Babies Born September 2006 #29

Ugh little monster woke up at 6:15 this morning and I left him awake in his cot at 6:30. I remember waking at 7 when Dhs alarm went off and him being quiet. Dh said he was sacked out up the opposite end of the cot to where we sleep him lol He wont stop crawling even in his sleep! He slept til almost 10am so Im a happy camper and so is he.
Now he has crawled himself over to his light and sounds playtable and has figured out how to work all the things that make sounds and light up. He is sideways on his back with it tucked up beside him so he can use one hand to touch things :cryinglaugh: He keeps rolling the little ball thingy so it says the ABCs.

Off to buy some PJs for him seeing as he has suddenly taken a dislike to his sheets. I wake up and find him cold as ice most nights, its stinking hot during the day but cools alot during the night.

Im going to have to buy him more 0's in normal clothes to I think.............none of his 00's fit well anymore :rolleyes:

Alright Kell, enough talk of these pies - I want a recipe now!! Cough it up mate.

Man Jodi, that sounds like a rough night. Glad Heath is home today for you. On the bright side, I was thinking, that if your next baby is more settled you'll appreciate it heaps - people tell me I'm taking River's placidity for granted and I won't know what hit me with the next one...uh oh...

As for the girls who don't have rolling bubs, well River rolls, but he just tries to eat his playrug and then wails when it won't ALL fit in his mouth. So I think he'd tell you that rolling really ain't all that.

Oh man Chrissy what a rollercoaster ride! Hope you can get some answers and some closure at the dr's and then powerwalk or jog or cardio your way in the next direction, you fitness freak you!

And Ness that's great that the dr you saw last night listened to you! All the best with your recovery.

Ok.. lil tiger is asleep so some me time. Cant be stuffed cleaning today, tis gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

Ok Pie Receipe...

Lamb and Mashed Potato Pie
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1kg diced lamb
1 brown onion chopped
2 garlic cloves crushed (i use the jar stuff)
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup red wine
2 cups chicken stock
1 tablespoon chopped rosemary leaves (i have those jar dried ones)
1 kg potatoes
80g butter
1/2 cup milk
sea salt and cracked black pepper
3/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese

Ok.. for DH and me, i just halve all the ingredients.. and the servings are still huge! I can never finish mine (potato make sit filling too).

Heat a large saucepan over high heat. (i use a deepish frypan that has a lid) Add half the oil and cook the lamb in batches for 3-4 minutes or until browned. (depending how big your saucepan is i just bung the lot in). Set aside.

Add the remaining oil, onion and garlic to the saucepan and cook for 3 minutes or until the onion is softened. Return the lamb to the saucepan, add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the wine, stock and rosemary and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover with a tight fitting lid and simmer for 1 hour. Remove the lid and simmer for a further 30 minutes or until lamb is tender. (i usually slightly break up the lamb piece with a wooden spoon so theres some small lamb bits too). Set aside.

Place the potatoes in a large saucepan of salted cold water. Bring to the boil and cook for 15 minutes or until tender when tested with a skewer. Drain and return to the saucepan. Add the butter, milk, salt and pepper and mash until smooth. Set aside. (i usually do this while the meat is still cooking to save time).

Divide the lamb mixture between four 1&1/2 cup capacity ovenproof dishes. Top with the mashed potato and parmesan and cook under preheated hot grill for 3-5 minutes or until the top is golden. Makes 4.

Have a super nice sweet and sour chicken reciepe too that we're gonna have tonight.. actually found it in a baby mag! .. will give that to y'all in the next issue.

We can shoot each other rach, I've had crap last hour and half trying to settle Ashleigh, she was at worst today. i dunno what was wrong, she screamed in the cot, in the bouncer, in my arms, finally she settled on the booby but everytime I took it out her mouth she'd wake and start wailing again! At the moment she's in the pram, quiet but awake with these tired eyes, yawning her head off. Maybe she'll fall asleep on the walk to mothers group. I tell you bring on sleep school, still another 2 weeks away, I have appt with the Dr first that runs it.
Better see if I can go get ready without the screaming starting, hope she doesn't do it at mothers group!

Have a question for y'all re solids. After you gave bubs the rice cereal (which Jess is now chowing down), what did you give them next? Fruit or veges? Was talking to my friend today who said she gave veges as she read giving them fruit will develope a sweet tooth and then when you introduce veges they wont take to it as it will be a bland taste and theyll just want the fruit. Which makes sense. But was then talking to mum who said they were always told to give apple or pear with rice cereal to start and then veges a month later (thats what was written in her health book she had for me). So yeh.. what do introduce next?

Kell - I went to the scrapbooking shop and spent $130 OMG Jed made me do it! He gave me his c/card and told me to. I dont think he thought Id spend that much but I havent bought any scraping things in months.

How about FEEDING HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!! At 4.5mths, can you believe it? There are piccys on my webpage. He'd been trying to hold the bottle for weeks now so I let him "hold" it while I feed him. Today I thought I'd see how he went at trying to hold it. Trying eh whats trying he held it and fed himself! Dh is going to be so proud, he already thinks his son is a prodigy :cryinglaugh:

For god sake at this rate the kid will be walking by 7mths :wall: I better book into the asylum now to make sure I get a place!

ETA - I will try hard to get video or pics of his crawling for you. Its so cute.

annat - YAY for Jett being on the move!! Nina holds her own sippy cup too. It's so cute! I got a pic today on Heath's phone, I'll send it to the computer and put it on my homepage soon.
How big is he now, he looks so big in his pics!! Nina is over 8kg, but she's long and lean so doesn't look big at all. And she has really fine features.

maz - good on you for spending so many $$$ on scrapbooking stuff, Jed should have known better :D

I've had a great day today, Nina's been an angel and Heath let me sleep for 1.5 hours this morning. Nian had a 2 hour sleep this morning and has so far been asleep for 1.5 hours. I don't normally like her sleeping later than 4pm, but she's tired so I'll let her today. We had her in the pool today and Heath dunked her for the first time, and she loved it :dance: I'm going to ring around on Friday and get her into swimming lessons hopefully from next week ...
sharleen, what do I look for in swimming lessons? Anyone in particular?

kel - I do rice cereal for brekkie, fruit for lunch and meat/vegies for dinner. So far everything I've given her she loves. Hope it stays that way. I've just been buying the tins of food while they're on special and once I'm more organised I'll make my own.

Nessa - If you are 'painting' with the colours, then liquid are the best to use. Or else you can learn a technique called flooding where you use very runny coloured royal icing to get a much stronger image.

DH has been great lately.. he is staying up and giving ALexander his bottle around 10.30 and guess what.. last night he slept from 10.30pm dreamfeed until 6.30 this morning !!! YIPPEEEE,,,

anyway.. will come back later, after all the rain we had yesterday i have some washing to do !

Was talking to a friend yesterday who has a 8 month old and he said they gave the veges first too as the fruit gives them a sweet tooth so yeh thats 2 people who have said it to me now so we'll go some veges this weekend. Bought some of the Heinz ones yesterday when i bought Gray some chockies.

Maz.. oh wow! Well hey if he's saying go for a spend GO FOR GOLD! Did you get some good stuff? Im into the chipboard stuff atm.. so expensive though. I have been a slack a$$ with my scrapping lately.. i just so cant be bothered atm.

AnnaT.. yay for Jett feeding himself! Jess holds his bottle too. I use the avent ones so i bought some of the handles for him to hang onto it.I still kinda hold it aswell for him otherwise he sticks the teat up his nose if it comes out of his mouth lol. Yep he just might.. i was walking at 9 months.. so you never know!

Ok.. head is starting to pound again.. im off to lie on the couch while Jess has a nap.

Morning all,
We are gonna go out for dinner tonight to celebrate. Its also celebration for us cause we met on V.Day. Usually we go to this fancy restaurant but this year going cheap.

FIL tests are inconclusive, the surg found something and at first thought it looked bad but then wasn't sure so he's sent off some tissue to be biopsied and we'll find out Friday. So another stressful wait. I think everyone is starting to feel less positive now but we can only hope and wait.

Ash for first tme didn't wake at midnight, after her dreamfeed she went til 1:50, so thats pretty good for her. (would love her to go 8 hours or something!) I shouldn't complain a mum in my mothers group her daughter wakes every 2 hours every single night, but then another one in the group her son goes for 11 hours so then I'm jealous. Its just funny how different all these bubs can be.

Kellxx- looking at that pic Jesse looks so much like you. I think its the eyes. Try take some nurofen or something for your head, migraines are the worst, i used to get them when preg and they were so awful.

little*princess- Sounds like my Df, I have to drop hints every so often like "oh I haven't got flowers for awhile" but i have to hint like that for a month before i see any! I think having Ash was the only time ever he's bought me flowers without the hinting! Thats great Alexander is sleeping so well and good on your Dh I think them helping out is much better than flowers any day.

Nessa83- The group will prolly be good, it'll be good for you to see your not alone feeling like this and be able to speak freely with others that will understand what you are going thru.

caddie- Ashleigh's been trying to climb out her bouncer and Df left her in it alone other day and she plonked onto the floor! I think she cried from fright then any pain. They are just getting to mobile on us!

Little Princess - My hubby and I don't really celebrate V day... nor do I get flowers any other time of the year either. :lol: WIll check your website out in a minute after I finish doing these personals.

Nessa - Another way to colour is to mix powdered colour with pure alcohol, the alcohol evaporates leaving only the colour behind - and wont make your icing soggy. Good luck with the mental health midwife.

Tell me about it... I've been dunking Xander in the spa to the tune of Humpty Dumpty. When Humpty 'has a big fall' I dunk him quickly. Now he holds his breath and shuts his eyes when I get to that bit of the song... so cute. Tho funny when he does it out of the water too!

Caddie - Poor little Ruby - glad she's ok, would've given you a bit of a scare. I can't put Xander in the bouncer now as he tries to roll out of it (the old style net ones).

Jodi - How was El Nina last night? Xander was a horror.

AnnaT - Xander has been able to spoon feed himself for ages too... he used to do it with EBM, now he does it with food. So cute; tho lately he prefers me to feed him as he has figured out that he can get more food in faster that way :rolleyes:

Im a huge holiday person, big on celebrating with pressies, dinners and cards. He knows this and he has still yet to clue in and pick atleast ONE to surprise me with something.

Ok feeling a bit better now. My migrains are terrible. I first lose my vision and if i dont take anything straight away then i get a super painful headache, i cant talk properly (what im thinking or trying to say doesnt come out, other words come out instead) and then half of my body goes numb and then the next few days moving my head just hurts. No idea why i got this one. I previously would get them the week before AF is due and AF was here last week. But am so glad Jess was a good boy for me.

Shellbell.. oh cool. Everyone says he looks like DH.. but lately my sister and my friend said he's starting to look like me too. Yeh took some Nurofen Plus.. theyre the only thing that will tackle it (apart from Panadeine Forte). Sorry to hear about your FIL.. though fingers are crossed the test comes back fine. Yay for Ash's long sleep!! Lets hope shes started the ball rolling. Yep, my niece use to wake every 2 hours for a feed (breast) and my sister did that for a year! Really dont know how she was still alive after it!

Anna**.. oh absolutely. If DH was home i could but not today.. had to soldier on.
Yeh i thrive on routine too.. i hate change and not knowing whats going on. I sing to Jesse every evening "Jesse's gonna have himself a bath today" when its bath time.. he knows exactly what happens each day.

AnnaT.. oh i am the same.. i put the christmas tree up in November! BIG holiday fan... and my DH is the same.. though last year was the first year i got anything for Valentines day from him.. will be surprised if i get something this year.. though i did tell him not to bother with flowers as theyre just too expensive and they die.. doesnt stop him getting me some chockies on his way home from work though! So we'll see.

Maz,sorry to hear you are having a hard time.If i lived near you,you know id help you out.Hope the agression with wilhelm is a passing phase as i do remember you saying he is usually a gentle soul.
My hubby got me flowers last nite! mind u they are half dead.When i pointed this out he said i know but its all they had.Why bother wasting money or go to a different shop.Of corse i got him a lovely card and new undies and boxers.I went and spent his money today instead on a new pair of jeans.
Millana went great at daycare and cried for 10 min after she realised id gone,.but once told i was at shops she was happy.

lp- i just give riley breakfast and dinner at the moment he will start to have lunch in a few weeks he seems happy and isnt looking around for more food yet. i go by him they will tell you if they are still wanting more.

LP.. Jesse only has the one lot at the moment as he only started on Saturday. He's been having that at around 1.30pm (lunch) but from tomorrow im going to move it to his 9.30am-10am feed (being breakfast feed) and will introduce some veges as his dinner at 5.30pm.

DH just came home with a huge bunch of flowers for me. Theyre red tulips. Theyre so gorgeous. I told him not to get me any too.. awww gotta love him. :)

Hi Ladies

I am finally back on, we got back from our holiday last week, had a great time, saw some snow and was nice to spend time together as a family. I have been reading through and all the bubs are going great guns aren't they, rolling, solids, etc, etc. Rylee is out of whack at the moment and waking every 1 to 2 hours during the night - hope this is only a phase as I think someone said they knew someone who did it for a year - puhleese!!!!

Maz - hope Wilhelm starts to settle down soon - it is amazing how when things change it can affect the little ones, and sometime it is things we don't even think about but has a huge affect on them.
Kell - your migraine sounded awful, hope it is okay now, I used to get them when I was on the pill...not nice....
Sorry for missing everyone else out....but better go and get my chores done before rylee wakes up for her breakfast. Hopefully, i will be a bit better about getting online.

Happy Valentines day all you yummy mummies out there! My mum and sis gatecrashed our valentines arvo :rolleyes: gotta love em. BUT on the good side, my old car is off our hands and my sister is now probably recklessly driving it whither she pleases :p Felt a bit sad, since I've traded my carefree uni bomb for a responsible family car. Ah well.
Speaking of cars, we'll be painting cars (old ones) at youth group on Friday. If I can get some paint in time. Hmm.

Oh and River's getting his knees underneath him now, so perhaps it won't be too long before he realises he can scoot around. At the moment it's just small accidental scooting. But he's too busy trying to eat thumb/fist/carpet/rug/anything to notice much else at the moment.

Jodi, that sounds lovely that Heath made you dinner! Rans is out buying us subway and hiring a movie :p We're postponing our romantic coffee or dinner until we actually have money.

Speaking of money, I've found a nappy bag that I LOVE. Well, I think I love it. From the pictures I've seen. It's $99 though. But it was more like $150. Wondering if I can beg Rans to get it and give it to me for mother's day...surely I'm up for something good for my first ever mother's day...not sure if I can wait that long though.

Hi Laurin.. yeh i hope its just a phase.. was my niece who did it for a year.. until my she was off the boobie. Yeh im on the pill. This is the first time that i got a migrain on the pill im on. Every other pill id get them once a month, i thought this one was the a good one, obviously not. Though ive been getting migrains since i was in year 7 the only time i stopped having them was when i was pregnant!

Nessa.. OH WOW!!!! Yay for Annika!! Still nothing for Jess.. but lately hes been scrunching his nose and smiling with his gums which is just so cute, so the teeth can wait :)

Nelle.. yep beg for the bag! If you start now by the time mums day comes around he'll be begging you to buy it so youll shut up about it lol!

Hi all,finally the munchkins are in bed and im freeeeee.
Nelle,what sort of bag is it? You got me curious now.I love my backpack one i got from bigw as it fits both my girls gear in it when im out and about.
I wish i had a new couch but really if i did millana would destroy them as jumping on the couch is her thing to do at the moment and my bed!!
She enjoyed daycare.I stayed an hour and then left and got a haircut and she cried only a little and was eating her second bowl of risotto when i went to pick her up!!

Sharleen i look at ruby when born and she is so tiny.My hands look huge!!

Nina is sitting up all by herself now!!!!!!!!!!!!! and she pushed off with one leg while on her tummy. She didn't get up on all 4's, she had her arms out straight with her upper body high off the ground, then pushed off with one leg, very cute.
Heath just made the yummiest dinner, I got spoilt! Roast chicken with baked vegies, my favourite wine & a packet of Tim Tams ... mmmm yum!
