BELFIE OMG, you were in my dream this afternoon. I slept for 1.5hrs today while DH looked after BJ (as he got me up every 3hours overnight I was so tired). I dreamt that I was taking a short cut through my brothers house, to the beach (NOTE: I don't have a brother), and you were there cutting his hair.. You were his personal hairdresser & you couldn't find a babysitter for X so he was there just sitting in a walker. I walked in & said hi to you, then said Hi Xander. You said "who are you" and you didn't realise that I was Georgi from BB, even though you'd met me before. Then I woke up. Weird huh... You'd at least think I'd dream of Hollye considering she is a hairdresser

TANYA BJ sleeps in his cot, in his room, which is just down our hallway. There is a toilet & bathroom between us. We have both doors open and have no problem hearing him. DH is also slightly deaf in one hear, and he still hears him just fine. One night I accidently left my door closed & I still heard him. I have a single bed in his room too. That way I can still feed him in bed. It's not a massive room, though it still fits with his cot, tallboy & change table. I do agree with Sami. We evicted BJ after 3 nights in our room cause every little noise woke us up.

HAHAHAH that is just classic I love it! While I'm not a hairdresser I have cut DH's hair (under false pretences... I told him I'd cut hair before and he believed me... then halfway through the cut, I told him it wasn't true! MWAHAHA). So saying, I'm a bit worried about your subconcious!... oh and I hope I looked hot!

SamiH - will be interested to see what you find out re allergies/intolerances. Might have to stalk you... my, wouldn't that be a change

Kuraiza - lol I'm a linen addict. If you're buying new cot sheets, avoid the kidsline ones... I've found they've pilled something shocking. All my others (I'm not saying how many I have) are pure cotton & are wearing much better. BigW had some pure cotton ones nice & cheap a while back. And ditto on your q to AmandaJ, I have no idea how any of you with more than 1 do it... boggles my mind.

Tanya - OMG I'm so jealous your bb's didn't change when your milk came in. Mine were the size of boulders it was horrific. Truly, i hate having big bb's, just makes me feel like a moo cow. I loved it when i was C cup (but also gravity hadn't played it's cruel tricks back then either lol).

Think I've just got agreement that DH will do WW online with me... we might start once I've done the BAS. Would be good to have both of us doing it... then one day we'll look as hot as we do in my avi!

Tanya, perhaps maya in your room - is she a light sleeper - maybe she wakes if she hears you guys stirring, or maybe you get up to her as soon as she stirs when she might settle back to sleep??? Just throwing it into the mix for food for thought.
I've wondered that too. But she was doing better with sleeping until recently. Also because I am partially deaf I don't hear her until she makes enough noise and my DH sleeps very soundly. So Maya has to be awake enough to make enough noise to wake us iykwim. But I do wonder if it is possible that we wake her? And I worry that we won't hear her until she's inconsolable if we put her in another room.

What makes you think Z is ready for food? I keep wondering if Maya is nearly ready but then have read that you really shouldn't start babies on food before 6 months.

My bbs changed during pg but didn't change again after birth. Now I have your C cup bbs! I'm happy cos I used to have A cup - as in nothing much there! And now I actually have some cleavage!

All bubs are different. Everyone will tell you different. Some say that if u wait until 6 months it can have a big impact on their speech. U will come across different opinions in this where ever u go. YOU have to make the choice as she is ur daughter. If shes ready now, then go for it. 4 or so weeks isnt going to make an ounce of difference. I KNOW Mia WILL be on solids before 6 months. HTH

I started Jack on solids/well slop..as 'I' knew he was ready. If you count him 'watching' every mouthful we took, opening his mouth when i put food near him and him making chewing/licking kinda motions (you know what i mean!!!!) he was definatly ready. I don't push him though if he doesn't want a bar of it...
He has also had milk arrowroot biccies (loves them!!!!) although gets abit excited and takes GIANT chomps...
I made him steamed potatoes/pumpkin and mashed them
I started him at around 4 1/2 months FULLY but prior to that he was on them from around 4 months every 2nd day.

Jack has started squealing/grunting now....rather cute BUT very annoying when he now takes FOREVER to drink his bottle as he has to stop and grunt/squeal....
He has also started waking between 2-4am!!!! NOT a good idea Jackie-boy...dummy gets put back in and he is off to sleep...UNLESS he just wants to play then he is in bed with me..and knods off VERY quickly.

Hmmmmm BIG boobies yep got them here to girls...
"G" cups here which i hate!!!!! although i think they have gone down maybe a cup size BUT i am too lazy to go and get refitted right now they were "E's" prior to pregnancy but haven't gone back to my lovely "E's" i would love that!!!!

Jack still can't roll from his back to his tummy he gets 1/2 way and gets stuck....

other than that not much happening here..
I am deciding now wether i want to extend my maternity leave up until August...must talk to DH more about this...

A quick word on feeding: They're on the verge of bringing it back to 4 - 6 months as the optimal time to introduce solids. They change their minds every decade.

I resettled Jude at 1.40am last night, I was tooo tired to deal with feeding. I was pretty surprised that he went right back to sleep. I guess I'll try that again.

Re : feeding - Amanda will also know this from having her babies

with DS1 - it was exclusive b/f until 6 months and then introduce solids after that - from MCHN and my GP (2003)

with DD - MCHN recommended introducing solids a bit earlier with her cos she was so damn chucky to see whether anything stayed in her tummy! (2005)

Zander - at my last clinic visit MCHN said recommendation is now anytime from 4 - 6 months - just check for signs of readiness (which I know from having 2 other kids)

This MCHN I trust - she was the same one I saw with Riley and who ran our first mothers group - she is great .

So Tanya, yes it has changed to 4 - 6 months - I am going to try and extend it out a bit cos of all of our allergies - that is when they recommend 6 months exclusive if possible.

    Hope some of that helps!

with my older 2 i started them when they were ready...have done EXACTLY the same with Jack.
Our paed is one of the top guys at the childrens hospital and he explained about food allergies and starting food to me at our last visit. I explained to him how we have started and he said it is best if you go with the flow and start when bub is interested and you think they are ready.
    It is also personal choice.

kat - do you have any allergies etc in your family histories you need to be mindful of? I think cos we have the double combo that is why it continues to be recommended to us to start a bit later (being family history and demonstrated allergies etc in our other two children). I don't have a paed, my kids have never seen one - never needed to - so maybe where the different info filters from.

Yeah I know they are on the verge of changing when to start food to 4-6 months. But I read articles by the ABA and WHO and they both strongly recommend people don't start solids before 6 months. Also on the subject of allergies I was told that there might be less allergies if food is started earlier rather than later but then other people say allergies are more likely to occur if you start too early. I guess there's just no answer really!

kuraiza - That's great that Jude went back to sleep at 1am. For me resettling takes longer than feeding so I often just feed when maybe I could resettle. Yesterday Maya slept from 10pm till 4am again, so I'm pretty happy with that.

katones - Maya also can't roll from back to tummy yet. And Maya is also squealing now. She does it when she's happy and it should be cute but it's very ear piercing!

testing testing... bah, just lost my last post which had SEEMED to post successfully!

Anyways, got my new sports bra today (Enell) and it is AWESOME! It made me look like I've lost 5kg (YAY ) and feels great! Bit tricky to do up, but once it's on, the girls ain't goin' anywhere (and no, it's not underwire).

Wondering about volumes that others give their bubs by bottle. I was double checking how much X is "supposed" to have... and I worked out it would be about 320mls for 4 feeds a day. That seems like a crazy insane amount to me. He usually takes anywhere between 200-250ml. Plus i just re-weighed him at home, and he's 8.5kg, the little boofer - which puts him on 90th percentile! So who actually follows those formulas (if anyone) and how big are their babies?? maybe it's different with FF compared to EBM? doesn't make much sense to me!

Oh and I don't think X is ready for solids at all yet. We love our highchair tho

belfie - oh them "reccomendations" on how much they should be having. ATM i think Mia is meant to be having 180 or so 6 times a day.. she does mayb... 120-160. Shes still not a big eater and if i listened to the tin its says 240!! i dont think she will EVER drink 240 mls, which would be about 270 made up.. 270?? thats mad!!

re solids - i really dont care, when or why u girls start ur bubs on solids. Im not here to judge, i dont care if it was 2 weeks or 6 months.... caring is 0%. BUT i do love hearing the stories like Katones of what they are munching on.. oh them biccies are devine, im likley to eat them all before Mia gets one. lol bad mummy!

Mia's high chair is on layby.. so it wount be long for us and the solids thing. Right now im so buggered im glad im not, bottles are so much easier.

kuraiza- i was doing bachelor of commerce majoring in accounting/finance. im so glad all my studies are done now as studying with this little one can be impossible at times cos he wants so much attention always wants to play. but i cant really complain as i failed 3 units last year otherwise i wouldnt have this problem. luckily i did all my assessments while still pg but just had to defer my nov exams until now, just hope i pass everything this time round (will find out next week) so i can grad in april

re kids: we want another by april next yr so that they're only 1yr apart in school. would any1 know whats the cut-off date for school entry in victoria? ive been trying to find out more abt ovulation & bf cos i really dont want to wean him for the sake of conceiving...i think we're still planning on having 4 boys

tanya- seems like maya dont mind the long car trip now where does ur mum live? we have to drive 45 mins to my mums too, we try to avoid peak hour cos he hates it when the cars not moving. did u end up giving cloth nappies a try?

re sleeping: at night he sleeps in his cot next to our bed until the morning feed, when he comes into our bed. during the day he sleeps on the floor next to me in his "playroom". if he's upstairs & we're down i just turn on the monitor JIC

re fittings: never had 1 done, still feel embarrassed getting bras. i dread shopping for them, get overwhelmed by them even though i only get black ones. i went through a stage where i hated the bonds singlet but now i love them so much, need to get a few more while the bigW sale still on.

sami- never really looked into introducing food & allergies/skin problems, i jst thought not too early and not too late? both DP & i have eczema, and ive got hayfever & slight allergy to shellfish...but i think im gonna take a plunge this week & see how things go. Dragon likes the taste of icypoles & tomatoes too, hope he doesnt develop a sweet tooth like us!!

belfie- what linen would u recommend to get? ive got NONE lol. would like material which is natural as his eczema comes & goes. i know its not recommended but he's been sleeping on a pillow since 1st week.

katones- i live ur avi, got stumped when i saw it & was thinking whos this new person LOL. dragon loves to talk which feeding, can be rather annoying esp when it decides to spray all over him & me!!

amanda, hollye- have i missed anyone?

    anyhoo...
our trip away turned out better then expected even though we got off to a really bad start. FIRSTLY when we got to the airport carpark the car window got stuck & wouldnt wind back up. luckily DPs a panelbeater & we had tools in the car so he could quickly fix it. NEXT we nearly missed our flight (it was too early in the morning to comprehend what the staff were telling us at check-in). luckily i heard my name on the PA system & we rushed our butts off. they nearly didnt let us on the plane!! THEN dragon wouldnt stop crying. i was thinking everyone's gonna kill me if he doesnt stop. he stopped jst before take-off & slept all the way thru
the weekend was a blur but its good to see my ILs even thou i cant communicate with them (they dont speak english!)
flight back was a completely different story, he slept all the way thru but there was another crying baby on board. cant complain abt them now as ive been in the same position & it can b pretty stressful! we figured that it not so much the plane trip that had stirred him up but the fact that we were rushing & he feels my heart rate go up so he gets stressed. also the countless unfamiliar faces added to his discomfort. at least now we know to give ourselves plenty of time. it was good that we had this domestic flight is preparation for the overseas flight coming weekend!
the next few days i gotta unpack, wash & repack; change the fishtank water and do some housecleaning. hopefully i'll have time to rearrange the playroom too.

im buggered now, its so longgggg post

    Busy for a few days

I like to share info and experiences with you ladies and offer advice if and when I can - I don't think I am judgemental either. Zander is are 1 - 4 weeks older than other bubs in here - hence the talk of solids by me - as it pertains to me.

Teruteru: Congrats on your studies and best of luck for your exam results. What language do your ILs speak? Are you going to encourage your kids to be bilingual? I desperately wish I spoke another language. I lived in Japan for 2 years and failed miserably to learn Japanese, although I did learn to read 2 of the character sets and some of the third. I think my language centre in my brain is not connected quite right. Now I've been learning Esperanto, because it's easy to learn (although not actually spoken anywhere in the world, therefore not overly useful).

I'm thinking of seeing if Jude's interested in Solids. I have a feeling he is (he's so interested in watching us eat and lately he chews when I am chewing), but if I offer food and he's plainly not interested I won't push the issue. He's great with his vowels but not really moving on to consonants, so I'm wondering if eating will help develop his speech (I've heard it does). NOT that I'm worried at all about his speech, I just want to hear him say Ma Ma, although he has said "mon m?re" a few times, because apparently he thinks he's French

I'll let you all in on a little secret. I didn't speak until the day before my 3rd birthday and now I don't shut up. My great-uncle didn't speak until he was 4, and he turned out to be a genius, and Einstein didn't speak until he was 5 (so i've heard, but I probably should research that claim).

    Yep Sami solids for us was DS1 2001 (4mths), DS2 2003 (4mths), DS3 2005 (4-6mths), DS4 (6mths), it always seems to be changing.

Well Julian had his physio appointment yesterday, he's head can turn to the left, but he's got a tilt to the left now which we've got exercises for and hopefully in a few months it will be better. He got his needles this morning too, so will have to see how he goes.

    hugs xoxo

    Hi All,

Sorry but just a quick one, I am going to a WW meeting today. First one. So need to leave soon.

I have been having a bit of trouble getting into BB, is anyone else experiencing it too? I end up getting frustrated and go off doing something else.

Anyway last week my mum had a heart attack and was transferred to RPA, anyway they did tests there and told her that if she was at RPA when she had it then they would have been able to be on top of it quicker, so ended up sending her home the next day. Anyway she has been told to be resting for 2weeks and then rehab. She seems ok atm.

V has been abit unsettled of a night, well more like wanting to play. Anyway will catch up when I get back, if I can get on anyway.

Well as I tried to post this earlier, my update is I am now a WW member, hehehe.

Belfie, I know you sadi that you were doing WW online, are you posting in the forums? If you are what is your user name going to be?
Ohh and as for feeding with all of mine they would look up eyes wide open licking lips to eat, hehehe. Which was at 4mths. V isnt showing any signs of being interested just yet, but I am expecting her too soon. hugs
