ggrr...another bad morning nap time! i dont know why i keep getting so upset about it! why do they let themselves cry so much and not be comforted to sleep?! then when she is asleep i look at her little angel face and i cant believe its the same baby :(
I think they put those bumpers in display cots to look good, especially when you look in babies galore or something and they have 'rooms' all decked out with one theme or whatever, it looks cute (until you see the $ tag!). i think best to err on the side of caution - if she bumps her head on the bars she'll go back to sleep and wont really be hurt - better than the alternative of risking it with bumpers
-
Been MIA for a while catching up with friends. Good to get out of the house and into the airconditioned comfort of cafes.
Big hugs to mums facing crying babies. Ella was unsettled just before turning 4months but she got back into the rhythm of things after her shots. Now we have teething....
We went to my MIL and she cried and screamed like she was 6 weeks old again. My MIL took her and went outside to rock her and of course she screamed louder because she was tired and was out in the bright hot sun. We popped some Bonjela on her little tooth buds (you can see them just under the skin) and she went off to sleep for 20mins.
Since then she's had one big cry a day and is so frustrated with her teething toys. I put them in the fridge which she likes but once they warm up she doesnt like them.
Congrats to chelsea! You go girl!
Ella's not interested in rolling over. She wants to sit up all the time. So she's in the swing and on the sofa with me next to her. (perfect for reading time)
Ann
-
Evie just started pulling herself up to sit now....what happened to my little newborn blob?!? it's like a new thing everyday and i keep forgetting to write everything in her baby book! i might start carrying a dictaphone around!
-
oh my i cant seem to keep up in here!!! hope everyone is well!!
-
LOL there was a big day & I think I missed a whole page!! ah well...
Jovie has been doing stomach crunches too pull herself up when she's on an incline, its scary because she looses control & flops to the side. She's rolling but not heaps... can't be bothered really ;)
Sleep is still a struggle during the day... I need to get out my wonder weeks book which I lost and let you all know where we are at. Its pretty amazing when you read it & it helps me realise that what she's doing is normal for her week.
-
YAY! Had a good afternoon, night and morning today getting Evie off to sleep. I kept her up for 2 hours instead of the normal 1.5 and i think it was enough to make her too sleepy enough to whinge! you just love them that little bit more when they go to sleep happily!
-
CHRISTY - there IS a wonder weeks book? tell me more? can i bribe you with a chocolate baby bilby??? ha ha
would be interested to know the details of that book so i could look it up at the library.
Four month immunisations today, poor darlin screamed the place down and this time, booby juice was not the panacea.
Tomorrow afternoon i find out whether the mechanic things The Car i FOund to Buy is a lemon or a definite. Fingers crossed, then i'll be MOBILE AGAIN - YEH!!!! Playgroups here we come ha ha
-
Gigi Here is some info Kelly put up about it. I have found it to be such a gift to my frazzled mind.
-
ARgh had the worst arvo with Jovie. She woke up from a nap at around 12.30pm and we came home from our friends house and Matilda went to bed, great... Jovie showed tired signs so I took her to bed and breastfed her. At 2pm Matilda woke up & Jovie started screaming, I breastfed her again... at 3.30pm I was getting stressed & anxious & realised I forgot to take my antidepressant today and I popped both girls in the pram to walk to the shops to pick up infant panadol jic. At 4pm I fed her again & she still screamed heaps so after ummming & ahhhing I gave her some panadol. Tried to put her to sleep again but she just screamed & screamed. At 5.30pm I asked DH to get her a bottle because I was over it all and she took the bottle happily & been happy ever since :( ALL afternoon was spent trying to figure out what was going on with her. I fed her every hour and finally gave her a bottle & that was what she was screaming about
My daughter loves bottles, she screams through every single feed I give her off the breast. She loves whatever is in the bottle, be it goats milk or breastmilk or a new formula I just got from the GP for food intolerant babies. I'm over it tonight.... so sad and stressed from all the screaming today.
-
sorry you've had a bad day christy :hugs:
is it the flow that she's frustrated with? maybe she doesnt want to work hard on the breast and finds the bottle easier amd quicker as she doenst have to wait for a let down, sorry i'm probably not much help but i'm thinking of you.
-
Aw I can sympathise with you Christy and I'm sorry you had such a bad day :( . Perhaps Jovie noticed a difference in your milk today if you forgot to take your antidepressant? It's amazing how one little thing can make a huge difference to the taste and smell of the milk. One thing I have found too is how much my mood affects Evie, they really do feed off us (in more ways than one!) and their mood really can be swayed by our moods.
I think the best thing you can do is to have a shower and go to bed and when you wake up tell yourself it's a new day and start over. At the end of the day, just do whatever you have to to get through it.
-
I'm back...online at least. don't think I'm back mentally, emotionally, or physically yet. :(
this move has been the hardest I have ever done, even compared to moving interstate.
Completely and utterly shattered.
I have read through the last few days postings. Hugs to all of you. Mother hood is the hardest job in the world - full of the good, the bad and the ugly moments.
Will post personals tomorrow. just wanted to say hello.....
-
good to see you back miss vicky, i've missed you!!! sorry to move has been hard rest up dear and we'll see you in the morning
-
CHRISTY - our bubs were in sync today, Jaz cried, screamed, shrieked from 8.30am to 11pm tonight - my usual placating trick of b/f-ing didn't even work, and baby diahorrea many times over as well. It's just sooo draining, isn't it?
VICKY - i moved when five months preg, no removalists to lift the boxes, i did lots of lifting and my god that wrecked me and my back, i get anstsy just remmembring that time, so my heart goes out to you, i really do sympathise, it's so hard.
in a rush, dahm dh shuts off internet at 12.30 - i hate that when i'd rather talk to you all online!
-
Christy - so sorry to hear u didnt have a good day..hope tomorrow is a better day *hugs*
Vicky - WELCOME BACK!!! we got a house we will be moving on the weekend...not looking foward to the packing, i have tried to start but then i get distracted & say to myself i will do it later or tomorrow... but yeah never does!!

Taralee - dont they just look like angels when there asleep so innocent!! gld to hear Evie is going off to sleep abit easier
hope all is good with everyone....Emelia has been having a few bad days i cant remember the last time shes slept through..wakes a few times for her dummy think its cos she still is a bit sniffly & she will only sleep on her back so she gets all snuffly, but other than that all is well here..besides ive gotta pack, i just cant get motivated!!! wish i could wave a magic wand & it was all done!!!
-

Blanche-Thanks...i think Chelsea is a cutie too.....
Christy-Goodluck today hun.....i hope your day is much better
Gigi-I pray u dont have a lemon either!!
I think Chelsea is teething....runny poo, rosey cheeks, really wingey.....my health nurse says she is very close anyhow. We have 4 month needles on Tuesday :(
Today im off to my first OB appointment....more moeny to spend...yay!! haha
-
Kim - good luck at the ob. Can you see any white dots on Chelsea's gums? How is DH - all better I hope. I do not envy you moving - baby and pregnant! eh gad. I swear its going to take a couple of weeks for me to get over this move!
Blanche - goodluck with your move on the weekend. Have you got lots of people to help?
Hi Gigi - good to see you. whats the word on the car? I hope its a goer for you. I know how frustrated I felt being a one car family. It drove me up the wall. We have only had two cars since Januray this year, and it has made life a whole lot easier. How's your beautiful girl going?
How you doing AJP - you are very quiet. Been back to the mother's group at all? I have been back to the one I started - seems ok, there are quite a few mums that live out my way.
Christie - how's your day been so far today hun? Hugs darlin - I know how much you have wanted to BF, and you must been feeling pretty down at the moment...i hope it sorts itself out soon for you.
Hi everyone else...aston is going to town at the moment so I have to go. I will catch u all l8r!
-
Kim - yeah sounds the same as Emelia she has all the signs of teething.. im constantly changing poopey nappies!!! oh and the dribbling going through bibs like anything lol.. but no sign of teeth yet :s i just dont know?!
Vicky - thanks, yeah we have lots of ppl helping. DP gets to use his work truck to move so that will be good...just dreading the packing and unpacking!!!!
-
Hey there girls, today is going better. After only 2 hours of screaming I gave a bottle ;) and that was all it took. So I think the answer is before me, if I want less screaming, I can give the bottle. I am going to start expressing like mad so I can built up enough milk to get her mostly BM until she is 6 months. Thats what I'm hoping for at least... hopefully my milk won't dry up with her not feeding off me. But then again I can have as much to drink as I like now ;) and when I have pumped the last pump, I can then have as much chocolate & yoghurt as I like!!! Well... until my pants get too big ;)
-
-
Christy - Glad to hear you have a solution at hand and Jovie is happier today. Keep on pumpin'!
Vicky - Sorry to hear the move was so draining. At least its all behind you now.
Kim - Good luck with the needles tomorrow.
Ann
Blanche - Have Emelia's snuffles gone yet? You feel so helpless for them dont you when they can't blow their nose.
-
Christy - glad todays has been better...goodluck
Ann - i think her colds pretty much gone, just in the mornings after sleeping she is a bit sniffly, i got one of those nose suckers which was quite good, hoping she can still get her needles tomorrow..not sure if they can do them with a bit of a cold, will have to wait and see wat doc says!
how are u & ella doing?
-
Vicky i still go to mothers group which i like but didnt go back to the PND group, the 'group thing' is not for me!, feeling heaps better so hopefully things will continue from here. it's our 5th wedding anniversery today so were out for dinner tonight, i've told DH he's driving!!!! i've been taxi driver for the past 12 months so it's my term to have more than 1 drink.
Sophies great, such a little character talking and smiling heaps, its sooo nice, i love it!!
-
Happy Anniversary AJP - it was ours last Friday - but we haven't done anything yet - we were too busy moving! Fair enough about the "group" thing. you have to do what feels right for you. Have a lovely evening tonight. hopefully we will be able to celebrate ours - eventually!!
Glad Sophie is doing well...Aston is chatting lots too, and very close to rolling.
Have a good weekend
-
Happy anniversary AJP and Vicky - ours was last week too! You know how there's 9 months between March and November right?!?....:shhh:
I think I may have my baby back! She's sleeping again! Actually I found when I put her to sleep that she still likes to be held but she just wants to nuzzle into my chest instead - its a very awkward way to hold her but she doesnt cry so i cant complain!
Hope everyone's having a good day :)
-
Happy anniversary AJP
Well im off to take Emelia to docs at 11 for her 4 month needles im dreading it :s she screamed last time :( im going to cry this time i can see it, made my mum hold her last time..this time i have too, u would think id be over my fear of needles after my pregnancy but nope!! shes asleep as well so she aint gonna be happy when i have to wake her..sorry bout my whingeing !!
-
thanks guys!! DH has organised a surprise for me, very excited but a little scared, what if i dont like it lol...!! we dont normally do anything for our anniversary but we figured 5 years is a little milestone and it's a chance for us to have anight out.
goodluck with the needles today blanche!!
-
Hi girls - I am back.! Just trying to catch up on everyone - lots of reading!
Good news is that Northpark was great - TOTALLY different from tweddle, so much so that I stayed on a couple more days and would have actually liked to stay a bit longer to give myself some more rest time,Although I barely slept at all in there, it was still nice not to think about household dutes, cooking etc.
They had a no CC policy and were very accomodating to mother's wishes. They deal a lot with PND so I think they are extra gentle with both mums and bubs
Babies usually sleep in their own monitored room but was not an issue to have the cot in with me.
Logan was (amost unforunately) on his best behaviour and after the first 2 days sleeping very well, especially during the day, which had been my big issue.
Was out of my bed at night which probably bothered me more than him! Still taking a lot of getting up and down to resettle him but hopefully we will get there.
Big set back is that on the last night he came down with a cold so very unsettled all night and now we've had to come home with both him and now me unwell!
Praying it doesn't upset all the good work.
Kim - how is your DH? is he still in hospital?
Vicky - Glad the move is done. Really not looking forward at all to ours which will be happening in the next 4-6weeks. Are you feeling less stressed out yet?
Christy - How is Jovie doing with the bottles? WTG on keeping it up with BM - expressing is such a chore. I don't know how you find the time
Olivia - glad sleep school has helped you and Luke too. Where did ou go?
AJP - happy aniversary!! Hope you have a great night.
Sorry the group PND thing didn't work for you. I hope you can still talk to someone or at least vent in here.
Well, my poor little bubba is still asleep (almost 2hrs now). Slept well this morning too but was cranky when awake. Don't blame him as i feel very crappy with this cold, sore throat etc Better get some things done whilst I can
-
hey again everyone
Been to Sydney and back on a whirlwind trip with Luke, was great fun and we didnt miss out on seeing much of Sydney at all
Vicky: Glad the move is over with
Christy: hope all goes well with the expressing and yah to eating and drinking what you want
AJP: happy anniversary
Merideth: Sounds like it was a really good place for you, hope you arent sick for long if you both happen to get it
-
AJP- Happy Anniversay hun!! I hope you have a great night and you like ur surprise!!
DH is now ouit of hospital but his dr thinks all the drugs he was given whilst in there has now done a lot of damage to his spleen... so he had an u/s done today.
In 3 weeks Chelsea starts a new play group so im excited!!!!!
-
I think I may have spoke too soon...heart slowly breaking :(
-
WB Meredith - I'm so glad that you had some success with the place - that's fantastic. Before you know it Logan will be sleeping through the night. Aston's little stint of sleeping thru was just that - a little stint!:( Hopefully once we have been in this house for a bit he will start again. Oh wouldnt that be lovely.... He had a cold the weekend we moved, poor little man, and now has developed conjunctivitis (sp??) today.I have been putting breast milk in his eye, and bathing with salty water as per advice from my midwife friend. if it doesnt get better by Sunday I will take him to the Doctor. My advice to you re: moving is get all the help you can. put the super woman outfit AWAY and take all offered assistance. Just about bloody killed me. I hit the emotional wall on Wednesday, and spent most of the day crying. Are slowly starting to feel better, but I also think AF is on its way, so that probably had something to do with it.
LOL taralee - I know that Aston was conceived on our anniversary last year with out any doubt. Won't be happening again this year. I had a tubal ligation this time round. the shop is shut for this little black duck. I'm sorry to hear that your baby girl is unsettled darlin. Hang in there, each day is a new one, and hopefully better then the one before. hugs
Kim - glad DH is out of hospital - bugger about the complications though. I hope everything turns out ok for you both.
WB Belinda - glad Sydney was good - I wish I had been on holiday - anything would be better then the last two weeks I have had!! But I'm on the other side of it now and the only way is UP!
Blanche - I hope Emelia is ok with her needles. I am dreading going next week. I made DH hold aston last time, but he reckons he won't do it this time. I hate them, but know it is so necessary. I'm the same, after my pregnacy (GD with insulin injections) I should have gotten over my needle phobia, but no, hasn't happened!
Christy - my hat is off to you my dear - expressing is hard work. Today Aston refused to breast feed - fussing about for ages - screaming in fact - which is what makes me thinks AF is on its way (that and my very aching pelvis and back!) In the midst of it all I was considering weaning him - that's how friggin tired I am. But he calmed down, and finally took it. Maybe he figured screaming wasn't going to change the taste any!!
Ann - How are you and your oh so camera shy darling girl going?
Gigi - any news on the car?
Well after that mammoth post I'm off to bed. that Aston decides that tonight is the night to sleep all the way through and I will wake up a new person!!!
-
Vicky -Emelia went really well only cried when the needles went in (last time she wouldnt stop screaming) so i was very proud of her and me lol i didnt cry!!! btw im with u on the praying i so hope Emelia sleeps through the night i would wake the happiest mummy ever!!! hope Aston sleeps good for u..ill pray for us both:D
we start moving tomorrow :S cant wait till its all over
-
welcome back meredith!!! i've been thinking of you allweek love, wondering how things went, i'm glad all went well and they were helpful!!! so what have they suggested to you? what did you find the most beneficial? i bet your glad to be home though!!
BELINDA i'm very glad that you had a great week in Sydney!!
KIM oohhh you'll enjoy mothers group!! hows DH? how did the u/s go any news yet?
BLANCHIE got to hate those needles hey, sophie was better second time around as well, just think no more till 6 months, which for us is only 1 month away :(
TARA whats happening love?
CHRISTY how are things going today? hows Jovie going? how are YOU going?
VICKY did Aston sleep through? gee i really appreciate having sophie been a great sleeper, though i do go to bed every night thinking tonights the night she'll wake up!! lol
well we had a great night out for our anniversary, for those in melbourne we went up to skyhigh up Mt dandenong, very nice views, then it rained, thundered, lightening, wind, cleared up then more of the same!!! but when it wasnt raining the views are great, we had a window seat which was lovely. i had two glasses of wine and i tells ya i feel like it was two bottles!!!! OMG i feel **** this morning!!!! it was only TWO glasses how can i feel almost hungover!!!!!!! my surprise from DH was he had our marriage certificate framed along with some more of our wedding photos which was lovely of him!! hes such a good boy!! love him to bits.
well thats wnough from me for now, it's still raining which is music to my ears, sophie is back in bed, DH is still in bed and i'm in my PJ's. off to bake some cupcakes
-
AJP I'm so glad you had a lovely evening. Very impressed with your DH, he stepped right up and made it very special. Who looked after Sophie?
Aston didn't sleep thru waking 1.30ish and 4.30ish for a feed. but he did sleep in this morning so I was able to have special cuddles with Dh!!! lol. usually Aston wakes around 5.30-6 and then comes into bed with us, and HOGS the bed! so he may not have slept thru, but I'm a happy bunny because I got some attention for a change ;)
I guess I should go and get organised for the day - more unpacking for me. but I think I will make pancakes for breakfast first.
take care all
-
LOL we had pancakes for breakfast this morning!
Tara, hun are you okay?
AJP sounds wonderful, too bad about the hangover ;) I found that my first drink felt huge. My alcohol tolerance has decreased greatly since having children.
US.... well.... still pumping away ;) Jovie is taking the special formula very well & is still having 1 feed off me in the early morning when I am busting and then another if possible throughout the day. I express twice to try & get enough for 1 bottle at other times. So its not too much work, but its hard when its just me & the two girls. I definately slack off those days & pump heaps at night.
-
Hi Christy I have been meaning to say I love your new sig! The girls look gorgeous. Well done with the expressing, reach over and pat yourself on the back darlin.
Blanche - I meant to say thats wonderful that Emelia was such a good girl. fingers crossed ASton will be the same. not looking forward to it though.
-
Blanche - good luck with the moving. We're still house hunting and i dread the idea of moving and upsetting Ella's sleep.
Vicky - what a great mum you are! making pancakes for breakfast yummy...
We've been doing well here. Today was soooo hot and tomorrow's suppose to drop to 21 degrees. I can't wait! All this hot weather has given poor Ella heat rash around her tummy (as we still wrap her to sleep). But she's such a good girl and doesnt cry and sleeps well even though its hot. We just need to get rid of this RASH!
I've been busy doing a little video of our mother's group - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo5KWJFlmEo which i had lots of fun doing.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Ann
-
It's all okay, thanks for your concern everyone! Even though I think I have said this 100 times..I think I have Evie all worked out. SLeep times dont seem to be a problem anymore..cross fingers!
She is chomping down something chronic with those lil gums and her dribble is enough to solve the current drought crisis but still no lil toothy pegs - poor baby!
Anyways, she's gone to bed early tonight and i dont know what to do with myself! Whoa!
