Well I've spent the day on the net planning our Sydney trip. So excited I've hardly been anywhere so I get so excited when a holiday is planned!

He said the other day that when I get pregnant then he will take the car issue seriously soooooo Im hoping I get a good line tonight so I can wave it around in front of his face chanting 'New car new car new car!" Oh and Im going to look at getting some cloth nappies, ofcourse with Nelle's fabulous advice in mind! Ugh I feel so crummy though, just really off colour kwim??

Can you alternate any cover with any nappy? Say I bought some of the cheaper covers and used them over the nappies of a different brand?
The Pockets need inserts right? Any specific kind or just inserts? You slip them into the pocket and change them AND the outer nappy, plus use a cover?

Yep, any cover with any nappy. Easy.
Pockets don't need a cover (well, some do but it's rare). You just fill em with absorbent stuff, then come nappy change time, I unstuff it (so I don't have to unstuff it just before I wash it) and pop the stuffing and nappy in the bucket!
I can go into detail about pocket stuffing if you need.

Crikey Anna, Xander's almost 7 months old!!! With Eithan not far behind! Unbelievable. Are some of our babies seriously on their way to 1 year old...it's amazing how fast the time goes.

as you know Nina has decided to self wean off the boob onto the sippy cup fulltime with EBM. And it is absolutely killing me. I'm sticking with it for now because I set myself a goal, and don't want to break that, but to be honest I don't know how much longer I can take. She's been having huge feeds lately (some are 200ml in one go!!!), and because I have to express, to get 200ml takes about 15-20 minutes. When I was breastfeeding her it would take about 5-10 minutes to feed her. So my body is working double time now. In the past week I've been having 1-5 hours of sleep at night. And it's affecting my relationship with Heath too. I just don't feel I have time for him lately. We talked about it last night, and although he didn't ask me to stop, he suggested I give up b/f and put Nina on a formula. He only suggested it cause he can see what it's doing to me. I've lost 3kg in 1.5 weeks. He's been so supportive of me b/f, so for him to suggest putting her on formula made me realise how bad things have got. I am considering it, but I'm so attached to b/f that I don't know if I can stop. Make sense? I'm not even ready for her to wean onto a sippy cup, so that's been a bit sad for me as well. I've got some serious thinking to do I think this weekend. I think it's time to put me first, ahead of Nina. Heath said that the day I walk in the door with a tin of formula, then he'll fully support my decision and we'll go from there. Sometimes I don't know what I ever did to deserve him. He's so good to me.

Hopefully I haven't forgotten anyone else, if not, sorry, didn't mean to
Jodi, the decision to go to formula is a hard one and I can totally relate to how you are feeling. It's hard and you feel like crying but you have done a great job feeding her, maybe just supllement one sippy cup to start off with. A tin of formula is good for 4weeks before you have to throw it out. Dont feel as though you would have to do one or the other. The best thing that the dr ever said to me was that people dont realise that it's not black and white, formula or BF, you can do both successfully. so if you are unsure but still wnat to give your body a bit of a rest, just try the one sippy cup and see how you both feel about it and whether it makes a difference to your health or not. i am feeding Eithan 1 night bottle everynight and the rest he is BF and he is quite content and I am feeling quite good aswell. Whatever desision you decide to make, it will be the right one and we will all be here to help you out as you go through this emotional stage.
Leith comes back late tommorrow night. I am feeling very lost he is just so far away.

He had his first taste of baby yoghurt this arvo (the Vaalia ones) and he loved it! Kept leaning forward with his mouth open for more then got mean when there wasnt any left. The kid would eat a roast if I would let him, cant half tell he's definately ready for solids :cryinglaugh:
Jodi, firstly I want to give you a hug re your weaning/formula dilemma, I wont give advice though because I dont BF. All I can say is formula is fine, look at my chubba! Hope you come to a decision soon. Yeah he has been behaving better than he was. No more waking in the night but he is back to being super duper grumpy during the day. Atleast he is going to bed at 9:30ish instead of 10:30-11ish now, all I have to do now is go to bed when he does. One of these days I will, Im blaming Nelle for my late night tonight with all her cloth converting, Im trolling the cloth websites figuring out what my stash is going to be!
Ok ok and looking at the super faint line on my HPT. I still think Im imagining it but I emailed my friend some pics and she said she could see it there soooo Im starting to get a tad bit excited......................

But Jodi, just wanted to say that Helen made a good suggestion, how about expressing some and then giving some formula? Can you call a nurse or ABA counsellor and see if they have any ideas? I know exactly what you mean about being attached to breastfeeding, it's something you give Nina that no-one else can. I'm going to be sad when River weans. Or guilty if I have to wean him. But in the long run, I don't think any kid's like 'my mum doesn't love me cos she gave me formula'. :p There are far more important parenting choices than that, and you've breasfed for those first more important months anyway.
But the saying that's been thrown around in here a lot in the past still counts: Happy mummy = happy baby. You need to take care of yourself so you can take care of Nina.

Jodi honey - i take my hat off to you girls who have stuck through a BF your darlings. You do what is best for you and your tribe. I found it to hard to BF especially when I got mastitus (sp?) but it hasnt put me off trying again this time...migh tinvest in an electric pump to start with. OH and you girls that are BF...I bet there's nothing left of you all from the way your all loosing the weight.
Nelle - your terrible..PMSL..sadly dont have any BG at all btu I have 2 sandra stuffables that I love to death.
Annat - ive got 20 baby beehinds (I even tie died some), a couple of pocket nappies, 5 fleecie covers (I made 2) AND IM WORKING ON MAKING MY OWN POCKET NAPPY. I so dont know why that went to capitals then...your going throught the same now you see it, now you dont with the pos line. Email it to me...share! oh go to the buyena wediste, they have second hand nappies there.

Jodi - I really feel for you hon re the EBM thing... I totally applaud you for keeping it up till now as it is so much more work for you. Maybe you could see a lactation consultant who can get Nina back on the boob for you. When I've given Xander the odd bottle of formula, I've usually replaced the mid-arvo feed... I always make sure I BF both the first and last feeds in the day, mainly so I don't get engorged overnight or wake-up in agony. Did you see the segment of the Kerry-Ann show last week re which formula is the best? They had Robin Barker on there, and she said that as they all have to conform to a standard, go for the cheapest cow's milk based one!
Maz - I don't think it is twins hon, just some nice healthy HCG levels! As soon as you've sewn one of those pockets, send me a photo. I've got another idea for you as well in regards to sewing, will fill ya in via e-mail.
AnnaT - The BumG's are fantastic, especially the new v2.0 ones with PUL outers. But for over night you can't go past the Beehinds Bamboo for great value. And yes, you can mix many brands (in regards to covers/fitteds nappies) - but don't be tempted to go for those cheap nappy covers you see in supermarkets etc, they are crap in comparison to PUL ones.
Helen - Sending hugs till your DH gets back. Sounds like you need them.
LittlePrincess/Annie - That Choice report is a pretty interesting one. Oh, for anyone interested, I have a Choice subscription if someone is chasing anything in particular.

well I just can't win with this sleep business. Day sleeps have improved, she still only has half hour naps but thats ok for her. But we've gone from taking an hour to settle and scream to her settling herself pretty much, just needs a few pats.
But now nighttime is a nightmare. I've only ever been lucky to get 3-4 hour blocks from her but last few nights its like 2 hourly. Wed night was good night but thats one night. I don't know what has happened, don't know if its because we've changed the way we settle her in the day or I wonder if starting solids is making her tummy funny? Whatever it is better stop cause I am so exhausted and feel ill. Last night she woke after 1.5 and I tried to resettle by patting but she started screaming til I gave her the breast. I would've perservered but I worry bout poor neighbours (we live in block of units).
Jodi- PMSL at Nina eating your paper! As the others have said you gotta look after yourself, I understand how you must be feeling cause I know I'll be sad when I start weaning Ashleigh. maybe give the bottle in the evening and she might sleep longer? Or does she still like a BF before she goes to sleep?
maz- i don't think I'll be drinking that bottle wine for you. I'm ****ed on 2 glasses! Althogh maybe thw wine in my breast milk might get Ashleigh asleep bit longer... And now you've mentioned twins its in my head that that is what you're going to have, twin girls!

Well one good thing I have to report that is a big deal to me, Ashleigh drank 40mls formula out of her sippy cup yesterday! She has never drank that much and she was putting it in her mouth herself with a little help from me but then got sick of it and wanted the breast. But it is progress I can see the light that maybe Df and I can go out for a dinner and movie in the near future. Thats all i ask for!

Sweets, if anyone has the twins ITS ME! Ok so dont panic :cryinglaugh: Ive had a crap in my pants about the poss of twins seeing as Im feeling so tired already and getting a psuedo-line on HPT already.............Dh would leave me if it were!
Well I did another HPT, different brand (the First Response two line ones) and from what I can see still got a pseudo line sooooooooo I dont know again :pray: Im really hoping Im not going to lose this one either, if I do then I have to go back to OBGYN. If I dont and it sticks then I have to ring and make an appt with him for a scan at 6wks.
Jett woke me up at 5:45 this morning but I just gave him 180mls of a leftover bottle from his last feed yesterday in his sleep and changed his nappy. I then realised that he had pee'd soooooo much his nappy was full and leaked EVERYWHERE. So I just tucked blankets over the mattress and sheets and went back to bed lol I was not going to change sheets at the crack of dawn when he would have me up in a few hours anyway.
Shell, haha you dont want a greedy guts like Jett eating you out of house and home! Im seriously worried about the kid, he still has 5 or 6 240ml bottles of formula AND the solids, and still seems hungry.
Jodi, yay for El Nina drinking formula out of your sippy! Jett has a sippy cup that has a flexible spout sooo he has easily transitioned from bottle to sippy. I hope to have him completely off bottles by September and so far he loves drinking juice out of his sippy. Im going to try him on a proper sippy cup in a few weeks. That is the one thing about formula...............freedom to have a life if you want. That said Im going to atleast breastfeed #2 for 6mths this time, I am not going to pack it in in the first month.
Anywho, off to buy some cloth and have some breaky. Got to go to post office today and cash a lovely sized money order from the inlaws ;) Dh gets off work early today YAY soooooo we might go out to tea tonight or something.

Anna - re forumla, I get lactosen, I think thats how its spelt PG brain kicking in, its Nestles cheaper brand and its great. I had Vy on Nestle gold and she shat green and had tummy aches all the time, I also tried S26 and she couldnt pooh. So im happy with my cheapy brand. $9 at the cheap chemist $13 at the supermarket. Hi guys, sorry dont have time for personals as I have to go get Bella from kindy in a min, just wanted to pop my head in to say to those ladies still BF, even though you dont want to be losing the weight , I am jealous, BF has done nothing for my weight-boohoo. Oh and on a happier note my berryplush came in the mail today, just got to wash it up so that Eithan can wear it. I got him a black one but am hanging out for the rainforest and ocean blue ones. Does the snap in soak alot or do you think I will need an extra booster.

That's a great start Annat! The BBH covers are cheap too, did you see those? Rans really liked using those. Get those, see how you go, and from there you'll be able to figure if you need to buy more, or if you're doing good with that!
