Agnes - I totally sympathise with you about the whole in laws staying issue. My MIL is here for two wks and starting to drive me nuts. Isnt it annoying when they think they know better.
Leemar - Are you running a business? My parents have a business and are always complaining about employees. Must drive you crazy!
Noni - Wow been having a big chrissy spend up hey? I'm still yet to start! Teeth already! Poor Bub,.
Cally - I agree with whoever said a messy play area in a childcare center means that they are playing with the kids. At least you know they are having fun there. Its daunting putting bubs into care isnt it. I'm enrolling Maddie for two days a wk starting early next yr, i'm scared. :(
Arte - Aww your poor doggie, but I am the same with my cat now days, no patience! Whoops. He used to be the bubby of the family, not anymore! Gosh you are having some major car issues lately! hope Will is enjoying the jumperoo.
Jazmum - Hope your sister is ok, let us know how she goes.
-
arte - i mever thought of using a pillowthats a great idea!!! ive had a box but its empty n slides around when she pushes off it leaving her feet mid air again lol...
-
Oh I forgot to mention earlier, when I was out shopping today I thought I would have a look in the book shop for the wheres the green sheep book that some of you have.... OMG how expensive are kids books. I had no idea, I have asked for my mum and DH's Aunt to buy Logan books this Christmas it would have cost them an arm and a leg.
-
jazmum, i agree...i think that we've got such good looking babies. honestly. seeing babies when i'm out and about (which isn't really that often), a good number of them are "cute" just because they're babies...but the september bb bubs are the real thing...gorgeous babies. :)
the ante-natal group photo was the first time we caught up. but we've already made plans to do it 1x a month. we'll take turns in hosting...doing it in someone's house. it's just much easier, more relaxed, than going somewhere. AND because someone had started it off that way.
sherie, agree with arte...don't know how you do it. i've only got this one and no job and i can't get the house picked up at all! and dinner doesn't get cooked until DP's home. hope that i'll get as good at mother-ing and multi-tasking as you in time.
hayley, i know. don't really know if i could leave max in day care if i decide to go back ot work. *sigh...but then, i think i'm just a big woos and worry-wart.
-
hi all, just got off the phone from my sis - she has spent the past 7 hours at the hospital - and didn't really get any answers. Her hcg level is 38 - and she is still bleeding a little and has a constant cramp - so it's not looking good. The doctors made her wait because they were going to give her an ultrasound, but then at the last minute decided not to- so she waited around for no reason. Does anyone know of anyone who has had all of these sort of symptoms and still had a normal pregnancy?
hope you're all sleeping soundly :) i'm off to bed now. nighty-nite.
-
Jazmum - I dont have too much info to offer, but when I was 10 wks pregnant I started bleeding very heavily and cramping. I was so sure I was having a miscarriage. The ultrasound proved otherwise though, thank goodness. I hope this is the case for your sister. Its a horrible horrible time wondering if everything is going to be ok.
Katie - Books arent cheap. I got a pile of books for free off the neighbour, excellent!
Well today I got my new steelcraft strider pram, finally. Its great!! Very nifty. I only wish it was red though, MIL got me slate. Although I cant complain really, a free pram is excellent!
I'm a bit worried about Maddie, I weighed her yesterday at just below 6.5kgs. According to her scale thingo, she's a tad overweight. She has no more than 6 180ml bottles a day so I'm not over feeding am I? Mum tells me I am worrying about nothing, apparently all us girls were chubby bubs, but I cant get if off my mind now. I dont want her to be unhealthy iykwim.
-
JaZmum - My neighbour had terrible cramps, bleeding and contractions through her pregnancy and went on to have a healthy little boy Hayden :) He was due 4 weeks after Rory but came 1 week before Rory was born! I could of died by that stage, I was soooooo over being pregnant and here was my neighbour with her little bub before me! I hope everything turns out well for your sister & your family xoxox
Im sad, everyone's bubs seem to be using their jolly jumpers but Rory cant because he wont hold his head up yet :( Although he will lift it up when he is on his belly.
Fianne - Im glad Max didnt have a tough time with her needles. What a brave little girl :)
Sherie - I was wondering where you got to LOL! I know what you mean about the goozie!! Not only do I need to worry about spew when im wearing a nice top but I have to watch out for GOOZIE too! We call Rory the Goozie Monster haha
Hayley - BAH! Dont worry about what the drs etc tell you should be the 'norm' or 'average' every baby is differtnt. Ive been so slack, I have got rory weighed in ageeeees
My brain is fried, ive been so busy today! I bought Rory a t-shirt 'Its darn tough being this cute' haha aww. I better go to bed ive got work tomorrow.
AF arrived today whoohoo ;)
what on earth happened to my name on my ticker!
-
haley - i wldnt worry about it unless shes really overweight iykwim? i think a little bit at this stage is fine.. Asha went through an overweight stage where she was eating alot but then she grew taller n got a little less chubby i am sure shes not unhealthy but if ur really worried u could ask ur mchn or gp maybe?
oh jazmum thats terrible kinda mean not to give her the ultrasound too.. i really hope everything will be ok!!!
-
renee - i bet rory does things asha cant yet too !!! and she dosnt spend long in the jumperoo before shes looking for somewhere to rest her head lol congrats on af i got it yesterday though wasnt so happy to see her lol
-
Hi everyone, haven't had time to read, just wanted to pop on and tell all the Sept Belly Bud's that Bekz has posted her birth announcement! :D YAY!!!!
-
Marydean, I just posted in there. I am so happy for her.
Jaz, I hope your sister was OK overnight. It is so scary when you don't know what is going on and you can't help but think the worst.
Hayley, don't worry about her weight - all babies are different and it takes all sizes to get the 'average' for the growth charts. Mine have all been so very different in their growth and by this age (3mth) they were all fed the same way, but Lindsay was huge at 7.4kg, Erin was only a tiny titch at 5.98 and Paige wasn't much bigger at 6.25kg and I said yesterday that Alister is 6.88kg. Remember too now that the growth charts are now based on exclusively BF babies (not that being FF makes a difference but the *average* BF bub is a bit leaner). You will also find that their growth will really slow down at about 6mths and once they get active and start getting mobile they get a bit leaner too. By the time they start school you won't be able to even tell who was what size in infancy.
Renee, I am happy that you are staying as a trio for a while longer yet ;) I don't even have a jolly jumper, I couldn't even begin to imagine what the other kids would do if I did LOL.
Fianne, of course we all have beautiful babies LOL. That pic of your mums group is really cute. I am far from being a supermum - you should see the pile of washing I have neglected and my bedroom looks like a bomb went off in there. And you will be multi-tasking in no time. I found it so much harder with one than I do 4.
Arte, how has Will been? do you think he's been fussy because you are getting AF?
Marydean, how are things in your neck of the woods hun?
Noni, Asha is a clever little chookie for nearly having a tooth through already.
Katie, don't be alarmed at Logan losing a little bit of weight - sometimes it can be skewed if they have been pooing alot or doing a lot developmentally (moving around more burns up more calories). If it wasn't a huge amount and if he is still having plenty of wet nappies etc then he should be fine - he might even have a big gain next week. But you know him best and if you decide to give him FF to supplement, then just ask if you have any questions ok?
last night I finally finished the slide show DVD I was doing, but my poor old burner was suffering LOL - it's never worked so hard in its like. I also finished putting labels on the preschool class photos. Last night was the best nights sleep I've had in ages - all the stuff I had to do was keeping me awake at night, but I can rest easier now it's done.
Someone mentioned hair yesterday I think (or was it the day before?). Alister is starting to get some fuzzy regrowth now on top where he lost it - the sides are still a bit bare though. I think I am finally on top of the cradle cap problem too as it's not nearly as bad now. With his bottles he has 6 x 160ml, but sometimes he will have more, and other times he wont quite finish the bottle. Don't put pressure on yourselves by what the tin says they should have - if we were BF then we would have no idea how much they would be having. They take what they need at the time to be satisfied. On the subject of teeth, Im not expecting Alister to get any for ages yet - all of mine have gotten them really late - Lindsay was 10mths old when he got his first tooth.
-
So cute - the cat just jumped up on the bed and is purring and looking at the baby. She usually ignores him.
I think W might have a touch of the cold DH and I have had for the past week. His nose is full of boggers. My cousin who is a nanny told me that some people suck them out by mouth, now every time I wipe his nose I think of it and want to gag.
A while ago when I had the leaking Snugglers I was really annoyed and wrote a complaint/hate mail to the company and today on my doorstep was an apology letter and a 30 pack of Huggies. They are made by the same company, and freely admit that snugglers are less absorbant and slower to absorb.
-
Jazmum, how is your sis today? Thinking of you both. xxx
ILs have been behaving themselves, they gave us a night off then came around yesterday and Brought Dinner With Them (Big Green Tick for that one, folks). So relieved as I'm still desperately trying to finish sewing their quilt for Christmas and the evening hours when Missy is in bed is my best time for it.
OK, work Christmas lunch today, Don't know what's wrong with me, but I'm STILL nervous about having to BF around my colleagues. What the...? I'm fearless in any other public arena, it's just at work you've got to be so well, inoffensive. Plus there's a couple of (male) library geeks who I'm sure haven't had too many boob encounters at all in their lives who could potentially have an embarrassment meltdown...*sigh* I'm just not very good at hiding underneath a wrap. The place we're going to has a courtyard though so I spose I can always discretely step out if it comes to that.
Gotta go, Miss E has a pooey bum and you all know what that means!
-
MD - how did you stop Miss E getting gastro when you were sick? DH has come down with it and I'm petrified that I'm going to get it now too!
Hope everyone else is well
Jazmum - my sister had symptoms like that very early on in her pregnancy - turns out she actually had twins and lost one at 5 weeks, but the other one is fine and she is up to week 30. Fingers crossed your sister is OK.
-
Hi everyone ~
I have just about finished organising things for when the girls get here, They're coming on Monday now... It was supposed to be Wednesday, I set them up a bedroom each with all new furniture and everything i thought little girls would like, but they want to share a room so i have to move it all around. ARGH!. lol, they're just so used to being close to each other i guess.
Someone asked what our financial arragement was, Can't remember who - We're going to be financially responsible for them as my brother isn't in the position to help out much at the moment, but he will where he can.
I have to find time to book in for my super dooper birthday make-over, Found out yesterday I'm not allowed to take Scarlet with me :(
I hope your sister is doing okay today jazmum xxx
Hayley, don't stress, Scarlet is MASSIVE - She's still off the scales in length and weight for her age, even on the boy's chart *lol* Apparently i was a porker too! - They lose it all when they start being more active :)
grr, i forget everything else again..
-
MD, I am with you on not being able to feed in front of co-workers. The only person I keep in contact with from work is a guy. We see him and his partner socially every couple of weeks and I just can't feed in front of them. Not even with a wrap cover. Anywhere else is fine, it is just him and BILs/FIL.
Renee, don't worry that Rory can't hold his head up yet. Will is crap at holding his head up on his tummy - from your photos Rory is miles ahead that way. I am sure it won't be far away.
ETA LP, make sure Centerlink are aware you have the kids - nothing worse than parents still getting money for kids they aren't even looking after. You should be eligible for some sort of carers payment to help out.
-
o0o I got a new oven for my birthday too! It's massive, i could cook a pig in it, it takes up like half of my little kitchen lol... I didn't even know it was coming, they showed up yesterday and starting ripping stuff out of the kitchen to put it in, It's funny before PG i would never have been so excited about an oven - I tried put a pic in my gallery 'cause i'm so proud but it wont let me :( It keeps saying 'we do not support this file type yet' so i changed it to all sorts of different ones and it still wont work... anyone know why?
Hm, good point Art - Not sure if we can get anything from centerlink as we have a fair bit in savings and investment property, plus DF may earn too much and we will not be thier legal guardians until the end of
'08 to mid '09... Might have a chat with them anyway.
-
Cally - one word: handwashing. I have the dettol moisturising handwash in every soap dispenser in the house. Make sure you wash these five:
*fronts of hands
*backs of hands
*in between fingers
*thumbs
*wrists
I also went crazy with the pineocleen, and swabbed down the toilet, toilet button, taps and door handles every couple of hours. The other thing you've got to watch out for is not inhaling any vomit droplets if you're in the room when that happens, ie turn your head away and probably a good idea to keep the windows open.
HTH. Don't let your DH suffer too long, take him to the dr for a maxolon shot and get him onto some Gastrostop or charcoal tablets.
ETA - LP -I'm dead jealous of your new oven. Think of us when you bake your first dinner! :D
-
Morning Girls,
Jazmum- I hope your sis is ok. Hugs for both of you.
Hayley- Yes I run my parents and my brothers businesses and our employee's annoy the F#*k out of me.
MD- Yeah on the tick for inlaws you lucky devil...
LP- You are a wonderful person and if you dont find a good ENT specialist we see DR Hodge he has a practice in the city and at redcliffe. He is wonderful. We are going to him today as DH needs a check up
and Xavier needs to see him as he may need gromets, He has had 2 ear infections when puss was coming out of his ear. Dont know how he got them but they say it is very common for kids to have ear infections up to they are 5. Oh I hope he doesnt need gromets then my baby will have to go to hospital...
Hello to everyone and hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Oh and I got some chrissy shopping done too can you believe it. I have Olivia done and only have to get a couple of cars for the boys now and then they are done. Now just have to get everyone elses. OMG Christmas is so expensive and with the boys I get all caught up in all the hype and spend way too much money. DH and I are very excited to see their faces this year. Every year it gets more and more exciting. Jordan is going to squeal with excitment.
RE: big babies: Jordan was a big boy and Xavier was little and everyone use to say to me that Jordan must take all the his brothers food when in actual fact Xavier would drink and eat more than jordan. Then when Jordan start to move around like crawling and walking and now doesnt not stop he has thined down heaps but Xavier is still the little one. It just goes to show that big babies are not a product of overfeeding but its just the way they are. So dont worry about it at all. Olivia is starting to become a little chubber just like Jordy.
-
LP, DH earns $80k and we are still eligible for a bit from centerlink and that is with one baby. I think I get around $160 per fortnight from them.
Centerlink recognises informal custody arrangements, it is really worth checking out.
I just hate to think of their useless mum still getting parenting payments while you are paying for the care of the kids.
-
Oh, cool - thanks ART... I just assumed they wouldn't be able to help us, I will definately go and see them about it, We have just started to get back on track with planning our wedding now so every little bit helps - Hopefully i don't get pregnant & have to cancel everything again this time lol.
-
MD - He is heading to the doctor this afternoon and K and I are going to walk down to the chemist when she wakes up to get him something. We have separate bathrooms and I slept in the spare room last night. Just hoping that K and I didn't catch it on Wed evening before he had any symptoms as he woke up yesterday with body aches, the rest didn't hit him until last night. So frustrating having him home but not able to do anything!! Especially when K had me up at 1 and 4:30 last night.
Katie is spot on the 50% curve - a very average baby!!
Art - might have to check with Centrelink, I figured we wouldn't be eligible for much and were just going to claim it at the end of the year once we know what our incomes are.
-
Cally, I understand that gastro spreads as a result of poo or vom contact, or eating contaminated food. So it's highly unlikely that you could 'catch' it before any symptoms showed up IYKWIM - I know it won't stop you worrying (i was still hypervigilant a whole week after I was better LOL) but I think you should be ok.
-
Cally- I hope you DH is feeling better soon. I would spray some glen 20 around.
-
Hayley - Definately check out if you are entitled to any centerlink benefits. We thought we wouldnt get a cent as DP makes good money, but turns out we were eligible for $85 a fortnight. Not much but better than nothing right!? I'm sure you can get a carers allowance of some sort, you cant be expected to take on two girls with no financial assistance. Hey also i just noticed that Scarlets ticker says she is 5 mths, hehe whoopsie
Cally - Oh no we had a gastro scare last wk with Dp too, turns out it was nothing thank goodness. I hope you manage to keep it away from yourself and Katie.
Marydean - I can understand being uneasy Bfing in front of co workers. Some women can just whip them out anywhere, which is good, but i know if i was bfing i couldnt do it!
Renee - It wont be long and Rory will be in the jolly jumper. :)
-
-
I was thinking, hang on a minute thats not right, I got all confused. :)
Also thanks to everyone for your reassurances about my chubby bubby. I really thought nothing of it, I weighed her and was like wow 6.5 you healthy little growing girl, then I told MIL and she looked on her growth chart and said she's slightly over weight. Silly MIL always making me worry. Far out she is driving me mental, cant wait for her to go home. Just her little comments like Maddie likes to be wrapped (when she doesnt anymore, she now uses grobags) & yesterday we came back from the shops and Maddie was crying and MIL said, doesnt your mummy feed you, mean mummy, your mummy puts you in these silly clothes etc etc. AND we have a little pattern going and she keeps stuffing it up, like putting her to bed when she is so not tired and would usually be playing, hence she lies in bed awake crying until we take her out. Grrr wish she would butt out, but she has bought us so much for Maddie so I dont want to seem ungrateful. I wish she would just understand that she needs to keep her distance a bit, I know my own daughter and what she needs/wants iykwim. Anyway vent over!!
Has anyone seen the little cute 'i love mummy & i love daddy' outfits? I want some. They arent tacky are they?? I've noticed cotton on for kids does some beautiful little tops with quirky little sayings on them. :)
-
Leanne - The Glen 20 has been getting a work out and DH just headed off to the bathroom with the Pine O Clean too!
Hayley - DD has a Tshirt from cotton on kids with Dad Rocks on it! So cute (she wore it the day we came back from Canberra after not seeing him for 5 days - he was impressed)
-
Cally I bought some of those i love daddy and daddys little girl dummies, and DP was very impressed too. I just went onto the cotton on website and joined up, you get a $10 off your next purchase voucher when you spend over $40, cool!
-
Hi there
Sorry gatecrashing this thread!
My DS was born in on the 2 Sept 07 and I was scanning over this and wanted to drop a line.
I am a bit 'concerned' because he used to sleep from 930-230 then a quick feed to wake at 530 then I'd bring him to bed and we'd sleep until 9am. Now he is very unsettled at night although I have tried to bring his bedtime to 830 because he seems really tired.
Just wondering if any of you have advice or anything about this change? Also I have mentioned this on another thread, but have any of you got problems with your in the car? Mine hates it! I am desperate to find a solution.
thanks!
nox
-
Hi and Welcome Nox- re sleeping my DD has been unsettled latley at night I think is a growth spert or something. DD Loves the car but my SIL son hated the car and is now 6mth old and now loves the car.
Shirts- My boys have MY DAD IS THE MAN and now DH are then who is the man and they say that DADDYS the man. lol So
-
Hi Nox ~
Congratulations on the birth of your DS.
no need to apoligise, we all gatecrashed at some stage :), The more the merrier.
I don't have any advice, really because my brain isn't working today... I'm sure all the other ladies will though :)
Hayley ~ Ah. Don't get me started on MIL's... I got some daddy's lil girl bibs the other day (DF was stoked), and i've seen the dummies, they're so cute!
-
Nox - welcome to the thread. Sorry can't help you, we are having our own sleeping issues at the moment, DD has completely changed in the last week. She does enjoy the car though, there have been very few instances when she has cried at all.
Hayley - I just ordered a grobag, do you put socks on Maddie when you put her in it? I got the Princess Lucy one, K will look just gorgeous in it!
LP - How is Scarlet's spots going? Is she back to normal?
-
Nox - I don’t know if this is going to sound stupid or not but here I go anyway....Maybe you could sit him in the car seat while the car isn’t running and just play with him so he feels secure? Maybe you or dad could sit in the back with him for a few trips to reassure him. How about some toys? We bought a fisherPrice 'dashboard' toy which sits over the car seat. You can activate with a remote control while you are driving.
Hayley - I bought Rory a 'daddy's drinking buddy' bib haha :) I love that stuff. OOoOO and im off to the cotton on web site now
Im at work and its soooooo quite which leaves me more time to miss my little darling! I just called my MIL and he is fast asleep.
Last night I took off Rory's clothes to pop him in the bath. I put him down in his cot for just a moment so I could lay his towel out ready and I thought to myself 'surely he wont pee if I put him down for a second'. Walked back in the room after hmmmm 15 second and he wizzled everywhere and was cacking himself laughing!!!!!!!!
-
thanks ladies for the welcome!
I hope this is a phase. He's not even napping in his cot -- only on me! Oh well ....
I have tried the siting in the back seat and also in the car seat and toys toys toys -- see not a silly suggestion!!! -- to no avail! Hope like Leemar's he grows out of it. Otherwise I swear it is very dangerous! He screams and I have to lean back with my hand to comfort him ... I'll give you all my plates so that if you see me coming you get out of the way! haha
Love all the daddy Tshirts -- just to add to that, got DS My Daddy Rocks. V cute.
-
YAY ~ Scarlet has started rolling over again now, Phew! I was getting worried as she stopped for so long.
Cally - All the spots are gone, I have a sneaking suspicion they were little flea bites as i found furbaby footprints in the cot & I've been slack since i had bub and haven't kept up with the flea treatments.
lol Renee - Scarlet always waits for DF to change her so she can pee everywhere :D
hey nox - with the sleeping, Is your DS having day sleeps?... maybe you need to cut one of those out or make it earlier/later. My daddy rocks, how cute! - Has anyone seen the cute clothes at rockmybaby dot com?
-
Hi there everyone
Sherie - you really have been busy haven't you!!!
Arte- someone told me that story about the boogers too- and i'm like you and gag when i think about it.
md - i had a giggle thinking about your geeky male co-workers. I hope you're enjoying your lunch.
leanne - hopefully Xavier won't need gromits. Fingers crossed.
Nox - hello and welcome. My little Hannah has been quite restless and waking up alot. She used to sleep well during the day, but wakes after about 20minutes. I was getting stressed about it - but now i just go with flow - and let her sleep where she can. Even if it's in the hug a bub or the rocker. Is your little man wearing comfy clothes when he's in his car seat? sometimes hannah has her clothes tucked up behind her and gets upset. Maybe you could put a picture of your face on the backseat?
Renee - i bet it's tough leaving your little man at home, although you're so lucky that he can stay with family. How cute that he giggled when he did a wee!
My sister is pretty sure she has lost the bub. She passed a small clot this morning, and she just feels empty now. I couldn't help myself and cried when she told me. I hugged my girls tight this morning.
Her doctor has got her an appointment at an ultrasound clinic - she said she just wants to know one way or another.
hope you're all having a fab afternoon :)
-
JaZMum - Rory is only sleeping for 1/2 hour to 1 hour during the day too! I was freaking out but like you said, Just go with the flowwww
-
hi nox! welcome. i find it hard to put dd down to sleep during the day too. she can only sleep slightly longer periods when in my arms (w/c leaves me with no time to get anything done). i did notice that on the odd occassions that i'm feeling game to see if she'll cintinue sleeping when i put her in the cot, she slept slightly longer on her tummy...w/c we're not supposed to do but i do keep an eye on her so is ok by me. as for the car thing, she didn't use to like it but is sooo much better now. think it's a bit of getting used to. also, some ladies in here had recommended a feed and burp before getting in the car and i think that's worked very very well. lastle, make sure he's shaded. my dd screamed like mad whenever the sun was on her last week. she'd calm down when we got to a bit of shade. really hard to drive.
congrats to all the rolling babies. this is another one of those things when you look forward to it but at the same time afraid it'll come. i really don't look forward to the additional worry when max starts rolling. am a worry-wart by nature.
have got a couple of shirts w/ stuff on them but were gifts so don't remember what was written on them. and still big so not being worn yet.
arte, do you use the nasal aspirators (fess) to clean boogy? gross idea to "suck"..i'm assuming you mean mouth.
-
ohhh i love rock your baby. sooo cute.
i've tried the feeding etc and sometimes i get a bit longer before the death screams! i think i can only hope that he'll grow out of it real soon!
he was sleeping during the day ... not so good today but usually one 2 hr nap plus lttle naps in pram or slings. he is just so restless and clearly tired, but i will see what happens tonight as we are out for dinner so his sleep will be later again!
fianne -- can DD sleep in a sling? it has saved my life and i have a few carriers. we went through a stage where he would just not be put down.
as you all say, just go with the flow! i'll hope for a break soon!!! ohhhh when will DH come home????
haha
