Ange I dont know how I did it? I am wondering if maybe I shouldnt use it again yet? His legs are fine though so I dont know? Gee what sort of a mum am I?lol! He does have long legs so I dont know!Arghh!
Saffi can you tell me the name of that lullaby cd? Its sounds great, not so much for Myles but for me! hehe!
Myles is getting drowned out by Kylies new cd and Spice girls greatest hits at the moment,I know sad hey!
but he loves anything like his mum! Oh He does cry when Delta comes on ha!
We havent wrapped him since the hospital cause he likes to sleep with his arms above his head or out to the side like a plane!:)
Has everyone finished their christmas shopping? I finally have yay!!!! Cant wait for christmas morning!
Better go have some brekky! xo
Got to have a laugh...........................................
Decided I would walk to the shops this morning rather than the whole in/out of car thing. So Maddi sleeps at first then is awake smiling and cooing well....then coming home she starts screaming like she's in pain so now I'm pushing the pram and trying to comfort screaming child...it seems Maddi doesn't like the sound of passing traffic esp trucks!!!! Finally make it to side street for quieter walk home and a truck street sweeper decides to join us....argh...how fast can I walk now???? Drama over we are now safe and sound at home......not doing that again anytime soon!
Yes I've completed my Xmas shopping now just have to do the wrapping.
Claire - glad to hear Harry is doing OK after his needles...sorry didn't make Monday meet-up, had James Xmas concert at school. When is the next one....after Xmas/New Year???
Nix - sorry to hear poor Nix has tonsillitis - hope the ABs are kicking in and making him better.
Saffi - curious abt lullabies as well, how did you get them?
It is lovely to see all those Xmas babies on the tickers...each and everyone is adorable!!!!
I don't wrap Maddi either cos she likes to sleep with her hands above her as well and the last two nights she has started rolling from her back to her left side and sleeps in that position.....just like her Mummy! On the music side of things we are listening to Human Nature and David Campbell...thinking abt setting up an ipod and speakers like someone mentioned...great idea!!!
DH wraps Tahlia well, he also does pretty much everything else, except bf obviously... I am lucky!
We have to wrap Tahlia otherwise she throws her arms around and wakes herself up
Mo - the 5/6 Jan would be better for me, lunch might be nice
We had a better night last night, it still took ages to settle her (ended up going for a drive with her), but once she settled at 11.30, she didn't wake until 6 which was pretty nice! Hopefully we are back on track for the sleeping through pattern!
Rebecca- where did u find the snuggle wrap? and how much are they? I bet if i told dh about this he would jump at the offer lol! he already told me i should invent something like that for ppl like him!
Trish- gosh how do u do it ALL yourself? I make dh chae nappies, feed Tyron put him tobed etc obviously i do it majority of the timebut when he is home is think he can chip in and i am with Nixon well he has no choice!
well dunno that the AB are helping Nix much. his tonsils/glads are real swollen and u can see it in his neck how swollen they are. he wakes up very un happy and takes a lot to console him after he works himself up.
Ursula- isnt that the worse when u ae out and cant dmuch about it, glad you got home sae and sound!
i love all the xmas tickers too, soooo cute!
Kate- i dont think your milk would dry up from one feed a day but that feed that you miss your supply would obviously drop off, you'd still have plenty for every other feed but yoour body would respind to dropping a feed.
saffi- hope you had a settled night and the bath etc did the trick.
so did everyone receive thei SS gift? havent had an email from anyone saying they dont have it so i assume aus post did their job! ursula did you get your's? cant remember if u already told me or not.
Hey all,
So tired today! Kieran woke up all smiley and happy at 1:30am. I just re-wrapped him, put his dummy back in and went back to bed, luckily he didn't wake again until later. I like his smiles, but not at that time of the morning!
Melb girls - Sat the 4th of Jan would suit me, but I am happy to go with the majority. Will other's bring their DH's? I hope you don't mind if mine comes!
Ursula - What a stressful pram trip! My DS1 used to HATE being in his pram and would scream non-stop. My neighbours always wondered why I was pushing a pram, but holding my baby!
Boomba - Well done on getting your Chrissy shopping all done! The only person left on my list is DH!
Have a great day mummies!
Nic - It's just easier to do it myself rather than nag! I do all the cooking, washing, ironing and housework too. To DH's credit he does bath Joel and put him to bed if he gets home from work on time. When he gets home late I find it pretty tiring to look after both boys, cook and clean up all by myself. DH works long hours sometimes so I feel a bit bad asking him to do stuff when he gets home.
I hope Nixon gets better soon, the poor little man sounds a bit miserable :(
Nickers - I have PM'd you a couple of sites to look at - I do most, if not all, of my shopping online for Caitlyn. The wraps like the one I bought are around $30 - worth EVERY cent I think - but you can buy different ones for cheaper. Just gotta get DH to do the velcro thing right - if you miss one bit - then baby will break out!
Trish - did you mean the 5th of Jan (cause thats a Saturday) - then sounds good to me too... I think my DH will probably come too
5th of Jan is fine by me, Phil will be coming.
Should we make it 11:30/12ish.
Did we decide on the botanic gardens?
Whoops, yep Kellie! Baby brain strikes again!
ETA - Mo, that time sounds good and I think we did agree on the botanic gardens. Should we meet at the cafe in middle next to the lake? The food there is really nice and quite reasonably priced.
Nickers Yep recieved my SS and cant wait to open it christmas morning!
All the bubbas are looking so festive in their tickers!
x
Melb gals - 11.30 at the cafe on the 5th of Jan sounds good to me
Trish - is the cafe called the Observatory cafe?
Hi All,
Amara is having agreat sleep, went down at 10am and is still asleep 1pm!!!
I wrap Amara, she also likes to sleep with hands next to head but our MCHN showed us a wrap so she can still do that. I f I don't wrap her she wakes herself up with the startle reflex thing.
DH work Xmas party tonight YUK!! didn't want to go but he really thought we should - carp! A group of teachers hanging out is NOT fun (no offence intended to any teachers out there) its just all they do is talk about school.
Have not really played much music to Amara yet, she has to suffer Eliza's kids songs whenever we are in the car though LOL!
She has also figured out how to kick her Pooh gym toy thing and make it play music and light up - pretty clever, she smiles and laughs at it, too cute. Have bought her a playgym thing to lie under for Xmas.
All seems better after needles though yesterday still festy. I also spoke to Doc about not having my Posrtnatal check and he wsn't fussed he said come some time in January so I don't feel guilty anymore.
Better run for now,
Kellie - I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm pretty sure it is the only cafe there. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone! There are signs everywhere pointing to where it is, but it is right next to the lake if that helps. Maybe we should all swap mobile phone numbers in case anyone gets lost?
Thanks rebecca i just ordered one! did express post and hope it gets here before xmas and i will wrap it to dh from Tyron lol! so its ok even in the hot weather i assume cause its hot where u are right?
Leah tht is very clever of Amara to kick the toy thing!
How hard do you guys find it NOT to smile back at your baby in the middle of the night?!
after Tyron's feed which could be anytime between 2-5am and i change his nappy, rewrap he lays there and smiles at me and takes all my might to not goo and gah back at him cause i want him to know its still bedtime!
Nic - Yeah we use it all the time but our whole place has the air con running all the time cause it is so hot. They are fairly liht weight tho - not as light weight as the muslin wraps of course but she seems to sleep for longer with it than the muslin. I hope it helps your DH with his wrapping!
Gosh - if only Caitlyn would just lie there while I changer her bum and re-wrap her in the middle of the night! She cries! I just dont have a very happy baby I think! She will smile at me if I get to her before her crying gets serious but most of the time I dont hear her in time at night before she is really crying. However, this co-sleepin thing seems to work ok. Had her down in her cot this morning and she was only there for half an hour. She stirred so I took her to bed with me and we both slept (thank god - i needed it!) for close to 3 hours! Woohoo. DH can sleep on the couch from now on me thinks!
Hi girls,
Sorry all I seem to do it whinge on this forum. Having a really bad couple of days. Ethan seems to have a lot of wind and is screaming a lot. We are using infacol which seems to help him burp but he is still screaming. He will only sleep for about 40 min and then wakes up crying and takes a long time to settle. I am finding it really difficult being a Mum at the moment. Hubby has just moved the location of where he works and takes our one and only car to work so I am stranded. Any ideas on how to help Ethan? Things were going so well as he had just stopped his middle of the night feed and only woke up once for the dummy but now is awake a lot. Having such a bad day. Help!!!!!
Ursula - What about the 7th Jan being the first meet-up in the new year? I will keep going over Christmas as Emily likes to go and I'm all for routine. Heather is coming on Christmas Eve. You're more than welcome otherwise let's say the 7th.
Nic - From memory it takes 3 days for antibiotics to reach the level needed to actually start doing anything. After that though Emily quickly recovered - let's hope Nixon does the same. Middle of the night changing: Harry stopped pooing overnight a few weeks ago so I've stopped changing him (Emily didn't do it tillshe was 5 months old) I use a baby beehinds bamboo and it really is the best night nappy ever. I just pop him on the boob and he goes back to sleep.
Alz - I'm not sure what to suggest - Is he bottle fed? Maybe he's intolerant to the milk.
Sorry alz, I really dont have many suggestions to help. My kids have never really had wind problems. I really hope it gets better for you soon though. A crying baby can be so stressful....
Rebecca - Can you Pm me that site to about the wraps? I dont know if I really need one, if Chels is in a really deep sleep and kicks herself out, she can usually stay asleep too, but just thought I might have a look? Ta
Im finished my Chrisy shopping too!!!! YAY!! And I seriously dont plan on going to the shops at all until after XMas now! Its just too busy, and too exhausting dragging 2 kids around! LOL
Alz- I know how you feel. I have the same prob with Caitlyn and with DH taking the car although where I live there are not many places to go anyway - but having the opportunity to go somewhere would be nice sometimes.
If you have been using INfacol for a while it may now not be as helpful for him as it was. Maybe try something else - marina's infant mixture, infants friend, braurs colic relief or stomach calm? Caitlyn can take up to 2 hours to settle after a feed sometimes. But other times she is a pleasure and calms down within an hour.
I too have some bad days where i really dont enjoy being a mum. I think it is just trial and error. Are you sure its wind? Caitlyn's poo goes a really different khaki colour when its wind other than that she is just a grumpy baby and I have to wrap her nice and snug and cuddle her for a while in a nice quiet room. Having too much stimulation can set her off.
I think you just have to keep trying until you find what works for Ethan.
Awww Viv that is the cutest christmas card.
He is gonna be such a ladies man lol
Where did you get it done?
afternoon ladies,
how are you all today?? we are going well, didnt have much sleep today but he is snoozing in his cot now, not a very deep sleep but sleep all the same. am thinking i might have to wrap him during the day if he keeps this up, granted i have no idea how to wrap lol. havent done it since the hospital:P
Amber- if Myles is comfy i'd just keep using it! do his legs hang out the sides? I'm sure it is fine, he'd squeal if he wasn't comfy right? Lu's legs don't go wide enough.
Sorry- Guilty of post skimming........... it's a busy time of year! sorry will go back and have a read later on.....
Melb meetup- will try and get there on the 5th. Fly back from King Island on the 3rd, so will see how i'm travelling!
Caught the train into melb today, it's an hour trip. Why does my baby who rarely cries decide to scream at the top of her lungs on the train????? I'm sure they are wiser than i give them credit for.....got a few dirty looks........i just smiled...... but it was nothing a bit 'o' boob couldn't fix. ;)
ETA- i just put in a request to change my user name...........
Morning all....
Max changed his routine yesterday.....now I don't know what I am doing. He followed a pretty sturdy one....feeding at 7, 10, 1, 4, 7, 10....but last night, after his 7pm feed he stayed asleep and skipped the 10pm.
He woke at 5:30 for a feed (a really good one too....a bit too much for him too I think as he spewed up some all over himself!!), now he's back asleep again. I'm not sure whether I should try and put him back onto the same routine or just see how the day goes. It makes life so much easier when he is following the times. I can tell people when they can come over etc. and also know when I can go out. hmmmmm...
Might see if I can stretch his next feed to 10am. Might also just eat some toast and go back to bed myself.
I feel for the girls out there that are left stranded in the house with no car. I have had to do that a few days and it is awful. Makes you feel so ALONE! Like you are stuck on a desert Island!
I walked to the shops yesterday thinking that it was going to be too busy to get a parking spot, but when I got there, there were parking spots everywhere! Oh well, had a nice walk!!
Hope everyone has a good day, I'll check in later
Morning all!
Had a fairly good night, Kieran had his last feed at 9:30pm, woke at 1:30am and I re-wrapped him and gave him a dummy and he slept 'til 5am, then I woke him at 7am to start our day. Not too bad! His face rash has cleared up, but he now has really dry skin on his face from it. Does anyone know what is safe to put on a bub's face? I'm a bit apprehensive to put anything on it because he seems to have such sensitive skin.
I got another muslin wrap in the mail yesterday (eBay is so handy when it's hard to leave the house!) which is nice and long so I reckon we'll be able to use it for quite a few months. His current muslin one is nice and long for wrapping across, but his feet are starting to stick out of the bottom, the new one is longer both ways. I like the idea of those wraps with velcro!
MiniMax - It's frustrating when they get out of routine for the day! IKWYM. Hopefully you can get him back into the swing of it today. BTW, we follow the same routine times!
Ange - Hope you can make the meet up! King Island sounds great, I've never been to Tassie. Gee you get around!! What are you changing your username to?
alz - I hope your little man is feeling better today. It is so hard on you when they cry all the time  . I suppose if he keeps it up it may be worth getting him checked over by a Dr?
Trish - swapping mobile numbers is a good idea
rebecca or nickers - could you please pm me the site with the velcro wraps?
Vivienne - that is a gorgeous Christmas card - thanks!
I think I need to start enforcing more of a routine for Tahlia, from about 6.30 till 10.30 - 11, she is so unsettled, I think its from being overtired, so I need to force some more day time sleeps I think, however she doesn't seem to like that idea! She has just gone down now, so fingers crossed she stays asleep for a little while. Thankfully once she does settle around that time she stays asleep until about 6ish.
I was in the parents room at the local shopping centre yesterday, and there was a mum in there with 5week old twins and a 16 month old bub - how crazy would that be? We told her that she deserved a medal!
I can't believe its only 5 days till Chrissy - our bubbas first one! Is everyone all prepared? who is having lunch at their own place? Thankfully my mum is doing it this year, I have no idea how I would get all the preparation done while looking after Tahlia!
Wow the wraps are quite popular! All those that asked for a pm - have done (I think!?) Enjoy
Caitlyn and I had another carppy night last night! She slept in her swing from 7 til about 8 when I put her in her cot. She slept there till 10 which was good but when she woke up for a feed I couldnt get her to go back to sleep until 1220! And then she was awake an hour later for a feed! Then it only took 15 mins to get her back to sleep cause she was in our bed by that stage. Awake again at 430 for a feed and then awake at 530 and wouldnt go back to sleep! I think it might be because she only takes about 60 ml before she pushes away at the bottle. Everyone keeps telling me to wake her and make her drink more but how on earth do you make a baby drink more?!
She went for a nap at 830 in bed with me and woke again at 1030 so at least I caught another 2 hours - have heaps to do today! gotta drop the paperwork into the child care centre and do the groceries - which I am dreading! Think I might leave those until DH comes home so I can get some baby free time and regain some semblance of sanity!
you should get some commision Rebecca recommending all these products lol!
Kellie- wow that would be full on that lady with twins and a 16m old.
for those who i have your email addy i will send u this pic of a lady who had sextuplets, now if you thought you had a big belly wait till u c hers!
Tyron just had his needles. Did anyone else's bub have he oral one which is new for rotavirus or something? i hadn't heard of it but he had it anyway.
When Caitlyn had her shots on Monday she had the oral thing. My Doc said its a fairly new thing!
Nic-Maddi had the oral one as well.
Trish-Great idea about the numbers, will PM them to you both, Ange you should still have my number so wont PM it to you :)
Just got back from shopping boy is it hetic out there, Brought Maddi some chirssy presents
She loves Elmo's new friend Abby Cadabby, when she saw her was laughing and smiling, i just had to buy Abby for her.
For those whose email addies I don't have, I have posted the Christmas card to my facebook. If i don't have you on my page - it's V____ R____
Mo - i made the card on photoshop. I was a bit cheeky in my law degree and took a multimedia class heheh... still counted. comes in handy for baby cards.
Nickers - DH is 'the' quintessential wrapper in our household. We called it the spider wrap when he was in muslins because it looked like bugs when the spider has wrapped them before dinner. Now he's too long so we're using these light cotton wrap/sheet numbers that my friend's mum sewed up for us.
My bug bear for today - vomit. gah. i thought he was a vom bag because my milk flow was so high. so i moved to bottles of EBM because he seemed to cope better. he chucked a massive vom in the car today and it was just so, so sad. I'm going to see the CHN tomorrow and hopefully she can help me out. she's scary as all hell but she's been right about everything (baby wipe irritation, dummy, burping etc).
The other thing I feel like discussing is my weirdo body. I want to know how everyone feels about how they look now.
I only have 3.5kg (stubborn) to go but I am STILL two dress sizes bigger in bust and hips. how does that work. I figured out I still have 6 inches to lose from my waist and 2 inches from my hips. the bust is obviously going to stay until the gigantor beast stops feeding from them so I'm happy to deal with that.
My belly is jelly. Not unlike Santa. My abs are weak and I find it hard to do much with them. I think I managed 8 whole crunches *eye roll*.
I wonder if the big fella has wrecked the joint forever.
I now declare the body whinge forum open....
Viv - Re: body size, after I had Joel I eventually weighed less than before I was pg, BUT I went from a size 10 pre-pg body to a size 12! I thought it was weird because I weighed less, but I think it is because our bodies broaden to accomodate a bub, so because I was wider I couldn't fit into a 10 anymore :( . I couldn't blame my BB's because I dropped half a cup size! Wow, only 3.5kg to go, lucky you! I still have 7 to go, it took me 9 months last time to lose it all so I suppose the same will happen for me this time.
I'll join that forum.
I have cellulite where i didn't think i could have it! Although it is dissapearing. Still 2 sizes up on ar$e and 3 on bust. :( Hate shopping for clothes.....
Have flabby spare tyre. Have always had a flat stomach, have new pudgee one now.
Abs are ok, OB commented on how strong they were, me thinks it is from pre preg and surfing........ i'm surprised he could feel them through my layer of blubber..............
Have lost 21 kg's and 9 to go, but can not pull old pants above my knees...... ok, so 9kgs is still a fair bit.
I look at mum's walking around and look at how fit they look, then check out how old their baby is..........I'm obsessed! The mum's like someon who used to hang around here, but isnt at the moment, (Hi Cath! ;) ) who's tummy is back to normal..........let's just say it takes all of my self control not to chase after them..... Not sure what i'd do, maybe a facebook troutslap............. i'm just jelous!
My friends assure me that it takes at least 8-9months to get your body back, but it does happen. Feeling doubtful at the mo.....
I met a gal on the weekend who was 10kgs lighter than pre preg and looked like she'd never had a baby. She attributes it to breast feeding. Is it ok to feed Falguni until she is 18? What colour ribbon would i get then....?
Ooooo feel a bit lighter after a whinge.
So Viv- ya got my email and i got no card.............. got something against Falguni huh? :p I can take a hint. better go check it out on facebook.
ETA- clever clogs, cute card. Lu sucks her fists all day too. Do you give him a dummy? We don't but wondering if i should to head the thumb sucking off at the pass...... or maybe she'll just grow out of it.
Im hating my body too right now! Not so much the weight thing, just the 'flabby skin'. Im almost down to pre baby weight, but how do you get rid of the flab???? Grrrrr...... I just dont think diets and crap will help with that.
Chels had her needles this morning. Was very good. Cried for about 10 seconds and then was fine. She is sound asleep now. Hopefully stays that way for a little while! Im lucky though, DH held her. He held Liam for everyone of his needles too. Im a bit of a wuss. But she was so brave..........
ange - i'm sure i sent it to you. *scuffs toe on floor looking shameful*... i'm sure! oh well. pfft. i'll send you your own right now!
james does have a dummy or two now. i didn't want to at first but then it makes his life easier. he only gets it when he's unsettled before sleep and i confiscate it as soon as it looks like i can get away with it.
there is this woman called jennifer nicole lee who had 2 kids and has impossible abs. look her up if you want some hurl material.
i need a shout-out from my other caesar ladies on here. what's happening with your bellies?
ETA: jennifer's site is jennifernicolelee dot com
Viv you did an excellant job, i want one for Maddi.
Gonna see what kinda job i can do.
I weigh less than before i was preg & i still hate my body, must be the jelly tummy.
I need to work on that.
Any other melb girls getting the storms, our house was shaking earlier because of the thunder, i'm suprised we still have power.
Ange you crack me up Love your new username
Hhhmmm... me thinks Christmas won't help us at all with our post baby body dilemmas!!! Especially now I'm not pregnant everything is on the menu again!! Drooling over the thought of soft cheese and prawns.... YUM!
I'm up one size and still got 4 kilos to go to pre preg weight - the muffin top I now have is so gross...
Had Hayley's Paed follow up appt today and she was such a good girl - smiling at him and flashing her big blue eyes. I swear she was flirting with him - mind you I love this Paed, he is fantastic so I didn't discourage her :)
Thankyou those who have emailed/fbooked the gorgeous Christmas cards - very clever of you!
haha i'm now flying under the radar! ;)
I wouldn't even know what my weight is at the moment, all I can tell you is that I don't really like looking at myself in the mirror!!
