Rebecca - congrats on the move to Townsville. I know you'll be so much happier being near family and friends, not to mention work and of course shops that actually have things in them.
Re cows milk, I asked this of the MCHN yesterday. She recommended substituting the lunchtime bottle of formula with 200ml of full cream milk to begin with and then go from there. The other thing she said was to try to have them drink from a sippy cup and not the bottle. She said that you could mix formula and milk and gradually replace it with all milk. I figure that if they are eating cheese, yoghurt etc with no probs then milk should be ok straight up. She also said that there was no point to the toddlers formula unless the child had special nutritional needs. I think Trish said the other day they have lots of sugar in them. Does that help? Not good about the polyps. Hope the test comes back in the clear.
Amber/Becky - yes I do meet up with some of the ladies at my crawlers class and at the State Library. Is the Brisbane meetup on a Sunday?
Kaz - I hope you have a better night tonight. I reckon your DH will owe you big time when he gets home from his business trip.
Celtic - interesting recipe for earaches. I'd like to see L lie still enough to get oil into his ear in the first place. Can you get odourless garlic oil?
Mo - 12 months needles. Just when L thought it was safe to go back to the Drs LOL
Becky - hope you have a nice night out at the movies. What are you seeing? Can highly recommend Gold Class.
Anyway, day off tomorrow. Will be at home waiting for our new fridge to be delivered. Have the washing machine already loaded up and waiting for me to start when I get up in the morning. Hopefully I don't need to hang around all day and L and I can get out at some point.
I'll check in tomorrow.
Heeeyyyyy all!
Had a great night out although the movie sucked!!! Saw Eagle Eye because it looked sooo good. Trust me, it was up there with the worst films I have ever seen at the movies! LOL. And dont ask me why because I have absaloutely NO idea what it was about! LOL. Gold class was great though! Lucky those chairs were comfy.....
Sorry but I wont be making the meetup. Day before Chelsea's birthday so we have quite a bit on, BBq lunch etc just for a few friends. Maybe next time!!
Anyway, Im a bit tired now. be back tomorrow. Hi to all.
Rebecca - I hopre the tests come back ok fr you, will keep my fingers crossed. As for the cows milk, I tried half and half, but Tay seemed to get really upset with this and vomited after most bottles. So I just swapped straight to cows milk. She has had no problem with it and actually drinks her bottles now! Its great and so much easier. I have also stopped sterilising! I remember I was still sterilising until about 18 months with Mia, before someone said to me that you didnt need to. Life is so much easier without sterilising and formula! I have also decided to throw all of our bottles out and buy new ones for the next baby that are bpa free. We brought 3 bigger bottles the other day at K-mart for Mia and Tay (Mam Ultivent) which are cool as they are pink and purple. The only trouble I am having is finding fast flow teats, which you can apparently get at Target or online.
Becky - shame about that movie, my dh and I really wanted to see that as well. Thanks for the word of warning!
Saffi - yes you are right. Especially since last night I had a sick 2 and a half year old. Mia has a temp in the high 30's. it didnt break until the second dose of panadol at 3am. She woke up 10 this morning and its come back. She is now lying on the couch watching teli, so I am thinking about trying to get her into the doctors. We are heading to Adelaide saturday, and I would rather a happy healthy girl than a sick and miserable one!
Hi to everyone else I have missed. Have a great day.
Morning ladies!
Well I have worked out that it is only my desktop computer that wont lwt me see new posts on this site... The Lap top works, so we'll stick to that! :)
Had a terrible night with Tiera... She kept waking up for seemingly no freak'n reason. Every time I put her back down she'd either wke straigh up or wait until I had just got back to bed and she'd wake up crying! I really dont know what was wrong with her, but she wasn't a hapy chappy! So this morning I have been a little on the cranky side and sorta took it out on DH and then he got really cranky and stormed out... Oh dear, I wish I could control myself better sometimes! Hmmm well he's over it now.... I think..... I am still cranky but not letting it show! :D When im tired I also get cuddley and it drives DH up the wall. The poor thing can't just go to work and have a break from us cz we live n work at the same place! lol oh dear, poor thing. Oh well I guess the day can only get better for all of us.
Saffi - I hope you are enjoying your day off! Theres nothing better :)
Becky - Glad to hear you had a great night last night, sux about the movie though
Rebecca - You must really be looking forward to going back to your hometown with all of your family! RE Moo Milk..... I just made all of Tiera's milk based food (ie breakfast) with f/c milk, then just replaced a FF with f/c milk and just gave her f/c milk when the formular was finished. I have already got her only Moo Milk, no forular any more which the Comm nurse doesn't have a prob with cuz T is very health and really doesn't get sick. I have T on milk in a cup at morning tea time and a warm bottle of milk before bed now adn water throughout the day. Some days I do give her 50/50 juice, but to be honest she prefers straight water.
SYD mummas - Do any of you meet up at all? If any of you are interested in metting up let me know and we can organise a day and place... I do live in Forster, but as I dont work I can come down whenever these days. I'd love to put faces to names!
Facebooker - For those of you that I haven't yet got on my facebook, My name is Tiffany Kingsmill - There is a pic of me on the quad with my dog on the back. I love seeing all the bubs pics and what everyone has been up to, feel free to add me.
I hope you all have a great day. A big hello to anyone I missed.
Take care
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the support everyone with regards to my grandma. You wont believe it. Ethan lost the present she gave him. So cross!!!! I know where to get the present so I will go and buy him another one.
Well I am still sick. Kept dh up all night last night coughing. I have another doctors appointment today so hopefully they can do something this time.
Ethan is being an angel today. We drove up to Newcastle yesterday so it was a big day for him. He is catching up on his sleep today. Been asleep for 2.5 hours which is lovely.
I probably sound like a broken record. I want to know about cow's milk. We switched Ethan a couple of weeks ago. I am just really confused about how much he should be having. Some people say 2 cups, some 3 some say it doesn't matter as long as he is getting calcium. How much should he have? At the moment on a good day he will have half a cup at morning tea and about 100mls before bed. He also has some on his cereal and I try and give him some cheese or a yoghurt or a custard every day as well. Does this sound right? He has always been a pain to get milk into.
Anyway, thanks for the advice.
Ta, ta
Alz - you don't actually have to give him cow's milk at all. Other sources of dairy are fine, so if he's having cheese, yoghurt, custard etc etc then it really doesn't matter how much milk you give him, even none at all is fine if he doesn't want it! After I stopped b'feeding DD at 16 months, she had a bit of milk in a cup on the mornings I went to work and that was it. That was only so she had something until she got to MIL's and had her b'fast there. Other then that, I didn't bother with it.
alz - I was told the same as what Willow is telling you. I give Tiera a cup full in the morning, a bottle og approx 200 ml at night and she also has it in her b'fast, she has cheese and yoghurt everyday and somedays she also has baby custard. My Comm nurse said that was just fine and she should be getting all of the nutrients she needs (along with all of the fruit, veg and meat of course!). It does get hard when ppl tell you all different things! :)
Alz - Rhys is on full cream cow's milk and this is his daily intake:
7am: Breakfast - Cereal mixed with a small jar of fruit puree and a couple of teaspoons of milk,
9am: 240ml bottle of milk,
9:30am: Morning nap for 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours,
11am: jar of fruit gel or a custard,
12:30pm: lunch,
2pm: 240ml bottle of milk,
2:30pm: Afternoon nap 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours,
4pm: Afternon tea - normally the opposite of what he has had int he morning,
5:30pm: Tea,
6:15pm: 260ml of milk,
6:45pm: Bed!!
Hope this helps in some way or form.
Alz - No your not a broken record!! And I say the same. My DS HATED milk for a long time up until about 6 months ago. I could not get it into him. I just used to make sure he had cheese and yoghurt etc all through the day. He was more than happy with that. think Im gonna make the transition this week too! That sux about losing the present.... :( At least you can get another one.
Tiff - It sux when ya just feel like that hey. Sometimes I just get cranky at DH and I dont even know why.... LOL. I guess all the stresses of the day add up sometimes hey. Hope your feeling better.
Just got home from taking the kids to this huge indoor play centre. They had soooo much fun, both of them. Definately going to take them again. Not much else from me though. Im sitting here while my 2 are supposed to be sleeping. Well Chelsea is but Liam is in there chatting and talking to himself. I have a strong, bad feeling that he is trying to cut out his day sleep altogether!!!! Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Becky - Great to hear your little people had a good time. I took Tiera to soft play (same thing I guess) and she had a great time.... Although I think DH loved it just as much! lol The best part was everything is so soft that they can't really hurt themselves, or not badly anyway. DH was putting Tiera at the top of a small foam slippery dip n letting her go for me to catch her and she LOVED it! She was laughing and laughing... too cute! :) As for DH he is over it and I have been a lot nicer! lol oh dear I guess those who as closest to us seem to cop it when we are out of sorts. Oh well it works both ways!
Hey all!
Had a busy day today - had a visit from my mum, a couple of customers and I babysat a friends bub for a little while. I'm loving this sunny weather! K is having good and bad days with his teething, I just want those teeth to hurry up and pop out!
Re: cows milk. K is really not interested in it, he has a few sips, but that's about it. I have just been giving him lots of cheese, yoghurt, etc. My MCHN said as long as he is having 3 serves of dairy a day he will be fine.
Pish - I'm glad you can post on BB with your laptop! Did you try clearing your cache and deleting your cookies off your other computer? Sometimes that's all it needs to work properly again. I hope you have a better night with Tiera tonight, could it be teething? K wakes frequently when he's about to get a tooth. I'm glad you and your DH are on better terms!
Becky - I'm glad you had a fun day at the play centre, all kids love them! I hope Liam doesn't drop his day nap just yet!! I'm glad you had a good time at the movies too, even though it was a dud!
Amelia - I'm sooo jealous of Rhys' long naps!
Willow - Thanks for popping in with your wisdom!
alz - What a shame your Grandma's present to Ethan is missing. Hopefully it turns up before you have to buy a new one. I'm so sorry to hear of her recent passing, I lost my Grandma 7 years ago and it was just devestating. I wish she could have been here to see my boys.
Kazaraz - Poor Mia, I hope she feels better soon. Did you take her to the Dr?
Saffi - Hope you had a nice day off today! Did you get your new fridge?
Rebecca - Woohoo on moving back to Townsville!!! I hope your test results come back all clear.
Celtic - Thanks for the ear info, I'll definitely look into it for K if he ever needs it. That's great that Ryan is improving!
Amber - I hope you had a better night with Myles last night. It's so tiring when they keep you up at night and cling to you all day.
Hi to everyone I've missed. Have a great night!
Not sure it's wisdom dude, but hope it helps someone! LOL!:
Willow - Thanks for popping in with your wisdom!
Trish - It took alot of strong will to get him to where he with his sleeping!! As my mum kept saying to me the whole time....TOUGH LOVE AMELIA!!
Trish - yes we went to the doctors yesterday. I thought it was just a cold, but then when I got the girls dressed yesterday morning, Tay was covered in red spots. I had a look at Mia and she has a few ... first thing I think is measles or chicken pox. So we went to the doctors, waited an hour at lunch time / sleep time. So the girls were getting toey, I spoke to the receptionist that asked the doctor to take us in next .. thankfully. He was a great doctor, had a soft spot for my girls I think as he has two older girls close in age. He got them out of the pram, lifted them onto the bed and everything. Then he put Mia in his seat and stood and talked to me! Anyway ... he said that he is pretty sure its viral. Their ears and throat were fine. He said the chicken pox is going around, but because Mia has been fully immunised she is fine, just to keep an eye on Tay. Her spots are still there today, so I am not sure what is going on, as she is fine other wise. Mia is still a bit sooky, poor love. But Daddy comes home today, I think that might be part of her problem!
Tough love - its hard but the rewards outway the tears let me tell you. We have also done the tough love thing with Tay, as she has been terrible to put down. We are now seeing the benefits, with our cute little 1 year old sleeping through and not having the midnight wakeups for the past almost week!
Yeah it is really rewarding hey Kaz....Rhys sleeps straight through and I have found too that the cow's milk settels him better as well.
Saffi oooh a new fridge! Whats it like? thats great you still all meet up! the bb meetup is a sunday! The link has all the info you need :)
Trish how did babysitting go wiht k and the bubs?
alz Myles doesnt really have too much cows milk he is not that interested. Mum is at me to give it too him but he is still bf so i figure he is getting enough hth! I must have missed the post about your grandma sorry, did she pass?
becky which play centre did you go to? we took Myles to one for his birthday, he loved it!
Rebeca :hug:hope everything turns out ok! Yay for moving back to townsville you must be so excited!
Tiff you poor thing did tiera sleep better last night? I get super crank too when Myles hasnt slept and poor DH gets the brunt of it!
hi to everyone else!
We dont do tough love here but you have to do what feels right hey! Now Myles is bigger i am a bit more "tough" on him just casue i know the whingey cry form the need something cry! We tried it once and it really didnt sit well with my mothering instict so we didnt do it again. but in no way am i judging just saying !
Myles has been sleeping a little better but still up a fair bit which is taking its toll on me! I would love a week of sleep ins ;)
Well i am off to get some stuff for the monkeys party! Have a good day everyone!
Amber - We took him to 'Lollipops Land' at Springwood. They both had an absaloute ball! Where did you go? I was wondering if there was one a bit closer? ANd geez.... Neisha IS hard to get onto hey.... tried calling her like 4 times and left messages.... oh well, keep trying :)
Well I have started Chel on milk now too and she seems to like it so far. Just drinks it from her sippy cup which is good. She really is not all that interested in bottles at all anymore.
Better be off to pick up Liam from daycare now! I miss him!!!
Be back soon!
