Didi - Ew! How gross. There's been several of those around here on the beaches where the backpackers go. Pretty awful.
Leigh - isn't that weird how drink effects so much now.
Olive - How are your parents doing after the floods? Does it take long for insurance to kick in? How are you feeling being back at work? (even though its only been 2 days so far). Obviously you're feeling better about the decision with Olive being more settled the 2nd day, but while you're at work how does it feel?
Well sorry its been so long since ive been on again. just had the in-laws over for an extended weekend - 4 extra adults squashed into our very small house. It had me getting the house ready for 1 1/2 weeks prior to their arrival, happily gaving up our room and my sewing/scrapping room, we borrowed a camper for the 15 year old nephew while DH and i squeezed into Liam's room on the floor. And of course while they were here I was constantly on the go with looking after them and all the usual work involved with a baby. Well, it all was going pretty well I thought, until the last night when my usually bubbly SIL was talking to us and told us quite bluntly that they were leaving ASAP the next morning (meaning they'd be waiting @ the Sunny Coast for HOURS) because they felt so unwelcome. !!!!!!! WTF??????? !!!!!!! We're not the most natural entertainers, but not welcome???? Well, she was being a bit dramatic and I went off to bed before i said or did something i might regret. Poor DH then had to deal with the blow up (a smaller one than if i'd stayed up!). The excuse the next day was she's just recently gone back on the pill and has been really hormonal. So the whole time she's been taking all sorts of things completely the wrong way. Still, poor DH has been wanting them to come and see our new life up here for 3 years (while my parent are up 3 or 4 times a year) and had FINALLY got them up and it left a pretty bad taste in our mouths.
Oh, also, last Thursday when DH went down to the Sunny Coast to pick them up, he ended up almost blowing the motor and its still down there, going to cost $3500 to fix. Goodbye stimulus package plus plus plus....
On other news Liam is soooo active ATM. He's finally rolling front to back and back to front, and you turn away for a second and when you look back he's completely changed position and direction on the floor. He's not far from crawling. He gets himself up on his knees, then pushes up even further and gets up on his toes! Like a plank in yoga, and holds it for a fair amount of time. And he's sitting up sooo well and even keeps his balance while moving around and reaching for things. Look out world, Liam will be on the move soon.
I'm off to see my new nephew today - with everything else i haven't been able to see him since he was just 1 day old.
Hollye how did Mia's appointment go? I hope all went well, big
1stbub yay for getting to see your nephew again, I can't wait until my brother and SIL have kids, it's going to be so great to be an aunty. Pfft to your SIL how rude was she.
Well it was good having mum down but she was only here for a while and it was way too short, hopefully it won't be long before I get to see her again.
Julian is having a bit of a problem with his teeth I do believe, he's waking two or three times a night which he never does and won't go back to sleep with out boobie and the newest thing today is fighting all his sleeps so far he's only had one sleep today and I'm trying to get him to have a small nap before his dinner feed, I must admit I have no idea what is up. I can feel a lump where his bottom teeth are so hopefully it's just that and once they are through he will go back to sleeping as I'm soooo not use to getting up at night, lol.
Woohooo, look at my avvy, yay, I wish I was that hot.
Hollye - I hope today went well, I still didn't get to read your other post to see what it's all about but am hoping all is good for you and Mia.
1stbub - good to hear from you. God all the relo's visiting sounds stressful, glad to hear Liam is good though. Olive is almost crawling as well.
The insurance assessor visited my parents yesterday and was really good. They can start getting quotes right away so hopefully it won't be too long before they are back to semi-normality.
Work has been delayed again as Olive is sick again. She has had diarhhoea(sp) for 72hrs and hasn't been feeding properly. She has also had high temps so have had her to the doctors and then up the hospital this morning. It's so stressful, I went to work yesterday arvo but when I got home DH was beside himself as Olive has been screaming so I stayed home today and we both looked after her. The hospital said that she is a bit dehydrated but not enough to need any intervention thank goodness and just to try and keep the fliuds up. She has just been biting the teats alot though and there is no easy way to get fluids into a baby that doesn't want to drink. The poor darling also has the worst nappy rash from all the diarhhoea. They took a sample but that won't be back for a couple of days so was probably pointless. Really hope she is on the mend.
Oh OM! What a stressful time you've had lately! Poor little Olive. I hope she gets back soon. to both of you.
Nephew was sleeping the whole time i was there so i hardly got to see him - sounds familiar, im sure Liam did that to my sister when he was that young too. Was good to see my sister tho. She's doing a great job.
AJ - Liam is suddenly becoming a bad sleeper too. Wakes most nights and can be hard to get back to sleep. I tried control crying today. Took him 30 mins to get to sleep then he woke up after only 30 mins and cried so hard again and was hard to console. DH settled him while i got to feel like the bad mummy. I've always been pro-control crying in theory but i'm not sure its the right thing for Liam. Or else i'm doing it wrong or just expecting more than i should at this stage (not expecting perfect happiness but the continued stress in him was not expected). Just really confused about how to get from where we are to him happily going off to sleep in his cot.
Going to bed to get some sleep before Liam's next waking. MG tomorrow - YAY!!!!
1stbub - can I suggest that you ring Karatani or tressilion in regards to sleep. They can advise you on how to go about control crying. I personally don't believe in it but I think that if you are going to do it it may be good to get some advice from professionals. There is also a book called 'No Cry Sleep Solutions', not sure who it's by but i'm sure if you google it you will find out. This is what some of the mums from my mothers group and aba recommend.
Well its my birthday this saturday and i am thinking romantic dinner out with hubby and gold class movie!!! Sounds nice to me..
I bought myself a pair of jeans 2 weeks ago that I didnt fit into.. A susan pair size 14 But really small 14 compared to target/k-mart ones.. and I am so excited I fit into them yesterday.. I am so excited!! I have been working so hard at loosing weight and just feeling nice and well attractive again.. I am excited!!!!!!!
Sorry to blab..
Well this whole daylight savings i dont like.. The kids both go down at 8-9 and wake at 8-9. well now its an hour earlier.. I guess i shouldnt complain as I have 2 kids that sleep through everynight without fail!
I am thinking of getting my haircut... but I want a new style and I want to find someone that is a really good cutter.... any ideas how to find this???
Have a great day.. weigh in tomorrow!!! WOO HOO I CANT WAIT!
1stbub - hugs sweety xoxox I know its hard but take some deep breaths and remember we are all here for u and will help u through this sleep issue as much as we can. Another good boook that ladies from my mothers group used is "Save our sleep". Mayb just google around and see what u can find. Prob worth chucking a thread on here too in the sleeping section and seeing what everyone elses advice is. Personally we go by the 20 min rule here (advice from Mel). If we spend 20 mins trying to get her to sleep and shes not, we get her up and keep her awake for 20 mins then so on so forth. The second time she goes down shes asleep within 30 seconds
didi - come see me ill do ur hair! lol what are u thinking about doing to it??? i dont even know what it looks like now.. take a pic and i can throw some ideas ur way.
OM - she has a tooth doesnt she???????? sounds like some more teethies are on their way through!!!
So yesterday at the RCH - they say the top valve in her stomach isnt closing, hence nothing staying down . Option 1 - surgery to do it manually.... NO Option 2 - give her a medication to help the lower valve empty her stomach quicker...did sound good until "oh but it has some creepy side effects such as her eyes might roll into the back of her head"... uh NO Option 3.. Just keep going as we are going, the valve will grow and slowly close as she grows. Sometimes is takes to 6 months n sometimes 2 years.... yep thats a good option!!
So here we are.. same girl, same vommit... but there was no way they were doing them things to her. And hay 2 years of it... really is nothing when i have another 50+ years with her.
Hollye - glad Mia doesn't need surgery, that would be scary.
Olive has 2 teeth and a top one on the way however she has never reacted before and health professionals say that temps etc usually aren't related. The doctor also looked at her top tooth and said that while it's close it isn't red yet, meaning the symptoms shouldn't be worrying her yet. I thought she was on the mend but has had more diarohhea this morning and is still not feeding and is generally grizzly and won't let me leave her side. I'm not sure if or when I should take her back to the doctors, she has drank 1500mls of fluid in 3 days.
Didi - congrats on the weightloss and new jeans! I love daylight savings and hate when it goes back. I don't finish work until 6 so it means I get home in the dark.
Happy b'day for saturday!!! Sounds like it will be lovely.
