have had meltdown over being pg over being in pain sorry am here but lurking for a while
hi girls I have a silly question ... I know we are all hormonal and emotional when pg but has anyone had a total meltdown at all? I don't know what is going on with mine at the moment but today was a shocker. Jake was pretty good today in the scheme of things as far as 2 yo go although he was particularly trying this afternoon... wanting to be picked up wanting to "help" which normally I just work into my afternoon getting dinner ready routine. DH is usually home just after 5 and Jake wanted to call him and talk to him and he promised him he'd be home in time for a bike ride. He got home after 6 which normally wouldn't be an issue. BUT I had a 2yo upset bcos Daddy wasn't home for the bike ride as promised and I was trying to cook dinner AND it was a new thing I was trying so he was constantly mummy mummy mummy I was hang on hang on hang on ... I had things timed so the fiddly bits I could do when DH got home to distract Jake then as he got home I gave DS his dinner who flatly refused to eat it and I lost it. Over something so stupid. Swore like a fish wife and burst into hysterical sobbing. Settled down got dinner finished we ate together I apologised for my outburst he apologised for being late Jake kept asking to go for bike ride but of course was too dark outside. Get through bedtime routine, DH cleans up what was left in kitchen (not much as I clean as I go) everyone is back to normal until I get up from couch to pee and notice the chicken parcels left over from dinner 2 hours ago were still on the bench. Made a comment about how cleaning the kitchen includes putting leftovers in fridge, sorry hun no worries will fix it up. ok. go to loo, come back out STILL on bench and he is lying on fat arse on couch STILL. Swear like fish wife chuck in container and chuck in fridge sobbing hysterically, contemplating why we ever moved up here away from my support unit to be closer to work when he gets home late anyway rah rah rah then continue to keep crying through shower and cry myself to sleep.
WTF IS WRONG WITH ME!!?!?!?!?!?! Is really just a normal night and he always forgets to put stuff in fridge but tonight I lost it! Just over being pg and being in constant pain and I just feel he has no idea how uncomfortable I am !!!!!
BUT don't get me wrong in the scheme of things I have a wonderful husband who does help out and isn't violent or anything ... no idea *sigh*

Ohhhh Nelly!!!!! you poor thing!!!!! yes i remember losing over stupid things too and it is frustrating feeling that we have to carry on and do everything we'd normally do despite being fat and uncomfortable, nevermind that looming in the back of our mind is the fact that we'll soon be bringing another little person into the mix that, altho you know you love more than anything, is still another responsibility.
There so much going on for you at the moment and it is taxing physically, emotionally, mentally... mother-ly lol guys just dont get it, and i know what you mean. i have a fabbo husband too but i still get frustrated - youre only human and a pregnant one at that!!
can u put your feet up a bit today? just sit with jake and pass the time?

I had my ultrasound this morning and everything seems fine........and apparently there its a 95% chance of the baby being a GIRL!!!!!!!! Im still in shock even though I saw the evidence..its either a girl or a boy without an obvious penis or scrotum :redface: lol
I went past pumpkin patch on the way home and nearly fell over in awe looking at all the beautiful girls clothing..I never knew there was so much choice and selection...I refrained from buying anything but enjoyed my first look in the PINK section!!!!!
Oh yes, Nicola, welcome lol its crazy how much money you can spend on girly stuff!! Glad everything's looking good...extra good!!!!

Funny you should ask Jols. Sleep has been getting better and better since we got rid of the dummy. She slept ALL NIGHT in her own bed last night!!!! woot!!!! she hasnt slept thru the night in her own bed ever!! im stoked lol
on the down side, getting her down to sleep night and day is a long winded process and to the point that im now not bothering to try and put her down during the day. if we go in the car she falls asleep and i put her in her bed when we get home, otherwise i'm just giving her 'quiet time' where she has to stay on her bed or couch and just look at some books or watch a dvd quietly or whatever..so we'll see how it lasts lol

Gigi - can you please tell me more about your potty set-up for when youre out and about? we've had a few trips out in undies and *touch wood* no accidents yet, but i feel very ill-prepared!!

awesome work with the dummy tara!!!! hope the 'sleeping all night in own bed' continues, we do the same with sophie, quiet time on the couch with tv for 60-90 mins a day, if she gets off i just tell her to get back ont he couch!! night time we have issues too, she constantly gets out of bed, we have to threaten door closesure with works eventually.
we all good, millie is gorgeous, smiling and talking heaps, just adorable, sleeping pretty well, both girls go down at night at the same time 6.30/7pm and she sleeps for around 6-7 hours then feeds around 4 hourly after that, so all good, im still sooooooooooooooo tired but thats life for the moment, still in liquid iron and multivitamins.
christy's matilda is very sick in hospital at the moment too, so please keep them in your thoughts

I am feeling more on an even keel have stepped up the RLT and started taking EPO. I really want this bubba to turn but it seems to just be going from tranverse to breech and back again.
My thoughts are with Christy and Matilda, its hard when the little ones are sick.
I havnt done any girl shopping yet.....dont want to jinx anything......Once I get a date confirmed for the babys birth I will work around that. We are moving house in less than two weeks and have a house to pack up lots of loose ends.
Zander doesnt have a day sleep unless we are in the car even though he can be R.S most of the day. MIL is visiting at the moment so I have been trying to rest and chill out a bit.

Taralee, this is how i handle "being outside home" with my newly tt-d miss bilby::
at home - in knickers
when out - in waterproof trainers
nappy bag - turned into tt-ing bag - goes everywhere with us
- spare set of clothing
- spare trainers
- potette and potette bags (for when we're at places that have no toilet or none nearby or we're too far away from the car e.g on the beach, playground with no loo)
- babywipes, loo paper
- wetbag
- hand sanitiser
boot of my car
- permanently set up to house a potty (very small boot, so no room for stroller as well)
- bag in boot that stays there, with loo paper, baby wipes, hand sanitiser, bottle of water (to rinse out potty with), spare potette bags in case of #2's
our routine is
- give her a potty opportunity
just before leaving home
when leaving car
when returning to car
as soon as arrive home
we had to work out what suited her.
she went quickly from potty to big people's toilet (with toilet insert) - for at home.
getting used to using "strange toilets" when out, took her about a week to get past that. I tried even taking the toilet insert with us, then a folding, padded loo insert, she didn't like using either of them, with strange toilets.
Having hand santiser or baby wipes with you, is good for public toilets, you jsut never know the condition of the loos you might come across.
for some reason, she is fine with using the car potty, but hates using the potty inside our home, HAS to be the big toilet or nothing!
inside the car, we have a special wee mat that fits the bottom half of the her carseat (to waterproof seat)

i found toilet training much harder than learning how to use MCN, in comparision, modern cloth nappies were a doddle! LOL. but bilby trained in a pretty short amount of time, despite me being so unsure about what to do.
i got heaps of great hints from the Tribal Baby website. it's an EC-ing website, but i still found plenty of the the principles could be applied to tt-ing a two year old.

Taralee..I stopped feeding Wyatt at 10mnths as he was biting me with his 4 teeth!!! and I knew it was time to convert to a sipper cup, the transition went well.
did u go onto formula? im not really keen on doing that? or just express breastmilk?
Wyatt has food allergies including milk protein..he would get hives and throw up a fair bit (we thought he had reflux before it was diagnosed) He went onto Neocate Formula which is a formula for allergy babies it is totally synthetic..he still has it once a day.
Can you hold on till 12mnths and then go on cows milk?? Otherwise expressing sounds like a good idea.
yeah my plan was to go til 12mths and then go to cows milk..i think with evie i went til 11 (then i was pg so just could not handle the bf'ing part) and i just mixed water with her milk...maybe i can do that. mind you, i fed him tonight and didnt get teeth lol

Taralee, all breastfed babies try out their teeth, bilby went thru that stage too - and we got past it.
i had to re-learn how to position her, for a feed.
i got taught about the back palate and the front palette at the aba bf-ing class i did, when pregnant. How important it is to have them ON THEIR BACK, get them to make a BIG MOUTH, so you can position your nipple inside their BACK palette - then it's physcilaly impossible for them to bite DOWN on you. but if you have your nipple in their FRONT palette, then it's physically possible for them to bite DOWN.
so the position of their body in relation to yours
the position where your nipple is in their mouth
this all makes a BIG difference
plus the usual
"take them off as soon as they bite and say firmly NO"
lactation consultants are great for shoiwng you how to do this IRL
aba local group members can help you too.
You don't have to wean, just because the baby bites, they're only trying out their new "toy", it's natural curiousity.
i had gotten lazy with my positioning of bilby for feeds, over the time, between being taught what to do, and when she actually had enough teeth (on the top) to bite me. so i had to re-learn it all again.
we're still going at 29 months, i assure you we WOUDL"T be, if we hadn't gotten past the biting stage, it's too painful to let it go on. I rang up the Parent Helpline and ALL they said was "take her off when she does it" - no info about palates and body position etc. ABA are the experts about this area.

Well, i just would like to have a proud mummy moment - so feel free to skip over if youre so inclined. Evie went up a class at swimming today so she is now in for 10minutes by herself and then i get in so she can swim to me and dive to me and what-not and then i get out for the last couple of minutes. i was so so proud of her! i couldnt believe how well she did! (well...i shouldve known! she does love it hahahaha)
Chino also had his first swimming lesson today - smiled at everyone, chewed on his fist. it was a blast LOL

Okay... well here's a run down.
Matilda was sick Thursday with a high temp, went to the GP who gave her the all clear except for the high temp. Overnight she vomited and her temp was 40.4 and then in the morning she was better for a little while and then her temp spiked again, then suddenly while I was in the shower with Jovie, Matilda couldn't stand light anymore. So I packed us up and went to the hospital. It was a full on 4 days in hospital and we got out last night. She was a very sick little chook. It was horrible to watch and very surreal.
We've gotten home last night & MIL broke her wrist last night. So now I am not sure how we will survive this. But we will. Its a bit over whelming, and I may lose my job in the meantime, but there are always more jobs.
Oh Christy you must be feeling so overwhelmed at the moment.......You will get through this......Stay Strong!!!

Well had my ob appt this morning and went pretty much as I expected...
BP is perfect and haven't had any issues all pg (touch wood) and bub is now measuring 42 WEEKS!!!!! NO wonder I feel like a skittle.... Did a scan to see the bub - flopping harry is a big one ...
We are still transverse lie, facing the back with what looks to be the elbow / shoulder resting in the base of my pelvis. Have booked a CS date for the day after my due date 14th May in the hope that baby will turn prior and I will go into spontaneous labor. He has a concern that bubs arm / shoulder may be lodged in the birth canal if my waters break while still in this position and my history isn't proving to be leaning towards an on time vaginal birth.
He suggested acupuncture and everything else to give this bub a shove around so I feel good that he is supporting what I am thinking too. I can't even reach my cervix it is really high but will have another go tonight after a shower when I don't have an audience - cat, DS and DH - coming in and out lol. Y

Are all everyone elses kids able to say "i love you mummy"? at this age?
bilby is so uncuddly, even when she's upset, i say "would you like a cuddle" and she ignores me. She will ask for "boobie" when she hurts herself, happy to have a breastfeed to help her get over pain, but not a cuddle.
i cut her fingertip last night, trying to cut her fingernails, god i coudln't believe i had done it!
we have gotten past the hysterical screaming for hairwashing time in the bath, by letting her hold a square mirror, so she can see what's going on. i don't like her having a mirror in the bath, but it's the only thing that stops her screaming and thrashing about. Mirror trick is also working, to get the sunscreen on her (without WWIII).
after three years, we have FINALLY got a kitchen table and four chairs, i am so relieved. it was really upsetting me, that bilby was growing up, not eating at the table. So we are still scum of the earth* (renters), but at least she eats at a table now, so i can feel 1% LESS guilty.
*according to most people, you are scum if you rent. e.g not thinking of your children, selfish, irresponsible to make that "choice", etc. Yes, i am feeling rather judged, just been reading a thread on another parenting forum.

We do what we can to survive and with the rising rate of homeless/jobless and the economy up the s**t, it makes more sense to rent than over commit yourself financially for the sake of "The Aussie Dream" (home ownership)
The only reason we decided to buy now is because we wanted to get first home owners grant before June and DH is on good income at the moment and we got a really good deal with a mortgage and repayments which are only $3 more per week than we are paying rent...we got a 100% loan as we had no savings and we have exisiting debt..we didnt think we would even get a home loan!!!
MIL only stayed 5 nights but it was a good break...but its good when she goes as Zander seems to turn on the behaviour when she is here because she totally pampers/favours him over Wyatt and he plays up for her (I have issues with this) She cant say No to Zander and he is starting to cotton on that Granma will let me do anything.
We were supposed to moving next thursday but there has been a hold up with solicitors drawing up mortgage documents etc so we have been delayed with our settlement date...another con of buying
Zander is not as cuddly as Wyatt and when I say hug for mum alot of the time he will just say NO and turn his head if I go to kiss him....I thought it was his personality or something to do with his traumatic birth...but it may just be a developmental phase???
Gigi that is absolutely ridiculous and shame on people for saying such a thing!! How about the fact that you are putting a roof over your child's head??! isnt that more important that whether you own or rent? a roof is a roof at the end of the day
speaking of rooves, we're doing the final bits and pieces to our house to put it on the market, theres a house that we desperately want to buy but i dont know if it will still be available when we're ready to buy :( oh well, whatever happens happens!
Gigi I saw on FB that you are not sleeping - are you ok?
We are bcak to broken nights sleeps ever since we set up the nursery basically :( so at least I'll be prepared for a baby that won't sleep! He keeps complaining that the dogs barking are scaring him and that it's scary as a general excuse for not sleeping. Not sure what to do here.

nelly have you tried white noise in jakes room? i use it for both kids and it pretty much blocks out everything. dogs, phones, other kid screaming lol. the one i use is ken davis aquatic dreams and its just rain sounds but continuous....quite comforting too i think
Nelly - nah, it's my "normal", going to bed at 2am - i usually want to go to bed at midnight, but whatever time i hit the pillow, bilby then wants a feed - i am sure she stalks me! So i'm put off going to bed earlier, cos i'm positive i will not get to go to sleep anyway.
are you getting any sleep? or being kept awake by kicking??
bilby is doing weird "having a nap before or at dinner time, then waking at midnight and wanting to stay up the rest of the night (until 4am say). so i am feeling especially zombish. normally she never naps, so this is really strange. and she can't be roused after a few hours (which was my first idea to do).
the toilet training is going so well, day and night trained - i have no idea how she is night trained, she can't go to the loo by herself. When she wakes at midnight, we always offer her a loo opportunity, then it's back to bed, in her night trainers, but they keep being dry each morning - i can't believe it - seems too good to be true.
she's starting to have trouble doing #2's - her lack of eating is finally having a consequence - so ahrd to get her to eat - her fave phrase is "no eat".
Taralee - we use Radio National on very low, as our white noise for bilby, but i like the idea of rain falling.
we seem to live in a suburb, where the locals think letting off fireworks is legal, so bilby does have loud noises to contend with, and our neighbours in the unit behind us, love to play doof doof music at all hours, god i would love to move! just to get away from the doof doof!
How is the biting situation going Taralee? any relief in sight?
I wonder how Ann is getting on with her twins?

Gigi - great job on the TT'ing again! wow! and nights! yikes!! i dont know how to tackle that one since her nappy is full in the morning despite having no drinks before bed. altho i put her down for a nap in undies last week and she woke up in a panic cos she needed to go..
He's not biting anymore thank goodness! the bottom teeth are on their way through so i hope it doesnt start again! ouchie!!
Well, its happened! we've dropped the day nap! no naps at all!!! so i make sure we go out in the car so she'll at least drop off for a little while, if i try and put her down at home it is a screaming marathon which just isnt worth it so i dont bother!
Chichi is teething badly so he's in our bed. Typical! Evies out and sleeping thru the night in her own bed and now he's in! oh well! he's in such pain! what to do!!

Bub has turned and seems to be in a really good position so my cs date has been cancelled ... have I already told you that? probably but oh well! Have tried all sorts of things to get a wriggle on - except sex as DH is refusing (might be because I am asking him so romantically if he'd like to deposit some prostoglandins!) RLT and EPO but I keep forgetting to drink the tea regularly so am getting tabs today. MY plan is acupuncture next week if nothing has happened. We even spent several hours traipsing around seaworld to no avail yesterday! Darren is in Sydney 2 days this week (today and Thurs) so if that doesn't tempt fate not sure what will.
