Whoa Annat, that's a busy day! All I've managed is to get Si to an appt and back! Though, to be fair, we were up a lot with Si last night, he seems to have mixed up day and night a bit at the moment! :wall:
And homemade washing gel? I'm intrigued...

what's homemade washing gel anna?
Oh Nelle these days dont happen very often lol But Im trying really hard to do my housewifely duties a bit more frequently.
Would you like my washing gel recipe? My MIL thinks people spend waaaaaaaay to much on normal wash powder when your clothes come up just as spiffy (or even better I reckon!) with some homemade stuff that ends up costing around $10 for litre's and litre's. You only need 1/2 a cup too and can make it smell like whatever you want! She made some for me when she was here last and the only thing I had to replace was a bar of soap. Its saving me atleast $200 a year, what I would normally spend on *just* washpowder. I just made about 12ltrs and that should last me atleast 3-4 months.
I'll share it here so everyone else can steal it if they want :)
Unfortunately you CANNOT use it in front-loaders :(
Super Laundry Gel
Prep - 20 min
Makes - about 8-10ltrs
You will need:
1/2 bar of plain/laundry soap (or Sard wondersoap/Sunlight Soap - has stain removing properties -, you can also use homemade bar soap)
1/2 cup Lectric Soda or Washing Crystals
1/2 cup of Borax Powder
Water
Bucket with a lid (I use 2x 5.1ltr buckets with lids and just halve the 10 cups of hot water/3.8ltrs of water and the soap mix between the buckets)
Grate/Cut up the soap and put it in a saucepan. Add 2 1/2 ltrs of water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and Borax, stiring until it is dissolved. Remove from heat.
Pour 10 cups of hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Finally add 3.8ltrs of water and stir again.
Let it sit for about 24hrs and it will gel. Its not a solid gel, more of a watery gel. Its a low suds soap so dont panic if you dont see many suds.
You can add a fragrance like lavender or orange essential oil if you like. You can also boost the load by adding a scoop of napisan or even one capful of Eucalyptus Oil. If you dont think the batch is strong enough, add double of the Borax and crystals next time you make it up.
Super easy to make and it works a treat. Saves money too so pay it forward to someone else!
Interesting recipe, I'll have to get off my fat ass at some time and make it!
AnnaT- if he is pooing the every morning alot then I wouldn't worry bout him being constipated, maybe its all wind causing the pain or just weird feeling of it all getting thru. Is it coming out hard?
Oh and gymbaroo is great fun, half the lesson is physical type stuff, theres stuff to climb up and down on, tunnels, swing, trampoline, then second half is where they sing songs with actions, play with toys based on whatever the topic is. Like this term is transport and today was fire engines.
Beatrix- Poor you! I guess on the upside you did get them all done at once, Teleah should be done now wouldn't she and Annika won't need another til 4 so thats good. Hope they settle for you.
I'm exhausted, looked after my nephew this evening while my sister went out so he and Ash were so wound up running round together, at least they both went down no probs. They play so nicely together, its very cute, hes 6 and he looks out for Ash, makes sure she has a toy to play with and stuff.
We had a great night last night, Emily only woke once  But she has the sniffles, which she's had for the past couple of days, but today her nose is running. What can I give her? I'll have to pop down to the chemist soon I suppose.
Have my sister here for the weekend. She broke her ankle really bad, in 2 places last week. The dr's were intially going to operate, but they decided to see how it heeled in a week, then will review it next week. She's staying with my parents, but they've gone away this weekend, so I'm babysitting her.
shell - I bet you had a good sleep last night after running around 2 kids last night!
belle - how is Julia?
Belle-You are probably busy with Julia, but just wanted to make sure that she is ok? I hope that things are starting to look up.
Jodi-I dont think there is really much you can give Emily, except for heaps of cuddles. Maybe elevate her bed at the head end slightly and perhaps invest in a snot vacuum(the one Nelle talks about). Hope she gets better soon.
Belle - Hows Julia today.
Jodi - I second what Helen said. Not a lot as far as what you can do medically.
Shell - Glad the kids had a good time together.
Not much happening here. Just catching up on piles of washing after being away. J is still asleep. I will have to wake him soon or he won't want to go to bed tonight.
Jodi - if her nose is starting to block you can try some saline drops to help clear it so she can breathe easier.
Belle - how is Julia going?
Okay, not much else, pretty quiet.
:grouphug: to everyone.
Laurin
Not coming out hard Shell, rather soft actually and its sometimes playdough-ey and sometimes really yellow with what looks like seeds in it.
I was thinking about it and I had given him 2 teaspoons of Farex 4 nights ago to see what he thought. Maybe it was the culprit?!
AnnaT- Yeah maybe upset his tummy? Maybe getting his digestion system feeling funny. Doesn't sound constipated though. Ash used to have similar sounding poo.
Jodi- As others said try the saline drops with the nose sucker. Not much you can do at this age. Yay on Emily only waking once, hope it continues. Your poor sister, is she getting alot of pain?
I'm bit worried bout friend of mine, she had baby 4 weeks ago and her DH isn't being very supportive towards her, she is on verge of developing PND. I think her hubby is stressing bout money (she was main income earner) and he is taking it all out on her. Getting upset bout cost formula and pushing BFing but her supply is low. I might get Df to have chat to him considering they're best mates.
That is the worst thing that he can do Shell, as stressing will make it harder for her to feed. Def get DF to speak to her if you think that it will help. Maybe you could ring beyond blue or PANDA and get some hints on what you can do to assist. Or you could post in the PND section and get some advice from others.
shell - I hope your friend pulls through this. It's such a difficult time in the early days, and everyone always needs their partner for support. Hopefully getting your DF to speak with hers will help.
Shell- your poor friend, unfort some males take along time to adjust to having kids (mine still hasnt) i really hope things get better for her
Thanks girls. I know he is so stressed, I suggested to her that maybe he go talk to someone rather than take it all out on her. Just couple things he has said/ done have been selfish and insensitive. It just sad cause they waited 7 years for this baby, I want them to enjoy it and not have this time overshadowed. Her MCHN sounds quite supportive and is seeing her weekly to keep eye on things.
Oh and yay Bea for 2 months of BFing!
i have just uplaoded some pics of Liam,in my photo gallary, its only taken 2.5 weeks;)
Awww Chrissy, very cute.
Hey girls!
Just thought I'd quickly pop my head in and say hello. Oh, and huge big welcome to all the new bubbas that have arrived and those still baking - you girls have been BUSY!
Shell - Please keep an eye on your friend, I wish I had a friend who noticed that I was developing PND in the early days and I may not have gotten so bad (though I've nearly made a full recovery). I do feel for her hubby - he is obviously stressed, but if he talks it out, he may realise that things really aren't so bad and then stop taking it out on her.
All is going great with us, Xander is a little bugger - a real boys' boy if you know what I mean. Things are totally flat out crazy as we a doing massive renos' and I've had my contract extended at work and likely to take on an extra day sometime after X turns 2 (someone's gotta foot the bill for all the work being done on the house and my new car). But I'm loving life so all is great.
Take care chickadees! Hugs. Anna xx
Anna! Brilliant to hear from you! :D How are your cakes going? Great to hear you and yours are doing well! Is Xander talking? What renos are you doing?
Hello anna! Life does sound fun and exciting. Hows xanders ears?
Millana has made a recovery but ruby has it.Not as bad but enough not to warrant outings. I will have to go and get ruby some medicine today though.
I went out to dinner on saturday night with 2 school friends. Was a really good night of catching up.I felt guilty going out because millana and ruby were out of sorts but aaron coped marvellously and said they were angels.Go figure.
Chrissy ive been trying to find your pics? Where are they mate been dying to see little liam!lol
Belle hows julia now?
Helenp how are you and your preciuos bundle going? Any sickness?
Ness have you and dh made up?

caddie - Hope Ruby has a quick recovery.
Belle - How is Julia?
Very cute Chrissy!!
Jodi - How are you travelling with your girls? Is Emily better?
Kell - It has been a while since you have popped in. Is everything ok?
Maz - How are things for you??
Rach - Hi mate. I hope you and Jack are doing well.
Nelle - Is Si a long sleeper like Riv? Or are you up earlier in the mornings now that you have 2??
AnnaT - How is Rip now?
Bea - I bet you are glad all the needles are over and done with for the moment.
Laurin - How is Riley's sleeping going?
Marnikat - Are you still around?
Helen -Hope things are good for you.

Caddie- havent made up as such, he is doing the usual i will try to change stuff. who knows atm we are ok.
Meg- yep needles over and done with for Teleah at least, Annika no more til 4 and well MJ she has just started.

should really go tto the DR but im not taking 3 kids there.
caddie..they are in the gallary section of BB, and if you click on it they are on the front page atm.
Hi Girls
Anna - great to hear from you, sound very happy & busy which is fantastic.
Shell - how is your friend going, has your DF had a chance to speak to her DH? The first few months afer having a baby is HARD in every dimension of your life....
Caddie - good on you for getting out on Sat night, bet you felt like a new woman!
Meg - do you feel like you are back to real life now or are you still catching up on everything. Thanks for asking about Rylee's sleeping, she is still coming into bed with me.....
Hi to everyone else.
Okay better go, we had gymbaroo this morning then groceries and I am hoping Rylee will have a nap his arvo.
Laurin xxx
I don't know if Df will chat to his friend, he reakons he is not one that appreciates "having a chat" he might instead just bring up subtely bout how hard having baby is etc and try get him talking that way.
I have cold too, feel like crap, plus Af with it not good mix!
Bea- I don't know what going on with your Dh but I do hear you on them being PITA. Mine goes out every sat night then is hung over all day sunday while I'm at work so I don't get home til 10pm the house looks trashed, he seems to have this mentality sometimes that he doesn't have to do anything cause I'll do it. Other times hes great but has these very lazy, selfish stages.
Caddie- Sounds like you should go out more often and leave Aaron with the girls!
Anna- Great to see you again. It sounds like everything is going fantastically for you.
Chrissy those pics are so cute, hope all those older children of yours are all helping out! Bet they love cuddling and doing things for him.
Ash is starting to not sleep in the day again, luckily she isn't overly cranky in the evenings just a bit. She in her cot now laughing away at something.
OMG!
We might be moving to Brisbane instead of Townsville :o
A guy is being posted to Brissy but would prefer to go to Townsville so he's been looking for someone who wants to swap. He asked Ryan and he said he'd have to ask the boss ( ME ;) ) and I said if they can organise it within this week because we're due to go in less than 5wks then we'll take it.
OMG I dont know whether Im excited or sad or what :lol:
Shell - I would be leaving DF a list for when you are at work and get mighty $hitty if he can't get it done! I have resorted to that in the past. seems to work here.
Laurin - Yep feel like I have never left. Although we are having a slight problem with putting J to bed at night. He is used to being in the room with us as he was for the past month, and he does not like it too much being in his own room now. Oh well I will give it a few weeks as he settles back in.
AnnaT - I hope it all works out how you want it!
Emily's cold isn't too bad now, I've been putting the vapouriser on in her room at night, which seems to be helping.
Had her check up with the dr today, she's gained 600g since birth and has grown 5cm in length!! She's going to be one tall girl. Nina is tall for her age, but wasn't as tall as Emily is now, until she was 9 weeks old!
Nina did the cutest thing today. Her nappy (cloth) was wet, and she took it off, went into the laundry and wanted to put it in the bucket (which is in the laundry sink). Heath reckons all we need to do now is teach her how to put the nappy on herself, and we won't need to do anything
annat - :( I'm very sad, I thought I was finally getting a friend up here. On the other hand though, you'll only be about 4 hours away from Shar.
shell - that's good that Ash is still happy at least, even if she isn't sleeping during the day.
chrissy - love the pics of your little man! How is everything going?
anna - great to hear from you! That's great news about your reno's. Like everyone else has asked already, how is Xanders ears etc going?
Liam is gorgous chrissy,i wish i could give him a cuddle!! Very cute.
Ruby has millana's sickness so she has been pretty crabby all day.Wont allow me to do much at all. But anyway's thats what having kids is all about right! The goodside is she is giving me more cuddles.
I have finished my first Mr woodland owl! Check him out at wahms. He is very cute.lol
He is gorgeous Caddie. :heartbeat:
ETA: Just looked and so is Liam Chrissy! Awww! They sure don't stay little for long hey!
Shell- yeah DH is fantastic sometimes but he just doesnt think. My pet hate is when he isnt at work he will cook himself up lunch, like chips an dnuggets and not even make any for me or the girls, thn scream at the girls when they want to eat his meal. like really would it be hard to make extra but then every night he makes me the best Milo ever and wont tell me how he does it cuse it tastes the best.
OMG shell your right 2 mths of Breast feeding!!!
Hmmm well Annika was dressed a minute ago but now she has just run up to me naked!!!
Caddie- hoepfully you are getting all the winter sickness over and done with
Chrissy- gorgeous boy
Jodi- did you get mail?
just popping in quickly!!
OMG ANNAT!!! I will get to meet you!! Where abouts in Brisvagas would you be living??? We could have play dates!
Gosh, sorry annie, I forgot your down that way too, and much closer to brissy than bundy is.
aahhhh well, we seem to go down to the Sunshine Coast each year to visit rellies, and I'll be back down there in the new year for my step sisters wedding, so might be you both then!
ness - nope, no mail today. But that really doesn't surprise me, it's very slow to arrive up here. You'd think we lived on the other side of the world or something!
ggggrrrr at your DH though! I think men just don't think the way we do, when it comes to feeding the kids. I know when Heath is looking after Nina on his own, he'll never know what to feed her.
Both girls are in bed already. But Emily hasn't been awake very much today, so she'll probably wake at midnight and want to play
ness - mmmmmm, milo, now I'm craving one!
This might be dumb question but why does Brisbane get called Brisvegas? Is it like the las vegas of Oz? Where are all the casinos?
Bea- I know, hard to stay cross at them for bad things when they go do the nice things. Ash likes running naked too but lukily for me she hasn't worked out getting her nappy off yet.
Jodi- yay on Emily, shes doing really well, good to hear she is on the improve. Nina so ute, its so nice how they always want to help out and do things.
Caddie, the owl looks great. I'm loving all your stuff.
Jodi- that is so weird I posted your card like the day after emily was born.
really?! That's like 11 days ago! How frustrating. I'm not sure when shar posted her pressie, but I think it took its time getting here. I'll let you know if/when it arrives.
Shell- There is still hope that we will be belly buddies. We have unofficially been TTC for the last few weeks, and then we will try properly in August. So fingers crossed our months come up together!!
Goodluck to the ladies TTC.
Leith has been bitten by a bee. Yesterday he went and played golf and went to pick up a ball from underneath a bees nest (DUH!). They got angry and started swarming around him. He closed his eyes tight and caught one between his eyelids and got bitten mm's away from his eye. So today he has a shiner and is all zonked out from the antihystemines.
We took Eithan to the dr today as we were worried about a red lump on Eithan's head. I noticed it last week in amongst his hair but noticed again yesterday that it had gotten bigger. So we took him to the dr and he has one of those red tumour birthmark thingys. We call it a stawberry, I dont know what you guys call it. Apparently it would have always been there (I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT THOUGH) but as he would have started bumping it etc along with his growth spurts it caused it to bleed and the cells to multiply. Apparently it will disappear by the time he is five. Also we got him checked on a whim because he had been pulling his ears, it turns out he has a virus too. He has a low grade fever and fluid behind his ears and they are pink too, but not infected. I feel bad that I missed it, but oh well, nothing major.
Great to hear from you Anna and also Meg.
Better go, it's getting late, but just before I go, I have decided on a uni course that I want to do by correspondence. I feel a bit better now. I might change my mind by the time I get to it, as I wont be doing it until our youngest ones are 2 but I want to do a Bachelor of Applied Science. I really want ot find work in pathology.
Helen - so sorry to hear about Leith - how scary for him, I hate bees....Rylee was born with a strawberry mark on the side of her head - very small when born - prob 1 cm then got to its biggest point when she was about 7 months and now it has gone, but I was also told it would go by the time she was five so surprised it hasn't taken much time. I am sure too that Eithan's will gradually disappear over time. (funny story - a lady in Africa told me I had eaten too many tomatoes when I was pregnant, wtf???)
Sorry about lack of personals, gotta get moving otherwise I will be on my laptop all day.
:)
Laurin xxx
meg & shell - good luck with your ttc journeys! Hopefully you'll be belly buddies!! Is there anyone else TTC that I didn't mention? I have baby brain this morning.
helen - how scary for Leith! Hopefully it'll settle down soon for him. How is he going? I was born with a strawberry birthmark on my knee, but by about 6 months of age it had disappeared. A friend of mine's DD who is the same age as Nina has a strawberry birthmark on the side of her face, it's only small, and it's really cute. At least being on his head it's not noticeable, in case it doesn't fade.
ETA: good luck with your Uni plans!
Had a rough night last night. Nina kept waking up screaming the house down. Not sure what that was about. But at one stage, I had Nina AND Emily screaming at the same time. I tried to wake Heath to help (he usually tends to Nina at night if she wakes) but he must have been really tired as he was snoring really loud, and I couldn't wake him! So I was back and forth between both girls rooms trying to settle them. In the end, I had to ignore Nina, and feed Emily. By the time Emily had had a feed and was back asleep, so was Nina. Then at 2am Emily woke and thought it was play time :wall: I ended up taking her into our bed as it was cold, and Heath woke up. Then at 4.30, Heath took over and let me sleep. Apparently she went back to sleep not long after that. I knew that would happen though as she slept most of yesterday.
At least I got a sleep in till 8am, when both girls woke at the same time. But I'm still tired and couldn't be bothered doing anything today. I've plonked Nina in front of the tv to watch the cartoons this morning. She has her milk so she's not complaining.
Yep Jodi - I agree. lazy day for you today. (well as possible as that can be with 2 under 2!!)
Helen I am a Bach of App Sci. Social Work.
Laurin - Hmm interesting story!
Better go. Playgroup this morn, and we are still in jarmies. J is talking to his reflection in a soup spoon atm. Very cute!!
