Babies Born September 1st ~ 15th 2008 #2

hi everyone! glad to hear everyone had a nice valentine's day! i love reading what you're all up to but don't get much time to post in here. I'm having a great time on the location thread and have met belly belliers who live within 20 minutes or so of me, some over the border and some not - YAY! There's about 4 of us now and someone even has a baby 2 weeks younger then Liberty. So exciting. However it does look like we're going to be moving to Brisbane so I'm really upset, just after I finally start getting a bit of a social life around here. Never mind, I'll always have you guys!!

stimulus package is going towards more mcns haha and I jinxed myself with the cushie tushies. They all seem to be slightly different fits and I do have one that leaks as it doesn't fit right around the legs. Drats.

Liberty is going to the ob dr tomorrow as I am really concerned about her doing the whole breath-holding thing where she stops breathing for 15-20 seconds just randomly as though she's forgotten how to breathe. Ususally she's choking with the reflux but sometimes there's no cause. And thanks to some other idiotic dr i stopped the zantac for the reflux and now she's waking up 15 times or so a night AGHHHHH. So I've started it up again.

How long does it take for a tooth to erupt from the first signs of a bump appearing? A day or two? Or does it take longer? Does Bonjela make much of a difference? I haven't tried any on Matthew yet. But he's been terribly grizzly today, poor little fellow.

I would give the bonjella a try. I use the curash one, and it works well more often then not. Ash pulls the funniest face when I put it on him though :)
Also if he will drink from a bottle or cup hylands teething tablets are supposed to be great, Ash wont have anything but boobie though so I haven't tried them personally.

I just want to say ladies how lucky we are we all get along and what a great group of girls we have here. I've been reading some other threads and ppl get really nasty. Its very sad. PPl can't seem to handle others thinking differently than they do, letting them have an opinion that is differnt to their own. So on this Valentines day just want to say ....Love you girls!!!

Everything is good here, Ashtons 2nd tooth is almost through so he has been cranky but we had a lovely weekend away!

Thanks for the rose, Mel! I haven't tried a bottle with Matthew since Christmas because it was another non-event and I've been too disheartened to give it another go - it seems such a waste of time to be sterilising bottles, etc. I may try the bonjella tomorrow as he seems to be getting more and more fretful.

Lauren, hope that Liberty is okay and that the Zantac helps. I'd be worried too about the breath holding. Let us know how you go tomorrow!

Lee!! Lovely to have you back! Were you camping during that really hot spell? Matthew is a bit like Remy with the rolling over on to the tummy and just staying there. He's happy for a little while but then he gets frustrated and that's it. All over, red rover.

I tried Matthew in one of those bath seats today but it wasn't too successful so I cut the bath short and then I must have caught his legs lifting him out because he really got upset. I ended up giving him another bath and got in with him again. He liked that.

I also stayed up way too late last night putting together a Bright Sparks bounce, bounce baby stationary walker. Getting the seat fabric in was the hardest part. I don't recommend it for that. It's supposed to be for babies 4 months + but they need to be sitting unassisted. Matthew's not quite ready but enjoyed short "sits" in it today.

Lauren - I am in Brisbane newly arrived Aug 08 so if you need some friendly faces I am willing to meet up. Xavier was born 28th Sept. He is also on Zantac. Started at 4wks old. I tried to cut it out beg Jan but he was so unsettled he went straight back on it and it took a week for it to kick back in. Now he is up once a night which is so much better than hourly!!!

Kerry - I so understand the whole bottle thing Xavier wont have one either. In fact I have tried every bottle and teat on the market and now I have donated my stash to the Bushfire appeal as he was not showing any sign of latching on to them.

Kerry I think its the same one I have, with the 3 button 'piano' and the seesaw and activity bar with the bounce mat under and the seat turns right the way around??
I got mine a couple of months ago and Ash is only JUST starting to like playing in it. He always fell forward in the seat but it will be well worth your money when Matthew starts to play in it :) I have found it a saviour for hanging washing out or having a quick shower, knowing he is safe and entertained :) I just brought a Safety 1st one that is a big red car and he LOVES that one :) Bath seats... CRAP! I just brought Ash one and he just falls back and nackers himself.

I have to agree with eej this is a great group of girls and I often talk about you all, sometimes people think it is strange to be so friendly with a group of people who I have'nt met but they just don't get it. I rarely give rep points, so don't think I don't value advice etc, just find that I don't like that type of system, I think a lot of it depends on where you post etc. So in general don't hand them out. But at the same time activated mine...must go with my need to feel loved;)they actually do my head in.:wall:

Poppy rolled over completely the other day, she had been rolling but had her arm stuck, so all the way there except for that but now she has fixed that problem, now she is getting grumpy and lets me know when she is stuck also. It is making her into a little grumpy monkey, just very frustrating to find yourself stuck all the time I guess?? Teeth look well on their way, but just won't pop through. Who knows how much longer that will take.:rolleyes:
Anyway must go the girl is awake, catch up soon.

Packing madly whenever Matthew's asleep (he's keeping me on my toes today) and I have taken the dog to her new home for the next month. Will chat from Hong Kong, promise!

Mel, yes, that's the stationary walker that we've got. It seems pretty good - did you have trouble putting it together though? Matthew's not turning around in his yet, I turn him so that he can drool all over the different toys. :p I'll keep my eye out for the red car!

Jo, tell me about the bottles and teats! I'm sure someone will be grateful for them though.

Pam, tell your sister that Hong Kong is great and definitely the place to go! My mother and stepfather love it there, they were also over at a university city near Beijing a few years back. HK is much better, according to Mum, mainly for the lifestyle. Go Poppy with the rolling! I've been wondering how long these teeth will take to show up too. One book I was looking at said it could be overnight or take weeks. Arghh!

Hi ladies, sorry advanced warning, this is going to be a me post.

I just found out something today (and no I can't really go into it) that means not only have my hopes of resigning being squashed, but I may now have to go back to work early. I was really hoping to be able to spend more time with Ashlyn. I'm trying to organize things so that the girls don't have to go into daycare. I'm lucky I guess that I work a flexable job, it is shift work but the shifts are 10hrs and sometimes overtime. It's really strange because I was thinking how I would miss work, but now I have to go back I don't want to go. Argh, I don't know what to do or how I'm feeling right now. DH has had to go to work so I'm sitting here with a bucket of cookie dough waiting for him to get back.

Captain ~ I am in EXACTLY the same position hunny. I was hoping to be able to stay away from going back to work indefinitely but now the time has come. I am just not ready to leave Seven behind. Ive bitten the bullet though and booked in for my CPR refresher so that I can do some night shifts with the agency but I will not leave her more than 2 nights a week, more for me than her.
I honestly don't know how DH will cope either. Seven still BF's lot overnight so I don't know how she will cope with bottles, or how he will cope with her if she gets upset.
I have been having sleep issues and panic attacks all in relation to going back to work.
I feel for you, and I am sorry it has come to this.

i have been missing in action the last week or two with flying home to ireland its been so good catching up with every one at home and showing off Eireann.

i think eireann is taking after me she is still fitting in to 000 she should be heading in to 6 to 9 months :lol: but I'm not worried as she is not skinny and feeds lots just small like her mammy
i got her a little bottle the Tommy tippy one and she drank about 2 ounces pleased with that might get out for a night yet!

Lauren what did the doc say about the breath holding, if eireann does it i gently blow in her face and it makes them take a breath.

Hey there, Niamh! How was the flight to Ireland? I'm taking Matthew to HK tomorrow and hoping that I'll manage okay on my own. I bet everyone is spoiling Eireann, the little cutie!!

Kell and Tenille, I was wondering who else was heading back to work soon. I start back full time at the end of April and thinking I really should have asked if I could return part time. Be wonderful to have been able to afford to take 12 months off but that's a pipedream under the current circumstances. Sigh.

Today's newsflash: Matthew's first tooth is just poking through now! Drool city. :lol:

I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everybody. The last few weeks have been a little hectic here and hopefully once things calm down I can hang out here more. I just wanted to add that I agree this is a great little thread with lots of friendly people. :)

Kell- Yay SOOOO glad your back!!!!!! We haven't heard from Nat B and Emmerson for a while or Jen and Nathan (m2two) either.
Love the pics of the MCNs on FB. I just got an email from my lady saying they sent her the wrong closures so they are sending the right ones asap!

Lauren posted this on my FB wall today "hey can't get onto the forum atm, not sure why. apparently the breath holding thing is "normal" for reflux and i should only worry if she turns blue or purple... ?!?! It could be to do with her formula and reflux? Liberty screamed down the drs surgery (she really wasn't having a good day) and so it was kind of hard to hear the dr. he walked around the centre with me while I tried calming her down as i had so many questions to ask him and i was upset that i'd finally gotten in to see him and she cracked it big time. so i'm trying to breastfeed more and am trying to get in to see him again when she's 6 months so in a week or so. talk soon"


Kerry- Leaving tomorrow...how exciting! I hope you have an awesome trip! I hope his tooth coming through makes him feel better! No signs of teeth for Em yet.

Captain and Kell- That's a shame you guys have to go back to work. I still have 3 months of paid leave but I don't really want to go back either. DH wants to take his long service and stay home but I'm not prepared to go back full time and be away from Emily.


Lee- thanks for popping back in and letting us know you are ok. I understand its hard to get on, I am jsut addicted to my laptop so I am on ALL the time... makes my Dh cross!

Pam- Yeah I had to unsubscribe to a thread in th news section cause it was getting me down. I'd like to keep my blinkers on and think BB is a wholly friendly place! YAY Poppy!

Well I have had the mother guilts after Emily slipped out of my hands and off the lounge and then yest she rolled into the TV unit and hit her head. Oh man she screamed and screamed both times! I felt so bad. She has leanrt to spin on ehr tummy, its very cute.

And on the feeding front I am thinking I will stop taking the motilium after this lot of pills run out. I'm not sure how good it is to keep taking them so I guess that means my supply will drop and I'll jsut keep pumping til I run out of milk, I'm hoping it will take a little while for me to dry up. I'm really torn tho I'd hoped I ould keep pumping at least until I went back to work but I don't think I can keep my supply up with out meds. I know ppl can but I have gotten used to only pumping 3 times a day and getting enough. I don't want to give up yet tho!
We are going to start some baby led solids soon too.

eej, as much as we would like for it to not happen accidents do happen, but I do understand the feeling guilty about it...I remember a girl who a few months back was extremely worried about not being a good mum, I wonder who that was??? She is sounding like an excetionally good one to me!!!;) I reckon you will be suprised how long your supply lasts, you certainly pump large amounts when you do. Maybe if things slow down a bit just add one more pump a day for a while???

Niamh, hope you are having a wonderful time back home. Eireann is growing very slowly, nice to be getting the use out of all those clothes, miss Poppette is getting close to going into size 0:rolleyes:

Captain and Kell :hug:awful when you have to leave bubs...I hope things work out, i;m sure it will be fine, just hard for mummy to adjust at the start..

Kerry I can't believe you have to go back in April, at least you will get nice breaks with Matthew over the holidays.

Lauren:doh::doh::doh:okay as long as they don't go blue etc, easily said!!! Hopefully when she goes onto solids it won't happen so much. My DS had bad reflux and MHN got us to put him on solids early around 5months made a huge difference to the reflux.
