ball pit that is constantly up, a rocking horse and a big dragon thing that she shoves balls into. Add to that now is Elena's playpen, bouncer and play mat. My house constantly looks like a disaster zone during the day but I have just learned to put my OCD tendencies aside until Izzy is in bed for the night, when it all gets tidied away.

Shell - your poor beautiful boy. Crossing everything the lurgy has run its course and he can start getting back to his normal bouncy self.

Kelly - Izzy had a horrible reaction to her needles too. 2.5 weeks later she still has the little measles-like spots all over her little body and she's still very tired. I hope Luke gets better soon.

Had a very long night with Elena feeding heaps last night so today I am sooooo tired. I have to venture out soon to get a birthday card and present for a girlfriend for tomorrow. Not looking forward to it much - its a horrible day here today with really strong winds and lots of rain and Izzy is very unhappy about shopping these days. After about 15 minutes in the pram she's already had enough and is starting to throw tanties. She's having a ball now though - tipping up her ball pit and then crawling underneath it. She's already pulleld the dragon apart so I'd better go and entertain her before she starts on the tv and dvd player!

Lulu - Luke just got one of the inflatable ball pits for his birthday and its the BEST thing EVER!!!! He loves it sooo much, its fantastic!! Wasn't the weather crappy here today, I hope you managed to venture out in the small window of sunshine!! I had to work today, but thankfully the sun was out when I ducked down the road to grab a sandwich!!

Sorry for the lack of personals, I'm still trying to get my head around the sudden return to BB. Its not easy!! We had a rough night last night too. Just as DH was about to give Luke his bottle before bed, he did a MASSIVE vomit all over himself and DH. My poor little man - it was EVERYWHERE. He wan't himself yesterday and hardly ate anything, so I wasn't surprised. Poor DH wore it all though!! Anyway we finally got Luke down (but he wouldn't take his bottle) and he woke 4 or 5 times. We ended up giving him a bottle at 5am. Not nice. I had to work today too - which wasn't easy after very little sleep. I'm really tired tonight! Hopefully we'll have a better night. Luke's still not quite himself but he had two massive sleeps for my Mum, so fingers crossed he's on the mend. Not sure if it was just a reaction to the needles or a reaction to the cows milk as I gave him a bottle of cows milk just after lunch. Would it take that long to react with him - I would of though if it was the milk, it would happen a lot quicker?? Not sure though. I'll wait a day or so, then try it again and see what happens.

Well must go, I need to lie in front of the telly for a while and then get to bed early for once!!! Take care.
