I have just been giving the Infants Friend to him via dropper.. You can add it to the bottle but I'm afraid he won't drink it because he hates the tastes of it. The face he pull makes me giggle a little bit.
As for the new year.. I am not going anywhere. Have been very busy over the last couple weeks so am aiming to stay at home for a while so i can get Kaden into more of a routine. I put him down about half hour ago and he was still unsettled but i decided to leave him in the bassinet and he eventually settled himself.. Have been tempted to give him the dummy to soothe him but dont really want to go down that path. Maybe I should stop mothering him so much. Can't help it tho.. He loves being snuggled and its too cute.
Also the amount of times I started reading your birth story and have gotten interupted.. Hopefully I will get through it this time
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have been so tempted to give Em the dummy also! but nope im determined not too! we can support each other on that one hahahahah

Have u tried putting Kaden to sleep on his belly? have been doing that with Emily for her day naps (that way i can keep checking on her) and she loves it and sleeps for ages! i end up having to wake her!
No I haven't tried putting him on his belly yet. Will give it a go. He seems to like it when I lay him belly down across my lap to burp him.
He has been sleeping very well today so I have been able to catch up on sleep also yay!! Poor DP.. I have been so moody towards him.. Told him I would have a drink with him tonight, have extra supply of milk handy in the fridge
Hi girls! Even though our fashionably late little lady has me belonging in a Dec group, I can't keep up with them!
Nellie is a tummy or side sleeper for sure, she loves it. Even when we do put her down on her back, she eventually flips to her side, if not straight away. She also loves to lie along my arm on her tummy while I sit on the fit ball to bounce her off to sleep.
She's feeding really well, but we do have occasional issues with the right hand side - I think she just doesn't like lying on her left. So we are trying some different feeding positions to see if that helps.
We had a shocker of a time getting her to sleep tonight. She had her bath, then was having a feed, but lasted three minutes before coming off screaming. We did a few house laps, and she eventually settled, lying on my arm, but not for long as she was hungry again, and then just fed and fed and fed. The comfort sucked for aaaaaaaaages, and finally doped off in bed. She's a born sucker, but I am also fighting the dummy!
Problem is, when she doped off in bed, she wasn't in her night nappy! So have to brave changing her at some point. I've had two great nights in a row, so should probably just harden up!
Wow.. sounds like a few of us are having problems with wind... we are aswell. I've been trying Infacol with Campbell and just give it to him before each breastfeed. I'm also having issues with fast flowing milk and poor Cambpell has trouble keeping up with it. He's generally pretty good (better than DS1 was).. but when he does pull off early in a feed we have milk squirting everywhere.. not a good look - LOL!! I'm hoping it will settle down (although it didn't with DS1 so won't hold my breathe)!! So I don't have trouble expressing either.. but am trying not to as I don't want to increase my supply anymore.. although I have got a nice little supply in the freezer already!!
We were trying to hold off the dummy too but had to give in a few weeks ago.. the wind and tummy pains got too much to handle and I just couldn't keep feeding him (he's MASSIVE already)... so he's got the dummy now and I have to say it's been a life saver.. he's much happier with it (and so are we)!!!
I had my post bub check up with the OB today and can't stop laughing at her comments about Campbell.. she couldn't believe how big he is already!! Her exact words "Oh my god".. followed by "I didn't deliver that baby"!!! LOL. All good though and I'm recovering from the c-section fairly well. Still have a bit of pain every now and again but you get that!! She also told me just how scary it was after they did the spinal block.. she said that another couple of seconds and my heart would have stopped and they would of had to commence CPR.. very scary indeed. Lucky we had a very experienced anethaesist (sp?). Still finding it hard coming to terms with all that and thankful that I'm here to enjoy my gorgeous boys!! So definitely no more kids for us!! Which is good.. we only ever wanted the two and I'm really happy with two boys!! They're the best!!
Anyway must go.. the little man has just woken.. after only a 40 minute sleep.. not enough little one but you get that! We're still waking a fair bit at night too... so I'm very tired.
Have been reading but not had time to post. We have been up at our holiday house since the 20th and have had my sister and mum and two nieces here. My sister is... difficult, so it was a relief to see her off yesterday! (That's a bit awful, isn't it? Honest though!) My nieces are 10 and 12 and quite a handful, the house is only small and the past week or so has been bedlam! Seems so quiet and peaceful today...
Miss P is doing well. BF is going better than expected, we are comp feeding but I reckon Miss P probably gets around 70% breast milk. I am so proud of myself as I was determined to establish a BF relationship and we have achieved that (I have had two breast reductions for anyone who is wondering the big deal!). The Motilium us making a huge difference to my supply and I woke up this morning to a dripping boob.... aaahhh, the things that excite a new mother! Miss P has a definite preference for the breast but will take a bottle if she is hungry. The face she makes when the bottle goes in is clearly telling me that she is not impressed and the feed is all business as opposed to the breast which she seems to very much enjoy. In the evening she will only accept the breast and screeches at the bottle... or at anyone else who tries to hold her. I secretly enjoy the fact that she just wants mumma and mumma's boobs!! We don't really have a feeding routine, she just eats when she's hungry. I usually offer her a FF after the 7am feed and at around 7pm. If she doesn't seem satisfied after a BF during the day I'll offer her a bottle and she might refuse or she might take 20-40mls. Whatever... as long as everyone is satisfied and happy!
We are co-sleeping and have been since day 1 - unplanned but working for everyone. We also co-slept with DD1 so we were quite open to doing the same again. I think this is also helping my supply as I sleep topless and DD2 feeds overnight as she pleases, usually somewhere around 3am and again at about 7am. She is very much a snugglebug and I love having her cuddled up against me overnight. Miss P doesn't sleep much during the day, just catnaps, but she is quite settled and happy. She is very alert and aware of everything happening around her. She does have a preference for being held and doesn't like it when she has no one to play with and will have a grizzle until someone talks to her. Having said that she is currently fast asleep in the pram bassinet and has been for the last hour! Perhaps now that the house is more settled and quieter she will sleep more during the day?
Miss P's neck is very strong and she has rolled from back to front once... more by accident than design I think! She is trying to roll though and will scoot a good metre or so during tummy time. She seems a lot less 'newborn' than my other two?? I think my others pretty much ate and slept at this age! Our paed and health nurse both recommended we use a dummy (the paed initially said NO DUMMY but changed his mind after 10 minutes with her!) As Audax said, Miss P is also a born sucker. Fantastic for the combined BF and FF, but she constantly wanted to be on the breast. Her tummy was so full she wanted to suck to empty it, so I would put her on the breast... she would get more full, tummy would hurt, she'd want to suck, I'd put her on the breast... around and around we'd go! Anyway, we only use the dummy when she has had a big feed and is overflowing but upset because she needs to suck to empty her tummy. She is not actually very keen on the dummy (prefers the breast!) but it is working for us.
My two big kidlets are in deep love with their new sister and are exceptionally helpful. DD7 even wants to change nappies! DS5 collects them when they are taken off, ties them up in a bag and takes them out to the bin. They are great when I am feeding and understand that I need to sit with Miss P for a while. So far we haven't had any jealousy issues, just luurrve!
Well, we are putting a roast pork on the Weber for lunner (like brunch... only lunch/dinner!) today, better go and see if DH has organised the heat beads and bits. Miss P is still fast asleep, so maybe it was all the action and noise that kept her awake during the day!

Been to flat out to be on here much - nice to hear how you've all been going (Audax - great to hear from you too - would have felt like something was missing if you didn't post in here!).
DS is lovely, but I must admit that today I'm at the end of my tether. Luckily DH is home to help me with the two kids. DS is a livewire during the day, and I have been coping with that ok, but have just had enough of hanging around to satisfy his needs and that then being followed up by a whinge from DD that I need to do something with her. She has had a lot of TV laid on lately, not good.
But the good news is that DS is an absolute angel at night! Totally opposite to DD who was a monster. He wakes up two or three times, feeds and goes straight back to bed. I had been too scared of jinxing myself to say much, but now that he is a month old and still managing that, I reckon he knows night from day, which is lovely.
Am going to a friends house tonight for NYE but not sure how long we'll last, depends on the kids and my ability to last!

Hmmm.... my baby has been fast asleep for the past 3 hours!!! I have cleaned the house, put a curry on the stove for dinner, read a magazine, DH has taken the big kids to the beach... now I'm bored!! Boobs are starting to hurt, but I don't want to wake her up.
Hope you all had a great New Year's eve? We stayed home, sent the kids to bed at about 9pm and watched Braveheart. We don't know many people who live where our holiday house is, but to be honest I don't think I would have been up for a big night anyway. DH and I did make it to midnight, but now I'm very tired! Unfortunately, a powernap just makes me more tired and very groggy.
Think I might sit on the couch and start a new book, haven't done that since Miss P was born!

Kelly - Just the other day my MIL told me her experiences with her 2 sons births which were both done via c/s. I couldn't believe it!! The frightening experiences that some people have!! Thank god the end result was a positive one!!
Well had a really bad night last night. I have a feeling it might of been the coffee that I had earlier in the day. I haven't drank any since he's been born but I just really needed a pick me up. Then I had another one. Don't think I will be drinking anymore anytime soon. Poor little thing was screaming for a good hour and a half before I could get him settled. Even then he wouldn't go down until he was fully asleep in my arms.
Went to my BIL's place for new years. First time away for the night and he slept like an angel!! Only waking twice. Pity he can't do this at home.

Miss Em rolled over from back to belly twice today! very proud of her! 1st time i missed it but Miss B came running to me telling me that Emily rolled over and low and behold there she was on her belly!
Ummmm few questions - is any other babies becomming clingy to you? im not sure if its cause im breast feeding or if its a stage but Emily will only settle with me/mummy! no one else! is this normal?
also is anyone still wrapping their bubs? we are still wrapping but wondering if i should look at stopping it? (can't remember when we stopped with B tho i know it was early as she would always get out of the wrap)
anyways for once i have both down at the same time - so im going to try and enjoy a hot cuppa
Wow hj! No rolling happening here (Although I am glad of it - when DD started rolling she would get stuck on tummy and cry - not fun at night!)
Still wrapping here, although not always for every sleep. I wrapped for months and months with DD though.
Good news is that I'm working out DS's sleep / feed patterns now and am feeling much more in tune with him. He's such a gorgeous boy and has only woken once for a feed the last three nights - amazing!
Star - i was hoping the rolling would hold off for longer for those exact reasons but nope!!!!!!!!!
Im not wrapping during the day only during the night! maybe i should during the day than she might sleep in her cot! she only will sleep in her cot during the night!
and good work on figuring out DS's sleep/feed patterns! i havent worked that one out yet! i did with DD1 pretty quickly but not with Miss Em! wondering if its cause she is breastfeeding and seems to always be feeding if that is why im finding it harder? is that possible?
and thats awesome those 3 nights with only one wake up......... but hate to put the jinx on u but Miss Em did that to me also and night 4.... another story! hehehehe
hey girls! Hope you're all going well. We have just had an awesome day, apart from all the rain, which is making it very hard to get our nappies dry.
star - we have an awesome night sleeper too! Daytimes are just a warzone, although today the young lady had a two hour and a three hour sleep in her cot, and by the end of it I was going a bit batty trying to find things to do.
hj - I am slowly finding some sort of predictability to DD's needs, with breastfeeding. She missed the feed-play-sleep memo, so it's a bit more like feed-play-feed-play-feed-sleep, but then once a day it's sleep-feed-rock-sleep.
nickle - I am loving the co-sleeping too! It's so easy.
Oh Nickle... I feel your pain... we had a SHOCKING day yesterday. Campbell would not settle and cried whenever I put him down. Then he did a massive projectile vomit all over me. Thought that might of been the problem.. but no.. still wouldn't settle after that.. until the avo, then he finally went to sleep... right before I had him booked in for his immunisation (wanted to get it done before flying over to Perth on Thursday)!! He was not impressed with the needles either.. poor little poppet. Thankfully he went down last night perfectly and woke twice for feeds. I can handle that. But I can't handle the other projectile vomit I was given in the middle of the night... not nice and the poor couch is a bit worse for ware! Hopefully today is much better. I have heaps of cleaning and sorting out to do before we head to perth. It's times like these that I wish I had some family around to take the kids for a couple of hours so I can get everything done.. or at least even take DS1.. oh well.
Oh, kel, I'm sorry that you're having a hard time getting all sorted! Hope little guy settles down for you!
eza - if you're even out there, how are you doing? Floating away? Thinking of you.
Took the little snuggler out visiting this morning, against DH's suggestion, just had to get out! Went to a friend's place for a cup of tea, we're both on high ground. We had the baby in her kids' old bassinet, and her kids loved it, they put on this big toy show for her and she thought it was the best thing ever! Came home and she was knackered, so we got her down (Daddy home from work on flood leave, so he put her down successfully for the first time!) and I don't think we'll see her again til after 5, fingers crossed!
nickle - we did have a devil by day, angel by night, but I've sorted her out now. We wrap her up nice and firm, and then tuck her into her cot really tightly. We still have to feed her, then rock her, then wrap, then top-up feed, then rock, and about 10 minutes later she goes down, but it works. And once she's down, she's doooooowwwwn. Hope things improve for your little lovebug.
Miss Em had her 6wks (7wks) check today!
and she is not 5.74kgs 61cm long and head 39cm!
Breastfeeding is doing its stuff! she is a happy healthy thriving baby!!!!
