Happy Birthday Kate!! Hope you had a beautiful day and was spoilt rotten!!!
Becky - What gorgeous kids you have - such good sleepers!! Must be from having a lovely, calm Mummy. I think what you said about Brissy meet-ups is a great idea and the first Wednesday of every month sounds good to me! Maybe we can just change location every now and then for a change of scenery? Thanks for compliments on my little sister and cousins - yes they're very good kids. I was 17 when Demi was born so am kind of like her 2nd Mum rather than a big sister - she has always been a placid kid - when I compare how easy she was as a baby with Mateo - My God! What a difference!!!!! :-)
Mateo has been rolling since 6 days old - he is what my Dad calls a 'wiry little fella', he is never content just to be still he's always got to be moving and he rarely is happy just to sit still on your lap, he cracks it and I always have to stand up and rock! Hard work I tell you! I don't place too much importance on when they reach their little milestones, I think every baby is different, as long as they're developing healthily is all that matters.
Trish - awesome sleeping by Kieran! Mateo slept through the night for the first time on Saturday night - Yey!! Last night I couldn't wake him for his 10:30-11pm feed however, so he woke at 3am for a feed of course! Oh well, once is not too bad and if I can even get one full night's sleep a week I will be a happy Mum!
Off to doc's this morning - and paediatrician on Friday - Mateo is still having tummy troubles, poor baby. :-( Better go get ready!

Just FYI Kate, she has a 45 minute nap in the morning, a 2 to 2 an half hour nap midday an hour in the afternoon. :)
-
Nickers - just read post - Poor Nixon!! If only they could just tell us! I hope you are managing alright on your own - I would imagine it would be pretty full on and tiring!!
Also forgot to say to Catherine - Hope you are feeling better, that's terrible about the infection. Glad to hear Ro is well - what a great little sleeper - am so jealous of all these good sleepers - I only dream of such a life!!! :-)

Ill just add ofter reading your post Trish (and makes me feel bad for saying NO all the time to Chelsea), but i do also show her how to be nice to Jasmine, cuddle, be gentle etc....so im not always saying no and making her feel like she is in trouble!
Life without Craig has been hard but hey...this is how its going to be so i have to deal with it and move on. Other mums have to do it...so i have to as well!
I agree Nic...boys dont seem as interested in babies...my friends boys dont give a rats about Jasmine when we visit...LOL
-
Kim - I should have added that because Joel is 3 years old I can reason with him whereas Chelsea is only 1 and she will understand the word "no" more than you trying to explain things to her! Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel bad! If Joel was one I would be saying "no" about a million time a day! I should have said that in my reply earlier, it's still too early for my brain to function reasonably.
-
No Trish you didnt make me feel bad.... i just thought $hit i sound so bad saying 'i say No all the time'...but yes i understand what you are saying. Chelsea knows what i mean...but still continues to do something. What she doesnt understand is what she is actually doing wrong.Like poking Jasmines eyes could be dangerous... :(
She knows very well what no means..but chooses to ignore me!
-
Kim - I am sure you have done a marvellous job without Craig there.....am also sure that it has been hard! MY DH goes away on 2nd Feb for a week. So it will be just me and Caitlyn for that time.....joy joy joy. Although I must admit that he doesnt really do a lot with Caitlyn during the week (she is normally asleep by the time he gets home from work) the Saturday and Sunday that he is at home is my time to do things that I cant do with Caitlyn on my hip. Its going to happen regularly through the year as he is doing his last year of TAFE before finalising his apprenticeship.
Sleeping - Caitlyn is getting a little better. Mainly going down at around 830 and then not waking till 2 or 230. But she still wakes at 5 or 530 no matter what. This morning I walked into her room and the smell!!! For the first time she had pood and it wasnt during the feed!
Now for a nice question......does anyone else's bub have unusual coloured poos? Caitlyns are like an olive drab (army green) colour. Sometimes they are a mustard colour but more often than not they are like a grey green colour. Is this something I should be worried about? She seems otherwise to be a happy baby - coos and goos and smiles. My mum suggested she had a problem with wind but she burps and farts easily and normally without any back patting.
Anyway - got to get ready for work - have a good day all!

Hi all,
Nic - I got the message from Lori. Hope you manage to get through all those parties! Sorry we wont get to see eachother before I go. Take care and see you when I get back.
By the book - I sleep Harry on his back amd Emily too. Rolling = IMO it's natural for them to do this in their sleep so I don't interfere, from previous experience Emily would certainly let me know if she didn't like being in that position! Emily is allergic to dairy and Harry is showing similar signs but I'm not concerned about other allergies really. I eat peanut butter occasionally and don't avoid any of the other allergens, I just eat in moderation. No dummy here, he's already used his thumb a few times and I'm happy to encourage that for self settling.
Sleeping: Harry sleeps in our room in a hammock beside my side of the bed. Considering we are currently in a 2 bed place, I'm in no hurry to move him out. I'm happy he's in our room. I moved Emily into her own room in the first few weeks but still had to get up twice a night to feed using a chair in her room. Now all I have do is lean over and reach for Harry. A lot easier!
Lizzy - Emily isn't that interested in Harry to be honest but when she is I tend to watch and try not to jump in. She has done a few things to him and we talk about why that's not nice etc. So far so good!
We are off to the UK on Thursday - I can't belive how quickly it's come about! We are so excited.
Happy 3 month birthday Harry Willem!

I was studying to work in child care and there 'rules' are not to use any negative language...i.e. don't. I personally think it is a load of rubbish, and hence the reason I never went through working in child care. I can understand with older children and babies that you might want to tell them what 'not' to do in a positive manner, but not using the word don't and things like that is a bit hard.
If I had an older child with Max, I would encourage them to do their own special thing with them, so maybe at a certain time of the day, they get to have a play and a hold (if they want to) so that way, they aren't going to resent the baby for taking away 'their' time...iykwim.
Can't really say any of this from experience though as I don't have an older child. I'm sure you ladies out there with them are all doing your best though. Kids like to help though so I would encourage that...like 'you go and get a nappy' or squirt the stuff into the bath water....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!
Have a good day everyone

Happy Birthday Kate!
I just got some Baby Einstein DVD's for Tahlia - she is watching Baby Mozart at the moment, and she thinks its hilarious! Does anyone else have these DVD's?
-
Don't log in for a day and a million posts to get through. I'll try to remember what I wanted to say:
Kate - Happy Birthday! Hope you have a good day and little Lachie is nice to his Mum.
Cath - hi stranger. Sorry to hear you haven't been well. Hope you are feeling better. Good to hear that Miss R is doing so well. Look forward to seeing you both in the near future.
Brissy girls - yes, lets set an ongoing date. Agree with the alternating of venue. Perhaps when it is cooler look at a park or something different. If we go for the first Wednesday of the month, our next meet up will be Wednesday 6 Feb.
Kellie - we have the Baby Einstein activity mat. L is lying underneath it at the moment. Will look at getting some of the DVDs as L likes watching the TV and I think if he is he should at least be looking at something better than Oprah!
Becky - you have such clever kids. Pleased to hear that the transition to their new beds went well.
Rolling - L is very close to rolling. As I type he is on his mat rolling onto his side. His arm seems to be getting in the way. L is not too keen on tummy time, but will tolerate it for a minute or so.
Still struggling with the new night time routine. L was awake at 12.45am and again at 3am. Both times I put the dummy in and he went back to sleep. At 3.45am figured that it had been over 6 hours since his last feed so fed him. Up again at 5am and didn't really settle until after 9am. Know I need to persevere with it but it is getting a bit tiring.
So cute, L's mat has a motion activation feature. He just sneezed and it went off!
Enough from me!
-
Kate - Sorry I missed you in my previous post - Happy Birthday!!!
Saffi - You poor thing!! Keep at it! I am sure all your hard work will pay off in the end! We have a fisher price activity mat and Caitlyn sneezing sends that off too! Mind you she doesnt particularly like it anymore so she doesnt play on it. Will re introduce it later I think.
Claire - What sort of signs is Harry showing that indicate a dairy allergy? I am just asking cause the ladies at Caitlyn's daycare are worried about the colour of her poo and I read today that army green poo could be a sign of allergy - the only thing she drinks is formula so I just hope its not an allergy to that. I wasnt particularly worried until they said something to me as she is a healthy happy baby otherwise!
Oh I must get her weighed in the next week or so. Will be curious to see how much she weighs. I really should buy a set of digital scales to see if they help out in that field - MCHN is nearly impossible to get a hold of!!
-
Kim - Chelsea sounds like a normal cheeky one year old to me! They know what "no" means, but try and push the boundaries as far as they can!! "How far will mummy let me go before I get into trouble?" It's harder because like you said, she doesn't understand that she is doing the wrong thing yet.
Kellie - We have a whole heap of Baby Einstein DVDs, Joel used to love them. Kieran isn't very interested in TV yet so I haven't put them on for him. He is happy just to kick around on the floor and bash his toys up! So cute that Tahlia loves them!
Saffi - Hope your new routine starts to work for you guys soon!
-
thanks for all the well wishes ladies,
im not having a great day though:(
-
OK OKl, I spoke too soon! Getting Liam down for his daytime sleep was a NIGHTMARE!!!! I gave up! He kept jumping out, screaming and banging on the door. I sat with him for a while and he fell asleep but as soon as I moved, he howled again!!!!! EEEEEP!! I always knew gwtting him down for his daytime sleep would be harder than nights. At least he is fine with it for nights. Have to work on days (**Wonders what to do???**)
Nic - Yeah I think straight in and out is the way to go. Worked for us at night anyway. I think Liam (2) is probably a bit too young for resentment yet.
Terri - Good luck at the paedeatrician!!! I hope you get your answers!
Claire - Have a great time in the UK!! I hope everything is good with the plane flight!
Kate - Whats up? Why you haveing a bad day???
So how is the first Wednesday of every month for all the Brissy girls??? So, Feb 6 it is??
-
Oh no Kate, what's wrong?
-
Saffi - I actually bought a box set of them on ebay.. there is 22 different DVD's, and they are all for different ages
Kate - hope everything is ok!
Becky - hope you have better luck with Liams day sleeps soon
-
