YAY Viv! Ro and I were starting to feel like loners on the whole bub looking at Mumma whilst BF'ing... Seriously, she looks at me when I give her a bottle too... but it does nothing for me - I reckon she must send my body some whacky hormones with those suckles to the boob.
Pish - Is it not normal for babies to have an inny already? I thought they either had an inny or an outty? Ro's was an inny as soon as the stub fell off.
Ro's stub fell off just after a week... and jeez was I glad because god dammit it stunk! I didn't want to even hold or feed her the smell of rotting flesh was that bad! Did you guys clean your little ones stub? We didn't realise we had to until just before it fell off... and then the midwife told us we had to pull the stub right back and get in there and clean it. We were never told to at the hospital even when i enquired about the stub.
I have milk in my jugs again tonight... but not as much as last night, probably because I didn't have a nap today - I feel fine though!
Well hope you all have a good night with the bubbas... toodles! X
ETA - Laura... Get well soon! :hugs:
-
Yeah Chels's stub fell off at 5 days, and I agree with the stink thing! LOL
And same, Chelsea's button was an inny straight away too - so was Liam's
-
Oh Becky the photos of Liam and Chelsea are so cute!
Nic - got your txt with mondays details, thanks :)
Celtic - hope you feel better soon!
Leah - i'm using the avent dummies with Hayley, I've tried a few others but they all seem too big and the poor little thing seems to choke on them. Someone told me to try and get her on the Happy baby ones as soon as she can cope with the bigger size as they are the cheapest.
Hayleys cord fell off when I was changing her at about 12 days old or thereabouts
Well we're off to the beach tomorrow morning - DH will go surfing and I'll take Hayley for a walk as I'm not keen to get on the sand just yet, then we'll follow that up with a nice big breakfast!
Qu's: at what age can babies go in the surf? can you use sunscreen on them yet??
-
Yay Becky... my PM must have helped ya...glad to see the link works for ya piccies!!
I use NUK dummies for both girls...but took them off Chelsea once she worked out they could fit in her mouth.
OMG Catherine...remember that NUK thread we were both having our 2 cents worth in??? LOL
-
Maddi uses the NUK dummie's & they are so expensive, she also uses the NUK bottles.
I use a dummy chain because she had the worse habbit of spitting the dummy at the wrong places(car park etc...).
Celtic hope you feel better soon.
Becky love the pics
I'll be sending my SS gift this week, I'll probably open mine unless my SS wants me to wait :)
I brought Maddi a cute little outfit for christmas it's a t-shirt & santa hat also got her a christmas hairband.
-
Jasmine gazes inot my eyes when i feed her too...and holds my pinky.
Xmaz for Jas i got: Xmaz outfit, santa stocking with her name, soft POOH book, clothes, xmaz bauble with her name. Still need to buy lots more...but kinda blew the budget on Chelsea's birthday gifts..!
Mo how do you find the NUK bottles? I used them for Chels with no troubles but Jas has problems sucking from them. So now just use Avent...our fridge is packed with millions of them...i always confuse Chels's with Jas's...gotta pay attention to the numbers on the teats!
-
Hey
Is anyone else's bub holding their heads up? Chels is so good at it. Of course we always still support it, but when she is lying on her tummy (especially when she is laying on me) sh can hold her head up and just stare at you for like 5 minutes, without dropping it! I remember Liam was like this too. She is also smiling non sto at the moment too!
-
Maddi has been doing it for awhile now, i can't believe how much stronger he gets everyday.
Kim Maddi seems to like the NUK ones we used the Avent/Medela ones while i was expressing & she didn't like them too much, Also tried the Tommee Tippee ones but she push the teat down because they are so flexible.
-
TBH Becky, Rochelle has been able to hold her own head up since birth... But I kind of thought that was the norm now a days? Kids seem to be stronger and smarter? Our Dr and nurses commented on it, but I've seen plenty of other babies do it also. I don't think she's given us a genuine smile yet... but we've had the pleasure of lots windy ones that look real and It's nicer to think they are real!
Kate - Sunscreen is fine - but just use the sensitive or baby stuff... Not sure about the surf, but bubs can swim in a pool as long as there belly buttons are Ok.
Kim - Yes, I remember... that was intense!
I also have nuk dummies and a nuk chain... but we are still yet to use them.
Bris/GC meet up... How soon do you ladies want to meet up? this week, next week, December? Does anyone have days that aren't good for them?
-
Kimbaz-have mastitis and another infection in the uterus, I didn't have a temperature so means my body wasn't fighting it or something like that. Pumped me full of drugs then sent me home with more lol, having 8 tablets a day fun times..
Yes they let bubs in with you if they are very young/breastfeeding. I have a friend (got kicked out of home by her bf but are still on and off big dramas...) staying with us so she looked after Ryan till Daddy got home
Feeling better just very tired, starting to get cramps today maybe AF around the corner? Has anyone got AF yet? How long till you're meant to get it? Just been FF from all the drugs they reackon these ones are safer (but are heaps stronger) so I don't want to risk Ryan by pumping him full of antibiotics too... you can get AF a lot earlier if you don't BF right?
Becky-yes Ryan does too when he's laying on my on his tumy he lifts his head up to look at me usually for about 2-3minutes before he finds something else to stare at.
How's everyone else holding up? Any chrissy plans?
-
i thought babies weren't supposed to be in the sun until 6 mths?
yes, stump was cheezay!
jj was a head holder too but then he was the size of a school kid so what did i expect? sometimes i forget he's a newborn.
-
Poor thing Lauren... even just expressing with mastitis feels like razor blades! But you have to keep emptying them for the sake of the mastitis anyway... Least Ryan won't have to suck out all the puss and mucous! Poor Ro :(
ETA - Viv, The home MW told us to take her outside and lay with her on a rug for some fresh air etc. obviously in some shade though... Plus you can get swimming lessons from birth now.
-
Cath - Would prefer a weekday,'tho can do a weekend, and the only days that don't suit me are 19/11, 20/11, 23/11, 6/12 and 13/12. Would like to meet up sometime in the next month, before Xmas festivities start to take up all our time? Maybe the first week of December?
Celtic - sorry to hear u have been so unwell. Hopefully u are on the road to recovery now.
We use Avent everything - dummies, teats, pump, steriliser, bottles. Did buy some Tommee Tippee dummies but they are too big for him.
L slept from 6.30pm to around 10.30 last night. After a feed he then slept until 4am. After numerous feeds couldn't settle him. DH then reminded me of that settling technique u use Trish. Within 10 mins he was asleep. Mind u he screamed for 5 mins and if DH hadn't of been with me I would have given up. He then slept for another 2+ hours- as did I. Got to learn not to panic and be more persistent.
Off to the inlaws today. Will be L's first outing to another person's home. fingers crossed.
Thanks Trish for the colic advice. I don't think that is his problem - more just being overtired and how we settle him. Will keep in mind tho.
-
Brissy meet up Im available any day!
Myles cord fell off on day 7 I think?
He has alos been holding his head up from week 3 I think!....gee this baby brain I really should write this stuff down! He is a real sticky beak I think once he can do it himself he will be happy!
Christmas plans, My favourite time of year! I am so excited about christmas! We have friends coming from the uk for the week before, then DH brothers family coming for the 2 weeks over christmas! Also my mum and dad will have their pool finished so yay we can swim the whole time! Cant wait to get Myles in there!
sorry no personals today I am trying to stay off the computer for a day! Well obviously it didnt work!
Hope you all have had a great weekend and have had some type of sleep!
Cuddles to mummas and bubbas! xo
-
How about Monday the 26th November ladies? Would we like to do a lunch thing or morning tea?
-
26th suits me!! How bout we make is like a 10am/11am thing that way for those who have to travel can get home in time for a afternoon nap themselves!!
-
Morning ladies!
So jealolus of your meet-up!... Although I did get to meet some Perth BB mummies last night (no kids or bubs), at a dinner one of the girls organised. I was the newbie - they all knew each other! And are meeting at the park with kids/bubs on Wednesday, so gonna try and get to that too.
Cord - I can't remember when Kaylee's fell off, can't remember it smelling but I was cleaning it pretty well, as shown by the midwife at the hossy when they showed us how to bath her! Kaylee had an innie as soon as it fell off!
Beach - I dunno, but would be interested to know! But can tell you mum had me down at the beach at 8-days old - but not in the water... And sure we will have Kaylee down at the beach soon :). But very cautious about keeping her out of the sun as she has mummy & daddy's very pale complexion!
Head - Kaylee has been pretty good at holding her head since birth, but we definitely still support it - especially when she is tired, then she get's lazy!
Having lunch with a girlfriend today! Lots on this week too, actually really feel like a day at home...
-
Hi all,
This is the first time I've been on BB in about two weeks. Having two children is a shock to the system I can tell ya! I'm exhausted by about 3pm. Trying to get them both to take a sleep around the same time is a challenge, sometimes it works but mostly one is awake whilst the other is asleep.
Parramatta Park meet-up: Ursula I sent you an SMS yesterday to confirm details. KateP - it will be really nice to meet you! Basically once you get to the park, you can only go through it in one direction. The cafe is about 2/3 of the way around. You can't miss it really, it's near the river and has toilets attached to it. KateP I have your mobile number I think from Nicole's list so I will SMS you so that you have my number aswell.
Nic - Sorry you can't be there! Not sure what happened to you at the park as I've only scanned this four pages but I can guess'ish! AND I completely understand only doing one thing a day, that's all I can manage if that!!
I saw that parenting advisor I was talking about and she gave me some great advice for managing the two children and getting them into a routine. Talking to her really helped me to understand the stage my eldest is going through at the moment plus it was good to hear we are all normal and I'm a good mum!!
Baby Harry is a chiller which is awesome. I can lay him on his play mat and he'll fall asleep. Emily was never able to do that, but then I wasn't as relaxed as I am this time around! First time mum and all that.
It's been hot this past few days and I think Harry has *****ly heat?! I've been wearing him in the HAB a lot and I think that might have caused it!
-
kim - james has pulled a jasmine today. has only slept 5 hours in total since midnight! gah! little rat!!!
i even put the new HAB on DH to try the tying... and james spewed all over dh's chest and the inside of the freshly washed HAB.... just part of the many fun and games occurring in my house today.
bah!
so, 26th, is this at the piazza? i'll have my mum up, is she invited too?
Qu: for HAB users... did you find it hard to do at first and did your babies like it? how many attempts did it take?
Qu2: do you find that your babies spew randomly or do you see a pattern?
-
Yep logan piazza Vivienne.. and your mum is more than welcome to come! Hope James sleeps really well for you tonight.
Claire - Glad to hear things are going well with you - I admire you ladies who have more than one to manage... I'd love to do it all again, but I honestly don't know how I would manage with more than one. I suppose it's different with subsequent babies also, I know I dote alot on Rochelle and I suppose I wouldn't have the time to if I had two. High five for coping so well all you subsequent baby Mums!
Peta - Glad you had a good night out with the gals last night... I was invited to a friend's 30th just before and I had to decline because I can't really leave Rochelle at home even if Dan was to stay home with her because of the BF'ing thing - I mean I could express, but then i'd have the issue of not emptying my breasts and then i'd probably leak everywhere and it all just seems too hard! Geez.. I'm glad your hossy told you about cleaning bubs belly button... wish they had freaking told us! We even had to get cream from the Drs once it fell off because it looked a bit sore.
Have you guys decided what your buying bub for Christmas?
-
Afternoon everyone,
Head - Tiera has been holding her head since birth, but holds it up for a lot longer periods now. When I am sitting on the lounge with her on my chest she likes to hold her head up and look out the window.
Dummies - I use Avent dummies and Avent bottles, breast pump and sterrilizer. I find their products to be fantastic! I found some other brands of dummies, the teat was too fat for such a little mouth.
Tiera seems to be on the mend. Her poos are going back to the mustard colour, slowly but surely. The community nurse will be back on Tues, so hopefully what ever she's had will be out of her system and she will have put on weight. I'm really scared what she may suggest if Tiera hasn't put on any weight! Do you think she may suggest I give up Breast feeding??? That is what I am most worried about... I'm not ready to stop feeding her!
Qu - For the ladies who had stitchers.... Do you still have pain weeks later??? I am finding hard chair are extreamly painful when I am sitting on the (at Cafe's etc), but hrs later I am in terrible pain. I can't sit or stand, I take a panadol and when possible I go straight to bed. Toiletting is also rather painful. I'm just not sure if all of this is normal?!
Have a great afternoon! :)
-
Viv James ans Jasmine must be communicating today...cos she has been awake since her 11am feed and wont sleep, keeps spewing thru her bed. Changed her clothes 2 times already and need to again now. Just washed all her sheets that were clean on yesterday. Arghhhh!!
Tiff i have no problems where my stitches were, no pain or anything. Perhaps get it checked out.
-
Maddi has been so unsettled today, this hot weather is really taking a toll on her.
Tomorrow is suppose to be even hotter what fun.
For the Vic Meet-up, do you ladies want to meet-up at a Park, lake, Beach or Cafe & how far is everyone willing to travel?
Cath no idea on what to buy Maddi, she has everything she needs right now & she's not that interested in toys yet.
Kim what are you doing for Chelsea's 1st b'day?
-
hey
the stitches thing, mine have dissolved now and it does feel a little different but no pain where they were. although i do have some pain in my urethra(wee hole sorry to be graphic) feels like a bruise when i go to the loo??? anyone alse???
where is the logan piazza??? me and lachie might be there although mondays are craigs day off so might be doing family stuff. see how i go:)
-
Only tender bit where stitches are can be found DTD..so just choose careful possies...but dont hurt....i dont mind it..just lil tender.
Mo im willing to travel any where. Try see if we can make it pram friendly...i think a park would be nice...shady area. All i can think of outdoors could be a bit warm on bubbys?
Tuesday is ment to be 35 Mo...ouchy!
For Chelsea's birthday she is having 3 parties. One next weekend for her VIC friends, then on the 1st Dec one at Mums and then 2nd Dec is one at IL's. Her biggest party is one at mums.
-
Hey Pish, Ihave had no pain really since day 2 this time, but with DS I got a third degree tear and was in pain for several weeks. I think it depends on how bad your tear is.If it gets worse tho, something may be infected so Id get it checked out!
-
Had a wedding last night, Lualla slept like a log most of the time, had her in the sling carving up the dance floor, she loved it! She's not tired and grumpy but i am! LOL Early night tonight.
HAB took a while to get the hang of. For all of us! Now if she is a little unsettled it is harder to get her in, but once she relaxes it is ok. Getting the tension right is tricky, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. She loves it. But i have copped a few cleavage spews!
Re spewing, no pattern i can see sometimes alot, othertimes not at all....... wish i could work out why.
I am happy to meet anywhere, outside park/beach would prob suit those with toddlers better. We will go anywhere. what about you Mo?
Prob wont get much for Luella for chrissy, everyone else is going to spoil her and we dont need to accumulate 'stuff' at the moment as we only have to move it. And she will be only 3 months old after all. Something little, not sure what.
Stitches- i didn't really have any pain associated with them.
sorry, feeling lazy, can't remember all the other posts!
-
The Piazza is at the Logan Hyperdome....Its part of there new outdoors area.
Re: Christmas - We are buying Rhys a Jolly Jumper not that he can use it yet and a power plus swing and another cot set!! We have the Kids Line Constuction Zone cause DH is a truck mechanic/driver so he chose it and I want to get the Leap Frog one as well for a change of scenery for Rhys when he is in there.
-
Man, I am SO fortunate I didn't tear... sounds nasty guys... sorry to hear! I didn't have any trauma (besides actually giving birth) down there and yet i'm still scared DTD willl hurt... The MW wanted me to put a finger in when I was in the shower when she was having home visits with us - but I wasn't game too.
Rochelle is getting a jolly jumper too... and will have to buy her a whole heap more clothes because she just about doesn't fit into all the stuff we have for her.. and we have *****loads... so much of it hasn't even been worn! Luckily my SIL is having a little girl next March. Here Daniel and I were worried that it was all going to be too big for her when I was pg... how wrong we were!
Angela - How awesome is that, that you were carving it up on the dance floor... I can only imagine how much fun last night was!
I'm the same with Ro spewing, sometimes she has really big spews.. other times just a little spit up and sometimes nothing at all. CHN said it's because we aren't spending enough time burping and she is obviously getting pockets of wind under a feed and she's trying to bring up a burp and brings up any milk on top of it. Well thats how she explained it to me... So as I said earlier - we are now taking more time to burp often during feeds.
Kate - will Craig come along with you? Otherwise we can change to another day...
-
girls are any of your partners coming along??? craig will come if there is other guys, but if not can we change the day??? best days for me is tues through saturday. sorry to be a bother
-
Kate, I don't think Danny will be home - he will probably be out at work, but if he is home he will probably come. But anyways, a change of date is easy...
How about the 27th of November then? That's the Tuesday.
-
Brissy/GC gals - Either 26th or 27th after 10 is fine with me. Not too familiar with the Hyperdome, but can work on the details. DH says it for us girls so he won't be coming.
Think the stiches have gone, haven't checked recently. No pain, swelling or bruising, still bleeding.
Haven't thought yet about chrissy pressies for L. Dilemma - be to practical and get stuff he needs or some luxury items????? Do want to get a special decoration for the tree. Don't normally decorate the house at Xmas, but with a child will make the effort. Also, now should do a letter or card with the family photo.
Family get together went well. L behaved himself. My 1 year old niece has grown so big. Realise it won't be all that long until L is that size.
-
Hi BB,
Thanks for the feedback on the NUK dummies. I agree on the price!!! I only use them for mega festy times so we won't lose them but they are still $$$! Will try to go to the Happy Baby when she is bigger.
A does not look at me yet when feeding she either closes her eyes or stares at something, she does hold my pinky though - too cute :)
I went out with her in the pouch the other day and se slept the whole time, I am getting the hang of it.
My first trip to preschool by myself tomorrow. I am using DH's car as he has a capsule - I just have a turned around seat. Hoping to keep her in the capsule, covered with muslin. Bet we are at least 1/2 hr late LOL!
Have not comtemplated DTD yet even though I have no pain, I am still having spotting and I am so tired I can't be bothered. Not looking forward to the post natal check as I need a Pap Test but guess it has to be done. I don't have a girly bits doctor here yet so am going to one recommended by my Middy. Not real comfy with our male family doctor going there IYKWIM.
Bit of celeb goss - my family doctor is the brother of Peter Morrisey (fashion dude) amd husband of Marcia Hines LOL!
For Xmas we got Amara a cloth dolly that can go in the wash. Eliza wants a yellow frisbee and a slushie maker HA!! Where that came from I have no idea.....
Night,
-
Morning everyone!
Not looking forward to today, it is going to be 37 degrees, yuck! I used to love hot weather, but with a baby it is so horrible. Keiran wouldn't settle after his 6pm feed yesterday, I think it was a combination of being so hot and that MIL came over. He seems unsettled when there is a lot of activity going on during his sleep time. Luckily he slept really well overnight, but wouldn't settle after his 6am feed until about 5 minutes ago! He went 5 hours between feeds for two nights in a row now which is great.
Tiff - I would get checked out by a dr to be on the safe side, but from memory you had an episiotomy? I'm guessing you would feel more pain for longer after having one. I haven't had any probs with my stitches and I'm guessing they are well and truly gone. Luckily I only had a first degree tear this time.
Saffi - Glad the settling technique worked. It is still working really well for us. The MCHN said that it feels like forever that they are crying while you settle them, but if you time it on your watch it is usually only a minute or two. I tried that theory out and she was right! He usually only takes about 20-30 seconds now.
Leah - Wow, your doctor sounds facinating! Does he have any stories to tell? It's great when you can have a (kind-of) claim to fame! Our house was built by Kylie Minogue's grandparents and our neighbours who built next door tell us that she and Danni used to run around the back yard when they were little. So that's our claim!
Re: Christmas pressies, I have NO idea what to get Kieran. We so don't need any more toys. Maybe something boring like clothes. Amelia and Catherine - Jolly Jumpers are a great present, I'm sure your bubs will love them!
-
Morning ladies!
Thanx for the advise. Trish I tore, I had 3 deg tear... YUK! I have the comm nurse coming again tomorrow so I'm going to let her know and see what she recommends.
Chrissy prezzies - Tiera will be getting toys (toys for car and a few roll toys etc), jolly jumper, play gym, books, etc. I know she is going to get REALLY spoilt for grandparents, aunties uncles and great grand parets, so I'm trying not to go over board! Tiera has sooooooo much clothing from people buying her prezzies. I only bought her about 3 suits, but she has so much I honestly dont need to buy a thing for the next 6-8 months. People have even given us bigger winter clothes! Spoilt little girl!!! ;)
Had a good couple of nights on our own. DH doesn't even stir when I get up to her! lol
Have a great day!
-
Vic Meet-up i was thinking Rickett's Point Beachside Café
It has a web page if you ladies wanna look it up.
But it's right on the beach, has a BBQ, gardens & it's on this side of town.
Are we bringing partners along?
Maddi & i had crappy night, she didn't sleep for longer than 2 hours at a time & i don't think today will be much better.
-
just quickly...
today's question: what are your burping techniques and your collection of burping positions with which you have the most success. i'm thinking little gas-pig needs some more help.
-
Hi Ladies,
Christmas pressies - still have no idea! Might get her some sort of toy thingy that they sit in and play, not too sure what they are called... not going to go too overboard though, cause I'm sure everyone else will... I am definitely getting a santa photo though!
Viv - Tahlias best burping position is probably sitting upright on my lap with my hand under her chin, or over the shoulder also works well too
Tahlia and I had a bad night last night, fed her at 8.30 and she wouldn't settle, kept crying, so I finally gave in and got her dummy, which put her to sleep! It looked so huge on her little face! Then she woke for another feed at 11.45, and then didnt fall back asleep till 3 am! I was crying from exhaustion, she was relatively happy as long as I was holding her, as soon as I put her down she cried, and the dummy didnt work. I was too scared to hold her in the rocking chair cause I was falling asleep from being so tired and I was scared I would drop her! She has been better this morning though, she has gone back to sleep straight away after each feed so I took advantage of it, and slept until 11.30! I still feel really tired though
Vic meetup - I dont live anywhere near the cafe suggested, but I'm willing to travel seeing I'm the only one over this side. What dates were we thinking? A weekend or a week day?
-
Hey everyone. It has been a while since I got on here but I just wanted to say hi and to let you all know that I am still here.
We got back to Cloncurry on Saturday afternoon. Caitlyn did really well on the 8 hour car trip - slept most of the way - which is more than I can say for today - she has maybe slept 1/2 hour since her 6 am feed. Just cant seem to settle her!
Anyway - she is turning a little red in the face right now so I had better go and see what I can do! But I am at my wits end I am sure.
-
Any day besides the 3/12 is good for me!! 3/12 I have my 6 week check up and I have to do my follow up glucose test!!
