Babies Born May 2007 #17

OMG Please tell that teething ends!!! Livvy was waking up and not going back to sleep last night. She woke up at 2.30, 3.30 and 4.30 at which stage I gave up and put her in bed with us and surprise surprise she slept until 8am this morning. I think it's her next tooth popping through. Gotta love teething. Livvy has woken up this with the worse case of nappy rash. It came up overnight and her poor bottom is red raw. She flinches whenever I wipe it and put on nappy rash cream. I'm assuming it's nappy rash but not positive as Liv has never ever had nappy rash. Any tips?

Tan - With all your prep you are honestly putting yourself in the best possible chance at getting your VBAC. And a huge congratulations on getting your Doula!!! How's your litle princess?

Jan - Great to hear from you and that Julian is keeping you entertained with his antics. Livvy is still having two sleeps a day at the moment and doesn't look like she is going to drop down to one any day soon.

Sangie - Hope your little princess is getting better. Did the dr start her on anti's? Is she still sleeping for you or are you sleep deprived mummy like so many of us at the moment?

I know that was a terrible attempt at personals but I'm absolutley buggered and have yet another headcold (thanks childcare) but don't want to take cold and flu just in case (yes I"m grasping at straws and trying to stay hopefully for this month).

Hope everyone else is having a great day. I've got a very exciting day planned revolving around housework. My house looks like a bomb as gone off in it. I also unfortunately have to venture back out into the world of toy sales today and after yesterday I'm not keen to do it at all. People were fighting over toys, pushing, shoving, slamming trolleys into you and the que for lay-by was 3 -4 hours long. It was absoltely crazy.

Tan - Congrats on booking a doula! We only just moved Elena from rear to forward facing in the car. She was getting too uncomfortable and I didn't want her to start 'hating' the car. But glad we made it rear facing up until this long........despite constant nagging from the ILs to turn her around, that's another story though :rolleyes:

Dan - hope poor Livvy gets some relief from the teething soon. I really couldn't be bothered with the toy sales and the crowds, besides I only have Elena and my niece to buy for this Christmas so its not so bad. Did you get any bargains? I've heard that a natural paw paw cream from the chemist is really good for nappy rash, I've never needed to use it buy my SIL swears by it.

Jan - we are still on 2 day sleeps here too, and hopefully that will continue for a while longer!

Lulu - thanks for the healthy chicken soup vibes, very much appreciated! I actually made chicken soup for us all last night.

Feeling very tired. Elena is slowly getting better, thank god for antibiotics! But is still waking up a lot at nights because of the coughing. I'm still feeling pretty ordinary myself.

I have some yucky news too. Did two pg tests yesterday and got BFPs both times. But woke early this morning and (sorry for TMI) was blood absolutely everywhere. Why why why did I have to test? :( Anyway, thankfully DH is home looking after us today, really felt like I needed some help with Ellie today, she is so incredibly clingy when she is sick and hard for me to deal with that today.

Sangie- I know where you're coming from with the IL's I have many stories to tell, one day we should just get it all out ;) :hug::hug: so sorry to hear about the BF not so positives :( Dont give up hope :) Hope you and Elena get much better real soon.

Dan- When you're up all hours of the morning think of me as Ill be up also. I know exactly where you're coming from with this damn teething CRAP!

Tan- Yes things are working themselves out, we're young and going through what everyone goes through at this age but with a bubs thrown in the mix ;) How is that lil man and lil woman going?

Dan - sorry Livvy is having such a hard time with her teeth. I often think its just as well none of us can remember our baby years - they seem to be filled with so much pain and discomfort. Good luck battling the toy sales. Not sure if I can be bothered this year - I saw so much good stuff after I'd laybyed everything in July. Still, got some good bargains. My parents on the other hand are getting very excited!! Crazy grandparents - I swear I have the two most spoilt girls on the planet. I keep telling Mum if she wants to buy more toys they have to be outside toys - there's just no room in here anymore! I hope your cold clears up soon and that you have good reason to avoid taking something. Can't remember who said it but love the term, so "pretzeling" going on for you here too!

Lis - so sorry sweetie. I know how you feel about maybe having jinxed yourself by testing. Good that your DH is home - I hope he's looking after both his lovely ladies today.

Jan - good to hear from you and great news that Julian is doing so well. Izzy looked at one point to be headed for one sleep a day, but not anymore. SHe is still having two sleeps a day and they're longer than they've ever been. I have even managed to get the two girls asleep at the same time every now and then - bliss when that happens.

Kass - I hope Annabelle's teeth settle down for her soon too, and that your life works itself out quickly.

Had an interesting time at swimming this morning. Izzy was just not interested (she normally loves it), and she has been clingy and whingy ever since. Elena is obviously feeling pretty average after her vaccinations on Wednesday (I still don't know how they can say vaccinating tiny little 8 week olds with 9 things all at once is ok) and is pretty grizzling so between the two of them its pretty interesting here today! Still, I've managed to bake brownies and ANZAC biscuits so far - biscuits and a cake to go. I have book club here tomorrow and boy those girls can eat (yes, I'm a book club nerd!). Anyway, better go and try to finish my book. Not sure I'll manage another 200 pages by tomorrow morning though. Oh well.

not holding out much hope of a bfp this month as we only dtd once that week :( we were both so *****y and exhausted. ffs this is really starting to take its toll on me. My best friend and my sister announced their pregnancies in the past two days, not to mention my very irresponsible SIL announcing hers a few weeks ago!

Very very quick one from me!! Sorry, I am doing extra shifts as we have some big bills atm, and I am so exhausted. Have been getting up at 5am as I have to drop the kids at Mum's at 6.15am to get to work by 7am!!! Is a huge effort and everyone is exhausted!! I feel really crappy still, have a sore throat and a cold on top of this nasty bleeding. DH has been really great taking care of us. Poor guy is pretty upset, we were excited on Thursday when I got the BFP and he quickly worked out EDD which would have been two days before my birthday. Anyway we have decided to step up the house hunting and hopefully find a new house in the next few months and then start TTC. And in future, I won't POAS until AF is very very late!

Have had a quiet couple of days with DH and Elena which has been really nice. MIL popped in this afternoon and asked if we were thinking about having a little brother/sister for Elena! My god can you believe her timing? We haven't told anybody so it was just weird that she asked yesterday. DH quickly changed the subject and told her we were going out soon. She got the hint and left fairly quickly.

Anyway sorry for the totally selfish post, going to have a lie down, hope you are all having a great weekend.

Lis - :hug: again , and house-hunting sounds like the perfect distraction... which suburbs are you looking at?? (If you don't mind me being a nosy parker! :p) I grew up in Croydon and would love to move back to Croydon Hills but DH prefers to be closer to the city and transport etc (God knows why when he never takes PT anywhere anyway!) but we are looking at Heathmont possibly now as well. Good luck with it hun.

Shell - you are a super mum doing those hours with 3 kidlets...:hug: Eat up your veg and fruit babe and make sure you take some vitamins so you don't get sick again....

Mabello- :hug: hun.... How is the painting and prep going for your new "kids"! You must be pretty excited! When do they arrive?

Lulu - you are my inspiration woman! I think you are doing an amazing job with the girls!!! Nothing wrong with being a book club nerd, Im not one but I am a book nerd!!!

Kass - Glad you are working through things and yep you are right hun! DH and I have been together for 11 years, married for 5 (next week ;) ) and we are still working on improving our marriage and now our family life! I don't think it ever ends!

Dan - how is Liv going?? Has her teething eased up a bit?? Not too sure about the nappy rash? Could you let her go nappy free for a bit with just some little pants on and get the fresh air onto it?? Izzy has never really had it bad at all and we haven't used anything at all for months, and now if it does come up a bit red we use the Aromababy Barrier Balm. Izzy is great! I have posted some pics in my gallery from yesterday, we had a birthday party and she was dressed as a fairy! Have you POAS yet???

Jan - Great to hear from you! Izzy talks in her own language and everything she copies from us sounds the same - buh for ball bear etc... dada for chair, daddy, mummy etc! and Mama when she feels like it! We are still on 2 day naps here, she gets sooooo tired if she only has one nap a day. Her morning nap is usually at around 10ish for 1-2 hours (usually 2) and afternoons are the same but usually 1 1/2 hours. She gets up at around 8ish most days and is up til 7.

Lis & Tan - just the thought of house hunting exhausts me. We built our house and when we moved in last February I told DH I was never moving again - he'd have to carry me out in a wooden box. These days with two little girls I'm dreaming up new house designs on a few acres out of town. I grew up riding horses and would love for my girls to do it too - it certainly kept me out of trouble with boys, drinking, drugs etc. Not sure DH is happy about it though, but I'm swaying him with the idea of keeping boys away for a bit longer. The poor love is already stressing about it!

Lis - hope you're feeling better soon.

Danni - still got everything crossed you get a BFP this month. Definitely get Mason back in the poor. Izzy has so much fun.

Shell - my God you work hard woman. Try and get some rest in there and like Tan says, eat well!!

Don't know what's going on but its been hard work around here lately. Izzy woke up yesterday so incredibly clingy - I literally couldn't put her down all day and it took forever to get her to bed last night. Combine that with Elena feeling lousy after her vaccinations and it was not a happy (or quiet!) house. Still, we've got tons of yummy stuff to eat in our misery - my girlfriend and her hubby who were supposed to come over yesterday after the book club nerds left couldn't make it so there's SO much left over. Yummmmmmmm.

Hey, how has everyones weekend been? I have been madly washing to try and catch up round here! Still looks like a bomb has hit, but I have tried!! Angus is such a little tornado - path of destruction wherever he goes!!

Anyway, I am trying to cook dinner also, so I better go! Have work again tomorrow arve, so have to try and be a bit orgainsed. And yes, all my mum's on here, I will eat my veges :rofl:

Aawww Tan Izzy looks so cute all dressed up for the party! Looks likes she had a great time! How did your tupperware party go? Yes Croydon Hills is on our list. We are hoping to stay fairly close to where we are now so croydon, mooroolbark, kilsyth, lilydale are all on our list. Yeah DH originally wanted to move closer to city too but we can't get very much for our money if we go too much closer! Besides I love this area and all our family/friends are close which is great!

Shell sometimes its hopeless trying to clean up with a toddler around, LOL somedays I give up.

Lulu hope your girls have settled down for you hun. The thought of moving makes me feel ill, I am not looking forward to that part at all and I've already told DH that we will be staying put FOREVER after this move! Glad my DH isn't the only one worried about 'boys' already! He already talks of getting a shotgun and that all potential boyfriends have to sit before a 'panel' consisting of himself of course and all of Elena's uncles. Daddy's little girls hey?

moving is the WORST! we had so much $hit to move....such hard work especially with a bub in tow. I hope we never have to move again. Lucky we have 4 bedrooms here!

Frantically been cleaning, painting and reorganising our house ready for our first "daughter" to arrive on Tuesday morning. Im very excited! then our second one arrives a week later.

I thought I posted about my "Daughters" last week?

anyways...we are getting two international students to stay at our place. First one arrrives tomorrow and she is 17 and the second one is only 10 years old!!

Ha, glad you cleared that up D, I too was wondering who your new "kids" were!! How exciting, should be fun! Not sure whether I would send my 10yr old across the world though???

Anyway, just flying by to say hi, am off to work....again...!! Have so many bills due, am trying to work as many shifts as I can. Is not too bad, Mum has them from 2.30pm till about 6pm, then DH picks them up and brings them home, then I get home about 10pm. So Mum is not bombarded with 3 kiddies all day!!! Hopefully have tomorrow off to catch up prop!!

Dan - so sorry. Hoping like the others have said you were just a bit early.

I've had a pretty awful few days and spent a lot of time in tears. Elena has been really grouchy since having her vaccinations last week and I have no idea what is wrong with Isabelle but she has been a clingy, whingy nightmare. My poor girls have both been very demanding and there just hasn't been enough of me to go around. Poor DH hasn't known who to look after first over the last few days. I went to my folks for the day today and I think DH was very relieved to see us all leave him in peace this morning! The up side is that El seems to be getting a bit of consistency with her night feeds. I give her a feed around 10.30 pm and she seems to wake around 4am, and then again about 7.30 or so. Pretty civilised. Can't wait for that 4am sleep to disappear but I have a feeling that won't happen for some time. Sorry for yet another selfish, whinging post.

Ok so not much happening here. Still trying to get missy back into her routine, or a new one since her teething! Other then that I also love this age! We have such a close bond and she always wants to snuggel. LAtely around 3am-4am she's been hoping into bed with us. DP said he loves getting snuggles when he wakes at 5am for work.
Have a question for you nurses out there. I have been wanting to get started on nursing for a while now, what is your best advice as I really want to do midwifery.

Kass - It is such a fun age isn't it! I love watching her learn new things and explore and climb!

Lulu- Hang in there hun.. I know it's easy to say and I will be on the other side of the fence in a few months time but it will pass. Poor El -those bl@@dy needles are awful...and my Izzy is really demanding and grizzly and it's almos like she's bored? How can a 13mth old with a house full of toys and 2 parents home right now on holidays, playing with her practically every minute of the day be bored FFS..... Anyway - you are doing a fantastic job and Elena's night sleeps sound spot on hun, I know what you mean about wanting the 4am feed to disappear but that really is great for such a little tyke.

Shell - Hope you are looking after yourself hun - I hear you on the bills piling up - DH has been home for 3 weeks and finally rang Centrelink the other day, got an appointment and that afternoon got a call to start a job on Monday for 5-6 weeks again... thank god for that!

D- Hope it is all going well with your adopted kiddies hun! How good are you!!

Lis - Hope you and El are doing well too hun - how is househunting going??

Well we are doing well - we are 12 hour into Operation Banish the Dummy though so have had a bit of a hairy night but not as bad as I thought.... She woke up at 430 grizzled, we caved and gave her her morning bottle a bit early at 5 and she grizzled for another 30 mins then slept til 830..... Just put her down for her morning nap and it was 20 mins of grizzling and I went in twice to resettle and give her teddy back that she threw out of the cot i anger :rolleyes: She's now asleep without it so a good start I hope. I didn't mind her having it during her day sleep so much but she got used to it at night and her sleep at night has been deteriorating more and more so we had to do it.

I have my GTT test tomorrow and my Dr appointment Friday morning - Prepare for battle!!!!!! Heehee! :) Have to go into school and do some work today - the joys, I hate going in on the holidays, makes me feel like they are already over. :(

Ok I'm off to make pikelets! Mmmmmm have a great day ladies!

D - thanks for clearing that up lol! How nice of you to take in two students. I'm sure it will be an awesome experience for all of you. How long are they staying?

Shell - I hear ya on the bills, why do they always seem to come at once???? Hope you are taking care of yourself.

Lulu - hopefully this phase passes soon. Elena's night feeds/sleeps are great!! Hope you are finding time to take care of yourself too, make sure you are eating your vegies ok!

Tan - best of luck with the GTT test tomorrow, eeeekk I hated that. I'm sure you are well and truly prepared for your doctor's appointment - go tell em exactly how it is!! We only use the dummy for sleeping too and I'm already worried about the day when we try to banish it. We have a list of houses to look at this weekend (if we are all feeling better!) so fingers crossed we find a good one. But in our experience so far, they always look better in the pics than in real life. :( YUM pikelets!

Kass - hope Annabelle is settling down after teething. I adore this age too! Elena is learning new words so quickly now, I swear everyday I hear something new come out of her mouth. So cute.......!

Well I'm at work and a bit quiet today so thought I'd sneak on here for a bit before lunch! I'm still feeling pretty awful but have no sick leave left so here I am. Thank god this is my last working day of the week. I'm planning to veg with my girl tomorrow!

He loves his dummy, and has them stashed all over the house. He likes 2 at a time, one in his mouth and one in his hand. strange boy of mine!!
Lulu - Gosh, I wish I lived closer to come have a coffee and assure you things will get better. Did you end up seeing a LC about the BF??? I honestly think you are doing an amazing job, and your girls will thank you down the track, they will be able to grow up and be best of friends being so close in age. My sis and I are 3 yrs apart, but still get on great. Never doubt yourself, you are one amazing Mum!
Lis - you feeling any better? Hope you are!
Kass - not sure what uni's do just a midwifery course, but I am sure they have started it in As now. Normally, you have to do a bach of nursing which is 3 yrs, then do your midwifery which is 2 yrs. Now I am sure you can do a direct entry midwifery course which makes you a midwife, think it is 3yrs?? You just have to be confident you don't want to do any other type of nursing cause you can only ever work as a midwife iykwim..... not in general nursing areas. Does that make sense???? If you are sure you only want to be a midwife, google direct entry midwife and see how you go. Good Luck!!! If you want to be able to work in all areas of nursing - then you want a Bachelor of Nursing Science..... HTH!!
Sarah - how is the morning sickness now?? Hope you get to enjoy your last few weeks with your fam!

ANyway, my boy's sleeping is going from bad to worse. He is just horrendous. Tosses and turns most of the night, cries, screams, you name it. I am so exhausted. I hate leaving him cry but I think I have to just do it for my own sanity. DH is being kept awake also, and with both of us working we are all walking zombies. This morning he wanted to get p at 5am, I just couldn't do it... Then, during the day he is like a tornado. Into everything. I hardly get a break and I know I am turning into a grumpy Mummy. Think I need a hobby, that doesnt include washing/cooking/cleaning/kids!!!!

Anyway, vent over, I better get brekkie for all these kiddies. Dh wants me to go shopping for him (big mistake sending me shopping haha), he wants some thermals!!! It is getting freezing up here!! So I better get the poor guy some, since he does work hard!!

Hey Everyone!!! Just a quck one today as Annabelle has just woken up from her all night sleep!!!!

Shell- Thanx very much for your help! I was speking to a helath nurse yesterday at sleep school and she said I would make a great health nurse......so something to think about I guess ;)
Now with sleeping, I went to sleep school yesterday!!!! I cant believe it!!!! Annabelle was getting terrible at sleep plus she is teething (when is she not :rolleyes:)
Last nght put her to bed at 8:30pm, as we went to pizza hut for dinner (yuk!) she slept till 1:00am, and I thought see sleep school hasn't worked, then I got her cozy again and of course she sooked. But I was going to be strong and leave her those 3mins to settle herself. But there was no need to as she fell asleep in 1min:30sec! And has just woken! Its 10:00am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend ladies and bubbas. Its Clint and my annerversery weekend so, EXCITING!!!!

Shell - we are dummy free! :cheer: She wasn't that hooked on them, she would actually wake from a nap and hold it out for us to take from her! She only really used them in her cot and that's it but at night she was waking really frequently and we think she was losing it - waking and crying, finding it but not able to go back to sleep for some reason. Her night sleeps have settled heaps and she goes to sleep for her day naps without a grizzle now again too thank goodness. I just give her a taggies blankie or teddy (different ones!) each day to hold while she falls asleep. the GTT was hideous again. i wasn't as sick as I was with Izzy but was feeling pretty faint and lightheaded when i left because I was there for 3 hours - got home at 1 and hadn't eaten a thing all morning. Results for that and my anti-bodies were all good!

Lis - Hope the househunting has gone well this weekend!!!! Hope you are feeling better too and your day at home with El was just what you needed. :hug:

Well I had my Dr appointment - all went pretty well. My c/s is booked for 40 +8-10 days - hopefully more like 10 and I go into labour waaaay before that! Other BAC protocols that we chatted about I am pretty happy with so far and they seem ok about most of it..... Im really happy with my doula too so I know I will be well supported when its showtime!

Bub is transerse right now though - he'd better not get too comfy though I tell ya! I'e worked too hard for this VBAC only to have him change all my plans because he doesn't know where the exit door is! :rofl:

Ok off to make pikelets again - it was scones yesterday - going through some premature baking nesting!

Well no househunting for us this weekend :( Took Elena back to the doctors as she is still sick and turns out her ears are both still infected even after a week on ABs??? So now we have another type of ABs and fingers crossed that does the trick :pray:

Sorry for being MIA once again lovely ladies.
We've been, hang on wait for it..........sick again, surprise suprise and went away for a few days. We went to visit my parents are my brother and SIL bought my gorgeous 1 month old nephew and 13 year old niece to visit. I haven't seen or had any contact my neice since she was about 2 or 3 so that was fantastic although a little weird at the start. The evil witch arrived on Friday and made sure that I knew she was here. I'm alot better this month than last month so getting ready to make an April baby.

You came to visit and had your baby here (in my house!!) you got your VBAC BUT IT WAS TWINS. So you are not allowed to visit me when you are due. I'm not taking any chances, LOL!!! YAY on getting rid of Izzy's dummy. Olivia is so attached to hers. I think I'll tackle that one a little bit later.

Shell - How is Angus's sleeping/settling going? Still going through the process of weaning?

D - :hug: April babies here we come. How are your 'daughters' going? Did you get the last bedroom painted?

Sangie - Just sucks that Elena is still sick with her ear infections. Fingers crossed these new ABs do the trick and you get your little girl back soon.

Lulu - How is our supermum of two princesses going? Elena better after her injections? Hope your girls are giving you some blocks of sleep? Is Iz still being clingly and whinging or is that starting to settle down a bit for you?

Kass - How was your anniversary weekend? Annabelle being a good girl?

I am really exciting. We have booked our first family holiday. We are spending a week in November on the beach in Forster. I can't wait to take Livvy to the beach and watch her play in the waves. Plus a week away with no work or phones and with nothing to do but play and lay in the sand sounds like heaven. Just have to hang in there until November.
I better go as we are off to Bunnings to buy some towel rails and taps. Little bit by little bit will get us there. My furniture arrives on Wednesday so another YAY!!!

We had a lovely night - just dinner and a movie but it was nice to just be "us" although most of the conversation centred around what on earth to call this little man!! We saw Han**** - I was pleasantly surprised! It was pretty funny!

Hey guys. Sorry, sad selfish post from me today. My Grandad passed away this morning. He has been in hospital with pneumonia, and wasn't doing so well. He cracked last night and told the nurses to take everything out/off (oxygen, IV etc). So, all treatment was ceased and we sat with him this morning while he passed. Was so so sad, my poor Mum is devastated as she lost her Mum only 18mths ago. So anyway, will be helping her plan the funeral this wk, prob for Fri. Just thought I would explain my possible absence. xxx

Thanks so much guys. Funeral planning tomorrow and Wed. There are huge family dramas that will prob come to a head on Fri so that should be fun. What is it about weddings and funerals. Is my Mum's brothers who never have anything to do with anyone, but suddenly appear cause they think they are in for some inheritance money - di*kheads. Anyway, my boy is unhappy tonight. Got his 12mth immunisations (slack I know but he has been constantly sick). Have given him some panadol and he is asleep, so I hope he isn't too sooky tonight. Dh is at work so I am single, sad, and have no chocolate - how did I let that happen....!!

Family members that we haven't spoken to in a long time, if ever, seem to come out of the wood work expecting money etc The best thing is they rarely get anything!
It makes me sick that people can really be like that. Oh well at least your grand dad knew you loved him and didn't see any of that sh*t happen. :hug:
