hi briohny, just signed your guest book !!
hang in there about the stress... no matter how many kids we have every mum knows how you feel!! were right there with you .. I singed your guest book btw!
Nixon is a huge guts... he eats everything im giving him and just wants more ... and hes taking most of his bottles ... as long as he's happy !!
and yes i agree babies are smater than we think... i took his dummy out of his mouth this morning, he watched where i put it and went back to grab it !!
this morning at breakfast he just as he's finished he sneezed it back all over me ! twice..
recently (well last night) i had a go at dh for not helping me ( looking back he helps out heaps) but he always says to me that he'll take nixon on the weekend so i can have a break... sometimes i go out but i dont have much cash , but what ends up happening is nixon gets stuck in a swing while dh works on the car ALL day! then i end up looking after him again. then i go see if hes nearly done its always 10 mins.. the 3hrs later hes still not done !! phew thanks for that.....

Hi Lea and welcome to the group.
mmack... Jessica is not even rolling over yet but if I count back the dates she is realy only not quite 5 months, Jack is only just rolling over and gets a bit frustrated when it dosn't happen.
Kristy... hope you are starting to feel better.
Jessica & Jack had thier 6 month jabs today I hate taking them in so upsetting for them It makes me cry, it gets a bit hard to settle them when all they want is big long cuddles and the nurse is standing there waiting to jab the other one.
I also had to get my Implanon implant taken out today because I kept spotting all the time back on the depo needles again trying to convince DH to get the snip but he wont be in on it, I keep telling him that he dosn't want any more kids so he should get it done.
Kate... only a few more sleepless nights to go untill sleep school hope it goes well and you are all sleeping like babbies.
Hello to all you other ladies hope you are all well.
Jean

Thanks for signing our guest book, its always a nice surprise.
Lea I can't believe your sons name is Nixon, my good friend has a son Nixon 1yr old she's also a member of BB. "Nickers"
I think we often too hastly have a go at our otherhalves, but then again sometimes they deserve it. LOL. At the moment DH is working 7 x 12hr days. He gets to see G&T for all of 10mins a day at 5.30cm in the morning and they are in bed when he gets home. So I'm pretty much a single Mum with a really good bank account. LOL. It's not forever just a couple of more months and it will help us by having enough money saved in the bank for a lot of rainy days. DH will feel much happier once we have savings in our account.
Last night at 2am Gemma decided to have a conversation about something. So DH goes into their room to put her dummy in and see if he can settle her. Instead she got so excited kicking her legs and smiling. He ran back in our bed and said "she wants me to pick her up" LOL. I said "no way" she wont go back to sleep. But it was cute he so wanted to cuddle her. After an hour of trying to get her to stop talking she fell back asleep. Must have been important whatever she was talking about.
-
Jean, sorry to hear you are having problems with contraception. Same here - only our problem is that DH wants the snip and I want to keep our options open. But with bf and problems with mini-pill there aren't many options.
Briohny, how cute of Gemma. And DH LOL!
Lea, they are sneaky little things aren't they!
Tom has been having 2 feeds a day. Jack was prob having 1 a day at this age as he didn't want food yet. Tom has been waking 3 times in the night for the last week. Yesterday I didn't give him any solids, he had extra milk instead. And guess what - he only woke once. I think I have been giving him too much food so he hasn't been drinking enough milk. Milk is their most important food source until 1 yr so I will cut down on the food and try and get him to take more milk. Hopefully there will be more sleep coming my way!
-
Melanie - They are all so different aren't they..makes me scared to have another baby, as Kirsten is so good!
Briohny - Men have no willpower when it comes to waking up babies for a cuddle! :D
Jean - Hope you can find some contraception which suits you!
After being reluctant to take solids, Kirsten had 3 feeds yesterday..just small ones though, she still loves her milk!
She only likes the sweet things though like banana, sweet potato, sweetcorn, carrot..she went nuts for some carrot and parsnip the other day!
Trying to get her to try some broccoli, peas, potato etc but she is not keen!
Will sneak some into her carrot and parsnip! :D
She was weighed the other day and is now 7kgs and 67cm tall so she is still a skinny minnie but at least she is gaining weight!!

hi all,
I decided to name "nixon" after richard nixon, not because of who he was but i just really like the name!!
briohny, it must suck having dh away.. i get sad when my dh leaves at 6 and gets home at 6 ... but we dont really have the bank account to match :(
dh and I are thinking about buying into a franchise.... i really want it but im not sure what exactly it will bring for us, iykwim!
Nixon still wakes about 3 in the morning most nights, sometimes he just has a restless sleep and wake constantly, ppl have told me to settle him!!! yeah right, he just wants a bottle, i figure his little tummy has gone 8 or so hrs with out food he must be starving.. so i tried the water and he just screamed even more... nothing will settle him but a bottle, has anyone else given in or does someone have a trick??
oh and today someone said i should feed him more, and he might sleep better.... hes already chubbing up @ 8.3 kg.....those thighs of his are massive..
-
Does he take a large feed just before he goes to sleep?
Kirsten usually sleeps 10-11 hours, and the only times she doesn't is if she hasn't really tanked up on milk just before she goes off!

Marion, I hear you. Jack was so good too and I didn't think I could possibly be so lucky again. And actually I wasn't!! Tom really has been a much more difficult baby than Jack, and it was quite a shock, but I still wouldn't change anything! I love having two little boys and being close in age they are the best of friends. And ironically, now he is a better day sleeper than Jack was at the same age and at this age Jack started night wakings too.
Lea, It is still very normal for them to wake once in the night at this age. Personally I would give the bottle (or in my case the bb, and I do!). Milk is far more important to them at this age than food and it sounds like he is getting enough solids. More solids rarely makes them sleep longer, in my case it seems to have made him sleep less! I night weaned Jack (ie didn't feed him if he woke in the night) at closer to 1 year with success, earlier than that he really needed the feed on the nights he woke.
-
Hi melanie and ladies,
I give nixon a bottle around 6.30 and is in bed by 7 he rarely takes a full feed, usually between 120- 180 mls ... all my bottles ended up with wasted milk in them, so usually i give him a 180ml feed before bed and a 120ml feed when he wakes.... i used to feel pressure from my mchn not to feed him, but now i do it straight away and hes back to sleep in minutes.... only problem is i lie awake at night waiting for him to wakeand every tiny wimper from him i wake... he is in his own room too.....
hahaha last night we clipped our cats nails and now they cant climb up the curtians .... its funny watching them slip to the bottom....
anyway, nix is abit unwell atm, runny nose smelly breath... just wondering if it might be teeth....
oh yeah last night i made the decision to try and relactate.... theres some milk left.. so i hope it works...

Today Gemma and Teagan had their first try of Banana for lunch and loved it, after each mouthful it was "mmmmmmmmm" as in give me more. It's hard doing 2 at once I'm not quick enough. LOL.
In regards to the waking during the night, I am extremely lucky that G&T sleep from 6.30pm until 5.30am, sometimes stirring during the night but quickly go back to sleep. If he wants a bottle I would give it to him, like Mel said their bottle is the most important thing, it's just a pain in the butt for you! If you feel he is really not settling have you thought about going to a sleep school, like Tweddle? I did a day stay programme and it saved me. They taught me the signals for tiredness, how to settle etc. And it's all covered by the government if you are concerned about money. Just a thought?
Jean-abstinence will teach your hubby! LOL. DH and I have discussed him going to see Uncle Chop Chop. He is willing to do it. He is 37, I'm only 27 so I don't think the Dr's would even contemplate doing me. He has a 16yr old son and we now have 6mth old twins so I don't think we are going to add to the family-just can't afford it! I'm scared to have s*x because I don't want another accident-which has been a blessing :-)
Did you realise that our twins are only a day apart??
-
Jean, it sounds like you took Jessica and Jack to get their needles on their own is that right? Normally I take them when DH has the day off, but he doesn't have one for weeks now and I'm so scared to take them alone, what if they are both wanting hugs like you went through, I'll end up in tears too.
-
Briohny... Yes I do take J&J to get thier jabs by myself I must admit I get someone to watch Cassie nearlly 3( or I would go crazy she is a very active girl she has 2 speeds stop & go) any way I usualy put them on the boob but this time I took along bottles cause i'm not breast feeding any more,( not happy about that ) it seems to settle them quite quickly they soon forget about the stinging when they have somthing to take thier mind off it ( milk monsters ).
It's cool how they are so close in age, I think Emmas little girl is born on the same day. there is a set of twin girls born the day after mine that go to daycare on a wednesday with mine ( I work one day a week ) Jack thinks its great when they are all put down on the play mat together surounded by girls.
Lea... I woul'dn't get to stressed about the solids as the other ladies said they realy only need milk, Jessica & Jack realy only had one soild feed a day Jessica has the hang of eating but Jack has no idea so I try him with a spoon for a while maybe five min then if its cusard make his into a bottle, I put half a tin in the bottle with one scoop of milk and the rest boiled water he loves it, Idid the same thing for DD #2 and she was breast fed for 9 months.
Well at the moment J&J are in the play pen happily playing they are both just discovering thier feet its so cute when they both hold onto the opposite foot from each other.
Hope you are all well catch you soon .

Thanks for the tip Jean! I appreciate it. I'll be going this week so I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Girls
Great to see so many new faces. Dont really have a lot of news Ashton wise. I haven't got him weighed since the injections the other week. He cant sit up yet when I put him on the floor but he is slowly getting there. Starting to lift his bum up when on his belly, but I hope crawling is still a while off lol.
I brought a limo pram from a friend on the weekend as even though Lachlan is 3 he still likes to go in the pram somedays instead of walking, he used to just sit in the fron of the single pram i have, but Ashton is getting too long now LOL.
Love
-
Kathryn.... I hear what your saying about not wanting them to get going to quick these are my last babbies I want them to take thiee time I want them to stay babbies for ever LOL
-
I'm dreading G&T crawling and walking. It's going to make my outings so stressful. I see my friends 8 & 9mth olds crawling and into everything, they are constantly getting up, grabbing them and saying "NO!" Unless I go to a baby proof house, I wont be attending. Am I being unreasonable or realistic?
-
At home I've started to put the twins in there play pen even thoug they arn't going anywhere just to get them used to it before they get mobile
I did the same with DD #2, when we went to speedway I would take a travel cot so that she could still see every thing but not have worry about her getting trodden on when older kids are running around.
I am planning on putting a travel cot in the boot of the car for times when we are invited to our non-childern friends houses or go to the beach especialy if im by myself wich is most of the week.
I think I will look a bit silly but the main thing is keeping them safe without them sitting in the pram all the time while trying to keep Cassie occupied.

i wont be around much 9as youve prob noticed) coz we had to cut our internet off because they kept charging us double what we owe and they would never answer their phone or emails!! So i'll prob be on every few days or so but not perminatly for about a month or more. i'm gonna miss yas all again! :( hope all the bubs are well. Charlie is good, crawling now, bugga, he is into everything!
-
Hi all. We had a shocker last night, but otherwise things are going well. Tom is trying to pull himself up now, and is crawling everywhere (although he still commandos more often). He is also babbling all the time - everyone thinks he will be an early talker like Jack as he never stops. The only word he says though is Mum - he's been saying that for months. He seems so grown up, I nearly feel like I don't have a baby anymore. And I think it's gone even quicker second time around.
-
Good idea with the travel cot. Thanks for that!
-
I am also dreading Kirsten crawling, can't imagine two of her!
She is sooo lively and interested in absolutely everything, when we go out I can't feed her as she is so busy wriggling around looking at things and trying to grab everything in sight, can't imagine her when she can actually move towards things *eek*
Not much to report here except the arrival of the first tooth last week, think more are on way as she is very cranky and won't go to sleep at night!
Been back to work for a few weeks, Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning - my mum is staying over to look after Kirsten..the break is quite nice but I had forgotten quite how much i hated the actual job! Still its good hours and I
can' t afford to leave!
Marion
-
All i can say is help! Charlie is not only crawling but he will get on his hands and stand on his feet and walk on both hands and feet! What? He is only 7 months old!!
-
What can I say Tegan? Just look out! Tom is also doing that, as was Jack by this age and Jack was walking at 9.5months. I was hoping not to get another early walker but I might be out of luck - and you too! All I can say is that is very hard work having them walk early, even crawling early as you know. I guess we're in it together though LOL!
How is DH's foot now?
Marion, I hope work improves for you, but it can be nice to have a little break, can't it! I think the hours are great, you are very lucky there.
I will be starting back at work 2 days a week soon. I will probably be able to do at least some of the work from home though which will be really great.
-
Melanie - Working from home is great, I used to do it full time but it all fell through just after I found out I was pregnant, which wasn't ideal!
Tegan - it must look so cute to see him standing and walking when he is still so small!
Kirsten made her first move towards crawling yesterday I think.....when down on her tummy she lifted her bottom in the air for the first time and made crawling movements with her knees to try to reach a toy...so it might not be too long before she is mobile either! *eek*

Mel, DH's foot is still quite sore. He has to stay off it for another 6 weeks. I think they should of given him crutches if they wanted that! He won't listen to me. He walks everywhere and then complains that they hurt. silly male!
-
Tegan My DH is the same a few weeks ago he tore the ligaments in his knee and was told to take it easy (HE DIDN'T)
Even now it gets sore when he kneels down but he still dose it.
-
Is there anybody out there??!!
Marion :)
-
Hey ladies! I see some familiar faces in here :) Do you mind if I wiggle myself into a space here? If youll have me after my defection to the Sept BB ;) Ive been stalking you guys occasionally.
I cant believe all these grown up babies!
-
Thanks Kate :) We're pretty stoked, I cant believe that we didnt have to go through the 2yr effort like last time. Thankgod for Drs who know what theyre doing! Its been pretty tiring though having a badly teething, on the go 8mth old to deal with as well as being pregnant and getting the starts of morning sickness. For a few days there I thought I must be nuts to do it so soon but I know it will get better and go by so fast before I know it theyll both be in school.
How are your girls doing!? Getting big I bet.
-
Thanks Kate, nice to know that it will not be as tragic as people make out to have them this close together. Im really excited, I feel Jett will benefit from a sibling close in age, he is such an energetic child.
-
Yeah I try not to listen to them. My mother is the worst though. Typical of her though, she's negative about everything and everyone.
-
Hi all. I am here but we have had a lot of problems with our broadband and are now without it totally while we change providers. Also I have had two sick little boys which has meant busy days and nearly sleepless nights.
Anna, congratulations. I totally agree with Kate. I have 19 months (so a slightly bigger gap) between my boys but I really love it too. As Kate said, there are definitely "moments" like having two sick at once LOL, but overall it is great and I wouldn't change it for anything. The boys absolutely love each other and it so heartwarming watching them together.
Well, it has been a busy week for us. The boys have both been sick as I mentioned. Also Thomas had some breast refusal with it. I think it's been because of his blocked nose and sore throat. DH and I now have it, and are exhausted from 3 bad nights, but at least the boys seem better today.
Also, Jack has now decided he doesn't need day time sleeps. This has just made my days more difficult although I am still persisting with trying to get him down. The other day he said "Jack pushing boundaries" while I was trying to get him down. He said it again the other day when he was putting clean nappies in the nappy bin so I guess he knows what it means!
Thomas is now saying Mum and Dad like a champion. I am sure he also said Thomas the other day. And yesterday he pulled himself to his feet for the first time. SIGH! There goes the very last of any spare time!!
I am starting work 2 days a week in 2 weeks so I guess that's going to kill spare time too LOL! MIL will mind both boys one day, and Tom on Thursdays as well until I can get him into day care. Jack is already in day care on Thursdays.
My sister's baby girl was due on Friday and there have been no signs of her arriving yet. I can't wait, it's the first niece/nephew on my side. And now it's just a week and a half until my other sis gets here from London and meets the boys for the first time. So I guess you could say it's all happening here!
-
Hi Girls
Long time not chat. I am trying to stuff solids into Ashton now as he only put on 100g in over a month which has worried me. So we have gone for a jar of food at night just about every day to 2 jars of food a day and a quite alot of farex rice cereal in the morning which he scoffed this morning. Plus I am still feeding him in between, but I do think my milk is drying up :(
He isn't screaming like he is hungry or anything and has always been happy and content and slept well. So we will see what happens now with the extra solids.
I hope everyone else is well.
Love
-
hello, welcome and congrats Anna!
Melanie - Tom is coming on so well..they both sound like bright boys! Kirsten has had a cold too, and I have a bit of gastro, so I feel your pain. She was also having feeding problems with it, especially in the mornings, she would eat and throw up.
My sister-in-law's baby is also due any day, she went into hospital yesterday but the contractions stopped and they sent her home! Hoping for a girl as a playmate for Kirsten!
She is throwing up a lot at the moment, with her cold, and also the fact that because she is teething she keeps making herself gag by sticking her hands down her throat. We went through 4 outfits yesterday before we could go out!
Kathryn - Hope the solids are doing the trick. Kirsten's weight gain also slowed recently, and I do see her looking a bit chubbier since we upped the solids. Not sure they 100% agree with her as she has had a bit more reflux and wind and been more unsettled at night since she has been taking them though. It doesn't help that she won't take any until too near her bath and bed! We are taking it slowly though, she is still quite fussy about what she will take. Is Ashton eating anything and everything now?
She isn't having good nights at all actually, since she is rolling over and getting stuck, or getting her feet caught in the bars of the cot, and waking herself up!!
She really seems to be coming on fast at the moment, she is communicating with us a lot more and really trying to crawl..scary!!

Hi all it sounds like we have all been a bit busy .
Annat Congratulations and I wouldn't worry about what the age gap Jett will love it heaps of people have thiers close together its your choice, People seem to think having twins is hard work but most of the time its pretty good, like most kids they all have thier moments our 3yr old is full on at moment.
Melanier Isn't it nice went they start to learn all about pushing buttons and realising they are doing it. Thomas is a smart little one, I cant wait for Jack & Jessica to say mum Jack already says dad but no mum yet and Jess is just into blowing bubbles.
Astrolady He might just be using all his food intake as energy if you are a bit worried maybe ring your health nurse I'm sure evey thing is fine.
MarionI find Jack also rolls over in bed and gets caught in the bars and aslo kicks off his blankets so I have started putting him in sleeping bags that way he can't move around so much and I don't have to worrie about him catching a cold if you live in a warm area you can get light wieght ones.
Well not much happening hear the bubs are getting bigger now you can't even tell they were premmies so thats good, now they are getting bigger we don't get stopped in the shops all the time, so my shopping days are getting quicker YAY.
WE went to one of my best friends weddings on the weekend and it was realy lovely they got married next to the swan river at a winery the bride was gergeous, Kinda makes me want to get married but we never seem to have the spare money or the time oh well one day it will happen.
All you ladies have a good day.

Well after over 7 months i think we've figured out why Charlie is a spewy baby. I think he's lactose intolorent. I decided to give him to S26 formula, lactose free. Since then he has hardly spewed at all. Maybe 3 times a day instead of every 15 minutes. I'm seeing the GP today about it. I really can't believe it's taken this long to figure out.
-
Marion - Ashton loves pear and banana rice cereal, any pureed fruit and custards. Can't stand vegies of any sort and hates yogurt as well .
Tegan - Goodluck at the GP. I hope you have found the solution
Love
-
Well i went to the GP. Not very happy with her at all. She basically says i over feed him and that it will lead to him being over weight!! He weighs 10kgs which is in the 97th centile for his age, but his height is also in the 97th centile at around 79cms. So he's very much in proportion. He is a solid boy but overweight? I don't think so! She really make me feel like a bad mother :(
She said he could be lactose intolorent though and i have to get a poo samle from him and sent to the pathologist. Nice job that'll be. But she said it probably won't show anything.
So i just don't know what to do. I feel like the worlds worst mother at the moment.
