Hollye im sooo tired (already) and B is just really sooky and miserable - she isnt handling it well at all! she is hardly eating (drinking), and still hasnt slept its going to be another loooooong night!

On the brighter side of things tho - B had her 4mth check up today and her stats are:

    Weight - 6.8kgs...... was when born 3.3kgs

    Length - 63cm........ was when born 48cm

    Head - 41.5cm........ was when born 33cm

So all is well - the nurse said she was also very strong, alert and active for her age?!
so i guess all the tummy time, playing, singing, painting, teaching how to crawl (hahahah) etc is paying off!

Hollye I forgot to answer you about the exercises, whenever I pick him up I have to roll him onto his left side and raise him up that way so that he straightens his head, I also have to hold him on my left arm with his head resting on my forearm and straighten his head and gently hold his shoulder down.

HJ I hope that little Miss B gets better soon. She's doing so well.

I thought that I would put up Julian's stats:

    Weight 6.8kgs ........ 3.5kgs birth

    Lenght 62cm .......... 50cm birth

    Head Circ 41cm ....... 33cm birth

I think that I've got mastitis again in my left breast or at least a blocked duct, it's soo sore, has been since Monday. I think because of his torticollis he doesn't feed as effiently from that side.

Amanda - I had mastitis last week and it is sooo painful. Feeding is the best thing for it but hurts like hell. If it's not better by tomorrow I would be going to the doctor's as they say that if you can't unblock the duct within 12hrs then you need AB, especially if the blockage is red, hard and hot. Hope it clears up by itself for you.

hj - Hope B is better soon, that sounds awful, poor little darling. Do you give her water as well as formula?

Just got Olive to sleep after 3hrs of trying. I think she's a bit unsettled cause of the formula and was soo overtired. The trouble is that I will have to wake her and give her another feed otherwise ahe will be awake in the middle of the night. She is supposed to have 250mls for her age but only drank about 80-100 each feed but I suppose it will take some getting used to and must be more filling then bm. She did feed more frequently though and she lets me know when she is hungry. She also only usually drinks 120-140mls of bm as well.

    have a good night everyone.

    Hi Girls,

HJ - Hope B is feeling better nothing worse when you've got a sick little bubba and you wana do all you can to make them better. She's growing nicely though. I can't wait to get Lara weighed next week. Hasnt been done since her 2month needles.

OM - Hope Olive gets used to the formula soon. What formula do you have her on? Lara is meant to be on 200mls for each feed and 5 bottles a day. She has the 5 bottles but only 200mls for her first morning and last nightly feed, all the rest are 150mls. She just can't handle 200mls all day long. I am sure Olive will let you know if she is hungry.

Hollye - I know you got Mia christened a few weeks ago. We haven't got DD1 or Lara christened but are thinking we would like to both get them done. What do we have to do, just contact the church we wish to have them done at and go from there?

Amanda - I hope the mastitis clears up soon for you. Julian's weights etc are great as well.

Nothing much to report from me. Lara is 4 months old today. I can't believe my little bubba is 4 months old already. My god time flies.

Better go, hi to everyone I have missed.

I thought I'd posted a few days ago but it has mysteriously dissapeared. Maybe i just clicked 'preview post'. Anyhoo...

Liam is supposed to have 200mls of his formula 4-5 times a day. Because we're supplementing he has 150ml now on top of BF and only 4 times a day. Actually, he usually has the 1st feed just BF, so just formula 3 times. He used to be very happy with just up to 100ml formula (on top of BF) but lately has been crying at the end if its just that much. Because of this i actually tried him on solids earlier in the week (mon & tues). He was very good at it!! And LOVED it - smiles, eyes lit up, etc. But then he got quite cranky in the arvo so I've gone off it the last 2 days to see if that might be why and he's been much happier. So i think i'll still hold off for a little while and just keep giving him all that formula. He's just 6.6kg so I don't think he's being overfed. (He BF's for about 15-20mins usually then just won't have any more but whinges if he doesn't get the bottle)

HJ - sorry B's sick. Hope she's feeling better soon and that you can catch up on some sleep at some stage.

Amanda - i hope the mastitis clears up for you soon. I'm so glad I've never had to contend with that.

    Hi to everyone else.

Amanda - Julians doing well growing wise also!
Sorry to hear u may have mastitis - i know how bad that can be so my heart does go out too you! did u ring the psyhic?

Hollye - our 2 girls are never far behind each other are they? hehehe

OM - thank you - B is looking and sounding a bit better this morning - and yep i give her water (but only if its warm)- at the moment she is actually drinking more water than formula - hopefully thats not too bad - but they way im looking at it is at least she is getting fluids - i dont want her dehydrated!
Dont worry about O not drinking the 250mls thats recommended - as i think it was Hollye that reasured me that is only a guide! B is meant to be having 200mls but she is only drinking between 100-150 (when not sick) and she is doing more frequent feeds than it says as well - so just use it as a guide - she will certainly tell u if she is hungry - and as long as she is putting on weight than all is good!

Leigh - i cant wait to hear how much Lara has grown - and its going to be a bit of a shock for you since its been 2mths! im almost addicted to getting B measurements done - just cause i like seeing how much she has grown - im only going to do it monthly now i think!
    Happy 4mths Lara xoxo

1stbub27 - wow u have tried Liam on solids! how exciting - what did u try him on?
I was speaking to my health nurse yesterday and they said its actually not a bad thing to start them on solids around 4mths of age as long as they have strong neck control - because what they are finding is those that are waiting until 6mths of age - come the baby being 8-9mths they are "gagging" on the more chunckier meals because they have started solids a bit late and therefor have been left on the more runnier stuff such as yogurts to long so they aren't coping well with the chuncky stuff - which they should be able to have no problems at 8-9mths! bit hard to explain by typing but it made perfect sense to me! hopefully u can understand what im trying to explain! hahaha
i will prob be looking at solids for B around 5mths - although was told she would be good to go now even if we just start her on rice cereal!

Anyways - thanks everyone for asking how Bianca is going - we actually got some sleep last night! woohoo! so she is much happier this morning! still very snuffly and looking a bit tired, and sick - but its an improvement from yesterday!

HJ yeah rang her yesterday and left a message and I haven't heard back yet? So hopefully she will ring today. Is it like that when you rang to book? How's B today?

Well poor Julian woke screaming at 4:30am and I tried to feed him and he didn't want a bar of it, so I just patted him on my shoulder and he went to sleep so let him sleep on my chest for a bit then layed him in bed with me. He then woke at 6am and I tried to feed again and he had a bit and then started screaming so sat him up and burped him and he did a massive chuck, so I just put him in bed and he fell straight to sleep and still is now, not sure what's wrong, will have to keep an eye on him.

    hugs xoxo

Leigh - yeah just give your church a ring. They will either orgainse it for you or give you the number for the preist or bishop.. They will then set a date (can only be a sunday) and the rest is up to u. Send out invites.. organise if you want to have lunch afterwards etc... and so on so forth. As for costs, the service doest cost anything but they do like you to donate to the church. So we just gave them $50.

Mia didnt wake up lastnight! thank god.. i thought it was coming her new "thing". So she slept 8:30pm till 7:30am. Still having a rollover feed at 11pm. Im not sure when im meant to cut that out??? im thinking when shes on solids mayb??????

Hollye - we dont do feeds in the middle of the night - B is happy usually sleeping 1930-0600am - but occassionally she will wake up maybe around 0100, but otherwise is fine to go that amount of time without a feed! how much does Mia drink at that 1100am feed? maybe u could start cutting it out now?????

Amanda - i have always been lucky enough to get straight thru to her! but i usually ring of an evening?!

csab - B is feeling a bit better today - thank you for asking! how is our little V going?

HJ - see the only issue i have if i cut it out is that is the ONLY spew she doesnt chuck back up. So she gets a good feed then. SHe has about on average 100-140mls.

Hollye - I recken keep the dreamfeed, if it's not broke then don't try to fix it, they keep us on our toes enough!!!

Leigh - I'm not sure about getting Olive christened either. My mum would love it if we did but i'm just not sure. I was thinking of a naming ceremony instead but have never been to one so I don't know what they are actually like. Has anyone been to one?

Amanda - How is the mastitis? Did you need AB

    Hi to everyone i've missed.

Olive has still been really unsettled and is taking AGES to get to sleep. She had her immunisations this arvo which was horrible but apart from the initial screaming seems fine so far and is asleep now.
I feel like @#!* from the meds I am on to clear up my infection. Headaches, shortness of breath, lightheadedness and nausea, just what you need with a baby and i'm not allowed to go in the sun either! I also feel incredibly guilty about the formula and Olive hates it and looks at me like "what is this crap" everytime I give it to her. Dh is also PMO because he has gone fishing tonight, is going surfing tomorrow and fishing on sunday so is in the bad books big time! He knows it and is trying to suck up but all I want is to feel myself again and have some baby free time. It's my sisters hens night tomorrow night but i'm not sure if I will go or not due to how i'm feeling but at the same time it's a good excuse to leave Olive at home with her dad and take my mind off it all. Hope i'm feeling better by the actual wedding next weekend. Olive tried on her little mini light gold raw silk flowergirl dress yesterday and it was the cutest thing ever! My mum made it to match my 4 other nieces' and it is just lovely. My MIL is babysitting for a couple of hours so hopefully that goes well, she is SO excited.
Sorry for all the whinging girls, hope you all have lovely weekends.

I forgot to add that Olive sat up by herself for about 5mins today on several occasions. I sat her down then she used her arms to hold herself up clever girl!

Aw OM :hugs: Sorry you're having such a hard time ATM. Don't feel guilty about the bottle, you have no choice. Even if Olive were to remember it down the track I know she would understand. Baby's just love routine (can't blame them coming into this strange strange new environment) so the look and any unsettling is just due to that, not coz she thinks you're a bad mum. It's actually good she doesn't seem all that impressed with it. Should make it easier to wean her off it when you're all cleared up. That was my prob with Liam, he got the bottle and LOOOVED it. I'll be holding off on the bottle as long as i can for the 2nd one.
Liam can sit up for a few minutes on his own but he balances forward and i wonder how he can breath properly like that, though he seems happy...

Amanda - hope Julian gets better. Hopefully its just a short lived thing.
BTW, the play gym you have him on in the picture, with the bug (butterfly?) head - I have that one!!

HJ - I started Liam on rice cereal last Monday and Tuesday. I used the Rafferty's Garden organic with extra iron thing - in a squishy pack in Woolies. I haven't used it since coz he was cranky the afternoon afterwards, and has been good since i stopped. So I'll leave it a week or 2 then try again. Every book and website I've read up on has suggested starting at 4-6months, depending on the baby. I figured since he seemed hungry and interested I'd try and if we had problems i could stop and try a little later.

Oh! I've rediscovered my love for opshops! I picked up a multifunction bar-mix type thing with a good sized chopper for baby food, for only THREE DOLLARS!!!! LOVE a bargain.

    Have a great weekend everyone.
