nickers - how gorgeous - smarty pants, nixon.
trish - when the chn lay him down to measure him she took his hands and pulled them until his body came off the table then pulled his arms above his head. i asked her if this caused bowed legs but she said no (that fat disposable nappies do that - not sure how true that is). anyhow, we held him up like that by his hands a lot when he was around that age. now we hold his arms more out to the side.
he loved to bounce, and i'd just let him take as much weight as he wanted to.
today he has been doing the 'pull up' onto stuff all morning. no wonder he's not sleeping so well, he's cooking up these milestones in his sleep. i don't sleep when i'm cooking things in my brain either. yesterday, after i typed about his pull up, he did it again but slid off the table with slippery magazines and konked his head on the tiles (just missed his soft mat). oh man, mother guilt... wah wah waaaaaaaah....
now i sit behind him whenever he does it because he's a tad wobbly.
-
Viv- Wow! James will be off in no time!
Amber - What I should have said is Myles is fine! He is perfectly proportioned!
Nic - I'd love to see Nixon do that dance! Bet he looks very cute! Didn't get that morning free unfortunately, but we are planning a child-free Friday night very soon! See you tonight at the meeting.
Hmm quite a fan of exclamation marks aren't I?
Trish - what was the centre like? What does it do?
Harry seems to have slowed down with regards to putting weight on too - looks like 100g in the past month but I did weigh him on different scales, so can't be completly sure. Found him rocking on his knees and hands yesterday so I'm hoping crawling isn't too far off for this young man - he's desperate to get moving and if left in a room alone, wails the place down! loves walking though and at times I can just hold one of his hands and he balances, he's started walking towards a piece of furniture too! Clever little dude!
Last night was awful again - I end up taking him in bed with me and he wants to stay attached so every time he falls asleep and pops of, he wakes up and roots around which wakes me up!
-
Trish we left around 2pmish, we waiting to see if you would turn up but M was getting cranky.
Guess we'll have to have a meet-up soon :)
-
Mo- how could madi resist pulling the reverse mullet??? Usually it's the guni poking eyes and biting toes, good for her to get a dose of her own medicine!
So Lu is sleeping 12 hours, is EC trained, says the Dad, Dog, Cat, the alphabet and wake up you're dreaming mum! Ha i wish. Sleepless nights have not been for nothing though, we have a top tooth and another on the way.
Got the pull up going on here too. Look out girls Big J is catching up! Crawling and pulling up in one week Viv? advanced for sure! ;) I think that weight bearing, bow leg thing is another ye ol' wives tale.
Claire- we have had shocking nights here too. Been feeling like a walking zombie! i sympathise.
-
Sorry Mo! I turned up at about 3-ish. I couldn't go in the morning because I was dealing with a sick Joel and a lack of sleep. After my nanna-nap I felt much more human!
Bummer I didn't get to meet you IRL Ange! I would have loved to have met the infamous Falguni. Hopefully we'll meet one of these days! Yay for Lu popping another tooth! I hope her nights settle down for you soon.
Claire - The BB centre looked really nice. Not very pram friendly though! It was created as a supportive place for pg women and mums. It will have resources to educate and also has natural therapists available. You can read more about it here: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ouncement.html. Wow at Harry kinda-walking! He is so clever! I hope you get a better night tonight.
Viv - Thanks for the pull-up description. Doesn't work on K! He just doesn't seem keen to do anything apart from roll to his side or from his tummy to his back. Such a lazy man! He much prefers to be carted around. Don't feel too bad about James bumping his head, it will happen heaps more yet! Joel used to permanently go around with bruises on his forehead. I have so many photos of him with a purple mark on his head!
Nic - Nixon sounds so cute! It's such a fun age. I hope your tradies get everything done in time for you!
Willow - Sorry you guys are all sick, it's that time of year sadly. I hope you all feel better soon.
Joel's much better today. Still not eating much, DH tried to get him to have some more dinner and he ended up throwing it up. I think his tummy is still settling. I think I got a mild dose of whatever Joel had because my tummy has felt odd all day and I don't have much of an appetite. Still tired from the other night too so think I will go to bed early tonight :asleep:.
-
Geezaloo, just took me 45 mins to get the little man to sleep! His cold has hit him harder today, lucky I still love him to bits, even with bright green snot dripping out of his nose!! LOL.
I'm better now, DD is a lot better today so hopefully he'll be better too in the next day or so (he was the last to cop it).
Question for the big boys (James, Tyron, Max - think that's all the heavy weights?) what size clothes are they in now? Don't know whether i should bother buying him 00s or just skip straight to 0s. He needs some more bonds suits for pjs n stuff...
-
Willow Max is in 0 bonds but can fit 00 in some other clothes. He isn't long but chunky!
We have had a good day today, apart from someone deciding to have their tree's lopped at Max's nap time! Good thing he'd been down 2 hours already.
He's back to whinging though...not cool. Also, hates other kids squeeling...he cries like a girl! Such a Mummy's boy... Trish I bet he could rival K on the Velcro effect!
Goodnight all
-
Julia .... Awwww look at your ticker pic! Sooooo cute!
Willow - Chels has only JUST hit the 8kg, but Im starting to buy her 0 stuff now too. She still fits 00 but I cant imagine it is going to be for too much longer - she is long too. May as well put her in 0 and its a little big but saves wasting too much money on clothes she'll only wear for a few weeks.
Hmmmm.... not a lot to report here. Chels is joining the pig clan! She eats so much lately. Luckily, she is not really fussy and will eat anything I give her! Starting her on chicken tomorrow too! Yay for her!
Nighty night all.
-
Willow - Definitely buy size 0 at least in Bonds, they are always a size too small. K isn't as heavy as some of the others, but he hovers from a 00 - 0 depending on the brand. I don't buy 00's any more because I reckon he won't fit in them for much longer. He wore a 0 top the other day that Joel wore on his first birthday!
Julia - It's frustrating when they whinge all the time isn't it? K had a terrible clingy day yesterday, I could hardly get anything done. I'm pretty sure he is teething though so hopefully that's all it is.
Becky - That's great the Chelsea is a good eater, it makes life so much easier! I haven't thought about trying K on meat yet, I suppose I should soon. Let us know how Chelsea goes with chicken!
K is really rashy atm, I noticed during his bath last night that he has red dots all over his torso and behind his knees and under his chin. His cheeks have spots too. I'm not sure if this is a reaction to something he's eaten. The only different food he's tried lately is carrot, I have no idea if it could cause a reaction like that though. Not sure what to do with him, I hate wasting my time with GPs that have no idea!
-
Trish That exact same rash came up on a friends baby. She took him to the doc and they said it was the end of a virus....could be the same? Maybe that is why he's sticking to you like glue!
Becky THANKS! Lucky he is cute I tell ya!
Excited...got mothers group today then off out with another friend. DH gets back home tonight after more than a week by myself! YAY!
BBL
-
Funny you should say that Julia! He has been unwell with chucking and a snuffly nose for a couple of weeks. I only saw the rash yesterday and today he is a new baby! He has been happy and I didn't have to lug him around once while he was awake this morning! I really really hope he stays this way :crossfingers:.
-
Trish no need to be sorry, glad Joel is feeling better :)
Ange i think M was jealous of Lu's reverse mullet, that's why she grabbed it every chance!
Still feel bad for poor Lu, My daughter is a big bully lol
-
Stop feeling bad..........NOW! ;) Seriously, it is usually the other way around Mo! Reverse mullet is pretty cool, ya can hardly blame her! :p
Trish, i heard somewhere that babies can be allergic to something in carrots...... but can't remember specifics, sorry! hope it's just end of virus.
-
Ok Ok i'll stop feeling bad, but when we meet-up again M is wearing mittens :p
-
trish - it could be carrot. jj had an under-chin rash the day before yesterday (after two days of carrot). i skipped a day and tried him again today. i'll watch for more rash. the only thing that makes me think it's not carrot is that under chin and behind knees are heat areas... so maybe with being sick there's been fever and sweating?
what about laundry powders and bath stuff? any change?
-
Hmm...maybe it could be the carrots? I haven't changed our laundry powder and I only bathe him with water and a wash cloth (except his hair which I wash every couple of days with Gaia shampoo, but I have been using that forever too). I hope it's just the tail end of a virus, but I'll stop giving him carrots and reintroduce them later and see what happens.
I gave him Rafferty's organic porridge this morning and after his nap he kept chucking up, heaps. I wonder if his body didn't like that either? :dunno:
-
i'll be honest, he did get a bit more chucky after carrot, after pretty much stopping the chuck thing altogether.... hmmm... :detective:
-
Good afternoon everyone!!
Its been ages since I have had a chance to check in and say hi!! I have returned to almost full time work now (34 a week) and its hectic at work and at home!
Anyway - to all the milestones and anniversaries and all the other fun stuff that I have missed - CONGRATS TO MUMS AND BUBS!! :cheer:
It has pretty much been easy going here. Caitlyn is sitting up all by herself and only falling backwards when we walk past her into another room and she tries to follow us.
Solids all the way - down to 3 - 4 bottles a day and only one wake up at night and most times she doesnt even want a bottle then - just a hello call I think. Is loving all that we can get into her mouth. Potato, pumpkin, squash, zucchini, carrot, sweet potato, apples, pear, watermelon, rockmelon, honeydew melon. The list goes on. We were eating weetbix for breakfast but have now changed that to the Rafferty's organic porridge and we add a litle apple for taste.
Still no go on the water. She loves her cup though. We took the one way valve out of it cause she had to suck so hard to get anything out and was getting so frustrated because the teat thing was shaped differently. So now she tips it up, stuff comes out, she spits it back out. Although I must admit that some does get down!
Daycare is going great - but I think she is starting to realise that I am leaving and she has a hissy fit! But as soon as I shut the door - she stops and is all giggly.
She is sooooo very talkative! Chats to herself in the cot all night I reckon.
I can't belive that I have missed so much - I have been really slack on checking things!
Anyway - had best get back to work - I am sorry this is such a me/us post - will try and do some catch up reading shortly!!
MWAH
Wow - I need to update my ticker!!!
-
Hey all.
Trish - I'll let ya know. Gona try it tonight! YAY.
Rebecca - Welcome back. How is your boss coping? Are they getting there now?
Its our 4 year anniversary tomorrow. Mum and Dad have offered to have both kids for a night on the weekend so we can do something but.... I dont know..... I havent been away from Chels for a night yet and I think we'll miss them too much. Must admit though, would be nice for a sleep in. Hmmmmm.....
-
Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing well and are getting lots of sleep.
I have another question for you. Regarding solids. We really want to get Ethan to eat home cooked food as it is better for him and cheaper. Have tried potato, pumpkin, sweet potato and carrot but he doesn't want any of them. He will eat these in jars. What do I do? Do I just give him the jars and have a happy baby or do I keep going?
E had some toast this morning. I gave him the crust cut up into finger. He loved it. He ripped off pieces with his gums and then sucked and munched until it disintegrated. He started to choke on a bit but I was there to help so no worries.
Hope you all have a great night.
-
Alz - Have you experimented with the consistency of your homemade food? Do you think Ethan would be more likely to eat it if it is the same consistency as the jarred stuff? I add some cool boiled water to my mashed or pureed vegies to make it into a smooth paste. If you are happy to keep giving him jarred food though then keep at it. Babies change what they like all the time, so he might start to like your homemade food a bit later.
Becky - How'd the chicken go? I'm scared to try meat!
Rebecca - Great to hear from you! I've been wondering how you've been.
Viv - Hmmm...indeed. I will give it a few more days for the carrot to get out of K's system and see if he is any better. He has been chucking heaps today, but I really think it was that porridge... That's great James has stopped chucking so much.
-
Alz- have you tried apple or pear? Maybe a sweet fruit will appeal. if he liked the finger food why not try some well cooked sticks of pumpkin, zucchini, carrot etc. He might like it better if he gets to do it himself.
L is funny, sometimes she will only have finger food, sometimes she wants me to feed her.
Otherwise, as Trish says they change their minds as often as i change my undies, weekly, so things might be different next week!
-
Hi all
Big day today. L had his first day at daycare. He didn't sleep much but seems to be okay. When DH arrived to pick him up L was crying and no staff were attending too him. Just hope that is a one off! I rang during the day to check up and the Director asked how I was doing. How sweet. Next day is Friday.
L is 7 months today.
Rebecca - hi :hello: I was wondering how you were getting on. Re the sippy cup, we got a Nuby cup from Target. They are antispill as well but are also valveless. L seems to really like drinking from it.
Alz - Maybe there is something in the texture of the homemade food that is different?? We introduced L to canned pears first and when he liked it I then made it from fresh fruit. Technically the cans are made from the same stuff as you would do at home. So maybe you can mix the canned stuff with the homemade and then reduce the amount of canned and increase the fresh until he's eating all homemade.
Strange that the BB Centre is not pram friendly. I thought that would be high on the priority list :dunno:
L is going ahead in leaps, literally. He is trying so hard to crawl, but he ends up doing a sort of hop like a rabbit. So cute. Tonight he ate a serve of pumpkin and then a serve of pears. DH says he gobbled down the pumpkin. So far he eats pear, pumpkin and sweet potato. Might look at apple or maybe carrott next.
Work going well. Was in a day long course on stats. Found it hard to focus on it after a night of interupted sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will be quieter.
Hope Mums and Bubs are all healthy and happy.
-
Hello ladies!
Saffi Happy 7 months Lachlan!!!!!!:hooray: Shame about the crying at daycare hope they fix that asap!
Becky happy anniversary! Hope you have a great day! :inlove:
Rebbecca So glad everything is going so well!
Alz Myles was very fussy to start with but know he loves it so just take it slow and try not to worry!
Trish hope K gets better poor bubba has had a rough time lately!
Claire thanks i know he is ok but there are so many babies that are so much bigger than him but i think most are FF so maybe thats why hey?
willow that would have freaked me out all that blood in the cot so glad it was just teeth!
Today is my mums birthday so will hopefully get to spend some time with her! And tomorrow i will be 26 omg getting old hahha! I am off to lunch with a girlfriend and maybe a sleep in well thats my birthday wish anyway! Myles is chatting so much now and cruising the furniture! So he is keeping me on my toes!
Anyway have to go hang out the nappies bbl xoxoxo
-
Amber happy birthday to your Mum.
Happy 8 months to the Guni.
Q1. For the Mums of the Bubs with teeth are you brushing them everyday?
I'm always forgetting to buy M her tooth brush, seems weird that i have to buy my little girl a tooth brush.
Q2. What's your bubs favorite thing to do?
M loves bath time she likes to spend a good half hour in there, if you pull her out to early she'll just scream to she goes back in.
-
Morning!
A little woohoo from me...K is finally trying to move :cheer:!!! I put him on his tummy and instead of pushing himself up with his arms, he kept his head on the floor and pulled his knees and bum up and tried to push himself forward! He ended up moving 180 degrees, he didn't actually go forward, but it is a step in the right direction! I sat with him and cheered him on and he thought it was great fun, so cute!! I really hope he keeps it up, I'm sure once he can get where he wants he will be much happier.
Mo - A belated happy 8 months to Maddi, sorry I missed it! I used to use a wet wash cloth over my finger to wipe Joel's teeth. I didn't use a toothbrush until a bit later, is that naughty of me?! K definitely loves bathtime the most too. He always tries for a bath bomb while he's there, doesn't always work, but he gives it a good go LOL!
Amber - Happy birthday to your mum! Wow, your birthdays are only a day apart, same as Joel and Kieran! I still don't know how we will celebrate K's first birthday yet because Joel will need to be included too. Myles is so clever cruising around! Hope you have a nice time with your mum today.
Saffi - Happy 7 months to Lachlan for yesterday! I typed that out last night, but then the site fell down so it didn't post. I hope L goes well in CC. Such a clever boy trying to crawl :)
Ange - You always crack me up :D. Happy 8 months to Lu!!!
Have a great day everyone!
-
OMG, I swear I've had two heart attacks this morning. DS is sooo blocked up with mucus that he's choking on it :(
I had him sitting on the floor next to me and he started choking, went freakishly quiet and then vomited everywhere - needless to say I panicked big time, but I picked him up, turned him over and firmly patted his back and he was OK then. On closer inspection he had one of his sisters stickers in his mouth!! It must have been on the floor and he picked it up. It was only a small one, but I think this and the fact he can't breath through his nose made his gag reflex kick in.
Then, I was opening a package (Trish- my ergo arrived today! Thank you. Going to the park later just so I can try it!) and before I knew it, he had paper in his mouth and was gagging again!!
I put him down for a nap at 9.30 but I'm so paranoid that I'm sitting here so I can hear him (yes, the monitor is on ).
I don't really know there's anything I can do for him. I might try some fess when he wakes up...
He's in there now coughing and spluttering...I'm so tempted to go and get him up just so I can keep an eye on him but the poor little fella's not well and needs his sleep. I might take him to the GP this afternoon, even though I know it's just a cold and there's nothing they can do.
I'm going to go check on him...again...
-
How scary Willow! I'm glad the Ergo arrived safely, sorry L choked on the paper!! I used Drixine (or something like that, can't remember the exact name) in K's nose which kind of helped.
-
How scary Willow, I used fess when M had her horrible cold didn't help her much.
Ended up putting baby balsam & using the vaporizer with Vick's just so she could breathe.
Enjoy you Ergo Willow.
Thanks Trish :)
WTG on K moving. that's a great start :)
We need to baby proof our house, M likes crawling in the dining area & pulling herself up on the chairs, then she'll crawl into the bathroom & try pull herself up on the bath(I think that's a bath time hint), I'm thinking those baby gates are the way to go, anyone have any recommendations?
-
Hi everyone
Just checking in to say hi, there is so much to catch up on in here!
Not much new with us, Tahlia is still having 2 meals a day, not sure when to introduce the 3rd one, and she absolutely loves watermelon. So much so that when I take it off her when she gets to the skin she cries! So cute
Hope all the sick bubbas are better soon
-
:cheer:Happy 8 months Guni!!!!:cheer:
Mo I brush Myles teeth when im doing mine or just let him chew on the brush so he gets used to it! We dont use toothpaste though! His fav thing is bath too and of course crawling!!!!
Question...i want to give myles yogurt! I looked at the babies first by vaalia and its packed with all this extra stuff iykwim can i just give him natural yogurt?
-
I know Ange gives Lu yogurt, So I'm sure she'll pop in and let you know.
I swear all baby stuff is full of extra sugar etc.. Brought M some fruit gel to eat while out because i forgot to pack food. It was so sweet even tasted sweeter than adult jelly, no-way was i gonna give her that.
-
Hey all.
Just got home, we went out ot lunch for our anniversary and are considering going out for dinner too. Both babies are asleep now so we are just realxing!
Trish - Chelsea LOVED the chicken!! She is really good with just mashed foods now, but the chicken I still pureed. I mixed it with pumpkin and she scoffed it! YAY! Will try it for a few more days then might try mince or some other meat. God my girl loves her food.
Willow - Awwww how scary! I hope L gets better soon. Apparantly there is a medicine you can give babies under 2 called Paedamin. It clears up the nose I think. Worth enquiring about.
Saff - Good luck with L at Child care. Geez, I wouldnt have been to happy if Id walked in with him crying. Like you said though, hopefuly it is a 1 off.
Amber - Happy Bday for tomorrow. I give Chels the VAalia stuff and she LOVES it. I give her a tub once a day and she has had no reaction or anything to it. They are only pretty small tubs. I think you can give him normal yoghurt though if you prefer, as long as it is full fat! Not the reduced fat or lite type.
Ok, may pop back later. Have a good day!
-
Happy anniversary becky. No baby making now! ;) Anniversarys are notorious for that!
Happy birthday for tomorrow Amber- :excited: Hope you get spoilt rotten! Yeah most of that baby food is packed full of carp. wrong isn't it?! I give Lu the full fat plain Jalna in the red tub, or an organic gipsland one we have down here, but not sure if you would have it up there.
8 months, holy cow.
MCHN told me i should be wiping or brushing the guni's teeth, but i dont. I do give her the toothbrush to chew on like Boomba does. I give it to her in the bath.
Willow we have snot central here too. Man i hate it. The poor little things. She can't BF properly b/c she can't breathe through her nose. This is the 3rd cold in 4 weeks. i though BF bubs were supposed to have good immunity!! I guess licking the floor everywhere we go doesn't help.
What do you suppose this icon is for........ :wiggle: :wiggle: :wiggle: ? wiggle on.
-
Thanks Ange! I cannot believe the stuff that's in the baby foods... no wonder we have a nation of obese people! Will go to my organic shop and get some thanks! By the way i believe this :wiggle: is a description of my heffer self at the moment hahaha!
Becky so glad you had a nice day!
Willow & Ange i have a snot box too at the moment! the worse part is he rubs his nose and eyes and in the morning is covered in hard boogers eewwww!
Well had an alright day! Spent some lovely time with mum which was great! But went shopping to find some clothes for my fatty fat fat body and got so depressed i actually cried! So this got me thinking maybe AF is on its way cause i dont usually get upset, but then again i can usually find something nice! The part is its so hard finding clothes that are easy to BF in:(! Argh vent over!
Looking forward to tomorrow and having lunch with my GF! thanks for all the bday wishes if i dont get on tomorrow xo
-
Ange maybe it's shake that booty lol
I got my act together & got M a toothbrush, she's in the bath now chewing on it, every time you pick it up she opens her mouth so you can brush them so cute!
Since you may not be on tomorrow :happybirthday: for tomorrow Amber :D
Mine's in a few weeks :)
-
 ! Boomba i just noticed your thingi under your name. i sing that ants song, but i can't help myself. When the ants go marching on by one the little one stops to scratch his bum. 2 by 2 he stops to do a poo....... you get the idea! childish i know!
Meh, i'm over the body thing, i got all excited that i was back to pre-preg weight, then discovered the scales were wrong!!! By about 8 kg's! Sill have 6 to go, but not worrying too much until i have finished BF'ing. Takes a bit of getting used to a jelly belly though. i hear your pain. Think we need to watch how to look good naked! ;)
ETA- Is maddi bathing herself mo? ;)
-
No way i'd go back in and there would be water every where, she can't be trusted :P
-
:cryinglaugh::cryinglaugh:Ange you crack me up! I have been trying to work out what to actually sing to myles thats not too rude but it just comes out hahaha! Yeah i am trying not to get too hungup on my body it just sucks when everything is made for teeny tiny girls
x
-
i think i need some sleep.
