Go Ethan!!!!! woo hoo on the rolling :D
Well Z has just hit 3 hrs for his first sleep in his new wrap LOL
Mind you he only slept for 20 in the pram mid morning so he needed to catch up - but 3 hours - seriously Zander .... gotta get him up anyway for school :)
lol woohoo for the wrap Sami! :)
Belfie - Excellant news hun, I am so glad all went well with the u/s. hugs
Well went out on Saturday night with the family and some friends. Well I had asked a friend to hold "V" while I made her bottle and he started to play with her. She looked at me as if to say Ohhh mummy why arent you holding me? Then just burst into tears. DH takes her off our friend and she still cried. Once she was back in my arms she just stopped. So cute... ;) They certainly know their mummies.... Anyway yesterday my SIL came over so I passed "V" over to her, well the same thing happened. Her little lip dropped and looked at me so sad, then cried. Poor bubba. Stopped as soon as she was back with me. I think tho when we were out the crowd was a bit much for her.
Anyway for those of you in VIC I hope you are all keeping safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you. hugs
belfie - Great to hear E's hips are OK! :) Maya was also fascinated by the monitor while they did her u/s. :)
csab - No one else can hold Maya either. She only wants to be with me or her daddy.
Speaking of weight: Someone at MG today told me that a friend of hers dieted during her pregnancy and after giving birth starved herself to lose weight. But what's even worse is that she had a girl and is obsessed with keeping her baby girl skinny! That made me so mad hearing that! Starving yourself to lose weight is bad.. but how can you starve a baby?? That is cruel! I hope someone does something about it.
Katones, don't think you sneaked that by me....TTC Dec!!! Woohoo way to go for you, Bethany's BF will have a little sis or bro!!
Way to go E on rolling, good chap!!
Even better to hear that Z slept for 3 hours!!
Glad that all is well Belfie great news.
I have been madly getting things done, today was dealing with phone and eletric...they need time to think and process and think some more. Lets hope it is all there on Thurs when we get the keys and go there.
Andrew organised with some of the men from church for the big move stuff, 4 men offered to help so it should definately be over short and sweet.
Just gotta get packing....
Kisses to all, stay safe Vic ladies, stay cool everyone else!!
PP yay for E rolling, how has he been today after his needles?
Sami yay for Z sleeping so long in his new wrap what a good little boy
Belfie so good to hear that X's hips are all a-ok, you are obviously very happy mummy.
Tanya I can't believe that woman did that to her little girl.
I'm losing weight slowly, I've joined the body transformation on BB and they say that for b/fing mums it's safe to lose up to 500g per week. At first I started not eating enough and my milk went crappy for a day then I just at a bit more and just at healthier and it's been great. I've lost 2.1kg's since the 1st of Jan.
It's been hot here today as well, but not as bad as Vic, I hope that everyone is keeping safe down south.
hugs xoxo
E has been good today tanya. both my kids sleep well after their needles.
i put him to bed at 130pm and I had to wake him at 415pm to get A from FDC... lol otherwise would prob still be enjoying his aircon lol!
hey ladies,
My Monday celebratory roast is cooking away, so I've some time to post. Thanks for the well-wishes, and yes I am a very happy mummy! I don't think I'd realised just how much of a weight on my shoulders it had felt like. We've got vaccinations tomorrow then mother's group, so should be fun. Plus I got my new "hands-free" pumping bustiere today, I'm so excited (is that sad or what, lol!).
PP - that's great E slept so well and great work on the rolling! Awesome!
AmandaJ - I was looking at the body transformation thingo, i think it's great you're doing it -wish they'd start another one for late bloomers like me lol. Congrats on what you've done!!!
Amy_o - good luck with the packing, i'm sending boxy vibes!
Tanya - that's awful about that girl! Gosh I think i have the oppositve problem, think my MIL thinks I'm always trying to force feed him lol.
csab - thanks for the hugs :D and aaw that's cute re V!
SamiH - haha I was trying to think of something I felt like saying (like different to my usual waffle). It's a poem I have had stuck on stereo for years that I just really like - and that's the first two lines.
Kuraiza - i'm with you on the AF - got mine back last month gah. Also intrigued by your babysitter - is it a relly or friend, or professional babysitter? I haven't been game for a night out yet... but it's our 10th wedding anniversary in May, so wanna get used to MIL doing it by then... (so long as we don't accidentally create #2 eep!).
Ok so gotta put in the rest of htat poem:
"We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whome the pale moon gleams,
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world forever, it seems"
(Arthur O'Shaughnessy)
ok so it's kinda mournful, but I dunno, there's just something about it I like.
Oh and new pic tehehe! Been meaning to take this for months... DH has size 12 feet, so I couldn't resist!
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...1&ppuser=11474
Babysitter was a neighbour. She's very nice and loves babies so she has been begging to let her babysit. I can't blame her for having Jude awake so late past his bedtime, she probably had trouble settling him. It must be hard to settle someone elses baby.
Hmmm I wonder if I just don't eat enough to sustain breast feeding. Jude is almost entirely formula fed during the day, now. Breastfeeding has been an ongoing battle for me for the entire 4 months. I didn't know I was supposed to eat more.
Jude's stats:
Birth: 2.56kg Length 46cm
4 Months: 5.19kg Length 60cm
Jude just started trying to sit up. Don't know what he'll do if he succeeds, he can't sit up on his own yet. He is rolling all over the place, now. Front, side, belly, back, otherside ... he's a busy boy.
amy - All the best with the packing. I hope it doesn't take too long.
PP - Maya was sleepy after the first vaccinations, but this second lot she ended up being very unsettled. :(
belfie - I hope X's vaccinations go OK.
kuraiza - I've found that I naturally want to eat more while breast feeding. I think you need to consume an extra 500 calories or something like that. So not heaps more food just a bit more.
Someone sent me "The Mom Song". Have you guys seen it? I thought it was hilarious! :) If you haven't seen it you can google it and find it on YouTube.
Same here - first time very sleepy- second time very unsettled first 12 hours.
kuraiza - good on your boy - definately dont worry about tummy time too much if he can roll around - he needs control for that and obviously has it! Zander is still lazy cos everything gets bought to him, so now school is back and Giselle starts preschool too, he will just have to learn to do it on his own getting his toys!
I am meeting some other Canberra BB'ers for coffee this morning, so betta get packed.
seems quiet in here atm! c'mon lets make some noise :D I guess Amy is busy packing and Georgi was in Sydney... and Hollye's been busy
SamiH - hope you had fun with the other BB'ers. Meeting in real life... hmm wow. I should make sure I never do that, then I could pretend I look like a blonde supermodel ha!
Tanya - love the Mom song too!
Kuraiza - that's great re your neighbour. I've one who would probably do it but I haven't been quite game yet, and I don't know her all that well (or I'm just a control freak making excuses lol).
Had our 4 month vacc this morning. I think I've the quietest council centre going round - it was SO quick. I'd planned to feed him while we waited... but nuh-uh, didn't have time! No notable reactions so far, touch wood. Off to mother's group this arvo...
have a good one everyone!
It is quiet in here today. I hope that means everyone is having a good day!
I had mums and bubs yoga today! I love it! I feel like at least I am doing some sort of exercise! And Maya seems to enjoy it too. :)
belfie - I hope X doesn't have any bad reactions to the vaccinations!
Sami - How was your catchup with other BB members?
Question: How long is your bub up for in between naps during the day?
Maya is generally up for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. But sometimes it's longer if I struggle to get her to sleep or if I go out somewhere! She sometimes can be up for 3 or 4 hours, maybe even longer if I go out.
P.S. I had a really weird dream where I suddenly remembered that I had actually had twins and I had totally forgotten about my son. But when I found him he was all happy and very chubby! And I gave him big cuddles and was apologising to him but I realised he had been fine without me. Dunno what that dream meant?! But when I woke I had to think if I actually had one or two kids.
Just a quicikie - hubby away and all the night time busy-ness is calling
Tanya - Tresillian say at 6 months they generally up for 2 hours, down for 1.5 hours - at the moment Zander is up for around 1.5hrs on avg - this varies if we are out, and often now after he gets up in the morning he is back in bed after an hour for a nap. But on avg 1.5 hours.
Zander has only catnapped and been whingy alllllll day (apart from when we were out this morning and he was dream baby fall asleep in my arms without crying baby) - I thought he must have a tummy ache - I was right, he did a humungus poo and then smiled again. And now has been asleep for an hour, whereas he was waking every 20 - 30 minutes crying.
BB coffee was weird, but great, some other nice ladies I can have catch up coffee and chats too - Belfie we have seen your FB pics too hun so know that you def have blonde hair and supermodel potential ;)
Hmm, so much for short - back later when kids in bed ...
Yes I am lost in the world of boxes....and to make matters worse Bethany doesn't want to be left or put down for more than about 5mins....It has been a LLLLLOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGG day here, tell you what DH better hurry home. I have no idea why she has the grizzles. I take her from room to room with me, talk to her. She is just grizzly and difficult...sigh...
Tanya Julian is usually awake for between 1 and a half and 2 hours as well then sleeps for maybe an hour or hour and a half just depending.
Belfie glad to hear that the needles went well, hopefully X won't have a reaction.
Sami hmmm weird lol, hope you both had a great time. Julian was like Z the other day and he did a huge poo and was right again, must be something in the air.
Kurazia Jude's stats are looking great, and what a clever boy rolling all over the place, you never know he may start sitting soon, my first was an early sitter and walker, what a lovely neighbour you have as well.
Not much going on here, will be hopefully going and getting Julian's immunisations next week. What is everyone doing for Valentines Day on Saturday?
hugs xoxo
Valentine's Day - pft - nuthin! Well, not true, I have a voucher for an express facial/eyebrow & lip wax - so having that done! I had a bit of an argument with Dh this morning, i know heaps of others do it, but I find it hard with a bub to b/f plus get R ready for school and get them fed and happy - oh, AND Have a shower - Dunno how you do it Amanda, I know they older they get the easier .... oh well. I just feel like I look like shyte when I walk out the door and I hate not having my hair respectable etc.
So, what I was getting to is that he better buy me a big bunch of "I appreciate everything you do and not just on Valentines Day" flowers. I know he felt awful, and left me a msg of niceties which made me cry (Maybe AF is coming back and I hormonal??) He is away until Thrusday night.
Hi.. We got back from Sydney last night but I've been busy cleaning & washing clothes today.
BJ cried the whole way to Sydney & the whole way home. We are never getting on a plane with him again. Well not till he's heaps older anyway. Man it was a nightmare!
oooh crazy day. you know - one of those days where you look back and it was just a bit mental? It started with the 5am feed (gah), followed by back to bed... overslept... got up late, raced out the door to vaccs (SamiH - withOUT shower and WITH greasy lank limp hair!)... off to shops, bought some pressies for sisters, into eensy teensy cramped post office, X starting to squawk decided to take everything home & fill it out (to drop in post office later)... home by 12 managed to feed X AND double pump (using new hands-free pumping bra)... lunch, fill out cards & pressie, realise the express post bag is too small :wall:... ran out of time to shower... out to mother's group - turns out everyone else was sick but she'd lost my number so couldn't call to cancel... sat there for a polite but shortish length of time (not offered ANY drink btw) then X a bit grumpy/unsettled... back to different post office for new express bag... package & send. Home, settle sleepy X... doorbell friend arrived with her 9 m.o.... said she'd stay for half an hour 0, X rouses, unsettled, unhappy... (2.5 hours later....). X starting to get very grumpy... feed... express... X back down, does a big spew in his cot... didn't realise how big until I picked him up and saw the spew all over the back of his head!!! Friend still hasn't realised that maybe going would be good about now DH arrives home (yay) - he get's himself dinner quickly (he's playing basketball, so back out in an hour or so... I say right... 15 mins, you take Mr X now very grizzly & unsettled and I'm gonna shower!!!! Then fed X, expressed again... got myself dinner at 9pm... and now i'm gonna relax.
Geesh, why did I go to mother's group? Stupid huh! But the scary thing is that I'm sure this is nothing for those with more than 1 child.. I prolly just don't know how good I got it! SamiH - I do not know how you get out hte house & do everything you do!
As for Valentine's Day - yeah that's the day my DH is LEAST guaranteed to get flowers lol. I have a hot stone massage voucher i must use... mebbe I'll book that!
SamiHdoes this mean I have a good personality and a great sense of humour? :p potential my a$s, I'm there baby!:
Belfie we have seen your FB pics too hun so know that you def have blonde hair and supermodel potential
Amy - good luck packing, that would be tough with a grizzly baby
AmandaJ - what are you doing for Valentines day?
*sigh* this thread is cheap therapy :) I love posting here
Back later GOTTA SHOWER IF I CAN HAVE TIME :) Z napping, quickie before school run
I am MAJORLY ****ed at Telstra.......MAJORLY!!!
im here.. ive been reading but too busy to post. The same now.. gotta feed Mia and then heading out to my mums to spend some time with my brother b4 he goes back to QLD.
all good here..
mwah xoxoxooxoxox
telstra have redeemed themselves and are now back in my good graces.
Here you go PP :)
What a spunk!
Oh and belfie - Riley asked if the other Xander was grabbing things with his hands like our Zander - I said I would ask but yes I do believe so ;)
Zander just started blowing raspberries a couple of days ago - so much drool now ewwww but Riley loves the sloppy kisses hmmm
SamiH - lol Xander doesn't grab anything... cos he's permanently mittened  gosh I'm a mean mummy! Seriously, I'm trying to give him heaps of "hand" time, cos I was a bit worried that he's not super grabby - he's getting better I think, will actually hold things. To start with he'd just stare at these weird hand things that had replaced his mittens! ::lol:
amy - yay for telstra
hollye - MWAH!
 re cheap therapy - you'll all need therapy by the time I'm done!
SamiH..i got the blue wrap just like your green one :D except guess what....lil houdini can still get his hands/arms free!!!!
I am sooo tired! Maya woke 3 times again last night! I guess she's still making up for the period where she barely ate!
Anyway, had Maya's 4 month check up today and I was so relieved that she put on 220 grams in the last two weeks (prior to that she had only put on 120 grams in two weeks). I thought she surely must have put more weight on cos she's definitely been eating more!
Maya's stats:
Weight: Birth - 4.01 kgs 4 months - 5.345 kgs
Length: Birth - 51 cms 4 months - 61 cms
H/C: Birth - 35 cm 4 months - 40 cms
So she's now quite small compared to other babies - though she started out one of the biggest.
I made another appointment at 5 months cos I just want to make sure that she continues with her little but steady weight gains.
I've also been looking into MCN! I really want to get some but just have no idea what to get. I've read heaps about them but feel like there's too much info out there and it's overwhelming. I don't know how to choose. Plus they aren't cheap and DH isn't happy with the price of them.
Anyway, gotta go.. Maya's just woken. Will try and do personals later.
Tanya
Your Dh will never be happy with the initial cost of them
Remind him how many nappies you go through in a week and the cost of them
If you get on special MCN then you can get about 2 mcn to 1 pack of sposies ($30 approx).
yo uwill need about 18 to be safe to start out .
Look on buy4 baby for some preloved you can get great specials or have a baby beehinds party.
I am keeping it simple now and only have fitteds and covers (baby beehinds) and a few AIO/pockets (Itti bitti and Bumgenius) for when we are out and about (less bulky).
I think i had about 60 nappies at one stage and a lot preloved - a lot new and prob spent close to $700. this will do my 2 children for 3 years each (so thinking if you use 1 pak nappies every 2 weeks that is 28 packs a year x 6 years (2 children) a@ $30 a pack = $5040. So obviously $700 is a hind sight smaller amount.
But i agree it is hard to see this when you see the inital set up costs.
Anyhow Mayas weight is going well! she is putting on weight and that is the most important thing!
Tanya. I spent the entire 9 months of pregnancy researching cloth nappies, it did my head in. My advice with cloth nappies is start off simple.
I started with 6 BumGenius v3.0 one-size pocket nappy (which are an excellent, no-fail MCN). They now cost $38 new. I now have 8 BGs, 2 for backup.
I use fleecy cotton flats from Big W (thinner than terry) at night. It's really not difficult to fold flats and they're so cheap that you can build your MCN collection slowly. The flats are so easy that my husband was the one who suggested we didn't really need any more MCNs.
With the flats, I don't even use a pin to keep them closed. I simply use a PUL cover over the top and it all stays perfectly in place. You need only 3 PUL covers in circulation because you can let them air dry and reuse them without washing for a while.
Get 2 buckets with lids and you're done.
How simple is that?
Also, I recommend Nurture Nappies as the most reliable online store. I've had trouble with some of the others.
Bethany rolled back to front!!!!!!!
I missed the main event, I was in the other room packing when the cries of distress started, I came in and she was on her tummy (hence the cries, hates being on tummy at the moment!!) what a clever little possum. She also particiapted a bit at Kindermusik this morning and not just watched the other babies (they are all older she is the youngest by a bit) she was trying to mimic them. Love watching these little sponges grow....
Ok back to the boxes.....
Tomorrow will probably be my last BB day for a while... :(
hmmm cloth nappies...
well when i was preggers i sewed a HEAP of flanny flats and bought PUL covers BUT also bought afew itti bittis..(one of my faves :D ) and found AIO's much better than flats...which i used once i would say...now they are wipe up cloths....
Definatly worth buying in the long run.... we have NOT bought any sposies since buying NB sized sposies.. and i won't buy them now either...i have even gotten my MIL using MCN's now..and she was against it all in the beginning but seeing i won't supply sposies she has no choice but to use cloth :D
much better for bub and better on my hip pocket :D
I got rid of all of my BBH PUL covers...they just don't allow bubs bum to 'breath' we use minky/fleece covers which acts the same as wool does and allows air to circulate unlike PUL which traps it..and it cause horrid rashes due to Jack sweating badly...
i just got a lay-by out that i had with clothes for Jack in it...he is in size 0!!!!!
Just had to quickly post - Maya rolled for the first time!! Front to back! :) I knew she'd do that roll first cos she HATES being on her tummy.
BBL
woo hoo Maya!!!!
woo hoo - go Maya! :baby:
woohoo for all the baby rolling!
the initial setup of cloth depends on how much u get. i must admit that ive spent ard $700 by now but its enough to do FT, in 1 way ive overspent but we plan to have more kids so its worthwhile in the longrun. flats did my head in, & DP was kinda reluctant with them but he's k with mcns. work out whats best for u, but personally i prefer pockets
dragons been having a bit of baby eczema on his face, sometimes its good sometimes its bad. im not sure what to do except to put cream on it when i get a chance. he doesnt like it much but theres not much i can do abt it. just hope it clears soon :(
exam tomoro & im not ready for it! best be off...
:crossfingers::goodluck:
sending you lots of luck for your exam teruteru!!!
amy - Woohoo on Bethany rolling too! :)
PP - Thanks for the BBH party suggestion. I had no idea they did that. I might see if I can find some mums interested in a party. The problem my DH has with the cost is that at the moment I just want to get a few to try and it's a lot of money to just try them if I decide I don't like them. But I've tried to tell him that I can resell them if I decide I don't want to go down the cloth nappy road.
kuraiza - Yeah it's doing my head in now. I can't get over how many different types there are! Plus some need covers, some don't, some need inserts, some don't, etc etc.. arghhhhhh I would love to just get a few of each kind to try out - but just trying them would cost me heaps. Oh and I've been wondering how many covers I would need. I thought I needed one cover per nappy! 3 doesn't sound too bad or too expensive.
katones - Thanks for the suggestion of fleece covers.
teru - All the best with your exam!
Hi to everyone else! Gotta get back to dinner.
Hi all,
Belfie - Your welcome hun. I am glad X is holding things now. I have been showing V to hold her hands up and telling her come / up and now she holds her hands out to be picked up hehehe. So cuteeeee!!!!!! She gave me a cheeky little squeal last night when I put her to bed, then closed her eyes and went to sleep, of course after her smile.
Georgi - I hope BJ has finally settled, did he cry all the way bacl home too? hugs
Sami - I stopped BF around 6weeks ago, I just didnt think I had the time to keep it up considering V wanted to eat all day long practically even tho she wanted to still sleep all night as well as I also wanted her to put on more weight. I kept thinking that it seemed to be my milk. I still often question myself if I did the right thing or not, sometimes I feel like I failed her considering everything, that not BF tops it off.
Well another busy week for me, have not been home much at all. Tomorrow is V's U/S for her heart, I am starting to feel nervous about it, its just that we have waited so long to have this done I dont feel prepared anymore. if that makes sense. Anyway fingers crossed all goes ok for my precious baby girl. You know I have enjoyed the not worrying for a while.
If anyone wants a swaddleme wrap cheap = i have a spare here. Just PM me
Well E is much asleep yay
Ashley omg is another story 1.5 hrs of screaming everynight before sleep... i dont get it!!!
