Hello!!!
Sorry I haven't been on for a while, computer meltdown!!!!
Erin ~ Glad you like the Peanut Shell! Its really been a life saver for us. I find it hard to hold Seven over my shoulder for very long due to my back injury and the fact that she is a fatty boomba!! The peanut shell allows me to carry her for so much longer without getting achy, and she settles right down - except for last night when Daddy tried to use it and she thought it was time to play!
Mumma ~ Wow!! And I thought Seven gained weight quickly! Good on you and whatever you are doing, continue doing it. I personally attribute Seven's good weight gain to my chocolate eating habits!!! LOL
Captain ~ Yeah Seven likes her baths to calm her down too. So if, tonight, she is still awake at midnight, guess whose getting a bath then!!!
Candy ~ Please don't say you failed at breast feeding. You gave it a go, and from the looks of it, you are still trying. Erin is right, the first priority is to get your baby fed, who gives a blue wazoo how you do it. You will feel better in the fact knowing that you are looking after your baby. I work in a hospital and we are all go go go breastfeeding, but I tell my Mums "if it's not going to work for you, so what?" Good on you for continuing expressing, I can only imagine how tiring that must be for you.
A peanut shell is an all in one fabric sling that sits OVER your shoulder and baby fits nice and snuggly inside. You can lay them down, wear them sitting up facing you, facing out, on your back and, when they are a toddler it is great to support that huge bundle on your hip! Oh, and you can breastfeed in it too. We use ours every night to help settle Seven to sleep. They are magical!!!
Hi Indie and anyone else who has popped in but hasn't posted yet!!!
Seven is growing like a weed! Stays awake from about 11-2am the past 5 nights, and has a very very gurgly tummy but we are trying to combat that with Brauers Stomach Calm and Infants Friend. Seems to be working, she is able to fart and bring up her wind so much better now!
Speak of the little Madam, I hear her grunting for me! Better run.
Love & Hugs!!!!!
Hello! Finally sticking my head in here, while waiting for Matthew to wake up. I just know that if I put my head down, that will be the minute he will want me.
Anyone else bleeding heavily still? Hoping it will start to ease off soon.
Looking forward to catching up properly once the mist of exhaustion starts to lift. :)
Yep!!! i am Kerry, although after my CS with my first son i bled like a period for 3 friggen months!!!
But this time its not quite as bad, but i am still using the HUGE maternity pads!
Nath is going well, seems a bit windy so i have cut out all the chocolate and caffine out and am eating to the strict lactation diet so hopefully that helps a bit.
He still wants to sleep with me every night and is breast feeding like a friggen champ! Please dont hate me anyone that is having a little trouble - but i still cant beleive how easy and wonderfully this has come to us. Still no problems or supply/nipple issues... or am i nieve and is it yet to come!
i am going to ABA meet ups to help support me in this, and to also keep going with it! i want to do it for at least 2 years!
WEll sweets, must head off, got to get the kidlets ready to go to the supermarket - wow thats fun now.
Take care and hope you are all have lovely milky nights with your beautiful babes!
Hi Ladies,
Had my appt with the hospital lactation consultants and they agreed to try medication to increase my supply thank fully, so I started it today. I also double pump on the expressing machine now, DH thinks I'm like a milking station... good way to put him off haha
Turns out that both Madeleine & I have thrush which has been causing us all the issues with latching, the severe pain in my breasts, fever & headaches, so we both have started treatment although it doesn't seem to agree with Madeleine to much.
Kbowman, I was around that time, its almost stopped now, so hopefully it will be the same for you.
Calebsmum, thanks for your kind words, it's pretty tough this BF & you can really feel the pressure but at least there is plenty of support, if this medication doesn't work well I wont feel bad as I did all I could.
Better run, she has just woken up, take care everyone
Good morning everyone
CJ, that's good news that you've found the problem. Hopefully the treatments will work and you'll be able to bf.
Mummatotwo, having to cut out chocolate!!! That's what I look forward to each night, though maybe that's why Ashlyn doesn't like sleeping in the evenings.
Kerry, yep still bleeding here too. I actually thought it had stopped and then wham, it started again. Can't wait till it's finished (neither can DH, lol!)
Kell, how are the night wakings going? It's so exhausting being awake at night while everyone else is snoring away. Do you get much sleep during the day?
Eej, how's the peanut shell going? I've got a sling but haven't used it much yet, just trying to be careful after the c-section. Think I'm ready to really get into it now though.
Ashlyn is doing well. We have a visit with the health nurse today. She'll be here in an hour and both the girls are fast asleep. Danielle still needs to get up and dressed and have breakfast! We've had a bit of a stressful week though. MIL had major heart surgery on Tuesday. She's doing well though and should be out of intensive care today. But unfortunately my Gran had a heart attack and passed away yesterday. She was nearly 90 so it wasn't unexpected, but still feeling a little down. Poor Danielle is still not entirely understanding what's happened. She was asking if the ambulance was going to bring her back.
Hope everyone is doing well and starting to get some sleep!
that could be it!!
I found nath would have lots of wind and be unsettled a little bit, now that i have cut it out i saw an improvement within maybe 2 days?
Hi Ladies!
Kerry ~ After DS I bled for a full 12 weeks and it was ridiculous. It was like a constant period! Found out it was due to retained products. Still spotting on the odd occasion and Seven is now 6 weeks old - OMG - but it is easing up. Matthew is only 2 weeks old, so it should start to ease up for you soon!
MT2 ~ I cut out caffiene and some other things from my diet as well, and cut back on the chocolate - I can't quite give that up!!! We are using a combination of Infants Friend and Brauers Stomach Calm with Seven before every feed and it is really working wonders! She isn't as grumpy now and easily brings up her wind and farts!!!! Don't feel bad for succeeding at BF! Congratulations!!!
Candy ~ Glad you have got some things to try to help with your supply. I am crossing my fingers it works for you!!!
Captain ~ Seven is still sleeping in bed with me, and we are now feeding 3hrly overnight, and most of the time we are both still asleep when it happens! Hooray! We started getting Seven off to sleep in a different room of the house then once she is asleep, she and I head off to bed and snuggle in together and for the past 2 nights she has stayed in bed, happily sleeping and feeding until morning! So hopefully this continues to work for us!! So sorry to hear about your Gran. May she rest in peace.
Everyone else I missed, I am sorry but Hello!
Love & Hugs and Baby Snuggles!!!
Hi ladies,
Please excuse my lack of capitals i am typing one handed while i pump.
Captain- Sorry about your Gran and your mil. the peanut shell is great, really good for doing things hands free.
CJ- I'm glad ur getting the meds. It good to try everything. i double pump sometimes, you do end up feeling a bit like a milking cow  when i pump dh sings "pump, pump the cans" to the tune of pump the jam! its pretty funny.
kerry- good to see you in here.
Well i am loving weekends... DH has decided he will do the night feeds (one good thing about expressing) while i sleep! Its been so nice.
One thing thats not nice is my clothes not fitting, i had to go out and buy some bigger things. its very disheartening. i have been walking but will have to do lots more.
Just stopping in quickly while Molly naps. We are going great guns here. My In-laws have been here since I had my c-section and they finally went home today. While I loved all the help I was gettinng its also nice to be home alone. My mum had been here for nearly 3 weeks before I gave birth so we haven't had the house to ourselves in so long. But in saying that this will be the first night we are home alone and I am a little nervous :)
Molly developed thrush from me taking antibiotics or I gave it to her :). So we are currently trying to break the reinfection cycle that happens while BFing. I think we may finally be winning. Molly's attachment has improved and BF doesn't feel so bad now.
Molly has been sleeping well. She feeds 4 hourly but overnight that can stretch out to 5 hours.
I am feeling much better after my c-section and can feel my energy comin back. We actually have been out a few times for walks around the block. The first time I took Molly out there was a slight wind and I had to laugh at how uncertain she looked about it all.
Oh dear my Mollycat is calling me. Sorry for lack of personals but I will be back :)
Donna, I'm jealous, 5 hours of sleep at nights sounds wonderful. We were feeding every 3 hrs, day and night, but last night Ashlyn decided that she would go every 2 hours. I'm exhausted and to top it off she hardly woken up today so I'm a bit worried about what's going to happen tonight!
Eej, ROFL about the song. That's pretty funny. I'm with you on the clothes situation. I've got to go shopping on Tuesday to get something to wear to Gran's funeral. I've got nothing but maternity gear at the moment.
Question, how much do your bubs wake up for. I really can't seem to get Ashlyn to wake up for very long. I know she is only little and she just hit her due date yesterday, but she only seems to wake up for a feed and nappy change and then she's back to sleep.
Quite normal for minimal awake time.
During the 3 week mark that all changes though. And bubs wakes more and says "hello world"
Hi ladies.
Had a shocking start to our night here last night. Seven screamed, and I mean screamed for almost 2 hours until she finally passed out at almost 1am. Her wind pain was so severe last night I was in tears because my little baby girl had tears! But then she slept for 3 hrs and fed, then went back to sleep again so I am thankful it hasn't carried on into the day. I am just praying that it doesn't happen again tonight. Why is wind pain always worse for bubs at night, its horrid!
Captain ~ Your little on will start having more awake time soon! It's perfectly normal in the first few weeks for them to sleep and feed and thats it! I understand though, so many ppl said to me "does she actually have eyes?" stupid question but you know what I mean!!!
About the feeding - Seven has been a 2hr baby since birth. During the night she usually goes 3hrs, but during the day shes feeding 2hrly still. I don't mind, as long as she gives me a bigger break on my wedding day so I don't have to undo my dress so much! LOL
Better run, the piglet is squirming!
Love and Hugs!!!
Hi girls finally got here!!!!
Won't be for long little Princess has made her presence known, due for another feed.
Kell, I am afraid of that 6 week mark and the screaming for hours on end, the Bauers stuff does ease it a bit, but.......
Kerry, just keep an eye on the bleeding if it gets smelly, get it checked out:rolleyes: I mean can smell you before you walk into a room type of thing!!!!! I am still slightly bleeding at 3 weeks.
Girls good luck with thte BF sounds like you are doing well with the expressing and catching up. I am so disappointed, Poppy attatches well and sucks like a gem, no sore nipples, just can't get my supply up, the only time I don't have to comp is at night where she is happy to feed from me soley, maternal health nurse thinks I have little chance of coming back from here given y prevuiouns track record!!!! Maybe I will get to 6-8weeks were her words of wisdom, after I asked the ? how long?????? So making the most of it while we can, maybe she will continue to use me for comfort alah dummy style.
Anyway sorry for lack of personals not enough hours in a day or days in a week, and worse when DH goes back to work, straight into a 12 hour/7day shut at the power station!!!!:o OOOOOHHHHHHH going to be tough, lets hope I get super organized quickly!!!!
Pam, have you gone onto the ABA website and spoken to anyone there? I found them brilliant with little bits of advice, and i have started to go to meets with them all.
I found the best way to keep supply up is feed, feed feed! no dummies, bottles etc. But i guess you probably have already tried that.
I hope it gets better for you.
Nath is having seperation anxiety from me already, i cant put him down at all.
he RARELY sleeps alone, has to be on one of us, very difficult when i want to use his sleep time to play with my other tot.
Blake is handling his little brother very well, just kisses, then cuddles then walks away and doesnt pay too much attention, i have noticed as time goes on and Blake's confidence improves around him that he gets a little hands on. But we have to let the two of them bond i guess.
I tried using a hug-a-bub today, they are brilliant! I borrowed one of Sunshine_sabian, and i have to go out and get one!! Is anyone else co-sleeping?
Typing one handed cause Ashlyn is having a sleep so please excuse the bad typing.
Mumma, noe I'm not co-sleeping cause DH is way to heavy a sleeper. I'd have to kick him out of bed and we ust don't have any where ese for him to sleep. But I do have her in the bassinet next to me. I have't tried my HAB yet, can't wait to use it.
Pam,I know how you feel about DH going back to work. I'm really not sure ow Im going to manage when he's away. Might be a few meals of baked beans, lol.
Kell, poor Seven. that wind pin is horrible. Ashlyn had a bit last night, she was actually going purple around her lips before letting out a massve burp!
Well Ashlyn seems to be waking a lttle more. Though unfortunately it was more during the night. Hoping she sleeps a bit more tonight. Went clothes shopping today it's hard to find clothes that are suitable for BF and covers the saggy belly!!! I'm really looking forward to getting the all clear to start some exerise!
Hello to everyone I've missed. Hope everyone is well:)
Morning ladies, jumping on here before my little one decides to wake in a few minutes.
Mumma, i'm not co-sleeping but Madeleine seems to fight to sleep unless she's in my arms, so I seem to put her to sleep with her in my arms & then transfer her to her bassinette afterwards, although last night I sleep with her like that for the whole time before the next feed. The maternal health nurse isn't impressed but I know she's there & don't move an inch.
Indie, sorry to here Molly has thrush, hope it clears up soon, it''s pretty horrible for them to have. I'm trying to find a natural product to help Madeleine as I don't like how the medication makes her spew & gag.
Blackdukies, I was also freaked about DH going back to work & he's been back for a week & a half, hopefully your DH can help out during the evening or early morning. My DH was up doing a feed at 5.30 which is helpful but he comes home late after work wrecked.
Captain, I'm with you, I really can't wait to start exercising as the extra weight & saggy belly doesn't make me feel to great.
Calebsmum, Madeleine to has really bad wind at night, usually when DH is feeding her, she screamed for well about 2 hours last night, it's pretty tough when you see them have tears & you can't do anything. I've started Madeleine on the Brauers mix only at that time & sending her to sleep on my chest on her stomach (of course i'm awake during the tummy sleeping) it seemed to help & she brought up a heap of wind.
Me, my daughter has gone to spend a few nights with my mother, this infection has really made me sick as a dog & I can't find the energy to entertain her. Besides that, everything is reasonably well. I'm hoping to get well soon as I really want to get out of the house as i'm going stir crazy. Is anyone thinking of going to mothers group? I never went with DD as I went back to work so wondering when you start
Hi Ladies,
Thought I'd pop on briefly.
Sorry this is going to be a 'me' post again.
Went to the Child and Youth Health Centre yesterday to speak to someome, don't know why I bothered really. She said Seven probably suffers a bit from reflux as well as colic - gee, coz I hadn't already figured that out for myself. She suggested Mylanta, and to stick with it for a few days to see if that helps. So, we are now on Mylanta every second feed, and Brauers Colic Relief every other feed too. She screamed again for ages last night and finally we collapsed into bed together. I am SO tired and run down. Seven was attached to me all Monday and Yesterday and I hope I get just a bit of respite today, the house needs so much done and DS has a friend coming over at 12!
Candy ~ No Maternal Health nurse will be impressed if you tell them you are co-sleeping with your baby but I just told mine that this is what we are doing, and it works and you can't stop me. DF and I are into AP as well and we don't like controlled crying, and all the Child and Youth Health Ppl think that we are wrong in that too. All I say is, you do what you feel is right for you, your child and your family and don't let anyone else tell you differently.
Anyway, Im off to make my first cuppa of the day, I only just got up after lying in bed with Seven a bit longer today.
Love & Hugs to all.
