hey Zoo...its good that you know what you want and where you stand for all things in your life. Am glad you have been able to make such decisions and feel good about them. I went back when dd1 was 10 months old and it tore me apart. I went back soley for the money as we we having our wedding and needed the extra cash. Once that was done I cut my hours and finally finished in July last year. I will go back eventually...when the girls sleep through regularly and will do night shift (mental health nurse). Although dh is an electrician and earns enough so dont have to worry to much.
I went back to work when DD1 was 14 months old. Like Melissa it was coz we needed the extra cash. I did like the extra time to myself though and that my life normalness to it.
As for TTC I'm not supposed to have any more kids (my uterus tore in a + shape) while in labour with Lara but my GP is referring me back to the ob who did my c/s to see if there is any chance that I might be able to have one more. Obviously it would require extra monitoring and I would probably have to have an elective c/s at 36 wks. I will wait and see what the ob says first though.
My inlaws arrive tonight not really looking forward to that!!!
Zoo - I went back to work about 3 weeks ago just 2 x 6 hr days and I love it, my job is at an Engineering company is to cost all the jobs that we make so its a desk job but I love it and the ppl - I miss Bella like crazy but my Mum looks after her and she loves Grandma - so its a win win. You will be right!
Mini - OMG TTC! You go girl! We will try next year as we would like Bella to be 2 and also we need to have bub when the govt paid maternity leave is in as I will have no A/L stored up like I did this time.
Leigh - I hope your OB gives you good news! I am going to try for a VBAC for my next one but will see what happens - would rather have a healthy safe bub and if that means another c-sect then so be it.
Bella is still sleeping trough goes to bed at 6.30 and gets up at 6.30 so thats a great sleep!
She has now made her bottles every 4 hrs - I just followed her lead and she had solids between so thats a good routine we are in. She can now sit up for hrs without falling - but is showing NO interest on rolling and still hates tummy time... will that mean she has trouble crawling???
She is also now standing on her legs - you have to hold her but you can just hold her arms and she stays up.
Her head is getting better so I hope our next visit to the RCH is a good one!
I had my little vent to you girls and my mum, and am now feeling that I am doing the best for my princess when I do go back to work. It just means my days off with her she will bestuck in my arms all day for cuddles.
I do have a question, I am still Bfeeding B 5 times a day (I have done the routine feeding since she was born, same time, everyday, I think it is my Nurse tendencies!) anyway, this is what her routine looks like:
7am - BF for 15mins
830am - 2 - 3 tbls of FAREX and puree
9am - 11am - SLEEP!!
11/1130am - BF of 3-5mins
2/230/300pm depending on what time she stopped mucking around for her sleep, she will BF for 10 - 20mins
530/600pm - BF 5mins
630pm - 2tbls pumpkin/vegies (vary rarely eats that much!)
8pm - 30min BF/cuddle then to bed!
My questions are: Should I stop BF first before solids (B is 7 months+), how do I get her to eat more vegies at night? She does play with finger food of steamed carrot sticks etc. Also, when should I start pureeing meats etc.? and is 5 BF's too many?
B is a great sleeper and has 3 sleeps a day (big one in the morning, half at lunch, and a quick recharge nap at 4 then sleeps all night). I have always woken her in the mornings at 7 as my DH changes her and gets to see her before he goes to work otherwise we sleep in on the wkends She is just starting to crawl and has 2 bottom teeth (got her first at 4mths!!! with the other close behind at 4 1/2mths!).
Just wanted to pop in and say Hi.. and check out your gorgeous little bubs!!
I cant believe its almost been 8 months!!
Zane and I are doing really well... hes crawling everywhere which is keeping me on my toes!
Hope you lovely ladies are doing well.
Take care xox
Zoo 5bf's is about the right amount, you definately do not want to cut any out at the moment....Food before one is meant to be fun.........so BF should still be the main source of food and solids is just some extra fun for them to start learning.....especially given how long she is feeding for (5mins) you want to keep that many feeds in for as long as possible....
aaaaahhhh i need to vent!! AGAIN!! I think my in-laws are tryin to break me! I have had a few run ins with them before I was pregnant and once after but mostly we tolerate eachother, mostly me not saying anything. I get they love B and I am just the 'mother' that brought her into this world but, god damn it, she is mine! She is not 'their' precious child s my stupid father in law constantly says to MY baby. I am so angry. Newest development, for my MIL birthday they are having breakfast... at 7am! Wouldn't be considered an issue if I didn't have a baby, but what is mostly making me angry is that they know I feed B on a routine. 7am is when she wakes up and has her first breast feed, so, how are we going to be there at 7?! I have no problem BF her over there but the fact is, why so early? I have decided that she will be going in her pyjamas and I will be keeping her as close to MY routine as possible, which means we will be home in time for a 9am sleep!!
And another thing, we are going away next week to visit more of their family and are catching a 6 am flight! Their choice not mine and we didn't get a say what flight we caught as they want to visit here before we go ter etc... To show B off!! Again, MY daughter! I am so mad and the worst part, my DH says I am controlling. Is it wrong for me to try and keep B in her routine and happy as I know what she wants/needs? I am just freaking about saying anything to DH about this wkend and the next and trying to get B as close to all her 3 sleeps as I can! I just want people to understand that I like my routine and I am not doing it on purpose but she is a baby not a doll ! B needs her sleeps to keep her the happy, healthy babe she is. I hate seeing her so tired laying my arms just wanting to go to sleep but we have to do this and see these people and have to be here at this time. I just want to lay her down and let her rest, it breaks my heart.
Sorry this is long and I have now made myself cry from getting so worked up and seeing my baby so tired.
I have this problem a few times too - things are on at a certain time and ppl expect you to be there and for a while I would but now if Bella needs a sleep then we get there late or we leave early. If ppl get cranky then so be it - they are not the ones with a over toered cranky bub to deal with.
Zoo B is in a similar routine to Ruby. I offer her solids and quite often she only has a little bit. I'm not too fazed because my DS was 8 months before he'd even eat anything. She's getting enough from her boob and unless her weight gain drops I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Also on the routine thing, I know it's wonderful for your bub to be in a good one but having one day off it isn't necessarily a bad thing. We have to be a bit flexible because of her older brothers and school and playgroup etc. 7am is a tad early though...ask them if you can do brunch instead
Kate just thought I'd reassure you that while Ruby is rolling all over the place she can't sit up at all. I sit her up and she flops over lol. Bella might skip crawling or even be a bum shuffler which I must add is the cutest thing!
Hi Kylie! Wow at Zane crawling
Leigh I hope that you get good news from your OB
Melissa how exciting for you planning another bub
Alls good with Ruby. She hates fruit though. I gave her pear today and she spat it everywhere with rassies lol. Lives the savoury stuff like her mummy though!
hi guys
I havent been in for a while. DD has been such a sick little girl with a chest infection. She has not slept at night at all for about a week, we are all so, so tired. She spends the night coughing and crying She is on antibiotics now which I hope will work.
Melissa- arghh TTC again! That's so exciting!! You will have 3 little cuties
Zoo- you poor thing. My IL are the same. Always grabbing her and refusing to give her back. I understand about the routine thing. Funnily enough, thats why I think DD is sick...she was out of her routine last week and really messed everything up.
Worst thing about this sickness is DD needs to be on me all the time, she will not self settle, she has lost her voice so I feel bad and feed/ cuddle her to sleep. This is the ONLY way she will get a bit of sleep. Im praying our routine will come back when she is feeling better!
Hi to everyone else, can hear her stirring, better head off xx
We got some pretty lacy curtains for Ruby's room yesterday and DH put them up today. They look great and Ruby approves because she's already rolled over to them and given them a tug
Skye, my DD has also been sick this week with a cold virus, which has meant lots of snot, lots of coughing and not much sleep!
Poor little thing - it was awful hearing her cough and cough. And because it was a virus, we couldn't get any antibiotics for her. But she's finally better now, still slightly snotty but no coughing.
We've been a bit concerned because she has had a very slight bleeding nose on and off lately, so off to the Dr's again tomorrow to get that checked out. It's amazing how your brain automatically assumes the worst, so fingers crossed that it's nothing major!!
We have sick bubs here too. Both Olivia and Rebecca have a viral infection, snotty nose and wet cough, but just have to ride it out...no AB's either. Rebecca also has conjunctivitis again so she has drops for that. We havent had much sleep either for the past week , Bec has been in with us for the past few nights and last night was a shocker. Hopefully they will be better in a few days.
Rebecca is also teething...she is constantly rubbing her bottom gum with her tounge and chewing her hand. I can see the teeth just under the gum but they havent cut just yet...such a slow process! So Olivia has just finished getting all her teeth and now we start all over again!
Better go clean, the house is a pig stye after having 2 clinging bubs
Oh no, lots of sick bubbies!
Last night Mia constantly woke up screaming, I had no idea why, until today I felt her gums and felt a little tooth! Its just slowly breaking through, she must be in pain. I gave her bonjela before bed tonight and she settled better than usual.
~Raven~ Lol @ Ruby tugging at the curtains. So cute, sounds like she likes them!
mellys bubby belly - sorry to hear you have a sick bub too I hope the blood nose isnt anything to worry about, let us know how you go!
Melissa- Arrgghh sleepless nights for you too we got antibiotics because the dr said it was bacterial, and an infection. It is really helping. I hope your little ones feel much better soon and you all get some sleep. You're right teething is a long process....how annoying that Olivia has just finished and now you are doing it all again!
Ok, better go, hope everyones bubs feel better soon and we all get some sleep xx
