Lesson for the day - if your bub has a pooey nappy don't wait to change it.

L woke up from his morning nap, so I get him up, change his nappy, dress him for the day, and take him into the kitchen to give him some food. As I was lifting him into the high chair I smelled something, but thought he can wait. He was really grumpy as I tried to give him some food, so got his bottle ready, took him into the loungeroom and gave it to him. After a while I felt something wet on his back. Only then did I realise the poop had gone all the way up his back. Eeww...... Poor bub. Had to give him a bath and a of course a complete change of clothes. Bad, bad mummy!

Kellie - WTG Tahlia! I thought life wouldn't be the same when L started to crawl too, then he learnt to stand! I made some homemade rusks the other day. L loves them. Just slow bake the crusts of a wholemeal loaf in the oven for an hour or so. Also give L some rice cakes and sometimes a vitaweet.
Willow - :hug: This baby stuff's hard work, hey.

Hope all's well!

Had some issues recently. Bit of a tiff with DH on the MIL....he wondered why I never wanted her to mind Maxxy and I finally got off my chest that it's because I don't really trust her! She has said things to Max (and I know this will sound strange!) like 'we don't like charlie' (my precious pooch). She has called Max a 'little d!khead'...has basically bagged anyone with a public school education (that is me)...and the list goes on. I know they sound little and petty, but I find them to be negative and judgemental and I don't want Max to be around that sort of thing....especially when it is things that mean something to me. I told him that I didn't feel like she respected me and the way I parent Max. SIGH...it was so horrible! It's not that I don't like her or anything either, and I certainly don't want Max to not have her in his life. Another thing, she doesn't want to be called Nanny, or Grandma, or anything of the like....she wants Max to call her by her nickname. I told her that I don't think it's right, and I find it disrespectful for a kid to call their grandmother their nickname, but she just keeps pushing it. In the end I just don't call her anything infront of him, and just keep telling her to make up a name he can use....she hasn't yet...so I call her Nanny No-name! Geez...I'm a whinger...sorry for long and boring!

Max and sleep....the kid, kind of like JJ takes a few mins on the rocking chair and then he's down. The nights are also a mixed bag of whether he will wake or not. I just roll with it.

Haha Rebecca Max does that screwed up nose and funny sound thing too! It's so hilarious!

Yay to all the kids moving.....Max is moving more, just on the spot! I'm sure he'll get up when I least expect it! Hopefully not before we go to the UK....he will be 1 by then so I'm not counting on it....a lot can happen in 3 months can't it. I am more amazed by Max as the days go on!

I am wondering whether M's top teeth are coming down....i can see their outline on the gum and he's started sucking his lip up the top (he did the same when the bottom ones were bugging him). It's funny when he does it, he kind of clicks his tongue too....then when I do it back to him, he does it again...and then the games begin! GOD I love him!

Anyhoo...i'm going to go tidy up...got mothers group here tomorrow so need to baby proof my house!

nanny no-name sounds like a bit of drag... so hard with boys and their mothers... on both counts, you and max, dh and nanny NN...

i thought that i'd have to tread carefully with my own MIL, until DH had a mass falling out with her about her lack of interest in the wee one. can't win.

as my mother says, 'it's just something we all have to deal with' (MILs, that is)

you're the boss of max in the meantime. you can choose who gets contact. lie through your teeth if you have to -- not that i condone lying, but sometimes people are more trouble than they're worth if you tell them the truth (because THEY can't deal with it).

Julia - I can't believe Max's own grandmother called him a d'head! WTF??? I reckon Max is warming up his engines and he'll be off and racing in no time.

My mum is a nanny no name too (love it Viv!). Actually we call her GDW (short for Grandad's wife). For Mother's Day we bought her a card that had a revolving window with the names of grandmother in different languages and asked her to see if there were any she liked LOL. I figure that when L is old enough he will choose a name for her, so I'm going to leave it up to them to sort out between themselves.

Bad day with L. After his afternoon nap he vomitted all over himself and the rug on his floor. So another change of clothes. Think he's a bit off colour. All he wants to do is sleep and cuddle up to me. Hopefully he will get better overnight or I might have to take tomorrow off work to care for him (that would be so sad - not).

Yeah Julia- MIL's suck. It is such a shame husbands come with them. :P I think follow your gut, you are doing the right thing. Like Viv says, you are his boss, his protector. I don't leave Lu with anyone that i am not 100% comfortable with. That includes my MIL, fortunately she lives a plane flight away. But last time she visited we had a wedding and she said "oh you can just leave her here" There was no chance in hell. Fortunately i have the excuse of BF'ing, and i am not a very good at expressing.

Saffi- I hate spew, hope the little man is ok. I think you'd be about due for a sick day!

Viv- i meant to say yesterday, i would definately try the panadol. Particularly if he is obviosly waking from the pain. When we had the front teeth coming through, i used a bit of panadol, but i kept wondering if i should or not. Looking back i can see that she was in pain and it was warranted.

Yeah Ange, was thinking about you yesterday, must be wanting to get some good sleep before you hear the bells for round 2...not to mention the preggo tiredness. Hope they all 'get it' soon.

Good night last night, only woke once, tried to resettle but he woke again a few minutes later so i just fed him. Still, one wake up is a great night here.

Going for coffee with some of my BB PAML buddies today, looking forward to getting out of the house!

Morning everyone!

Joel went to kinder happily today, hooray! They are having a puppet show today so that seemed to excite him enough to want to go LOL. He had a ball last Friday, he settled as soon as I left and the teacher & assistant said he was happy & chatty the whole time. I'm hoping after today he won't cry any more about going :crossfingers:.

K still isn't doing much other than rolling. He seems to think if he kicks his legs hard enough he will propel forward! He lifts his bum in the air and keeps his legs straight, but can't seem to hold his torso up. The chiro showed me a better way to get him on his knees after I showed him how stiff K is. I've been doing the new method every day with him and yesterday he leaned forward when sitting and ended up on his hands and knees for a few seconds. So hopefully that means we are getting somewhere!

Willow - :hug: You poor thing, I really hope you get some more sleep soon. Hooray for L only waking once last night! Are you sure it's worth weaning him from the wrap atm? Is it a big problem if your MIL has to wrap him for his naps? I just worry for you because you sound so tired and I know you are starting work soon. Do you think L will cope with all the changes (i.e you going away to work and learning to sleep unwrapped)? If you are worried I really don't think you need to push the wrap weaning, it certainly isn't hurting him and you can always cross that bridge a bit later. Sometimes they just wean themselves off it, Joel did eventually, I just kind of knew when the time was right. Hope you have a nice time out this morning!

Saffi - I hope L's feeling better today the poor little man.

Julia - I'm another one for not letting MIL babysit. She has never babysat Joel or Kieran. I personally couldn't trust her, I know she wouldn't follow my instructions or wishes. She has done things in the past that have shattered my trust in her. Like others have said, it is your job to protect Max, don't feel guilty about it!

Becky - Great to hear from you! Sounds like Chelsea is still a little angel :).

Viv - It's true that at this age babies sleep is pretty bad. James sounds like such a little go-getter, no wonder his sleep isn't brilliant! It does all calm down eventually, but I can't tell you when LOL.

Ange - I hope Lu starts sleeping well again for you. Have you had any m/s or preggie tiredness yet? Have you told your families the big news?

Rebecca - I reckon if I took a sicky to clean the house I'd end up lazing around eating Tim Tams too LOL! That sounds like a much better idea ;)

Kellie - WTG Tahlia for crawling! What a clever little girl :).

Amber - I hope those top teeth pop through soon, they seem to be nasty ones don't they?!

OH good, Im glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I thought I was being a nasty b!ch....She is looking after him tomorrow afternoon as I have an appt to go to with DH (Yes, he is in counselling...must have been the way he was parented!) and she wants me to go with him. It's only for 1 hour. I might not say anything to her about it, because if I do, I think she will do all the things I DON"T want her to on purpose. I hope the SIL has a baby soon....then MIL can get her fix! I might just say something to her when other people are around, rather than just her and I. I just want her to realise that this ISN"T a chance for her to be a mother again. Stay in your box lady!

Trish Max does the same as Keiran. Sits on his butt and twists so far to lean for things that he ends up on hands and 1 knee! He hasn't yet mastered getting the other chubby thigh out of the way. He also does lots of leg thrashing....but it gets him nowhere and then he ends up PO'd They will get there!

What a hectic one it has been. Seems like everyday getting the kids ready for school is a struggle. DS won't get out of bed, too cold, DD tried to say she was sick but was well enough to be fighting with her brother :wall:. Thank goodness DH is home today, Bella slept till 9.30 this morning from 10.00 last night :D.

Saffi - I hear you on the dirty nappies Bella had a bit of an explosion yesterday, all the way up her top. Bit of diahrea this morning too, maybe those top teeth will come through soon.

MiniMax - Really sad about your MIL would be great if everyone could just get along especially for the sake of the kids. Don't have MIL issues, DH's parents live overseas, never seen their grandchildren :(.

Trish - Bella sits up too but keeps flinging herself backwards so need to keep my hand behind her back so she doesn't hurt herself. She can roll from her tummy to her back but not back to tummy. She hates being on her tummy, stays for a few min's then just puts her face to the floor and grizzles. She'll get there.

To all of you having sleep problems hope your babes will start sleeping longer soon.

saffi - it was julia that came up with nanny no-name... i just loved it too! hehe..

we saw the mean nurse today. she's so fricken old school. james cried when she poked around in his mouth and weighed/measured etc. then she said, "i don't know why you're.... [insert late night breastfeed here] he's a strapping 9 month old".... well of course he is, coz momma gives him TITTIE!! duh.

he weighs around 11.10kg and is about 76cm. i personally think her measuring is dodgy but it sounds close enough. he's 95th for all his measurements so at least i'm happy i don't have a disproportionate lumpy-doo on my hands.

anyway, she says i have to cut him off all night feeds because he's evidently, 'getting half his calories' at night. she says i need to just deal with the hourly waking because 'he'll forget about boob' after three nights.

HA. have you met my kid??

so anyway, she says i should be giving water, panadol and gel at those wakes, if i feel he 'needs' something.

james looked like he'd been stabbed. he doesn't like the nurse at all.

she says the top ones have a lot more swelling to go before they pop. she says they are big... woo hoo... fun for poor james.

ange - i think you're right about panadol. he slept from 6.30 to 10.30 without incident, then woke at 11.30 (when i'm guessing the panadol wore off).

hmm...

MIL’s – Don’t even get me started!!! I am still trying to get over the fact that she bathed my baby (my less than a week old baby) after consuming 3 bottles of wine!! Or the fact that we went out for 15 mins and left C with her and she gave her a dummy – that I had loudly and repeatedly said I didn’t want! Anyway – she is now in Darwin – far far away. Goes to her other g/daughters 3rd birthday after only 1 month but can’t make the effort to come and see us for Caitlyn’s 1st birthday. My only relief is that she doesn’t criticise me – but she lays it on DH thick and fast! He is a “terrible son”. Anyway – I could go on all day about the damage that she has done to her son and his new family but I don’t think I will bore you with the details!!
Saffi – Ewwwww on the spew!! But, how freaky is this, just as I was reading that post daycare called to let me know, as a courtesy, that Caitlyn had just had a power spew! All over herself. I think my little chubba bubba has eyes that are bigger than her stomach and she over ate. AT least I hope that’s all it is. Although I must admit I would like a day off! But wont be much of a day off if I am looking after Caitlyn!
Willow – am thinking of you and the whole wrap/sleep thing – it can’t be easy for you! :grouphug:
Caitlyn slept from 7pm until 3 this morning and then I just couldn’t settle her. She would roll over and look/sound like she was asleep but in reality she was just waiting for me to get back to bed and get comfy and warm before she woke up and started talking/crying!
Trish – great that Joel actually enjoyed going to Kinder today! Makes it easier! Caitlyn isn’t doing much other than rolling – one way! She doesn’t roll from belly to back yet but she tries oh so hard to get there! She is getting up on her hands and knees but doesn’t stay for long and if I leave her for a little she ends up pushing herself backwards along the floor.
Viv – Not great about the nurse!! Can you find out if she is on before you make the appointment? Nothing like leaving an appointment disappointed or thinking that things didn’t go as expected!
Oh – the nappy rash – fungal infection!! What a bad mum I am for leaving it this long!! Got some cream for it and put it on after bath last night and this morning it is looking soooo much better!! I can’t put it on the spot on her tummy cause she has a little carpet burn (no tummy time for a little bit) but once that heals I can put it on to clear it up. Little baby skin heals in no time so I cannot wait for my little girl to not have an itchy foo foo!!
Had better head off – am at work as per usual bored out of my brain. I hope you are all having a fantastic day! MWAH

Well I think bad mummy of the day goes to me! Myles was playing on the floor while i went to the bathroom and found one of those silica gel bags(i have no idea where it came from?) and ate it!!!!! He didnt eat the whole thing and i got most of it out of his mouth! I called the poisons hotline straight away in a panic!!! They said it will just pass through! He eats everything! Shoes, clothes bags! And licks everything! He liked the fence the other day while i was hanging the washing out! He is weird or does every ones kids do this?

Viv - Wow, James is huge! You obviously have the good stuff ;). Can you request a different health nurse? K always screams when we see ours, but he hates being poked and prodded by strangers (can't really blame him).

Dianne - It must be so hard to get kids out of bed and off to school! I remember how much I hated getting out of bed when I was a kid. I'm not looking forward to going through that with my own! Wow @ Bella for her long sleep, that's amazing!

Julia - It scares me how similar our boys sound! GL at your appointment this arvo. I hope all goes well with your MIL looking after Max too.

Got a nasty headache today from being dehydrated. I've been a bit slack with keeping up the drinking, I'll have to get back onto that today!

Now on to some HAPPY news(That's a first in awhile)
We are Pregnant again, not sure of dates but guessing mid/late March.
Was going to say something last week, but didn't want to ruin Ange's happy news.
So praying hard that this one sticks :)
Dr seems confident that everything will go well, the + shows up on the test before it's even finshed.
Had my HCG levels taken today & i will again on Saturday to make sure they are doubling.
Go for an ultrasound next Thursday to check out dates & see if we can see a :heartbeat:.

Well after Caitlyn's power spew at DCare yesterday she was fine when I got her home. Not a drama! But I did only feed her potato and pumpkin last night - no pasta or other veges - thought I would try and keep it a little bland for her. She had a bottle - well a few sucks at it anyway and then was in bed by 630. She woke up crying at 9 and I went in, patted her behind and made sure she had her dummy and she went back to sleep. She stirred at 2 and I got up and made a bottle but by the time I got to her room she was asleep again. Instead of waking her I thought I would just leave her and see how things went. She didnt wake again until DH's alarm went off at 630!! Mind you - I kept waking up thinking "Was that her??"
Trish-I could go on ALLLL day about my MIL. She is just a very selfish person I think. She thinks that birthing her son was enough. And then she pretty much fobbed him off to his dad for the next 20 years. Now she thinks she can tell him how to be a parent. Tell me....what sort of parent lets their 15 yr old son sleep on the couch in the loungeroom and get woken up by some strange guy "commando crawling" past him out of his mums room. And then the next night brings home a second guy.....oh here I go....stop me now!!
Well I am in Townsville next week so more than likely will be offline for that week. But I will check my email and get all the updates.
