Jacinta I ws thinking the same thing!!

We are well here, had a day at MOPS(mothers of preschoolers) today which was nice, older ladies take care of bubs, and you get to share time with other ladies. Today they had a panel of women who answered questions mum's had about parenting and it was interesting listening to their experiences

Jemima and I went to BAC (birth after cesaer) group last night. My sister runs it and it is a debrief group for women who have had a c/section. I find it really good and it helps me off load how I feel about having had a c/s. Last night I was asked to bring along a vid of me and Jemima having our first breast feed in recovery because we used a technique called baby led attatchment, where you let the baby find the nipple and attatch themselves. I highly recommend it cos it help baby to figure out how to open their mouth before they have a nipple shoved in, and they attatch better because of it. So anyway that was nice.

So that's me... can't believe that it is only this weekend and then next we are all meeting!!!!!

yay for only 9 days to go! am really looking forward to getting out of here for the day!

E seems to be doing ok - she is sleeping on me (again) - started to get upset like her ears were hurting again, so i gave her a cuddle and she went to sleep so i'll see how she goes when she wakes up

DH has gone for an aptitude and probably driving test (cos 20+ years driving and good references don't convince them!) - hopefully this pans out or i'll have to go back to work. need to notify by the end of next week if i want to go back in december - otherwise i can't go back til jan 4...

I posted the other night but looking back it obviously never made it as has vanished. All good here have had some jet lag meaning that in the evenings after CJ is in bed (normal posting time) I am shattered. Very happy to be back in Melbourne, weather a tad warm but loving it. Will post tonight as I have to tidy up before DH comes home as been playing making towers with Cerys and there are blocks all over the floor - a definite trip hazard!

Isn't it amazing that our meet up is almost here!! I am getting quite excited!! I must look up my flight times etc and touch base with you Amy and Vic and confirm meeting up before etc - was anyone else meeting up with us? Bella I cant remember when you arrive?

Vic - welcome back, its good to hear from you, bugger re your previous post going astray. How is CJ's sitting up going? Pretty good I'd imagine if you are building towers together, too cute. I have been looking through your holiday snaps on FB, looks like you guys had an awesome time!

Bella - awesome re your video of J attaching. We have been really slack with our video camera, I take soooooo many still snaps but rarely get the video camera out, we took it away to QLD and I never used it LOL. I must start getting some regular footage of the little guy, I think I might get it out and leave it on the coffee table as encouragement Thanks for your lovely post, and you are right, its so hard not to be protective of our little ones, but thats why we have that motherly instinct built in isn't it. I'm starting to impliment some of the physio's recommendations, but sometimes I just forget - DOH!!

Jacinta - Yaaah re no more needles for 6 months, such a relief isn't it? And yep, we definately talk too much LOL

BG - I cant remember what you did for work before E? Are you going back soon anyway? I am starting to get quite anxious about returning to work. March 8th is my return date and it feels way too close. I went to the hair dresser today and left Bailey with Sean for about 4 hours and I missed him like crazy, it makes me wonder how I will cope with returning to work. Not sure what the best way to cope with it is? I need to start getting my head around it so I dont fall apart when the time comes. No doubt I will be a raging mess on the day but I need a strategy to feel positive about it.

Nicky - AWESOME re Allira's 8 hours, I hope she keeps it up for you, hooray, you've had such a tough run lately

Amy - hope your appt went well, how was Phoebe's stats, you reminded me I must go get Bailey weighed, I reckon he might have cracked the 7kg mark, since starting solids he has been growing up a storm, he is growing through his 00 clothes MUCH quicker than his 000.

Bailey is starting to get used to the heat and today sleeping hasn't been an issue, I think he was getting warm and uncomfortable and waking but seems to have aclimatised and we have been using the aircon or fans to make sure he is comfortable, and leaving him in just a nappy to keep him cool. We have to take him back for xrays etc this Thursday and find out about the brace etc, starting to feel a little anxious again, and worried what will happen and how will I travel to Melb alone on sunday depending on the outcome etc. Everything seems to worry me lately, my good old coping skills seem to have escaped me, I think I just lose my rational thinking when it comes to Bailey, the emotion clouds my thinking, but thats normal for a Mum I would say.....

Sean is a bit low about going back to work next week ( he returns on tuesday), he has really enjoyed being with Bailey 24/7 and is worried about missing him, and I know Bailey will look for his Daddy as he is very much his Daddy's boy. I should use this as a positive focus about going back to work when the time comes as Sean will be on long service leave with Bailey, this is a really positive thing for father and son, but I think my own selfishness of missing Bailey over-rides this - DOH

Anyway, I think I might go and put our Christmas Tree up. I remember putting it up last year and telling Sean "Next time we do this we will have our little baby here....." hehehe. I am going to put Bailey in his little xmas outfit and take a Christmas photo to send out, I just need that million dollar smile from the little guy I cant wait to take him to see Santa, seeing he loved sitting with Cookie and Abby from Sesame Street, surely Santa wont faze him (fingers crossed, I might jinx myself)

Naomi - i work/ed for centrelink in a FAO call centre. i am able to go back part time 2 days per week - and if C gets full time work, i can turn around and go BACK on mat leave til it is supposed to run out - yay!

good luck getting the million dollar smile - we got E in a little Christmas outfit and took some pics - i LOVE the digi camera - out of about 80 shots (yeah, i get snap happy lol) we got about 5 really good usable ones - so i'm working on our christmas photo/card now...

Just replying quickly so I can keep up.
Absolutely stuffed today... the heat is getting to me.
Didn't have another 8 hour night after Wednesday night, but I wasn't expecting to. Saw the GP yesterday and he said the kids just have a virus which is good I suppose. Just have to wait for them to get better.
Hubs is playing tennis today... I can't believe they didn't call it off seeming as it's going to be 40 degrees here. Glad I'm sick so I cna't play. LOL

    Ok... better go.
    Back later.

Jacinta: Yay for having gotten most of the vaccs over with. It's a great feeling after the 18mo ones... but I am already thinking about the 4yo ones and how they are going to be a nightmare, LOL! I still remember getting mine
Bella: Great that you are getting out and about with other mums. Cool about your vid! I was keen to do the breast crawl with Phoebs too, but in the end I did help her along a bit. But unlike Natty, she was very efficient right from the start. Had both sides while we were still in the birthing suite which the middie was happy about because P was very cold after the birth and we struggled to get her warm. The BF did the trick
BG: Sorry about all the uncertainty re C's work. It must be tough for you not knowing whether you've got to return or not. I think I am at peace about going back, but it would be hard to get to that point if you don't know if you're going or not. I am glad your work is so flexible though. Great that you can go back on mat leave if you're able to.
Vic: Hope you're over the jet lag soon.
Naomi: Oo, I had forgotten to post P's stats.
    Weight: 6.85kg
    Length: 64.5cm
    HC: 43.2cm
So she has slowed down this month. I had thought she'd have cracked 7kg too, but not there yet.
Hope the Santa photos work out well I haven't ever taken Natty for a Santa shot... what a dreadful mummy I am. Doubt I'll get one this year either. Money's a bit tight and I'm not all that into the Santa thing myself. I love the idea of the personalised Christmas cards though. They sound fabulous.
Nicky: Yeah, I can't believe the activity people still get up to in the heat! We're not as hot up here, closer to 30 than 40, but hot is hot. And we went out this afternoon to a stall with eco-friendly, ethically produced toys (bought secret santa gift!) run by a friend and there were people out playing tennis there too... at 2pm!

Well, I have been desperately applying for jobs but hearing nothing. I suppose there were a few that I only applied for late in the week, so I guess it's fair to wait a bit longer. Am getting a bit stressed about it TBH.
DH goes away tomorrow morning for a few days - he will get back on Wednesday night. I'm not too worried about it, although I tend to have a few scary thoughts overnight when he's away. It's silly really, but that's me. Hopefully three nights of it in a row won't break me, LOL. Unfortunately my mum, my rock, is going up the coast to my brother's place tomorrow afternoon to be up there on Monday and Tuesday because my niece is in hospital again. Will no doubt feel a bit lost without DH and my mum... But hopefully the days will go quickly enough.

Ooh, Nicky, meant to tell you I have gotten sneaky with Natty's food. She loves peanut butter, so I spread some mashed pumpkin under the peanut butter (mixed it in a little bit) on her muffin tonight and she is eating it! That's one vegetable... I wonder if I'll be able to sneak in any others in future...

LOL J, we're struggling with BLS too - I gave her a piece of avocado the other day and she just held it for a couple of seconds, shook it, and when it didn't rattle she just dropped it
I tried P on the mashed pumpkin but she wasn't interested. I think I'm going to leave it another week or two.
Tried giving P her first bottle tonight. No luck. Will try again after one of her sleeps - I wonder if she was just too tired to give it a fair go.

Jacinta and Amy - I have tried the BLS a few times too, and Bailey is just not interested (I think he is too lazy too), and one time where he did eat he shoved the watermelon so far down his throat that he started to gag/choke and it scared me half to death so haven't attempted since. I have tried to give him lumpier food but I dont think he is ready for it yet as he has gagged so he is still eating very purreed food atm. His current fav is mango and kiwi mixed together, tonight for the first time he didn't eat it all which I thought was great cos then I got to eat it LOL

Happy 6 Months Jamie, Allira and 5 months Jemima!

Amy - I sneak veggies into Seans food LMAO - yes my 37 yo husband refuses to eat most veggies so in things like spag bol etc I sneak grated veggies in - he is none the wiser!! Bailey will eat pretty much everything, if he is a bit non-plussed I just add pumpkin and he'll eat it. I had a big cook up and I have a freezer full of icecube portion fruit, vegies, sheppards pie and chicken casserole for him. We were out the other day and I tried to give him a tin of baby food and he turned his nose up and clamped his mouth shut LOL. He'll eat the chocolate custard one though LMAO. Want me to come up and stay hahahahahaha, Bailey and I will keep you, P and N safe while DH is away!!

Nicky your DH is dead crazy playing tennis in this heat - its like a sauna over here, 40 today, we have a cool change tomorrow - 26 LOL

Bella I have IMAC envy too

Went to the IL today - have to share this gem..... MIL asked me if I add sugar to Baileys water bottle? WTF? I asked what she meant and apparantly she used to put sugar in Sean and his brothers water when they were little so they would drink it (as well as glycerine and honey on the dummies LOL). She also told Sean that he has the toughest task with Bailey as when Sean is on parental leave Bailey may be crawling etc. I wanted to slap her..... as I'd forgotten how EASY the last 7 months have been for me Sheesh I think every age has its pro's and con's. Sean lapped it up, put I quickly put him back in his box LOL.

Anyway enough about her. Bailey is really hard to get to sleep at the moment. I used to be able to cuddle him to sleep in a few minutes and put him in his cot and he'd stay asleep. In the last week its taken an hour or so to get him to sleep and when I do put him in the cot he instantly awakes ..... so soooooooooooo frustrating. I'm thinking its a heat thing, I think my body heat against him makes him unsettled. Anyway, we'll see if it passes when it cools here a bit. I miss the sleepy cuddles, its just way to hot to cuddle for too long atm, we both end up sweaty and uncomfortable.

I have put our Xmas tree up, going to attempt my Xmas Photo of Bailey tomorrow - wish me luck
