Hi! Haven't been here much lately but thought I'd drop in with an update. We visited our paediatrician yesterday for the 6 week check (she was 9 weeks yesterday actually) and everything is going well. :) Kaitlyn is 6.45 kgs (put on 1.5 kgs in total), 61.5 cms tall/long and head is 39.8 cms. She's growing very well. :)
He also told us that he'd give us a referral to a skin specialist to talk about her port wine stain birthmark later this year...I'm already curious and interested to hear what they'll have to say (it will mean a trip to Sydney but well worth it).
Sleep is another story though...Kaitlyn isn't sleeping much at all... She generally sleeps twice in a 24 hour period...about 2am to 6 am then 7 am to 11 am!! We just can't get her to sleep during the day more than 5-20 minutes here and there... It's sooooo frustrating!!!! I don't know what to do with her... DS was a bad sleeper but at least he'd sleep bits and pieces each day...she barely sleeps at all. We're currently trying settling her by patting/rocking her in the cot but after 1.5 hours she's still screaming with no signs of settling...it's so hard... We've just gotten her on Losec (DS had 'severe' reflux) so perhaps that could be something to do with it...if so then I hope the Losec will kick in soon. Has anyone got any ideas of how to get her to sleep? I'm sure this heat (40C+ but maybe 25C inside) isn't helping either...
Anyway, that's my whinge for the day...sorry! ;) Just don't know what to do any more and it's getting to me... Hope you're all doing well and that the bubbas are all growing well too. :)
PS Jovi - my DS wouldn't take a bottle or dummy...we tried and tried and tried with him for months on end. DD will take a bottle eventually but isn't excited about it and won't take a dummy. I'm making sure we give her a bottle every day or so just so we can keep her going on it and not get stuck like we did with DS. Good luck, I don't have any suggestions except that if you get her to take it then make sure you continue with it. :)
-
Hello all,
SSmiles- sorry to hear about your troubles. Hopefully the Losec does help a bit. Rebecca cat naps a lot, but some days she will sleep during the day for a few hours. Its hard when you have a toddler around coz all you seem to be doing is tryig to settle.
Leigh- good to hear from you. My dd1 also likes to help but I have to watch her like a halk. Her loving cuddles smother her face and shes so excited about pointing at her eyes she almost pkes them out. Shes also started to try and carry her...not good. But all in all she loves her to bits and am glad I have this age gap.
Jo- Happy 40th birthday, gald you had a good night. Sorry no help with the bottle feeding issues as Becca takes hers no probs. In saying that I cant get her to have a dummy either...but I'm not to fussed with that, she just sucks her fist instead.
Kylie- hows the diahrea going?...not yours, lol~!!
Us- we are going good. Olivia has dropped her day sleeps so am finding it a bit tough as Becca still wakes up during the night. Becca smiles and laughs and makes the ooh sound ...its so cute. She wriggles all oer the floor too, which is new for us in that Olivia had been in her hip harness for 5 weeks at Beccas age. Its so different having a baby that can move its legs around and is not confined to its back!!
Well, hope everyone is well...its so hot here, am hoping it cools soon

HI all,
Smiles -the only way I can get Willow to sleep is on her belly with a small towel or cloth nappy folded under belly. I know this is against all the recommendations but if she is any other way she will only sleep for very short stints (maybe 20mins). She was also on Losec for a few weeks which did help but we were able to wean her off in the last week without too much trouble.
Melissa - hear you on the older sibling watching I leave the bouncer or the playmat in the portacot which I have set up in the loungeroom so that if I do turn my back then Charli can't get to Willow - turned around once (when she was on the playmat on the floor) and she also tried to pick her up (I was still in the room though). Was thinking of getting a big playpen off Ebay for later but thought I'd wait a bit to see how things go.
We had our biggest sleep through the night ever last night (touch wood) from 8.30pm til 6am) woo hoo!! I always thought it was a myth that babies this young slept through as it was at least 6 mths before we lost the 1am feed with DD1. Now I just have to get dd1 to stay in her own bed through the night - she usually comes in around 3-4am and from then I don't get back to sleep.
Getting late now so off to bed for me, take care.
xJo
-
Hi Girls,
Quick hello from me.
Jo - The only way I can get Lara to sleep is on her belly too. I used to panic at first coz of sids and all but I went and bought a sound and movement monitor for a bit of peace of mind. Still do worry though but like Willow she'll only sleep short stints if she is on her back.
Gotta go cook dinner. Have a great weekend
-
Well hello busy ladies!!! Hope you and your bubs are all well.
We have been doing fine, except for a bit of conjuctivitis, which has cleared very quickly. My next worry is that my niece has come down with chicken pox today, so we are hoping that Becca hasnt got them. My niece is the kind of kid who is very motherly and clingy to babies and toddlers, so we have had some close contact on Sunday...and Saturday for that matter. Fingers crossed.
Rebecca has been sleeping well most nights:) I feel good. Shes growing so quickly and is almost too big for her bassinett.
Better go...can hear Olivia getting up to something!
-
Hi lovelies! sorry I've been MIA. Had to cut back due to Caleb needing more of my attention now his brothers are at school.
Ruby is wonderful. She's such a doll! I'm in luuurve :D
-
Hi girls,
My gorgeous girl Sienna was actually born on the 9/11 but as I recognise a few ppls in here, I thought I might sneak into this baby buddies group - pls let me know if anyone has a prob with that, I'll understand!!
Sienna has been an absolute doll, altho we are going through some trying times at the moment. She has been formula fed since 6 weeks old but for the last two weeks has been spewing like nothing else. It's so frustrating (not to mention time-consuming changing outfits, then labour intensive with all the extra washing). So last nite I changed her from S26 Gold to S26 Lactose Intolerant as she's also had terrible wind.
So we haven't had a peaceful nite for a while and as for sleeping thru, pfft I wish!! No such luck in this household.
however we love Sienna to bits and all it takes is one little smile or a coo, and all is forgotten!!
looking forward to catching up with the girls i know from 'belly buddies' and looking forward to getting to know some of you other mums a bit better!
-
Hi Mel,
Glad to see you've snuck into this group too. As you know I'm not meant to be in this group either but still pop in from time to time to say hi and see how everyone is going.
Poor Sienna, hope the new formula works!!!
Hope everyone else is doing well. DD1 has vomiting and diarrhea so I am  the rest of us dont get it.
-
Hi girls
Went and got Becca weighed today, shes now 5.3kgs and 58.5cms long. Shes going great guns.
Good to see you Mel am sorry to hear Sienna has problems with chucking. Hope the chang in formula works well for you and you get some rest.
Leigh I hope you al dont get the bug. Hope she recovers soon.
I just fell asleep on the couch with Becca while Olivia slept (she was so tired she fell asleep on the kitchen floor...shes dropping her day sleeps, but that now means she will be up til at least 10pm:()
Shes grizzly...got to go cook
-
Hey guys. been a bit busy here just bought a second home! Bubs is finally gaining weight nicely and BF is wonderful escept i've got masitis not so painful as all over feeling rotten.
But where and how are our VIc mums???? i can't remember where everyone is from but i hope everyone is ok????
-
Hi Melly :D Nice to see you! Hope Sienna is doing better with the formula change!
Leigh, gee you don't need that by the sounds of it! Sending you some illness avoidance vibes.
Melissa she is doing well! Love the ticker pic too :)
Smoz hope the mastitis clears up quickly
There are fires not too far from here but they are far enough away to be no problem. We had a bit of smoke on Saturday and a yucky brown sky which made it a bit of a reality IYKWIM. Living in the suburbs kind of detaches you from it in a way.
Even though Ruby is sleeping through (YAY) Caleb isn't so I'm tired too. He's taken to coming into my bedroom and screeching at me from the doorway :(
-
Hi girls, thanks for the hellos and welcomes! Just a short but sweet msg from me. Sienna won't take the new formula after all that, so it's back to the old stuff *sigh* the joys of motherhood, lol!! Glad to hear you're all doing well (Leigh: hope DD kicks the bug asap, and Smoz: hope the mastitis gets better asap!!).
Take care xo
-
hey mel, try sienna on sma as it is a bit thicker than the others and my DD loves it. It keeps her fuller for longer too.
Meara is doing really well but I think she needs to put on a bit more weight. I had her weighed yesterday and she is only 5830 grams fully clothed, but she is 65cm long. So long and thin might not be to bad lol. She is so wonderful and sleeps the night through (what a blessing).
DF and I are planning on #6. We talked about it the other night and he agreed straight away that that is what he wanted omg. So here we go again and just when I had him talked into getting the snip too lol.
Will have to pop back in and see how everyone is doing. Take care and sympathies to all in Victoria
-
OMG kim thats so funny youre already planning number 6!!! AND the fact its your dh thats keen for it. My dh said to me in the midst of Olivias 230am tantrum the other night...'you still want another one?' .....well of course i do! We want only 3, but i was thinking about it the other day.....I dont know if that will be enough to satisfy me!!! When do you know enough is enough? My mum had 8 of us, granted she started at 19 years old...I started at 31! Dont think I want that many, but 4 would be nice!!! OMG im thinking like this....
Anyway Becca is doing great with sleep...unless Olivia wakes her up with her screaming!!! We have been having some sleep issues with Olivia...shes getting teeth (2 year old molars) and shes been a nightmare...also the tantrums. However in saying that shes developing into a real bright sociable funny smart little girl. And when she says I love you mummy, it melts your heart:)
Ok, got to go.
-
lol Melissa, I said after the 5th that I was never, ever having any more but now we are ttc #6 pmsl. I can honestly say that after the 6th will be enough. I don't have a car big enough to carry us all and I refuse to buy a bus, the tarago is big enough. My DF wants a boy this time. I hope we get it cause he cannot talk me into any more. I will be 41 when this one comes (if it happens straight away).
Good luck to all the others thinking about ttc, lots of baby dust to you
-
Kim- are you trying now??? Wow if you are, that wont be much of an age gap!!!! I want to have a boy next. I really wat to be the mother of a boy. I have 6 brothers and they were great. Not saying i dont enjoy my girls, iykwim? I think we will wait til becca is almost 1 til i ttc again.....unless i run out of my pill script early and forget to get more!!! DH will be 30 in july, so i dont want to be pg for that. i was pg for my wedding last year so missed having a good drink then and my hens too!!!
Good luck with it all!
-
Wow Kim! All the best for TTCing bub #6 :goodluck:
No more bubbas for us. DH got the snip last Friday. Glad and sad at the same time IYKWIM.
Melissa I have the same thing going on in my house ATM. Bub sleeps like a champ but Caleb wakes me up screaming at midnight. He's teething too :(
-
Sam that pic is so funny....first thing I though was OMG you buzz cut your boys!!!!! Then I read they weresaving you on toothpaste.....oh I need some sleep!!! How cute. DH gave himself a buzz cut the other day...not my fav hair cut but none the less!!! We had another one of those nights again...Rebecca slept from about 10 til 630am and Olivia was up screaming at 1130. She must have had a nightmare coz she was so distraght ?sp she took ages to clam down and ended up in bed with us....then the dog at 330 (which has been waking the neighbours several times a night) and me having the edge of the bed! Well Olivia and Adam are still snoozing in bed, Rebecca is sleeping on the floor in the lounge and me......I'm up!
-
wow!! I'm finding one kid enough of a handful at the moment!! how exciting that you girls are ttc again. I think I'll wait a while, maybe until Sienna is around two. That seems like a loooong way away at the moment but the way time goes, she'll be running round in the blink of an eye. Best of luck girls, can't wait to hear the good news when you fall xox
-
Hello everyone, how are you busy ladies going??? We are good, had beccas hip ultrasound today and it hasnt improved so next week we will find out if she has to have some treatment. I am hoping not coz I am enjoying having a baby who doesnt wear a harness. Becca has started to push herself backward on the mat today...shes only done it once, but it was amazing. If she goes in a harness, she wont be able to do that at all. Am a bit miserable with the news...if you cant tell....so hope you and your bubs are well.
-
Hi Girls,
Melissa - Good luck for next week when you find out if Rebecca needs treatment or not. I have my fingers crossed for you both!!! She is a clever girl pushing backwards on the mat!
Not much news my end. Lara is almost 4 months old, can't believe how big she is getting. Can you beleive its been almost a year since we joined belly buddies due in Nov 16 - 30 thread. DH, Lara and I went to the movies today. Lara did the biggest poo in there. It was one of those huge ones that come up the back and front and leak out. It was gross. Can't believe she had to do it while we were in there.
Better go, hi to all the mums and bubs.
-
hello girls!!
I havent been in here for a while Im sorry :(
I hope you are all really well. We are great here, LOVING every day, it just gets better and better doesnt it?? Although I think with more than one bub it would be really hard. Ive only JUST started to think gee I could go another. Up until now, I was thinking Mia would be an only child. But she's such a joy, I definitely want more.
Mini- same as you, Id LOVE a boy next! Hope the ultrasound results were ok? Mia had hers last week, we havent seen the specialist yet, but the woman doing it said her hips looked ok...so Im hoping she wont need any further treatment
Leigh- arrggh you are right, nearly a year since I joined the december group. WOW time flies. It has been the best year of my life!
mellys- same here, one is a handful, we are going to wait til Mia is 3 or 4, but thats only if the financial situation improves.
DH is wanting me to go back to work soon :( I just want to be with my bubby :(
-
Hello thought i should letyou know that beccas hip review was good. Specialist seems to think it will resolve itself but we have to go back in 9 weeks.
All good here, am listening to Becca talking away to her toys...so cute! Shes had recurring conjunctivitis and I dont seem to be getting it under control. She also has a cold, luckily nothing elses coz olivia has had oral thrush and also a rash on her vagina that turned out to be thrush too. I was thinking becca might get the oral thrush coz Olivia often steals her bottles!!! They are both on the mend, yay.
Well i assume everyone is busy, hope you mums and bubs are well
Melissa x o
-
That's great news about her hip Melissa :D
Oh no lol Leigh that poo sounds delightful ;) It always comes at the worst time. We haven't had a public blowout yet but I've had my fair share with the boys!
 Skyeblue. I hope you get to spend a bit more time home with bubs.
Ruby is doing awesome :D She's started giggling. The boys love that and they get a bit silly. Her eyes are starting to get colour. Looking like she'll go brown I think.
-
Hello, so quiet in this thread, everyone must be busy with their bubs. My problem is my laptop is on the kitchen bench and is on all day!!!! Too much surfing!
We have had some horror days with Rebecca. She must be going through a growth spurt. I thinks shes 15 weeks old now ( how terrible I cnat rmember...shes 3.5 months!!) Shes been waking through the night again, her feeds are lasting 1.5 hours or she will only drink 60-100 mls of a 200ml feed. She naps for 10 minutes and then wakes up crying and wants to be held constantly. She has this new thing of poking her tounge out....probably why she wont take her bottle! I dont think she will be far from rolling either from back to front coz shes twisting herhips over, just needs to move the top half. She squirms around on the floor, shes very vocal and has great laughs now. Shes also started to lift her head up alot. I will turn around in the car and look at her and shes lifting her head up....wants to do it all the time.
Ok, shes awake....how is everyone else going??? What are their babies up to? Is anyone left in this thread......!!!! LOL
-
Hellooooo Ladies,
Sorry I've been so MIA from this thread. I am lurking though.
Harriet is an absolute darling, we all love her so much. She's fully breastfed and thriving after a bit of a rocky start with attachment issues, a cracked nipple and mastitis. We use cloth nappies almost full time, we just use one disposable at night. She's been sleeping through the night since two months old. Like 9pm to 6am. It's amazing, DH and I still can't believe it. Every morning we wake up and say FOBS (far out brussel sprout, OMG alternative) she's done it again! DS still wakes up through the night about once or twice a week but we just take him straight back to bed and it's not too onerous. They share a room, DS in a toddler bed, DD in a cot. There's been absolutely no rivalry/jealousy from DS, he loves her just as much as we do. So all happy, happy news here from us.
The other day Harri was kicking about on the floor with her nappy off. I left the room for a few minutes, came back in and she'd rolled over off her mat and done a wee on the carpet. It was great that she rolled 'an all but the carpet+wee made it a little less exciting.
Melissa - I'm so gald to hear Becca's hips are looking good.
-
Hi all! It sure has been quiet in here...guess we are all busy being mums...hehe... ;)
My little princess is such a good little girl...she's sleeping up to 11 hours a night (well for the last 4 nights) although she doesn't sleep much at all during the day. She's gotten herself into a rough routine of 6 feeds a day which is great! She's just wonderful...so very different to what DS was like as a bub...hehe... ;)
We have an appointment to see a specialist dermatologist in Sydney in May for her port wine stain birthmark so that will be interesting...hopefully there are no associated problems but I guess we'll wait and see.
DD is cooing and 'talking' ('ahgoo') and trying to sit up...haha...she rolls a lot too...crazy girl... ;) She's about 7.5 kgs & 65 cms...a BIG girl for not quite 15 weeks. :)
Curious to know how other bubs are going with feeds and size too. Hope you're all well!
-
Hey guys yer sorry been mia,
umm things still rocky here but good aswell. Can't remember what i last wrote but we bought a house and settlement is this friday so been busy packing and cleaning! Marriage is still having many problems, i have been diagnosed with sever depression and made the difficult descision to go on ADs, but am still able to BF so happy there.
Tallon is doing great feeding well albiet irregularly (yer switched to demand feeding) onto my second bout of mastitis though i have no idea how as i have quite a low supply as it is.
He is rolling all over the shop has been since the 3month mark both ways so thats exciting, he is such a happy baby always smiling and giggling and so very very content its amazing.
-
Just thought i would bump this thread....it was heading to the 3rd page:( Where has everyone gone?? I know the ppl due in December stayed with their group, but wheres our November group??? is it that i have way too much time on my hands....instead of doing housework????
Rebecca has been rolling back to tummy. She can lift her head right up whe doing tummy time. Shes having 5-6 feeds a day and is sleeping from about 930 til 8am....pitty about her sister though!
Hope you ae all well
-
Yeah where is our nov group?? If your all anythng like me... way busy!
Would be great to hear from you all again...
Kate xox
-
Hi Girls,
I've been wondering the same thing. This is such a quiet thread. Remember when we were pregnant we were always busy chatting to each other. I miss that!
Lara is getting so big. She is 4 1/2 months now. She had her 4 month needles last wk. She didnt have any reactions to them but I have never heard her cry so loud in my life as she did when she got them.
I am getting my implanon removed on Monday, I got it put in when Lara was 4 days old but I am constantly bleeding and it has made me put on weight which I cant get off no matter how hard I diet and exercise.
Hope all the mums and bubs are well.
-
HI girls,
Yes have been lurking, all going well here. Willow is growing really well. In 95% for height and weight in 75%!
Alas the night time sleep through have not lasted :( I tried to get a routine for the day time and the night went out the window....trying desperately to get that back...its killing me,10pm 1am and 4am last night...then wouldn't go back to sleep and DD1 wandered in at 5.30 wide awake and ready to play, and I had to be at appointments the other side of town by 9am.
But I am sure that it will be just a short time and I will again get at least 5-6hrs sleep straight...and everytime Willow grins at us it makes it all worth it :)
Feeding well, but absolutely refuses a bottle of EBM. Given up trying now. Can't believe how quickly the time is flying and that she has already passed the 4 month milestone.
Smoz - good luck with the moving, hope things settle down after that.
Leigh - have Willow's immunisations next Mon, dreading that crying.
Kate, Mel & Rachel - good to hear all going well your way as well.
Defintely seems to be a lot easier second time around...but I still don't know where the time is going.....
take care all
xJo
-
Hi everyone!
Jovi- I hope you get some more sleep soon, it sounds the same as our nights at the moment!
Leigh- sorry to hear the 4 month needles werent so good. Mia surprised me and didnt cry! I distracted her with a toy, and the dr squeezed her leg, so I dont think she noticed!
Mini- my god you are getting some great sleeps!
We have had a crap week or so. Mia will go to bed at about 7.30, wke at 11, 1.30, 4.30 and 6.30. I had enough this morning and have started the SOS routine in the hope that it will help.
She crashed at 7pm tonight, so Im praying it doesnt mean she will not sleep as long.
She used to be so good only waking once a night!! Grr what happened....
-
Hey Skye good to see you around. Rebecca may be sleeping great BUT Olivia is my problem and most nights its a struggle to get her to bed and a struggle to keep her in there. Shes up every night without fail and I end up sleeping on the floor in her room.
In saying that, Rebecca must be having another growth spurt coz shes feeding like anything and shes been waking for feeds at night...last night was 2 am. We are getting her needles on Friday....:(
Jo, go to see you here too, sorry youre not getting much sleep. I agree, its much easier second time around, but harder in some other ways...toddler!!!!
Leigh bugger on the implanon, what will you do for contraception?
Kate; hows things? I have been reading your posts, sounds like you have been having a bit of a rough time, but youre managing great.
DD1 turns 2 on April 1, cant believ it. Ok girls are in the bath with dh..... got to go rescue!
-
Hey ladies, I've been very busy doing mummy things too :) and the endless amount of house work :o
Zane was a little unsettled a couple of days after his four month needles but I finally have my baby back yay! Was quite funny when he got his needles, he didnt realise he had the first needle then he had the second, and he screamed his head off for approximately 5 seconds then started laughing?? his doctor said it was the strangest reaction hes ever seen lol. Hes getting so big and makes the cutest noises now.. aww I just love him to bits.
Hes rolling both ways and just started sitting unassisted this week (not for very long though) Started him on baby rice cereal the other day (couple table spoons a day) and he loves it.
Love being a mum and already planning our second, will be TTC in October!
Hope you and bubs are all well xoxoxoxoxooxoxox take care
-
Hi All, We are going well, Rebecca had her needles yesterday and cried a fair bit, but shes ok now. We got her weighed and shes now 6.2kgs and 61cms. Shes plodding along nicely! Shes still only rolling from her back to tummy but will spend ages there looking around.
Olivia turns 2 on Wednesday, so tomorrow we are having a family bbq and today I made an elmo cake...it turned out really good!
Well, am going to relax, take care all
-
Hi Girls,
Melissa - Lara is rolling the opposite from Rebecca. You're very creative making the elmo cake, hope the family bbq tomorrow is nice. It is my birthday tomorrow. Dh is working tonight and all day tomorrow so last night he arranged for us and the two girls to go stay in a nice hotel. It was so relaxing to go swimming and out for a nice dinner.
I got my implanon out on Monday, my arm is so bruised from it. I bleed nearly the whole 5 months I had it in and the day after it came out my bleeding stopped. I am back on the pill now. I have to remember to take it everyday now. It has been years since Ive been on it.
Kylie - Glad Zane likes his rice cereal. I havent tried Lara on solids yet. Glad you love being a mummy hope when you TTC in Oct it doesnt take you too long to fall pregnant!
Jo - I agree the 2nd time around is a lot easier. I hope Willow is sleeping better for you.
Skyblue - I hope Mia is sleeping well for you as well. It is hard when you're used to getting sleep then bub starts waking again. Lara went through that for a few nights about a month ago, I didnt know what hit me. I was so tired.
-
Hey Leigh, am glad you sorted out your contraception, especially bleedind all that time... my sister was the same as you, however I never had AF on it...strange how it works.
I really wanted to do the Elmo cake but wasnt sure as I cant bake for penuts, but we got to taste the cut offs and its great.
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...hp?photo=12942
Not sure if this link will work but I put a pic of my cake! Oh and the eyes are yellow coz I got a pack of m and ms thinking the would have brown, but no, the whole pack was yellow coz of that comp they have on!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow., hae a fantastic day.
-
Oh wow, the cake looks great. I can't bake either. You did a really good job. Bet it tastes really nice!
-
Hi all
We are going ok here. Mia is slowly getting back to her usual night routine, she goes to bed at 7pm, dream feed at 11, wakes at 3 for a feed then up at 6.30. Would love to drop the 3am feed, but it is ok for now. Not looking forward to day light savings because that means she will start the day at 5/5.30am! I might slowly put her to bed later this week to get her used to it, not sure.
Melissa- how is Olivia sleeping now? I hope you dont have to sleep on the floor! lol. Poor thing (you I mean). Sorry to hear Rebecca cried for her needles, hopefully she wont have any other effects from them. wow @ the rolling. Mia isnt rolling yet.
Love your cake, what a fantastic job you did! Lol at the yellow m&ms, how rude of them!
Leigh- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope you have a wonderful day.
ouchie to your brusied arm. Glad you have gone back on the pill and it is sorted. We cannot find the time to BD, so I dont have to even get contraception! hehehe.
Kylie- Glad Zane likes his rice cereal, he must be ready for it. I bet you will have fun giving him fruit/ veges soon!
Wow, all these babies rolling! Must do more tummy time with Mia! I always forget!
