Babies Born In September 2006

Chrissy, I lodged mine on 3rd September. I got my baby bonus plus FTB payments through this week.
Rikki, I also had swollen feet for a week after having Nina. Fortunately it does go away after time!
Anna** I know what you mean about time flying by, Nina is 4 weeks old on Sunday and I don't know where the last 4 weeks have gone!!

Well I got my wax today, had lunch with mum and DH took the day off so got to spend some quality time with him. All in all a very nice day. Nina went 7 hours between a feed last time, so I got a great sleep. Somehow I've managed to get her to sleep now, which is when she normally goes through her 'witching hour', so hopefully she won't be up all night.

Chrissy - I lodged mine on the 16th of August and only just got it now... maybe they do them in big batches or something.

Jodi_Lee - bet it was nice to get some pampering! I loved getting my hair done... made me feel somewhat connected back with the world again. The last four weeks have been such a blur of feed/comfort/nappies etc, etc.

How the heck do you lot manage to get such awesome breaks between feeds!!? I must have the biggest pig for a baby. All he wants to do is eat and trying to delay his feeds is certainly trying.

Rikki - I hope your supply comes in/increases soon. How was the hairdressers? Did you do something drastic?

Maz - Congrats on the weight loss!!! I'm with Nat, bloody inconsiderate gunt you have. Glad to hear the milk bar is fully operational again.

Nat - Happy to hear you are on the mend after the mastitis. I've not had it, but it sounds damn painful. What pump did you buy? I just got the Tommee Tippee one on clearance from $89 down to $29... it works really well! I've been told the Avent is the best tho.

So happy to hear the news about Belle!

Anna - Ive been giving Vyolett a top up of ormula (only 20 - 30 ml) in the afternoon other wise Im there all night and its hard enough when its just you and DH but when your got 2 other kids....its hair pulling material.
Jodie - PMSL at the witching hour' comment. I can totally relate. I lodged my paper work on the monday after having Vyolett and my family payment is due tomorrow..I wonder if I'll get it them (ha ha) it will all go on bills anyway. I had to have the brakes replaced in my ford explorer. I really dont want to know how much that is going to cost me yet.
Nat - snap on shopping with slippers on. I did the same. I went with Jed and picked NIkolaus up in my pj's but I stayed in the car. Some of the mum's came over for a sticky and yes I was srung bably. Its one for the 'memories' albulm.
Rikki - Im just as bad as Anna what did you get done to your hair? Did you go wild and get funky bright foils? Nah only joking I bet you look beautiful any way.
Better go and say my congrats to our new september mum. Its all too exciting still. I still cant believe that Im a mummy again. OH on the weight lose, I was missing my baby belly until I realised im skinnier now. YAY for me! Sorry but i find it hard to lose weight so the best diets I ever do on are falling pg. lol .

Anna** that was a bargain on the pump. I got the Avent Isis from Kmart for $99. It works well, but I'm hoping to not have to use it much. I feel a bit like a cow sitting there milking myself, lol. I just have to get this breast clear again after the mastitis.

LOL Nat on the cow comment... that exactly how I feel. Hmmmm, most of the time I feel like I should be wearing a big bell and going 'moo'!!! I mainly express to get rid of excess and keep some for the freezer as back-up for DH.

just a quick note as missy is not behaving and won't go back to sleep after her 3am feed... which is a real pain as i have to wake her up to feed, then she refuses to settle again. nothing drastic with the hair girls, just touching up the blonde as i am a bridesmaid in three weeks. also got the eyebrows waxed and eyelashes tinted. the hairdresser was running late, so i ran next door with my head in foils to have my eyes done. i must have looked a sight!

nat, the supplements are fenugreek. my gf who is a mw said the only side effect she has ever had is thick sweating (like honey was her description) but i will let you know how they go. i am also taking motilium which is an anti nausea drug which helps increase supply.

am going to check out your hair now anna, sure it is beautiful. the biggest spin for you will be when you wash it for the first time... you'll be like, where is my hair!

oh yeah, forgot to add that i finally uploaded some pics to Ainsleigh's website if you want to have a peek at my gorgeous girl.

LOL Anna** DH calls me the milk truck and says Nina should ring the bell when she's hungry!!
As for going so long in between feeds at night, I have no idea how I did that! I think she's just starting to realise the difference between night and day. Last night she fed roughly every 5 hours, and during the day she feeds 2-3 hourly. Between 4 & 8 she just feeds and feeds and feeds!! A couple of times we've given her a bottle of formula at night as I'm way too exhausted, but we've only had to do that about 4 times.

rikkik hope your milk supply is increasing. Nina lost a bit of weight in the days after I had her as my milk took 5 days to come in. She was back to her original birth weight at day 9. But in that time I had to wake her every 3 hours to feed.

Jodi_Lee - DH calls me a 'vending machine'! Little Nina was a very good girl to let her mummy sleep so long! Last night Alexander slept for a block of 4 hours which was just totally awesome.. I felt like I had slept for a week. Shame that my bbs flooded the bed due to a missed feed!

Rikki - Yep, washing my hair for the first time was weird. There was so much less hair to wash! but brushing it was even funnier... I kept running out of hair to brush. lol. I had a look at your web page. Your little girl is a stunner (even if she is a bit naughty)!

Rikki - just had a look at your site - I LOVE YOUR BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES!!! And your daughter is soooo pretty. She looks like a real 'little girl'. I want one,lol. And your little cake bride and groom made me laugh - I think because the groom was bald, lol. They're brilliant. I have heard of Fenugreek - will have to get some because my supply is quite low.

Anna** when I cut my hair off The biggest thing for me was brushing. I would keep going rright down my back - DH called it airbrushing.

Hi girls,im here!!! I hear you on the problems with b/f.Ruby awake most nights and i wonder if she is getting enough.Though i think she is using me as a dummy sometimes as she gets on and latches then nothing.So i put her back to bed and then she cries.
Durin the day she is not so bad. I cant use a dummy as i tried last nite and she gagged.A good thing i suppose.I may have to ring the ABA clinic too for a check. Better go she is crying and then DD starts to be upset too.

Hi ladies, sorry no personals today. I have a few personals I want to do, but will do them another time when I am no so exhausted.

Well last night I managed 2 1/2 to 3hrs sleep. Eithan finally went down at 3am and then started to wake at 6am. The problem is his reflux. He vomited 5 times in 45min last night and we had to change his clothes and the bassinet sheets. I am going to have to buy some more sheets as I cant keep up with him. Also he has been wearing 000 everynow and again as he keeps going through his clothes.
The main problem though is that he is now starting to vomit out if his nose aswell. Thick stuff and getting his nose clogged which makes it hard for him to breathe and causes him and us heaps of distress. Then he screams and screams due to the pain.
I feel so sorry for him I could just cry. I feel bad everytime I feed him as I know he will be sick again, but I cant not feed him. Augh I am just not having a good time at the moment. I also think that I have dislocated my left thumb or something similar. It has been really hurting for days and today it is clicking in and out and soooo painful. I have had some panadol, so we'll see.

oh Helen... sorry to hear you are having such a rough time with little Eithan. It is just so horrible when you see them in pain and can't do anything about it.

My little guy has a manky eye... dunno what he has done, but this morning when he woke it was all gunked up and stuck together. I've been squirting breast milk on it and wiping eye with saline. If it doesn't clear in a couple of days, it's off to the doc.

Helen - is there some medicine that your doctor can give Eithan for his reflux or is he still too little? God woman you cant go on like this, you'll be a blubbering mess! Do you have anyone that can stay at your house so you can catch up on some sleep? And your not moaning hon, we're here to support each other rememeber? I hope that when you read this that yourve had some sleep and rest. Big hugs for you babe.

Anna - I would have never thought of putting bb milk in the eye. What a bloody good idea. See Your not only beautiful but bloody smart too.

Yay Caddie- your finally here woman. Vyolett uses my bb as a dummy so I bought the smallest one I could get. Its an Avent one and its tiny I had too cause she was driving me spare!

Little P had her baby boy today. He has no name as yet but i'll keep eveyone posted. Sounds like alot of the girls in the september forum are going to drop their bubba's this week with all the pains their having. Lets hope that they find their way here.

The bb milk is helping! His eye is just so much better today...
We had super rough night last night. Xander was in so much pain from wind etc and kept throwing up, yet wanting more milk so screaming. I caved in and gave him the extra feed and it just made it all worse; so nobody got any sleep last night in this house! Thankfully he has crashed out now so I'm off to have a nap.

Maz - I've tried the Avent dummy with Xander... it looks huge in his little mouth, gonna try the Pigeon one as no luck with Avent.

I have the mam dummy for ruby but havnt used it much.I dont want to really as my first DD uses dummy's still and i have to wean her!
Ruby did her first big spew last night.I topped her up with fromula and it didnt go down well.She loved it at the time but then 1/2 later a vomit.
I have to take her to be weighed to make sure she is getting enough milk.What is everyone else doing. I tried expressing with advent pump but didnt get much.But that was after a feed.
Poor eithan! Sounds like he is having a rough trot.Hope the little mite gets better.

Caddie.. I'm expressing either during the night *yawn* or first thing in the morning as I am so engorged at that time. I'm only using a Tommee Tippee one, but am getting about 90mls each time... I must admit that it took a bit of getting used to, the first few times I got maybe 10mls! It's a bit of a juggling act, but I found I can get heaps more if I express from the other boob at the same time I'm feeding Alexander (talk about being a milking machine). I'm just freezing it all in those Avent Via cups.

Helen Have you seen a doctor? That must be really scary for you to see him struggling like that. I feel so badly for you. If there is anything that I can do let me know. Also, SIL had really painful clicky thumbs after giving birth as well. They got really bad and she had to have an xray. They thought it was arthritis. I will call her and see what she did to fix it and let you know. I remember she thought she had dislocated it when pushing during labour.

Caddie I thought that was so cute when you said that DD cries when Ruby does, lol. Its probably not too fun for you at the moment, but I thought it was lovely.

Anna** Zain was born with a gooey eye and its not completely gone. I am doing the same though - BB milk and wiping with a saline solution. And re the expressing, I did it and only got about 20ml so gave up. I might have to give it another go if yours increased so much.

Hi Maz, How's Vyolett? I love that ticker photo!

We are just plodding along here. Zain takes a dummy, because I didnt give one to one of my children and she became a thumbsucker. Its much harder to stop - especially at an early age. You also can't sterilise a thumb, lol. Take care girls.

Nat - The instructions that came with my pump actually said that you mightn't get much the first few times (which I never did) but now I've got the hang of it and getting lots more; so I think it would be worth persisting if you wanted to? I know I found that the 'rhythm' I was using to pump was all wrong, but a bit of trial and error I found what works - you have to try to get the pump to do the same action as bub sucking.

Hi ladies, thanks for your thoughts re Eithan he is doing much better at the moment but will get into that more later.

Just popping in quickly to talk about BF and expressing. I had troubles with Eithan in hospital and he had to be admitted to special care as he lost too much weight because my milk didnt come in until day 5-6.
I would breast feed him both sides and then express from each breast. Next feed he would get breast, then about 10-15ml of expressed breast milk and then a 30-40ml top up of formula. Then after doing that I would express again for next feed. It was done to encourage Eithan to BF and to get my milk to build up, yet he was still getting the top-ups to put on weight. A midwife also told me to keep expressing a bit after you dont get anymore to encourage the breast to produce more. Also to swap sides and then to go back to the other side to see if I could get more again.
Eithan was a very sleepy baby so we had to encourage him to feed. We'd take off the bottom of his grow suit, tickle under his chin, rub his palms etc. Also he would go from left breast to right breast, then left and right again as moving would wake him up and also encourage breast milk. It was extremely exhausting but it really did help with my breast milk.

hi girls... that regime is exactly what i had to do helen... plus the tablets as well. unfortunately for me it has not worked. now i have developed mastitis as well.... so think this is it for me. as soon as i have managed to work this lump out of my breast i am giving up on bf. at the moment we are having to 'top up' ainsleigh with about 80ml of formula... which is about how much she should be taking in total right now.

the chn comes again today. she has def grown, so hopefully she has put on enough weight for everyone to be happy. she was still a fair way off her birth weight.

hope eithan's reflux is improving, and that xander's eye is no longer manky!

nat - i bought ainsleigh a bib when i was in the hospital that says 'i have more hair than my dad!' the lady in the shop laughed so much when sam walked in and she saw his completely shaved head :D

Well i took ruby to the clinic to check her weight.The clinic scales are slightly out but she is the same.No weight on!! So instead of having her on the boob for an hr like i have been i have to feed ruby for 15min and then top up with EBM and formula.I have to express 6 times in a 24hr hr period.She hasnt been having alot of wet nappies either.And when they observed a b/f said she didnt have a very good go at it! So i am reviewed in 2 days by a nurse at home and take it from there.
Millana seems better ith the baby but has moments of her wanting to be the baby and she is in "i want" stage and tantrums if she doesnt.
Oh well i better rest while i can.
Maz i sent a small gift for vyolett today,i also tried to send pics of the buckets but being sent back all the time.So i can describe the paper if you like!!!!

Took Nina to the clinic nurse today for her one month check up and she's put on 1kg since birth. I'm really happy about that as she lost a bit in the first few days and took a week to get back to her original birth weight. She's really playing up tonight, has been since 3pm. Just really sooky. DH is going out tonight to play touch football so I'm left with her, again!! My back, shoulders and arms are sooo sore from holding her for so long. Hopefully she'll settle soon.

i had a visit from the chn today, and ainsleigh has put on 300g, so she is finally back at her birhtweight. thank goodness! had ultrasound done on my bb's today too, so they feel a lot better, but still have a massive lump. have to keep feeding her on that side to get rid of the lump, then i am swapping to bottle feeding only. i am only producing about 20ml even with all the expressing, tablets etc... i feel like i have done everything i can to make this work....but i am still sad to let it go.

Just quickly. Riki-dont feel bad at all for going to the bottle for Ainsleigh it is obviously the best option for both of you and you will both be much happier this way. All the best hun hope that you clear that lump soon.

we're having so much fun trying to bf at the moment. Vy wont latch on my left side and im about pull my hair out! Ive been formula feeding of a night time (top ups) and expressing at about 9pm at night so that she has milk for through the night. She sucks me dry in the afternoons with the continuous feeding. i didnt even have time to go to the loo yesterday. Im getting snappy to the boys and jed has gone back to work (thank god) he was driving me spare. then my breast pump snapped in 2, the car battery went flat and my eyebrows look like catterpilars have taken up residence!

My breast pump broke! Not happy jan... it looks ok, but seems to have lost it's suction. Had to hand express as I was so engorged that i had lumps in my bbs, took bloody ages!

Maz - Alexander went through a week or so of pretty much non stop feeding, he seems to be slowly spacing the feeds out again now. I love that outfit that Vyolett is wearing (your ticker pic!)

Ruby wont latch on my left side either.I will wait till tommorow and decide if b/f is still the way to go.Its bloody difficult.
Rikki,i know how u feel as with my first i needed to bottlefeed as i wasnt producing enough.I felt bad. Now i have this choice too.I think i have enough but ruby is not taking enough.Arghhh

Anna- I agree Xander and Eithan do seem to have quite a bit in problem, like with the reflux and wind pains. How is it all going? Has it settled down a bit at all? I havent checked out anyone's pics yet as am on dialup but I hear that your hair is good, I am glad that you feel so much better for having had it done. How is Xander's manky eye? I hope that Xander had a good weight gain today. I cant believe that your breast pump broke!! so unfair, you poor thing having to do it by hand.

Maz- You cried reading my birth story, wow that makes me cry. I didnt think I had written down in the right words to express how I felt, but obviously I did. I am coming to terms with the whole thing now, I just have to remind myslef everynow and again that I am not a bad mother for not wanting to hold him or look at him while I was being tugged and pulled etc. I hope that your boobies are not too sore, little Vyolett obviously loves them, although not the left side at the moment. Augh I cant believe your breast pump broke aswell, not good! Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time at the moment. I hope things turn around for you soon.

Well all is good here. Eithan is still vomiting after feeds etc. I have read about reflux on the main BellyBelly website so I am going to try and stay away from the certain foods it says there and hopefully that will help.
He smiled today for the first time. Well the first time that I could say, that is definantly a smile not a windy one. I was talking to him while he was in his rocker and as I started to unclip him to take him out he smiled. Made me so happy, he obviously likes his cuddles from mummy.

Enough for now, better get a morning snack sorted for Bella before Eithan wakes up.

Just when I thought I had her sussed out she decides to change on me!! She's constantly crying and feeding. She started at about 2.30 yesterday afternoon through to 8pm. Then started again at 9am, still going. When she cries it's just sort of whingy, doesn't look like she's in pain. Is this normal? She has been so good up until now.

JOdi - I dont know whats normal any more. This whole BF thing is so new to me and Im with Caddie - If its not working by friday, bring on the bottles!
Helen - im so glad that things are looking up for you babe after everythikng yourve been through. Its makes mine and Vyoletts problems seem so little. Big warm hugs for you babe. Im so jealous that Eithan is smiling already. I love their first smiles, it just melts your heart.
Rikki - you gotta do whats right for you and bub. Dont worry about what other people are going to say...F**K them! Dont think that your being a bad mum either, your putting ainsleigh first not any once else. I had that same problems with Nikolaus and he turned out fine (well I hope he did lol ).
Anna - I had to super glue my breast pump all together. I refuse to buy a new one. Oh the outsfit is one Vy's aunty Katie bought her from pumpkin patch. Its still way to big but I cant help but dress her up a little after 2 boys. I bought her a sterling silver bracelet that swims on her hand unless he do it up really tight. OH im starting to love having a little girl.
thanks for letting us know about Shell. We'll all be in here soon. Then the headaches will start lol with trying to keep up.
of to read a mag while Vyolett is down for a sleep and the boys are playing playstation for an hour. I need some me time after going shopping by ourselves for 2 hours. It was wonderful without Jed. I lov ehim but he drives me nuts!

Thanks Maz, you go for it. Dress her up as much as you like. I kinda miss having a little girl when I see all the cute little things in shops. You can put much more on a baby girl, boys dont have a lot of options.

Hello girls!

What a bunch we are! I can remember a few weeks ago when we were dying to get 'em out and now we're all having problems.

I'm comping Zain and now my supply is dwindling. I'm determined to stick with it but its just so hard to find the time. Like when I wake up in the morning, I am straight into it. I have to make milos for my kids, change nappies for 3 kids Zain, DS (2yrs) and 4 yr old autistic daughter still wears nappy at night. Then its 3 kids ready for school, breakfasts and all the other stuff that has to be done. I find I rush him through the feed because Ive got so much to do. Poor little Zain - as the youngest of 7 I have to make sure he's not going to miss out. And dont even get me started on dinner time, lol.

The only feeds I really get to enjoy are the night time ones where I'm fighting to stay awake, lol.

Apart from that, I honest to God feel like the luckiest woman in the world :)
