Kellie - it's always such a long wait to get into these sleep schools. I was very lucky, because i've been a bit mental and had a few isssews since DS was born, I got put on the high priority list which usually means you get in within 2 weeks. Usually they will have cancellations though and you'll probably find you get in sooner. But it sounds like you guys are doing well - why are you going again?
Hey everyone,
Had one of the worst nights ever last night! A combination of two boys, both setting the other off. K got fed at 1:30am, 4am, 6am and 7am due to him not resettling AT ALL. After his 6am feed he wouldn't settle so I put him in bed with me, but then Joel started up his chanting again which set K off so I just got them both up, hence why he was fed again at 7am! I called my mum saying "help!" and she has taken Joel for the day. K doesn't seem to be feeling well, he is screaming when I try to put him to bed (very unusual) and he cries after a feed and if I try to put him on his play mat. It is so exhausting! I am taking him to the GP at 2:30pm to get him looked over. He is pulling his knees up and screaming a lot and he is constantly pooing so I'm guessing his tummy is causing the upset. It took me 40 minutes to get him to sleep just before with lots of screaming, he normally only takes a couple of minutes with no screaming. Hopefully this passes soon!
I'll come back in here later when I feel more human!
Willow - I can only get her to settle either feeding or in my arms, thats why we are going. I think I also need some help in picking up on her tired signs.
Trish - hope Kieran is ok, and your afternoon is better!
what a carp night, trish. sounds awful. i'd be poking my eyes out with sticks by now.
Kellie - Ahhh, that's right, sorry, I'd forgotten. The intial self settling doesn't take long at all for them to learn, DS is brilliant now after only a few weeks. Most of the time now I just wrap him, give him a cuddle, put him down and pop his dummy in and off he goes. It's just the resettling after sleep cycles we are still working on, but doesn't sound like Tahlia has a problem with that if she is sleeping in blocks of 1.5-2hrs. They will really be able to help you with that so that's great.
Trish - you poor thing! That sounds like an awful night. I am sooooo lucky that DD very, very rarely wakes at night. Especially now that she's dropped her day sleep she is in bed at 7pm and we don't hear a peep till 7-8.30am the next morning. I am always worried about L waking her though, so try to settle/feed him as quick as I can! LOL. I hope little K is OK, sounds like he might have an upset tummy?
Viv - geez you have an active little man on your hands there! L is rolling from back to side only (thank god) and we've slowed down the rolling around the cot by putting him under a sheet - we used to just wrap him with no sheet/blanket, but after seeing at sleep school that with a sheet over him he wasn't ending up at the other end or sideways with his legs between the bars :rolleyes: thought I'd give it a go.
We might be off to the GP ourselves, L woke this morning with a gunky eye, hoping it's just sticky eye and not conjunctivitis! I think I'll leave it overnight and if it's no better, we'll take him tomorrow.

I had a shocker of a night. Ethan woke up 7 times. Not sure what is going on he was doing so well.
Since we are all sharing conception stories here is mine. I was seeing the gp because we had been trying a while and nothing happening. She sent me to a fertility specialist because my pro-lacten was high (the hormone that produces milk) but the pregnancy test was negative. He said that he thought I had polycystic ovarian syndrome and gave me medication. A couple of days later he rang me and said "don't take that medication you're pregnant". So it was a nice suprise. I was wondering why I was so tired and moody.
Mo- You confused me a little back there in the last thread.....I bath with Caitlyn - I dont have anything that I bath her in/on. MIght try the small amount of water in the tub tonight and see if she likes it...mind you lately she HATES being on her back when its not bed time.
We had a bit of a yukky night but nothing too bad - sorry Trish. Bit out of routine...when i went to pick her up from daycare they were trying to get her to nap - at 445!!! She is supposed to be awake then. Then I play and talk to her when I get her home, then into the bath, then a feed, then bed!! But nooooooo She got sleepy and so put herself to sleep in the car seat on the way home. Then I thought I would just lay her on the couch when we got home - that normally wakes her up....but nooooooooo slept until time for bath - pushed that off for a bit but she wouldnt go to sleep until after 8 last night! And then she only slept until 1230. Then up at 430 - back to bed with mum and dad. Wasnt too bad a night I guess....sometimes I feel that I am very lucky when it comes to her sleeping.
Has anyone else noticed their (bottle fed) babies not eating/drinking as often. Caitlyn only has maybe 4 bottles a day - most of them are around 200 ml. But I used to be constantly sterilising and washing and etc etc etc. Its good now......can do some dishes instead!!
Anyway - am at work and trying to pass the last half an hour before I go home. I am dying to buy an activity centre for little miss C cause she LOVES standing up and having a sticky beak. But I just looked on a website and its going to cost me $50 in freight to get it out here!!! Am going to look at this junky type store we have locally and see what they have. Oh....and we finally got a bookstore out here!! YAY - NOt that I have that much time to read but the thought is there! Oh and a friend tells me that I can buy pumpkin patch clothes online - and they are having a huge sale at the moment. Have a look - cute little dresses etc for $10!!!! But...maxed out the credit card so I can't buy anything! :(

We went to the doctor who could find nothing wrong (I knew they wouldn't, but wanted to be sure for peace of mind). He was pretty useless though, his first question was "why does he have a bald patch on the back of his head?" Hello!!!? Most babies of this age who sleep on their backs have one!!! Anyway, he lost my faith with that question. And then he had to Google info so I don't think he was the best dr to get today!
I'm still guessing it's his tummy. I made tuna rissoles for the first time last night and they were chock full of onion. I have a feeling the semi-raw onion is what has upset his tum (it used to really upset mine too when my mum b'fed me). I won't be making them with onion again, that's for sure! After I last posted he only slept for 10 minutes then woke up screaming again so I got him to sleep in my arms then lay down on the couch with him and watched last night's episode of Lost that DH taped for me, so it wasn't a complete waste of time lol! He seemed happier after that nap and has currently been asleep for an hour, hooray! It's so nice having a day off from Joel, I love him to bits, but today I really needed to just concentrate on Kieran. Mum is bringing Joel home at dinner time AND she's bringing dinner with her, she rocks!!
Rebecca - It's annoying how a break in routine can throw the night time out! Our day has had no structure today so tonight will be interesting!
alz - Sorry to hear you had a dud night too. I hope tonight is better for us both!
Willow - Joel doesn't normally wake at all o'night, he usually sleeps through me getting up and down to K. I think they were just both out to get me last night! Re: day sleeps, I'm lucky to get 2 hours out of him atm. Usually it's around 1.5 hours if all the planets are aligned. In the morning I usually only get 1 hour out of him, the next two naps are bigger, then another small nap before his last feed/bath.
Viv - I was very tempted to poke my eyes out, believe me. Wow, James is commando crawling already! Look out, once they start moving they never go back!!
Kellie - That's great you got into sleep school. Bummer it's not until March. Whereabouts is it?

Just checking in. Not much happening at the moment. Just the usual.
Trish/Alz - sorry to hear that you all had a bad night. Hopefully you have a chance today to get a nap or 2 in.
Rebecca - I get the pumpkin patch on-line catalogue emailed to me. I love their clothes. L has pretty much grown out of all his PP 0000 jumpsuits now. Probably should go in and buy some things in larger sizes while on sale.
Kellie - carp that you can't get in for another month! Hopefully they will have some cancellations to move you up the list.
Willow - L sleeps between 90 mins to 2 hours at a time during the day.
At my clinic mothers group yesterday some of the bubs were on a mat on the floor. I put L down there and he rolled over onto his tummy in front of everyone. I was so proud. He was perched up on his elbows and was looking around interested in everything. I reckon he's going to be crawling in no time.
Going to get a sleep bag this weekend. Have just put L down for a nap not wrapped or covered and he went to sleep ok.
Feeling sad because I have put away all L's 0000 jumpsuits :( I am giving a friend who is having a boy in April/May all his wondersuits and long sleeved jumpsuits. Some he has only worn once or not at all. Seems a shame to waste them. Not sure if/when #2 will be coming along so someone should use them. My baby is growing up :cry:
trish - onion goes straight through me to james. he's a farty pants and gets low trapped wind. wouldn't be surprised if that's what it was. evil onions. bleh.
Thanks Viv I think you've just confirmed it for me. He has been pulling his knees up and letting out some rippers. Do you find it's just with uncooked onions or with cooked ones too?
Same here Trish. I've noticed it's dropped from 2 hours in the last week or so. I wonder if it's because L feeds 3 hourly during the day and is having more awake time now ie 1.5 hours most of the time rather than 1 hour. So 1.5 hrs awake, 1.5 hours in bed brings it back to feed time?? I have no idea. Pretty sure DD was only doing 1.5 hours by this stage. Will discuss it with the chick at Tresillian next week but have a feeling she'll tell me he should be in bed for no less than 2 hours. She's a bit of a sleep nazi this one, other nurses I've seen/spoken too have been much more flexible with routines, sleep times etc. At the end of the day, I guess we just do what works for us. Are you still doing much resettling? We are *sigh*:

Stay away from the onions!! LOL. Pity it takes an episode like this to teach us what not to eat! I did it with cabbage once with DD and my best friend learnt to avoid chocolate with her girls!
Saffi - another clever boy rolling already! I know what you mean about packing up their clothes. DD is 3 and I still get upset! Especially now that it's unlikely we'll ever have another girl so no one to pass them down to. My best friend has twin girls who are 9 months so might give some stuff to her when she comes over in May.
Rebecca - thanks for the tip re PP on line. Will check it out, not that I need clothes for him! We have HEAPS and he hardly wears any of them, mostly nappies and singlets but I guess the weather is cooling now.
Well I'm off. Trying to limit my time on BB to when the kids are asleep/at preschool, spending too much time on here lately. L about to wake up and DD on her way home with DH so better get off now. Hope everyone has a good night (me included!!)

anyone with a bub thats not rolling dont feel left out, thismorning i had to roll Tyron back onto his back because he would roll, spew, face plant, scream. roll, spew, face plant, scream..... talk about repition lol! In the end i moved him into his rocker
willow- it is very easy to spend too much time on here isnt it.... ive been spending a bit less time in the last few weeks purely cause ive had to prioritise other things first but if i could i'd prob sit on here all day!
meeting my gf's at the shops 9.30am tomorrow to do shoe shopping for bridesmaids shoes. only sill thing is we dont even have our dresses yet so cant really know what will suit and height etc... but our dresses are going to be altered when they come in anyway (better be cause Bride & brides mum made me buy a size 14 because thats what i was when we tried them on which was 3weeks after Tyron was born......)
anyway ive not long taken 2 night time cold & flu tablets so sure to knock me out in a few mins, good night all

Maddi has 4 bottles a day, 210mls morning & night, 180mls during the day.
Sometimes she'll only drink 150mls but that's rare.
Trish sorry you had such a bad night, hope tonight is better.

Hope all is well, had a quick skim and apart from some nappy woes and a few snuffles all seem ok keep it up!
Work has been stupidly busy I could whinge for ages but I won't just the newbies making my work a lot harder grr.
Good news is DP has only been at his new job since start of Jan and got a promotion and a payrise and is being trained to pretty much take over the guy loves him so much and thinks hes such a brilliant worker so more pennies in the pocket.
Also put in an application at medicare as DP is a kiwi he has no cover and works around heavy machines etc all day and the idiots at the local office didnt know bleep I quoted them their policies and requirements lists from off the internet and they said I'd been told wrong and they couldnt approve it! So I asked it be sent for someone else to look at it they sent it to Sydney on Friday and monday we got approved with new numbers! IDIOTS!
I got a u/s and blood tests and nothing left and alls back to normal and no infection from my hosp visit. My gallstones jammed itself in the neck of the gallbladder so I have an appointment in march with a surgeon and getting it out in april or may. Only thing left after that is my wisdom teeth yay.
Hope all is well, Ryan is a good monkey as always his eye is still crusty in the mornings but its not red and seems to go away by the arvo so seeing if his body fights it off himself, vaccinations soon poor boy!
james is a champ - slept 10 hours straight (finally) 6.45pm to 4.45am this morning.
i had balloon boobs! gah. very happy with his performance though.
has anyone else noticed 'poo day'? james saves for one day then poos for one day... big time. hilarious. i swear he just dropped three massive carps one after the other on the change table.

Trish I have the same problem with onions...and Leek is even worse! It sux not being able to eat all the things I want when I want...hence me weening Max off the boob when I'm putting him on solids....anyone else doing that? What a dud that doctor was too...so offputting seeing a doctor that knows less than a readers digest medical book!!

Max was really good again yesterday, but is still feeding during the night....what is with that! After so long of not doing it....hmmmm....Oh well these things are sent to try us!!!

We had a better night last night. E only woke up twice. He is always better on the weekend because Daddy gets up to him.
I think Ethan is ready to stop being wrapped as he is moving around a lot at night. I think that is why he doesn't sleep as well. He gets himself out of the wrap and then can't go back to sleep. We are going away for a wedding next weekend so we might wait until after that to try him without it. What do you all do with your bubs? Do you use sleeping bags or just sheets? I think sleeping bags are expensive so not sure what to do. Money is getting a bit tight now that I have run out of maternity leave and am not going back to work until term 3.
Wish us luck. We are going out to a function tonight. Not sure how Ethan will go sleeping in the pram til late. He usually fusses and then wont sleep at all.
