We are same old here....Zander has started daycare once a week on Wednesdays..he cries when I leave but is apparently good after a few minutes..he doesnt wear a nappy anymore during the day, he just needs to be taken to the toilet every hour or so..he will voluntarily go when he needs to do a "brown one" but hasnt mastered the "yellow one" and sometimes has a few accidents.
Wyatt still sleeps 2-3 hours a day so Wednesdays are my day to relax completely for that time, as DH works 6 days a week and sundays we try and do things as a family.
Im having another ultrasound in 2 weeks to confirm gender...before I buy some baby things. The ultrasound is being done through a mobile company called "a window to your womb" and they do a 3d/4d scan at your home and you get a dvd etc

AFU were doing well, sophie is toilet trained both day and night! :o only had one accident during the day and that was 2 weeks ago and has been dry the past 6 nights :o still shocked about that one!!! she talks heaps! torments her sister!! loving my girls!!
wow you girls that have mastered TT my hats off to you! We are still at the stage where he will go to the potty before the bath, and when he is at daycare he will go there as well. This weekend I will go the undie route again and see how we go. We did it last weekend, and he did a poo in his pants and was most distressed about it, asking to put a nappy back on. Oh well, not going to stress about it - it will happen.
me - stressed to the hilt, and feeling pulled in every which direction. the kids and DH and myself have been sick since last Friday... Aston, then DH, then Me, then Nathan, now laura... sigh. I was in bed for two and half days. Thankfully laura stayed home to help out, becausee DH's back is still well and truely ****ed. feeling a tad over everything these days.

sophie took 3 months to train, 3 months of peeing on my carpet, taking to the loo etc.. but it finally sunk in afew weeks back, she takes herself off to the loo for both wees and poos, i need to wipe :sick: doesnt need the special seat or a stool anymore just climbs up!!

i have a tt-d child, but you have talking toddlers! (and some of you have both!) adn AJP has a little giraffe! that's so amazing she doesn't need a step to get herself on the toilet! bilby has a BIG step, and her legs DANGLE from the toilet seat (with insert in it).
my friend trained her 22 month old boy in three days, she bought an ebook online, called "3 day potty training", wasn't very expensive. she followed what the book said, got online coaching from teh author during the "boot camp", and it worked for them. it relies on you staying home for three consectutive days, and your child wears nothing from waist down. it's a strict routine, that's why my friend refers to it as "boot camp". they have polished floorboards, adn rolled up their carpet mats, for those three days. I found out about this, after bilby trained, but i doubt it would suit us (with white rental carpet to consider).

Something's going on with Chi and i dont know what. im taking him to the dr tomorrow, but i havent been on here for a few days cos i've been silly and worrying myself. he just keeps throwing up...wont take solids. he weaned himself totally off me and over a couple of days will ONLY take me for a feed. wont touch solids now, is gagging all the time. vomits hours and hours after a breastfeed....*shrug* i dont know. has just started SCREAMING at bath time,as soon as i sit him in the water. its never been a problem before...
im just upset about it

Taralee that sounds horrible, hopefully your GP has an answer or you may need to see a paediatrician, we had too just to get answers. Wyatt has milk protein allergy and he was allergic even to my breastmilk and would throw up after feeds and didnt put on weight for awhile...he also took longer to get into solids..we didnt know about the milk allergy till he was about 9mnths old.
Me and the boys flew down to Brisbane on Saturday..to have a break and DH was working all weekend so I decided that we would stay with my parents for the week. Anyway Monday evening Zander woke up crying and breathing funny so we ended up at Redcliffe hospital emergency where I waited for 4 hours with a crying upset Zander..when we finally got seen after a few hours they decided to admit Zander to the childrens ward where we spent last night..he had xray, ultrasound, a canula for blood tests and fluid and morphine..and the outcome was a random viral infection...he seems fine today just grumpy and a bit tired but Im exhausted and wonder whether my idea to come away for a break was worth it.
Nicola we spent 6hrs at the redcliffe hospital last night too!!!!
hope he is feeling better - would offer to catch up but we are in quarantine still :(

Yes it would be good to catch up but its hard when everyine is sick and there seems to be so much going around at the moment..and being pregnant Im trying to avoid what I can. I carry hand sanitiser around and try to limit where we go but its hard because I dont like being confined inside all day.
Zander is still grumpy and Wyatt seems to be constantly whinging...they are both very trying at the moment and I dont really want to go home and be on my own all day again...but thats life I guess and I need to harden up and realise its only going to amplify with a new baby around....Its times like these you have to summons up some internal strength

yowza! anyways, xrays came back and said 'severe faecal loading of the colon' which essentially is sever constipation. he does a poo everyday so i obviously didnt suspect that. but everything else seems to fit with lactose intolerance. none of all thisstarted until i tried cows milk, and since taking him off it he has got better and better...ill see what the test results say

Nicola - bilby's late afternoon whining esp, really grates on my nerves, i sympathise, but don't know what's it like, with more than one child.
Taralee - i am so relieved for you, that you have an answer for why Chino has been so unwell. I suspose that means learning how to feed a child, without using products with cow's milk in them? sounds tricky, but i suppose if it's what your child needs, you'd have a high motivation to do it.
Are there degrees of lactose intolerance?
LIke can some kids handle products with cow's milk in it (like cheese), but just not straight milk?
bilby is sleeping SLIGHTLY more, now that i have an electric blanket on her bed (on 3 to warm it up, then on 1, when she gets in). She is finally sleeping with SOME of the quilt over her.
i had a massage today, was given a massage voucher TWO XMASES AGO by a dear friend, and today is the first time i felt i could actually go and have it (childcare day from 9 - 3). It was very nice but my feet and hands felt like ice during it, my circulation must be bad. Then i walked around the Central Market, windowshopped at beautiful shoes, bought kangaroo sausages, goats milk soap (10 for $12), propolis toothpaste, got bilby a small rainbow coloured mobile and had a lovely Singapore laksa, and got organic hot chocolate powder for a friend. things i normally don't get to buy/do where i live. before bilby, i went to the central market frequently, even weekly sometimes (that was the time of the almond croissant addiction!!). was nice to indulge, for three hours.

Yes there are different levels of lactose/milk protein intolerance eg. Wyatt can eat cheese and yoghurt but not drink normal cows milk or flavoured milk or eat certain foods like corn chips or some chocolate without coming out in a rash and hives..so its trial and error
We are home now and its good to be back in the warmer weather but Zander has been tantruming and Wyatt had a high temp last night 39.5 and funny breathing noises so there must be still something hanging around..x fingers Im yet to come down with anything...I have been keeping up with my vitamins and glad I had the flu shot.
Hmm so, yesterday there were some people out the front of our house and evie asked them why they were there. turns out they were looking at the house across the street thats for sale. we told them we were thinking of putting our house on the market too and they said oh maybe we could look at yours as you have better land/flatter/more space etc. so we said ok. they came in 10 this morning rang back at 5 offering us what we wanted!!!!!!!! wow!!!!! sold!!!! now i am freaking!!!! we need to be out in a month and dont have a house to go to!!

Chino's 1000000000 times better since i stopped the cows milk - Nicola its interesting you said Wyatt can have yogurt and cheese cos Chino can too so i thought maybe it wasnt milk products if he could have those. Evie was "helping" yesterday and gave him a drink of her milk and within 2 minutes he vomited everything up again.
Hes on a pretty hardcore laxative at the moment to help his belly and i think its working lol i didnt think he was constipated to begin with so what do i know?!?! lol
should get his test results back today or tomorrow, so hopefully then we'll have a bit more of an idea. AND hes got 3 teeth coming thru...poor lil noodle!!

tara sounds like lactose intolerance, yougurt and hard chesse dont have anywhere near the amount of lactose that milk has!!!

Taralee we have just started trying Wyatt on UHT milk on advice from the paediatrician...after I mentioned that he could eat cheese and yoghurt he suggested we try the UHT because its treated similar to yoghurt and cheese, he is nearly 18mnths and I have only given him small amounts on his weetbix and so far so good....he still has Neocate Formula as a milk drink before bed
ok so the UHT milk thing isnt working for us..although Wyatt doesnt get a rash or hives from it he hasnt been sleeping, crying and squirming when he is in bed...he is a tummy sleeper and has been since birth...I know this is a not a good thing (SIDS) but that is seriously the only way he has ever slept....anyway he cant sleep on his tummy just cries etc and we didnt know what was wrong until I thought about all his symptoms and realised that was how he was last year until we knew about his milk allergy. So its back to Neocate on the weetbix.
I was wondering does anyone elses 2 year old count numbers??? Zander can count to 9 he hasnt got the 10 thing, and he can only say ABC with letters..I think thats down to the overuse of the ABC network in our house lol. I admit I dont really read to him, as much as I should rather he looks at books himself...maybe he would be better with letters if I did??
Nicola Jake was off dairy until just recently and we were using soy milk and soy yoghurt. After he was in hospital he was on Zymil which is a low lactose milk and seemed to cope ok with it, when we got home he started using soy yoghurt and I found that this now upset his tummy. Some kids with lactose intolerance also have soy intolerance but he had never before. Anyway to cut a long story short we then started using lactose free yoghurt and milk and this past month he has been having proper milk and yoghurt and is fine. He doesn't eat cheese so can't tell you about that bit.

The paed told us that Wyatt would prob be allergic to soy and goats milk aswell...although we have given him soy yoghurt and never tried goat. He has tolerated small amounts of normal cheese and yoghurt thats why the paed suggested the UHT..but he has never had alot of cheese and yoghurt over consecutive days. He had Neocate on his weetbix this morning so hopefully the UHT that is in his system will be gone by tonight!!!! Last night he didnt sleep for more than 2 hours. My belly is preventing me from leaning over the cot and holding him for more than 2mins at a time (Im also having bad acid reflux at the mo and lived on Tums yesterday) so DH did the nightshift last night while moaning and swearing to himself as he had to get up at 5am this morning for work.......such is life.
Wyatt doesnt actually like cheese that much anyway so Im not offering that or yoghurt again and will just try to do an elimination diet again..he was doing well until the UHT. We have another appointment at the hospital in 2 weeks so I will be going over all of this again and making sure have we enough prescription of Neocate for at least another 6mnths. They say that if you can avoid giving them milk for 2 years they have an 80% chance of outgrowing the allergy.

Sorry ive been so absent - packing packing packing. and weve decided to rent in willow vale (about 30mins south of brisbane) til we decide what we want to do.
Chino and allergy thing is still up in the air, had to take another poo sample (mmm) so that got sent off yesterday. The killer thing is that he is so so ready to wean but because i cant give him any dairy he's still on breastmilk but he just wants to suck all night so he sleeps in our bed sucking :( altho i dont really mean to complain - i do love his company.
so hopefully some answers on that soon!
Evie has started coming back to our room at night again but its hard to tell her to sleep in her own bed when chi's in our bed...but at least she'll sleep on her foldout couch on the floor and im fine with that.
Nicola - evie says ABC all the time too lol and we have abc on all day lol so much that she knows that 'abc' music bit means a new show is coming on and she'll run to see whats next lol oops!
so, moving in the next week...i wish we could sit still for a while!!

thats it nelly, ive just resigned myself to the fact that she likes being near us and i should just enjoy it while i can!! she usually comes into our bed and has a cuddle then when she's asleep i just say 'pop down onto your little couch so you dony get squashed princess' and she goes 'ok mama' lol and does...all in her sleep lol
How's this for a heartbreaker; i was putting evie to bed tonight and i gave her a big hug and said 'oh i love u so so much' and she said 'i wont leave you mama. i wont go driving without you' awww i had tears!!
Zander generally stays in his bed but he can just get up in the night or early in the morning and comes to "mums bed" I let him stay for a little while until its too uncomfortable and then I say back to Zanders bed. The boys are in the same room and tolerate it really well..often one sleeps while the other wakes and it keeps them company. Going to bed has been the problem at the moment..Zander will keep coming out of the bedroom or lay in bed yelling out wanting a drink or nursery rhyme.
The boys are constantly trying to climb on the bed on me and my belly....very uncomfortable and Im just not sleeping very well anymore...9 and a bit weeks to go!!!

Chino had ANOTHER dr appt today, so they've ruled out lactose intolerance and im off to see a paediatrician *sigh*. I desperately need to wean him and i cant cos there's nothing he can have yet!! ive just noticed he gets a rash on his chin like little red pimples if he eats cheese or cream cheese. and he's still have chucks after a breastfeed....but if i dont breastfeed him then he's getting NO milk at all and if i give him cows milk then he vomits up everything and im not meant to try him on anything new yet because we're trying to work it all out!!
im very very frustrated!! and tired...since he'll only sleep in our bed..then evie wants to come in so i get, seriously a space of about 30cm to lay in :( i didnt sign up for this!!!!!

Nicola, how frustrating to have two kids climbing on your preg. belly, such a hard concept to get thru "I need you to stay OFF" etc. to little people.
bilby is getting re-assessed by the speech therapist tomorrow, she mimes so much, gets what she wants, but i feel like i'm talking to myself most of the time, mainly one sided convos, she can't say her name, can't say much at all really. but with the miming, i can tell the comprehension is really good.
i am dreading her turning three. it will force me to think about
- three years of her not being affectionate
- three years of her not talking to me
when i want both those things so bad, and TRY to be patient about them not happening, but a milestone, like a birthday, will bring it to the fore (even though i know rationally, it's silly of me, and very negative and will not bring about change.
and another thing it will remind me, still haven't had ANY professional photos taken of her. SHe's too old now (and too toilet trained) to have photos taken of her in her cute nappies too. i really would have liked that and regret not doing it (earlier).
but last week, she did JUMP for the first time, i'm so proud of her for doing that.
We have changed tactics on the "not eating her dinner" thing.
instead of letting her eat alternatives (thinking, at least she's eating)
she is now offered a small portion of what we eat
is told consistently, you need to have some of this
if you don't, no toys in bath, no stories and songs in the bed
if you get up later saying "more eat", the same meal will be offered to you
as soon as you eat some of your dinner, all those privileges will return.
we have stuck to it for two nights.
(after finding out she has been eating cooked meals at childcare)

i had started to realise lately, i may not have a kid who throws a tanty at the supermarket checkout (for lollies etc) but she was giving the equivalent of those tanties EVERY NIGHT at the dinner table.
Finished the 10 week course on parenting toddlers called "the incredible years" on Monday. Hope i can remember some of the strategies we learnt.

Gigi well done on doing a parenting course....I wish I had the time and energy to deal with something like that. We have had issues with food mainly dinner time Zander wont eat something if he doesnt like the look of it..so basically he goes to bed hungry if he doesnt want it..I used to make him something else but have since thought better of it as that isnt teaching him anything good.
Wyatt is a good eater so far, but he doesnt talk yet he was 18mnths old last week and the only clear word he says is "No" so Im not sure what is going on as Zander was saying words and sounds by now. He uses a dummy still and I know that can delay speech development but he is addicted to it!!! and its easier for me...bad mum :redface:.
Anyways lately I have felt that Im over being a mum...thats sounds bad but its just feelings I have had coz Im tired and just want to rest all day...arghhh 3 under 3 is going to be a testing phase for me..but I have heard it gets easier
had a speech assessment yesterday, i will be on tenterhooks for the next two weeks, waiting to hear the results.
major newsflash, my fussy eater, who exists on snacks and purees, for the FIRST time, last night, ate a small portion of scrambled eggs LOVED IT, and a small portion of a cous cous chicken/veg thingy i made. only had a dummy spit when she hit one small cube of chicken meat. Hoping we have turned a corner with this nightly battle.
Nicola, the only reason i did the parenting course, was that it had a creche attached, so bilby can go in there for the duration of the course (two hours) - and only having one child, i'm sure that makes it more do-able.
3 under 3, wow, i am so impressed.
i think, as clucky as i feel, with my limitations and lack of family support, i am prolly the kind of person who should (if i had more than one) have them spaced, like four years apart or even five - which is not good maths, when you start as late as i did.
Being pregnant made me incredibly tired, i cannot imagine getting all the nana naps i needed, with a toddler around. and doing that with sciatica etc! just cannot get my head around that. So i am in huge admiration of mums like you Nicola, who just "get on with it".
Thanks for your positive words Gigi..I wanted my kids being close together but I dont think you realise how hard its going to be until you are doing it (I guess if I had sat down and thought about it long enough I might never have got pregnant again lol) ..and being pregnant with 2 toddler boys can be insane sometimes...its kinda like having twins except they are at different milestones.
