Oh No...Max has been snoring lately so now I'm worried!! He has NOT got a cold! I have had my adenoids and tonsils out and have constantly had probs with my nose being blocked all the time...I'm going to get Max's lil snoz checked out...maybe that is why he keeps waking up!
Mo - Great to hear all is well with Cookie! Its the best hearing that speedy heart beating away! Awwww I really miss being pregnant! Julia - It would be hard not to worry when know your bub is snoring and shouldn't be, but I bet what ever it is the Drs will have him sorted out in no time! Kazaraz- Your poor little girl! That must be so horrible for her. I too would go and have it all checked out by a specialist, some kiddies are prone to certain things, but there surely has to be so kind of a reason?! Amber - Awwwwww that sounds way too cute having Myles dress up as cupid! I can't wait to see they pics! Celtic - I looooooooooooove having relaxing showers when Josh is home and Tiera is in bed, but Josh (DH) doesn't understand that and ALWAYS comes in!!! lol I just can't do anything without being interupted these days! Saffi - Fiji is very kid friendly and I ould highly recommend it for anyone! My brother got married there 2 yrs ago and it was perfect for couples and then oing back this year with Tiera, it was perfect for bubs and we also took my 8y/o nephew and ideal for kids! You can do what ever you wanna do and the people are soooooo friendly! Also resort babysitters and Fijian nannies are really cheap if u want a few hrs alone or need some extra help. Not something I tapped into this time, but who knows... Maybe next time!
Tiera and I are heading to SYD today for the weekend. I have a friend's baby shower to attend tomorrow which will be great. I haven't seen her since she got pg so I'm really looking forward to seeing this belly of hers! I am just a litle worried cuz T has a little bit of a cold and I know there will be other babies there.... hmmmm I'll just wait and see how she is tomorrow morning and decide then what we will do.
Nickers - thanks for the advice. I would hate him to have surgery, but if it corrects a problem and prevents future learning difficulties, then of course we would need to have it done. He does stop breathing for a few seconds, five at the most sometimes, but I do that too so wasn't too concerned. He sleeps about 10-11 hours a night and about 3 hours during the day which seems normal. I will mention it to the GP when I visit next though as I would rather be on the safe side. DH snores but that might be an adult thing rather than a baby thing. Right now Caden is snuffly due to the flu so will take him when he is better.
Celtic - LOL about the shower. In the early days that was my one oasis of calm in an otherwise frantic day and DH would always comment on how long I spend in there. I figure a bit of water is cheaper than a nanny, a cleaner and a therapist, so he shouldn't be complaining!
Pish - it is hard to quarantine yourself when sick, I know if we did we wouldn't have been out for the last couple of months! Although we might not have gotten sick, the house-blues would have been far worst. I am sure she will be fine.
Minimax - my FIL has to be hooked up to a machine that opens his airways, otherwisse he has really bad sleep apnoea and snores badly. He said now that he has the machine it is like being able to breathe, he never realised how bad it was. He used to eat with his mouth open because his nose was blocked. Just goes to show how important those two little holes are
Boomba - cupid, cool! that would be so gorgeous. For Caden's first birthday I am hoping to make him a sailor outfit. I made a bee one for an event a while ago and he was the cutest thing
Saffi - Childcare seems a haven for every bug under the sun, but having said that, Caden is in family day care and has passed on more germs than he has gotten from there unknowingly of course! I have never been so sick in all my life than the last couple of months. First the flu, then a small bout of gastro (I even thought I might be pg) then a BIG dose of gastro through the whole family, now the flu AGAIN! It is hard enough taking care of yourself, but throw in a cranky DH and an irritable bub, and things start blurring together to become one big messy picture that is my life Hopefully it will be over soon
Sorry if I have missed anyone, I only can get on here every couple of days so struggle to keep up! Have a great weekend
Well it was liams first day at kindy today. It started off awful, I stayed with him for about an hour and then when I was leaving, he kicked and screamed and was shouting 'Mummy!!" For as far as I could hear him. Broke my heart, I think I cried for the next hour, LOL
Anyway I rang a few times and they said he was ok, and by the time I went to pick him up, he was having fun. I asked him if he wanted to go back next week and he said, "Yes!!" So that is good, I was so worried about him but he was better than I thought he would have been.
I have found though this afternoon he has been very clingy and cuddly towads me so maybe he is scared I am going to leave him again, poor baby...
Anyway how is everyone else? Furiously getting birthday parties ready I guess? Am I the only one who is not really having a party for CHels? Id love to but not really any of our family are up here in QLD apart from my parents so there isnt much point. We will have a nice quiet family dinner I think. She is bound to get very spoilt though!
Dragonbub - I hope you get DS snoring issues sorted out, poor little thing...
Tiff - Have a fantastic time in Sydney!!!!
Oh gosh I havent been on in a few days and i cant remember what was said on the last page. Sorry guys, will make a better attempt next time Hope your all well!!!
Dragonbub- Agreed! Where we are you get so much free water before you need to start paying and our last water bill was $6 so I think we can cope if I escape for an extra long shower to regain sanity every now and then!
Pish- I know! I'm there relaxing away in the shower and if bubs is awake suddenly I've got DP, Ryan and two cats in the bathroom with me, need a lock on the door me thinks! lol
Got a scare yesterday got a call from the daycare centre come get ryan he has a temp, a rash and is bleeding from his ear, get an emergency appointment at the dr and his temp is coz he's been left in the sun to play with a jumper and tracksuit and has a bit of sunburn, his rash is either the harmless viral rash he had before now hes off antibiotics or that he was rolling around in the sand pit and fake grass and the blood is because he scratched down in his ear! Ahhh *stress* lol
Hi everyone,
How was your week?
Mine was crazy busy. Well lots of great news this week. Ethan started walking!!!! He can take 1 and 2 steps by himself which is so exciting. Dh was there to witness it all too so that was great.
Cows milk is going well. I am just giving E about 50mls to taste it with his arvo tea. Well he loves it. In the holidays we are going to try giving him brekky when he wakes up instead of a bottle and giving him a cup of cows milk for morning tea. Hopefully by the end of the holidays he will have that working well so it isn't so bad for Nana when I am at work.
Looking forward to the holidays. Will spend lots of time with Ethan to make up for me working. Unfortunately, I have heads of work to do from home but that will be ok. One of the perils of being a school teacher.
As far as the vacuum phobia goes. He still hates it but oh well. He will grow out of it.
Swimming this week was great. Ethan cried the first time he was dunked and then got over it and didn't cry again all lesson. Yay!!! He had this funny expression of his face when he noticed all the other babies crying as if to say 'what's all the fuss about'.
Very amusing.
Anyway better be going. Hope all you sydneyites are enjoying the heat wave.
Celtic that would have been a scare....
I had a scare with Ty yesterday too which i rushed him to my gp without an appointment.
since Thurs he had a temp of high 38's so been giving him nurofen and panadol and his eyes just told he didnt feel well.
anyway yesterday when waking i took his temp he was 40.9...... i stripped him t a nappy and singlet and took him straight up. the doc was already in seeing someone and i had to wait like 30min. it was air conned and i took some water which he drank, by the time we got in there his temp was down to 37.2 thankfully.... anyway he has a middle ear infection so now both boys have them and both on antibiotics.
Nickers & Celtic - God they are some scares...Thankfully Rhys has never had a temp higher then 38!!
Alz - Rhys has that same expression on his face when he gets dunked too. Absolutely loves it though.
Becky - He will get use to going to kindy!! My nephew absolutely loves it and hates being at home not around other kids.
Pish - I hope you and T had a wonderful time in Sydney!!
Saffi - I am in the same boat as you with teething. Rhys has all 8 and I am thinking it is molars but it is so hard to feel for them same he just don't sit still no more. LOL
Claire - Great to hear you are settling in well. It always takes ages for me to settle cause I am forever re-arranging the furniture/ornaments.
That is all I can remember for now. For the ones I missed "Hello and I hope you are all well!!"
Rhys has started walking and it taking steps in bunches of 10-20 steps and the expression on his face when he relises what he is doing is priceless. We had such a gorgeous weekend in QLD this weekend...perfect weather with gorgeous summer afternoon storms!! The best way to end a day with a lightning display from your back yard!!
Well I off now to sort through my PartyLite gear. I have just started with them and can't wait to go through all my stuff!! YAY...
a shocking weekend here, had a family reunion to drive to 4 hours from where we live on saturday morning. it was pretty good but most of craigs family i was meeting for the first time as he doesnt have much to do with his mums side. we had to stay in the dodgiest motel though. i could have dealt with it if it was just dodgy, but it was dirty as well, i had to clean wee off the toilet seat before i used it so i wasnt exactly comfortable sleeping in the bed and poor lochy wasnt even allowed to crawl because i was scared he would catch something lol. at least i dont have to do it for another five years.
then had to drive home today with a tired grumpy boy. no good
i feel sorry for the bubs who arent the best at the moment. went through last week with loch only drinking milk cos he just refused to eat food.
saffi- do they have a baby reading club or something or do you just go and read him books???
becky- yeah im organising lochs party. did you have one for liam?
amber, im leaving the cake making to my professional as well
amelia and alz, swimming lessons sound fun. i am going to start them in summer.
nickers, been such a long time since we have crossed paths
and hello to
trish, dragonbub, celtic, pish, minimax, kazaraz, trinity, star and anyone else i have missed
Busy day today. PILs came over and MIL and I clipped one of my dogs (she really needed it - poor thing), then I washed both of them, took L out for a walk, cooked a chook and did the ironng. Phew!
Alz - had to laugh this morning. My DH was doing the vacuuming, with the vacuum hose in one hand and carrying L with the other. He seemed perfectly happy being around it. He was unhappier being left in his activity centre than anything else. Nick - that would have been so scary. Poor Ty! But at least now they are both being treated so that should be the end of it. Kate - the State Library isn't like a normal library. Anyway, they have this section where they have toys and other activities. A couple of women (and all the mums and dads there) sing nursery rhymes to the bubs and then after a while a man with a guitar and a harmonica takes over. I don't think I'm doing a good job describing it. Go to the state library website for more info. Anyway apart from the parking it is free and heaps of fun.
Question - how do you brush bub's teeth? I have a tooth brush for him, one of those finger brushes, I try while he is in the bath, when he is on the change table, let him play with the brush, hold him down, even brush my teeth in front of him so he gets the idea, just to mention a few things I have tried. As soon as I go anywhere near his mouth he clamps it closed. I don't want to make it a negative experience for him but at the same time need to get in there and get him used to it. Any suggestions?
Today L ate lettuce for the first time. I was making a salad for lunch so to keep him quiet I put a leaf on his tray. He actually gnawed at it.
Anyway, its a school night so I better get to bed.
Hello to all the mums and bubs out there. More during the week.
Hi All, had a great weekend here ... busy but good. Trying to get our yard sorted for Tay's birthday party, and we need to put all the toys back together because we havent unpacked them since we moved
Nickers & Celtic - I hope that your babies are ok now. There is nothing worse than when they get sick, you feel so helpless. We have had a few 40+ temps with the girls over the time and it scares you. A gp I seen once said that a 40+ temp in a child isnt that bad ... what?!*$ That goes against everything anyone has ever told me, and I do wonder about some gp's and whether they have got their licences out of a Weeties box.
Misskate it sounds like to motel room was really dodgey ... you poor things! There is nothing worse than being in an environment where you just dont feel clean.
Congrats for Rhys walking MonkeyMan'sMummy, when they start walking around this age they just look so cute and so little!
Saffi I didnt start brushing Mia's teeth till a bit later when she was interested, now I cannot get the brush off ofher. I think she like the taste of the toothpaste. I brush them first and then get her to do it and tell her what to do, she is getting pretty good. I think we started at about 18months.
Alz, Dragonbub, Pish, Minimax, Becky, Boombaz & Trinity and anyone else I have forgotten ... hi
Oh, one more thing .. how do I put on a birthday countdown ticker or an age ticker for the kids? I have been looking this morning and cannot find where you do it. Found the pregnancy ticker, but that doesnt do me much good as I am not pregnant!
We had such a busy weekend. It was MIL's birthday yesterday so we had a BBQ at our house with the family. We spent all day Saturday cleaning, shopping, cooking, making salads, and doing odds and ends then had the party at lunchtime yesterday. No one left until 4:30pm and then we had to leave (very late!) to go to a first birthday party. Of course there was still cleaning up to do when we got home so we are all pretty tired! The weather was perfect though so it worked out really well.
K had a great time with the family, he was all smiles and cuteness. FIL was so horrible to MIL though, he'd given her a card with $50 in it for her birthday (he lives in a nursing home so can't get to the shops). When MIL dropped him off to his home after the party he asked her to take him out tomorrow, MIL said she can't as she has her elderly mother staying o'night as well as her brother who lives 2 hours away, so she needs to be their host. FIL cracked it with her and demanded his $50 back . Who does that??? He's so selfish! Grrr....sorry for the vent!
Saffi - I'm glad you had a great time at the library, it sounds like fun! I brush K's teeth with a wash cloth when I bath him, he only has two prominent teeth still!
misskate - Yuck, that motel sounds disgusting! And that long drive must have been so tiring for you all. I hope Lachlan feels better today.
Amelia - Congrats on Rhys walking, what a clever boy! K is so far off from walking LOL! What is PartyLite?
Nic - Oh my goodness how scary! I hope poor Tyron makes a quick recovery, ear infections are so horrible and painful.
Alz - Wow, Ethan is clever walking! Enjoy the holidays with him
Celtic - That must have been so scary when the DC centre called you! I'm glad Ryan is OK, I hope his rash is nothing serious. How many days is he in DC?
Becky - I'm glad Liam ended up enjoying kindy, it's so hard to leave them when they are so upset isn't it? It took Joel a few sessions before he stopped crying when I left. He always settled within minutes of me leaving, but man it was horrible. I love your ticker photo of Chelsea BTW!
Pish - I hope you had a nice time in Sydney for your friend's baby shower!
Amber - How did the party go on the weekend? Myles would have looked so cute!
Kazaraz - I'm glad you worked out how to post a thread! Have you found a good cake place now? You can find birthday tickers at sites like lilypie.com or tickershack.com. If you're having trouble let me know and I'll try help!
Julia - Max sounds like he is really on the move now! K's sleep has been pretty dodgy too lately, I think because two teeth are trying to come through at once. Some nights he wakes up constantly so I go in and either give him back his dummy and tuck him back in or I give him some Panadol if he is waking up too frequently. On a good night he only wakes up once, but lately it's two or three times. Luckily he is so easy to settle back to sleep, I think he just likes to know I'm there!
Mo - I'm glad your NT scan went well last week! I am going to harrass and pressure you for the next 8 weeks now to find out the gender
Viv - Where are you these days? I hope you and James are well!
Kellie - Did you end up going to the Mattel Playhouse?
Trish - PartyLite is a candle company. You do shows at people houses for them and they get $50 voucher for just having the party and then 20% of the $550 show to spend on products that they want and I earn between 22%-33% on what gets sold!! Visit www dot partylite dot com dot au. If you want me to mail you some catalouges or anything let me know.
Kazaraz - Sorry, I've been hanging out washing! You need to copy and past the BB code, not the HTML for your ticker to show up properly. See how you go!
Amelia - That sounds great! I'll definitely PM you if I have some pressies I need to buy!
You put the code into your signature then preview it to make sure it is working properly :-)
Turned out Ryans rash was heat rash from sweating and over heating being left in the sun and he got sunburnt. Ryan's last day of daycare this week! He was in for one day a week, then he got a free day a week I didn't want so he was in two days a week (twice the chance of catching illness's!)
I posted on the uni forums and have two mums wanting to make a local mums group, going to get Ryan into baby swim classes Thursday mornings and see if they want to do it as well.
Anyway he's being really really whingey today, his cheeks are red but no temperature so maybe teeth or the sunburn annoying him. Will write back personals later :-)
