They say to start the morning on a positve and the rest of the day will be great. Here's hoping. lol.
Caddie - so happy Ruby is back home with you. R you still bb feeding or expressing?
Shell - Im with Jodi try the boiled water. Its works wonders for me with Vy or try the old putting on tummy and rubbing back. I know when Vy brings her legs up she has atummy pain and usually needs a poo soon.
Belle - my boobs are almost back to normal bar the ezcmer (spelling @hit) Im so happy that your weight is dropping off. I hope I can get down to double figures agin instead of triple.
Little P - PMSL at disco comment. Diva hour is any hour Vy decides that she had enough. She changes them all the time.
Congrats Pip cant wait to se eyou over here.

Anna - woman dont be jealous, look at how gorgeous your little man is..oh I love little baby boys, I could just eat them up with cuddles. I looks like he's sort of smirking on his ticker.
Nelle - how was the water birth? YOu always leave a smile on my dial after I read your posts. you crack me up. I haven't had a frosty since having Vyolett but in saying that now I might have to go buy some....

Another beautiful day here in Shepparton so Im going to paint a wooden bookselve/toybox white for Vy's room. She got that much stuff when she was born we dont know were to put it all..spoilt little so and so
So im taking my jelly belly and we're off to the hardware while Jed and Vy are still asleep.

AnnaT - Sometimes a babies tired signs are very similar to the 'I am hungry' ones....eg: rooting for boobie, grizzling etc. Are you waiting for Jett to cry or are you trying to attach him when he is only grizzling and grunting? I was confusing Paige's tired signs for hunger, and trying to feed her...this just meant she was always only feeding for a short time, not getting any hindmilk therefore being windy and grizzly, unsettled therefore grizzling more, unable to settle herself...and the cycle would continue. I gave her her first formula top up this morning, as I just needed to be able to see that she was getting enough...I also am needing to express about 20mls of boobiejuice before a feed so I know she is eventually getting to the hindmilk.

Well ladies, Mummy Daddy and Paige survived (only just) their first mini family outing. We went to Hubby's 56 yo Aunty's wedding...lots of smoking and noise...so I hid in one of the bedrooms pretending to feed her...and only allowing close family to come in and cuddle. We only stayed around 1-2hours...but we did it!!

sorry i have been MIA for a while, have to catch up with all the news, i will attempt to read through all the personals today.

we had to go away for a few days as craigs grandfather died 2 days after caitlyn was born, he had a fall on the exact time she was born and he never recovered. wow that was so stange.

caitlyn is doing very well, still loving her boobies,and she doesnt like to sleep of a night time, only in my arms, but of a day she sleeps all day long.

my kids love her and its a fight to see who is going to change her bum.

ill try for personals soon, as this is taking me ages to type this since she is sucking on mums boobies.

Thanks girls on your advice, i tried the water only got a couple tiny bits in. She refused to take it from the bottle so I had to squeeze the teat and squirt bit into her mouth. Each feed over night she has settled that bit easier and last feed we just had she settled straight away, maybe cause she had done a ginormous poo! Plus she had a bit of a vomit so maybe she feeling better.
It just so frustrating not knowing. We all need that thing off that Simpsons episode where Homer's brother invents that device that interprets babies cries.

chrissy- Sorry to hear bout your partners grandpa. Mine passed away few years ago after having a fall too. Was quite sad cause he was so independant still driving and all then had a fall and died 2 days later.

Adele- good to hear riley is eating so well.

ChrissyT- Congrats on surviving the party. The furthest i've ventured to outdoors so far is just to the lake nearby!

maz- I've been trying her on her tummy too giving her back a rub, she doesn't like being on her tummy for too long but it does quieten her for a little while.

jodi_lee- Wow, 7.5 hours! You lucky thing. I think the first time Ashleigh sleeps for a long period I will prolly be jumping out of bed checking she is alright!

Nelle- Its the worst all that stuff just after labour. I don't know why God made it so hard for us, we go through the painful labour then instaed of getting a rest we are straight into sleepless nigts and on top of that all the post labour pains. I found those first few days the worst, heavy bleeding, uterus pain when BFing, sore boobs, painful stitches and on top of all that those bloody baby blues! Anyways I hope you start to feel better.

AnnaT- Like already mentioed maybe give the BFing another chance by seeing a lactation consultant and if that still doesn't work don't feel bad about going onto bottle. You need to do what keeps you and jett happy.

Just spoke with Helen, she is well, they have an appointment on Wed next week for blood tests at the paed unit at the hospital for Eithan, lets hope tests come back clear and ok. They are hopeful that all is ok fingers crossed. Helen should be back online later in the week.

I must have missed something regarding ethan too? Is it the reflux?
I have uploaded a couple of pics of my adorable munchkin. So cute i could eat her.I was trying to get a nice one of her as tommorow im getting her hands and feet immortilized by twinkletoes! I had it done with millana so its only fair ruby gets it too.

Heres what Helen wrote to me before she had to go offline last week, she will be back online later this week...for those who missed the post...

Well Eithan and I had our 6 week chk-ups today. Mine went all well. After talking to the ob we have decided that I will not be going onto metformin but after I finish breastfeeding, going back on the pill and a particular one called dianne. My scar is looking well, I just have to get some cream to put on it and keep a pad on it to keep it dry not moist to prevent infections.

Eithan is doing ok. His weight is now 3.9kg undressed so that is good. She isnt too fussed about the reflux as he is putting on weight and he isnt vomiting blood. It's just one of those things that we have to work through. However his jaundice seems to be coming back. I think I let you know about all the troubles we had with him in hospital. Well now we have to go and get some blood tests done to check for his jaundice levels and to make sure that he doesnt have some sort of bad enzyme thingy or bad liver function. Also his kidney's could be at risk of getting affected aswell. So DH and I are pretty upset at the moment and I am so not looking forward to getting the blood test done, I know I am going to cry. I dont know what to do at the moment. DH and I are just trying to be optimistic at the moment.

Owwww my butt! LOL, people are telling me I'll be able to sit comfortable after a week, well, I am counting the days!! I think today is the grazing healing...I almost do a handstand when I pee though, to stop stinging! Pretty funny.

Maz, I think I agree about starting the day positive, I am making an effort to shower and dress well and pretty myself up a bit in the mornings, and then I sort of feel human again, iykwim.

Hmm well I had missed about Helen and Eithan as well, sure hope that things end up alright with the little guy!

Boobs are massive (well, for me anyway) and less sore now...but man oh man, I am dripping everywhere now! Trying to remember to drink enough as well, to stave off bladder infections! I am not the biggest fluid intaker, but I sure am trying!

DH went out and bought me two crop tops, a bra and a top, as well as some baby clothes. He's such a sweetie. His latest trick is pretending to answer River like a phone when he screams, by lifting his ear to Riv's head and saying 'hello?' Makes me laugh. Til I realise that River's too psyched up to feed properly..

I've seen at Target and other places that tops with a partial button up front are in this summer...my friend bought me one, and it's awesome for feeding, I just unbutton it (a bit fiddly) and it's enough to free up the boob! So Rans and I might do an outing with mum as moral support to the shops tomorrow to stock up on helpful clothes...

Shell, so with you on the Simpsons machine! It's so time consuming trial and erroring every option when you're not sure what they want hey. I get upset when I've tried everything and he still cries...and when he cries for boob and then when I go to latch him on, he quickly shoves in his fist, or my knuckle :rolleyes: little dummy.

Hey AnnaT, just a thought which probably won't help at all, but I realised today that I need to be feeding Riv unwrapped, because wrapping makes him sleepy so he doesn't feed as well...so I guess keep observing for little dumb things like that too? Keep us posted on how it's going mate.

Yeah Chrissy, Riv sleeps better at day too, but I'm hoping that will change now my milk's coming in? Someone give me some hope! (where is the emoticon of someone pulling their hair out?!)

Sorry for butting in here Nelle, but with my second child, Erin, for the first three days until my milk came in, she would scream blue murder whenever she was awake and was never settled, but once it came in on day 4, I had a whole new baby! she was a lot more contented and sleep for longer periods too - even the midwives commented on how different she was (I was still in hospital). I am sure that River will be a lot more settled for you now your milk is in.

Hey Belle – Thanks for the welcome… Kiara is going pretty damn well! She has been a bit chucky today but other than that all is well. She is spending her first night in her room tonight, we have had her in with us, but we don’t get any sleep as every little noise I wake too! Fingers crossed this arrangement works better! How’s Julia… she is just as much a sweetie as Kiara!!!

Nelle – SALT BATHS… and URAL works magic! I couldn’t stand going to the toilet for the firsr few weeks, then my hospital put me onto Ural (you can get them from the chemist) you half fill a glass of water, put in the Ural, swish it around for a second, then skull… and the salt baths, just a handful of salt in about 4 inches of warm water and sit in it for 5 minutes… you wont know your self after that!

Nelle - Like Mel said, drink Ural (which will help the UTI anyway). I also kept one of those squeezy sauce bottles next to the loo which was filled with water... and squirted that at my tender bits whilst peeing, it diluted the pee and stopped the sting. If you can be bothered doing so, warm water in the bottle is sooo soothing, but cold works fine too.

ShellBell - To administer the water have you tried a dropper? You can get them at the chemist for next to nothing (or they come free with baby panadol or Bruers' products)

Caddie - I love the stuff by Twinkletoes... such a gorgeous memory to have. Ruby's new pics are gorgeous.

River is driving me nuts...I have done 4 or 5 feeds since 9pm...
Am a bit frustrated, because some of that is my fault, for a while he wasn't latching on properly and I wasn't paying attention, so he probably wasn't getting filled properly, but surely by now...
Rans made me come to bed, cos I was just getting depressed, so I am listening to him fuss for 5mins then settle, then fuss again, then settle...etc. Sigh.
Probably by now he has a dirty nappy or something...SIGH.

Well, I need to go to the toilet, and then perhaps I'll try and sleep through the noise?
I have no idea what I'm going to do...so frustrating hey. Hope everyone else's nights are going better! :)

Nelle, Nina does the cluster feeding thing at night as well, has from day one. From around 4 weeks of age she started feeding full on for about 4-5 hours at night, and my boobs were getting really big, then all of a sudden at 5 weeks she was only waking once a night for a feed.
I think the cluster feeding is them building up your milk supply so when they're a little older they can sleep through the night.
I know it's hard having to just sit there and feed, feed, feed, but I'm constantly telling myself that one day she'll sleep through and I'll get enough sleep ... well here's hoping anyway :pray:

well Caitlyn only seems to sleep in my arms in our bed of a night time, that means i actually get sleep, but as soon as i put her in the bassinette, she is straight up, im only averaging 1 hour a night when i opt for the bassinette, so im a cranky ***** come first thing of a morning, i only let her sleep with us when craig doesnt work, so for the next 5 nights its no sleep for me again.

jodi thanks for that advice re: feeding, caityn seems to feed, feed, feed all night, my milk is well and truley in, but im glad all this feeding is actually doing something, and in a few weeks she will settle.

Chrissy depending on what programs you've got ... with mine I do into the picture right click and select Import into Photoshop Album, or I have another program called Batch Image Resizer which I downloaded from the net (using the trial version) and I can resize images that way.
I know exactly what you mean when you put Caitlyn down in her bassinette and she won't sleep. At the beginning of the night, when Nina is tired, I'll put her in her cot and she'll just scream & scream & scream! Will only settle if I pick her up. But the funny thing is she'll go to sleep there any other time of day or in the middle of the night, only carries on at the beginnig of the night??

Ashleigh still is getting lots of wind pain but not taking so long to pass it now, still needs help though. New thing now is she has a vomit after every feed. Is this normal?

Anna- thanks for that idea i will have to get Df to pick up a dropper from the chemist after work today, I was wondering what else i could use to get some water into her.

chrissy- i had same prob trying to work out my pics. I have kodak workshop and I went into the help part about resizing and found it there, so maybe check the help part in whatever program you have.

Nelle- i hope River settles down for you soon. When my milk came in ashleigh was feeding every 2 to 2.5 hours first few days then sort of settled bit more. With the stitches took me about week and half before I could sit down without the pain.

Well my little munchkin is on bottle and she wanted feeding every 2.5hrs last night and at 4am wouldnt settle unless i held her.She is now awake since 6am and not wanting sleep or bassinet.I have put her in a swing and thats helped whilst i feed my other DD and myself! Sounds like all our bubs are doing the same thing so it must be normal.
Ruby is actually more settled than millana was so i hope it means she will be a more contented little thing.Millana is a little turkey that never is quiet and wants everything!
Well they say the first 6 weeks are the most unsettled and once through that it should be better! Lets hope.

Had a really good night (no egg throwing please). We feed Vyolett at 8.30 last night and she slept until almost 3am. then she went back to sleep after her feed until 7. I think we're starting to find our feet a bit. thank god. She's drinking between 125ml to 150ml in one feed. LIttle guts she is. Ive started getting period pain again (sorry for tmi) so im hoping my body will get back into normality again.
Im off to vaccy and clean a bit. Nikolaus' first day back at school so its nice and quiet.YAY!

Well Julia poor little thing is still covered in her hormonal pimples :( she is feeding well and now feeding every 3 hours usually at 3am, 6am, 9am, 12noon, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 12middnight etc.. but she never settles at 9am - 12noon or from 6pm - middnight sigh.

DH is in grumpy mood today everything is too much for him, he must be hungover bad from the NRL grandfinal.

Hope everyone is well sorry for no personals im not feeling the best.

had a good night riley only woke up once for at feed at 2am and then was back in bed by 3.30am. And Akira even slept a whole night Yay first time in months. well i have nothing to do i have cleaned the house bathed both kids and done the washing.

Dont worry belle,mu DH found it all too much after the footy on sat when he had a couple too much too drink. He doesnt deal with stressful situations and was bemoaning the fact he had no sleep,he hadnt gotten over the birth and looking after millana,his work piling up and then ruby in hospital. I had had enough as he was swearing and basically told him to get out of the house and go cool down.Does he think i have had it easy.He didnt even have to deal with ruby choking and sorting her out at the hospital.He went to work.
Millana woke last night when the baby cried and the only way to get her to nod back off is with a drink of milk so at the moment it feels like i have to babies!
But i am still happy,and coping.

Nelle – try the salt baths too… it will get better soon! With the Ural I was having two sachets three to four times a day… took a few days to work – GL

Chrissy – OH I HEAR YA!!! Kiara is the same… she is clockwork during the day but at night… that’s a whole other story…. She is two hourly if in her bassinette and 4-5 hourly in with us….. I so don’t want to get her used to co-sleeping so every night we try her in her room… I am going to put a worn top of mine in there tonight to see if that helps, and give her a bottle top up before I go to bed!

Well I only just got out of bed… DH was home early and took Kiara so I went back to sleep!!! Feel pretty damn good atm… let’s see in a few hours!

Mel - I felt good until I finished vaccuming. Now I feel like Ive been hit over the head with a baseball bat. frigen headaches!
Caddie and Belle - group hug, thats all im saying. Why do the men think we do nothing. They stress out and get so dame $hitty over a day or two and we struggle on with no-one (bar us girls) to help each other. Family is a waste of time - they don't want to hear, they think everything is cute and funny. Oh I get so annoyed when they laugh at things that $hit me. AHHHHHHH1 Big hugs and kisses to you both. Caddie I take my hat off to you hon after all the drama's yourve had in the last 2 months. Your a dam strong woman now can you rub off on me please ;).
Belle - put a radio in Julia's room, that way you dont hear her crying straight away and DH wont jump up to her all the time. Jed does it and it drvies me spare. ON weekends my nerves are shot cause Jed's fussing over her all the time then on monday and tuesday when daddy's back at work, im there with a baby that wants me to hold her all the time. I don't think so! She screamed for 10 mins and i just pumped up the stereo. I checked on her and she was sound asleep.
Jodi - lucky I didn't have your phone number I would have called you at 3am. heheheh. It takes me about an hour to go back to sleep.
Has anyone heard from Merrie? Did she have a contact at all...oh its killing me to know how she is.
Helen - I know you read but dont post so I just wanted to let you know we're all thinking of you babe. Hope everything is going alright and your coping.
Im going to go and do a bit of scrapping now. Have to start Vyoletts albulm, I have almost 200 pics already. Oh and I feel so weird getting pink stuff. I swore she wasn't going to be a pink girl, but she is! opps!

Well it seems out little Paige is a daytime sleeper and a nighttime waker. After having up to 4 hour sleeps during the day, we were back to 2 hourly wakings during the night. That's ok thow, as I know she will set the pace and I am more than happy for her to take the lead in her little life.

We are finding the nightime bath is unsettling her for 'bedtime'...so today we bathed her after her 10am feed....she settled and crashed. We may introduce the nighttime bath routine when she is a little older and keep it as a back up if she ever needs settling at night and nothing else is working.

Hope u r all well....I still dont know how you all find the time to type so much pluz personals :)

chrissyT - i'd love to go with the Vyoletts flow but its harder when there's 2 other's that depend on you too. I was exactly like you when I had NIkolaus and I absolutely loved it. Just follow your nose mate and you'll be right. Have to ask you, do you still want to go back to work? I was dead set on going back when Nikolaus was 6 weeks old and the week I came home from hospital, I rang my boss and resigned. Being a mummy is my job now and I couldn't get paid any better than with hugs, kisses and unconditional love.

Nina has started her 'witching hour' and I'm stuffed already. Haven't had a nanna nap today :crying: ... and Heath has to go to footy tonight, guess it'll be a tiring night for me :help:

After my last exhausted post, I must have pretty much fallen straight asleep, and next thing I know, Rans is bringing him in to me at 5am! And then I fed and slept til after 9, so if things go a bit ugly tonight, I will have some hope that it will be followed by some nice long sleeps. He is starting to go 4 hrs between, but I suppose I'd better not look too hard for routine in a 5 day old!

As for my pain, I think it's the grazing that's stinging and hurting more than the stitches, so hopefully that's a sign it's healing?

Better cut this short, baby crying.

Xander pretty much lets us know when he is hungry... he starts sucking through your shirt tryign to break into the boobies! He hasn't figured out yet tho that men and most other women do not have milk. lol. If I don't feed him when he starts 'rooting' for food, then he will very quickly start screaming and then he is very hard to attach and sucks too hard (ouch). I tried the whole 3 hourly feeding routine thing, it isn't for us and I just ended up in tears, but have heard it works well for others.

I demand feed with Nina, and it works well for us. Nina will let me know when she's hungry by rooting and/or sucking on her fingers/clothes/blanket, and she also does it with anyone!!

I have had such a **** day and night so far.Ruby just whinging and crying and wont settle.This morning she was awake for 4hrs and now this arvo,same thing.Ive tried everything.Im sure its wind.
She will quieten for a short time if i rock the bassinet but im tired!!!! I hope she behaves in the nite.

I demand feed Kai,Night times are a nightmare at the moment though,Went to bed lastnight at 11.45pm after feeding Kai.I was then up with him for a feed at 2.20am and after the feed I put him back in his cot and got back into bed myself and he decided to fill his nappy.Strained for half an hour,so I knew I couldnt go to sleep untill he finished so I could change his nappie.Changed him and put him back in his cot and he didnt want to go back to sleep,so I had to give him another ounce or 2 of milk and by the time I got him back off to sleep it was 4.05am. Today I feel completely shattered.
