Bad day here...I feel like crap and all those great things, really low too, I have had 2 major crys and it is just midday. Poor Bethany is having to be self reliant today. I can provide bottles and clean bums but that is about the extent of it. Was supposed to have a visit from our support BHCN but no can do with the floods, I really needed that visit today. Am considering calling my mental health case worker and saying things suck what can be done?? I might even be forced to find someone to come and help this afternoon. I am NOT good at asking for help, the few people closest to me who I do ask know that if I ask it must be the end of the world or something equal.
Think baby needs a bottle. Great timing for a growth spurt girl.

Kat - 100 is just family. :( friends would be more on top of that.
DH has 11 sets of aunty and uncles and i have 5 then our first cousins... and grandparents and immediate family.
Unfortunately you cant just invite 1 aunt and not the rest iykwim.

awww PP that sucks....lol i mean i only have my parents here and one aunt (mums sister ) here my cousin (mums side) hubbys parents, hubbys aunt/her family, hubbys uncle/his family.. and thats it :D nice and small :D

Katone, the Gown is STUNNING!!!!! He looks so sweet. Bethany is jealous, She had to wear mummy's hand me down!! LOL

amy_o.....tell Bethany NOT to be jealous..their (jack & bethany's) kids can wear the gown :p
it was a bargain...bought it online...$54 including postage brand new!!! and it is from the states...had a choice of satin or cotton..i opted for the cotton one..

oh Katones, the gown is beautiful.

amy_o - sending big hugs your way too - if only we could help out. Definitely ask for help - people LOVE to be asked and looking after yourself is so crucial!! :hug:

*TMI warning*
Went back to my obs this morning... turns out my episiotomy hasn't healed all that well - i've got an "extra flap" of skin plus it's just sore sore sore. So he's going to admit me for most of a day and fix it up under general anaesthetic :( so that's a bit of a bummer, but would be nice to have it fixed up. I'm sure DH will forget how to dtd otherwise :rofl: I'm booked in for the 3rd of Feb... and he'll call me if they get a cancellation closer.
X seems to be doing a bit better... but got lugged to obs, plus mother's group (really wanted to see a talk re safety)... but it's 39 degrees so the poor little man isn't overly impressed. Hopefully he'll just sleep it off now. I gave him more panadol this morning... I'd swear he has a head/face/ear ache... he's just crying in his sleep every so often and rubbing at his head. He doesn't have a temp, but the panadol does seem to help him be more comfortable. Ooops he's off again... so am i!

Belfie..i hope Xander is OK!!!! Bummer about your episiotomy..at least you are going to get it mended...

Awww belfie, that is terrible :hug: Lucky you are so proficient with EBM so you can pump heaps before your op, cos I think you have to pump & dump for 12 hours or something after anaesthetic - but don't quote me on it!!! X sounds like ears to me - if he does develop a temp with it - might wanna get it checked. HOwever bubs this young ear infections not common - but not impossible???

katones - Jack looks lovely - Zander will be 7 months so too old for the whole gown thing - but I just don't know - I will wait until closer to see what size he is ......

Well, obviously my boy loves his afternoon sleeps - which bodes well wehn he sstarts to drop sleeps. He catnapped in pram again around 11ish for 15 mins, then back at home in bed around 12.40 - still asleep now at 3.35 ......

i know of afew bubs at this age that have had chronic ear infections...2 of them being my own :) ME..if he kept the rubbing up etc..i would have him checked... My daughters first ear infection (6 weeks old) her ear drum perforated/burst (sp??) and since then (turning 10 soon) has ALWAYS had ear problems.

well he's asleep again luckily. The thing with his ears is he was checked out by paed on Fri, and he thought was just a virus... but hopefuly it hasn't morphed into an ear infection or anything. I figure that he seems sick but not TOO sick IYKWIM. Oooh Katones, just read your post... hmm I'll keep watching him like a hawk. \

Re the follow-up op, apparently I'll be unable to express for 5-6 hours... so we'll see. Obs said I'd probably end up having to top him up with some formula. He had suggested I express extra, and I said I'm currently doing as much as i can and i"m only JUST ahead. So we'll see.... :fingerscrossed:

It was actually very special to have Bethany dedicatied in the dress I wore. Not that I remember wearing it!! By chance we got a photo of Bethany in the same position as me in the dress, just 27yrs between wearings!!! :)
Feeling bit better, everyone (well Bethany and I) just had an afternoon lay down. I am stewing some apples for dessert tonight and the house smells delicious!! I see my case manager tomorrow so just have to keep on keeping on for a bit longer.
Its good to have you all at the end of my fingers though. Makes a real difference. I would rate you better than my real mothers group!! I had so little in common with them....Anyhoo bless the interent hey girls
Belfie~~ Hope X's ears are ok I'll say a prayer for the little man!! Also good luck with your surgery. It'll be good to have it all fixed up.

I wish this infection would improve...I thought the pain was supposed to get better with the antibiotics not worse, I think that is part the reason I am so down in the dumps. Damn it hurts!!! Anyone have an epidural lying around???
If I don't see improvement soon I will march on back to the Dr.

i have just fed the little man...drank the WHOLE bottle!!!! woo hoo!!!

amy - i would be proud too, i asked if my gown was still around but it isnt otherwise both my kids would be baptised in it. instead they are baptised n the same church i was :)

dinner......... having fried rice and honey chicken - just finished battering the chicken :)

its so great that Jack seems to be loving his new formula!!!

quick story short.. (its in the other thread) Mia went to doc.. doc wants her to start solids, not going to. Got a refferal to the pead, ill see what he says. If any of u dont know.. Mia feeds but still only has 60-80mls and spews 80-90% of that back up. Concentrated urine means shes lacking in abit of fluid etc.

Apart from all that shes good.

Cooked silverside (oh yay for my new slow cooker) and pastabake for dinner! yay for me that dinner wasnt served out of a box!!!

Mmm I'm drooling now! My sushi was good but (no way were we cooking tonight in this heat!).

Anyways, now i've gotta go talk to DH - we had a tiff last night and haven't yet had a chance to talk it through sigh* guess I'll go communicate in adult fashion. Or something like that :p He's grumpy cos he's back at work & spent his holidays with IL's, I'm grumpy cos i've got this head cold, and tired after looking after my poor coldy little bub, and I've gotta have that op. Ah well.

But on the bright side OMG I got the most awesome shot of my little man!!! Guess that makes up for everything huh.

I have my operation today (to get the melanoma removed). I'm so worried about the pain. I think I mentioned the plastic surgeon has to cut a flap in order to stitch me back up so I will end up having something that looks like a shark bite. I guess I'll have 20 odd stitches. My op is at 11am so I have to fast from 5am. Poor Byron. I woke him at 5am to feed him so I could have a coffee (I have 1 coffee every day, straight after the first feed), addicted??? Maybe. How funny.. Every morning I pray that he'll sleep for 1 more hour & this was probably the morning he would've slept till 8am.

Sami you got me worried about the general anesthetic while BF so I googled it & it appears that as long as the anesthesist is aware you're BF they will use the right stuff. It goes out of your system like alcohol does. There may be some traces left in the BM but it won't affect bub. I will make sure I tell the hossy though.

After Byrons sleepy day Monday, he had a not so sleepy day yesterday. I guess you take the good with the bad huh.....

good on you for getting a second opinion :) our paed is a VERY old fashioned man.. says to start food BEFORE 6 months..as there is a NEW study with the childrens hospital he is involved in...stating that because food are being introdced ALOT later (6mths) alot more allergies are popping up... then many years ago...NOT many allergies around due to early introduction of food.... i am in 2 minds about this subject... i hope all goes OK...

well Jack decided this morning at 3.10am he would like to be awake!!!! and to hope into bed with his mumma & dada...and fidget until 5.05am :( then sleep til 6am...feed and go back to sleep!!!! now..mummas eyes are about to bungy out of her head while the little shiat is sound asleep....upside to things...he is drinking ALL of his bottles now :D and pooing by himself..no suppositries needed and it ain't cement consistancy!!! (sorry TMI i know..BUT lately when he poos it is soo exciting :p)

Yeah, I have a different theory re this - Riley is anaphylactic in relation to tree and peanuts - we have Epipens and all that. That is an allergy, I think the study is more about intolerances not allergies ie when something upsets digestive system etc and not necessarily allergic reactions like the hive breakouts, swelling, difficulty breathing etc.

My other theory is that these days there is countless items of prepackaged food that were never available 20 years ago, and so now alot of food gets cross contaminated in processing - not just the nut factor. This ranges from tin goods, snack bars, even the conveniently packed chopped lettuce and prepackaged soup mixes.

Jsut my thoughts, but there is no way I would start a bub on solids at 3 months. Chuckiness is not a reason unless weight is a real issue.

Holly - Giselle was the biggest chucker ever as I ahve previously posted, and drank very little - she is still little to this day, but healthy. I put her onto formula at 4 months along with a bit of b/f still cos we thought it would be heavier and might stay in her tummy more - nope did'nt work. And she continued to chuck until she could walk. Mia looks lovely and just on the small side of the scale - is her weight fine???

SamiH...don't run away and hide..no flaming here hun :) we ALL have differences in opinons...nope not intollerances it is ALLERGIES within the study...was also on the radio/news here not too long ago, our Paed is a well known paed who works at the childrens hospital at Westmead.

I havent heard that one then re the allergies - I am in two minds about the whole thing cos Riley was exclusively b/f for 6 months when he started solids - and get this - he used to eat a little bit of peanut butter when around 3 - but then told me he didn't like it - obviously it was somehow worsening his predisposed allergy through exposure etc - now he is anaphylactic. scary as hell. I get scared when he goes on a play date to someone else's house, and feel like a cotton wool mother when I tell the parents about his allergy and pack his Epipen - scares the life out of the parents too lOL. But I saw it in full swing last Christmas when my SIl gave him a Cadbury choc fruit and nut biscuits without checking with me, and my son just thinking it was choc - man - the only thing that saved him before the hospital was that he finally threw up in the car after about 5 minutes. I tremble thinking about it .....

She was weighed 3 weeks ago and she was 5.2 kilos (3.5 born) and they said shes average just petite?? shes still abit behind on the height which is odd coz me and DP are both 6ft! she had a bottle this morning (70mls) and she would have chucked up about 50ml by the time she was finished. It was everywhere! fountains and fountains. Then she screamed for an hour :(

Hollye...was it you who said the DR/PAED said to use thickener? or farax in her bottle?? have you tried that? did it work? not work??

Yep. Mia was on AR formula but it played havic with her colic coz it was so heavy she couldnt bring up her wind. Didint help the spewing.. it was just thicker. Yeh im not into putting farex in her bottle. The last bit of farex i tried with her ended up being sprayed everywhere in the house. Ive tried everything u could imagine trust me.

I thought she might be Lactose Intolerant but she spews water too.

I just checked Giselle's book ... she was born same as Mia really - 3.57kg - at 11 wks she was 4.86kg and 13 wks 5.085kg - so steady but little gains. I used to take towels out with me instead of bibs to clean up her spew. However, you have said she is screaming, and Giselle never had that - was always a happy chucker - not reflux etc?? I always thought there was no way she could be keeping anything inside her with all the spew ..... it is awful and it stinks!!! I soooo feel for you hun - it sucks!

pead appointment next tuesday at 4:30pm... and $250 bucks later.. *sigh* oh well at least i should get some answers.

Hollye - :hugs: That's great that you are seeking a second opinion if you're not happy with the first opinion. Hopefully the paed can come up with something. But as for weight gains Mia is doing great compared to Maya and my MCHN isn't worried about Maya at all. She was born 4 kg and was weighed today and at 3 months she's 5 kg! So it's taken her 3 months to put on 1 kg! She doesn't spew much so I don't know why her gains are always so small!? Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that to me Mia's weight sounds fine. But the screaming after eating must be hard and I hope the paed can find a solution for that.

Georgi - Hope the operation goes well and you're not in too much pain afterwards. :hugs:

On starting solids: I don't have an opinion but during a mother's group session our MCHN mentioned the study that katones is talking about and said that they now think solids can be started anywhere between 4 and 6 months. And they are looking at the correlation between starting solids later and allergies.

I do agree with what Sami is saying though. That so much of our food nowadays is so processed! That can't be good for us or babies!

I had a nice day at my mothers yesterday. The drive there was OK and I even managed to get Maya to have a couple of naps. But the drive home was absolutely horrible. It's about an hour's drive - a bit longer maybe. And about 10 minutes after I left Maya starting crying. Then a few minutes after that she started absolutely screaming. And I had no idea what to do! I'd just fed and changed her so I knew she couldn't be hungry. And she screamed and screamed and screamed all the way home for an hour!!! I kept thinking maybe I should stop and calm her down but often when I stop I can calm her and then she'll just start up her crying again as soon as I get her back in the car. So I decided to just keep heading home and I kept thinking 'surely she'll stop soon!' Nope she screamed the whole way. And when there was about 10 minutes to go I finally broke down in tears. I just couldn't take it any more. And I was so angry too so I started yelling at her to shut up! And now I feel so crap for getting so angry at her and for being so helpless and not knowing what to do. :( It also makes me never want to drive anywhere with her again! Sorry I know it's not as bad as ops and sick babies, but an hour of screaming while being stuck in a car just really did my head in! :crying:

oh good luck Holly - and wow, that's expensive. I think ours was only $100 - but maybe that's cos it was a follow-up visit? Anyways, I hope you get some good answers and help :hug:

Tanya..hun i know that feeling of a screamer in the car!!!! Jack still hates the car unless someone is sitting in the back talking to him OR i feed him Just before we go and he is asleep/grogy....

Oh Tanya - you are wrong mate - a screaming baby in the car is torture, it raises the blood pressure, makes you lose concentration, you feel hot - and if in traffic, nothing you can do about it! I think you are a marvel lasting for an hour - would of taken me 4 hours to get home :redface: I have a little helper with school holidays who entertains Zander in the backseat and he just loves it. Maybe I should rent him out? :lol::lol:
