I guess I am tired and worried about Aiden ..... my upbringing was interesting to say the least and very lonely, I guess my own insecurities are coming through (sorry probably not making much sense)..... but thanks again for the advice :D

Missy Moo isn't all together herself today, says my mummy instinct. Goopy eye, not feeding much, she was red last night (for no apparent reason) and isn't signalling much today when she needs to do a poo (I could tell in advance when she was going to do one because of the way she'd wriggle). So, we'll see what tonight brings. She's still cute as a button (whatever that means!).
Better go check on defrosting dinner...hope everyone else is hanging in there!

Cheapie unfortunately my GF's weren't a big help lol, both of them have little girls and they never had any issues. Does Aiden act out at any particular time, like when your feeding?

hi girls! chepie doesnt sound like ur having too much fun, wish i could offer some suggestions but charlottes been really really good.
i'd try the rewards chart and urban baby have timeout pads on special for $30 atm, theyre mats the kids sit on with like a traffic light timer so they know when their time is up and when it is it plays a cool jingle.if they get off it before the time is up a little alarm sounds so that u know theyre up (handy for when u cant keep eyes on them sneaking off coz ur busy with bubs) not sure if timeout is something ur ok with, but if u are these things look fantastic!

Hi Skybie - thanks hun... we use time out and sit down with Aiden and talk about what has just happened and talk about his actions ..... I like the sound of those mats! Things are getting better as Dh had to work yesterday so it was just the 3 of us and Aiden was pretty good.... He is an awesome child and a gentle soul I guess he is just expressing himself - maybe not the best way but he is only 2!!! I think I need to chill out about it more and lack of sleep doesn't help as you all know .... we will get there.. How are things going for you babe?

Thanks for the advice and help mummies!!! Hope everyone is well .... BBL Charlotte is sleeping and Aiden is playing outside with dad and its time for lunch!! Haven't had breakfast yet :lol: (me that is!)

The Zantac appears to be working well at the moment but I'm afraid of speaking to soon and getting another screamathon from her. BUT yesteray would definetly have been our most calm day with only 1 unsettled period yesterday evening between 6-10 so if its the zantac working then I am claiming it to be a miracle drug. She even slept through from 1:30am-6:30am this morning!!!! I can tell you my BB's were most uncomfortable but the sleep I got mae it all worth it! hehehe. Hopefully will have another good today, though shes already woken twice with a pain in her tummy thoigh when Ive put her down again shes gone straight off to sleep. DH took her stool sample to the lab this morning s hopefully will know soon if she lactose intolerant or not. I think not as the frequent pooing seems to be slowing down so most likely just the reflux!

Chepie - Daddy Time will be really important for your DS from here on in; new baby or not, actually!
Night was good - T fed better than the previous night and was happier, despite a bout of thrush she has. Her eye seems better, too. Had my first shower with her today. Nappy change beckons, then have to get the hell out of the house if DP doesn't. He's looking for different work and missed the boat with an opportunity that came up (long story) and despite my full support and encouragement (I wrote half of his friggin resume!) I'm copping some wonderful attitude. Gimme the 3 yo any day!!

am having supply and feeding issues again, jades not putting on weight now, and my supple is dwindling, she is still not sucking effectively and am back to formula top ups to stop the screaming. the communicty nurse is great, so helpful and supportive of whatever decision i make. however and i know this may go against everything u all believe, but i think if things dont sort themselves out by the end of the week i will just ff... i dont want to and it makes me sad to think i may have to, but no matter what my heart says about bonding and the benefits of bf, my mind is telling me a full and nourished baby is the utmost important thing in this situation and as much as it breaks my heart to ff, it breaks my heart to think shes hungry too so i will just have to do what i hve to do if i cant sort this asap.

Jen - ask Barb in the BFing support forum and/or hire a LC - if it's something a LC can help you resolve for about $100, the it's worth a red hot go, no? Also, the ABA helpline is free, even just to talk to someone about how you feel about what's happening and where you're headed - the counsellors are excellent and available 24hrs. It's very rarely an 'easy' decision :hug:

jen hunny, do whats right for you, just make sure when u make a decision its what U want. charlottes a formula bub and she's no less intelligent than the breast fed bubbas in her kinder group and she rarely gets sick!

AFM little miss is 6 and a half weeks old already!!! i cant believe how quickly she's growing. Still having issues sleeping, but im sure that'll resolve itself one day. i've cut out coffee to see if that helps, she's still up a million times a night but seems to be easy to resettle compaired to when i was drinking coffee.
Izzy is much more alert and seems to be recognising people a little bit more, still not happy to be held by anyone other than mummy though hehehehe.
She's been making a few sounds this morning, other than her normal grunts which is sooo cute, cant wait for the babbling to start.
Im good, still loosing weight due to this breastfeeding caper and started working on my mummy apron this week, nothing strenuous just a bit of walking and a few situps a day.
been waking up feeling nauceous, but i think that has to do with the whole lack of sleep thing!
anyway the milk monster is hollering, hope ur all well and those bubba's arent giving u too mch of a hard time

Jen- :comfort: Do what's right for you...the best thing for any bub is a relaxed mummy. BF or FF- the most important thing is that you're acting in the best interests of your little girl. You've given BF a really good go...don't be hard on yourself if it's not working. Having a newborn is one thing- having a newborn, recovering from a long labour/ceaser and having BF issues with a screaming baby is another altogether.

We're having our own issues here. I've still got shocking pain in my left nipple when feeding and I'm pretty sure that the thrush in DDs mouth has spread to my breast. I'm treating the both of us with Daktarin. I'm airing as much as possible and even expressed from my left last night to give it a rest. Unfortunately, I (stupidly) used the wrong teat and my poor little girl ended up with the most shocking wind. She was hysterical and could only be calmed by lying on DHs chest for an hour...didn't I feel useless??

Anyway, DH is out getting the right sized teat and some Infants Friend because her wind has become worse over the last 3 days...esp at around 8 at night. I would rather not medicate her but I hate seeing her uncomfortable. I've tried Brauers Colic Relief but it seemed to make it worse.

On the upside, my recovery seems complete. I'm off painkillers and I'm moving around pretty freely.

Ery- thinking of you, hope the Zantac is working for you and bub is more comfy.

Sky- good for you with the walking...can't wait to get started myself. Good job on getting off the coffee...it's not easy, those headaches are awful.

Maya- What are you doing about DDs thrush??? Hope DP is being nicer to you today.


Chepie- you're right- lack of sleep seems to blow EVERYTHING out of proportion. Sounds like you're doing an awesome job with DS.

Hi all my dd Serenity was born at 32 weeks on the 2/10 by emergency csec....recovery has been great been walking around since the day after op.....I went into labour and after 15 min was 7cm but she was breach bum first which was fine but then a foot came down so off I went, although for the last 2 weeks I haven't even felt like I had the op I find the whole thing a horrid experience as I had never prepared myself emotionaly and had 3 previous vag births with just gas or nothing...she's my 3 premmie but my second to need nursery but she will be coming home today weighing 1.97kg so I'm very exciting.... I will bf and have a total 2 yrs from 3 kids behind me so hoping it goes well

Hi Everyone

Thought I would come in and introduce myself, my name is Kelly and my precious daughter TARA ROSE was born on 12th October via elective c/s after 1 IVF cycle and 3 FET's (of which we used a total of 7 of our 15 embryo's). I opted for the c/s due to some ongoing health issues and it was found at delivery that I was placenta previa so the best case all around for us. I have recovered extremely well from the surgery and am feeling back to my old self.

Tara is such a good baby and only cry's for feeding, although she is a bit of a slow starter to get feeding and was taking about 1 1/2 hours to feed although touch wood she feed last night in 30 minutes and considering she is feeding between 3-4 hourly at the moment that certainly helps with sleep.

We attempted b/fing with Tara however I was diagnosed as being anemic 2 weeks before delivery and due to the placenta issue at birth I had a bit of blood loss so I'm now on iron supplements to get my levels back up. Unfortunately due to the low iron levels my milk has never really come in so Tara is a bottle baby with some expressed b/m although my milk is now already starting to dry up as I am only pumping 40ml per day for her.

Anyway, that's a little about us and where we are at the moment. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing our parenthood journey's together.

Hi girls, sorry I have been MIA but little miss cranky pants is very demanding at the moment and I am trying everything, dont know if its colic or whether she is just a cranky cow but it is draining, night time isnt much better up every 1.5 to 2 hours so mummy is a cranky pants too lol. I have given up the coffee as well Skye and the chocolate omg life as I know it has ceased....it is all for the greater good though. She just doesnt sleep for long stretches unless she is in the HAB, but even night time she isnt sleeping for long and that is with me so i dont know i hope it is a phase.

Oz - it was great to catch up with you yesterday miss zoe is just the most peaceful happy beautiful bubba, you lucky cow lol and DS is adorable just wanna take him home. Thanks for the awesome pics there are some on fb if anyone wants to check out the girls.

V we will definately have to catch up for coffee, no wait, iced chocolate when you are up to it, cant wait to meet Olivia. Glad you are starting to feel better bummer on the boobies though.

DD allowed me 9 hours of sleep between 930 last night and 830 this ! Of course I was up twice during that span but 9 hours is 9 hours and I'm feeling GREAT :dance:

Afternoon ladies,

Well Evangeline is already 3wks old. Wow that flew!!! We had her weighed and checked today. All going good, she is now 3300gm and 50cm long :dance: Booby milk is making her thrive. I really can't complain, she is a pretty good baby, and im soooo in love with her. Oh she also won the newborn catergory in the SIDS calender competion. She reminds some days so much of my other daughter, though lucky enough ive only called her Lilli once :(

V - Im with the other girls, 9hrs, pleaseeeee tell me how.

Nina - Ahh another dummy bubby :D Evangeline is a big sucker to, and yep loves being over my shoulder to :D

kelly d just wondering why the anemia affected your milk as I'm like that too but my milks fine?

Just to clarify...she fed at 830 last night and went down at 930 and we went to bed aswell. Woke at 1230, up for an hour feed then woke again at 430 for another hour. Woke up again at 830 this morning. So it was interrupted...def not 9 hours straight lol!!!

When I was discharged from hospital my iron levels were at 75 (pre delivery they were 86) which is very low and classified as Microcytic anemia. I'm on supplements for at least the next 4 months to try and get my levels back to normal range ie: over 100. When you are pregnant and/or b/fing your body uses up a lot of iron to grow the baby and to then produce milk. As my iron levels are so low, once my body uses up the iron stores I need to function everyday there is not much left to help with my milk production, hence the low amount of milk expressed. I was told that until my iron levels increase, my milk won't come in fully and this could take at least 6-8 weeks. The only problem with waiting that long is that Tara is now so used to having a bottle that even if I try to put her on the breast she flat out refuses as there is just not enough supply to satisfy her.

I am using the philosophy that she is thriving on the bottle and even if she only gets 1 expressed milk feed per day then that is better than nothing at all and I'll keep perservering with the expressing until it becomes evident that there is no more to give her. Something is better than nothing at all...

I think it's great you are so positive and realistically we went a healthy thriving bub so it's not really important what they drink as long as they get there

Sorry for the lack of communication. Little Luke has control of the household and is causing me to do some one hand typing now!

Seems like we all are having good and bad days. Lukey is pretty good but we have our grizzly moments. In our house it's more mum whose not coping. All the different advice means I am struggling to know what to do and petrified i'll do something to ruin this perfect child i have being blessed with. so we have had quite a few tears but once again DH has being amazing.

Anyway today is a new day and I feel positive this morning so maybe today can be a tear free day.

Will try and go back and read the posts I have missed so sorry for the lack of personals. Thanks for the b'day wishes yesterday - yes the big 30!

BTW - how much washing do these things make! :D

Cam: Tell me about the washing :rolleyes:. Tara decided to have a big chuck up all over her bassinet this morning.... AHHH, so a full load of unplanned washing at 6.30am and no bed for her to sleep in, so she had to sleep with daddy in the big bed. Or should I say Tara slept in the big bed and daddy stayed awake watching and making sure she didn't get tangled in the bedclothes.

I hope today is better for you and lucky you to have such a supportive DH as well. It is pretty emotional having a newborn not to mention all the changes in hormones going through our body as well. Sending you a big :hug:.

TT with DD1 ended up with 2 for 2 yesterday. Today though she's taken a step back, flat out refused to put knickers on for a good hour but a promised trip to the park got them on her! then she wet through 3 pairs. but i went outside to save my washing and when i came back inside she had put herself on the toilet and did wee's and wanted me to look! lol so hopefully she's getting the hang of it. its soo hard to not get mad, mum asked me if i smacked her for wetting herself. i told her no, smacking isnt going to make the task any easier and i just told her that she cant wet her knickies and she needs to tell mummy when she needs to go to the toilet. its hard because its frustrating but smacking isnt the answer in this situation. I wonder how mum got me to TT if her answer was smacking! sheesh!

We are all good- tired but who isn't!! Charlotte witching hour is 3am- 5am.......feeding like a champ had her weighed and is now 4.5kg 53cm long and head is 37cm!! So all good!! Aiden has settled down and I have been more able to spend more time with him which is awesome!!! Went shopping yesterday to buy some new bras!! Sorry little excited her as I am only usually an A cup and I am now the proud wearer of a D cup!! ohhh so nice to feel more womanly!!:lol::lol::lol:
better go Charlotte bum is talking loud and clear!!!!!!!

Good to read everyone is hanging in there.
We've been out a bit this week, getting some things done and getting to a forest and the beach - beach again on Sunday when we visit DP's aunt again. Got a new phone today and now just messing around with setting that up and getting info off the old one.
I've caught a couple of wee's in the enamel chamberpot and I'll start the elimination communication in more earnest soon enough. For now using the flannel flats and trying not to use nappy covers for them so that I can whip them off as soon as they become a little wet. She's quick to let me know when she's wet, so she doesn' thave to spend too much time feeling wet before I cop on :)
I have no idea how much she weighs - I'll probably ask the midwives to come round next week to do a check on both of us, but I'm happy with how we're going and intend to ignore charts like I did last time.
I thought my boobs were settling down (not nearly as bad as last time, though) but now I'm getting "No thanks, Mum" from DS when I offer him some (more like, hope like hell that he'll help me out!)...sigh...
I got my hair cut and DP doesn't like it - ah, well!

Hi Myz, I hope we can share our journeys together :hello:.

Well the humidity here in Vic has been playing havoc with Tara the past few days, she has been unsettled and seems to constantly want feeding, like every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. We have increased her feed amounts now to 100ml, to see if this satisfies her which it does sometimes and others she pukes it back up and then wants more. Hopefully we will be able to get some type of feeding pattern worked out soon.

Oh, it seems that there will also be no more expressed milk from me, expressed a whole 20ml for her yesterday and today have woken up with no pain in my boobies and no hint of anything left. So looks like my milk has now gone away but at least she got some for the last 3 weeks anyway.

DH is back at work tomorrow after 2 weeks leave so will be interesting to see how I go on my own, but hopefully I have managed to get a routine in place with sterlising, formula making and housework over the past 2 weeks that it will continue when DH is not around during the day.

Hope you are all having a good weekend and that everyone has managed to get some sleep.

Had a great night last night fed her at 8pm then 12am then 5 am then 8am so go some decent sleep even though I had a couple strays come into bed throughout the night lol, I've noticed she's a sucky baby meaning I think will be a thumb sucker so I think alot of the time when I think she's hungry she actually just wants to suck on something..... So I waited a min when I heard her whinge during the night last night and a few times she made a few noises for a few sec then went back to sleep instead of me just grabbing her straight away and then puking some back up...

Thought id quickly log on while the girls are asleep. Im not looking foward to the heat today, but at least the house stays cool until 3-4pm, we managed to get a little paddling pool for sophie with a shade, so that she can keep cool, but Jess is another matter lol, poor little mite! She has come out with all these little pimples on her face and i have no idea if its a heat rash from last week or an allergic reaction to something iv eaten or to the hormones racing around me ;) Its mainly on her cheeks and temples and a couple in her ear, the skin isnt hot but its pretty red, so any help would be great!!

I know wat u mean kelly with the vomiting, Jess seems to be a pro atm with projectile vomit, couch cushions havent been cleaned so much in its life :p although it normally happens when iv had onions or im engorged. sry to hear bout ur milk drying up, but hopefully she settles down soon and gl with dh going back to work.

yeah trying to figure out whether the bub is waking up for a feed or just having a fidget at night is hard to get used to. but hopefully it becomes clearer wat she wants.

We will find out results of lactose intolerance test next friday so still 11 days when we go back to the paediatrician.
The zantac looks to be kicking in even better now. She is settling alot faster and not screaming in pain all the time after a feed so I feel like my sanity is finally returning.

I was worried that Ella might not have put on a lot of weight as last few days has only been wanting to feed every 3.5-4 hours and sometimes 5 hours at night but when the community nurse weighed her this morning she ha put on 280grams in a week - such a little piggy!

Mzy- Ella has come out in lots of pimples too. I've just been trying to wash her face a few times a day (just water) as I thought it may be the heat and her sweating but could be my hormones too!
