Avasmum - How were all your get togethers? Sounds like you've been pretty busy.

belfie - Where did you get your family portrait done? I've been thinking about getting one done too. I had photos done of M when she was a couple of months old but they came back terrible. How's X doing now?

fluff - Hello. I've been wondering where you went. Wow Jack is taking steps! How are you?

Sami - How's work going? How are your gorgeous kids going?

M is STILL sick! FOUR weeks of sick. Late last week she developed an awful sounding barking cough. Someone suggested getting a vaporiser so I got one on Friday and I think it's helped her to sleep better. So at least that's something. She does seem to be happier and sleeping better. She just has that awful cough. And she is eating HEAPS! I wonder if it's to make up for the period where she wasn't eating well. I'm just wondering how she can fit all that food in?!

I got a letter on Friday saying there will be an inspection this week. Nice notice. So now I have to clean up the place.

Feeling quite stressed at the moment cos I've got so much to do and not sure how I'll get everything done. Still got that paid work to do. Have done quite a lot of it but still have heaps to go. They prob expect it to be finished by now. Today I'm taking M to be weighed again. Prob a stupid time to get her weighed after she's been sick for so long and not eating properly. Then got to get my licence renewed & pick up some photos.

Tanya - poor M i hope she gets better soon, have you tried using the vicks baby balsam, put it on her chest AND the soles of her feet before bed along with using the vaporiser and it should help HEAPS... well it does with Ava.. not sure why the feet but it works.
All the get togethers went well, poor Ava was very tired yesterday but still had ppl here so was quite a bit of rocking to sleep as she wanted to be where the action was, her eczema has flared up so taking her to the dr's today to get some better cream etc.
I hope everything calms down a bit for you and M, try not to stress too much it's not good for us you know...
Hope your inspection goes well and you get a decent licence photo... lol

fluff-a-holic - ohhh first steps, i can't wait for Ava to start walking... YAY Jack

AFM - well the party went well, quite messy with drunk ppl but nothing broken and everyone behaved themselves, Ava slept through all the music etc which considering she wasn't herself was quite a feat.
Got a Dr's appt for her today about her eczema so hopefully i can get that all fixed up, all the invites are out for her b'day, now trying to sort out a cake... HMMMMM
Well better get going, got tidying to do, one of the MG girls is coming to pick up her lil boys b'day invite designs (should start my own business) and got a friend coming from gippsland for a visit.. hmmm BUSY day.

    Hope everyone else is well.

Just a quick update about lil miss Ava's eczema.
Went to the doctors and they said everything i had been trying was great and how wonderful it was to have a parent that didn't come in asking for steroids the minute the eczema showed up, i was very proud of myself...
I have had to give in and get a steroid cream for the poor miss though as around her mouth is REALLY starting to irritate her and i only need to apply a VERY SMALL amount twice a day for no longer than a week, have also bought her some QV wash to make sure that it doesn't come back on her elbows and knees (which i cleared without cream)
Just in case these are some of the things i tried that seem to work:

    * Moisturiser every day on the area, especially after a bath
    * Bathing every 2nd to 3rd day so not to dry out her skin
    * Avoiding over eating of acidic foods (tomato etc), she still eats these but not every day
    * A CLEAN bath, no soaps or baby wash except for her hair (now going to use QV)

There are other things but these are the main things that have worked for Ava, other people have said apply vaseline to the area before eating and after face washing, and to cut out wheat.

Other than that she is slowly getting back to normal after a huge week, daddy is taking us out for tea tonight as he has to work away for the rest of the week so Ava might be having a restaurant dinner... lol
Am putting her in a baby show on Saturday which should be funny, we took her to the same one last time for a bit of a laugh and she won champion baby out of 30kids.
No expectations and am definitely NOT a show mum, will chuck her in some cute jeans and nice top and let her do her own charming... hehe if she doesn't get anything she doesn't get anything, one of the girls from MG would like to come aswell so should be a nice social day!

Hope everyone is well... so much for quick... oooppppssss sorry

Ooohhh sorry also forgot dummy's and teething can make the eczema worse but it can be hard to obviously avoid these, the dummy i use for Ava is quite strange looking but has BIG holes so it doesn't cover much skin, the DR said these are GREAT for babies with eczema, will see if i can add a pic to a blog at some stage.

glad it has cleared - there are a few of us in the thread that have thrown around all the pros/cons and tried and tested methods for eczema - i have 2 kids with it, belfie's little man has it, teruteru's bub has it - steroid cream is the only thing that will totally clear it up if it has gotten bad - and then you should clear it up totally and start fresh like a clean slate so to speak. Hope Ava's is not too bad and you can keep it under control.

Me, I am just considering wrapping DD's knees at nighttime cos she is scratching with the cold weather and heating despite all the slathering of lotions and potions

    X says.... HAPPY 11 MONTHS Z!
SamiH - GL with DD's eczema, it's just foul when they scratch & scratch isn't it

Avasmum#1 - that's great that it's starting to improve, hopefully the cream will clear it up for good!

hiya to everyone... hope you're all well. We're about to have an eczema review in a few weeks, but I think he'll say keep doing the same thing. And we're off to RCH allergy clinic on friday, that should be interesting. Dunno if they'll do anything, I read somewhere that they don't like doing skinpr!ck tests on under 1's.

Tanya - family portrait as done by a work colleague of DH's who is a serious amateur IYKWIM.... so hopefully they'll be ok, but either way, it's free so that's awesome! I think he's forgotten what bubs are like tho, cos he reckons X was the fastest crawler he's ever seen... well I've been at my MG and X has way too much junk in the trunk to be the fastest!

My FIL just booked a week away for him & MIL ... the first week I'm back at work. Huh!?!? What is with that? Then they changed it... but not after making a big song & dance about it. Feeling that they're not gonna be reliable babysitters after all and might have to find some daycare... hmm.
anyway better go found my kitchen under all those dishes.

    Unhappy :(

Hi girls. Just popping on very quickly cos I want to share with you what I am suddenly going through. I've never told you that I actually have an illness called Menieres Disease (you can google it but basically it's vertigo attacks caused by a problem with the inner ear). I was diagnosed with it about 6 years ago after seeing doctor after doctor after doctor. Anyway, with medication I managed to get it all under control and then off the meds I was able to get pregnant and have my gorgeous Maya. Towards the end of pregnancy I started to get symptoms of my illness and I had a small attack not long after she was born, but to go on my meds I would have had to give up BFing. Then yesterday I arrived home, parked the car, got out and had a severe attack and collapsed in the drive way. I am so lucky it didn't happen while I was driving or holding Maya. I am also very lucky my neighbours were home and they called my DH and paramedics. I was given a dose of something to stop the severe vertigo and vomiting. It was then that I decided to give up the BF and go back on my meds. I saw a DR this morning and have got my meds, so hopefully it'll sort itself out soon. Unfortunately there is little understood about menieres disease - they have no idea what causes it, how to fix it, etc. So even on these meds there's a chance it won't get better, but since it worked before for me I am hoping it'll work now. Anyway, I am EXTREMELY sad that I have to give up the BF even though I know it's the best thing for both of us now. We had our last feed this morning and I can't stop shedding tears over it. I am also scared about having another attack (I'm so vulnerable and helpless in that state) and I'm scared about possibly hurting Maya. Fingers crossed the meds will work and I won't have to go through it again!

Tanya - i am so sorry to hear that, i know you would never do anything to intentionally hurt Maya and this must be so hard for you,i was soooo annoyed when i had to give up breastfeeding due to an extended stay in hospital.
If you ever need to talk feel free to PM me or chat on FB, i could never imaging what you are going through and i hope the meds help and kick in ASAP for you.
How is M feeling, is she any better?
I hope you have plenty of support around you while you go through all of this, i know we are all here for you though!

Thanks to everyone else about the eczema, don't think i had joined when that was previously discussed so if anyone had any other helpful natural hints etc please feel free to PM them to me.

AFM got a big day, trying to clean up after the wind yesterday, the dogs got into the rubbish bags so it's a mess out there, gotta go food shopping for A and I as Mark is going away for 3 nights and we have the house all to ourselves.. maybe i can actually have some ME time without being asked what i did today!
Final deposit on the house tomorrow, YAY it's all moving along so quickly.
Anyway better get going and get my arse into gear, Mark will be home after work while we are at MG so gotta make sure all is done b4 then.

Tanya my thoughts are with you and your family, take it easy and try not to worry yourself about hurting Maya, i'm sure it would never happen.
Fingers crossed the meds kick in for you soon, will def google it so i can get a better idea of what your going through...

Hey chickens...... Can you believe my lil man turns 1 tomorrow! We're having around 35 people here for his birthday party on Saturday. Lots of relo's from Sydney & friends from mothers group.

My trip to Sydney was full on. I haven't studied in so long, so lots of learning fried my brain. I came back with a Sydney cold, as I normally do when I go down there, but I'm pretty much better now.

DH & MIL handled BJ just fine while I was away. When I got back BJ was all over me. The poor lil mite must've missed his mummy.

Just wanted to pop in & say Gday.

TANYA Big hugs for you hun. I know how hard weaning can be, without the stresses of illness. I'm sure everything will be fine. Don't be hard on yourself xxx

Georgi - happy birthday for BJ! that's gone so quick, I can't believe he's 1 already! hope you have a wonderful party

Tanya - I'm so sorry to hear your meniere's has flared up, and after everything you've been through with BF'ing, to have to stop now for this you've done an awesome job and you should be so proud of yourself. I hope the meds help get things back under control, that must have been so scary now you've got a little one to worry about but it sounsd like you're making the best decision for everyone in this circumstance. Pls don't beat yourself up over it, you've been doing a wonderful amazing job for M. Incidentally, my DH has something similar (they couldn't decide if it was meniere's until he'd had it long enough - so they diagnosed vestibular neuronitis - but that's not supposed to recur, and his does.. hmm), so yeah, I know the dizzy world by assocation and it's a nasty place to be. Hope you're feeling better.

AFM we're off to the allergy clinic at RCH tomorrow. 9am appt near the city... eep, it's like we're preparing for a trek across the desert the amount of stuff we've got! Lol we're probably get there and they'll say nope he's too young bring him back later... hopefully it's informative anyway. He's been very itchy this week and we're not allowed to give antihistamines, so be good to get this over with. No signs of walking yet (phew!) but has mastered our 2 stairs, both up & down very gracelessly... and he's doing a great yoga downward dog... butt in the air... such a big butt

happy friday for tomoz! and hope everyone else is going well

Georgi - welcome back and BJ, ohhh how exciting all the parties will be starting soon...
Hope your over your Sydney Cold soon, i hate feeling sick!

[M]umma[M]ia - congrats to M on the steps, how scary is it that they will all be up and walking soon... our lil ones are not so little anymore.

Belfie - good luck at the allergy clinic, hopefully like you said you can get some more information that might help, poor little man.
Ava also does that butt in air legs out straight move.. looks so odd but i guess it's the next stage in the balance game... hehehe

Hello everyone else i have missed, hope you and the lil ones are doing well.

AFM - am 21wks today and feeling pretty good.
Ava and I have been home alone since Wed night and Mark wont be back til Sat.. to be honest i am quite enjoying it.. YAY not being hassled about house work etc is wonderful.
Having a day at home with Ava today to play on the tramp and clean a bit as we are going to a baby show in Epping tomorrow with a girl from MG.
Should be a bit of fun and a nice day out for Ava, bought her a pretty new dress (pics on FB - let me know what you think) and will see how she goes.
She won champion baby when she went to the last one but i have NO expectations, just a chance to get out of the house... lol
Paid the final deposit for our land yesterday so waiting on titles etc and the land will be all ours.. hehe SCARY!

Well better get going and give the midget her breakfast, bought her her first pair of big girl PJ's yesterday and they look adorable, shes not my LITTLE girl anymore..

    allergy clinic update

poor X really got jackpot genetics with you and J hey
people like us just shouldn't breed
Well it was a loooooong morning. 9am appt and we finished up just before 1! He was such a good boy. And yes its definitely eczema and dermagraphia that we're looking at. They did the skin testing - on the really really good side, fine with dogs (yay!), milk (more yay!), soy, peanuts. Very very slight reaction to cats but nothing to worry about. Bigger reactions to eggs, cashews and hazelnuts. So we've been advised to steer clear of tree nuts & egs for 6 months then follow-up appointment. Glad we discovered eggs before his birthday!!! He hated the skin testing, not while they did it, but once the itching as the welts came up... poor little man. AND they gave me a anaphylasis sheet for my MIL listing the foods he shouldn't eat, and the response if he does... and big letters RCH... woo hoo! She wanted to give him eggs 2 months ago too! Boy am I feeling vindicated that i said no.Oh and they said they can't rule out milk making his skin worse, but we just have to watch that. Oh and our skin/bath routine has been turned upside down! Baths EVERY day (apparently that's the new thing for eczema now) and bleach baths... yes, actual bleach!!! (but very mild) and different creams, elocon now and just sorbolene cos his skin isn't as dry now.

We were also advised to go see a speech path about his food problems. He's at the point that he just will not put ANY finger food in his mouth - too many memories of gagging & vomiting I think... so they said that needs some assessment otherwise we'll have a 2y.o. eating purees on our hands! And they were very struck by the snorting, and said we need to see an ENT about that - but they did a thorough exam of mouth, ears & nose and all is structurally sound, but she kept commenting on the snorts (which I just don't notice any more lol). And she couldn't get over how strong he was... she sees lots of smaller bubs (allergy-bubs with failure to thrive), and she said oh i'm not used to such big strong boys lol.

So it was useful... DH & I are both surprisingly stuffed - geez need a nana nap lol. Have a great weekend everyone.

BJ! OMG ONE already! Enjoy the party.

belfie - I had no idea what vestibular neuronitis was. Just looked it up. If he gets it repeatedly then that's not good. Maybe he needs to see an ENT again? As for X and all the testing that sounds so full on. What a trooper he is!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and kind words.

I'm still feeling unwell and scared about having another sudden attack. I've also realised that my supply really must have been low. It hasn't been hard to wean at all. I've had to express once and only 20 mls from each side. That's it. My doctor prepared me and told me to get cabbage leaves, take panadol if I needed it, to express a little every day. Nope.. last BF on Wednesday morning, expressed a bit on Thursday morning cos I was a little uncomfortable and that's it. I haven't been sore or uncomfortable at all since Thursday morning. I've also noticed M's nappies are very wet and heavy. They used to be like that and then they stopped. I just thought that was normal. Now that she's on EBM + FF she's back to having heavy, wet nappies. I think she really hasn't been having enough milk from me. It's kinda sad to know that now. That she hasn't been having enough milk for all these months. At the same time maybe she'll finally start gaining some weight again. At the weigh appointment on Monday she had lost 200 grams.

On top of the Menieres I'm also Vitamin D deficient apparently. I'm not sure what that means yet?

On Tuesday I noticed a little spec on M's gums and her tooth is poking through a little more. I have no idea when it'll surface? But yay! Finally a tooth!!!
