Sami - What makes you think she might crawl early? I actually think she'd be running around now if she could! :lol: She's just so eager to stand and walk and do things!

katones - You just added another reason why I am not in a hurry to start solids. :lol:

kuraiza - I hope you feel better after that sleep! :) Maya slept for 9 hours in a row on Tuesday night and OMG I felt soooooooooooo good afterwards. Then last night she woke twice and undid all my caught up sleep. :doh: Maya is now starting to take a bottle so this weekend I was thinking of getting my DH to do a night feed while I sleep!!! :) I just hope she'll take a bottle in the middle of the night!

amy - :hugs: I have often felt like it's all too hard so you're not alone in your feelings!

This afternoon I gave Maya a teething ring to play with while feeding and she fed better. :dance: She kept pulling on and off - which she does normally anyway. But she kept coming back on when normally she'd just stop at some point. It was pretty funny to watch though cos she'd pull off and put the ring in her mouth and then decide she wants boob so she'd try and put BOTH in her mouth at the same time. :lol: Anyway, I just hope giving her something to play with keeps working. :pray:

Tanya - she looks really strong and her rolling is very deliberate as in - she decides and goes - my DD was like that and crawling early, and the littler babies in my MG with DS1 were all getting around by 8 months! - yet my boys were/are still spinning themselves around the floor clockwise on their sides like breakdancers at that age :ROFL: Does she sit up very well?? Zander has got the idea of holding his ankles so stabilise a bit so he's getting there - if centred to start he can do 20 seconds - but then he gets all excited and wobbly lol.

The littler ones often find it easier too cos they aren't carrying rolls/weight.

I bought Zander a new ball today cos our others are outside and feral for babies - oh dear, the simple things are the best hey! He loves it!

thanks girls, sometimes you just need someone to say that it is ok that everything sucks!! I still feel pretty crappy but Bethany has improved, I gave her some panadol she had a big sleep and has been all smiles and giggles ever since, pretty cute. I hope she figures out how to roll over soon though she can go back to front but not the other way and she gets frustrated and well you can fill in the rest, I spend half my life flipping her over like a burger. :D

Man i wish Mia would STOP rolling. im sick of chasing her and putting her back in the centre of the floor, she nearly ended up under the TV unit today! She is getting quite full on already.. *sigh* she pushes off on her feet when on her tummy so yeh she does a 360 and doesnt move much forward and then starts growling. lol

Hollye - lol that's too funny re Mia growling... I'm kinda picturing Princess Bear now! X can only roll back to front right side... a few of the kids in my MG can grab their feet & suck their toes... X can't get near 'em... too much blubber in the way methinks. We're wondering how long it'll be until he starts some new rolling moves.

Amy_o - aaww I totally understand re needing ppl to say it's ok everything sucks. We have an official name for it in my household, it's called a "whinge session" and you both just have to take it in turns to complain about stuff. Basically "it sucks that....". Inevitably you descend complaining about the ridiculous and then you start to feel better weirdly enough. Well it works for me anyways... :doh:

SamiH - i want to buy X a new ball now.. mebbe I should have been seeing confessions of a shopaholic hey!?!? We've just realised we've got Gold Class tickets we were given that have to be used by the end of next month... so I'm gonna see if I can work something out with MIL... and if there's anything decent showing!!!

Kuraiza - eep 8 months is an awful long time with no decent sleep! You poor thing! I'm so glad you had a decent night after all this time.

Not much new here. Just did my yoga & balance exercises on the wii fit so feeling mighty noble. X is occasionally a bit teething grizzly but mostly ok... I'm wondering when his weight gain will slow down... weighed him at home... 9.1kg :o occasionally worry that I'm over-feeding him. When does the gain usually start to slow?

NOW - lol - he is huge belfie - I just checked Riley's book cos he was a big boy - at 6 months he was 9.15kg - and he was b/f exclusively until 6 months too. Riley was also tall too so whilst he looked rolly polly - he didnt look overly chubber IYKWIM.

Movies tomorrow - trying desperately to express - and I suck at it - got 100 mls in the freezer - and just got 60 so hopefully i can get another 50 tomorrow morning so he can justhave the fridge stuff - never tried him on defrosted EBM - how naive does that sound with my third kid - never used defrosted EBM :ROFL:

Gotta finish lunch packing, poor Zander will only get 30 mins before getting pulled out of the cot again - I am getting a b/f necklace on Monday Tanya to try and help Z with his feeding, I am a bit over it at the moment - just only on for a couple of minutes ....

wow belfie! he is a chubber :) there weight is meant to slow down abit around 4-5 months. Dont stress about it. It will all come off once he becomes mobile.

not much happening here, very quiet actually.
I tried letting jack sleep AGAIN last night NOT wrapped...he woke at 1ish..then 4ish...then was in bed with me :( then after his 6am feed he was back in his bed then decided to fart around so i put him in with me and he went off to sleep..on his belly...i got up then after a while i heard him awake...and my bed was saturated!!!!! he had pee'd through EVERYTHING!!!!!
He has now taken to at times sucking his thumb!!! NOT something i like so..out goes the thumb and in with the dummy when i catch him...

9.1kg? My niece was 10kgs last time I saw her, she was 15 months old. I thought she was a heffalump. That sounds rude given the lack of voice inflection in writing, but I think he must be cuddly and cute.

Just another quick one from me.

Sorry havent been on, have had a busy week. V had her immunisation yesterday and hasnt been well with it. Was up most of the night with her, poor little bubba girl. Also ended up with yet another migraine today, so not the best of company right now.

V doesnt like the taste of Nurofen or Panadol. What a challenge getting her to have either of them without her spitting it all back out again.

Happy Birthday Georgi from down here in Sydney. HUgs. Hope you had the best day. My DH is next week.

I hope everyone else is doing ok and so are all the bubs. Anyway must head off, V still very whingey. hugs

Ohh and finally got results from my BT's a while ago, and definately have an ANA positve blood clotting disorder, they want me to start taking aspirin everyday now.hmmmm. Not good at taking anything.

question for you girls...
Jack is still in our room :rolleyes: DH does NOT want him in his own room he is too paranoid..me i want him in his own room..it is only across the hall 2/3 steps from our room..how do i go about 'getting' him in his room while making DH feel ok about it?

so is the cot still right next to the bed or does he sleep in it where ever now???

Cot is still right next to my side of the bed...i am just sick of sleeping like a spastic most night...cause i am CONSTANTLY checking jack...and the only time he wakes is when he isn't wrapped...

Katones: I don't know but I think you should find out specifically what your husband is worried about and talk it through, maybe take him to see the MCHN for some expert advice. You can easily hear Jack with his room so close to yours, but that might not really be what's troubling your husband ... it could be more complicated. Maybe your husband likes being close to Jack at night because he misses him when he's at work during the day. :dunno:

Georgi: Happy birthday, where you be?

Csab: Can you take the 100mg baby aspirin? I was taking that for a while when I was ... oh long story. Anyway, it's a big enough dose of aspirin to stop platelets forming.

Katones - If DH is worried as someone mentioned earlier, get a good baby monitor. DH will still be able to hear every everything if that is what he is worried about. Also being just across the hall he will still be able to hear him. Its amazing how you can hear every little noise even in the next room. hugs

Kuraiza - Whenever I am pgnt, I am supposed to take baby aspirin (cardiprin), which is what I will be taking again. I already knew that there was a ANA positive result earlier, but they wanted to redo all the BT's after having V. So now the results are in, they just dont know what sort it is atm. They may never know. All I know now is that I must start taking it while not being pgnt. Ohh well. Just not sure if I am ready to start taking it everyday now for the rest of my life IYKWIM.

belfie - Maybe you can get X to share some of his weight with Maya. :lol: She went from 5.3 kgs at 4 months to 5.4 kgs at 5 months!

Sami - Where are you getting your b/f necklace from? I like the idea of it but with my quick internet search saw that they are $35 which I think is expensive - specially when I don't know if it'll actually work or not. Enjoy your movie tomorrow. :)

katones - I'm the opposite. I want Maya to use her thumb to settle herself so that she can self settle cos sometimes she has throws a tantrum with the dummy! Oh and I agree monitor could be a good idea. We use a monitor now that Maya is in her own room. I think my DH likes having it there for reassurance and I need it there cos I am partially deaf.

kuraiza - There's a b/f necklace on the ABA shop site. Or do a search for b/f necklace. But basically from what I can see it's just a bunch of different shaped and coloured beads you put around your neck. hmm.. maybe I can make my own...

csab - I hope V is feeling better soon. :hug: I can empathise with the migrane. I had one last night. :(

Yesterday I realised that I have been highly stressed for such a long time now. First with her sleep (which is better at the moment BTW) and now her feeding. And that stress prob isn't helping with my milk flow and production. So I'm trying to relax more and not worry about her weight! If I hadn't gotten her weighed I would still be thinking everything's fine. Though I can't help worry a little and I am going to take her to the doctors. But my plan for now is to try and get her to feed longer and express whenever I can. I can't get much out but she'll happily drink the few mls I get out which is a few extra calories.

Then this afternoon I noticed my right boob is rock hard in a part of it so now I think I have a blocked duct. :wall: So now I have something new to stress about! I'm trying to massage it, using heat packs, trying to express, trying to get Maya to feed from it but it's not budging. :wall:

Tanya - Sending lots of hugs. How did you go with feeding Maya, while you had a migraine. That was one of my concerns when BFing V, that I wouldnt be able to as they get that bad. Which was another reason to get her used to the bottle so that DH could help out on days like that. Hope your BB's feel better soon. You are doing a wonderful job sweety. Maya is 1.1kgs heavier than V. I hope Maya picks up with her weight soon hun.

csab - Yeah feeding with a migrane was tough! I fed her while lying in bed with the lights off and my DH settled her for sleep.

Tanya - I know a thumb sucker (hes now 12) he has the worst buck teeth and his thumb is smaller than the other one coz he was a compulsive thumb sucker. He sucked it until he went to high school. His parents tried everything to turn him off it but nothing helped. So my point being.. a dummy is easier to get rid of in the long run, its not like they will have a dummy in primary school so they will gt rid of it before their adult teeth start to come through.

Tanya - I'm getting the necklace of friend who is between kiddies - she is 6 months preg - so i can borrow hers for a few months - it is a Mothers Direct one - you could make your own - I think the safety issue is that you put the beads onto a leather strap just in case the littlies pull it and it breaks. I wouldn't pay $35 for one either - it's a lot when you could make your own for prob $15 - a few big bright chunky beads with a couple of textures and away you go.

Having said that though, I felt like giving up tonight .. :crying: The last few nights it has taken me ages to have a let down so poor Zander is sucking for a minute (doesnt sound long, but it sooooo is) - and then he keeps pulling off and crying cos the milk isn't coming - tonight we were both in tears - I had to put him on the floor though and walk away - didn't wanna lose it in front of the other kids cos they would be very confused - so left him a screaming mess on the floor - but the kids and DH tried to cheer him up whilst I had a sook in the bathroom and came back out. We got there eventually - tomorrow is another day ... :dunno:

Ahh, feels better to get it out! Dh just doesnt understand the stress of it all sometimes :rolleyes:

katones - just saw your thread - but what is DH worried about with Jack a couple of metres away? Realistically no different response in time if he was crying either - is he worried about the time taken for you to get to Jack so DH would wake up more or something? I dont think you would need a monitor for that distance, you can keep yourself awake tryinig to listen to them through the monitor - and then still get up and check anyway :lol:

I'm feeling angry because I think the expectation for all women to breast feed for a year or more is unreasonable and it creates all this hurt, pain, frustration, guilt and feelings of failure for all of us who have struggled with it.

I've noticed lately a large number of other mothers with children aged 4 months+ who have given up breast feeding because it's become too stressful and emotional to keep struggling past the lack of let down and disappointed cries of their tiny babies who don't understand why mummy isn't feeding them any more.

Even though I gave it up completely last week or 2, I found myself still trying to breastfeed Jude yesterday and he wouldn't put his lips on my nipple and I still feel that pang of complete failure and regret.

Sami I'm having a hard time with my let down as well today, tonight Julian fed for a total of 4mins and was pulling off and screaming :(. Have a great day tomorrow at the movies as well.

Julian is now rolling all the time even in his sleep, so I'm having to roll him back when he wakes up screaming and wondering how he got there, lol. I had a bad night last night with him, he woke every 2hrs wanting a feed, so was very tired today.
