Babies Born November 1st ~ 15th 2008

Hi Natasha, glad you found us. lol. Read your birth story, sounds like mine... except my labour wasn't as long and i didnt have any drugs. lol

Charli is 'demand' feeding as well so shes feeding every 2-4hrs, sometimes she even wants a feed half hour after her last, but im not complaining yet, not until she puts on some more weight.
Alyssa was sick this morn and DP was out training for his forklift license, im so not looking forward to him going back to work its not gonna be easy on days like this where lys is sick and charli is hungry and then doesn't wanna sleep for almost 4 hours.

Kylie- lol @ logan being a chubba, sounds like he's growing perfectly.

I'm off to update on other threads before charli gets hungry again.

Hi. I'm finally able to join you all in here!

Not that I really have any time or energy to post much!

Hope everyone's doing well and enjoying their new bubs.

I am still finding my feet a little with Samuel. He's a great baby and is feeding well now and putting on weight. Does anyone else have a particular time of the day when baby is unsettled? It seems that between 8pm and 11pm every evening Samuel gets tired but won't go to sleep for longer than ten minutes at a time! This was also the time of day he was most active when I was pregnant with him. Interesting.

He woke up this morning with a bit of a rash around his neck and under his several chins! Totally freaked me out. Spoke to the child health nurse on the phone and she said it's heat rash and is common in that area. Poor little guy. Although he doesn't seem bothered by it.

DH has gone back to work today so it will be interesting to see how I cope without him. He's been such a Super Dad.

Well, going to go and have something to eat and try to get some more sleep before Samuel wakes up.

Does anyone else have a particular time of the day when baby is unsettled? It seems that between 8pm and 11pm every evening Samuel gets tired but won't go to sleep for longer than ten minutes at a time! This was also the time of day he was most active when I was pregnant with him. Interesting.

Melanie, yep, evenings are unsettled for us too. Katie wakes from an afternoon nap between 5 and 7pm and refuses to go to sleep again (apart from catnaps) until 11pm to 1am. On good nights though she doesn't wake up again until after 5am...so it's not all bad.

Lol Melsa, charli has that every night from betwwen 5-8, i was reading about it on aba website thats its very common they call it the 'arsenic hour'. charli is so nice she sometimes has it in the morning too. lol

we are doing ok poor immy has rosie virus and is very upset and just wants to be held and its so hard to try hold her and feed jarvis at the same time but we are gettin there slowly. Just wondering how many of ur bubs have got back to birth weight?? had jarvis weighed yesterday and he is 2.570kg so he hasnt got back to discharge weight either yet is this normal?? and how many days is it between poo's jarvis hasnt done one for 7 days the lady at the chemist where he gets weighed said it ok for b/f bubs to do that???

hey lira- sorry to hear bout immy, poor baby, hope she feels better soon. charli was back up to her birth weight by day 4, she does like 4+ poo's a day, although i've heard of some bubs who only poo once every couple of days. dbl check with your mchn jic though.

Charli is having arsenic hr all daytoday, she just wants to feed and feed and not sleep. dp and i had to tag team to eat our dinner tonight. lol.

Hi Lira, I've been told that it is quite common for newborns to go up to 10 days without a poo, so you probably don't need to worry too much. But as Kirra said, check with the nurse if you're concerned.

Long time no post!

We're going really well...It's certainly been busy though! Dh returned to work yesterday but both days have gone really well juggling the 3 boys! I've even managed to keep the house tidy, washing up to date and made nori rolls today!! I don't imagine it will last long though - LOL!
Ethan's just gorgeous...he seems to be getting a bit more unsettled each day though at the moment! I just pop him in the sling though and then I can go about the day with the boys! Although I usually can't wear him for too long as it kills my back...
Umm what else? Oh I've only got 3kg to lose and I'm back to my pre-p/g weight! Woohoo! I even went for a walk on my new treadmill yesterday - just a little one!
We had our first weekend away on last weekend...up to the PIL - It went pretty well considering it's a 2 1/2 hour drive away! Ethan slept both there and back and he was pretty good while we were up there considering we were in a completely new environment!
Sleeps a bit hit and miss...although I managed about 7 hours last night (with 3 feeds in the middle!) normally it's more like about 5 or 6 hours...depends how early I go to bed.
Ethans feeding about every 3 hours or so...unfortunately no longer stretches at night yet!! He's also only feeding one side at a time which seems to be plenty for him. He's quite windy at the moment but I think it's cos my milk flow is so full on he gulps and splutters and gives himself a tummy ache!
Luckily he seems to be sleeping quite well overnight and settling ok...more in the daytime we have issues (touch wood!)
He'd gained 200g a week and a half after he was born and he's having another weight in on Friday so I'm very keen to see how much more he's put on - he was very sleepy and didn't feed much the first week but has certainly made up for it now so I think he should have gained quite a bit!

Sharon - Wow - what an unsettled night bubs had - how lucky you mum was there so you could get some sleep!

Nessie - Congrats on your little boy - wow, seems you've had a rough time of it. Hope you're recovering well!

Kirra - Yeah on the weight gain! All that feeding's certainly working! It can be frustrating when they feed every hour or so though thats for sure!! I agree though - it's nice to see them gaining weight and you don't mind feeding them so much when they're so little...I think I read somewhere that they need to be at least 5kg before they'll sleep through/for longer?? Not sure how accurate that is though...
Bugger at having a bad night with Alyssa...Louis has been a bit feral at times also over the last couple of weeks...They're such great big brothers though but just a handful for their mummy! LOL! I can completely relate about the computer stuff - my dh is addicted to games and spends heaps of time on them...drives me crazy!

Kylie - Hope Logans more settled at night now! Wow at that weight gain - fantastic!

Fussyboots - Thats great your mum was so much help! My mums been a pain in the backside...LOL!

I bought a bubzilla sling and it's quite good...otherwise I've just got one of the baby carrier things but I haven't used that one yet...

Mel - Glad Samuels' going well! I'm sure you'll be fine with dh back at work! Umm..Ethan doesn't have one unsettled time in particular - it seems to vary from day to day but luckily so far it does seem to fall through the day and not at night! LOL!
Maybe try a bath at that time??
I remember Louis having a really sore mark under his chin on his neck when he was little cos we didn't realise he was sweating under there...we felt awful but sometime you don't know to check these things...we used a bit of powder on it to keep it dry and it was all good...

LIra - Oh you poor things...thats got to be tough! Hope Immy is better soon. Umm...Ethan was over his birthweight at his first weigh in which was 11 days after he arrived. He does quite a lot of poo's a day...I remember the boys slowing right down after a while but that was around 2-3 months old from memory...As Kirra said maybe just check with you mchn...

How's everyone coping with the sleep deprivation? I sometimes feel like a walking zombie.

Took David to be weighed at hospital last week and he had lost 40 grams, they thought my milk supply must have diminished, so advised me to comp feed an extra 60mls of formula or expressed breast milk at each feed and also express at each feed. So its very time consuming. Fortunately he gained 60 grams when i took him back 2 days later so it seems to be working. Have to take him to the paediatrician today, so I'll see what he says.

We have 'arsenic hour' too, only it seems to last for a few hours!

My god Kristie dont know where you get the energy to do all that. Treadmill? Housework?? :clap:

I'm with Cherene, I probably dont even make any sense when I do post. lol

Well, I'm off to give David a bath before taking him to drs. Enjoy your little ones.

Nessie - Yeah..sleep deprivation's a killer! I find I just keep going because as soon as I sit still I get sleepy! Well done on Davids weight gain! Hopefully you won't need to do it for too long!
How did you go at the Paed?

Kirra - Hmm, I'm still holding/feeding Ethan to sleep - from memory I don't think the boys got it until around 3-4 months...I just walk around with him doing what I need to do and he drops off...He's such a windy bub though - he usually wakes up anywhere from 5min-30min later though for another burp...lucky he's fairly easy to resettle after that though!
I have Ethans mchn tomorrow - I'm so excited to see how much weight he's gained! I'm sure he has as he's grown out of the 0000 bonds suits and into 000 now! Although is still in 0000 in other brands...bonds is always smaller!

Ethan had such a good sleep last night! He fed at 7pm and was in bed settled by about 8.30-9pm - he then slept until 11.15pm! So glad I went to bed early! Then he fed at 2.15am and then 6.15am so pretty good...that's probably the longest he's gone overnight and he was very settled - each feed/nappy change/settle only took about 30min!! Woohoo!
Mind you - the cheeky boys were up at 6am this morning as well so no chance of a sleep in - grrrr. They've both got runny noses today so I think they may be getting sick - the last thing I need!
He's been a bit unsettled this morning but I figured he probaby needed an extra feed after going so long overnight I suppose...

Well we had the mchn app, she has put on 315g in the last week which is good news. She was a bit of a ferrel this morn, everytime i put her down she would wake, aarrgg, needless to say i didnt get much done and only just got to have my shower before she woke and started screaming....yes screaming again. She gets so loud and hysterical if i dont pick her up straight away, cheeky bugger. I tried the hug a bub carrier yesterday but she didnt seem to like it very much, my friend says to give it another couple of goes.
Charli slept reasonably well last night too, must have been the night for them. lol. She had a feed at 10, 12.30, 4, 6 then 9 so i managed to get a good 3 hours straight in there. lol

Krisvee- are you going to woodbine for your mchn checks? thats where i went today, seen a older woman with dark hair, she was really nice.

Yep - I went to woodbine...I had Dylans appt today and we're back again for Ethan...Yeah the lady seems ok...probably not as nice as the lady from croydon but pleasant enough! LOL! Louis is going to that kinder next year as well - it looks great!!! We're going to try out the playgroup there as well..just waiting to find out what time his kinder is...

Wow at going to that kinder Kirra!! I know this is early but do you know which primary school you'll be sending Alyssa to?? We've got Courtenay gardens right near us but it's such a huge school!!! I've heard a brand new one is getting built over the other side of Thompsons rd because of the new estate going in...mind you would be way easier to just walk the kids to school - LOL!

Well, we didn't end up having takeaway...a friend dropped in and dh wouldn't go and get it so I crankily cooked - really healthy as well - hash browns, eggs, baked beans etc...LOL!!!

Ethan slept pretty well last night...I've noticed the less I fuss with him the happier he is going back to sleep - if I try to hard to bring up wind etc he just gets cranky so better to just put him down and wait for him to let me know when it's ready! LOL! He woke up for an extra feed this morning but it was cos he pooed his nappy...bugger...so now he's been asleep since his 5.45am feed!! At least I got to go back to bed for a bit before the boys woke up!

I think we're off to the shops today...just to cranbourne - I haven't been there before...I'm hoping santa will be there to show the boys...also have the mchn visit this arvo...very excited...

I think dh is home for the weekend as well (as in not working tomorrow) which will be great. It's out last quiet weekend before the onslaught of xmas functions/gatherings!!!

How exciting for a lot of you having your first christmas with a baby!! It just keeps getting more exciting as they get that bit older and start to enjoy the magic!!

Glad to hear everyone is well apart from the lack of sleep.

Lily is asleep & Pip isoutside with DH so I thought I'd catch up with emails etc. Ive read all the posts but my eyes are to bleary! ha!

Our unsettled time seems to be around 8-11pm too. With OPip it was 5pm. Oh well, what do you do! Lily is a spewer too so she'll have a massive spew & be hungry again! Had our health nurse appointment yesterday - Lily weihghs 4160g (she was 3450g at birth) so obviously she is doing ell with her feeds! hahaha! She's growing so fast!

Bought a peanut shell sling in the end - just trying to get used to it.

Lily has been pooing pretty much everyday now after last week having 3 days witot a poo & being really unsettled poor thing. The thing is I have troble settling her at night as she smells my milk & just wants to drink - that's when I call DH! If he's not around I end up feeding her to sleep which I don't like bt am not fussed about forming any bad habits yet as she's too young. I just wantto enjoy her!

Piper is still loving her little sister - she's always saying, 'she's so tiny'. She has started caling her Little Miss Tiny (from Mr Men!).

Oh yeah, how the hell to you add a photo to your signature(with the Lilypie ticker). Mine doesn't work - as you can see! Will try to add some photos to the gallery if this stupid machine will let me!

Natasha- be sure to select the full size ticker, you may have to shrink your pic in paint (i did, as the file was originally too big). Lily seems to be growing nicely, Charli feeds to sleep at night, she gets really hungry around 4-6 and usually feeds about every hour or two up until 10 or 11 when she'll start the longer 2-3hrs between feeds.

Charli was sooooo good today compared to yesterday, she woke up at 7.45 and was asleep by 9.45 which was a big improvement compared to yesterday where she didnt sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time for like 4 hours. lol. MCHN says its normal though which is reassuring, i just cant wait for her to be in a routine. i love to be organised.

Alyssa will be going to Lynbrook P.S, unless of course they zone it which they plan to do soon as they will have over 60 preps there next yr apparently, or so i was told today by the kinder. If i can't get her in there i'll def try the new one on thompsons road and if still no luck she'll go to rangebank which is across the road from red rooster in cranny north.

Cranny shops aren't great but they do the job, lol. Fountain gate is good but is just soooo busy sometimes so i'd rather cranbourne to save on ques. lol

Well Samuel is two weeks old today! He's already back past his birthweight and is doing well. He tends to feed every two to three hrs during the day and four to five during the night. Can't complain about that!!

He has started throwing up very now and then though which freaked me out the first few times! But considering he's having plenty of dirty and wet nappies and he's gaining weight the nurse said it's not an issue.

We had to take him to the hospital on Monday as he had a rash. Turns out its common, has no apparent cause and has gone away already but we were pretty scared!

Now DH and I have been battling gastro the last couple of days! Eww! Thank god my family lives close by!

It's action a-plenty in my world :)

Haven't got the time to do any personals today sorry. Sounds like everyones doing well though.
