LOL Viv, I love it!
hi ladies,
I'm not at all looking forward to Tahlias injections after all of the stories I've heard in here... I think I'm definitely going to take DH with me when they happen for the moral support!
Nickers - sorry to hear Nixon is not well, hope he gets better soon
Trish - Just over the last few days Tahlia has been so much quicker at feeding, she must be getting more efficient at sucking. I just gave her a bottle with some EBM in it and it felt so strange! I much prefer her drinking from me... usually when she has had a bottle before my DH has given it to her, but I thought I should have a go to get used to it as well!
Good to hear from you Catherine, make sure you keep us updated
Tahlia slept through again last night from 11 till 7.30, so that makes it 4 nights in a row! Woo hoo for us!
Melb gals - did we decide on a date for the next meet up?
Trish Myles feeds are quite quick during the day, but his night feed before he goes to sleep is quite long!
I bought an Ergo carrier yesterday, and its fabulous! Went shopping today with Myles in it and fed him while shopping! So easy! I love my HAB bu this is so much easier and DH will use it!
Not much else happening here just the same! So excited about christmas, I love it! we cant wait to see our family and have a day of eating whatever!!!!!!
Sorry I have relpied to everyone you all talk so much!:)
x
Boomba - how do you cary him in the Ergo? I have one but thought I had to wait 4 months until their head control was better. Are his legs OK being so far apart? Yo may inspire me to try as we have tried a sling - NO, the HAB - OK, and another carrier like a HAB that was also OK but I am busting to use my Ergo. I loved it with Eliza!
Nic - so sorry to hear you guys are so sick. My brother is also having a run of it in his place and he reckons he has a "sick" house. He is testing for lead in the paint etc. His family have been in on and off sick since about May.
Caitlyn just had her shots - 2 seconds of crying and that was it!!! YAY!!! For such a sooky baby she did really well. And just to get DH back - he had to hold her - on his birthday!!!
She weighs 5.25 kg now! Woohoo!!!
The nurse stuffed up though and marked us down as being finished so the Dr didnt take us in for over an hour!! Oh well - he is a great doc and worth waiting for!
Kellie i think we only decided on a weekend after christmas.
Nic hope Nix gets better soon.
leah I asked the sales lady if he would need the infant insert and she said no, so I poped him in yesterday and he was a bit fidigety but today I walked down the shop and he was fine! It supportes his neck ok and just put the hood up when he was sleeping? His legs were ok i think? Hope he is alright or I will be back to shop telling the lady off!lol!x
Nixon has tonsilitis. explains the vomitting, high temps etc. Thismorning after running a temp of 39.4 he started shivering and had blue lips. so still couldnt get Tyron's needles as doc said its hard enough having to look after 1 sick child if Ty wasnt well after them and his chest is still real heavy mucousy. SO i've booked in for Thursday to have them done and a follow up on Nix as a few days on anti-biotics should hav kicked in.
Nixon was only sick once in his first 12 months in Melboure and i swear since we have lived in Sydney for 6 months he has been sick atleast half a dozen times maybe more.
Mo & Amber your ticker pics are cool hehe!!
Catherine - thanks for the tip RE: hot and cold compresses!
Was at the doc today for Max to get his needles (yucky!!!!) and the doc checked my boob. She said to just keep massaging it and feeding from it etc. It's a bit painful in the nipple area too so I'm using a shield which is helping.
How awful are needles. I swear Max had real tears, I have never heard him cry like that before ever. He was asleep before it happened so she gave him the oral stuff first, then the doc and nurse gave him a needle...one in each leg at the same time. It was sooooo sad! He has slept, and fed and now he seems like little normal Maxxy again. Just about ready for a nap. Thank goodness for the thunder thighs!
Nickers - Tonsilitis is awful. I remember having it as a kid. Ended up having to get tonsils and adenoids out when I was 10, and I was always really healthy after that.
I hate immunisations!!!! Amar ahas been screaming since 2pm - not crying SCREAMING, lip quiver full on screaming. Won't feed, won't take dummy does not matter what I do. To make it worse I had to pick Eliza up from preschool so she screamed all the way there and all the way back. I am ready to cry too!
I want my happy bubba back!!! (wishing she had thunder thighs)
Oh I am so glad my lil michelin man has the biggest thunder thighs around. I am so not looking forward to his imm's on the 29th!! Glad DH is taking him otherwise I don't think I would be able to cope!!
Ohhhh I didnt/dont think Caitlyn has thunder thighs but she has taken immunisations really really well. They happened at 12 and we got home just before 1240, had a bottle and has been sleeping ever since! Yay! For once I dont have the unhappiest baby in the world. I must admit i was really really dreading how she would go with them. She was asleep at first too but we put her on the table and the Dr checked her hips and she woke up (not grumpy) and then the Dr gave her the oral stuff which she LOVED! Then both the nurse and the Dr jabbed her in a thigh each and then the Dr jabbed her again. She cried a little but about 2 mins later she was happily sucking on her dummy! Gotta love Panadol I guess!
Oh Nic - Poor thing. I hate seeing my kiddies sick. Breaks my heart. I hope he gets better soon.
YAY!!!! Chels slept from 10pm yesterday until 9am this morning!!!!! 11 hours!!!! Surely that is unnatural????? But she is fine today, her normal self, eating and sleeping fine. I thought she might have been sick or something but nope, she is fine. Just decided to give Mummy a sleep in!!! YAY.
We have needles on Thursday. Not looking forward to it, although Liam was always fine with them. Fingers crossed....
Rebecca - how come she had 3 needles? Did you have something extra? We also had the oral thing - its for Rota virus, A hated it but only 'cos it was cold LOL.
She has finally stopped screaming :) prolly only Panadol kicking in - tonight will be fun - NOT!!
Leah - Max started screaming again (what was I thinking, normal little Maxxy!!) so I gave him some baby panadol, he is totally zonked out now in his cot. I reckon he would sleep on the wing of an aeroplane give him the chance!!!
Do you have some baby panadol? My health care nurse told us to get some just in case....they have changed the drugs now so not many babes need it, but doc told me that their legs can be a bit tender, so I reckon that even though Max is a chunker, it's still hurting him enough to let me know about it. Yay Panadol!
Becky - YAY that is a VERY big sleep....Wouldn't say that is unnatural at all....just thoughtful!!
Leah - our babes are born on the same day but our tickers say different things!!! I probably got the time zone wrong!!!
Ummm... I dont think she had anything extra....Diptheria tetanus, pertussis and polio in one, Hib and Hep B in another and pneumococcal in the other. Plus the rotavirus thing. Nothing extra as far as I am aware...maybe your doc's needles had more things combined in one shot than mine?! IDK
I'm pretty sure Maddi had 3 needles as well plus the oral thing.
I cried when Maddi got her needles, they way she looked at me & the tears running down her face.
Maddi has the thunder thighs & she still screamed, was fine about 5 mins after the needles tho.
Maddi has very strange taste in music for an almost 3 month old.
She's really into ZZ Top, fav song is Sharp Dressed Man.
LOL Mo, My hubby said he is very proud! LOL. He loves ZZ Top!!!
My DS is very much into KISS! He has had it drummed into him from conception though!
Max loves Silverchair!
Just thought I would pop in and say a quick hello!... Way too many pages to go back and read. And way too much happening for us with Christmas, DH 30th Birthday and sisters wedding on NYE coming... so haven't been on much and won't be for the next couple of weeks I imagine!
Anyways... K still has lots of crying, sometimes even screaming time, BUT is sleeping heaps more! Last night she did a champion 10-hours, the night before 8-hours and the night before that 9-hours... fingers crossed she keeps it up!!
Hope all your bubs are doing well and you all have a FABULOUS Christmas!
PS I received my SS pressie and it is sitting under the tree... I had a sneak peak at K's pressie and LOVE the pink tree ornament, which is now front and centre on our Chritsmas tree. Not sure who my SS is but THANK YOU very much!!
We had Theo's needles done last week. He was unhappy for the rest of that day, but then fine.
The worst part was that Will, my eldest son ( 4 1/2) was there, holding Theo's hand, and when the needle went in, Theo cried, and Will cried too! I was crying because Will had tears rolling down his cheeks, but he had his hand on Theo's shoulder, and he was saying "it's alright mate, you're ok..."
It made me cry, because he is such a great big brother...
Qhi - that story brought a tear to my eye - what a beautiful big brother!!
I'm taking Mateo to get his needles tomorrow. :-( Not looking forward to it!
He has been such a good boy lately - we have had party after party since Friday night till today and he has been passed around like a little doll at each one and has been an absolute little champion! His sleeps are getting bigger over the night too - between 4 and 7 hours now, so let's hope that continues!
Claire - yeah it's not too bad cutting out dairy - missing milk on my cereal though!
Amber - Tell me the logistics of how you fed Myles while shopping - I want to know that trick!
Ni ni's all.
Terri. xo
Thanks for the needle stories makes me feel better I am not the only one.
LOL Minimax - maybe I have the timezone wrong?
Rebecca - yeah we had a thing called Infanrix Hexa (6 in 1) gotta love one less needle. When I had Eliza done I paid about $130 a shot to get it so she would not have to have an extra needle, now down here it is free. I think it was just new when Eliza was born. I also had to pay about $130 a shot for Pnemoccocal for Eliza which is now free :)
Amara is much better now, having a sleep, hope she goes through to 5am.
Night,
Hi all
Got a few weeks before my little man has to go for his vax. He turns 2 months over Xmas so we are waiting until after New Years. I am such a wuss that I'll be sure to cry. Might buy some baby panadol just in case we need it. I'm sure it will be used at some point.
After a busy couple of days have the next few days at home. DH is suffering sleep deprivation so has called in sick from work. I don't know what he is complaining about, he's not the one up twice a night feeding, changing and nursing the baby. Men!
Proud of L. He had his last feed at 10.30pm and the next one was at 4.45am! We had a big day yesterday so I think he was really tired. So far today has only been sleeping in 30 min blocks. He has started to squawk again so best get to him before he wakes up DH.
I'll pop back later
Hi everyone!
Nothing very exciting to report today. Kieran was unsettled for his morning sleep so I whacked him in the pram and took him & Joel for a walk to the shops and posted a parcel. At least I got something practical done! I fed K again & he went down for his next nap without any problems, hopefully he stays asleep :crossfingers:
Saffi - It's funny how men can take days off, what about us mums??? Can we have a day off for sleep deprivation? LOL, men are hopeless sometimes!
Star - Good luck with the needles today. It's not nice is it. I hope Mateo copes well for you.
Qui - Your ticker photos are gorgeous!
Peta - Kaylee is doing sensational sleeps! Lucky you!!
Mo - So cute she loves ZZ Top! I haven't noticed Kieran preferring any particular music yet. Hopefully he likes U2 & Powderfinger!
Rebecca - Just noticed you got an Av, very nice!
Nic - I hope Nixon is a bit better today.
Hi to everyone else, have a great day!
Trish - I only just got my Av!!! Didnt even notice till you pointed it out - thanks! Just wish I was that skinny!
Caitlyn had a pretty good night last even despite having her needles. She slept from 630 till 1030 but then wouldnt take a feed. Then woke again at 12 for a feed and then at 430 and wouldnt go back to sleep. I just wish DH wouldnt insist on just putting her to sleep when she gets restless. I have tried to tell him to keep her up for a bit until she gives out tired signals but he thinks its just easier to put her to sleep. Hes not the one getting up at all hours to feed her.
Saffi - He gets a day off for sleep deprivation???? Wow - just wish I could do that too. Little miss isnt sleeping much at all today unless she is in my arms which means I havent even had my shower yet. Will wait till DH comes home for lunch and grab one then!
Caitlyn got her first Christmas present yesterday. From her grandparents in WA. A mobile for he cot - unfortnuately it doesnt fit the cot. We already bought one almost exactly the same so we dont know what we are going to do. Oh well - when they come in April we will say that she started pulling on it so we took it down.
Anyway - she is playing on her little playmat and I can hear her swiping at things - dont want to miss that!
morning all
had MIL down here for baby worship this morning. she's a retired middy and she did something to the little fella and he's having a great sleep. :confetti: secret middy business
about music - james loves everything, especially if i hold him and dance to it. his list of faves at the mo:
1) christina aguilera's christmas disc
2) jazz anything
3) frank sinatra
4) mariah's happy songs (not the sad ones, they make him cry)
5) jackson 5 (especially if mummy does the retro dancing)
about vax... the rotavirus showed itself. can't remember if i mentioned. he had squirty bot and tummy gurgles. i hate the live ones. the nurse reckons the later shots react even more than these. hooray *sarcastic*.
otherwise, he's himself again. saffi, do have the panadol nearby. worked really well for jj.
nickers - that's awful about the tonsillitis and 39.5 temp. you must be super worried. hope he gets better before christmas.
someone's waking up - better jet.
qhi - what a great big brother, that is so sweet!
Tahlia loves Michael Buble, if she is crying in the car, I put the cd on and she goes to sleep! Must be because she heard it a million times while I was pregnant!
I totally jinxed myself bragging about Tahlia sleeping through the night... after it taking ages for her to settle last night, she woke at 3am and was awake until 4.30 and then again at 7.15... I feel very tired today, I got used to long sleeps very quickly... lets hope the sleeping through pattern returns tonight.
All these bubs have such interesting music tastes! I've been slack and haven't put much music on lately. The stereo in my old car was broken so Kieran is just getting used to mummy singing along in the car now I have a new car! The poor boys, I can't resist singing!
Kellie - Maybe Tahlia is having a growth spurt? Kieran had a night like that recently, but it was a one off thankfully. I have my fingers crossed for you tonight!
another slacko here havent played much music in the house of late. silly seeings we have 500+ cd's to choose from lol!
hard to say if Nixon is any better, every time he wakes he is very upset, obviously because he doesn't feel well and he doesn't know how to express it. I had to console him for over 30mins when he woke from a good 2hr sleep today he kicked and screamed for 30min. and what did the trick in the end..... good old wiggles!! speaking of which DH has been moving their gear around this tour and got tix for Nix & his couisn and he is taking them to see them this Sat! So wanna get him better for that and im quiet surprised DH wants to take 2 x 20month olds on his own!
i can feel Nixon's swollen tonsils outside of his neck poor boy and he is getting skinner by the minute, all he has eaten today is 1 x banana (half for breakfast half for lunch) one cube of watermelon and half a pc of plain bread. Yesterday he ate even less.
Rebecca- your Av looks awesome!
qhi- oh thats soooo sweet! what a loving big bro
anyway back to disinfecting for me... once i got sarted i realised how many things need cleaning. now i have a list i just made a whole heap more work for myself! Just think how many things Nixon has touched after wiping his snotty face with his hand, ive been following him around with a tissue but the germs are still lingering.
Question: Can your DH's wrap bub? Mine is hopeless. i have given him numerous lessons on it, i went through the same when Nix was a bub he couldnt do it. Admittantly sometimes Tyron gets out of my wraps but most of the time its pretty good. but EVERYTIME dh wraps he gets out and wakes himself up. I dealt with a number of wakes through the night cause dh put him to bed and didnt wrap properly.
but when i say something his answer is that i should just do it evey time rather then do it properly himself!!
Nic - My DH hasn't wrapped Kieran, bathed him or changed him once yet! He has put one nappy on him since he was born. So I have NO idea if his wrapping is any good, LOL! He used to wrap Joel well though. BTW - LOVE Tyron's santa pic in your ticker, he looks so cute!
hey ladies
lachie likes daft punk, metalica, britney but his fav is bob marley, must be the reggae style:)
he is still going well, sleeping well and all. although i did have a grumpy afternoon yesterday and got stressed so im glad it was craigs day off i handed him over:)
expressed for the first time last night and got 90mls, lachie had all of it out of a bottle straight away lol.
q for the day
if i give him a formula every once in a while will my milk dry up??? my mum is baby sitting tomorrow and i dont know if i can be bothered expressing agagin. hard work!!
Our babies certainly have interesting tatse in music lol.
Rebecca nice av.
Qhi how sweet of Will.
Nic Phil can't wrap Maddi, showed him how & he still doesn't get it.
DH wraps (not as good as me LOL), changes nappies, settles him, bathes him. He does everything except BF. Sometimes I think he is better than me at these things.
L listens to lullabies made from Nirvana, Metallica, No Doubt, and Cold Play songs. We've set up my iPod in the nursery so sometimes just play whatever comes up. Ministry of Sound, Top 40, Jazz, whatever....
Don't know what is up with L today. He has only slept in short blocks and this afternoon no more than about 20 minutes at once. He screams and then falls asleep and then will wake up not too long after. I know he is overtired but how do you get him to stay asleep? About to give him a bath and a feed and that usually sends him off for hours. Hopefully tomorrow will be better......
S
Nic - My DH does the same. Caitlyn wakes up about 30 mins after he has wrapped her cause she has unwrapped herself. However I found a solution! I bought this thing called a snuggle wrap - suffice to say there is some velcro involved! Its like a t-shaped thing that wraps around her and her little feet go in this pouch. Velcro holds it all together and to do a nappy change you can just drop the pouch thing down and re-seal it after. I got too tired of havig to get up to rewrap her.
Saffi - I know every bub is differnt but when Caitlyn is over tired the only way I can get her to sleep for more than half an hour is to sleep with her. (Such a shame!!) Or to pop a movie on and let her sleep in my arms for an hour and then transfer her to her cot. And sometimes I even just keep holding her till she wakes up.
I have to say that I havent played any music to Caitlyn. Oh yes I have and unfortunately it was Brooks and Dunn and she didnt mind it! WE dont have a stereo in the house and besides most of my music is on my computer anyway. MIght spend the weekend burnin to CD so I can play some on the DVD player.
I dont wrap Max, i use a grobag..... love it. He likes to sleep with his arms up above his head, so would always bust out of wrapping. Must say though, DH was better at wrapping than me....I had to get more than one lesson from him!! I save my wrapping skills for Xmas presents!!
Hey all
Well once again Chels has been a little angel today! All she does is sleep! Lol
My poor little boy though. I think he is coming down with something. He was so hot and so sleep this afternoon which is just not like hip. He seemed really lethargic. I will see how he is in the morning though. God I hate it when my babies are sick!
1 more day til Doom Day!!!! (Needles....LOL)
Sorry, no personals tonight. Im a bit too tired. Speak to you all tomorrow!
I don't wrap either - like Max, Harry sleeps with his hands above his head.
MissKate -my sis successfully bf and gave a bottle of formula for the dream feed every night. Everyone is different though. I doubt your milk will dry up but you might find a decrease in supply the next day and baby will have to feed more to increase supply again.
Harry had his immunisations yesterday. I had all of them done. He seems OK today, a little warm and a bit grizzly but otherwise fine.
Nic - I got your Christmas postcard. Such cute kids you've got there! Thanks for the other pictures too xx
Harry was weighed and measured: he's 6.09kg, 61cms and head circ 40cm. Such a little bruiser. He's just going into 00's now.
Mo- i was walking in Frankston yesterday i saw the big christmas tree, reminded me that you asked AGES ago about Frankston lights, sorry i ignored ya! ;) I'm not sure which lights you are talking about though so i'm actually no help at all!
Amber and Leah- I have an ergo too. Hanging out to use it. Amber how do you get Myles' legs to go wide enough? Short of snapping Lu's legs i still can't fit her in!
Had a Falguni day two days ago. Tried to sell her.............must have been asking too much. Lucky though she is right back on track... decided to keep her.
Off walking up a BIG hill....
