Wow seems like everyone is back on board again after Christmas and New Years. I hope you all had a good one.
AFU: Well I haven't noticed anymore of my hair falling out than normal and Tara still has most of her hair as well, she has only lost some around the front (kind of like a receeding hairline) and nothing from the back.
Things are going really well with us now, it is amazing how much changes but Tara is now doing the following:
1. Sleeping 12 hours every night, going to bed at 9.30pm
2. Only having 3 feeds per day (I know doesn't seem much but she is generally having between 250ml-270mls per feed)
3. Now giggles and also has learnt how to blow raspberries
4. Loves the sound of her own voice, when she is awake she chats all the time
We have also just returned from our MCHN visit and she now weighs in at 5.6kgs so an increase of 800grams on 4 weeks, based on this number she should be double her birth weight plus some extra at her next weigh in. So even though we are on the 3 feeds a day she is above average in her weight so the MCHN couldn't demand we go back to 4 or 5 feeds a day as she is putting on weight. Just goes to show that every baby is different in what they want and I have started giving her boiled water between feeds to make sure she stays hydrated.
Finally we also have a Mother's Group organised, after 3 1/2 months I'll finally get to meet other Mothers. Just goes to show how being in a rural town can delay things, but I'm looking forward to it as Tara can use having some additional stimulation as she really loves to be entertained when she is awake.
im so excited serenity had her feed at 8:30pm and woke up at 7am and concidering shes only 7weeks corrected i think thats really good...i think shes about 4.5 kg now but gotta go weigh her again...poor dh though was playing on the comp decided to stay up til 2 for her fed but she never woke up lol
Heavenly: Gotta love DH's and the plan to stay awake for feeds or to get a specific feed. My DH had this great plan to do Tara's 5.30am feed (she did this for a couple of days) and then her was going to get motivated and go for a morning run.... Well after only waking a couple of mornings at the designated time DH had decided, she then started to sleep through and now generally doesn't wake until he has left for work.... Congrats on the good sleep though, hopefully now that she knows how to sleep through she will continue for you. Tara has been sleeping though for about 4 weeks now, so even with Serenity's adjusted age she seems right on track and great news about her weight as well.
Oz- how did your scan and blood tests go? hope your ok hun!
My hairs been falling out too! I think its because it got thicker when I was pregnant and just my hormones changing.
Ella has fir hair and its hardly grown at all, though hasn't lost any either.
Little miss piggy weighs 6kgs now! Have had issues this week with her refusing to feed as her reflux has gotten bad again. Its just so awful when shes in pain and there is NOTHING i can do! The doc has upped her zantac so hoping this will do the trick in getting her settled again. Shes sleeping between 6-8 hours overnight, though still has the occasional feed in between. She has slept in her cot the past few nights - I cant believe how emotional I have been getting over it, but my sis needs the bassinet back as they are moving so i need to get her used to it - cant believe how fast the munchkin is growing up!
DH is in a band and I am taking Ella to see him pplay for the first time. She is going to wear her shirt that says "I'm with the band" so she will look like a mini groupie! Hopefully shes in a good mood as its a late one, though not too far from home if I need to leave.
anyways, I intended on coming on and doing persies but my mind is already pooped!
Erybery we have been putting DD in her cot at night now and I still cant pack the bassinet away lol. I hope her reflux settles down, she has kept you on your toes right fromt he start hasn't she lol.
Woo hoo for all these babies sleeping so well and for the daddies who stay up to feed them.
Maya I think my DD is ace to lol, I cant believe I have been lucky enough to have 2 awesome little people. I am so totally smitten by her.
DD has rolled from back to tummy twice now, I am pretty sure it is just a fluke though. Ultrasound looked normal so waiting on blood test results over the weekend.
Serenity rolled like that once so I'm pretty sure was a fluke for her
I have serenity slepping in her lil bouncy chair thing cos it's upright seems to work well she's been getting reflux too so that helps keep things down abit
No rolling here yet (except for maybe once...was sure I'd left her on her back, but could have been mistaken!), but we've got commando friggin crawling starting early again It's definitely the beginnings of forward movement cos she's moving all over her lambskin. Sometimes it's great having some indigenous heritage from the Americas, and sometimes...it's just plain alarming! DS started at 4.5 months to be crawling...
Better make a MCHN appt, I guess - didn't make one at the last appointment, forgot with the attachment issues!
Ery - hair doesn't thicken during pg, it just stops falling out, then with the hormonal changes at about this interval the hairs that didn't fall out are getting replaced by new follicles...and fall out all over the place!
Heavenly - seems to mean physical maturation happens a bit sooner than more Anglo-types, which can be nice for bragging-rights, but I'd much rather have resting-rights than running after a small mobile child like I did with DS, and now appears to be happening again, grrrr...it's cute, though. My sister and I had very good physical dexterity very early on, as have all my little cousins in Central America, so it's nice to know I'm passing on a bit of my late grandmother along Glad we start swimming in a couple of weeks, where lots of safety messages are taught and can be used on dry land - really helped with DS with going down stairs etc.
Just got back from a local lake that has a beach - DS was happy for a swim, and I had a little dip before dealing with a little girl again. She was tired and is all tuckered out. Tomorrow we're heading out early and then I have my GF coming over for dinner - haven't seen her since last Feb and until 2008, we'd lost contact for 10 years after being the tightest of friends. It's been ace to reconnect, even if it's mainly been email contact!
Oz - smitten's the word, hey? Acest kids in the world!
Anyhoo, gonna see about sewing some little leggings for my chicklet (not that she needs them this week...). Hope everyone has an ace weekend, moving into the 3 month age
Maya how did you go with the leggings? I have some baby legs for DD but they are so huge.
How is everyone going? All these poor bubs with reflux. DD is a bit of a chucker but a happy one so am not worried. I think she is just a bit of a gutz lol. She is now rolling daily so maybe its not a fluke.
Ery how did Ella go watching DH's band? She would have been the star lol
Wow am I tired recently, I think all this running around leading up to and just after Xmas has finally hit. I just can't seem to get motivated and just want to sleep.... But that's not happening in our house during the day...
Can't complain though as Tara is still sleeping through and has now changed her sleep pattern as she now goes down at 8.30pm and wakes up at 8.00am the next morning. She has also got into a pretty good daytime routine of feed, play, nap, wake up, play, nap, feed etc although her naps are generally only about 45 minutes but she has about 5 a day. Still on 3 feeds a day as well although we are still getting some chucking after her feeds (even with using the thickener) nothing like before but still enough to generally create a load of washing everyday. I'm hoping that once we start her on solids next month that the amount of chucking will decrease, although I'm tipping the washing won't...
Also Tara's new thing at the moment is sticking out her tongue, she has been copying Daddy and now does it all the time. Although I think this will help her with her talking and eating solids as it helps strengthens the musles in her tongue, and what a chatterbox she has become as well. It seems that whenever her eyes are open she is chatting away, even when she is feeding she will talk to me. It's so funny as she has a happy voice, a complaining voice, a grumpy voice and an I just can't be bothered voice, she has also worked out different sounds she can make as well so we have just started to get the high pitched squeal as well.
I hope all your little ones are doing well, gaining weight and becoming so much more fun. Wow it is hard to believe our little ones have hit 3 months already.....
Well DD is rolling everywhere now, some days I come into the lounge room and she is happily on her belly looking around and others whinging because she cant roll back over. She is also never in the same place I left her.
Well I spoke too soon... The malt has begun and I am really shedding heaps of hair at the moment. My shower plug get full of hair nearly everyday and I have hair all over the house as well.....
Congrats on all our babies now reaching the 3 month milestone . Tara still hasn't started to roll as yet but maybe this is because she absolutely hates being on her stomach and screams the house down when put that way, and also I have probably been a bit lax making her have tummy time due to her reflux and not wanting her to spewy everywhere. Although I think we have the reflux under control (thanks to thickener) and I have found I can generally put her flat on the floor after feeding without anything coming back up.
We also seem to have now found a good routine, nights have always been pretty good but during the day it has been a bit of hit and miss. But she now wakes up around 7.45am and has her bottle about 8am, goes back to sleep around 9-9.15am and sleeps normally until 12pm (fantastic for me to then be able to get all my housework done). She then has her next feed between 12.30-1pm, has a play and then back down for a nap, she then wakes up for another play of around 1 1/2 to 2 hours, has another nap and then has a feed around 5.00-5.30pm. Then nap again, playtime - including a bath if needed and then finally a small bottle at 8pm and off to bed by 8.30pm.
I'm starting to get all the stuff together as well to start her on solids next month as well which hopefully she will take to. Is everyone else going to start solids at 4 months or wait until 6 months?? I think Tara will be ready for it by 4 months as she is already used to having thickened formula so should be a good transition and she also loves watching me & DH eat and copying the mouth action..
I hope all of your little ones are thriving and giving you all lots of smiles and giggles and just so much love.
I was wanting to wait till 6 months as the current research suggests this is best and also because its one less thing for me to worry about at the moment, but the Paed had told me to start Ella on solids in about 3 weeks which would make her abiut 4.5 months as he thinks this should help the reflux!
Poor baby had her needles last night - it makes me get so distressed seeing her scream and today had a temperature for the first time! I was told at 6 months they are giving the swine flu vacc - but unsure whether to have her done or not, what bout you gals?
izzy isnt getting any needles till 12 months, and even if she was getting them, there'd be no way in hell she'd be getting the swone flu vacc, noone knows the long term efects of it, im not going to be injecting a rushed vaccine into her little body just because they tell me to
Thats my thoughts about the swine flu vac too - I am just not comfortable with it but the nurses at the clinic were bullin the mothers of babies who were altready 6 months into getting it done. I just want ammo when I go for her 6 month needles to say "no" its my choice!
Thanks!
