Babies Born In September 2006

WOW Anna, that is great news re the weight gain. It really does fell good when you can manage to have your baby put on wieght and be healthy all thanks to you. With Bella BF didnt put weight on her so I had to formula top up, so to have Eithan put on weight by just having booby milk is great. So I am so happy for you.
Adele, sending you lots of labour vibes, goodluck jumping the hubby.
Maz what a beautiful little sleeper you still have there. How are the boys coping having her around, especially Wilhelm. Thanks for saying Eithan is cute, I think so too but maybe I'm just biased. But then again I think all of the babies here are adorable. We are one lucky bunch of mummies.
My hair is thickening up, ugh. I was lucky enough to have it thin out during pregnancy but now it is coming back. I have really thick hair.

Eithan is feeding constantly and is having wind pains etc. Just wondering how do you count the hrs between feeds? I count from the start of one feed to the start of the next. Dh is doing a good job at the moment of calming him, but I think he is ready for a feed again. Less than 1/2 hr after coming off the boob sound asleep, go figure. I guess he is really putting on the weight now, might get him checked again soon. I am thinking of taking a weekly photo of Bella and Eithan and updating my ticker accordingly.

Well must go. Got to do the milk run again.

Oh forgot to say something funny happened today. Was changing Eithans nappy and just as I lifted his legs to put some cream on his bum he started peeing. It got him on the cheek and above his head, then I lowered him and it went straight past me and got Bella who stood there screaming in horror. It was so funny I was dumbstruck and took me a few moments to think to cover his doodle up. Good news though he missed his clothes so I didnt have to change them.

Helen - Xander was (still is!) trying to feed 2 hourly... at one stage it was hourly! We are now trying to slowly stretch out his feeds to 3 hourly as we know he is gaining enough weight to not cause any probs by doing so and I honestly wouldn't mind a longer break between feeds. At the moment, we are stalling his feeds by 15 minutes, once he is used to that, we'll add another 15 minutes until we get to 3 hourly feeds. The MCHN suggested that *possibly* I was contributing to the wind as he was feeding so often and I have such a fast letdown that causes him to gulp. I'll let you know how we go, so far Xander is pretty stroppy in those 15 minutes!
Oh and you are counting the time between feeds right. LOL at the rogue doodle incident... our little man got himself in the face the other day as I wasn't quick enough with the new nappy, was not happy!

helen - thanks for the lb vibes. i was getting some pains last night but nothing happened. simon offered to do the deed but i just cried and went to sleep he said this morning that i mustnt be that far away if i cried about doing the deed lol.
LOL at eithan peeing everywhere my brother did that to me when i was watching mum change him lol.

Anna- good luck on the feeding plan you have hope it works and stops him being sick. Simon was like that as a kid and had to be put on medication which he is still on from it. Hope Alexander isnt that bad. Good luck.

just a quick post to say i am here as i am nursing my angel in my arms. she is doing really well, even though she needs a 50ml top up after every feed. the last few nights she finishes feeding about 11pm and that's it till about 7.30am.... which is now so I better go and feed her. will work at getting some pics up soon... just no time! thinking of you all

Adele - It's only a very rough feeding plan, if he is really hungry and distressed I'm not gonna make him hold out. But I do hope it works too!!!

Helen - I count from the start of the feed aswell. Oh the lact nurse told me that a dumby can help with wind. I though yeah bull but it works with Vyolett. If I cant get her wind up, I pop her dumby in her mouth and within 5 mins she's letting on rip. Oh as for Wilhelm, thanks for asking mate, He loves her to death. He keeps asking her to come and play with him. We know that he excepted her to because he was writing her name at kinder on friday which spun out his kinder teacher.
O.M.G Rikki - you truely have a little angel there sleeping from 11pm until 7.30 am. Im so happy you found your way here hon and that everything is beautiful for you.
Adele - Im still waiting woman. Get on the bl))dy trampoline and jump babe, jump that bubba out of there!
I had to put Vyolett to sleep in her cot today so I could change her sheets and blankets in her bassinet. She looks so tiny its not funny.

Just popping in to hear all the baby gossip. Won't be too much longer til I join you all. I'm due today but no signs yet, the most I'll have to wait is 10 days to be induced. I have Ob appt mon and if haven't gone by then I'll tell him to book me in for next Wed or Thurs, that'll be 7-8 days past, plenty of time to let her come naturally.
Anna- I can't believe Alex is almost a month old! That time has just flown.

Snap Maz- I was going to mention the dummy thing too.

Anna-If you have no objections to giving Alexander a dummy I would definantly try it. When we had Bella we were told that when babies get pains or wind etc all they want to do is suck. However the sucking-getting more milk, can quite often make the problem worse. We tried numerous dummies with her however she wouldnt take any off them. The next best thing is to give bubs to hubby as they cant smell the milk and to try and get him to settle him another one I was told by the clinic sister was to try and distract them, by taking them for a walk putting them in a baby carrier etc. Nothing worked for me with Bella unfortunately. But you never know, some babies are just the way they are, we had a hard 1st year with Bella, it does get better though.
With Eithan we took a dummy to hospital with us and he is taking it. But dont worry if bubs is truly hungry there will be noway that he will take a dummy and if he does like Eithan will spit it out after about a min and continue screaming. It's taken awhile to figure this whole thing out but with patience and support from DH it is starting to get better. We try to get Eithan to 3hrs and dont really like to let him go past 5hrs(yeah right havent even had that issue yet). That's what we were told from the midwife anyway as he was having weight issues(not enough). Although now I am just going to let him sleep as long as he wants, with his jaundice nearly gone I am sure he will wake when he is hungry.

Maz-Glad to hear that Wilhelm is getting on so well with Vyollete. How stoked were you about him writing her name? That is such great news to hear.

Riki-Welcome. Sorry to hear that you had problems with Ansleigh's weight. Glad to hear that it is all sorted now and that she is having top ups. I had the same thing with Bella. Plus it gives you the chance to have a rest while DH feeds her the top up.

Well so far the girls are great sleepers and the boys are hungry feeders. I wonder if this trend will continue.

Eithan is asleep. I put him in a cotton sleeping bag and then wrapped him and he seems so content. He vomited over practically the whole front and sleeve of his growsuit so I had no choice but to change him. He didnt scream though so that's good. I have figured out the nappy changes now. He is in disposables so I put a clean one under him then chnage him and quickly put the new one over his doodle as the old one gets taken away, so far, so good.

Well ladies time to clean the house and get tea prepared while I have the chance.

helen p - like how you have this nappy changing thing worked out im going to try that method lol. akira never did pee everywhere when i changed her lol only when simon did hhaha.

Anna - good luck with anything you try. I did the dummy thing with akira as well just forgot about that one lol. there is also some stuff you can get from the chemist called infant friend i think its called that i will ask my friend her little boy has bad reflux and wind problems . and he is only 2 wks old the midwife told her about it.

I dont know about peeing but Vyolett has a bad habit of just pooing when you go to put the new nappy under her bum :(. Oh and its that lovely yellow runny pooh. Thank god it doesn't smell like formula poo did.
Helen - it took us to have Vyolett to finally have a baby that is content. Nikolaus had the reflux and screamed and screamed with it from day dote. Wilhelm just screamed no matter what I did (we now know why) and Vyolett is just happy sleeping, eating and poohing. I told Jed that if she keeps this up I'll be wanting number 4 but knowing our luck we'll get another screamer so Im not pushing it. Three's a nice little number.
Anna - Lucky im still wearing a pad cause I peed myself with you 'A' comment. I'll lend you my milk jugs babe, a bloody F and still growing :o ahhhhhhh
Shell - I cant believe your still pg, especially since we were due on the same day, today. Jed's nan was a bit upset cause its her 95th birthday today and it would have been nice pressy for her..but she's just happy we're all ok.
Better go and organise tea as my worms are biting. Im so hungry now. Such a change from being pg when I couldn't eat anything.
OH Domi nurse came and weighed Vyolett..she's put on 110grams since last thursday. Dom nurse was really happy with that. only 50 grams more and she's back to her birth weight. Changes Vyolett's ticker pic too. Jed took this one the other night. He called it her mug shot.

Thanks with the suggestions of the dummy girls. I'm not against trying things, so all advice/ideas appreciated. He is sort of taking a dummy... it has taken me nearly a week of persistantly holding it in his mouth. Even so, he spits it out heaps.

Another September Mummy popped. Hopefully we'll see Ambz over here real soon!

Aha! So this is where you are! What's the date today...the 13th? Give me 3 weeks I reckon. Just to cheer you about what you're all missing out on, I'll have to cut this short cos I have to take something for my heartburn and pee as well. :p

I am so not missing the awkwardness of carrying Vyolett around but Im mising my baby bump to rub and talk too.
Thanks for putting my mind at ease with the excess intake of food Anna..I just polished of a jam donut and a tin of peach slices...Im really considering eating a snitzel sanga now with heaps of lettuce. Oh another thing for the wind situation. Ive been told to really watch what I eat cause it goes straight to bub. No cabbage, onion or anything that causes gas or tummy upsets normally. You could try laying Alexander on his tummy and giving him a massage to pass the gas. Its a good bonding thing to do aswell mate. Ive been using J&J night time massage oil with lavender. Its smells really yummy and helps Vyolett with her skin cause its dry.

Just a quick question ... everyone talks about having an increased appetite while b/f, I don't have an appetite at all! I have to remind myself to eat most of the time. Is this normal? I'm worried my milk will decrease if I don't start eating. Is there any particular food you should be eating while b/f?

Hmmm... I was like that for about the first week Jodi-Lee, then I got an appetite that would rival any guy! I really don't think that it would impact your breastmilk as long as you are eating at least your main meals and drinking heaps of water (at least it didn't in my first week anyway).
Maz - I'm being pretty careful about what I'm eating, and so far.. lengthning the time between his feeds is actually looking like it's working. He is actually sleeping better between the feeds as well... prolly cos he has less gas. Twice today, he had a 3 hour gap between feeds as he was asleep! Fingers crossed it stays this way.

I love the smell of that J&J oil but cannot use it on Xander as it (and every other J&J product) is making him peel! ewwwwww. So using Gaia stuff now as it hasn't got mineral oil in it which I think might be the problem... smells devine!

Jodi-Lee - not sure about particular foods. I'm sure eating properly and healthily is what I SHOULD be doing. No chance of that lately with so little time to cook anything decent. I'm still taking the Blackmores' Preg & BF'ing tablets as well as extra calcium, so maybe that is helping????

Yeah Jodi-Lee not too sure what is the right thing to eat. I am sure if you rang the breadtfeeding place they could let you know what your reccommended daily intake of stuff should be.

I have managed to give Eithan a bath and dress him without a single whimper. Usually when I take him out he screams, but tonight DH wrapped him immediately and I got some baby lotion out and gave him his first baby massage. He loved it. Well he is asleep now so I think I will go to bed. Sleep lovely ladies and babies!

its fantastic that you worked out Alexander quickly with the longer gap thing between feeds. Im going to get some of the Gaia stuff payday cause little miss moo has come out in a rash. She's feeding every 2 hours through the day since yesterday. its the 2 week growth spurt thing.
Helen - Eithan must be getting use to his baths. I would have felt so proude at him not crying. Great job mate, I bet you went to bed with a smile on your face. Oh I read your birth story too hon. I cried, sorry but I sort of felt alot of what you said. Leave that behind you now mate, think happy thoughts.
Jodi - Im using a pg multi vitamin also and just basically eating my 5 vegies and 2 fruit minimum a day. Oh and im drinking heaps of milk.
Best be heading, only have Vyolett home this morning so I want to make the most of it then we have to go to the hospital and do the heel ***** test again cause the nurse stuffed the first one, then off to the health nurse at 2. i'll ge a breather in there somewere????

don't know how I managed it but had a great sleep last night with Nina going to bed at 8:30 and waking midnight, 3am & 6am for a feed only!! Now she's wide awake so trying to do the one hand typing thing.
I have been taking a preg multi and trying to eat my 5 veg 2 fruit, and drinking heaps of water. Hopefully that's enough. She's getting weighed next Monday so I'll know if I've got enough milk for her then.

Helen - It really sounds like Eithan and Alexander have lots in common! Xander used to hate his baths too, but is now actually starting to really enjoy them. So much nicer now we have a way to relax/settle the little guys.

Well, haircut time for me today!!! I'm gonna be brave. LOL. Will let ya know how I go as well as any updates from Bel.

We had the heel pric test done again but they did it in her hand this time. She didn't cry as much and nearly slept through it. I think I was more teary than her. Have decided to express for the next day or two cause my nipples are killing me. I told the health nurse who we just saw and she said it was a good idea cause of all the feeding miss moo is doing. They also stuffed up her measurments at hospital. Here I am thinking she's 56cm long but she only measured 51cm today. I thought she was to small to be 56cm. Vyolett also has a bad rash but I think its my fault cause i keep dressing her to warm. Ive just got a body suit on her now, one with now legs and its not as red and nasty looking. We just walked back from the clinic and my god I have a stitch and a half. Jed's getting a service on the car so I thought I'd walk down with WIlhelm. God shoot me, nah only joking, its to nice of a day to be sitting inside.
Have to go hang my washing and start getting tea organised oh cant wait to see how you get your hair cut Anna. Im hanging to go to the hairdressers. I told Jed as soon as that money comes thrugh, im there.

I did it! I cut my hair!!! woo hoo.. feel so much lighter now, and I love the new cut. I uploaded a piccy to my homepage (bit of a dodgy one, but you get the idea. Will post a nicer one later). It was so nice just to get out of the house and pamper myself minus baby for a few hours. DH gave him a bottle of EBM which he took really well (yay!) - I guess I've finally found a teat he will take. Pigeon Peristalic ones... he hated the Avent, Pur and Tomee Tippee ones.

Maz - Glad the pric test went better this time! You shrunk your baby! LOL... can't believe they stuffed up her measurements.

Anna** I know when I cut my hair off I felt sooo much better. Haven't been to the hairdresser since having Nina, though I'm due to go. I'm going to have a wax tomorrow so I feel a bit more normal.

Well we got our baby bonus through today so feel a little richer (for now anyway) it'll probably be spent within the week!!

LOL Jodi-Lee... the Gov must've been handing out money today. I got my bonus too! yay... shame it was already spent months ago (gotta love credit until you gotta pay it back)

so you girls that have there baby bonus, how long did it take from when you put your forms in, till when you got it?

still struggling with milk supply... which is really starting to frustrate me. DH has just gone down to buy me some natural supplements which a mw friend recommended... along with the drugs i am already taking. plus i have to wake ainsleigh up for feeds as she is not gaining weight. she has only put on 40g since leaving the hospital. :( the chn is coming back on monday to weigh her again, then i am going to the bf clinic to see a lactation consultant on wed. fingers crossed we have some success!

glad you love your new do anna**.... i too am off to the hairdressers this afternoon... can't wait!

are any of you girls having probs with swollen feet? i still can't get any shoes on. i had to go shopping in my ugg boots on a glorious 25 degree day. how embarrassing! i bought some cheap slip ons from target yesterday, so at least i have one pair of shoes i can wear.... apart from those two whinges, everything going great here!

Oh Rikki I had swallen feet after having Vyolett and can totally relate babe. I went shopping in my slippers which are floro pink simpson ones. YEs I did get funny looks too. We got swallen feet cause its a side effect from having a c/s. Keep them moisturised cause if they swell to much they can stretch your skin and cause horrible cracks hon.

Nat - im not going to winge that my boobies are hurting any more. You poor chicken. BIg hugs for you.

I put on a pair of pants today that I haven't worn since befroe I was pg and theyre to big. I am totally wrapped about that seeing I was a size 22-24 before falling pg. My tummy is nearly gone bar as said before for my gunt, which I have feeling in a gain. I had no feeling in the lower part of my tummy after my tubual reversal and now I can feel everything there again. I dont know which I liked better.
I expressed until last night with miss moo and found that the break did my nipples a world of good. Now she's back on there properly and feed at 12.30am then at 4.30am and again at 9am. But through the day she just wants it all the time. I topped her up with 60 ml of formula at 2 this afternoon and now she's finally asleep and I can do some washing.
So until later cause Im gonig to enjoy this sun shine with the kids (YAY for school holidays NOT!)

Rikki I had swollen feet at the end of my pregnancy and it took a good 2 weeks for them to go. Its only been a couple of days since they're mostly back to normal. I also went shopping with my slippers on - lucky I still look pregnant, LMAO!!!!! Pregnant people can get away with anything.

Maz, woohoo for the weightloss. What an inconsiderate bloody gunt you have there,. You think it could have waited until after your incision healed to get some feeling back. Is it holidays there already? We've still got another 2 weeks I think.

Yes I had mastitis really badly. I passed out yesterday and had a fever of 39.2. AGONY!!!!! I think I've just about come out the other side though. My poor little boy has lost 700g since he was born so I went to Kmart this morning and bought an expressor to try and increase my supply. RIKKI what supplements are they?
