Yeah, just to add to it Rylee is whinging away full-on, has to sleep with us or I will be up all night long, everytime we go to the shops now she just grizzles away.....guess she is gearing up for her first birthday....oh well.....she has a runny nose too so hope she is fine for her party on Sunday.

Anyway, Ness, glad the appointment went well. Sharleen, great Ambah had a good day...Belle - boo hoo to Bakers Delight!!!

Sorry I have missed you gotta save Rylee from herself.

Is it bad that I just breastfed James to sleep? We had a screaming match with him in his cot, something that never happens in the evening. He got himself so worked up, that I picked him up. That didn't work so I put him on the boob. Asleep in 5 mins. Don't know if he will stay down though.

I really don't want to keep resorting to the booby, coz what happens when I want to fully wean? What do I do then? I know the *experts* say not to get him up, not to pat to sleep fully, not to breastfeed - let him cry and go in every few mins, but when he is that distressed I just can't leave him.

Then my anxieties start because I am not doing the right thing, and I keep thinking what if tonight is the start of a new habit, and that he will never want to go down in the evenings.

Anyway sorry this is such a *me* post. Wishing everyone a great evening.

Meg, until I weaned Rylee at 10 months I would ALWAYS breastfed her to sleep - now she is on the bottle, sometimes she will fall asleep at night on the bottle, sometimes it takes me walking around with her on my shoulder to get her to sleep - she wakes less during the night than she did (only usually once) becuase she knows she won't be getting booby anymore. Yeah, it is hard work listening to your bub cry and don't listen to the experts they aren't in your house with a screaming bub and a mum who is dead tired - do what works for you and James - I don't let Rylee get into that hysterical crying anymore because my sanity isn't worth it - your doing the right thing by listening to what your bubs wants, don't doubt your parenting style - you are doing a fantastic job`. All this stuff about bad habits - if the time comes and you wean him and he needs booby you just need to go down another path - you havn't done the wrong thing gotta go, got a whinger on my hands

Wow Kel - That must be some Elmo cake!!! I wanna see pics of this labour of love. Oh woo hoo on the first hair cut, it's gonna be ages before Xander will need one.

Laurin - How's your cake coming along? What's causing you stress?

Meg - I used to breastfeed Xander to sleep at night. In honesty, we had no trouble at all once we weaned him (and he was a real boob monster)... once the bottle was introduced, he had his last milk feed at dinner time, thus not forming a sleep association with the bottle. If he needed to suck himself to sleep, I gave him a bottle of water. He didn't really want it, but he didn't cry either; so it worked for us as if he got desperate he could suck on the water bottle.

    Big hellos to everyone.

Had a fantastic day today. My AF finally arrived, albeit two weeks late. Xander was in day care today and he had a fabulous time. I'm all refreshed and relaxed, the house is clean, and I feel like I will be a much better mummy to my son now I've had some time out.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY AINSLEIGH!!!

Well I've called in sick to work cause Ash was ratbag last night then after all that decided she wanted to get up at 6:30. So been bit cranky.

Chrissy- Ash and Caity must've decided to play up together, how is she this morning?

Anna**- so its back from vanatu, when do you start the clomid?

Kell- I can't wait to see this cake. After all the work you've put in you won't want to eat it!

Meg- I agree with what the others have said, once you do wean he'll realise that its not there to sleep on anymore and will just have his bottle or whatever. I feed Ash last thing at night and sometimes she falls asleep other times she is still awake when she goes down it all varies. If she does get really unsettled then I offer the breast but lately I've noticed when she's in one of those moods it doesn't work anymore she still cries after I put her down. So if it works its a good thing!

Laurin- Hows the cake working out for you?

I am devastated today, Ness you'll be happy, Adelaide won last night which means saints can't make it to the finals! It makes me want to not watch any more footy now!

Thanks girls for your advice. Sometimes I think that i just need reassurance to know that I am doing the right thing. Babies don't come with a manual!!!!

Rach - poor pet. Hope he feels better today.

Shell - Don't you think that it is great being able to call up work all cheerful and say that you need the day off coz the baby is sick? It would make faking a sickie so much easier.

Kell - good on ya for the Elmo cake. I have decided that I am going to attempt to make James a train cake from the womens weekly recipe book. I am going to decorate it like "James" from Thomas the Tank Engine. If it is a disaster, it will be a quick trip to the bakery.
