Hi Jean and thanks. Look forward to chatting to everyone. Most nights now i can't get to sleep so the computer is my best friend at the moment. Wish i could sleep as well as my son.
Welcome to the October forum. I don't get much chance to post in here at times, but I do read alot so can't wait to hear how Rayfe and yourself are getting along.
Not been around too much here myself recently, having a few problems. Have had a prolapsed bladder since Kirsten was born but it wasn't really bothering me so we were just hoping it would improve, but its got a lot worse, its really uncomfortable and hard to walk anywhere. Have got a hospital appointment on 5th July (this was an URGENT appointment, unbelievably) and might need an op which would mean no lifting for 6 weeks..so not ideal. Not sure of implications towards having another baby too, which is hard.
Kirsten is doing well, really enjoying her solids, and taking the spoon from me and feeding herself! She is still taking 1000ml of milk a day (mostly expressed), as well as three small meals, but she is very slim! She is getting weighed on Friday.
She is still teething on and off and getting very good at rolling all over the place. She now tends to sleep on her tummy, which looks a bit worrying, but if we turn her back she just flips over so we just let her get on with it! Her flat bit on her head is rounding out nicely though!
Mmack glad to hear Kristen is going so well has she got any teeth yet?
Jack & Jessica had a realy restless afternoon today, so glad they have settled for the day, now i'm off to have a nice relaxing shower ( just hope the phone dosn't ring),
Yes... she has two teeth and another two on the way!
She just won't settle at night at the moment...she used to sleep 7 until 7 like clockwork but now is really reluctant to miss out on anything and go to bed, so she gets overtired and ends up crying. She wouldn't let me go anywhere tonight at all but would cry and whinge until I picked her up and walked around..not sure if its the teeth or she is just getting good at getting what she wants!! *grrr*
Just back from having Kirsten weighed, and a bit down.
She has gained, and gone from 7kgs to 7.2kgs over the past four weeks, but the Health Visitor was really hassling me to give her more solids, as her height is now in the 95% percentile - she is 70.5cm tall, and her weight is in the 25th. Her weight has always been in the 30thish and her height in the 90th..she is tall and skinny, she eats all the time and I have been really trying with the solids, and trying to give her three meals a day, and have just started with chicken and porridge. I spend at least 2 hours a day making food for her/feeding her.
I think she is just a slow starter with the solids, she is only just starting to enjoy them a little. I am also tall and used to be skinny, and was when I was a baby.
I just really felt like I was getting told off, and like I was starving my baby, the woman has a terrible manner.
I am not feeling fantastic at the moment, a bit fragile, and finding things quite hard, including weaning, so this was not what I needed. I went out in a panic and bought all sorts of food for Kirsten but I think I will just continue to introduce things slowly, especially with her eczema.
The health visitor was hassling me to give her fish, when I have been holding back as my DH has a severe fish allergy which made him very ill when young!
I think next time DH can take her as it all washes over him!
Well Charlie has finally slowed down with his eating and he's getting a bit more leaner now. He's got 5 teeth right now and another is coming up soon. He's to the 2 top front ones and 3 bottom ones. The top two make him look a bit like a rabbit, lol.
He's starting to walk around furniture now, not good for me lol. I hope he doesn't walk too soon.
Marion, we are having issues with Ashton and sleeping too at the moment. I have had about 10 hrs sleep in the last 3 days/nights and he is usually a 7 to 7 sleeper as well. Not really sure what it is from as there are still no teeth. I have cut back on his solid in take today in case it has been a belly ache, even though there are no disgusting nappies or anything to prove the belly ache theory.
Ashton will usually eat a jar of pureed apple mixed in with baby rice cereal for his breakfast, have breast milk throughout the day and then have 2 x small jars of custard or 1 x large jar for his tea then more milk before bed.
So far today he has only had 1 x small jar of apple and oatmeal and that has been it apart from breast milk. He will only get 1 x small jar of custard for his tea tonight and I will see what he sleeps like then.
He is definitely getting heavier but I haven't got him weighed again since that time he only put on 100g roughly in approx 5 weeks. he is actually starting to hurt my back/shoulder when I carry him in the hug a bub.
Kathryn, when Thomas started waking 3 times in the night recently I cut back his solids and he went back to just 1 waking. Then he got sick and we had a week of bad nights. Now we get the occassional 3 wakings again (like last night). DH is away camping until Monday so I really hope Tom sleeps well tonight.
Tegan, wow, Charlie is doing well. Jack was cruising furniture at 8 months, and walking at 9.5 months, so watch out! I personally think it's hard when they walk so early as they don't have the language comprehension to go with it. Thomas is standing up with furniture but not cruising just yet thank goodness!
Marion, I hope things settle down for you. Phooey to that MCHN. I had a fussy eater for a long time and was told over and over that he would eat when he needed it. And you know what, he did. And the change happened overnight. I think it's just Kirsten's genetic makeup and forcing food into her isn't going to help. I too would be careful with new foods - Jack had a dairy allergy until about 14months so I am being more careful with Tom - no dairy until 12months at least. Do what feels right to you, a mother's instinct is very powerful and can be trusted!
I have started work 2 days a week again and am finding it tiring atm even though I'm working from home mostly. I think I'm still recovering from the boys being sick (and us) and having 2 weeks all up of really bad sleep. I had to go into the office on Monday for my first day and I got walked in on when expressing - by a male! He was more embarassed than me. I can't believe it though, I expressed for ages after going back after Jack and didn't have any problems.
I had my sister from London here for a week and we had a great time. She loved the boys. My other sister is doing really well with her little girl. The poor thing went 11 days overdue, had 48 hours of labour and an emergency c-section.
Well happy to report Ashton slept through the night last night YAY. I did 3 things differently.
1) gave him less solid food during the day,
2) didn't dress him in as many layers to goto bed... he hates blankets so I layer him in clothes, so he may have been getting too hot
3) Kept him up till 9pm
So now I will start working my way through the list individually. Today I will continue with the less solids, and less clothes to go to bed, but will put him back to bed at 7.30pm which is his usual bed time. If he goes okay then tomorrow I will increase his solid intake again.
He was probably upset cause he couldn't roll in so many clothes as this morning when I went in there he was happy, gurgling and on his stomach LOL.
Kathryn, great that Ashton slept through! We had a few tough nights with Charlie last week. He'd wake up every hour. We finally worked out that it was his top tooth coming though. They are so big, i can't blame him for being upset!
yeah Tegan I am so glad we can't remember the pain of cutting teeth !! Ashton has been sleeping through since my last post which is fantastic. I have continued on cutting down his solid intake though, he probably was taking in too much for his age.
OMG I just caught him as he rolled out of his rocker !! Little bugga. Now I will have to strap him into it.
havent forgot about you all, just had some life stuff come up so have been focused on that for awhile
Cooper is now crawling but backwards only lol, he covers a fair amount of floor space though, i havent actually seen him crawl though, but i know he is because he doesnt roll so only way he could move that quick is by crawling, he gets stuck under the lounges though, we have futons so he crawls backwards under that and gets stuck under there lol
hope everyone is going well i havent done much other than that, all the kids are going well, will read up on what i have missed
Lmao @ poor cooper being stuck under the lounge that would be a sight to see.
Well I finally got Ashton weighed last night and he is still only 6.92kg, and he had on a jumper and an extra bodysuit as well which added to his weight. So since 6mths old that is only a 700g increase. Less than 100g per week. Defintely my featherweight compared to my other two boys at the same age.
He isn't doing anything, not sitting up, not crawling, no teeth LOL.
Belinda I know what your saying with the crawling backwards how cute.
Astrolady I think Ashton is a good wieght it is nice to have babbies that don't break your arm when you have to carry them.
Hello ladies not much happening hear Jack is just starting to get up on all fours but not rocking yet so I don't think it will be long before he is crawling still no teeth but his cheeks have been glowing for the last few weeks.
I took Jessica to the health nurse yesterday for a referal to the pediatric phisio because she is very stiff in the shoulders she won't twist her torso it's like she has a brace on when she rolls it's one solid motion no twisting he hips so she rolls onto her side and stops she dosn't seem to have the fredom of movement, when we lay her on her back she screems the house down I think because she was born breech some muscles must have got damaged so hoping phisio helps she seems to be in pain most of the timeshe dose love to sit up.And still no teeth.
