My little devil decided to wake up at 4am. I managed to get him back to sleep only to wake up again 15 mins later, so i brought him out in the loungeroom where he decided he wanted to play, so I made him a bottle and the bugger has gone back to sleep ARGH.
We have 3 teeth the 4th should pop through anyday and in the last 2wks he has figured out commando crawling properly and now once he is on the floor he is gone. If I put him on the floor he will go onto hands and knees but then he just plonks to his belly.
He still can't sit up yet either when placed on the floor.
He only says dad with the occasional mum, and loves to make clucking noises. Not sure how much he weighs, hopefully it is around the 9kg mark now LOL.
We are not having a huge party for him or anything, just immediate family and close friends. We really can't afford to go all out anymore with 2 kids birthdays just 15 days apart.
Anyway the alarm is about to go off ..... there is goes. So Andrew is about to get up for work so I might head back to bed for an hour.
Angus’ sleeping is brilliant! We are so happy (but still quite tired, I think we still have a lot of sleep to catch-up).
So this is the story. Angus had never slept for more than 4 hours and had been waking 1 or 2 hourly from about 8 months. I would breast feed him back to sleep which from 9 months didn’t always work. He sometimes slept on the cot mattress on the floor in our room (only because we couldn’t fit the whole cot in our room) but mostly he slept in bed with us. This situation was far from ideal but we were working every single spare moment on our renovations and we were doing the absolute best we could (as pretty much everyone does).
We finally finished renovating his room last week. So, I followed the “teaching to sleep” instructions exactly as described by Robin Barker in her book Baby Love. We had 30 minutes of crying when I first put him down on the first night with 5 to 10 minutes of crying when he woke up each of the 3 times during the night. The second and third nights there was no crying when we put him down because he was so tired (so that’s cheating really I think, you are supposed to put them down semi-awake). Fourth night 5 mins, fifth night 5 mins. Now, either straight to sleep or a little whimper of 30 seconds or so. He still wakes through the night and cries but only for about 30 seconds and he needs no attention from us, he can put himself back to sleep quickly and easily.
He wakes-up properly, sometime between 4 and 5am he comes in to bed with us for a breastfeed and more sleep if we are lucky (if not, then we all just have to get up and start our day). I was worried that taking him into bed with us at this time would send him mixed signals but it seems to be working really well and we get all the cuddles that we love and a good night sleep too.
We are just so happy. We wish we had done it sooner but we just didn’t have the infrastructure set-up.
Day sleeping is hopeless now though. The other day he had no day sleep. Yes, that’s right he was awake ALL DAY!!! And there is no way I can get him to have two day sleeps anymore. Oh well, we can cope with the days now that we are all sleeping at night.
Rachel - I'm so pleased he is sleeping now and that it wasn't too painful for you to achieve!!!
Kathryn - That's great that Ashton is mobile now! (well great he is coming on so well but maybe not so easy for you!)
Kirsten got her belly up off the ground for the first time yesterday..she has been rocking back and forth and suddenly did a massive push up! She rolls everywhere but is desperately trying to crawl, several people I know, who all work with babies have said she is not far off at all! Very scary as she is extremely curious and nosey!!
Emma- I know, I am very scared, she is already hard to handle as she is so lively and into everything just rolling!!
Sorry Gaby has had an ear infection. It's hard when they don't sleep and are in pain. Kirsten did not sleep well for the whole of last week (normally she sleeps 7/8pm to 6/7am) and we were so exhausted. Can't even take turns going in to her as I wake up when she cries no matter where I am in the house!! I THINK it is teething, but might just be because she was practising her crawling through the night!!
The developmental physio is about to come and assess her again this morning. I am not TOO worried about it as she has come on a lot, although the physio did say she was sure she'd be crawling by this visit and she isn't!
Update: Physio is pleased with the improvements Kirsten has made and says all her movements are very normal, so thinks she will get there eventually, just a little bit slower than others. She still has slightly low tone in her neck and body, and can't stand up but she is improving all the time so hopefully will soon. She is just to be assessed again in 2 months. DH asked if this is something they grow out of and she said "usually, well, often - but she might be slightly clumsy when she is older". I think we could deal with that! Just after she left we got the letter with her initial diagnosis from her visit 2 months ago, it said she has mild motor delay, I suppose we knew that anyway though!!

Marion, great news that the assessment went well. Time to start toddler proofing your house LOL!
Lea, IKWYM! I can't believe my baby is 1 already!
Tom had his 12 months vax today - I hate these ones, they are the worst. He screamed at the time but I put him straight on the bb and he was fine. Now he is so happy you'd never know he'd had them LOL! Ok time to go do a mountain of washing and try yet again to get Jack to go to sleep. Wish me luck!
Where has the year gone !! A year ago today I was in early labour with Ashton and absolutely *****ting myself about giving birth to a premature baby who was only supposed to be 4lb 11oz going by ultrasound the day prior.
Oh Kat! I know how you feel, although I only had 3 hours of labour and no pre-labour, so my early arrival was very unexpected! Is Ashton likely to be your last? It looks like Tom will be ours, so his first birthday was a bit bittersweet for me! I hope you all have a great day on Friday - are you doing anything special? I remember reading you are having a party I think?

Yep Ashton is definitely our last, have sold off alot of his stuff and have a pile of clothes on ebay. Ashton isn't meant to be here, so definitely not risking it again pmsl. I was done at Lachlan due to a traumatic birth, and had got rid of alot of his clothes too, so Ashton actually doesn't have much in the way of size 0's pmsl
We are having a small party with immediate family only on Saturday.
nixon turns one next friday at 2.26 pm .. so i dont have to wake my self to wish him a happy birthday ..
friday night we are having a small gathering and then sunday 21st is the big party ..
i dont have a single thing planned yet ... i better get my butt into gear .. ive had 2 attempts at making his cake and both were not good ..... so my mil is helping me .... i a bit scared coz she is a stress head !!!
but my lil boy is great .. nodding yes all the time and crusing around the furniture ... oh and tanty chucking ...
he chucked the biggest wobbly the other day , he was teething on my frineds USB stick , i even took it out of his had gently ..... but it sounded like i was strangling him .....
i wasnt sure what to do .... he didnt want a cuddle ... so let him have it out on the floor
Lea I know what you mea my two do the same thing Jack sounds like a girl when he dose it.
Kathryn the twins will be our last as well kinda sad really. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHTON.
Well Jessica had her scan and has now been refered for a MRI at PMH in Perth on the 18th so its off we go on a 800km journey 400km thier and 400km back, my biggest fear is they are giving her a general Anaesthetic so she stays still while they do the scan.
Jess has got three more teeth since I was hear last so that makes a total of five its realy cute cause she is missing one frount tooth but has the one next to it and when she smiles she looks like of of thr sqirrels from chip and dale not sure whtch one has the big teeth.
Jack is still crusin the funiture and still has only two teeth and has just discovered the DOG LICKS ( YUK ) he thinks Chevy is a face washer I have to remember to put him out when Jack is on the loose.
We are planning the twins....( OPPS been told not to call them that ) birthday for sat 27th at1pm for the little ones then at 5pm we are going to have a BBQ for all the adults and older cosins so it will be a very busy day I can see myself cleaning up for a week after.
I hope all you ladies with sick ones get better soon.
