Hi Everyone
Not long now Nelly......We had some vigorous sex (TMI??)the night before my waters broke with Zander....I hopped out of bed at 6am and felt a pop and water just gushed everywhere. With Wyatt at nearly 40wks I had 2 sessions of acupuncture and a day later a strip and stretch...that night I started labour.
My latest pregnancy drama is my feet are getting swollen and my knuckles are really sore..so Im trying not to get to paranoid about preeclampsia..my next antenatal appoint is in 12days..I had some protein in my urine at my last appoinment but was told that happens when you are a bit dehydrated...I am really bad at drinking plain water
The boys are running me ragged and Im not sleeping well blah blah also we finally moved into our house even though it hasnt settled, our solicitors arranged with the sellers solicitors to let us move in early because we had to be out of our rental and had nowhere to go..it has been one stress after another and relaxing is the furtherest thing on my mind even though I am longing to do it!!! arghhh
Anyway enough of my dramas hope everyone is well...bye for now
OH Nicola...you poor lil dot :( pregnancy always seems so glamorous in theory doesnt it :( I'll cross my fingers for your non-preeclampsia-ness and say here here to kids running you ragged!
Chichi is up every hour or so just about every night now (did i mention that already?) anyways, it kinda hit me today that hes really not going to start sleeping thru until he's weaned or i just stop feeding him at night which has just opened a mega can of worms for me.
can i just vent my thoughts and you can choose to read them or not ;)
1) i dont think hes ready to stop night feeds as he doesnt eat enough during the day
2) i am at a bit of a loss what to feed him during the day since he doesnt really want pureed stuff but doesnt get enough of solid stuff in and keep it in
3) if he's weaned then thats it....no more babies for me..... :(
making me a little sad...and i think im hormonal.....but still sad :(
My question about ann is that i am really hoping she doesnt have/get pnd....i hope shes enjoying it as much as she can..what a trooper!!

Girls who don't know... we've been back in hospital with Matilda. She had a temp on Sat and a sore neck so I took her to the hospital (now I'm going to be a bit paranoid about meningitis for a while!) and then after 30 minutes there she was great, no temp, nothing so they sent us home. On Sunday morning she had a febrile convulsion at home and I brought her back to the hospital. She came good, but they tested her wee & bloods and she had a raging UTI. Her bloods were a mess as well so we were admitted for IV antibiotics. She went really badly for 48 hours or so but then came good. I had a few teary moments then.... Then they did an ultrasound. They found she had two ureters coming from her left kidney and going into her bladder. They didn't explain it much but that we would have to come back for a nuclear scan and then see a urologist to decide what happens next. So as we were leaving the hospital with a huge "unknown" hanging over us, they called us back (we didn't even get to the end of the ward!). We went down for a nuclear scan and that was traumatic... but we got it over and done (she was so brave.... so brave). And found that her left kidney doesn't function as well as her right. So that was the information we left hospital with.
I got a call today from one of the paediatricians looking after her (who is also a urologist in South Africa but not registered in Australia) who said that the nuclear scan was okay, it didn't indicate that we needed to do surgery at the moment. He said we would want to monitor it over time but that we would review with him in a few weeks time after he discussed Matilda with the specialist paediatric urologist at Sydney Children's Hospital and he could give us a plan then.
So scary scary times for us, good that we are home now. Good that we went to the right place for her.

Taralee have you tried doing a big late feed before bed and using settling techniques for the night waking...its hard at first but if it means you get some sleep then it will be worth it
I sprayed our room with No Vac Carpet Deodoriser last night about two hours before bed and totally stunk the room out, it dries in 5 minutes but the smell has just lingered....we had to sleep in spare bedroom and today the house still stinks of floral ****e..arghhh it really got up my nose and I hope its not harmful in pregnancy........
Im starting to think the old lady poodle smell was better

yes! that no vac stuff is good but i tell ya! it stunk out our lounge room for days!!! i used it after the kids went to bed thinking it would be fine for chichi to crawl on in the morning and the smell lasted strongly for quite a few days, still get whiffs of it now - 3 weeks later!!

bilby was so naughty today, i think she must b getting better (8th day of her cold), but i'm still all flemmy and keeping tissue companies in business (and lemsip, and benadryl etc).

Gigi - we're fighting the cold front too. chino hasnt slept properly in weeks, soo snotty and wont take anything to help it. the best i can give him is panadol suppositories and theyre so limited in what they do ;(

Tara have you tried the Fess sensitive spray, not the drops. I found the drops impossible to use on a baby but my chemist gave me spray that was suitable for infants.
TOUCH WOOD JAke has been pretty good since he has been on his iron supplement. Fingers crossed our winter will only be the ubiquitous cough we seem to always get and not fraught with snot lol. Just jinxed myself I think lol.
We are not immune from colds in the tropics either..Wyatt has been sick for a few days. Yesterday me, DH and Zander got the flu vaccine and this morning Zander has Wyatts cold and prob some side effects from the flu vax. Im fine just a sore arm. Wyatt cant get the vax because he has food allergies.
I had the 2007 flu when pregnant with Wyatt and thought I was going to die and was bedridden for 4 days so this year Im not risking it. Apparently the young/old/sick and pregnant should be vaccinated against the flu...wish I had known this 2 years ago.
Nicola, would you believe it? i actually DID have the flu vax only a month ago! and still got this rotten cold/flu whatever the heck it has been/is still a bit.

is it normal for a 2.5yo to have 8 hours btwn toilet trips? bilby went about 9.30am then next time was 6.30pm! she was not in pain/ seems a really really long time inbtwn loo trips to me.

Gigi the flu vax doesnt stop you getting the flu but it lessens the severity of the symptoms..this years vax has the Brisbane 2007 strain in it H1N1 and a couple of others that I cant remember off hand. The boys are getting better and it was just a bit of snot and not much else.
I had the day from hell yesterday and thought I was going to crack..DH was working longer than usual and the boys were grumpy and sick and Zander decided to tantrum most of the day, I know he wasnt feeling great but it was over the top and I actually felt like hurting him at one point which really scared me. So I ended up in the bedroom crying while the boys were watching TV wondering how the hell Im going to cope once there is a baby here in 16wks!!! and we have no help at all around.
So after talking to mum and calming down I decided that Zander needs to go to daycare at least once a week again..for the stimulation (he gets bored) and to give me a break, he doesnt have day sleeps anymore and Wyatt can sleep for 2-3hrs during the day if Zander doesnt wake him up.
So thats my drama anyway...looking forward to a happier day today :)
the daycare plan sounds good, esp with a nb. Doing it now, will get him settled in, before baby arrives too.
Would you consider TWO days for him?
i also have no help, nearby or otherwise. Childcare is my saviour i think. replaces in some way, the family we don't have.

I will see how the one day a week goes first and then up it to two days if he is settling in ok..it is $65 a day and Im not sure how much we will have to pay and we are not entitled to the 50% rebate because I dont meet the work/study/training requirement
Hi all. I'm ok. busy trying to keep my head above water. Things with DH are on the improve - well for him at least anyway. He has started taking meds for the ADHD, and a mood stabilser which seems to be working. unfortunately that doesnt instantly mend the wide gaping hole in our relationship - thats a work in progress. I have been extremely cranky for the last few days, and AF arrived this afternoon so that explains some of it. DH went to the chemist this afternoon, and came home with a huge bunch of flowers. That is HUGE because he doesnt buy flowers. so it was nice to be on the receiving end of a random act of kindness for a change. I am way behind with uni so have been busy trying to catch up....
Aston is growing up so quick, and I feel a little sad about it. He isn't my baby anymore, and tells me that - "i'm a big boy!" We are going to start toilet training avidly this weekend. He has been doing wees on the potty before he has a bath for a while now, and goes on the toilet at daycare, and has started telling me straight away when he has done a poo. now that things are a little more even keel at home we will attempt it anyway. He still has a dummy - but only for sleep time. Have been talking about giving it to the fairies for them to take for the little babies but he doesnt like that idea... oh well. not going to push it.
Laura and Nathan are good. Laura is nearly as tall as me, and is such a young woman now. She has settled into highschool, and has turned into a typical teenager. Nathan has been selected to play rep soccer, so we have training twice a week. once for normal soccer, and once for rep. I'm very proud of him.

How is everyone? Seems I'm not the only one who is quiet in here these days.
How is everyone's 2 year olds going? Aston is both delightful, and at times trying. But for the most part delightful. He is showing so many of signs of independance. makes my heart ache that my baby boy is growing up. He is talking so much. in fact he never shuts up. Has something to say about everything. and likes testing boundaries. Its funny, I've noticed that when its us, his family, he chatters away. Put someone else into the mix, and he becomes an observer. Must be his personality.
He has a best mate at day care, that he talks about all the time. Callum, his little friend, is the son of Laura's old horse riding instructor. Its nice because she's an older mum like me, and we get on fabulously.
Things in my house are a work in progress. Things are settling down, more or less, with less fires having to be put out. DH is still in alot of pain with his back, and is waiting to have RF lesioning done, which is where they burn the nerves that are giving him pain. Once he has this done, he will need to wean of the pain killers, and then should be able to return to work in a suitable duties program. He will be having a vocational assessment done sometime over the next few weeks, so that his employer can determine where is the best place to put him, and what training he needs to have done. He is starting to see it as an opportunity now, and not the end of the world. Thank god. I hate not having anytime to myself. and I am having to exercise a lot of tolerance, and anger managment not to yell at him to LEAVE ME ALONE. Makes studying hard when he is around.

wow, i'm a touch green that you have a talking toddler! all i hear, all the time, VERY LOUDLY, is "daddy star, mummy star, bubby star" - stars and moons are hot topics. she says the words she CAN say, over and over, very loudly. Obviously dying to communicate, high comprehension, but very few words.
i got a speeding fine today, at a stage when bilby was making a super loud super irritating noise in her seat, we were 2mins from home, and i was so irritated by the noise, i would have walked over hot coals, just for her to SHUT UP. and then i get waved over by cop, having taken my eyes off the speedo and done 64 in a 50zone. $204 thank you very much. he asked me why i was speeding and i explained. so he gave me a 204 fine, instead of the $300 fine. i had forgotten speeding fines were so much, last one i had was in 2001.
bilby used to be such a good passenger. now she grizzles the whole ride home from childcare. wants my attention the whole time. i do give her a book, a water bottle and a snack, when we leave CC. don't know what else i could be doing.
i'm so relieved for you Vicky, that things are starting to move in the right direction, with your dh. obviously going to be a long road.
i remember missing "my space" when dh was home on compo too. i couldn't wait for him to go back to work!

Aston has started asking "why?" to lots of things. I'm astounded as I'm sure it shouldnt be starting to do this for at least another 12months. Makes for lots of interesting conversation that's for sure. This morning he wanted honey on his weetbixs and he announces to me "bees make honey" and then as we are driving to day care, he says to me "be careful mummy" I had to swerve to miss the pot holes on the driveway! Me thinks this little munchkin is too smart for his own good!

Gigi - i dont know whether he is advanced.. I just think its from having two much older siblings.
As for my painting... sigh, havnet painted for ages. Its on my list of things to do once I have completed these last two assignments for this term. Then I don't go back to uni until mid july. I'm doing Secondary teaching.
I am planning to go to movie world with Laura for the day, and do some other things with the kids in the next month. lots and lots of FUN stuff!!
