Heavenly - seems to mean physical maturation happens a bit sooner than more Anglo-types, which can be nice for bragging-rights, but I'd much rather have resting-rights than running after a small mobile child like I did with DS, and now appears to be happening again, grrrr...it's cute, though. My sister and I had very good physical dexterity very early on, as have all my little cousins in Central America, so it's nice to know I'm passing on a bit of my late grandmother alongGlad we start swimming in a couple of weeks, where lots of safety messages are taught and can be used on dry land - really helped with DS with going down stairs etc.
Just got back from a local lake that has a beach - DS was happy for a swim, and I had a little dip before dealing with a little girl again. She was tired and is all tuckered out. Tomorrow we're heading out early and then I have my GF coming over for dinner - haven't seen her since last Feb and until 2008, we'd lost contact for 10 years after being the tightest of friends. It's been ace to reconnect, even if it's mainly been email contact!
Oz - smitten's the word, hey? Acest kids in the world!
Anyhoo, gonna see about sewing some little leggings for my chicklet (not that she needs them this week...). Hope everyone has an ace weekend, moving into the 3 month age![]()
Just checking in to see how everyone is doing? This thread is so quiet.
All is great here, growing up far to quickly though.
Whats happened to Chepie, Cam, LD and V-love? I hope that all is well.
Hey girls!
Well Ella's on the losec now for the reflux, though havent notcied much of a change yet. Also has a case of the snuffles -awful when they cant breathe properly and are a bit miserable!
The paed told me to start Ella on solids in a few weeks to , so will be interesting to see if this has any effect!
Been very busy gong to a few different mums groups - have no idea how I will ever go back to work - lol.
Been away for a week - was weird, not sure I can be bothered rehashing it in a Boo Hoo thread, was bad enough in real life! I went to my parents where my sister was, but a childhood friend of my mum's was there, and therein lay the issues...a weird egg who kept making sly comments to my sister about how my daughter cries too much and that my son is 'bad'...WTF?? The weekend was great when I ditched DS with my sister and parents (and biatch features) and took the girl and me to the fire brigade championships.
Heavenly - my mum's from Honduras, so right next doorMy rellos are very Mayan, rather than from Spanish heritage.
Jen - yep, thanks for asking, T is all better! This time last week I was still getting quizzed by my dad as to whether I'd be taking her to a doctor, and before I knew it there was no wheezing and she's fine
The leggings are very cute and I'm going to make some more and get better at this sewing caper.
I won't be introducing solids any time soon, and probably not at 6 months (DS was about 10 months before he started eating non-BM in any kind of earnest). My babies have to at least be sitting unassisted for that caper! I don't use the guidelines, I go more by developmental cues. I won't be doing Farex (again) because I've heard too many constipation stories and the iron in the food doesn't absorb into their systems anyway - there's a lot less iron in breastmilk, but at least all of it is absorbed and I can count on that. She watches us eat and not with any greater interest than she watches us use to loo, have a shower, etc - it's a developmental tendency for them to start watching and copying from abotu 4 months, not a need to be eating solids. I've got no reason to believe that my milk isn't providing what she needs, and also for that reason I don't feed solids before BFing - if the solids fill the belly up, then that's a bellyful of limited minerals and vitamins that largely won't be absorbed anyway, whereas a breastfeed provides a broad spectrum dose of good bacteria as well as vits and minerals that haven't yet been quantified by scientific types. Plus, I love the old tenet - food is fun till they're one
T is moving backwards in a kind of commando crawling motion - not much, but when she gets it, it's backwards!
I dunked her in the caravan park pool where I stayed with the brigade team - twice! She dealt with it very well and I had been priming her for weeks for it. I'm really looking forward to babyswim lessons next week with my next water baby
Better go, DS has picked up a lovely habit of spitting from a GF's son and I want to kick him outside NOW...
