Jo - LOL i don't even want to imagine! DH is lucky he scored that night, otherwise he would be in the same boat as yours! hahahahaha
i was told at my MCHC appt that still stick with the foods such as farex first, but they start them earlier now at 17wks! i still say go with what ever you think is best for you bub! we started DD1 at 4.5mths but she was sitting up, grabing for our food, watching us eat and was more than ready! i think Miss Em will be a bit later but not much later!
I so bet your parents are looking forward to meeting Master Campbell!
and how awesome! first family holiday! i can't wait to do that!

    Hey Ladies!

I'm back! We've just come back from a lovely family holiday! Stayed in a holiday house near the beach with its own pool. Was really lovely. The kids were absolutely fantastic. DS slept in his portacot totally fine, was surprised there were no issues, but then he is a very cruisy boy. DD had a ball in the pool and on the waterslides we visited. Our car was packed to the brim, Jo! We didn't even manage to fit the big pram in. With having to take linen and towels for the house, portacot, food, etc something had to give! So we had the stroller for DD and sling for DS. Great extra long weekend, though.

As for solids, not planning to start until 6 months, even then DD was a little hesitant. Will see how we go, but no earlier than that. Not sure what I think about the rice vs finger food thing. Will play that by ear depending on the advice I get at the time and what I think will work. It's ridiculous that things have changed so much in between kids. To me, that just shows that they don't really know what's best!

oooooo HJ!!! Could it be???? lmao!

I have alot of people trying to pressure me into starting solids already.. It just doesn't feel right at the moment. I think it's because he is bigger, he looks alot older. 3 months is too early isn't it??? I at least want to wait until 4-5 months. He seems quite happy to just be on BM. Although I feel that my supply has dropped a little over the past few days.. Trying a few different things. Baked some Lactation cookies tonight so will see how they go...

jo - how exciting for your parents!! Hope you enjoy your wknd away

Glad that you enjoyed your holiday star - I didn't realise how much EXTRA you have to pack when going away.. even for the night!! lol

Things are going fairly well with us here.. apart from the heat!! It's exhausting!! Poor KP feels the heat alot too (so do I) Spends most of the time nakey in front of the fan with a cool washer.. Bring on winter I say!!
Went to Rihanna on the wknd and it was AWESOME!! She is great live and I had so much fun with the girls! A very much needed break. Certainly missed bub's tho and couldn't wait to get home. He was very well behaved apparently (although MIL would probably say that anyway lol)

Have been going to Mother's Group each Thursday, except the last one. It's okay.. I haven't really taken to the other mother's very much.. Hopefully it will get better.. Will be finding a new group if thing's don't pick up. The walks are very nice tho.

    xo

Hello ladies, can I join your little thread? My DS was born on 25 November 2010 and because I was originally due in early December I stuck with them, but they write too much (if that makes sense) so after just a few days away there are pages to read and I just don't have the time to catch up with it all.

HJ - I often just let DS sleep in my arms for the late afternoon nap. It's normally only about 15-20mins for him so it gives me a chance to sit down and watch a little bit of rubbish tv without feeling guilty. Would that work for you?

Picketty - of course you can join! Welcome aboard!
Miss Em's late arvo sleep is only about 20-30mins! and would loooove to let her just sleep in my arms, but i use that as one on one time with DD1 (well when i can). Plus im guilty of being one of those ppl that never sit still, im right the kids are down for a nap, now for that washing, or start dinner, or try and cram in some study! Im guilty for not sitting down and chilling like i know i should! so to be honest thats prob another reasone why i would just love for Em to sleep in her cot for that nap!

Afternoon sleep?? What's that?? Seriously, Miss P still doesn't sleep much during the day, just catnaps. Refuse to let her CIO so we just cruise along and she naps if she's tired.

I had AF twice after Miss P, 28 days apart and then nothing. Did a HPT last weekend just to be sure but was BFN - thank god. Hasn't been a whole lot of action in that department anyway. I'm so tired and I have Miss P on me most of the day, by evening I just want to sleep. DH seems to be coping ok, although I have thought I should start making more effort in the Intimacy Department.

We won't be starting solids any time soon. Miss P is simply nowhere near ready and shows no interest. I started my other two around 5.5 months and will do the same with Miss P if she is ready. I also intend to start with mush and work my way up to 'solid' solids! Old habits die hard... we all have to do what we are comfortable with and what we feel is best for our bub.

Is anyone rolling yet? Miss P is not really trying, although I think my other two were rolling at this age. I never put her down so I guess she doesn't have much opportunity!

    Hope you are all well.

Nickle - im with you on starting with mush and working way up to solid solids! thats what we did with DD1 and worked fine!
Miss Em has been rolling for a little while now, but in the last week or so has got it down pat! now every time we put her on her back she automatically rolls onto belly! which is great but she can't yet go from belly to back - has done it the odd time but it hasn't clicked with her yet, so now when we put her down in her cot we have had to start using the "safe n sound" thing again that stops them from rolling otherwise she rolls onto belly than gets sooky when she can't roll over, so than she won't sleep! LOL

Star - Glad you had a good holiday. I am just trying to decide what to take on the weekend for 2 nights at a farm. I don't think it is all going to fit!

Eza - It took me a bit to click with my MG but it is great now. Just give it a little time and if it still isn't working for you look up playgroups australia and see if there is one in your area that you can go to.

HJ - Ha Ha, you had me for a second! AF returned for me in January. I stopped BFing in December, got AF in Jan and went onto the regular pill, and then in Feb it came as it should have Ah well, at least I can plan around it!

Campbell is still having 3 sleeps during the day. Usually 1 solid sleep and 2 lots of 2 catnaps which I classify as only 1 sleep! He will feed catnap, awake time, catnap and then feed twice and then will have 1 2-3hr sleep. The big sleep varies. Yesterday it was lunchtime today it is right now and Saturday it was morning!

Picketty - Welcome! I was with these girls for Belly Buddies but had my bub early actually fit into Oct babies but I am popping into both. Chances are Campbell will do his milestones in line with these bubs!

Nickle - You must be exhausted! I find it hard to get stuff done and Campbell does sleep during the day with Miss P still not sleeping and 2 other kids to juggle it must be mayhem!

As for rolling. If I put Campbell on his tummy he rolls onto his back but he doesn't yet go from back to front.

I am loving the weather we have had the last 3 days but it seems it wont be here for much longer I walked over to pick Caitlin up from 3yo kinder today and it was great. I am spewing that I haven't been able to do as much walking this time round as I got to do with Caitlin.

Not much else going on here, hope you all have a great week

marknjo - wow how funny is that.... Campbell can roll from tummy to back, but not back to tummy, and Emily can roll from back to tummy but not tummy to back hahahahaha

    Hiya girlies!

Rolling here - back to tummy. She's only done it a handful of times and it's funny because she gets all cranky because she doesn't really like being on her tummy.
Night sleeps became a bit disastrous during the mega heat, little poppet just wanted to sleep all day and feed all night. But I think we should be able to snap her out of it. We're having a couple of pyjama days at home this week, we've been flat out with playdates and mothers groups and appointments and visiting daddy at work, and although it almost always fit in with her routine, I think we just need some home time, and then my mum comes on Thursday to get a grandbaby fix.
Afternoon sleeps - if she's not down by 4:30, it's not gonna happen, and it is alost always a short one.

We went on our first camping trip on the weekend, it was great! Even with the cane toad that hopped out of our tent as we came home from the pub! Ewww! It was raining, and I worried about the noise, but bubbaloo slept beautifully! It was a bit of a challenge to pack our little car too, but we managed! No pram, just sling. We had a great time.

    Hey ladies,

Sorry, it has been a while!

Rolling - nada here! I'm wondering if DS is too big to launch himself, LOL! He was quite proud of himself at 2am the other morning tucking his knees up ready to roll onto his side, but couldn't get the momentum!

Oops - DD needs attention - BBL!

No rolling from here either. I rolled him onto his front the other day and because his arm was underneath him he rolled back onto his back, but I think that was more a loss of balance rather than consciously rolling.

No AF for me either, thankfully. Supersticially (spelling?) I keep putting off buying any pads, but I know I'll just get caught out one day.

Audax you are doing well going camping already. We are lucky if we go out for a long morning, let alone an overnight trip. We just can't seem to get DS's daytime sleeps sorted. He is generally only awake for 90mins, and will then sleep for 30mins and so on, and of course the times vary depending on what time he wakes up - sometimes 6.15am, sometimes much later. It sounds OK but I know after the lunchtimeish sleep that he is still tired and grumpy, but I cannot get him to sleep longer and I don't want to let him CIO, so the afternoon deteriorates into a series of mini-naps and increasing grumpyness and the bath/feed/bed at 5.30-6.00 is him crying through his feed until he falls asleep, sometimes up to an hour after he started feeding. I was feeding him every time he woke up (approx every 2hrs), but I found he was just snacking and I ended up using the boobs as a comforting thing for him, so he was on them all the time. I can't seem to time the feeds and sleeps correctly. I would like to know that he is fed whenever he wakes, and then say 9am, 12, 3pm, and 6pm (to save me constantly looking at my watch to see when he was last fed and to try and establish some regular pattern to our day), but then he won't sleep cos he is hungry so I feed him and he falls asleep after a few minutes so I know he hasn't really fed properly etc. Plus his 30min sleeps don't really allow me time to get much done around the house. Sometimes I still feel like I have a (large) newborn, our life still feels very chaotic. Ladies - do you have a set pattern to your day at all?

Solids - we are going to Bali in May for a wedding so I really want to hold off on the solids until we return, it will just be so much easier if DS is on the breast while we are away, and also provide some comfort for him in a strange place with people he is not used to. I've bought a book about baby led weaning so I'm going to read that and then see how I feel about puree vs proper solids for our return.

We took DS in the pool yesterday - he didn't hate it but he didn't seem to enjoy it that much either, whereas he loves the bath, so I think we just need to persevere with it while the weather and water temperature are still warm.

Have a good rest of the weekend ladies x

    Hi All,

We ended up going away for the long weekend to a farm about 3 1/2 hrs drive from Melb. Caitlin had a great time and Campbell slept a lot and fed terribly. I had just enough bottles to last us while we were there so I didn't have to sterilise but he wouldn't drink. In the 3 days we were away he probably only had 1 day worth of milk. Now that we are home though he is back to having his full feeds. I suppose it was the different surroundings that he was not comfortable with. Makes me worry when we go up to Qld in Apr/May. He will have just started solids but will still need to be having bottles so hopefully being that little bit older he will do as he is told and drink well! Unfortunately when we go away I will have to do some sterilizing because I am not buying 11 days worth of bottles to take up there pre-sterilized!

Picketty - Our routine is pretty set now but it is much easier when you are bottle feeding than demand feeding. Up at 8am for bottle. Sleep by 9.30/10. Bottle 11.45. Sleep 1.15/1.45. Bottle 3.30. Catnap 5/5.30. Bottle 7.15. Bed 8/8.30. Dreamfeed 11/11.30. The 1st 2 sleeps of the day vary, 1 will be a long 2hr sleep and the other will be a catnap / awake / catnap. If he sleeps past 8 I just adjust the day by feeding him 3.45hrly so that his dreamfeed is as close to 11pm as possible so I can get to bed although DH does this feed regularly so I can get some extra sleep!

Finally got physio clearance to go to my first hockey training last night. I wasn't allowed to do much but it was great to get back out on the pitch. I am sore today though and very unfit! I have a lot of work to do to get fit for the season. I think I will probably peak halfway through season! Oh well better than nothing I suppose!

    Hope everyone else is well

    Hey ladies,

Not much action in here lately! Hope everyone is well and their bubs too!

Had a funny incident this morning- went to pick up DS after his sleep and he'd rotated 180 degrees from where I'd put him down!! Not sure how he managed that as he still can only roll onto his side and that's it! No wonder he was crying and a bit bewildered!

We have DS's baptism this weekend, so lots of preparations going on here! Cake is made and iced, last shopping done. Just need to get all the salads and potatoes made tomorrow and set up all the tables. Hopefully will be a good weekend!

    Anyone else christening their kids?
