Hello lovely girls :)

DB - Oh it really makes me upset, when people arent safe and they get preggo and they have no idea who the father is, i personally couldnt do it, i guess some women just to care and have respect for them selves, but it is really said...
Oh i really feel for Barnie, thats so sad on his behelf..
Welol regarding the cows milk allergy the doctor i seen (whom we wont name coz he was a di**head) said he cant have anything, but i think i would love to get other opinions, coz my lil man loves yogurt :) i did look on the net, but doesnt tell me what im looking for :(

Ok we have tried, banana and thats a no go, he gagged big time and screwed his face up, i also tried Mandrin and kiwifruit and there no going there either, i think my boy with be a veggie and pasta boy, i will try him on watermelon and that tomorrow, please keep fingers crossed :(

HOODY - with the cows milk allergy i seen the doctor at the hospital, when ryley was first born he would have really bad diarreha or really hard poos and would spew like no tomorrow and it was because of the normal formulas, then i put him onto soy and then we found out he had a bit of colic and really bad reflux, i remember when he was first born (well like 6 weeks old) i would sit there for hours and i mean hours trying to get him to burp, he was in so much pain that no matter what i did it wouldnt come up, like i hung him up side down, pressed into his belly, nothing work, he would be in so much pain, so i switched to Reflux formula and i havent had a problem since...

JUNE - yeah im not having much luck with the finger food, give him anything on a spoon and it will be gone, im learning at the moment, its all trial and error :) we have had a very busy and stressful could of years, but where r slowly gettn there...

Hey, is anyone shocked at the price of food, i did a food shop today and evrything is so expensive.. :( i did a small food shop an it cost me over $100.00 and i barely brought anything :( sorry thats my winge for today :(

Db- I cant believe how much Caden is doing my lil Molly is very slow!Not complaining but it just spins me out. By now my DD1 was crawling etc but none of that for Molly.

June- Lovely to hear from you again. I hope you are well.

Mel- I hear you on food shopping i spend about 220-250 weekly when last year my average was 150.

Very grumpy baby and toddler in my house today :( Thankfully both in bed for now but i wonder whos turn it will be to wake me up tonight. No news to tell- i'm a bit boring today.

Melz - food is definitely a worry. I duck in some times to do a top up shop and it ends up costing what a normal shop used to be. It is frustrating as my DH still thinks we should be spending $100 per week (like we did pre-GST) and is horrified when we end up spending $350 on a fairly small shop and still need a top up in between. We normally shop about once every three weeks, but still do a couple of top ups between, which just adds up. I bought a pumpkin also and it lasted about 2 days before I had to throw it out. I hate throwing expensive food out, but sometimes you just get enough time to cook it that night.

Hoody - All in good time on the mobility front. Caden was actually one of hte last in our mothers group to crawl, although he is the youngest. But once he crawled, it was like he reached a whole new level of mobility and is now even more mobile than the others. Like right now he is pushing the laundry basket around the room by walking it. Very cute.

June - LOL about being so proud of themselves. He just loves being upright! Yesterday we went to a first birthday, and these oldies asked how old Caden was and then commented on how strong his legs were and how well he was walking (with us holding onto him). I felt so proud of him, strangely enough. I mean, it is not as if I care if he didn't walk for ages, cos I know it is not a competition, but it was nice to have the cleverest baby for once IYKWIM.

As for us, doing well here. Had an awful night the night before last where Caden was up from 12 to 2 and crying. I think he had a sore tummy cos he did a monster poo the next morning. He seems to get a runny bottom when he is teething, and the bottom second two teeth have just started moving so I think it was a combo of discomfort. Luckily last night he got more sleep.

It is so hard to change nappies nowadays! I have to pin him down and he just cries. If it is not a pooey one I just let him stand and try and change it that way. AND putting him to bed is hard because unless he is really tired, he just stands up. Oh well, he is sitting in my lap at the moment and I really need to put him to bed.

Just a quickie from me today!

Had Molly's Baptism/Christening today and it was lovely. A very hectic day that started for me at 7.30am this morning (not to mention all the prep i did yesterday) and our last guest left at 8.30pm this evening from our afternoon tea party that started at 1.30pm :rolleyes: Needless to say we are all utterly exhausted. She was very good during the Mass and for the actual ceremony i was very proud of my girl. DD1 on the other hand cried through the ceremony and kept demanding "My Turn" :cryinglaugh: I have some beautiful pic as one of my friends from mothers gorup is an aspiring photographer and took literally 100 or so pics. I am a little upset that some ppl i really expected and wanted to attend did not :( The friendship has been strained for some time now but i really thought they'd be there for my princesses big day. I phoned and let them know about it and also posted an invite so the ball was in their court. Molly got some beautiful presents including a lovely Pandora bracelet that i am very jealous of. I have shown DH and put my order in for if he ever decides to suprise me with a present ;)

DB - hmm not looking forward to when Jacob can pull himself up. Nappy changes are an absolute nightmare at the the moment and he is still laying down. The only thing lately that has kept him in one place is if I give him a nappy to play with :)

Mummy Melz - totally agree about the grocery shop. I have been tracking our expenditures in a budget over the last few years and the increase has been crazy. Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do about it though.

Hmm, just realised I hadn't updated my and DH's ages sinces our birthdays. Probably should update Jacob's photo too.

Hoody, June - Love the new photos! They are getting so big aren't they?

Hoody - I am glad the christening went well. I found the most stressful part was the expectation that Caden would be grumpy, but as soon as it was over and he had proven himself to be a little star, then I relaxed. Bummer about your pals. Motherhood really seems to either bring you closer or alienate you from some people. We have friends that have a bub 2 months older than Caden, and TBH I can't get past the mummy wars and competition with her. Everything is about her boy, and if ever I mention something that Caden has done, oh well HER boy has been doing that since in-utero :rolleyes:. Sometimes friendships reach a natural end and you have to let it go. I have a great friend also and although I consider him one of my best friends, he didnt' come to our christening, nor my birthday, and he hasn't even met Caden yet. I guess in my heart he is still my friend, but in reality, he is a mere aquaintance. I hope you find peace in whatever the outcome is, whether you choose to let it slip by, or work harder to reconnect. :hug:

I don't think I had mentioned it before, but DHs dad hasn't even met Caden yet either. He lives only a couple of suburbs away! DH and his dad don't really speak to each other, but we did invite him over to meet his grandson after Christmas, to which he said as soon as he is free he will visit (that was January). We hummed and haaad about whether to invite him to Caden's Christening in May, and decided to, the invite was again declined, with his dad saying that he didn't want it to be a "sad" occasion. I mean, WTF? Since when did he EVER care about hurting anyones feelings? I mean, his bad behaviour and callous words lead to DH not talking to him in the first place. Now almost 9 months has gone by and he hasn't met his grandson. Not that CAden cares, but I really feel for DH. His brother has 3 kids and FIL makes a huge effort to catch up with them for Easter, Christmas etc :wall:. It is a bit of a slap in the face really, but personally I have written him off. I don't call him "dad" anymore, don't speak to him unless I really have to, and as far as Caden is concerned, he has one grandfather (my dad) and that's it. If FIL ever wants to see him, he has to wait until CAden asks to see him.

Ok, off my high horse now, just thought I would get that off my chest :redface:

DB- Yep friendship can be hard but i guess thats the way life is sometimes :shrug:.

Well Molly has Bronchiolitis yet again and isnt very well. She has been off since sat but i havent wanted to post it as it seems every post is about my kids been unwell. :( We went to Drs today and for now she is ok but if she gets worse will need to go back to hosy for oxygen. She is still teething madly but no teeth yet. Rolling more and more and keeps getting arms and legs stuck in her cot.

Hoody - sorry to hear about Molly :hug: It is ok that you post that in here, that's what we are for! I really feel for you, if its not one bub, its the other. Hopefully once winter is over, both Molly and Mia will get some lovely sunshine and recuperate from the winter nasties. Caden had the flu all June and it really knocked his socks off. DH had it too and was sick for a week. Luckily I only got the sniffles, but still, I can't imagine how much harder it is for you with actual bronchiolitis and asthma to deal with. I can't do much, but know that my thoughts are with you and sending "well" vibes your way :pray:

Hi, sorry i havent visit in awhile, i have a very sick household, DF and I have a cold and Ryley has a chest infection, so we are definietly making a profit for Kleenex... im sick of boogers :( haha

Hoody - im so glad the christening went well, im having Ryleys in December, so i guess ur the one to ask for advise :) oh thats horrible that Mollys sick, poor lil vegimite, i hate when there sick, but is she going ok tho??? thats so good u got photos, im a big photo fanatic, i love photos, at least when she is older, she;ll be able to see what a wonderful mum u were :) on the hole friends not turning up, it really upsets me that ppl can be so shallow and not turn up, think of it this way atleast everyone that loves and cares about ur little princess was there and thats all that matters??

DB- oh i feel for u with the hole DH's Dad not visitng Caden at all, i no how u feel, coz my DF's Parents have nothing really to do with Ryley, My DF's Sister had a baby 3 days after me, and she gets spoilt her mum and dad do everything for her, and her lil boy, we'll call "Bobby", gets everything, they buy him stuff all the time and Ryley has yet to see one present, DF's mum meet Ryley when he was 3 weeks old and then we seen her maybe 4 times after that and now it has been 4.5mnths since the last time she seen him, she never calls to see how her grandchild is, it breaks my heart that they have nothing to do with there Grandchild, but i have an awesome family and DF's family can get stuffeed... but i feel ur pain more since he hasnt seen him every, thats so bad, if u ever need to talk im hear, because im sorta going thru the same thing :( poor u :(

Melz- hey honey i missed you on msn earlier not having the best of days. Lots of personal issues at the min and to top it off my parents dog who we have had since i was 12 got put down today. My mum leaves for broome on thur and wont be back til mid sept so just generally feeling yuk. Sorry to hear about your IL's thats not very fair. I might not see eye to eye with mine all the time but i cant fault anyone in either of our families for the attention they give my girls.

Not much to say on my front havent left the house today as Molly is still off and weather has been horrendous. I have had visitors though i havent been much company i am in my own zone iykwim. Well take care all and will chat to you soon.

DB - So sorry about DH's dad. Its funny how some people turn out isn't it. Its hard not to take it personally and I am sure it must really hurt your DH. But as you said Caden doesn't care and thats good. By the way love the new photo. They have all changed so much haven't they.

Mummy Melz - sorry to hear you guys have all been sick. It certainly seems to be the time of year for it.

We might need to send a search party out for a few. Hoody hopefully you hear back from Limeslice and twinsis. We need to find willow, KRK and belinda too. I'm sure Suse has a lot on at the moment. Heather probably won't be on much over the next few weeks with her travels.

Not much to report here. Still lots of sliding backwards when he wants to go forwards, but thats about it

What a tiny group we are! Still, I don't begrudge it because you ladies are just lovely :hug: and it is so nice to be able to keep pace with what's going on.

June - sliding backwards, that's still funny :cryinglaugh: The poor lil things, you just wish they would get it don't you? Caden likes to walk, like I have said, and just doesn't get that he has to hang onto things. He can balance ok holding one of my hands, but really prefers to run his other hand along something else for balance. He is really getting the hang of it though and I don't think it will be long before he can just walk holding one of my hands. He coasts along around the furniture, but TBH he isn't very adventurous, and mainly sticks to the areas that he knows. This is a good thing for the time being as we live in a 3 story townhouse with a spiral staircase that he is yet to discover!

Hoody - I hope you get back into "normal" zone soon enough. Winter is a horrible time to feel isolated and sick. It is so cold and gloomy, and you can't just go for a walk to refresh yourself. As for the ILs, I think the most important thing is that they love their grandkids. I don't personally care whether they do it for me, or see me, etc. It is just that myself and DH both had really great grandparents, and I treasure that relationship with them (in fact, Caden's middle name Rome is after DHs grandma Roma, his father's mother). It is sad that whilst our ILs enjoyed having their children relate to their parents, we wont get the same thing :( and our kids will miss out on them.

Melz - sick of boogers! Thats funny too. When Caden had the flu I was forever wiping them. It was really funny when he sneazed and they all came flying out. Then he would rub his face and goo would go EVERYWHERE! :wall: Luckily it has cleared up. The baby balsam vicks stuff is good to help clear their nose, and apparently you rub it on their feet as well before putting socks on. This is a rumour anyways and it seemed to help. Hoping you all get better soon :hug:

Well, busy busy here. Have been doing some portraits on Ebay and selling them, so have made a few extra $ which just seems to be spent on food and petrol these days. Will be going back to work 1 day a week with a consultant friend I know, just to bring in some extra $ and stave off the boredom one day a week. I am going to an ABC childcare centre tomorrow to book in :( not looking forward to it but I know it has to be done, and I feel it would be better doing it gradually than 3 days all at once, both for Caden and myself. I am also finishing a unit STILL at uni, so hopefully that will be over soon and then I can get on with the rest of my degree :rolleyes:.

Feeling 100% better today, but still sick :( Oh My God, went and did a layby today on xmas pressies at Kmart, Oh my god, i spend $350.00 on pressies just 4 nieces and nephews, (we have 5 nephews and 2 nieces), oh and my lil bro and Sis, so 9 kids, and look at how much i spent, i cant believe how expensive everything is these days, and i still have so much family today and im doing it on a budget,bloody ridiculous, well

Well my Smyley Ryley, is growing up so quick, i dont think it will be too much longer and he will be crawling around, he commando crawls everywhere :) such a cheeky little boy at the moment, i think it is amazing that everyday they are doing something new..

Melz- Im hearing you on Xmas shopping i have 5 nieces and nephews to buy for plus my friends 2 boys and my own kids it gets very expensive. I have already got my girls a trampoline (its sat in my bedroom haha) so at least they are half done i too have a big Kmart layby and prob a target one too when the toy sale starts. :rolleyes: The baby vicks is good stuff i use it lots and the wifes tale about putting it on their feet to stop them coughing seems to work for us. I even do it myself when i am unwell.

DB- Well done on selling stuff on ebay. Do you paint? GL with going to the daycare i hope they make you feel at ease. I have been offered a job with a friend starting in 2 weeks for just 2 days a week. As much as i want to work i dont know if i am willing to put my girls in care they are sick enough without been around other kids all the time. Also having 2 in care will cost me about $80 a day so i have to weigh up if its worth it. Oh i love the pic by the way.

June- at least you have movement :cryinglaugh: Molly doesnt even roll very much. Oh well in her own good time. I havent heard from limeslice and didnt get around to PMing twin sis. Maybe they will pop in soon or i guess its just us 4 for now.

Ok i'm still in a bit of a zone but feeling a bit brighter today. My sis had my girls for an hour here for me today so i could do some food shopping. Apart from the bill at the end i actually enjoyed it. I came home to a trashed house as my sis has 3 kids but it was worth my hours peace. Molly seems a little better today which is good and DD1 is well so i'm hoping in a day or two we will be a healthy household again. DH knows i am a bit down so has been lovely the last couple of day (well he is always lovely but he has been very considerate) Ok well i've rambled enough today.

Just a quickie - gotta go eat dinner and do some study for a uni test I have tomorrow.

The ABC was really great, the ladies are lovely and it has a nice atmosphere. A little boy who apparently doesnt like strangers came over to play with us, so that was a nice ego boost! I think CAden has alpha male vibes already.

He is SO active, I can't believe he is 9 months old!! :cryinglaugh: My baby boy is getting so big. Almost 10 kilos and walking so fast now, he even pushes the laundry basket around. Not too long I think before he will get the hang of going solo, but like you say Hoody, all in good time!

DB - Thats good to here about ABC Daycare, ABC are one of the best, my twin bro and Sis went they for 3 years and they loved it, and the good thing there is all the girls are qualified, unlike sum daycares where there not :) Cant believe ur bubba is walking at 9 moths, u must definietly have ur hands full... well Ryley is in his walker and goes like a bull at the gate, this morning he went up to the TV and pulled all the magazine sout and remotes sucked on them they thru them on the floor, then was pushing on the foxtel button, little bugger he is, and then a month ago, i caught him in the cutlery, lucky it only had gladwrap and alfoil and not knifes, im thinking its time to Ryley proof my kitchen :wall: I just cant believe how quick they really do grow up, that just dont stay babies long enough :cryinglaugh:

Hoody - Yeh i have been doin the baby viks, it seems to be going great, i just cant get over the price of baby stuff, i think when they put the word baby on a product they double th price, like normal vicks was $4.5o and Baby Vicks was $6.99... its so crazy :( im goin to go to Target and do a BIG layby there, i looked on there site and they have really good toys there :) hehe i have spend so much on Ryley but its his bday before Chrissy anyway.... so thats my exuse ;)

Well my date was a lil eventful, i did an awesome food shop, i found everything i need was on special woohoo love it when that happens, and i cooked 3 meals today, dinner tonight, Dinner tomorrow night (coz dont get home from work till 6pm after i pick Rye up) and cook Ryes dinner for 2 weeks, so i had a proactive day :) haha but not a good night, Ryely is still so sick, he has been on antibiotics for 5 days and he is getting worse, THE BOOGERS ARE BACK!!!!! and i think he has tonsilitis, he wont drink any bottles and when he does he powerchucks, so to the doctors im goin tomorrow, so im not going to work :( oh poor me haha

LOL Melz, he is not yet walking, mainly cruising and pushing things along or walking holding my hand. Very cute, but still dependent on me mostly. Wont be too long before he is off by himself though, then I will have my work cut out for me! :cryinglaugh:

DB - oh ok, i get u, but still thats walkin, oh how cute, he will be OFFFF before u no it :dance: and then u will def have ur hands full :) haha
I think Ryely will be an early walker and i dont think he'll crawl, i think he'll walk before.. he was rolling over by himself at 4 weeks and commando crawlin at 6 weeks, my lil man is so advanced for being 4 weeks prem, u would have never known :) Is Caden crawling?? My newphew, Well call "Johnson" is 3 days younger than Rye and Ryely can like hold his own bottle, sit on his own give u kisses, and put arms up for u to pick him up, but Johnson cant do any of it and and i think its more because they dont take time to play and teach... its so amazing how fast they pick things up :clap:

It so depends on the child. Caden started crawling at 8 months. He just never liked tummy time and would roll himself back onto his back to get off his tummy! Some pals I know were all concerned and said I should try heaps more things to get him to stay on his tummy, as it is best for development. However, I feel that it is like trying to make them grow teeth faster - they are pre-wired for certain things, and as long as I didn't discourage his development, then he would do things at his own pace, that has been pre-wired genetically. I feel I was right, because as soon as he started liking tummy time, he was off! And now he is HEAPS more active than my pal's bub, so it just goes to show doesn't it?

I have learned that it is best to open them up to as many developmental opportunities and experiences as possible, but let them go at their own pace and not pressure them. Some bubs are just more naturally precocious - which sounds like Ryley! He sounds like a star :clap: It must be lovely to be able to interact with him so well. Caden doesn't kiss (unless it is with lots of dribbles) but he does play peekaboo, claps MY hand, reaches for everything in site, talks alot, and is generally very strong on his feet. Other bubs are better than him at some things, and not as good at others, so it just goes to show how individual they are!

Well, I did my test today and it went well. I am sure I passed anyway. I have an exam on Monday, then only one more assessment piece to go, then the unit is complete! (then only 4 more units to go, then I graduate :dance:). Still, better get some study done before then...

when Rye was born he was a tummy baby, would sleep during the day on his tummy and at night on his back, only coz i was worried about the hole sids thing, but now, im lucky if he will go on his tummy, and when he does he rolls straight over and he turns it into a gmae of goin back and forwards, he has always been strong on his legs tho, and im not one to push him to do stuff and be better than his age, im have to teach him but no push him, and im big on the hole he'll do it hwne he can... His new thing he is doing at the moment, is takin ghis socks of, which is no good, because it is so freakin cold and his toes get cold..

So what r u studying?? so who looks after caden when ur doing test and study?? also go u for studying, thats so awesome :clap: Do u find it hard being a mum and studying?? how often do u go all that stuff?? tell me all :)
i want to go to UNI, i really want to be a midwife, but i think how do u study (well find time too) when ur a mum, plus we wont to eventually have anyother baby, then ill have to stop studying so all these decisions to weigh up on, its all to hard :(

We went to the doctor today and Rye has a thraoat infection, his chest has gotten better, but its his throat now, its like one thing after another at the moment.. :( he actually drining his bottles today, so he isnt so dehydrated, but still diarrhea... poor bubba...

Hey Melz,
I am studying Psychology at uni. I started a double degree in Commerce and Psych when I was 23 and did it full time for 3 years, then went part time, finished off the Commerce degree, and now have a few units left of the Psych before I finish that. So in a way, I am kind of cheating, as I have not really done a whole degree as such, just finishing off. I have 4 units to go which hopefully will be completed by the end of next year.

It is hard studying with bub, that's for sure! At the end of the day you are so tired and exhausted from running around all day and being constantly in demand, that the last thing you want is to hook into a book about Spearman's G and Anova tests and Chi Square (yik). But I guess I push myself because I don't have long to go. If it is something you really want to do, you find the time and you love it. If I had my time again I would love to be a doctor or a midwife or something. I sort of got focussed a bit later in life, and really I still don't know where I want to go. That is why I figured I will finish the Psych degree, then with 2 degrees under my belt I may have more options! :wall: I am sure I will always want to do something that I can't, like being a doctor or something. Sometimes you put the dream aside to be realistic.

Have you thought about being a Doula? My SIL wanted to be a MW but she is a mum to 3 kiddies, so has difficulty finding the time also. I suggested to her about Doula training, cos then it is the first and easier step to midwifery, and enables you to earn some $ while continuing your study. Just a thought anyways...

Well, gotta go clean the house before the rellies come (and might slip in a cuppa also :D)

Hello Ladies

I'm gonna cheat and not do personals as i have a ROTTEN headache. DD1 went to nanna's for a sleep over last night so we went to friends for the evening but didnt get home to 1am i only had Tea to drink but feel hungover which isnt very fair :doh: Must be the late night though. I am also struggling with AF. Since having Molly its been a bit haywire but this month has really thrown me. TMI- i started last sun 13th but wasnt due til the 16th i spotted for a day then stopped then started again on tues after dtd. Then again stopped after a day then started yesterday like i never have b4. I'm soooo heavy and crampy and for me its really unusual. The thought of an early MC has even crossed my mind but i just dont know. DH has been good i didnt get up til 11am today as i have felt so yuk. Enough about me.

Molly is still has her cough from the bronchialitis but otherwise is in good health :lol: She is back to her sleeping through and 2 nice day sleeps for now which is nice. Her feeding is also back to normal with 3-4 milk feeds a day and 3 solid meals. We are slowly increasing the finger foods which she loves but boy can be messy. She is still a lazy bones but yesterday on the floor was rolling more and even moved backward (well unless DD1 had moved her when my back was turned ;) ) Well enjoy your weekends and i will do personal next time

Hoody - bummer about AF. Personal question, are you using contraception? (dont' answer if TMI). I am on the mini-pill, and haven't had AF yet anyway. The thought of pregnancy crossed my mind when CAden went off the boobie. But I thought, what are the chances? Breastfeeding, no AF, and pill, so it must be a million to one. But still... I feel fine now though, so am sure it is not pg :rolleyes: which is good because THAT would blow DHs socks off! Considering we rarely DTD these days anyway :redface:

DB- gotta be quick as we have friends here! I have just escaped the madness for a minute as i am still not feeling 100%. With re to contraception NO i am not using anything. We dont DTD all too often these days only 5-6 times a month and we use condoms or TMI if we are been lazy then DH will pull out so thats why i thought there could be a chance.

Sorry I've been so absent, I keep popping in, intending to write, then something (or someone) drags me away and it doesn't happen. So if no-one minds the lack of proper personals, except to say I do think about you guys and love to hear how you are all doing, (oh, and welcome to MummyMelz too!!), then I'll update you on how monster boy is doing.

Eating: almost anything. From being a little fussy and giving it up for a while, he now devours whatever I shovel into his gaping maw. Except pumpkin by itself. Still on mashed vegies and fruit only, avocado and banana the outright favourite, going to try meat sometime in the next week or so. Waiting till 9 months to try pasta/wheaten stuff.

Teething: we finally have a tooth!! :hooray: After five months of teething, one has come through - we have a razor sharp little pointy thing which has not yet made its acquaintance with my nipple, thank goodness. The other one is obviously not far behind as he is still chewy and drooly.

Moving: not crawling, as such, but has this abstract (and quite complicated when you think about it) method of locomotion which involves pulling himself onto hands and knees, then onto bum, then rolling sideways back onto hands and knees, crawling backwards a few steps or sometimes even forwards, then repeating the whole thing and spinning around the room like a weird ungainly top. It works for him, but although I've told him that crawling would actually be much simpler as he could get from A to B without having to travel the entire alphabet in between, he won't have a bar of it.

He is pulling himself up onto things and thinks that he's oh so clever for doing so. He can pull himself to squatting, but only to standing if the object he's pulling himself up with is low enough. I reckon he might be cruising before he crawls...

Vital statistics: Boofhead. Dunno about weight and height but he's big and strong and beats his mother up. DB, I laughed about Caden being an alpha bub - I think Euan has those tendencies too. He just beats all the other babies at mum's group up though. He likes to poke them in the eyes. I can see him turning into one of those kids who steals the other kids' lunch money and gives them all wedgies.

Talking: in the last few days this kid just won't shut up. Dunno where he gets it from. ;)
Possibly because his grandma is here he has a captive audience who doesn't spend her days at the computer. But for whatever reason he has been incredibly talkative lately. He wakes in the night to have a chat with the walls.

Should go, his lord and mastership is calling...

Suse- lovely to hear from you. DP's just dont get why we arent all that interested in DTD are they. My DH would have more and thinks he doesnt get nearly enough. I dont write it down or anything silly but i make an effort to give him some kind of attention twice a week (if i can). The main reason i make an effort is when DD1 was born he got a bit jealous of all the attention she got when he got none :cryinglaugh: I'd be happy with just going to bed to sleep lol. Euan sounds like he us doing so well.

Well not much to tell here. No real exciting news both girls are doing well and very healthy :dance: Had a busy weekend but a nice one we had a big family day on sun which was lovely. Hope you are all well

Sorry I went MIA. Have been going a little crazy here. My brother-in-law is coming to stay for 2 months from the end of next week and I am trying to get a room organised for him. It was the junk room, throw things in and close the door room so it needs a huge cleanout. I am stressing a little. Plus it looks like I might be going to the US in September, as DH is going over for work. So I have heaps to do before going back to work, which will now be the first week of October. So I will be in and out a bit I think

Nothing new to report here. Jacob is sleeping better, still up twice a night, but settling back fairly easily. I think he might be trying to drop a day sleep as well, but I'm not sure if he is really ready for only one sleep a day yet. We shall see.

Hoody - my DP understands why I have no interest in DTD, but it doesn't stop him from trying to see if I may have changed my mind :cryinglaugh:

Have been MIA also, did a test for uni on Friday, then crammed all weekend, even with DHs birthday lunch on Saturday, to finish the exam on Monday. Caden is also teething (when will it end? :wall:) so I have averaged 5 hours sleep per night for the last 4 nights or so. AND we all got a bit of a tummy bug, so needless to say I am not sure if I did very well on my exam. One question I answered I hadn't even read the info on, just thought I would wing it :redface:. At least it is over with :dance:. Now, just onto the assignment...

Hoody - as for DTD, DH "gets it" once a week, I really have to psych myself up for it. I would love twice a week, but never get around to it. I, like you, would just prefer the sleep :rolleyes:. Again might be TMI but it is quite "sensitive" down there and takes alot of work to feel the same as it did before, IYKWIM? I had a 2nd degree tear, so that still plays up. I have heard that once I stop bf, it should get better. We shall see :pray:

Suse - Yay for the tooth! I have the second two bottom ones coming through, the skin is almost translucent and so so tight, but it is yet to cut. It has taken since last Friday so hopefully the pressure will ease soon once they have cut :pray:. It is driving us crazy and am so over the screaming baby.

June - glad to hear Euan is settling better at night. Caden has been up a fair bit lately as well on account of the teething. It took 3 hours last night to settle him and about 2 hours the night before. After I had tried for 2 hours, I asked DH to have a go. He just said "he is hungry" and I'm like "I have just fed him!!", then he says "it doesn't work for me" and again I reply "I have tried for the last 2 hours so it isn't working for ME EITHER!!". I mean really :doh: the man can be so frustrating.

Well, like I said, teething and grumpy bub. Started baby gym again today and DH came because he is on holidays for 2 weeks, so that was really nice. It is nice that he gets to be part of the fun stuff, not the hard stuff all the time.

Better go get some sleep and :pray: this bub sleeps through and gives his mumma and dadda a break.

For the 4th night in a row I have only had 5 hours sleep :( My poor bubba with his teeth. Just after I finished the post last night and jumped into bed, he started, and didn't stop for an hour and a half! I must have been drunk dry, not that he was hungry, but just wanted to suck. Mind you, he pretty much sucks/chews, which is a bit uncomfortable, but must feel good on his little gums.

I have just gotten him down again this morning after a 3 hour wake time between 6 and 9. I don't think he will be down long so need to go get a cuppa and relax for the half hour or so break :rolleyes:.

DB- I hope you get some sleep tonight :pray: I dont know how you live on 5hrs a night i know i couldnt. I have trouble getting up in the morning even with 8hrs under my belt. DH has to drag me out of bed when he leaves for work at 8-8.30. He has started getting the girls up for me which is lovely. GL with all the uni stuff must be a relief to only have the assignment left.

June- You do sound busy. Some days Molly will only have one day sleep where she will go down about 11 and sleep for 4-5hrs then still go to bed on time. I try to give her 2 though as i think she still needs it. But they are all diff.

Suse- have you always been a mod? i just noticed. If its a new thing congrats.

Well all well here i'm super organised today as i havent left the house- its not stopped raining. Its just gone 4pm and both girls are bathed and in PJ's already. We will have an early tea then i'm hoping by 6ish they will both be in bed and i can take Maggie for a walk. Thats right walking the dog in the rain i must be mad :cryinglaugh: I am feeling a bit frumpy so i figure getting out and walking will help me feel better.

Suse - Hi, and thanx 4 the welcome :) Euan is gorgeous, whats his DOB??? Well Ryely has 7 teeth, and really didnt winge much at all and i barely used bonjela, i guess al bubs are differnet, but congrats on the tooth, i no hepas of babies older than Ryley (like 100 and 11 months) with no teeth hehe

June - so good Jacob is sleepin better :) must be easier on u!!! and YAY for the US, u lucky thing :) i need help too, i have two junk rooms, Well one is DF's Drum room and ones the spare room, thats not so much a spare room, but i turned it into a BIG junk room, but its so weird on how much we rely on a junk room, well hope it all goes well cleaning it out, u will feel so much better once its done, so how cum ur BIL is staying (if u dont mind me asking)????

Hoody - Sorry i no i have been missing in action, been so busy,Well my DF, must be the luckiest man alive :D we DTD every night and twice a night, if i have energy, some nights, i do just roll over and sleep or i like to just watch TV.. but i could easily go wif out it tho :) haha

DB - Opsssss just realised i noever wrote back to ur thread on 19th July Sorry babe, i will now rely :) haha WOW for u!!! that so rocks, u can studying and be a mum, two thumbs up for u hunee!!! i no eactly what u mean, u focused a lil bit later on in life, i want to definietly be a midwife, but i see it as, i have so much time to study, i am only 21, and once Rye and if we have anymore kids and they go to skewl, im still going to be quiet young, so for now, im going to concerntrate on my baby and go from there, i guess it will all fall in place in the future... oh u poor thing, i dont no why we werent just born with teeth already cut through haha how much easier would life be, but u poor thing, u must be so tired and wif studying and no sleep oh i dont no how u do it... SUPER MUM UR!!!!

I have been thinking really hard over the last few days if i wont another baby (not no, but in a year or two), spoke to DF and he said he is quiet happy with just Ryley but if i want to we will have another.... i seen my new lil nephew on Monday and im really clucky, so i have decided that i REALLY REALLY REALLY want another baby and i think i will try when rye is 2yo, so i can start trying in 17 months... oh so excited YAY FOR ME!!!!

Yeah i couldnt get a pic on my other ticker, so thought i would find one where i could add a pic :) my baby boy in the bath, he loves his bath time, and i make sure everynight he has one, its his favourite thing, When he was a wee lil baby and be wingy and i coudnt stand the whinging, i would give him a bath, so i had 5 mins to think and then he would be as good as gold :)

Mummy Melz - love the pic. We love bathtime here too. Only they aren't very relaxing, more of a chance to saturate the whole bathroom as he kicks like crazy :D Wow you certainly are busy. I don't know who any of you manage to look after other kids (although I guess you just do). I have enough trouble finding time to do things with only one child in the house.

DB - praying you get some more sleep. It seems like it never ends when they are teething. I will probably be joining you with the sleepless nights soon as Jacob has just started teething again in the last couple of days too, so looks like the fun is starting again. I wonder how long these will take to come through.

Hoody - hope you had fun walking Maggie in the rain. It is pouring here at the moment and my two dogs are looking very forlorn at the back door at the moment. I don't even want to go out to check the letterbox its that wet.

Hello Ladies :)

Have any of your bubs had temps with teething? DD1 always did and always got sick every time she cut a new tooth. Molly doesnt have any through yet but has been teething for ages. Yesterday and today she has had temps up to 39.4 but in her self appears well. Her bottom gums are REALLY swollen and she is a bit clingy but otherwise seems fine. Everytime her panadol wears off up creeps the temp again. If its still going on tomo i will take her to Dr's but just wondering what other ppl opinion on teething and temps are. I know they say teething alone shouldnt cause a temp but with DD1 she always got one. She is still sleeping, eating and weeing/pooing fine so i am not too worried iykwim but of course if there is something going on i will take her to GP tomo.

Molly is sitting really well now and def moving more though still not crawling. She does move backwards a little bit though. Poor baby i know she isnt behind but when i think back to DD1 or see other bubs the same age and on the move i feel a bit sorry for her. I know she will do it in her own time and as i always say it is easier when they dont move but somewhere inside me i really want her to keep up with the pack iykwim.

Hello all you lovely ladies. I have been so busy lately, not to mention the computer got a virus so have been down and out for the last couple of days. DH has managed to get it up to some semblance of normality, but for how much longer I am not sure so I am getting in when I can.

Lots going on, but first, personals...

Melz - uni isn't so hard normally, I have found it quite stressful though with a bub. My usual style of studying is waiting until the last minute when the pressure is enough to motivate me into action, then I just hit the books, pull an all-nighter, and score a distinction! Can't do that with a bub, particularly one that decides to cut teeth right when I am trying to cram in the study. As it is, I passed my exam, which is worth the most marks, so that is a relief. Still, I have the assignment to go. As for another bub, DH is actually talking as if he doesn't want another, but I want 2 more. Our comprimise has always been having 2 kids, but he is still struggling with being a dad. The other day we ran into a guy that has a 1 year old, and he mentioned what a struggle it was. I thought it was good for DH to hear, as all he gets from our friends is how much the sunshines out of their baby's nappy area, and DH feels a bit down because he is not really enjoying it that much. I keep telling him it will get better, and that all dads feel a bit lost in the first year - babies are mainly for mummies :)

Hoody - as for the temp, Caden might get up to 38 degrees, but not much higher. I use panadol and nurofen to manage it - nurofen lasts a bit longer. In most of the books Ihave read it says that teething wont cause a fever, just a mild fever of 37.5. Therefore Molly might have an ear infection which is causing the higher temp. I hope the teeth come through soon! They are so painful the poor things.

Suse - Wow a moderator! Well done!LOL about having your eye on us, we don't say much anyways! Yay for the crawling and standing up. I think Caden became a lot happier when he could crawl and stand and coast along. He has his independence now, and although I have to keep an eye on him as he is facinated by all things hazardous, it is easier than trying to entertain him all day.

June - Yeah, finally got some sleep after a week of grizzling! The tooth finally cut on Thursday, so we have had quite a blissful few days. The other bottom one is just cutting now and doesn't seem to be causing too much trouble, so maybe it is harder with the combined movement of both teeth? Now that one is through, maybe the other will be easier?? Fingers crossed...

As for us, have had a busy week. Caden has been good all weekend, but for a whole week last week was a bit of a night mare. In a way it was good DH was home on holidays cos it would have been hard work without him, but a bit sad for DH to have a crying baby all week :( Anyways, it is over now and we now have 6 teeth, 3 on the bottom and 3 on the top :) with the other two definitely on their way. I think after the 8 are out we should be ok for a while? "they" say around 12-18 months for the molars, so hopefully we get a bit of a break.

As for DTD, for us I make an effort once a week *blush*. It is not that I am not interested, just hard to get the time and energy. Wow Melz, your DH is a LUCKY man! Every night, my gosh!

We have been looking at display homes cos we want to build in a years time. All weekend we have been driving around and looking through homes. Caden has been an angel and charms all the real-estate people :rolleyes: It is so lovely dreaming about a big home, currently we live in a triple-story, 100m2 townhouse and it is getting a bit cramped with baby stuff around. Also it is open plan, so we can see the bottom floor from the top - a bit scary with a bub who thinks he can walk and wants to climb down the stairs! I don't want to be pregnant again with a bedroom on the top floor and the toilet down the bottom :)

Caden is doing so well, he is becoming so interesting and interactive. He now coasts along the furniture and walls really quickly. He climbs up the chairs, then moves across as far as he can go, then will pop back onto the floor and crawl to the next climing point! It is so damn cute I just love watching him. He is so much more confident on his feet and I am able to get some stuff done without worrying that he will fall (too much). He is eating really well, still having a night feed, but I don't mind that. He says "dad" in context now, but "mum" indiscriminatly. He has a really good pincer grip and is quite happy with finger foods at the moment - usually a finger food snack for lunch. I have also began giving him normal food, such as last nights spaghetti, etc, I just cook it without the herbs and spices, then spice it up once it is served. It is easier than trying to think up yummy foods each night. Oh, and he walks along holding one of my hands, and is fairly confident with that :)

...ok, no more bragging! It is just nice to be able to mention how he is doing and hear how other bubs are going.

Well, I think I am up to date, might go grab a cuppa before the lil fella wakes up.

Sorry I wasn't around over the weekend. Headed up to Townsville to visit the in-laws, always an interesting experience!! We were expecting a fairly warm weekend, but go up there at the first night it went down to 11 degrees, which was not at all fun in a house that is built to deal with warm days not cold ones, plus DH's parents leave all the windows open all the time, so the place was like an icebox. I am really not sure what they were thinking. I got up to feed Jacob in the middle of the night and he put his hand on my stomach and it was like a little icecube. Jacob flew really well but showed that he doesn't like his routine changed as he was very clingy the whole of the first day. He didn't let me out of his sight and there were no smiles for anyone for ages. I felt bad for DH's parents and his sisters, as they don't get to see him alot and I guess I wanted him to be at his best for them. He also slept really badly. Its like he was reacting to the strange cot and the strange room. He would wake up with almost a terrified wail. But he did settle down after the first day and he was much better.

Looks like the top two teeth are almost through the gum now as well. I am hoping they aren't going to go too slowly. So far we have had a couple of awful days with him teething, but not like the 3 month teething period we had with the first lot of teeth.

DB - :clap: Yay 6 teeth now. I know they have been little buggers coming through, but they seem to be coming a bit quicker now which is great. How exciting looking at display homes. I know how scary the whole staircase thing is. I live in a split level house so have two internal stair cases. I am really not looking forward to that when Jacob decides to start moving properly. I can't believe how well Caden is moving for you that is great. :D That he is starting to talk too. Jacob is giving us lots of bubububbubs and mumumums, but not in context. Still not dadadads, which I am working on.

Hoody - we haven't had temps with teething here. It is possible she might have an ear infection. Talking to my sister-in-laws over the weekend and most of their babies got ear infections when they were teething. Oh and don't feel bad that Molly isn't moving. Jacob really don't seem at all interested in it. We do have a bit of sliding backwards on the wooden floors, but he is much more content to just sit and play (well as long as I am in sight :))
