Why do these gorgeous little creatures insist on fighting sleep when they are exhausted? No wonder she will sleep so long when she does finally succumb to it!
Went for an hour power walk to coles- i need to get rid of this jelly belly and she slept for about 30 minutes and thats it since 1 o'clock ... really not sure what else to try.
Hope you all had a great day and come on Melbournites the more the merrier!
Hi everyone!
Going to do a selfish one tonight as Izzy has fallen asleep and it is before 1am YAY!!! and I am going to try to go to sleep early (well earlier than normal)
Well she did fall asleep for me and she slept through till 4!! Shame I didn't get that much sleep I waited till 2 thinking she would wake for a feed but she didn't.
We also went for a power walk to the shops to grab some essentials that we needed (can get away with not doing a proper shop this week) and all the way home she screamed - typical normally she sleeps when she is in the pram.
Hope everyone is well - Goodnight sleep tight xx
Hey everyone!
Sounds like the Melbourne get together is going to be great!! Wish I was closer, but have to say the weather has improved and am enjoying the warm weather during the day again, I def hate the cold so would not survive in Melb!!
Hopefully Angus will sort his sleep issues out soon, both the girls were sleeping through the night at 6 weeks, but Angus still wakes every 3 hours for a feed. He takes a bit to settle, but not 4 hours like Noah, poor you Sarah!!! I try and cheat and feed Angus in bed with me at night, but he is quite windy so I have to get up to burp him otherwise he gets bad tummy pain or just spews. I am off to work today to visit everyone and show off my boy, hope he behaves!! Am taking the girls to my brothers so they should have fun playing with their cousins. Luckily I am not going tilll 12 cause I can't possibly ever be organised before 10 at least these days!! Just sorting clothes and baths seems to take ages for 3 kids (and I tell my DH that I want another one!!) Anyway sorry about the selfish post, am still trying to remember everyones names and bubs and previous posts without reading them all again!! Love to see all the Isabellas though, cause that is the name I wanted if we had a girl!! I also wanted Noah for a boy but my DH wanted Angus and I named both girls, so was his turn!
Hope everyone has a great day!
See-ya
Michelle :D
Michelle - good luck back at your work! I went back to mine last week (Im a teacher) and i got mobbed!! The staff were so excited and it was so fun to show off my princess!
Hope Angus settles into some sort of sleeping pattern for you soon. Its tough working out these little monkeys isnt it! and you have 3 - wtg!! You might have said already but how old are your girls?? I hear you n the getting ready - takes so long to pack the nappy bag - get Izzy dressed, me showered and zuuzjed up!! Wish you wer in Melbourne too!
Mel - hope you got a few hours sleep hun, sometimes you just have to sleep for a few minutes hoping it will drag to something decent! ikwym about the pram - Izzy always cries just as Im paying or doing something where i cant get her right then!
Hello everyone else - hope you are well! Other than a few of us its a bit quiet in here!!
Well- we are having a few issues with our pram :(so annoying. We even called baby bunting to see if we ould exchange it as we are so p***** off. They said we could get the amount we paid less 10-15% which is fair enough as we have used it a few times, but I dont want another pram! I dont want to pay a huge amount more, even though Ilike the Steelcraft strider(we have the transaction 4 wheeler) but you cant lie the baby flat unless you use the bassinet which i dont like.(Does anyone have a pram that does this - like the bugaboo or quinny?) One of the wheels on ours keeps lifting off the ground when its uneven (like a foot path) and gets all wobbly when it goes back on the ground and the handle is sort of wobbly.
Other than that I love the look of it and it is easy to manover even in coles etc.and for the price we paid I dont like any others so not sure what to do.
I might just have to go back to baby bunting and see what else is there- what would you guys do? Any recommendations around the 500 mark??
Anyhoo - better try and get this moppet to sleep, have a great day ladies - catch you all soon!
aaarrrrghhhhhhhhhhh. Just lost my long post!!! Bugger bugger bugger
Anyway, basic update is that Izzy finally seems to be turning a bit of a corner. She has slept through from 8pm to 5am for the last two nights. I'm not convinced it will last, but I'll take this very nice routine while I can. She has been horrendous for the last fortnight and I was really starting to struggle holding it together so the improvement has been just what I needed. I still really struggle with day sleeps, although today she has had a couple of hours this morning and has been asleep now for 30 minutes. The magic colic mixture I got really does seem to be helping.
Tan - I have the Mountain Buggy Elite, but the MB Urban (which is basically the same) is about the $500 mark. The recline position is fully adjustable, so you can have Izzy lying basically completely flat or whatever upright you want. Really easy to push, collapse etc and is relatively light. What is it about these little munchkins changing things on you - one minute they love being out for a walk in their pram, the next minute they scream the second they see it!! They sure do keep their mummies guessing.
I hope you Melbourne girls have a great catch up - I wish I could come and play but its a tad far to come for a coffee!!
Hope I haven't jinxed things and Izzy remains settled so I can come back later.
I won't do all my personals again - sorry, but just don't have the time to do it again now.
tan: you dont need one that lays completely flat. Its actually better if the baby lies a bit upright iykwim?
I have the bertini moonlight 4 wheeler with reversible handle and i love it! it has the sleeping bag which i love and keeps mason so toasty! It is around $400.
hey lulu: hope the sleeping keeps up! Mason slept 11 hours last night, fed, then another three hours!
Thanks Danni - I think I still would like the option though? sOME of them are permanantly in that funny possie...
Do you like my Av??!! Ha ha - cute hey!
Well another good night here - Izzy slept from 630-3 and then till 745, so we are in somewhat of a pattern, which still includes witching hour from 4 pm onwards.
Anyway - I did pilates last night! My first proper exercise since the caeser - Um did I also give birth to my stomach muscles?! I took it really easy but cant believe how much the pregnancy and caeser have changed what I can do physically!! Looking forward to getting MUCH fitter and toning up this tum!
Well ladies - Im sure I will be back later on - have a great day all!
love your av!!! :D
my tummy is hurting again too :(
Good morning ladies,
I just had to get on here asap this morning and tell you all about how good sleep school went yesterday. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. I spent the day at the sleep school and they taught me so much. I thought that I was doing really well catching her tired signs but I was still leaving her awake way to long. I was missing her very early tired signs and the ones that I was noticing were her very obvious ones and so she was already overtired and that was why I was having a nightmare of a time settling her. I was also being way to fussy putting her to bed and messing around with her and I wasn't giving her the chance or opportunity to settle herself. Since they showed me the very early signs and how to put her to bed my little princess has been an angel and I am already noticing the difference in her moods.
I'm not at all deluded and realise that it is only been 24hours but I am so much more confident and realised that I'm not a bad mum if I let her cry. I must admit that yesterday she didn't like having to settle herself and she was bellowing and I burst into tears and they sent me to bed and they let her settle herself (took her 25mins).
Overnight she had her bath and feed starting at 6.30pm was in bed by 7.45pm and slept until 1.30am. Quick feed back in bed by 2.30am and slept until 7.30am. Each time she settled herself with only short length of crying. I'm just about bursting with pride. My little girl CAN settle herself. It was mummy who thought she couldn't. It is her crying that gets me so they gave me the tip to entertain myself for 5 mins by making a cup of tea or putting on a load of washing or locking myself in a room where I can't hear her so I am distracted and not standing at her door getting all upset. It is helping me as I'm not standing there watching her cry and throw her arms around so I don't feel like I have to race in there and pick her up.
One good day down let's see if we can have two in a row. One day at a time.
Tan - I love your avator. It's so cute. That is awesome sleep overnight that your little girl is doing. Keep up the good work Izzy. Isn't that witching hour horrible. It is so hard when they are so fussy. They really like to make us crazy don't they? I have the Beema Q Elite. It is a great pram and can be either laying completely flat or sitting upright and anywhere in between. It does take up quite a bit of boot space but I love it so I don't care. I'm not sure who much they sell for because I got mine as a deal and only paid the price of the older model (approx $400).
Danni - What have you been doing to make your tummy hurt? Make sure you look after yourself. You guys had major abdominal surgery and your bodies need time to recover. Be kind to yourselves. How long is Mason sleeping for you now?
Has anyone else's tummy muscles split? Mine have split and I can fit two fingers in between them. It's gross. I need to make an appointment with a physio. Better do that today before they get worse I suppose.
Sorry for such a self absorbed post. I'll be back later and catch up. I'm off to check out the new chat rooms. As if this forum wasn't addictive enough they give us live chat .
Luv Dan.
so glad to see you so happy dan! i really hope it works for your and Olivia. I hate the crying too...it breaks my heart!
Mason slept for 8 hours last night, feed for 10 mins, then down for another 3 hours. The night before he did 11 hours, 10 min feed, then down for 4 hours.
last night he didnt go to bed until much later, so from now on we will try earlier.
:hello: to everyone else!
hey guys,,, i managed to get time to put some of our professional pics on masons site :)
Hi guys
Just wanted to pop in and let you know I now have the flu, when will my bad luck run out?!
Hope all is well with mums and bubs.
Dan - I got all teary reading your post. You can actually hear and feel your relief and confidence. I was there too, with the help of mum and lots of time Im slowly working out those cues too although Im sure I get them sooo wrong at times! I still need to work on resettling her after she only sleeps for an hour. Big hugs to you hun - hope you have another good day and remember that even if you dont- it just means you can try again tomorrow. My av is cute hey - doesnt look a thing like me!
Danni - WTG on the photos - loooking good hunny!!;)
Ash - You really are having a rough time of it - Im sure everyone else will join in - because I think you need this:grouphug: Take care of yourself hun, Im sure things will start to settle down and improve for you soon.
Um gotta go feed a grizzly child - but before I do OMG! I want to know one thing.... How on earth does this small beautiful, gorgeous girl manage to s*** so much in one nappy?? I just changed one thinking I had wrapped it up tight and I dripped poo all over my hand, the floor and nappy bin. Grooooosssssss!
Hey girls,
Yay for all those bubs who are settling and sleeping well. Ash hope you make a fast recovery!
Sorry this is going to be a selfish post, we are having a hard time at the moment and I'm not sure what to do. Little miss is just so unsettled and cries constantly and then I end up in tears as well. I can hear her tummy rumbling so I think she has some digestive issues. My MCHN keeps saying she has colic but I think its more than that. I was also told to try her on formula as maybe my milk is upsetting her. So as much as I want to continue bf we are going to go on a trial of formula only for a few days and see how she goes. And I'll keep expressing to keep my milk supply just in case this doesn't work.
Keep your fingers crossed for me please as I don't know how much more of this we can take, breaks my heart to see her so distressed.
Ok dumb question for those who bottle feed, do you make the formula up straight into the bottles and can you make them up in advance and store in fridge? Sorry, no clue here! My friend recommended Nan, what does everyone else use? Ta!!
Lis - hugs to you too hun, you poor thing. Correct me if Im wrong formula mums but I read somehwere that you can make up a jug ( a days worth) or formula and store it in the fridge. That way you can pour it out into the bottle as you need it? I might be wrong sorry, but Im sure I read it in Baby love or in Kidwrangling. Will check now for you and let you know. I used NAN when i was topping her up in the first few days home as the hossy recommended it. BBS
Yep just checked Kidwrangling - they say you can make up a whole batch in a jug say, and then divide it up into your sterilised bottle and store in the fridge. Baby Love does too - obviously you need to make sure the proportions are right and they say you can store in either a jug or individual bottles.
HtH
Yep lis, I make mine up all at once, I have small 125mL bottles and large 260mL bottles. With the big bottles I make up 250mL and these are top up bottles (I have 6) and I have about 10 of the small bottles which I make up to 100mL (1 scoop per 50mL of water). You need quite a few bottles if you're planning on FF full time, just so when some are dirty you have some ready etc. We are using a thickened formula so not sure about Nan but have heard this is closest to breastmilk consitency, followed by Bellamy's Organic (Blake was on this and loved the taste, but he was having issues with staying full and chucking a bit hence the move to AR formula).
